Descriptions of the components of the Royal Armed Forces.
The Royal Army: The heavy swinging axe of the Royal Armed Forces. The Royal Army is the largest department of royal defense. It is made up of 6 different components, each with its own individual purpose and function.
--The Continental Army: This component is entirely Federally trained and deployed. Operates on the behalf of the nation as part of both defensive and aggressive strategies.
-Territorial Army: The defenders of the ASRC homeland. Trains constantly on invasion scenarios. Can be deployed overseas if necessary.
-The Royal Expeditionary Force: The primary offensive combat component of the Royal Army. Its primary purpose is to deploy overseas to commit to aggressive warfare. Assembled on a needed basis from other army components. This is a specialized, temporary force, not in standing (assembled) during peacetime. Upon a declaration of war by parliament, a new REF is assembled.
-The Royal Army Reserve: This component is designed as a stable, part and full time military occupation, in standing ready to help construct a REF in times of war. Trained Federally. The largest component of the royal army.
--The Colonial Army: The overseas fighting force of the ASRC. Broken up into two sub components, this portion of the Royal Army is kept on-station in royal territories overseas.
-The Colonial Regulars: The standing active duty, full time fighting force assembled and trained federally. This component stands as a quick reaction force to local hostilities. It is essentially the ever-deployed combat portion of the Royal Army.
-The Colonial Guard: This is primarily a defensive force committed to engaging in warfare to defend or police royal colonies overseas. This is a part and full time component, trained Federally, but deployed under the jurisdiction of the Colonial Army.
--The Royal Army Air Corps: This is the aviation component of the Royal Army. It consists of fighters, bombers, and specialty aircraft, such as electronic warfare, and cargo. It prides itself on its ability to conduct any type of mission, any time, any place, with only minutes of notification. It works in heavy coordination with ground forces for incessant air support. It is split into two commands, Continental and Colonial. The Continental commander is responsible for coordinating global air campaigns, and the defense of the homeland, while the Colonial Commander is charged with commanding all flight wings stationed overseas.
The Royal Navy: The all powerful, self sustained, all capabilities component of the royal military. Designed to protect the economic interests of the ASRC, and to destroy land, sea, and air threats to the ASRC. The Royal Navy, unlike many of it’s modern cousins, does NOT employ the use of heavy battleships. Royal Naval commander’s well-realize the battleship’s extremely limited combat functions in modern naval warfare.
-The Grand Fleet: This is the principle combat force of the Royal Navy. 90% of the Navy’s combat vessels are deployed under the Grand Fleet. It serves as the offensive component of the navy, designed to deploy, engage, and destroy major sea and air threats to itself, and the ASRC.
-The High Seas Fleet: This is the supply, support, and logistics component of the royal navy. It coordinates all resupply and sustainment efforts that are required by the Grand Fleet. It employs the remaining 10% of the navy’s total combat power, as escorts to the long convoys of fleet supply ships. This component is much larger than the Grand Fleet.
