So a random RP idea popped into my head a couple minutes ago, so I haven't had any time to refine the idea... but here's the basic idea... thoughts on refining it and turning it into a good RP, as well as interest, please reply...

Could go two ways... either some troops/people + maybe a couple naval ships from ancient times go through time into todays world in some random plot of land... or possibly an aircraft carrier and maybe a battleship or something like that from today of someones nation goes through a timewarp into the ancient times. We can RP both the ancient and modern day worlds trying to figure out what happened... or something along those lines.

This random RP idea have any hope do you guys think? Input on improvement to make it a worthwhile RP, and any interest?

it's called the Fantastic Voyage, or something, and i love that movie, especially when the F-14s take on the Jap Zeroes. ^_^

as for a timewarp RP, i'd be interested. i have a short story 'bout just that sorta thing, and i'd be interested in using my chars. regular people, of course, but if it goes troops and such, i got a back-up.

mmm.... I like!!!!

I should think that having a small group of humans (a platoon) finding something dodgy and moving back to a random time era. I think that it should be fun.

i'll RP the bemused residents of whatever era you choose, in Alfegos of course...

Have you been reading either the Ring of Fire, or Novels of the Change series? I'd be especially interested if it were done in the style of the novels of the change.

heh, nope, not from either of those...

Glad to see there's interest... any input on setting this RP up? As far as going ancient to MT, or MT to ancient? Land? Sea? Both? Location in which they transport to/from?

I'd say modern to ancient, just because I think it's more interesting. Land preferably, I know very little about the sea, modern or ancient. Location, Europe or the Middle East, middle ages, possibly Roman Empire, or earlier. I'd prefer something post Roman founding though. I could really care less, barring that I think sending civvies back would be more interesting than military. Even though as a civvy I'm more heavily armed than some plattoons... It's mostly steel, and less firearms, but still.

I will do pretty much anything around this... Roman Empire, Medieval Europe, Revolutionary war (North America), Civil War, WW1, WW2, More modern settings...what ever...

It would be interesting for allied troops in France to go from 1944 to sometime during Napoleon's rule of France.

Civilians definitely. As some of the others have stated, it would be far more interesting to deal with people who have to learn the skills required as they go along.

I even have a setting for you going back in time...

Below the governmental district of New Zevkhay, Alfegos, is a place only a few men outside have seen. The Ministry of Secrets. After being carried by an express elevator to a place 400m underground and walking past the security post, you find yourself in a corridor. You walk to the end, and into an elevator. You see there are four floors, with you on the top. You press the button for the first floor below.

You exit the elevator, and find yourself in a white corridor, with hundreds of grey doors. There is one door marked "DOOR 2 - ENTANGLEMENT". You walk through it, and find yourself in a black corridor. There are thousands of doors, all humming as massive snaking cables feed them their energy. Each door is surrounded by pure white light, and occasionally changes. You walk down the massive corridor, and stop at a random door. "DOOR 89C". You push down the silver handle, and walk through into the pure light.....

How's this? The Alfegos government (in ontheside RPs, not mainstream MT RPs) has a department underground devoted to experimental portal entanglement project. Some portals lead to parallel universes, some to other places in this universe, and some back in time. These are used for weapons testing, archeology and as a penal service for the most dangerous terrorists sentanced to exile: they are thrown out into an area back in time or in another universe, and the connection is severed.

Enter some terrorists who have been chucked out while unconcious, some innocent civilians, and have some fun back in time in another nation... with mysterious Alfegos agents watching them. Their mission: to get to the other portal in the area, facing many challenges along the way.

What say you?

Civilians it is. Modern day to ancient times - say the days of the Egypstan Kingdom? A few thousand years back? BIIIIG difference. Sound good?

Alfy, if others like it, we'll go with that. :)

How about there are portals in each age that lead to different time periods?

I don't know why, but this is really reminding me of those children's Magic Treehouse books (http://www.randomhouse.com/kids/magictreehouse/).

... Do any of you guys have any idea what I'm talking about?

Hmm, interesting idea...

And Siriusa, nope I dont... lol
Alfegos
11-12-2007, 08:43
That could work Caezilia: with my idea of how these things work, random entanglements caused by the prescence of a portal can cause these to pop up any time, only lasting for minutes.

As for Magic Treehouse, I think I might have an idea......

But what say you on the stroyline idea I have proposed?

I remember treehouse. Ancient Egypt sounds good.

So, here's where we stand.. let me know if this is acceptable...

For starters, we go with Alfegos' portals. Our civilians are captured in the street from various nations as 'test subjects'. While not being watched, they are forced into the floor hallway - the elevator closing and with no buttons they can access, walk through the halls.

They come across one of the thousands with the words DOOR 2 - ENTANGLEMENT on it, and choose it, going from a white to a black hall. Again, thousands of doors, and they choose to go through DOOR 89C, which transports them into ancient Egypt, maybe 150 miles from the Sea and 200 miles from the Nile. With nothing but the cloths on their backs.

From there, they go. And they may end up coming across another portal which takes them to another place and time somewhere in the past. Maybe to the city of Rome in its height of glory, or perhapse in North America as the Vikings invade. Who knows... the adventure only starts here.

Good plot?

In case anyone is wondering, my character's backstory is clearly inspired by the rivalry between Black Mesa and Aperture Science in the Half-Life series.

Brilev's part will not only explain some of Cogent Laboratories' history and its relation to the Alfegan project but will also produce a lot of tension, especially if his interests lead to an undue amount of risk for anyone involved. Not to mention he's going to be quite angry if he finds out who captured him, although simultaneously pleased that they would throw open the doors to their company's technology so carelessly.

This reminds me of an RP I hosted a few years ago. I had various people RPing various characters from various times in history. A modern scientist screws up the universe...and basically, time is collapsed into one existence...a mingling of characters from prehistoric times to modern...

It was indeed a lot of fun...sadly, the thread died out after a number of pages.
