Neighbors Collide

Cripistan
30-11-2007, 04:04
After the civil war broke out, many nations made claims on Cripistan. So far, only two states were formed by the people who were on the island before the war broke out. They now were neighbors. Since the forming of both, they have disputed borders. This led to confrontations between both states.

Both nations request immediate aid, as the tensions will continue to rise until the other has surrendered, (which neither will).

Both nations had gathered at the boders where Central Cripistan and the CRU meet. Many compared it to the batlle of Lexington Green as a shot was fired. Neither side knew which one shot, but the outcome was brutal. 216 CRU soldiers killed, and 167 C. Cripistani soliers killed. To each state, it was a declaration of war. They had hoped it wouldn't turn out this way, but it was inevitable.

We would like to urge you to lay down arms and allow us to protect you. If you are willing to turn in your arms to us, we will enter your lands and secure them from outside attacks, including those of the CRU. We will make you an independent state. Firstly we will rebuild your roads and buildings, restore power and water and provide aid to those in need. Secondly, we will allow you to elect a government representative and create a properly trained military and police force which will be outfitted with the weapons turned in.

IC:

The Reichan marine corps vessel HRMSMC Bandit was an elderly design, this was her last tour before she was destined for the piers of Santa Dorda so that she could be scrapped, remelted, and have her metal turned into all assortment of other useful impliments. Gunnery Sergeant Karl Hewitt ran his hand along one of the siderails as the vessel sailed through the calm, blue waters of the Cripistani Sea. The sun glinting off the white railings stung at Karl's eyes, and the rails were pretty hot to touch, but he didn't mind, he was still thinking of what he'd do when they got back to port... what he'd do when he'd have to say goodbye to his home...

"Hell of a day, isn't it gunny?" a voice broke Karl's train of thought as a new person entered the scene. Karl turned and instinctively braced up when he saw the gold loops of the ships XO, the young Lieutenant Max Farron. The officer's face was as red as the emergency hatches paint coat, young Farron would have done well to be posted in the West Fleet, working on some cold-climate platform up North, instead he was posted to East Fleet, and working one of the hottest regions of East Fleet expanse, and his pale, pasty skin was taking a beating because of it.

"Yeah, you're right sir, it'll be a big loss when she's gone" Karl said as he went back to peering out over the horizon.

Lieutenant Farron came up beside him, "well, until then, she's not gone yet Hewie, we just got a call from CINC-FBE, we have a situation developing on Cripistan here, and we just got orders to check it out."

...

A few hours later, four wide bodied aircraft were being lowered into the water from their under-belly holding bays within the Bandit, the three floatplanes' engines roared to life, and as a wing they left the bowels of the ship, one behind the other, and took off into the air. Inside each of the aircraft were five soldiers of the High Reichan Military Services Marine Corps, armed to the teeth and ready to perform a recon so that further Reichan forces could land upon the shores of Cripistan in order to determine exactly what was happening in this country, and just how bad this war was going to be.

The Marines, as always, had been the first Reichan presence to the conflict, and one would guess that if it was anything like ordinary, then they’d be the last ones to leave as well…

The battle had begun. Omar Kharzev sent 1,500 soldiers to the C. Cripistan-CRU border as soon as he heard of the fight. He thought maybe that if he did so, it would calm things down. But it was too late. Many citizens in both states took matters into their own hands. In both states, there were many car bombings, and clashes between immigrants from the two states. In the first week, over 1,000 citizens were killed in C. Cripistan, and 465 in the CRU. Both states declared a state of emergancy and request any aid possible.

Global Message

We are currently at war with CRU. They had claimed part of our state as theirs, and killed some of our soldiers. We would like to request any aid as soon as possible. Thank you, and good night.

To Ameer Bhatun,

We would like to ensure, that Central Cripistan's estimated Military Fighting Force is ranged around 400,000, and that the URC's military is about 150,000. If so we currently have the upper hand with 550,000 soldiers deployed against C. Cripistan's 400,000. We would also wish to have Lt. Gerfer Guldous to meet with you officer in charge of battle so he can have a sit down with Mr. Guldous so they can set up battle sequences.

In a series of drop offs, the promised 400,000 Grestonians were landed and they were ranged with about 40,000 soldiers to tanks, all of the tanks were either TM variants or Jaguars, another 20,000 troopers were designated to commanding Flak Walkers, produced by Allanea, and the rest were Infantry Men.

OOC: I'd just like to note that several nations are already operating in the area so just landing your troops isn't going to work. Their are naval fleets in the area, including my own so I am unsure as to whether you would encounter resistance. Furthermore, Anagonia and myself are ''hell bent'' on securing as much land as possible to be secured and eventually given back to ''state'' governments. Therefore, I'd like to point those interested to the thread I am posting below. Try to read though it briefly, take a look at maps and then RP your nations flying or traveling in, not just landing.

OOC: Consider this my initial landing attempt then.

IC:

The three JC-12 'Harmonic Wind' floatplanes flew lazily in the air across the Cripistani sea, and whilst not of any volition to engage in aggressive activity, the gunners in the aircraft scanned the horizons in effort to see anyone who may want to get the jump on the planes. Nonetheless, even with such adherance to rules, the atmosphere on the aircraft was anything but prepared for war, and as such, the aircrew remained wholly unaware of any radar or aircraft that might be tracking them.

"Okay gentlemen, let's go through it one more time" said Gunnery Sergeant Hewitt. "It's a basic paradrop, nothing fancy, we hit this unclaimed coast here..." he pointed to a small red 'X' marked on a picture of Cripistan's northern shoreline, "... and establish landing lanes for any reinforcements that come through. Once we do this, we radio in mission status and then perform deep recon to the conflict zone. There are reports of a conflict happening already, so make sure you're on your toes."

Hewitt paused for a moment as he looked out a window pane in the aircraft's fuselage at the approaching coastline. The fact that there were no black puffs of AA fire in the air reassured him greatly... though the fact that they were going in without acknowledgement from any of the on-site national interests did disturb him slightly.

"On site there are a number of different national powers, ones our nation has had no contact with. Whilst we aren't hostile to them, be wary of them, and if they do initiate contact, defend yourselves by all means."

A few moments later, and the three floatplanes were cruising along the coastline towards the drop-zone, and whatever else lay down there...

...

The ship HRMSMC Bandit continued its melancholy speed at a distance from the shore of Cripistan, but on the vessel itself, activity had spun to breakneck pace.

The ships Marine element, a full hundred strong contingent, was busy prepping its weapons and armour. The small unit would be only the start of what would be a new presence of Reichan units on Cripistan itself.

As the elderly amphibious assault ship continued to steam on, observers picked up the telltale signature of another vessel approaching... whoever's it was, it would be the determining point of whether this Reichan presence would be accepted, or have to be much more aggressive than previously expected...

Two flight wings (with 185 aircraft in each wing) formed up over the skies of Cripistan and the thousands of troopers were busy reading themselves for the upcoming battle. The men knew that their upcoming mission, of seizing strategic points that had been designated by Scandinvan High Command that would be important during the conquest of Cripistan. As well, the purpouse of the paratroopers was to test the overall military capabilities of Central Cripistan.

As they were approaching their various destinations above Central Crispstan their commander, Lord Marshal Frederick Hastogmin, said to his soldiers,” Soldiers of the Empire, my brothers, the time has come to fulfill our duty to our God, our Emperor, our race, and to the Fatherland! We must not fail in this mission as it is our duty to maintain our race across this world and defend from the unjust tyranny of our ancient racial enemies. We also must fight in order to prevent the loss our brothers lives at the merciless hands of our enemies and be the first into combat so that we might avert our brothers deaths. Remember my friends, my brother, in combat that any one of you is worth five our foes and that death on the battlefield is glorious, but is even more glorious to see the dawn so do not do anything foolish. Yet, in the case that we die that my service with you my mine have been the best days of my life and that if I die I go to the afterlife with pride and will gladly face whatever fate awaits remembering the service that I had with you.”

The men then gave out a loud cheer and begin to set up for the jump. Within five minutes after the Marshal had given his speech, he been the first to jump off his plane into one of the mountain ranges which had been deemed necessary to be secured in order to prevent the local forces from fleeing into them once the main Scandinvan forces had began their push into the heart of the country, because if the local forces got control into the mountains a protracted guerilla war could easily be the result.

In other areas though Scandinvan forces had begun to land in the wilderness and rural areas which existed around the Cripistan capital of Rasha and another force began to land near Webster, respectively eleven thousand paratroopers landed around Rasha and another five thousand landed in the areas near Webster. The attacks on these two particular targets were to secure the main routes between and around the two cities.

The Flak Walkers and 80,000 Infantry troops marched up to the CRU and C. Cripistan border. Today would be the first C.C./ Grestonian battle of this war. Of course there were smaller battles or just murders of C.C. troops by Grestonians but this would be the first declared battle. The 100,000 soldiers marched towards the area as CRU soldiers ran back inland. They arrived at the border an hour after departure and waited infront of the readied C.C. troops at the border. They aimed the weapons at the C.C. troops but stood still and didn't fire. The C.C. troops would scream and yell at the Grestonians telling them to leave, and half an hour later they did. But as they left 20,000 Jaguar tanks came at full speed towards the borders and fired upon the Infantry Units gaurding it. Behind them ran the Flak Walkers to clear out any little bit of C.C. soldiers left after the tanks ambushed. The Infantry Units followed up the rear.

Back at the initial landing points a convoy of 6 tanks, 10 Flak Walkers, and a small company of 30 men traveled to the head of operations quarters so the two leaders could speak of a strategy.

They also sent a message to Greston,

We have decided to try to reason with you, before this war becomes to costly for both our nations. "Read this message." said Lt. Carvoz to Lt. Bervik, as he handed him the message. Lt Bervik read it and laughed, and Lt. Carvoz started talking again, "We should push up as far as we can then send reps, how does that sound?" "It sounds good enough, but if we want to be able to we will have to pass those Abrams and Arjuns coming our way." "that will be easy, 20,000 Flaks and 80,000 infantry units, as well as 20,000 tanks can take 'em out easy. Set the Jaguars up in front of our Infantry lines, then hence they set that up have them fire. They will move out of the way then and let our infantry use anti-tank missiles on 'em, then the Flaks can walk up and kill anything left."

The tanks got into formation, which was a semi circle around the Flaks and Infantry and then waited as the Abrams and Arjuns rolled up and they fired, 20,000 smoothbores fired twice and then they fired smaller scale weapons. The center few Jaguars moved out of the semi circle going either to the right or left and then over 30,000 anti tank rounds were fired in a series of volleys.

Herzvog was in his class A when he entered, his safety keepers followed him in a perfect straight line then as he came to the table with Orbathians and a C. Cripistani at it the line of body gaurds made a straight line behind him only now shoulder to shoulder instead of back to back. Lt. Herzvog refused to sit down and just stood there, there was an akward pause and Lt. Herzvog broke it by saying, "I wasted my time coming, and now my men can't fight the C.C. bastards for a while, so why do you have me here?"

Marshall jumped up outraged.
" Bastards! You know as damn well as I do that we called off those tanks. And your idiotic men killed thousands of our people! We sent a message to your damned commander well before you decided to attack us. You lucky bastard..." Marshall wiped a tear from his eye.
" My brother was out there when we decided to cease fire! Those men put their hatred aside so we can try to talk terms of peace, you continued your assault. Can your soldiers honestly be proud that they killed men who wouldn't shoot back?"
Marshall sat back down. He looked down at the table, and thought to himself. He said over and over again to himself that he had tried to hold his tongue, but could not bear to hear this Grestonian pig speak harsh of the loyal soldiers who had died, and his own brother.

''In a hurry now. I called you here to discuss a possible resolution to this conflict and to advise you on a few matters. It appears the CRU has chosen to to show their faces.''

He picked up a glass of water and drank.

''Please, sit, have a drink.''

He continued on.

''Firstly, it is the aim of my government to see peace. We understand it is a long way away but it can happen.''

One of the state representative interjected.

''Open up the folder. Inside you will see in writing and image what the Orbathian government has managed to do for us.''

The General continued.

'' We will not support those who will be blindly violent. We are willing to take those who will work with us under our wing and give them freedom but at the same time, structure. In a short time, we have created two nearly independent states. ''

He once again paused.

''We work in cooperation with the Anagonians in hopes that we will secure all of Cripistan and return it to the people. We will not tolerate imperialistic nations or rebels that will not cooperate.''

This time his expression turned stern.

''We ask that you leave and quickly. Support neither side. Not leaving would not be good on your part. Over 2 million soldiers and a massive naval fleet oppose you. Stand down or be crushed!''

" Sir, unidentidied aircraft is leaving Central Cripistani borders."
"What? How could it be leaving. You idiot, you must have missed it coming in. Advise all units to be on look out for any suspicious persons."
" Yes sir."

"All units, unidentified aircarfts have been spotted leaving our territory. Be advised to keep on lookout for any armed persons that are not of our forces. Over."

The Cripistani Defenses were boosted. Tanks, soldiers, and aircraft began spotting all areas for any suspicious activity. They spooted a large amount of ground units in a mountain range outside of Rasha. They sent a message, hoping that the units had radios:

To all units that are not Central Cripistani Forces:

We are aware of your presence, and demand that you lay down your weapons, and surrender to our forces. If you do not, we will use deadly force. You have 15 minutes to respond, or you will be killed. The Imperial paratroops, knowing that they had already been spotted due to the radio, decided not to send a reply to the transmission and instead went into a number of forested or hilltop place and then fortified the exterior of their established perimeter with mines and sensors around their positions, so as to inform them of any sizeable advance being made upon the base. As well, they readied their anti-personal and anti-armor weapons, knowing full well that they did have armor but they did know they had appropriate equipment to repel tank attacks and destroy the attacking vehicles.

In the costal regions of unclaimed Cripistan the Scandinvan military began to assemble the main invasion into Central Cripistan. Yet, before the main invasion began Scandinvan aircraft began to launch their first sorties against Rasaha, which was the closest city to the Scandinvan military base along the southwestern shore of the island. As well, the Scandinvan forces began to form up to begin their advance towards central Cripistan.

Marshall continued to look down. He listened intentively as to what the General was saying. Although he did not hear the General say "Greston" at all, he assumed that the imperailistic, and blindly violent parts were aimed towards Greston. He was eased much more when the General "asked" for them to leave. He wanted to jump up and say, " You heard what he said, get the hell out of here before your crushed!", but didn't. He knew that C.C. was ill prepared for, war, but the soldiers had the heart. Recruitment was increasing rapidly, as many Cripistanis were outraged by the attacks after C.C. decided to cease fire.

The Scandinvan invasion fleet began to form up a strong circular formation around the troop transports, which were preparing all the necessary vessels to carry the large Scandinvan Imperial forces to shore. Initially it was planned for the Scandinvan forces to build up a secure base on the beach, which in a part of the unclaimed region that was to the southwest of Central Cripistan, for the purpose of facilitating the movement of the tens of thousands of soldiers who would soon begin the invasion of Central Cripistan’s western regions. Furthermore, Scandinvan aircraft were dispatched to begin to patrol the skies over western Cripistan, yet once they arrived it was anyone’s guess how the local military forces would respond…

It began when we had a small force of 40 Abram tanks, and 2000 men protecting our borders. They sent a force of 20,000 jaguar tanks, and destryed all of our men, leaving 2,160 dead. We didn't wish to fight, we wanted to stop CRU soldiers from entering our country. When we sent 30,000 ARjun and Abrams to stay 15 miles away from their force to protect our nation, during cease fire, they sent 80,000 troops, and over 20,000 Flaks and Jaguars, when our men were under the understanding that it was a cease fire. They killed 120,000 soldiers there. We have now lost 122,160 men. At neither of those occurances did we attack, nor threaten their forces. This leads us to belive that they are a bloodcraving nation. All we want is to live our own lives, and unify a war-torn nation.
We don't have an official government system at the time. We wish to set up a Republic, and allow the people to vote for their leaders.
We believe that there are over 120,000 Grestonian forces in our nation.

For a long time now Anagonia had concentrated on the new-found state of Guardia, in the preft claim. Having taken control of all the territory there made elections go smoothly, governing go without terrorist involvement, and security with Anagonian Troops at it's maximum. Then, it happened, a civil crises once more.

Anagonian leaders on the ground had kept quiet for the longest time, and had not decided to involve themselves for fear of provoking a civil war. However, things have changed, as they always do. Now more nations then ever were getting involved and quite frankly Commanding General Greg Paladin didn't want that. This was the Game that only Orbath and Anagonia could play, and no one else. Already Red Tide was slowly going away, having an NAP and an agreement to leave the Cripistani Nation. A World War had been diverted by diplomacy.

Now, again, was the time for that diplomacy.

Greg Paladin, having done the rounds across the thirteen cities of Guardia, and having decided to expand efforts to new territories, decided to warn all new nations involved that destruction would be the only result if they decided to mess with the Internal Affairs of Cripistan.

A message was sent:

To all nations on the ground involved in the civil crises of Cripistan, with the exception of our Orbathi Allies,

You will be warned that Anagonia shall not tolerate any more claims or involvement to Cripistan land. This is their land, not yours. We are here as liberators and the starters of a new nation that they, the People of Cripistan, shall mold into their future. I will warn you sternly that if you do not leave Cripistan within a timely basis, you will be seen as oppressors and immediately dispatched with force.

We shall not tolerate your presence any longer than we have. If you do not begin leaving, we will make you. And I assure you, we can and will drop you to your knees begging for mercy, which there shall be none.

We leave the matters of securing the States Involvement to that of Orbath, our allies. They have shown themselves as liberators and not as tyrants. We do not know you, those whom have come. Orbath shall command a Unified Contingent of Anagonian/Orbathi Ground Forces to purge you from these lands. If the People of Cripistan are tired of you, we shall make them sigh in relief at your exit.

Do not tempt us, we will destroy you, even if you are here for the right purpose.

With deepest sympathy to your coming losses,

Breaking News

As we reported earlier, millions of people came out to vote today. Finally, the results are in. By a landslide, Omar Kharzev won the election. He will be sworn in next week. He has yet to create his cabinet, but we believe that it will be many of the members of his formerly temporary-members. He gave a speech after the results, and i quote
" Through the time that I have temporarily been leader of this state, I've seen one drastic change. Unity. The people of Central Cripistan have come together. This truly means something. If you look over at Guardia, Mori, and Amari you'll see that they had help from Orbath and Anagonia. You, my friends, did it on your own. We came from nothing, to everything that this state needs. I am truly honored, and thankful, that you would allow me to govern you. Thank you." This is Liz Hepp, for CCN.

Thank you Liz. In other news, after the surge in foreign troops, Anangonian Chief Commanding General Greg Paladin, urged all foreign forces to leave. This comes just days after Central Cripistani Forces agreed to a cease fire, and later attacked causing over 120,000 deaths. It is unknown whether or not Anagonian representatives wer at the meeting in Orbathian held territory, but known that they now have a strong stance on the new crisis between the CRU and C. Cripistan. Chief of Foreign Affairs John Marshall, also the man who represented C. Cripistan in Orbath Territory, had this to say
" Even though Anagonian officals didn't speak out on this matter before, i believe they are well aware of the recent events. Thats why i think they stepped in right now. Before it got out of hand. It's really unfortunate that nations like Red Tide, and Greston have to come in and claim land, during turmoil like this. Luckily, nations like Anagonia and Orbath are the ones who say back off, give these people their land. That's what we need right now." This is Jorge Ciodla, CCN.

Operation Purge:

Orbathain Commanders had been discussing the elimination of the Greston threat in Cripistan even before the ''talks''. Their assault had just provided them more information. They planned and plotted a way to take them down. General King had been placed in command of Task Force Purge, a joint Anagonian-Orbathain effort at removing all threats, mainly Greston from Cripistan.

Orbathain Naval Fleet

The Fleet had been brought in closer to the shore to allow them to bombard Greal troops. The guns of the Iowa Classes were dialed in and the missiles prepared. F-36 and F-40 aircraft took of from the mighty Champion Class carriers. From the smaller Wasp Classes, C-78 VTOL aircraft took off. Though King was in command, in didn't like to order allies around. Instead he would ask.

Message To: Anagonia Naval Fleet

We are currently about to begin Operation Purge. We are requesting you prepare to fire upon the following targets. We are also asking that you contribute an air element.

A list was attachted. On it was the coordinates of targets as well as information and even pictures. The Orbathain commanders planned to launch a massive attack. Wave after wave of shells and missiles would pour onto the tanks, slowing or stopping them. After this, these waves would stop to allow the air units to come in, bombing targets and laying down a minefield. For the Grestons, it would be a nightmare. An entire armored force of 20,000 would be decimated all in one strike. But first, one last chance was given.

To: Greston

This is your last chance. We offer you the ability to leave now, unharmed. If you do not quickly reply to this message with the intent to surrender, you will be destroyed.

We will send 300,000 troops of the original task force to leave but the other 100,000 will stay in the CRU to protect them in case of other occurences. We do not wish for any land from Cripistan anymore, we wish to protect the CRU and surely you can justify us protecting some one?

To Greston:

The protection of the CRU will not be needed. i am quite confident that the CC will not do the CRU any more harm. This is because our forces will be moving into CC and sealing off the border. This means that no CC will be allowed to leave and no CRU allowed to enter. This will keep both groups safe. The CRU will be allowed to operate on its own for now, however, if the allegations that the civilians held in a village are held by CRU forces, they will be invaded. We will allow you to keep a small group of advisors (no more than 50) to protect your interests. Good day.

After the message was sent, a massive convoy left the two secured states. They would be taking a one road route and only securing a small area around it, creating a ''supply line hallway.'' After CC is fully secured, this ''hallway'' will be further spread.

We understand that you already have government so elections won't be needed. We do not come to oppress. The convoy continued, small groups of soldiers being deployed along the ''hallway''. There was a large lack of resistance. Most of the people located here were loyal to the CC or at least neutral. Since most people did not travel, the seizure of a few roads did not seem to bother them. Leaflets were dropped on the area outside of the ''hallway.'' They asked the people to do what those of the other states had done.

The massive convoy finally entered CC, its forces spreading both north and south to secure the border and west, heading for the southwestern and western border. So far, they hadn't made it very far, visiting only a few villages and collecting weapons along the way.

The fighters that had originally been planned to attack Greston tanks rocketed overhead. Since they were in the area, they would provide air cover. The mining of the border would not go through, it was not worth it to place dangerous weapons unless they had to.

We will ensure you are safe, I promise you this.

Thank you,
Chief Commanding General Greg Paladin

Over 800,000 Military Police and Marine forces surged into the Central Cripistan and the CRU states. Thousands of Main Battle Tanks, Bradley Tanks, Helicopters, Troop Transports, and Medical and Construction supplies and equipment came with them. 400,000 troops went to the CRU, the other 400,000 went to Central Cripistan. The cities therein were positioned with the amounts to provide training and police measures.

Finally, Anagonia had become involved, and Greg Paladin even did Orbath a favor.

Commanding Lieutenant General Dimino Rudolf was in command and under the authority of the Orbath Commanders. Orbathi Generals now had the power to firmly train, protect, and see peace make itself known.

The Orbathain troops also entered Central Cripistan. In a few short days the entire area had been secured. The border defenses had been constructed and engineers worked to repair damages throughout the state. The state already was quite well organized and therefore much less help was needed here. Medical aid and food was distributed, mainly to people displaced by the fighting near the border. Military training camps were built and recruits began pouring in to be trained. Many weapons had been turned in. This state would become a powerful one.

OOC: Some cities for Anagonia, Rasha, Webster(needs repair FYI), Dudley, Leicester, Sturbridge.

IC:
The people of the cities watched as a massive force from both Orbath and Anagonia poured into the nation. They were no longer scared, but excited. They had heard new of Guardia, Moria, and Armani. They looked forward to seeing what the nations would do to help the state. The people were proud, as they had already elected a President, and many new buisnesses were opened to try to rebuild the roads, and restore electricity. Things were finally coming together.( Ill post more when you guys RP your men entering cities.)

In Eben, CRU

General Areed looked angry. Even more than usual. He approached an Orbathian soldier.
" Hey, you hear about that village that was set on fire. Then all the inhabitants were shot? Damn shame ain't it?" a grin went across his face.
" Disgusting." he muttered as he walked away. the rebels were all standing around the border with weapons. Many of the people weren't classified as citizens, nor militants. In the CRU, there was no seperation. Every man over the age of 16 was given a uniform, and a gun. They hoped the Orbathians didn't know this. They could use this to their advantage. People began rioting, setting fires, and even taunting the Orbathian troops.
" Hey, were you at that village, did you hear the screams?!" shouted many people.
Yet, a group of men stood, and watched from afar. They still had leaves on their uniforms. They ahd hoped that none of these men were involved in the chase to the village. These men, had been the ones who attacked it.

The 80,000 Infantry Units had left with a large amount of the Flaks only 10,000 Flak operators the 20,000 Jaguars, and around 7,000 Infantry units were marching through the border away from the battle zone in which 100,000 Grestontian troops killed over 125,000 CC soldiers. The Orbathians cursed and spit at the Grestonians as they marched proudly away from this war they were the only Grestonians currently still in Cripistan. After six air pcik ups the Flaks were taken away and most of the operators 500 Flaks were left and 1,000 operators beside that 500 were left to accompany the tanks. A few more air lifts were made taking 1,000 of the Jagurs then the airforce had to leave the area and go back home. The force of 27,500 men and tanks would travel on foot back to the CRU then 9,000 of the tanks and all of the Flaks would be picked up and the 17,000 Infantry would have to stay in the CRU to protect them even though we were instructed not to by Orbathians.

When the Grestonians returned to the CRU, they were met by a large supportive crowd. The people were giving food, and water to the troops. They were invited to stay at homes, and hotel and motel owners would let them stay free of charge. Many of the citizens held up posters that said 125,000, for the amount of Central Cripistanis killed. It was a massive outpouring of over 2 million citizens. It even made Central Cripistani news, which many C. Cripistanis were disgusted with.

Operation Purge 2

The Village

Houses still burned in the cold night as Blackhawk helicopters touched down in a nearby field. Soldiers came and collected the bodies. All it would take is one body for the largest military offensive in Orbathain history to be launched. A body, partially burned, dressed in a CRU uniform, Upon further searching, several more bodies were uncovered. Bits and pieces of CRU military intelligence were also collected, just enough to prove they were responsible. It was all Orbathain commanders needed.

Orbathian and Anagonian Task Forces

The guns and tubes were redirected towards Greston and CRU positions. Special care was made to ensure that civilian targets would not be hit.

From the decks of the Orbathain carriers, F-36, F-4 and C-78 aircraft took off. As soon as they got far enough away from the fleet they could see smoke pouring from launch tubes. Over a thousand various missiles took to the sky. They were aimed at Grestonian and CRU targets such as military bases, artillery emplacements, communications towers, airfields and large build ups of troops. The Iowa Class Battleships joined in, shelling Grestonian and CRU positions, especially those near the border. The aircraft shot towards the CRU at breakneck speed, prepared to engage their targets.

Along the border, Mammoth Multi Function Missile Launchers directed missiles at border locations between CC and the CRU. After this massive bombardment, Orbathain forces rushed the border. The scene everywhere was just like at the border location named Alpha by Orbathain forces.

Border Location Alpha

The soldier awaited their order to move. In the distance, in various locations in CRU, including quite close, they could see the flashes of light from explosions. The early morning sky was illuminated early, not by the sun but by Orbath.

''All stations, Operation Purge Two is a go.''

Soldiers hopped into their vehicles, heading only a few kilometers south to where the road had been closed by the CRU.

The helicopters roared overhead. They were older models, currently being replaced in Orbath but effective still. They were AH-23 Black Panther Helicopters. Using their targeting systems they sighted CRU and maybe even Greston vehicles. The Black Panthers, 6 of them, fired numerous Hellfire missiles. Quickly they banked left, making a wide turn and coming back around in a sort of dive, spraying infantry targets with their chain guns. One the ground, Wolfhound tanks appeared, firing their 105mm guns into the ''roadblock.'' IFVs pulled up alongside the tanks, letting loose with their weapons ranging anywhere from 105mm guns to chain guns to anti tank launchers. The infantry dismounted, taking up firing positions and adding their torrent of bullets to the hell storm. 105mm Howizters, 120mm mortars and 81mm mortars stood at the ready preparing to attack. In another five or ten minutes, air support in the from of 4 F-40s and 2 F-36s would arrive if needed. If not they would continue deep into CRU territory.

OOC: I'll post and Order of Battle and equipment list shortly. Also Greston I'd like you to remove the part in your post about my troops cursing and spitting. Though they may dislike you, in the Orbathain military, those actions would land my soldiers in jail.

The CRU noticed this, and the rebels inside their houses needed to do something. The men with RPGs went to windows. They opened them up, and fired at the Orbathina tanks. The soldiers with asssault rifles knew that this was not the time to attack. They would wait for the infantry to enter Eden first.

This sort of conflicts with the notion that the area is more heavily populated than previously invaded areas; I suppose those areas, though more suitable for populating, was not heavily populated due to their geographic distance from the heart of the island. The rebels there fled there once the rest of the island was invaded, so that works. I guessed that the island was very big, and made the map accordingly, so I certainly hope that was not contrary to the truth.

As the rebels of the border town ran in the open, towards houses, Orbathain vehicles, soldiers and helicopters fired upon them. Once they got into the houses though, there was a problem. RPGs began flying towards the tanks and vehicles. Two tanks and an IFV shrugged off an RPG hit each, another IFV had its wheels disabled. The vehicles moved to take cover, either fading into a nearby forest or pulling behind other buildings which, by using thermal imaging, they could tell were empty. For a few seconds, things got quiet. The screaming of artillery shells broke the silence, two tear gas shells broke through the roof of the building, letting their gas loose inside. Soldier rushed towards the building, lobbing flashbangs inside and breaching the doors. The other vehicles bypassed the building altogether, heading deeper into CRU territory.

This same type of fighting occurred all along the border, however rather than stopping, small bands of soldiers were left behind to fight and secure these towns while the main force pushed forward.

After a short walk, the representatives would find themselves inside an white walled room with a cherry finished table in the center. At the head of the table was the Orbathain representative, General Robson who replaced General King. Also present were representatives from Moria and Armani.

Two men were clearly leaders of the Errikan faction. The first, Joshua Patton, the head Errikan civil servant in the region, straightened his jacket, surveying the situation, as they entered the room. He stood at 6'4", just over average Errikan height, and had short, Nordic blonde hair and a pale, clean shaven face which bore a thin scar on the chin. His dress - a formal black suit and hat, standard Errikan formal ware - matched his stiff and formal demeanor. The second was Colonel Thomas Roberts, a leading military commander of the Cripistani expedition. The same height as his civil colleague, his impeccably kept uniform also conveyed a stiff, formal image, but the general personal demeanor of the younger officer was warmer than was Patton's.

“Greetings, gentlemen,” Roberts began, going for his seat.
Orbath

''Nice too see you,'' said Robertson. The rest of the group seated around the table muttered their greetings as well. Robertson was a shorter man, standing just under 6'. He wore a crisp, olive drab military uniform with a green officers cap. The buttons on the uniform were gold and shone in the light. On his chest were numerous medals, signifying not only military action but diplomatic action, something that was prized in the Orbathain military due to the fact that in most cases, officers were the Orbathain representatives.

''I'm not going to beat around the bush, I know we all have other matters to attend to, though this is still a very important one. I wish to know, what are your intentions for the land you are claiming?''

"Right to the point," Patton said, sitting down in his seat, "Quite admirable. The Errikan Empire intends to annex that territory, making it an official colony. The local populace will be given legal status, many of them citizenship (quite an uncommon honor), and Errikans will settle there as well."

IN ORBIT

The Buran was still doing its job. The orbital optics were keeping a close eye on the newcomers. Their helicopter spotted, their forces noted, even before they knew what Anagonia had in Cripistan. The Buran tilted itself at an angle to zoom in closer to the ongoing meeting.

ON THE GROUND

Lionel Whitfield, Squad Leader of the Soviet Legion Special Operations Squad Foxtrot, observed in a dimly lit room the image on his laptop. He observed the meeting, calculating the results of such a meeting, and transfered his analysis to his superiors. The Legion worked differently than most Anagonian Military Command Structures. They reported to only one man, which was only known to them, whom was one of many who was assigned to these squads. Their superior was their life, their master, their father or mother. And now Lionel's superior wanted to know his personal analysis of the Errikland intrusion.

"I do not advise action at this time, Father." Lionel held a hand to his chin, observing the feed from the orbital optics. On his laptop a distorted voice responded, "I concur." Lionel smiled, he was right. "Perhaps we should intrude on them should they make a permanent foothold?" The voice at the other end responded again, "Yes, that would be acceptable. I will take care of the proper procedures so you may be first in, as always." Lionel nodded to nothing, "Thank you father."

His laptop went dead then, and he closed it.

Chief Governor Dunan Ruu looked ominously at the individual before him. Not much was known about the Empire-Province of Nodea Rudav Military, especially the Soviet Legion. All that was made public, with a bit more in government, was that children were raised to be super soldiers. That was it, and that was what Dunan knew. Until now.

Dunan sat behind the Chief Governor's desk, occasionally looking down at his built-in desk computer for updates on the situation in Cripistan. The man before him stood in the shadow casted by the drapes on the two large European windows to the side of his desk. It looked American in style, yet shifted to fit the proper mixed cultures of Anagonia itself.

"I recommend an immediate attack on all Errikland assets in Cripistan." The man folded his hands before his waist, he wore a nice black suit with black tie. The white undershirt showing above the suits coat. "We should eliminate them before they become a challenge."

Dunan took a cigarette from his long-forgotten pack of A-Two's, grabbing his ashtray from a drawer in his desk, and setting it on the table beside his computer monitor. He lit the cigarette then, taking a deep breath of the deadly smoke. He exhaled and replied at the same time, "No."

The man shifted uneasily, and Dunan offered him a seat before one of the two fancy leather chairs before his desk. The man took the offer. "Let me explain," said Dunan as he took another puff, "I will not have a war with a nation that has an economy that nearly matches our own. Neither will I attack them. Neither will I assault them." He flicked ash into the tray, taking another puff. He quit several years ago, should have stayed quitting. "I will not order my men into a massacre."

"You won't have to, Chief Governor." The mans face was still hidden, but Dunan made out the grin. "My men, our brave men, shall do it for you."

"Continue," Dunan said, sitting back in an expression of interest. The man nodded, and continued.

"As you know, the Soviet Legion has the highest trained force of men and women in the entire United Republic. They are trained to fight, to kill, and to show no mercy. They are captured from birth, sent to training camps, and shown proper Soviet discipline. They are beaten, broken, and tortured into the most vicious cold-hearted bastards." He sat back for a moment, watching the flicker in the Chief Governors eye. "They are also sworn to protect the People."

"I see," Dunan said while finishing his cigarette and putting it out. "But you missed something important. They think for themselves, and no matter how much you train and force into them to become machines, it won't work. I have seen and met them myself. Some have families, all of them know how to act in the face of the People. Yet none of them stands there like a machine, as you so adventively pointed to."

The grin on the mans face became almost scary to Dunan. "That is simply a mask behind the wolf, sir Governor. I assure you, with a few spoken words, they are machines."

Dunan thought for a moment. He lit another cigarette, took a puff, and looked at the man with a hard gaze for a few moments. "What about the Cripistani's?"

The man grin wider, "No People shall be harmed, they are trained to protect civilians, not kill."
Dunan gazed harder, "What about civilians with guns?"
The man bared his teeth in the grin now, "Then that is when they make the decision."
Dunan took a long puff, "What about the Unity?"
The mans teeth looked like fangs of some monster, "Your words have already stated them not to harm that."
Dunan's eye twitched now in nervousness, "What about blame on us?"
The man smiled in such a wicked way Dunan's eyes looked in fear, "No one will ever know."

Afterward

Dunan Ruu had finished the pack of cigarettes in less than fifteen minutes after the encounter with the Soviet Commander. This was scary, really scary. They were Special Operations soldiers, not killing machines. Somehow he decided to give the go ahead, and now as he looked down upon Union City his thoughts troubled him.

"If he's right, then we are no better than the Tideans." He grabbed his new pack of A-Two's, packed them, received his cigarette and lit it for a long puff. He watched a mother and child below on the street wave at him, he returning the wave with a smile. His thoughts on the child. "If we raise them from children to kill, then why are they so proper?"

A few hours later, after a duly deserved nap and daily briefing, he sat in his car and suddenly looked at nothing. His words of revelation came a whisper.

"They brainwash them," he said as he looked at the corner market, his hands closing into a fist. "The communist bastards..."

Unknown Location

The man looked at the Chief Commander on the screen. He recognized him as Greg Paladin, the Operations Commander in the Cripistani Theater. No one he could use, of course. Everyone here was devoted to the Chief Governor, to the People, and to every piece of the democratic puzzle. Only his people, his children, understood what it meant to value a system of life.

"We will be operating soon. You are not to interfere. You are not to question. Is that understood?"

"Completely sir," Greg responded with a scowl of hatred.

No one would stand in his way. He closed the link, and opened a new one.

Chief Commander's HQ - Base Alpha, Cripistan, State of Guardia

Greg slammed his laptop on the table, then threw it against the wall. The newly trained Guardian Troops stepped back a few paces, the Anagonian Marines standing firm. A look of concern on the Marines expressions, while confusion on the Guardians. No one, not even his soldiers under his command, had ever seem him so pissed off. A Guardian infantryman started to walk forward, but a Marine shot him a hard glance and he went back into place. The Marine slowly shook his head no.

''Ah, I see,'' the General said, thinking about his next words.

''I mean no disrespect sir, but why does your government feel it has the right to this land. Furthermore, what kind of benefits would they receive by becoming part of you?

"No disrespect taken," he said, "They certainly are legitimate questions. And, to be completely honest, I haven't an answer for the first, or, at least, not any which you would accept. However, the second I can address. They are to become people of the Errikan Empire, many of them citizens, with all of the benefits that come; they have open access to Errikan markets, the protection and support of the Errikan government, and extensive local autonomy. They will ultimately choose their own local leaders, who, like local governments throughout the Empire, will do the vast majority of their governing. They were given a choice to join the Empire or have their own state, and they chose the former."

The General was a bit taken back by the fact that the Cripistanis would chose to become part of Erikkland. He picked up a nearby glass of water and sipped, using this time to think. It really wasn't much different than the people cooperating with Orbath, except that in Orbath's case, they would have the chance to become their own state.

''Orbath and Anagonia are here for one reason, not to take over the nation and keep it for ourselves but rather to bring peace to this nation. We are completely against those who wish to be greedy and take this land for themselves. You seem to be in the middle, willing to give the people their own rights and freedoms but still wanting something in return. So I offer this, allow Orbath, Moria and Armani to send representatives to this land you have captured. Allow us to discuss with the people their options, send your representatives too, we want this to be fair. Let the people choose when they have seen their options.''

Patton raised his hand to his lips, thinking for a moment, before turning to Roberts. After a brief exchange of words, whispered quietly enough so as not to be understandable, he turned back to the other delegations.

"That seems quite acceptable. We had, until this point, only addressed their leadership, as they were the most practical to address in a military context and clearly had their people's best interests in mind, having had been actively fighting for them. Assuming your people are impartial, this method should probably result in the best for everyone.

"Of course, we have already invested a great deal in our section of the island, particularly in terms of infrastructure and other civil development, and cannot be cut out entirely; should Errikan Cripistan become independent, perhaps rejoin the rest of the island, would we be expected to entirely pick up and leave as though none of this had happened?

"Just to clarify, your statement--placing us between the charitable liberators and the vicious conquerors--, while to a certain extent accurate in pure political terms, ultimately skews the truth a bit; we, like you, did not hope to exploit the Cripistanis, but advance them. We intend to, by bringing them into the Errikan family, form a fully functional, mutually beneficial relationship."

"In this arrangement, I assume that the turnover would be gradual, rather than abrupt, so as to allow a smooth transition? If so, that arrangement sounds quite agreeable, assuming we worked out the fine details, including migration matters.

"Also, what if part of the territory should wish to remain Errikan, while the rest, constituting a majority, should wish to leave? Would there be any means of division in that case, or would it remain an all-or-nothing affair?"

Greg Paladin sat in his chair for hours on end. Marine and Guardian shift changed two times, and he sat there almost as in time lapse. He thought hard, very hard, about the situation. If the Soviet Legion was involved, when the Chief Governor forbid the act of aggression against Errikland, then surely this Soviet Commander acted in rebellion. But no, the Soviet Commander had the proper papers and permission. He had the rank, too.

Even though the United Republic was split between Communism, Imperialism, Federalism, Republic, Democratic, and Confederate, the Soviets had the edge when it came to rank and prestige. Even the Anagonian Generals had to bow before them in submission, as outrageous as it seemed.

"Outrageous," he said to no one in particular. A Marine that stood at the door looked in his direction. "Sir?" Greg looked up from his daze and blinked, shaking his head. "Nothing Master Chief, I'm just thinking." The Marine saluted, and went back to guarding his post. Greg looked away, thinking again. Then, almost as if in revelation, he looked back at the Marine.

"Master Chief Michaels," he said in an authoritative voice. The Marine stood straighter, "Sir!"

Greg nodded, "Get me a line to someone on Orbath. We need to stop a war."

No, just that you were silent for a while there and suddenly burst in with Imperial Interests in taking Cripistani land after the joint Orbath/Anagonian message of unity. So, basically, we noticed you then and a secret part of the Republic is plotting to destroy you. Greg Paladin, who is a part of the public part, is trying to stop a war.

Thought I'd make an interesting plot twist after the many posts in the original thread.

And no, I haven't attacked you, just stationed two battle fleets patrolling your border if you noticed the posts.

The Border

The building was cleared. the heavily armed soldiers suprised the rebels, and quickly rescued most of the hostages. Inside they found that 4 hostages had been killed when the roof was blown in by the artillery shells and a further two were killed when a rebel fired an RPG nearby, aiming for Orbathain troops inside.

The forces were quickly sweeping into the CRU. They were given the order to halt. Some units were encountering heavy resistance and so dug in, taking cover in among trees and hills. They awaited the second wave of air support which came quickly.

F-36 aircraft streaked overhead dropping cluster bombs on formations of troops and vehicles. Following those, C-78 aircraft flew over, dropping a variety of munitions including cluster bombs, GBU-15, BLU-109, and AGM-130A. Following this was heavy shelling by 105mm howitzers.

In urban areas, GPS guided bombs were used, pilots seeking out areas areas without civilians. 105mm howitzers blindly fired tear gas shells into the city and UAVs began flying overhead, relaying data on rebel positions back to the enemy. This allowed Air Calvary units the chance to move in, picking rooftops and securing them, setting up firing positions.

Local City (Looking for the name of a local city)

6 UH47 Highwinds followed the 12 Black Panthers. The Panthers cleared the way, blasting at rooftops where soldiers with RPGs stood. The RPG fire was intense, helicopters dodging through waves of RPG fire. Soon they broke off into smaller groups.

Rooftop Delta

A rockets exploded on the roof, hitting several rebels. A UH-47 whirled around to allow a .50 gunner on the back ramp to engage several other rooftop targets. As soon as the roof was clear, the helicopter loaded and soldiers fast roped down onto it. Quickly, explosives were set on the door, programmed to go off if someone entered. Several soldiers also took up positions near the door, ready to engage those who entered. The remaining 15 soldiers took up positions on the rooftop. Snipers and section markman focused on killing nearby soldiers on rooftops, especially those with RPGs. The others focused on nearby soldiers in the streets.

In cities along the CRU CC border, this same type of fighting occured.

"We are perfectly willing to follow that plan, though."

Roberts, beside Patton, turned to their aides, whispering briefly; they then looked through their own various papers, coming up collaboratively with a suitable answer for Roberts, who took one of their papers and set it on the table.

"Gentlemen," Roberts began, speaking in the clearly understandable Errikan accent that he shared with Patton, "I have here the coordinates of a suitable place for you to begin, as well as some notable information about the population and such. Our men inform me that a census of sorts has already begun, albeit irregularly and without vigor. This should simplify matters, as a full census of the like that we wish for should come rather quickly once we put some priority behind it. This should allow a proper mass vote to go forward sooner."

Chief Commander Greg Paladin boarded a CH-53E Super Stallion with two of his closest Marines in tow. They did not grumble, they did not complain. When they got off shift, then they would express their deepest regrets and feelings. More than likely under the influence of a bottle of Anagonian Vodka. Besides the point, the Super Stallion lifted off with Greg and the two Marines in the passenger area, the mighty helicopter engine thumping the wind as they headed for the coordinates.

Two hours later, the Helicopter didn't stop. The passenger side door opened, Greg in full Marine outfit as he gripped a rope and threw himself off it along with his Comrades. They landed as the ropes that held them during their fall purposely broke loose, the Helicopter continuing as if on a random scouting mission.

All three grabbed their compasses, one a map with the location already on it. No technology was to be brought, as it was known that such devices under Anagonian frequencies would be picked up. They located the proper meet-up point and made it there in under twenty minutes.

Greg, along with his Marines, hid behind some cover as they stood and waited.

They grabbed their Assault rifles and went into prone, leveling their weapons at the General, then proceeding to gather who else was around. Greg turned around as if looking back, and knowing where to look found a hand signal for the all clear. He looked back and stretched, a signal back meaning he saw the same.

"Ah, General, nice to meet you. I am alone where I stand, I assure you." He walked forward, placing his rifle on his shoulders and coming to the General for a handshake, "I believe that there is an agency within Anagonia that intends to initiate hostile special operations against Errikland to eliminate them. They had the Chief Governors seal of approval, though I doubt he actually gave it." He reached inside a pocket and placed a piece of paper in the Generals hand. This political organization is not purely based on population, though that certainly is a factor, if you look at the massive desert ones in comparison to the smaller river valley ones. Even if they vote to leave the Empire, they may wish to keep this organization, as the Errikan development--from infrastructure to various political organization--is based around it, and keeping it would allow them to effectively take advantage of that.

Greg smiled at the news, then frowned. "No, they won't. One thousand Legion Assets, that I can gather, have been mobilized. I do know that the Soviet Legion troops under my command have my favor, and will not be participating. So that leaves the other million out of the picture." He spit on the ground, as if in a display of distaste. "I have my internal sources, as do all higher-ups in our countries military. I've already contacted the Anagonian Intelligence Agency and they can't do a damn thing. So its up to me."

He grunted, looking towards what seemed like an empty part of the dense woods. "My Legion Troops won't act against their own brothers and sisters, a code of honor and Brethrenhood that they act upon."

Greg made a motion with a finger, one that would be noticed, and suddenly two Marines in jungle fatigue with face paint emerged with rifles at the ready, they quickly made a walk beside Greg. "My Marines could do some damage, but not even they could fully incapacitate, or kill, a Soviet Legionnaire. I know, I've tried." He looked straight at the General, "I need help, damn good help. I don't know where they will start, or how they'll enter. For all I know they could enter through some trade route, which I can no longer close off due to my deal with Errikland. All Anagonian assets welcome them now, and it'd be a damn shame to take that back."

He spread his arms, showing an expression of submission. "I'm shit out of luck and will have to deal with a war. What do I do?"

Location- Azir(thats the name for the city Orbath)

The CRU soldiers saw the Orbathian forces approaching. They had few options, but decided that a fight would be the only way to remain a state. They quickly layed down mines on the street, and covered them up with sand, and rocks. Then they ran. They would wait for tanks, or soldiers to go over them, and then start their side of the battle.

The hidden mines were effective. They exploded under the tanks, knocking off their tracks. This forced the long convoys to stop and engage in bitter urban firefights with the enemy in attempts to rescue their tankers. However, the sheer size of the Orbathian attack meant that they were able to leave a small force to fight while a larger force went around and attacked the enemies rear.

Black Panther helicopters attack CRU T-72 tanks from the rear in Azir.

The Orbathain force was like a ball rolling down a hill that couldn't be stopped. When the resistance got tough, they dug in, refusing to retreat. This gave them a chance to call in artillery, air or naval support, blasting away at the enemy before they made a second charge. There next objective was to cross the Alsabad River. Intelligence stated that rebels had heavily dug in along the river, near bridges, not wanting to destroy them due to their vital importance but not wanting to give them up either. 6 bridges crossed this river in CRU territory, it would be up to the Orbathains to advance and secure it.

The General was suprised, he hadn't expected to be asked for advice.

''To be honest, I'm not sure what you should do. Is there any chance we can train the Cripistanis to go after them?''

Greg shook his head, "No. I wish we could, but they'd get killed just as soon. These guy's were trained nearly from birth to be killing machines. You can't beat that in two months of training." He sighed, "Honestly I don't know what to do, that's why I asked you. What should we do, update Errikland and possibly get a war on our hands?" The company the Grestonians were hiding in came up to a bridge where they were defending it from the Orbathian onslought. Lt. Korowick had a small group of the ex-Grestonians push up and destroy the Orbathian tanks, while he had an even smaller group set up motors on the bridges. They wouldn't destroy the bridges in fear of it destroying their path so if they were to fight from it that got rid of the chance of them being bombed, so the Orbathians would need to push infantry into the area. Getting infantry into the CRU lines protecting the bridges would take hours maybe even a day, and if they did get any in that was what the rest of Lt. Korowick's men were for. They were to cover the CRU men and to kill any Orbathian that got into sight.

The tank group were in amongst CRU soldiers firing RPGs at the downed tanks. The ex-grestonian companymen fired RPGs of their own at the tanks, and whenever an infantry man came into view automatic shells would turn him into swiss cheese.

While the anti-tank squad was setting up for a fight so was the men asigned to motors. There was about six bridges and they set up about six or seven on each. Every motor had 12 men to guard to it. The rest of the company dispersed throughout the CRU men and helped in the fight.

The CRU soldiers began fighting more valiantly than ever knowing that the Grestonians were aiding them. The had support, and were willing to fight to death. They began firing mortars at the tanks while reloading the RPGs. They only had a limited supply of each, so began holding off for a few minutes before firing another round.

Nearing The Bridges

The Orbathain units had begun to encounter resistance, thus the advance had been stopped. The tanks leading the charge were ambushed and attacked by heavy RPG and fire. However, due to the fact that the tanks were ahead of the infantry, the Watchkeeper defense system could be utilized. Also, due to fitted slat armor, even if an RPG made it past Watchkeeper, it often exploded against the slat armor, doing little to no damage to the tank itself.

The tanks began to engage the enemy forces, utilizing high ground and firing their 120mm main guns and 25mm co-axial guns. The volume of fire was heavy. Also, because the enemy soldiers had begun firing their RPGs, they gave their positions away, allowing tankers to call in for support.

Support came quickly. In most cases, it was in the form of many high explosive 105mm shells which ripped through the forested cover and into enemy flesh. In cases where high volumes of fire were reported, Tomahawk Cruise Missiles from local submarines were directed towards these locations.

Until the area was softened up, the soldiers would dig in. It would also give the soldiers in the city a chance to fight the enemy.

The RPG fire was effective at first like the mines. Then the Orbathain soldiers figured out what the rebels were doing. Instead of climbing out of the tanks, they sat and waited. Infantry soldiers rushed through alleys and into buildings, clearing them out, thus stopping the RPG fire. OAC soldiers were inserted onto rooftops and provided sniper support, aiming at the rebels with RPGs. Any large groups of rebels were engaged either by Black Panther helicopters or by lighter, faster IFVs who would cross intersections, firing down the road, and come back around, flanking the enemy.

Many of the soldiers were killed. Few RPG men were still alive, but stopped firing and ran. Luckily for the others without the RPGs, they could hear the direction of the snipers as they gunned down the RPG soldiers. These men quickly entered the building, and quietly climbed the stairs.

The men stopped and dropped their weapons. They all thought back to their horrible training being told a million times " Fight to the death!". The little group of ex-Grestonians that had the RPGs were practically blown away only a little bit of them was left. The little bit of them though continued their attack, a few where left to disable the Watchkeeper system and a few others got inside the house already being fought for. There was 14 men moving up to help the CRU men. six of them came in through the backdoor and the other eight climbed up the fire escape so they could disable the riflemen so their six men and the three CRU men could get onto the roof and take the snipers our.

The first few ex-grestonians that were climbing the fire escape saw a few Orbathian riflemen with plastic bags in their hands and they were walking towards the CRU soldiers. The building was crumbling so and there wasn't any glass in the window frame so the first man poked the muzzle of his AK-47 through the windo frame and derbe and took aim at the riflemen. Jacob Bite aimed his AK-47 though the window frame at the Orbathians aswell, but he held the AK in one hand and a frag which he would roll in in the other. The first ex-grestonian, Richard Harper, then let out a volley of shells into room trying not to hit the CRU men. Jacob then rolled the grenade down another hallway were he heard foot steps running towards their direction. Jacob rolled into the room and fired AK-47 rounds at the Orbathians. As the Orbathians turned around towards the invading group of eight the group of six came in from behind them, knocked the CRU soldiers out of the way and assited in firing rounds at the Orbathians. Richard threw a smoke grenade into the room so he and the rest could clear out the room and hallway. After the smoke rose he rolled in and and the rest on the fire escape jumped or rolled into the room.

The Greston soldiers didn't go unnoticed. As they climbed the fire escape, a Black Panther fired upon them with its 30mm gun. This wasn't effective though, as the rebels manged to enter the building.

The soldiers were completely taken by suprise. The combination of grenades and AK-47 fire left the entire section dead. However, the Black Panther helicopter pilot noticed the flash from the explosions in the broken out window. He tried to contact the section by radio but when they couldn't be raised, he prepared to engage the enemy. He circled the building, spraying it with 30mm fire before pumping it full of rockets. Then he contacted local forces.

In a few minutes, the building was surrounded by several companies of troops. The area was secured, meaning nobody would get in or out. A platoon entered the building from the ground, checking for booby traps.

CRU Territory

A second naval attack began, with hundreds of shells and missiles pounding select targets, mostly those near the bridges, the site of the next Orbathain forces.

A total of 36 C-78 aircraft, escorted by F-40 aircraft swooped in over the river area dropping cluster bombs on enemy positions and utilizing heaver munitions to engage bunkers. A second wave was prepared, and begun its flight towards the area, to provide support for ground forces.

Half of the Orbathain ground forces circled the cities, the site of the heaviest fighting. They ensured that noting would get in or out.The other half prepared for the assault on he bridges. 105mm howitzers airlifted from the rear were brought in, firing shells at rebel held positions along the border. Tanks pulled up, utilizing the forests as cover to fire at the rebels before disappearing and showing up somewhere else to do the same thing. The IFV units prepared, they would be leading the assault. Rather than dividing the forces up along all six bridges, only two would be attacked. This would allow a much large force to quickly attack and overcome the rebel forces. Not wanting to leave tanks on the bridges, creating obsticals, they were instead positioned at the various bridges, along with infantry units, to ensure the rebels couldn't launch their own attack. Black Panther helicopters began flying up, spraying the rebel held positions near the bridges with 30mm and rocket fire, before fleeing.

After the building had been won Black Panthers shot holes in the walls with rockets and 30mm fire.since the entire attack was held while they were closer to the ground the Black Panther didn't do any damage to the men. As they prepared for a counter attack a build up of Orbathians were around the house. Moments later a platoon of Orbathians came into the first floor. The men had five floors worth of time to protect themselves. The smoke from the smoke grenade still lingered in the air so one soldiers set up a 30 cal machine gun behind a table which was in the midst of the thickest part of the smoke. Three men aimed their AK-47s at the stairs while another four stood behind the wall next to stairs. One of those four had two frags in hand and another ten on the floor infront of him ready for use. The other three grabbed the zap straps and held them ready to strangle the first Orbathian the saw. The six men who ran up the stairs grabbed the three CRU soldiers and brought them up to the roof and they started sniping out parts of the Orbathian build up. The men inside the house saw their brake and threw the frags down the steps as they saw the first littlepart of a shoe stepping onto that set. When their bodies where visible they started with the AK-47s at the Orbathians. The Orbathians exchanged bullets with them and they threw more frags down there. While on the roof the Black Panthers started giving those men trouble so one ex-grestonian threw a frag inside the open side door of the helicopter.

The Bridges

CRU troops were scrambling all around going this way and that, while Orbathians started surrounding them. Bombs were dropped upon the areas near the bridges but not on them for their vital factor in the fight. The ex-grestonians on motors knowing that they were safe from being bombed started relentlessly firing the motors, at no specific areas but just where Orbathians were.

"Heres the coordinates, the Orbathians are strenghtening their movement, soon they will have their infantry on the bridges, and then we are screwed. As long as we keep the infantry back there we are safe and can keep pelting them. If their infantry gets to us we have no protection, small weapon rounds can't take down a bridge."

CRU Territory

The ex-grestonians that had dispersed throughout the crowds were now in small groups of maybe two or three when trying to kill Orbathians. A small amount of them were taken out from the sea assualt of the recent bombings. The Orbathians then tryed to close in the CRU fighting positions by surrounding them, but the ex-grestonians refused to go back and fired relentlessly at the Orbathians, they threw frags and even rocks at the Orbathians. The CRU soldiers were trained to fight to the death but everyone knew that was impossible especiallyu when they were trained for such a short time. These men had been trained for almost eleven years and had been in service in war time for what added up to eight years. These men were around when the nazi uprising occured, the first Grestonian conflict to ever happen in times after the daemon war. These men would fight to the death, which they were.

OOC: The Black Panther helicopter does not have side doors, so a grenade could not be thrown in.

The Building

It was decided that the building was too well defended to risk a further assault. Already they had lost several men trying to climb the stairs and a couple outside due to sniper fire. Instead they took up a perimeter and waited. A C-78 diverted from its normal course flew in, guiding a bomb right into the center of the building. The bomb exploded, ripping the building to pieces. The Black Panther helicopter flew over the ruins, searching for survivors and engaging them with its 30mm gun.

The Bridges

Mortar fire began hitting the IFVs and it was becoming a problem. Black Panther helicopters and Mammoth Multi Function Missile launchers triangulated the positions of the enemy mortars. Within minutes, missiles and shells rained down on the enemy positions. The largest bombardment yet occurred, in preparation for the for the final assault. The shells and missiles of the first fleet smashed at enemy positions for almost and hour. The sound of even more guns and missiles announced the arrival of the second fleet, positioned to the south of Cripistan. Thousands of shells and missiles rocked the CRU positions along the border. These were soon joined by 105mm howitzers and later, 81mm and 120mm mortars.

The assault came next. Tow bridges were selected, the two closest to each other. IFVs raced from the forests, turning onto the road and beginning to cross the bridges. As they did this, they fired upon the rebels with their various weapons, ranging from machine guns to 105mm guns. The tanks continued harassing the enemy from the forests, taking pot shots at the rebels as they tried to defend against the IFVs. To the rebels suprise, IFVs began rolling down the bank, into the river, and crossing the river. They were amphibious. Before the rebels could react. IFVs were behind enemy lines, attacking them from the rear. Black Panther helicopters joined in the assault, hitting enemy positions with their guns and rockets.

CRU Territory

The CRU Grestonians continued to be a pain. However, their attempts to hide among civilians failed, because when shots were fired, the civilians scattered, leaving the ''rebels'' in the open.

The Building

"Look their backing up." said Richard to one of his men while looking out the window. The platoon that tried to get in from earlier was blow to peices and when most of them were turned into swiss cheese from the AK-47s and parmason cheese from the frags anyone left alive on the stairs was strangled with the zap straps. No more attempts on the building were taken so the men sat there loading up keeping their positions while the men on the roof proced to snipe out men. After a while it was obvious that no one was coming so they relaxed a bit and then the building was snapped in half and the lower levels went up in flames and the higher levels collapsed into the flames The guys by the stairs died instantly and the four with the frags and zap straps died as the flame carried up the stairs, leaving one man with zap straps, the guy on the 30 cal and the nine on the roof. The men on the roof flipped off and landed on debre and dead bodies from the earlier fighting. But as one of the men stood up he was torn apart from the Black Panther firing at him, so the other eight layed there pretending to be dead. The guy on the 30 cal threw the gun out the window and he procededd to jump out as well, he had the smoke and debre from the falling builing on his side. It covered him from the attacking helicopters and Orbathians and ran out of the area.

The Bridges

Two bridges fell and another three were getting ready to. The ex-grestonians ran off of the bridges to be meet with Black Panthers pumping them with rockets and 30mm fire. The men decided that the Black Panthers were the threat so they aimed any motors still set up at the Black Panthers but while doing that amphibious IFVs started shooting at their backs while tanks were covering their sides. The remaining of the IFVs they shot earlier started pushing up giving the Orbathian Infantry some space to push up.

CRU Territory

The ex-grestonians started to loose their cover slowly but continued their assualt. As they pushed the Orbathians back more on other sides started pushinf up to kill the men on the bridges. Since they were behind parts of the Orbathian lines they attacked the infantry from the behind and parts started picking up RPGs from dead CRU men and shot at the IFVs' rears. The ex-grestonians had a few problems in this battle.

1) They were horrible out numbered
2) The Orbathians didn't have as much training but they had the gear and had helicopters, tanks, and IFVs when they only had infantry
3) The Orbathians took the building leaving the only high ground held by them gone
4) The Orbathians had pushed up quite a bit.

So the ex-grestonians had to put up with this as the fought off the Orbathians. Winning this battle would be a miracle. Or it could be very easy. Lt. Korowick then got onto his radio and radioed the troops that left the battle a day before this battle. "Have yopur guys get rid of anything Grestonian and then dress em up as if they were from the CRU. Then land farther back into the CRU and push up to defend the border. We have done as much as we could with only infantry. If we loose this city it is understandable, we weakened them for you. Meet up the CRU leader and have him push his men up to make a line farther from here so when, or if the Orbathians push past us they can be destroyed and stopped."

As he left the area and turned down the alley, he would find himself looking down the barrels of several M-16s, A SAW and a .50 cal machine gun mounted on a HMMWV. The .50 cal fired a few rounds in his direction as well as the M-16s.

Soldiers began moving in, weapons raised, to clear the building.

The Bridges

With the extensive RPG and mortar fire, the Black Panther helicopters were forced to pull out. However, as they did this, they relayed the coordinates of the enemy positions to incoming air support.

6 F-36 Gladius Aircraft didn't even need to get near. They dropped 24 JDAM bombs, each headed directly for the mortar positions. After this, they flew over the forests hiding the enemies with RPGs, strafing them with gun fire.

On the ground, the Orbathian force had captured two bridges. At these two sites, infantry from the rear were flown in and began setting up a defense. Many machine gun nests were constructed and claymore mines placed in the forests, ahead of Orbathain positions.

http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff216/PhotoOrbath/hmmwvandlavsecuring.jpg

Orbathian Forces secure the other side of the bridge.

The third bridge was about to fall, and so, the force originally for the defense, switched quickly to offense, rushing across the bridge and pushing the enemy back. 105mm howitzer shells rained into the forests south of the bridge, soon joined by mortar fire in an effort to keep the CRU soldiers back.

At the other bridges, fire from the ships and the artillery continued, softening them up for the coming attack.

Southern Cripistan

Hundreds of IFVs and LCACs landed on the beach. Helicopters hovered over a local naval port, allowing soldiers to fast rope in, quickly moving through, securing the port and moving civilians out. By this time tomorow, over 600,000 more Orbathain soldiers would set foot in Cripistan, in support of two operations. The first, Operation Reclamation would be the recapture of Erikland Cripistan should the Cripistanis vote in the Orbathain favor. The second, Operation Python, would be the capture of some of southern Cripistan, leading right into southern CRU.

The rebels had no other choice. They rather than trying to kill the enemy, they decided to blow up the bridges. This would delay the coming infantry so they could escape. All at once the CRU's attention turned to the bridges before they were blasted back by the bombs. Luckily for the ones who survived, the bridges were blown, so they could begin a retreat.

CRU Territory

Rather then retreat like their CRU friends a larger part of the ex-grestonians stayed and kept fighting. As the amphibious APCs and IFVs came out of the water they were greeted with RPGs being blown into their face. Frags were being thrown into the water to stop the IFVs from even touching surface again. Out of the four parts of the enemy troops that had given them problems three remained and one was nearly gone. All they had to do was push the infantry back, destroy a the tanks that were hiding in the forest then they could retreat and find safety with other native CRU soldiers.

The Building Structure

The nine men pretending to be dead still layed there as the battle around them grew louder but farther away. The Orbathians who had been surrounding the building had now moved up to kill the other ex-grestonians. While they were laying there they heard many rounds go off then a scream, someone must have tryed to run off but got caught. When the Orbathians had just about left the area they got up grabbed as much gear as they could and ran towards a neighboring building were they had three on the roof with sniper rifles and the other six on the level below it ready to protect from another attack, like the one they fended off in the other building.

The Bridges

Infantry soldiers had hidden among the woods and deep brush and hastily constructed machine gun nests and sand bag walls brought from the rear by UH-47 Highwind helicopters. They had also placed many claymores in the woods ahead, to kill the enemy before they even reached them. IFVs stayed well back, closer to the bridges to remain hidden. Should they be needed, they would race forward. At the other bridges, IFVs continued pouring across the river but began to be met by heavy RPG fire. Orbathian commanders had begun to get fed up. They didn't have time to stay this way however. All the bridges were destroyed except for the three already controlled by Orbathain troops. This prevented regular infantry from crossing but the Armored infantry had no problem getting across the river in the troop compartments of the IFVs. After they crossed, met by heavy RPG fire, infantry dismounted and began attacking the ''CRU Grestonians'' that refused to retreat. This began easier however because the rest of the CRU soldiers had begun to retreat. Well placed artillery shells, used in close proximity of Orbathain troops assisted them in trying to kill the soldiers with the RPGs. Then commanders made a desicion. Rather than pushing forward like they had been, they were ordered to find cover. Infantry soldiers and IFVs used the slope of the riverbank as cover laying heavy fire down into the woods. The IFVs used their thermal imaging to seek out the enemy as they hid and kill them. All along the river Orbathain troops stopped their advance. This gave them a distinct advantage. They could now also use cover and in allowed them to utilize heavy artillery and mortars again, without fear of killing their own soldiers.

FNS Nighthawk

The Nighthawk was a Wasp Class assault ship. Long ago the soldiers had hit the beach but the helicopters and the Air Calvary soldiers remained. The sky was begining to darken, made worse by what looked like a coming rain. On the deck of the ship, Blackhawk, Highwind and Black Panther helicopters began taking off, forming into an arrowhead and flying towards the CRU. Rather than flying directly over the bridges, they would fly along the CC border and come in from the northwest, dropping troops behind enemy lines.

The Building

The Orbathain troops were not stupid. Though they had begun to leave the area, their presence would still remain. Patrols by infantry soldiers and UAVs would continue.

Official Press Release By The Government Of Orbath To The People

''Following our long campaign in Cripistan, we are happy to inform the citizens of Orbath that our operations are going well and are quite effective. We have encountered little to no resistance in most places and have taken few casulties. I now open this session up for questions.''

A small bald headed reporter held a tape recorder high in the air. The room went quiet as his squeaky voice issued.

''I'm heard rumors of a second offensive launched on the southern coast in close proximity with other nation's claims. Are we looking at conflict with other nations?''

The man at the podium responded rather quickly.

''At this time, our forces have not stepped foot on the soil of any nation currently laying claim to any land. In fact, we are unsure if several of the nation still hold their claims. The point is, we are no looking at conflict, no.''

Another reporter rose, this time a younger black woman in a rather flattering pink business suit.

''Sources say that some sort of elections are being held on the claim currently held by Erikland. What is this about?''

The man at the podium was less quick to answer.

''At this time, in order to maintain operational security, I cannot answer that at this time, you may ask another question.''

The woman looking flustered fired off another one.

''Where does the nation of Greston fit into the picture?''

The man once again was slow to respond.

''They don't fit. They at first resisted our presence but with quick diplomatic skills, have left without problem.''

A young, clean shaved and bald man stood.

''Reports coming in state that Orbathain troops are encountering extremely heavy resistance in CRU territory. Are we going to pull through? Why are we encountering such heavy resistance?

The man responded.

''We are encountering heavier resistance yes, but nothing we can't deal with. The reason we believe for this resistance is we are fighting in the heartland of one of the only groups that resist our presence in Cripistan. Once we gain control over that territory, they will essentially have nowhere to base their operations from, thus eliminating the resistance.''

The press conference continued. Following that, the evening news showed a poll;

66% of Orbathains support the war.
30% of Orbathains are against it.
4% of Orbathain don't care/don't know.

The poll showed a that opinion remains much the same. Support is expected to drop as new bodies begin to arrive from the front lines of Cripistan.

"Stupid Orbathians. Paladin, how are our 17,000 in CRU?"

"Well sir, um, six thousand died, the rest haven't any means of communication thus making us think they are dead aswell sir." said the servant, Paladin who was coming into the Dining Tower after greeting people all night as they arrived at the Christmas Party.

"Ah that is good enough."

The Bridges

"Look they stopped pushing up! We've won!"

Then the small remaining group of soldiers fighting that hadn't retreated raised their arms and guns in the air cheering for their victory. But then Lt. Korowick who was among a small lot of six men said to the private who began the cheering, "Stupid Jimmy! Look, did they retreat? No. They are staying there leaving us at a disadvantage! They aren't reatreating. They are setting up for.."

He never finished his sentence because the person he was talking, to as well as four other people, were ripped to shreds as a motor passed through.

"GET DOWN!"

The remaining soldiers jumped down to the floor, and a few started firing at the small slope only for it to hit the grass and have dirt rip up off the ground. The men started loose hope, but then Lt. Korowick pointed out that the Orbathians were firing into the forest killing their own men when all of the CRU soldiers and ex-grestonians weren't in it. The small force was split into three groups. One group would go on a suicide mission by charging over the hill and attacking the establishing IFVs and Infantry. The second group would stay there and provide covering fire for the suicide mission. And the third, larger, group was back as far as possible and then flank the Orbathians from the side. The suicide group would weaken the middle defense making other parts of the defense weaken to keep the middle defense stronger. The third group would attak the weakened defense and hopefully destroy it, giving everyone else enough time to escape as the Orbathians staged a counter attack. After ten minutes of preparing the started their attack. Forty men were strapped with 40 frags each, with the pins pulled, on their chest and they ran at the IFVs, followin behind them at a good distance was 50 soldiers with RPGs and they fired at the IFVs, if they even made it up the hill, after the bombers were dead. Then behind the RPGs was 200 heavily armed infantry men, they charged as the RPG part of the effort started to collapse. They fired at anyone unprotected relentlessy knowing that this effort would decide the fate of a fledgling nation.

While the suicide mission was being stage the third group which had about 2,000 men went to the far left flank. They stayed under cover while the patrol slowly grew smaller to help the larger part of the defense against the suiciders. As more then half ran to the aid of others the ex-grestonians jumped in running as fast as they could. They got them by surprise so they were able to run right up next to them. The frontline of the charge started hitting the frontline of enemy defense with the butts of their guns as they ran past and the next line fired into the unconcious bodies. A third row of men set up heavy machine guns upon the dead enemies and started firing at the surviving enemies. A few men stayed at the top of a small hill to the side of the left flank's defense and shot at the IFVs defending. They fired like crazy hoping to give everyone enough time to get out.

The Building Structure

The nine men then noticed that there was to many Orbathians still there for them to make their move. They knew that their brethren would make enough camotion for them to get out.

Front - Bridges
As the enemy troops began blindly charging through the woods, they would find themselves hit with a barrage of munitions pouring from infantry soldiers weapons and the weapons of the IFVs. However, the attack came as a suprise and the soldiers on the ground couldn't coordinate proper mortar strikes, thus allowing enemy soldiers to rush through. Several bombers made it to IFVs or groups of soldiers, inflicting mass amounts of casulties.

With the bombers eliminated, soldiers could better focus in the RPG soldiers. Once again a barrage of fire was directed at the enemy soldiers and several well coordinated mortar shells were fired on their positions. The next focus would be the infantry to the rear as they advanced. This would be solved by several bombs dropped from a C-78 providing air support.

Flank - Bridges
The enemy attack came as a total suprise. Soldiers found themselves locked in grusome hand to hand combat with the enemy. Along the flank, soldiers fixed bayonets and showed the enemy what Orbathain hand to hand combat was all about. Orbathain soldiers were typically very well trained in close combat due to the fact that it was useful mainly in urban situations, made the soldiers tougher and promoted discipline and rapid response much like drill. All the training couldn't save them as they began to be overrun. They didn't have any reserves due to the fact that the reserves were not amphibious and thus, couldn't cross the river.
However, though most of the forces were too close to allow for support, a group had gathered on a hill making them a prime target for a well placed JDAM bomb. The bomb screamed in, smashing into the hill and sending bodies flying. With the fire from the hill eliminated, this allowed the soldiers of the flank the ability to counter attack. Soldiers normally defending the front, turned and attacked the flank.

Behind Enemy Lines
The helicopters cut through the air, traveling quickly. They had just received word that a counter attack had been launched by the CRU and Orbathain soldiers were taking heavy casulties. The helicopters began circling. There were tow many for just one LZ so several in close proximity were chosen.
Private Jackson looked down at the forest below. The green tree tops flew by as the helicopter moved at a quick pace towards the LZ. He was sweating quite a bit, he could feel the sweat running down his face over his camo paint. He quickly checked his weapon, an M-16, one last time. Before he knew it, he was sliding down a rope, through a gap in the trees, to the forest below. He was part of one of the first sections to hit the ground, and thus, was tasked with rapidly securing a perimeter. He didn't have time to think, only act. He rushed towards the edge of the clearing, his section alongside him. He chose to take up a position in a bush, behind a rotting log. The insects seemed to be unbearable but he didn't move. The soldiers had to remain quiet and hidden, even to the civilians. In the distance he could hear gunfire, lots of it. He could also make out the sound of mortar shells, but they were few and far between.
As soon as all the soldiers had hit the ground, their next task began. They had to head north towards the river.

The motors were aimed horribly thus ebabling them to still get closer. The bombers inflicted mass damage but from eliminating themselves they were helping the enemy while killing them. The bombers weren't re-useable so they ran dry quikly. The RPGs had set up and were firing only to be thrown back as one or two rare well aimed motor fires hit their position. Some of them died from the motors but a large part was still alive, so they continued firing on the IFVs and tanks. Not less then 20 yards away the infantry soldiers in the suicide force were marching in. As the first few motors ripped through the RPGs a small group of seven was taken out as well. in that group was the suicide groups leader, Sgt. Garrdever. As he fell a few soldiers ran to his aid. "Is he okay?" "What the hell happened to him?" "Will he make?" and other questions were blurted out then the attenion was turned to the man who had taken the head officer rank when Sgt. Garrdever died. He fell to the ground for no reason. Three people ran to him and his pulse was checked and his body was searched to see if he was hit. The same questions as before were asked then one man looked up and said, "He's asleep." for he had fallen to sleep for the lack of rest he had gotten. Most of the soldiers only had seven hours of sleep in the last four days.

Their attack was going on as planned. They had taken out most of the flanks men and recieved minimum causualties themselves. the most amoount of dead they had at a time was twenty as bombs were dropped upon the RPG group. But after a few minutes of it looking like a victory they started to lose their upper hand because the fire from the explosion gave the Orbathians time to counter attack. They started with hand-to-hand combat and many ex-grestonians fell for they were low on food and rest and most of their strength was wiped out of them. But Lt. Korowick kept pushing them and they continued fighting them. When the word freedom was mention they started fighting as hard as they did on the first day of combat. They hacked at the Orbathians and shot at them and fought like crazy and they slowly weakened the flank. As they brought the flank to almost nothingness, small groups of men were qued to run for it to make it out. Most of the flanking group had been qued and were running away from the area but Lt. Korowick stayed with 200 men and they ran past the front position of defense into the woods. They signalled a few of the men in the group that was covering fire to come over and they did. They all hid in bushes and behind trees and eased through the forest. The entire group suddenly stopped as they heard helicopters leaving the area. That was a signal to get into a ready position. They got a bit farther in and they came upon this one area that was so quite. It didn't even have the noise birds up ahead or small rodents down at their feet. Lt. Korowick whispered to a small part of his men, "Aim at all of the bushes in this area, then on two let loose some rounds, tell the rest." And he did so and then most of the group of men had their guns on aim at bushes surrounding them. Lt. Korowick whispered one then screamed two and they fired relentlessly for ten seconds at the bushes.

Bridges - Front

As the bombers were eliminated and the fighting continued, soldiers were able to better coordinate their mortar strikes, sending large amounts of shells into enemy soldiers. IFVs poured everything they had at the enemy, creating a massive hail of munitions. This storm of munitions ranging from 7.62mm machine guns to 30mm cannons blasted into the forest, ripping trees and soldiers to shreds. This gave the enemy two choices, take cover or be mowed down. The mortar rain stopped, allowing the infantry soldiers to prop themselves over the side of the riverbank. Soldiers with SAW and heavier .50 cal machine guns layed down heavy fire while soldiers armed with M-16s utilized semi auto and burst fire to hit the enemy with accurate fire.

Bridge - Flank \

As the Orbathains mounted a counter attack, the CRU found new strength, pushing through and taking refuge in the forest. Patrols attempted to locate them. One such patrol found themselves ambushed in a very inaccurate hail of bullets. This time they had a plan. Donning gas masks they called for several tear gas 105mm shells on the enemy position. These shells exploded, releasing tear gas and choked the enemy, made it hard to see and made them begin to barf. The patrol rushed their position, bayonets fixed. Their war cry was simply,

''Surrender or die!''

Their plan worked and tore up the enemy, death wasn't surprising, it was actually part of the plan. Everyone that hadn't died in the motor rain ran to retreat. The Orbathians continued firing at the forest which was good because barely anyone was in it. They were just detroying trees.

'' Do you hear that?''

''Hear what sir, I can't hear anything except our weapons.''

Sure enough, as the hail of bullets slowed, thermal imaging revealed that the forest was empty. Cheers erupted in the ranks. Their happiness was short lived however. It was up to them to collect the bodies of the dead and tend to the wounded. UAVs were also launched, to figure out where the enemy had gone.

Behind Enemy Lines

Private Jackson and his Section crept quietly through the woods. They hadn't encountered any hostiles yet, though they had almost been spotted by an old farmer and his horse, traveling along a road that crossed their paths. The Air Cav didn't take the road, rather they traveled through the dense brush towards the river.

Jackson gripped his M-16 tightly in his hands. His eyes were slits on his camoflauge painted face. They scanned the trees, looking for any signs of the enemy. His ears listened. He could hear explosions, mortars, the chatter of machine guns and the sound got closer. Then it all stopped. His Section Commander noticed too. He stopped us for a moment, listening to his radio. He made a motion with his hands, signaling that the enemy was ahead.

Jackson found himself gripped with fear. He followed his Section Leader, raising his rifle to his shoulder, watching the world through his sights. The Section advanced, probably about 75 more feet before the Section Commander signaled the Section to halt, then go prone. To his left and right, 29 other sections, including two heavy machine gun sections, each of 12 soldiers had done the same.

Jackson looked down his sights, lining them up with the head of an enemy soldier. He waited for the order.

''Fire!''

He pulled the trigger, letting a two rounds from a three round burst enter the mans head. Quickly he lined up the sights with another target, pulling the trigger. Around him, soldiers with M-16s did the same. Those with SAW or heavier .50 cal machine guns sprayed the enemy with a barrage of bullets. A few seconds later, a 105mm shell fell into the middle of the enemy group. The Air Calvary units used smoke grenades, creating a huge cloud and retreated back to where they had came from, hoping that, combined with the 105mm shells and a few claymores they had just layed would slow or stop the enemy.
