Small Nation of Jenbulari in Turmoil

Jenbulari

07 December 2007

(This document was recovered from an underground news source reporting from the small nation of Jenbulari. The news source did not want to be identified for fear of execution.)

The small nation of Jenbulari is in turmoil after a hostile take over of the formerly democratic governing body. After several hours of fighting last night, the armed militant group, simply calling themselves 'True Ularians' stormed the central government building killing all inside. The Prime Minister was then executed publicly while video cameras rolled and onlookers watched in horror.

The nation is now in a state of civil war as members of the former democratic military battle in the streets with members of the Ularian Militia. Martial Law is in effect, and several innocent bystanders have already been killed in what is being called the 'largest hostile takeover to date.'

No word yet on how neighboring nations within the Middle Eastern region, or nations of the UN will react to this most recent conflict.

At this point however, it is feared the small nation of Jenbulari may remain an anarchic state.

Thank you all for your offers of military support, we gladly accept all offers and hereby order movement of all troops across the border and into the nation of Jenbulari. Your forces may be spread thin, however, as all of our cities are in dire need of support. Our Prime Minister was executed on the night of the takeover. Fighting will be fierce, and many of your forces may be eliminated, but hopefully, we can retake the nation and eliminate these militia forces.

"HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN?!"

To call Executive Chairman Poca furious was an understatement. No definite count was available but Visayan citizens killed numbered in the hundreds and thousands more were stranded.

"Why do we have citizens in Jenbulari, when we don't even have an embassy there?! much less a consulate?!"

He had been having a hard time recently. His tax legislation was being damned by both business and unions while the press was skinning him alive.Scandals in his government didn't help. Now he had to intervene in a foreign country's civil war that was beginning to pull in a lot of other neighbors. And he didn't know how this happened.

"Apparently they're guest workers, sir," Foreign Affairs Chairman Salazar replied. Poca sat down and sighed away all the stress he'd been having for a week. "we'll have to evacuate them," he said at last, "it is our duty."

"I can deploy a scout ranger battalion immediately," quipped Defense Chairman Punzalan. "Do that," answered the ExChair tiredly, "land them in La Rofl and secure the airport, we'll need it for the evacuation. then have them await reinforcements. They are not to fire unless fired upon. i don't want to bite off more than i can chew."

Ebuen Air Base

the 1st Scout ranger Battalion, nicknamed Liberators, were on the flight line in full battle gear. Lt. Col. David Insierto inspected his men. His orders were to swiftly seize control of the airport at La Rofl and await reinforcements and further orders. Nothing too difficult. But experience taught him that flying into a country in chaos was never going to be easy. Thirty minutes later, his C130 had taken off but he still nervously wondered what awaited them after insertion.

"I understand, sir."

Col. Insierto had just talked on the Satellite phone with his, as of yet titular, superior Gen. Lagahit. This action only involved his unit after all and he was calling the shots. Apparently, the town of La Rofl was jammed with Muffleberry troops. They were ordered to temporarily stand down while the diplomats tried to smooth their entry. Bureaurats. He thought bitterly. He had been expecting fierce fighting and having to die to the last man or whatever.. but not red tape. "Pilot!" he cried. "Our LZ is too hot. Our orders are to hover for awhile and wait while the politicians sort this out."

"Acknowledged. We can keep that up for maybe three hours. More than that and we'll have to abort. This bird doesn't run on solar power, you know."

Tell that to our people down in that hellhole.

As Visayan Planes enter the airspace of Jenbulari, tracers light up the sky. True Ularian anti-aircraft open fire on the planes making their way towards La Rofl. Out of nowhere, a rocket streaks through the sky, exploding on impact with one of the C-130s flying overhead. The plane erupts in flames and plummets from the sky. In the city below, the former capital city of Tun Bulak, thousands of True Ularians can be seen making their way to the crash site.

Prison Camps Northwest of La Rofl:
Having received reports of the town of La Rofl being retaken by the forces of Muffleberry, the rebels began a systematic execution of all civilians within the prison camps, including civilians from the Visayan nation. Amongst the other cities of Jenbulari, voting was quickly outlawed amongst the people, and any insurrection led to quick execution.

Town of La Rofl:

An unidentified vehicle wound its way through the cluttered streets of the town, towards the airport, where a hasty base was being set up by the forces of Muffleberry. The vehicle sped up, crashing through the checkpoint as shots rang out. A bullet, making its way through a rear door, struck the bomb rigged up in the rear. The vehicle exploded in a large ball of fire, killing the Muffleberry forces that had been stationed at the checkpoint, sending shrapnel flying towards the other Muffleberry forces inside the airport itself.

The crew and passengers of the downed plane didn't wait for authorization either. Opening parachutes could already be seen.

The Liberators in the other planes also made their jumps. despite the AA fire most of them made it safely on the fields along the outskirts of the heap of rubble that was Tun Bulak. the disorganized jump scattered the 1st Scout Rangers Battalion but thankfully they still had com-link with each other. Insierto barked orders into his radio.

"Our orders were to make our way to the nearest airport and evac civilians and to fire only when fired upon. Well ladies, we've been fired upon.. let's go fire back!!" Most units really had no choice on the matter as Ularians began popping out of nowhere.

The Liberators held their own against the militiamen. Though numerically inferior, a well trained force like them could easily mow down wave after wave of ill-organized enemies relying on nothing but horde tactics. But Col. Insierto knew they couldn't hold them forever. He knew he had to move toward frindly forces or withdraw to a more defensible position. the nearest allied troops were the Muffleberry divisions far to the South. but the ruined capital was not very far. It was likely that jenbulari regulars were still offering resistance judging from smoke and artillery fire in the city. with air support pledged by the 9th Fleet with whom they had kept in touch he might be able to seize a portion of the city, rally some of the jenbulari remnants and hold off enemy assaults until the relief force could arrive. with this in mind, he gave the order to advance.

Meanwhile Gen. Lagahit's divisions were speeding across northern jenbulari. two armored and three mechanized infantry numbering 50,000 men in all. they had to get to the capital and relieve the Scout rangers before it was too late.

Resistance was disorganized as the militia were conducting only mopping up. Hooking up with Remnants of the Jenbulari Army, they swiftly seized control of the airport and dug in before the True Ularians could organize a counterattack. with air support from the fleet offshore and supplies airlifted to them, Insierto and his boys could stay put and await reinforcements.

Dyelli Beybi was not, by any definition an honourable State... State because it also wasn't technically independent. It was one of several loosely alligned States that were collectively known as the 'Federated Klatchian Coast' or 'Klatch'. Deep in a military bunker, plans were forming.

"They actually pulled out?" the speaker sounded genuinely suprised.

"Seems so. Apparently we are large enough to cause some degree of caution among the smaller States." the second speaker sounded vaguely amused, "The question is, what do we do now that we've chased off the forces of democracy?"

"Well Dyelli Beybi is a democracy so obviously we'll need some good spin to explain why we're propping up a Dictatorship."

"Or perhaps." the first second speaker suggested, "We'll be able to ensure there are elections... which are firmly rigged to make sure that someone we like gets elected to power."

---

Elsewhere, in Jesuitlem, a prominent city on the South coast, preparations were under way. The Dyellians were assembling a huge fleet that seemed to blacken the sea, an effect that was aided by the clouds of dirigibles. It was only the third time in recorded history the usually cautious Dyellians had ventured to send troops off the Klatrchian mainland. The first time they had inadvertently started a nuclear war, the second they had occupied a small enemy Nation without any real resistance. Hopes were that this latest forray would be more like the second and not all all like the first...

Insierto was getting nervous. The enemy militia launched a fierce counterattack to attempt to retake the airport. His men were beginning to feel the losses. "Now would be a good time for the cavalry to arrive." he sighed to a staff officer.

As if in answer to his prayers, a Challenger Main Battle Tank fired a round into the militia positions. soon, more Visayan tanks and armored vehicles emerged from the streets and rapidly seized control of strategic points of the city. Before sunset, Gen. Lagahit was welcomed in Col. Insierto's headquarters.

News of Dyelli Beybi's entrance into the conflict reached the Federation Executive Committee and sparked a new discussion. The debate was lively.

"This has gotten too risky. We have to disengage!"

"Our citizens are still in there! We can't just leave them!"

"Jenbulari is finished. It's government is in shambles. The Federation will not gain anything from prolonging the inevitable."

ExChair Poca raised his hand to restore order. "Perhaps there is a diplomatic solution to this, gentlemen. All we need is to secure our people not to meddle in another country's politics."

DefChair Punzalan had something to say, "Gen. Lagahit has already taken Tun Bulak. If we give them more time, they can liberate the prison camps."

"Perhaps, but it wouldn't hurt to open negotiations with Dyelli Beybi. If intelligence reports are correct their navy will give the 9th Fleet a lot of trouble." Foreign Affairs Chair Salazar said.

"Very well. We are to give the army more time and we will try to open communications with Dyelli Beybi.

Official Federation Diplomatic Communique

To: Dyelli Beybi

We understand that we sit on opposite sides of the fence. However, seeing that there is nothing to be gained from continued conflict. we are open to any compromise that will be mutually beneficial.

Sincerely,

Ooc: dunno, haven' heard from Jenblari for some time.

IC:
NaCo Camp, Jenbulari Coast.
The soldiers where raged. they stood in a mass and watched general Bam-In-Moon enter his ship.
-Where are you going? You can't leave us here! one brave man shouted. One of the fully armored marine draw a baton and beat the man to the ground. The General turned around.
-I assure you that Komekong isn't leaving you here, only I. As soon as we can we will send you aid. The general and his men entered the ship and then leaved the raged merceneries on the beach. One captain in the Komekong navy asked the general carefully.
-Sir, are we going to aid them? The general answered coldblooded.
-No, we ain't. Komekong can't afford a war at this time. Not with the Fou Pen rebels blowing up our borderlands.

Meanwhile, a sailor stood in the ship engine. He was screwing on a weird looking machine.
-So, for Fou Pen! he shouted, and pressed a button on the machine. And the ship blew up.

-Sir!
-What the hell was that?
-I don't know sir but it blew up general Bam-In-Moons destroyer!
-Is he, is he dead?
-I am afraid so Admiral, what should we do now? The admiral considered this for a second.
-We leave for Komekong, as fast as possible. I don't want to be sitting here if someone get curious.
So the Komekong Navy left Jenbulari, leaving a small "voluntary" force and the remains of a destroyer.
