Then why did you edit out turbolaser/blaster/what-have-you, if they're the same thing?

And Scientifically Speaking as long as you are not in an atmosphere there is very little pressure on your ship during interstellar travel therefore it feels like the ship is still.
Erm. No. You'll have the same amount of friction (read: none) no matter how fast you go, but you'll still be affected by inertia. Thus, you'll be splattered against the back wall like a nail-studded balloon.
