Opening a public archive, regarding events expired on Springfield Island.

The Royal Code
26-11-2007, 06:36
In light of the recent aggressions against the Allied States of The Royal Code, the ASRC command staff has prepared this public announcement to clear up standing confusion about the incidents that have occurred on Springfield Island.

In light of the recent ‘Defensive Pact’ being formed by several nations, many of whom claim their reason as ‘protection from the royal code’, the ASRC command staff has decided to retrieve recent documents and public transmissions from the expired events on Springfield Island.

All of the following events have been documented either on-film, on-archive, or by overwhelming eye witness testimonies.

It is hoped that this collection of public statements, archived by historians of all nations involved, will help to clear the cloud of confusion regarding the events expired on Springfield Island.

Acts of Intentional Hostile Aggression by The Beatus:

-Post #34:
“The large explosion was detected at Jose Naval Air Station. They're RADAR showed a plane to have been in the vicinity of the blast area at the time of the explosion. More planes were inbound. Immediately fighters were launched to intercept what they could only guess to be bombers. Within minutes they had visual contact with a flight of B-52's. They bore unfamiliar markings and had penetrated Springfield Island airspace. The lead fighter made an open band radio broadcast, "Attention unidentified B-52's, you have entered restricted airspace, alter your course now or we will open fire."

This was the action taken by The Beatus in response to the ASRC using high explosives to clear landing zones for transport helicopters.

“Any breaking of these rules, may result in military action, and death of those in direct violation.
Signed,
Trevor Gabors,
Governor of Beatusian Holdings on Springfield Island”

Singling out, in this post, the open threat, with intent to kill. Rated as hostile.

Jose Naval Air Station, Springfield Island Colony

The base had been on alert since the incident with the B-52's and detected the flight of aircraft on RADAR. They knew the craft were too small to be transports of any kind, and decided to send some fighters to check it out. Within minutes of the RADAR detection 6 F-104 Starfighers were inbound to toward the unknown RADAR contact. Within moments they had visuals on the unidentified aircraft. The first pilot to spot the planes radioed back to base, "This is Tango-1 calling Delta Base, we have sighted the targets, they appear to be ground attack aircraft and are firing on ground targets, please advise."
The base commander responded, "Tango-1 attempt to contact unidentified aircraft, if they fail to respond, take them down, this i Delta Base, over."
The pilot attempted to contact the unidentified aircraft,
"Attention unidentified ground attack aircraft, you are in restricted airspace, break off your attack and exit this airspace now."

Again, enforcement of laws encroaching air commerce.

“Official Message
To all with colonial holdings on Springfield Island,
Any and all military aircraft sighted above Springfield Island from this point onward will be fired upon, we will offer one warning shot, if the aircraft does not break off its course and make for international waters immediately, we will shoot it down. You have been warned. Thank you and have a nice day.
Signed,
Trevor Gabors,
Governor of Beatusian Holdings on Springfield Island”

This time, an open public threat! And what’s worse, the public tolerates it.

“Beatusian Holdings on Springfield Island

Now that the tensions elsewhere had ended more military assets were brought to the area. 10 Aðgætni Class Battleships and 46 Philip Tonstung Class Destroyers moved into the area. Also bases had already been constructed on the main land, and a sturdy concrete reinforced wall had been erected along the main land boarder. Shore batteries and anti aircraft missile systems had also been installed to protect Beatusian interests. More fighters had been flown in bring the total number of F-104's to 200. Land equipment had arrived just last week and was fully ready to respond to any threat to Beatusian holdings. The governor had also mandated constant air superiority missions over the island to insure that no aggressive aircraft would get the upper hand.”

This is relatively speaking, the first major assumption made by The Beatus. A huge mistake.

“As the C-130's and F-22's entered Springfield Island airspace they were met by 12 Beatusian F-104's. The F-104's fired warning shots with the tracer rounds from they're guns, and waited for the unidentified aircraft to alter they're course.”

Once again, the beatus threatens to take life. Openly hostile.

“As the helicopters entered Springfield Island airspace, 4 F-104's descended on the flight of helicopters, and warning shots.”

Yet again, open hostile threats by the beatus.

“The helicopters failed to yield to the warning shots. When the pilots realized this, they opened fire with they're 20mm cannons on the helicopters.”

The beatus draws first blood. Shooting down unarmed, unescorted non-hostile, transport helicopters.

“…Official Message

To those who have territory on Springfield Island,

The Beatusian Forces will no longer be able to insure the safety of your colonist form external forces. The Allied States of The Royal Code is invading, and if you do not wish your civilians to be harmed, I suggest you evacuate them ASAP, it may already be too late. Also you may wish to send in more military forces to secure your territory. Any assistance would be greatly helped. If you contact me about helping in the defense, your military aircraft will be allowed over the island.

Signed,
Jim Lange
Acting Leader
The Theocracy of the Beatus”

The Beatus automatically assumes that the ASRC will invade, take over, or destroy either Springfield, or the beatus, when no such claims have been made by the ASRC, and the beatus had attacked first.

“To Governor John Hessley,

Due to the current situation, the impending invasion, we are unable to assist you. Sorry, but things are tough all around.

Signed,
General Harrison Ford,
Commander of Beatusian Defense Forces
Springfield Island Colony”

For at least the 3rd time thus far, the beatus openly admits to assuming the ASRC will invade, when, as reminded, the ASRC has not made any statement of intention thereof.

“Beatusian forces were patrolling the unclaimed territory of the Island, Ensuring the The Royal Code did not attempt anything. A Beatusian Soldier was separated form one of these patrols and wandered into The Royal Code territory. He though he was going back toward his camp, but had been so mixed up he didn't know which way was which.”

Due to the negligent intelligence (or whatever department responsible) staff of the beatus, they allow their own men to ‘wander’ into Royal Territory, during a time of war. Viewed as baiting conflict.

“The soldier may not have know where he was but he knew his orders. Any enemies were to be shot on sight. He brought his gun up to his shoulder aimed at the enemy, and hesitated for a mere fraction of a second…”

The Beatian soldier, dispite the non-hostile appearance of the Royal Army private, raises his rifle to shoot the unarmed soldier.

“The second the enemy moved, the soldier opened fire, drowning out anything the enemy might have said. He fired off ten rounds, trailing right up to the large tree. If the enemy had been seconds slower he would have taken a bullet. The soldier hoped that the sound of his fire had alerted others in the area.”

The Beatian, dispite NOT being fired on, or threatened in any way, fires on the unarmed army private, with intent to kill.

“The soldier, Sargent Prims, heard the sniper shot. He dived behind a rock and heard some one tell him he was going the wrong, way. They obviously though he was an idiot. He knew they were The Royal Code troops, why did they insist on trying to deceive him, especially after shooting at him. He pulled out a grenade, pulled the pin, and lobbed the grenade in the direction of the enemy sniper. Moments later a large cloud of smoke occupied the space between him and the enemy. He got up, fired the last ten rounds of his clip wildly into the smoke and took cover in a bush on the other side of the clearing.”

The Beatian, for the 2nd time, fires into Royal Territory, with intent to kill.

“Sargent Prims, had an idea of the direction and angle of the enemy sniper fire, and there for put the sniper somewhere up on that ridge, he had no idea where. He loaded a new clip but the bipod down aimed at one end of the ridge and fired 20 rounds, a full clip, across the ridge. He knew that if he hit anything, chances were it wouldn't be hitting back. He loved the 7.62mm cartridge, had much more power than a 5.56mm cartridge.”

For the 3rd time, The Beatian Fires into Royal Territory, with intent to kill, after ignoring no less than 3 attempts by the Royal Army to establish contact.

“Once these demands are met, then we will make peace with you. If you kill another of our soldiers, we will take action against you, it is only because of our deep compassion that we do not level your colony now.”

The Beatus threatens to take military action, including ‘leveling’ Royal Territory. An open, public, threat to the ASRC.

“To the Royal Army Command Staff,

What do you take me for, an idiot. "Oh, he wandered into our territory and fired first." You must think me stupid if you expect me to believe that highly continent turn of events. As for the first time, military aircraft are not needed to ensure economic safety. You were building up for an invasion. You are the one how does not deserve to call your nation of savages "sovereign". You think because you are bigger you can bully use into doing as you say. You act as if your nation is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Maybe instead of initiating wars, you should take a long hard look at your foreign policy, and why you have no allies. You act as if we should drop to our knees and bow before your nation as if it is some kind of god. Well we won't, we will not bend or break, we will stand our ground, to the last man, because we are the one's who are in the right. We have that on our side, you started this war, you probably though we would just bend to your will as so many others have, well I got news for you, your a bully, and the only way to beat a bully is to stand up to them, and that is exactly what we are doing. Now what are you going to do about it?

Signed,
Jim Lange,
Acting Leader
The Theocracy of the Beatus”

The Beatian’s disregard the statements made by the ASRC, dispite eye witness accounts on both sides. The Beatus goes on to rant about the ASRC political stance, how the ASRC ‘has no allies’ when the ASRC, in fact, is part of the Corporate Alliance, alongside Urcea. Comments about ‘bullying’ are made by the beatus, dispite the fact, on both occasions of interaction, the beatian’s fired the first shots.

“To Royal Army Command Staff,

So be it. You have sealed your own fate. We have, time after time, strived to avoid this but if you refuse to listen to reason, than we have no other course of action. We pity your people, for they're commanders are incompetent fools who have borough death and destruction upon themselves.

Signed,
General Harrison Ford,
Commander of Beatusian Defense Forces
Springfield Island Colony”

The Beatians again, threaten the ASRC, and openly insult Royal leadership.

“The time had come. All Beatusian radio communication on the island ceased. Bases went dark, and troops moved into the jungles. Within a matter of moments all activity at all Beatusian bases vanished. On moment compounds were full of troops and then they were empty. The bulk of the Beatusian forces melted away into the jungle. Within a half an hour, all Beatusian airbases had launched all they're aircraft. Most Beatusian military assets simply vanished over the course of a half hour.”

To that point, the most openly hostile act taken by The Beatus. A large scale military manuever.

“[ooc:my forces are mobilizing alright!]

After a few hours trek across the island, Beatusian forces reached the Royal Code territory. Edwardo Listless's squad of 12 men was on the front lines of the assault force, which numbered around 400,000 ground forces. Most ground forces were armed with M14's though there were approximately 80,000 machine gunners armed with M2's. He lead his men through the jungle toward the Royal Code territory. As they approached the border they slowed they advance, keeping an eye out for any movement ahead of them. They continued they're slow advance into the Royal Code territory. They were being very cautious. Meanwhile, in less dense parts of the the spearhead of the armored divisions(approximatly 2000 M60A3's) was just reaching the Royal Code boarder. The spearhead was a line approximately 40 tanks across.

The M60A3's made a lot of noise, but surprise was not the objective, fear was the objective. They continued to rumble into the Royal Code territory. The Royal Code still had not sighted the Beatusian aircraft since they left they're airbases.”

This announcement clears any standing confusion. The Beatus has invaded Royal Territory. Let me restate: The Beatus INVADED Royal Territory, DISPITE, repeated attempts to establish peace by the ASRC.

Defensive Actions or Statements made by The ASRC:

"Did he just? He did. You heard him, peel it off."
The three B52's pulled a 15* left bank, and made haste back to the sea to catch the refueler. Meanwhile, with only one cleared LZ, the other 90 civilian helicopters set down wherever they could find a clear spot. The reports were sent back to Beth (ASRC Capitol) for the Chancellor to consider. Both Pershing and Nestor awaited the Chancellor's opinion with much anxiety. But nonetheless, 1,500 heavily armed civilian contractors were on the ground, and mounting up. They formed into companies and began to push the boarders north, alongside the river in grid E8, pushing the claims of The ASRC into most of grid square E8 north of that river.”

In response to the open threat, which included intent to kill, the ASRC pulls away, and continues to expand legitimately on the ground.

“By week's end, the Royal Navy had a strong presence just offshore of Springfield Island. Two Royal Battle-groups with enough firepower to level the entire island, three times over, were stationed 100 miles off-shore to the east. Communiques went out to the other naval groups in the area to avoid any accidental mishaps.”

In this post, the Royal Navy makes it’s presence felt, and showing that the ASRC will not be pushed around by unjust laws. It also clearly states that communications went out to ensure no mishaps. Rated as Defensive.

“A renewed expedition of over 1,000 of the partisans began to push the ASRC boarder even further west. The boarder was pushed out on a parallel, stopping on a boarder displayed here.

As the boarder was pushed, Pershing of course didn't want to trouble the Elgregian settlers, so he sent out a lone humvee across the boarder in search of any Elgregian personnel to deliver the letter to. It read:

To the leaders of the Elgregian Colony,

The Allied States of the Royal Code would like to forge a friendly status with the nation of Elgregia, so that we may relax our boarders to focus on more important issues at hand. Due to our recent expansion inland, we have completely enveloped your northern boarder. As compensation, the ASRC would have no problems at all in allowing the forces of Elgregia to freely pass through our territories north of the Elgregia colony. We could make powerful allies, please consider our offer.”

This was a public announcement of friendship with a neighboring nation, which was later accepted.

“"Keep it going," the lead pilot said. "If they take us down, they'll have to answer to the 2nd fleet." he looked over at his copilot, who was shaking he was so nervous. "Relax," he said, "if we get one comin at us, we'll let the bird go, and take a swim!" The copilot chuckled a little.

It was game time, now or never.

This would be the moment that would decide it all, rather or not the Beatus Air Force would commit and act of war upon the 2nd most powerful nation involved in the colonization of springfield island.

The pilots palms left a glistening sweat under the moonlight as he tightly gripped his controls.”

The ASRC does NOT engage. Does not present a hostile target in any way shape or form.

ASRC declares war in response to being attacked. (this was a long post)

The ASRC Parliament deems action need be taken to make sure the ASRC colony survives.

“To the nation of Beatus,

In light of your recent attack on unarmed Royal aircraft, the parliament has moved to declare a state of war between our two states. Royal military protocol for armed conflict of this nature states that we, as the defending nation, may, without limitation, defend the territories we have acquired in the field of conflict. Your islands will not necessarily be invaded or struck by long range weaponry. The international picture for other nations certainly wouldn't look well, the tourist attraction to the island would be decimated and the economy of the island would implode. To uphold such respect to the investor nations of the area, The Royal Code's armed forces have opted to operate in our Defense Protocol 1 system. This simply means, any aggressive attacks by the nation of Beatus will be met by one counter-attack by the nation of the Allied States of The Royal Code. The ASRC has no intentions of taking all of Springfield Island, or wiping out the nation of Beatus. We do, however, have unrestricted rights to traditional commerce implications, and will not stand to have our economy discriminated upon. For every ally the Beatus brings into the conflict, the ASRC will meet with 1 ally. The ASRC has no intentions of making the dispute a global problem, and limited warfare is a top priority.”

This is the first public announcement that the ASRC has NO, I repeat, NO intentions of taking over the island, or engaging in aggressive warfare with any nation, unless in defensive warfare, which, as it turns out, the beatus later invades royal territory. Go figure.

“First Sergeant Polston happened to be on the line, when he got COM from one of his long-guns that they had a bandit on the perimeter.
"First Sergeant, i think he's.... yeah, he's Beatian. Straggler or something."
Polston replied, "Get somebody down there, let him know we're coming, and let's get this chap kindly pointed in the other direction."
"Roger that First Sergeant." The sniper clicked off his COM switch, and went to short-wave radio, "Private Reynolds, come in."
"Reynolds, go."
"Private, First Sergeant says you need to get down there and give that guy directions. Yell out, make sure he knows you're comin'. Ya hear me?"
There was a pause. "Yeah... roger that. Out."
The Private took off his camoflauge jacket to make himself more visible, and went down the ridge to meet the wanderer.
When they came within eyesight, the private yelled out as loud as he could, "Freeze sir, freeze! This is the Royal Army! Hold your fire! I am coming to you!"
The Private waited for a response. The trees swayed overhead in a light whisper.”

In response to the Beatian ‘wanderer’ the Royal Army attempts to contact the man, via a unarmed, un camouflaged private.

“Reynolds saw the man take aim and wasted no time to grab some cover behind a large tree. He stuck his arm out, waving up and down yelling out again, "Hold fire! Hold fire! You're going the wrong way!" He yelled it so loud, that even a few hundred meters back on the ridge, the sniper radioed Reynolds, complementing him on the amplitude of his voice.”

For the second time, without presenting any hostilities, the army private again tries to communicate with the beatian.

“The sniper on the ridge sighed in dissapointment. "Ok Reynolds, " he said over the radio, "I'll scare him off."

The sniper fired one shot and deliberately missed the soldier's head by several inches, to ensure he deffinately would hear the shot fired, and the bullet whiz by. "Stay low Reynolds. He knows we've got long-guns on him now..."

After the shot went out, and the Beatian stopped firing for a moment, Reynolds tried to call out to him once more, repeating his previous message.”

Even after being shot at, the Royal Army, AGAIN tries to communicate with the Beatian. This marks the 3rd attempt.

“The sniper laughed to himself as he watched the enemy soldier come out of concealment and shoot randomly across the ridge.
"Well, that's a shame," he whispered.
He settled his sights on the man's face, and squeezed a single round off. The deed was done, and the jungle fell silent.”

After being shot at no less than 3 times, and after no less than 3 failed communication attempts, the Army sniper, after first firing a warning shot, is forced to kill the attacking Beatian, in order to save the retreating Army private (Reynolds), let alone himself.

“To the nation of The Beatus, Jose NAS,

During a brief shootout on the territorial boundary, one of your soldiers, identified as a 'Sergeant Prims', neglected to acknowledge Royal Army efforts to safely redirect him out of Army territory. He decided to fire upon Army positions despite our efforts to communicate with him, and was shot in turn. The Army currently has possession of his body, which has been sealed in an airtight container for preservation. We wish to deliver his body back to his own brethren. The ASRC would like to place him on a small ship, and have his body sent to the city of Gif, where he can be handed over to your nation. We would like this to be the last time our armed forces encounter each other on a hostile basis.”

The ASRC, puts out a statement to The Beatus, explaining their own negligence, closing the message with hopes of NO future hostile contact, not to mention, the ASRC willing to deliver the body, as honorable foes may do.

“To the nation of The Beatus

Your soldier wandered into our territory during a time of war, did not respond to negotiators, and did not withdraw after a warning shot. There was nothing more that could possibly have been done to save his life, especially considering the soldier of The Beatus fired first, with intent to kill. We urge you to re-read our war protocol, as for every attack you make, the allied states will match it. We will not go to a state of aggressive war with The Beatus, but if beatian forces attack Royal forces, first, then, and only then will the ASRC attack in-return. We have stated our protocol time and time again. The Beatus aparently see's itself under some sort of 'invasion' by Royal Armed forces, but the reality of the situation is, the ASRC took action to lift sanctions to protect our economic interests, and nothing more. Both times the nations of the ASRC and the beatus have exchanged live rounds, the Beatus has fired first, despite, our passive presence and activities. The Allied States of The Royal Code will not stand to be threatened by a nation who can barely call itself sovereign, in the grand scheme of nation timelines. The ASRC is declaratively enganged in a defensive war, wheras we will defend ourselves to ensure the protection of merchant economic activity, such as our road construction program.

-Royal Army Command Staff”

For the second time, the ASRC explains the nature of it’s defensive political status, again reminding The Beatus that the ASRC has NO intentions of taking over Springfield, or engaging in offensive warfare. It is stated that the ASRC will defend its territory, and nothing more.

“Whispering to himself over the chart laid out before him, Admiral Nestor drew up some quick figures. Given the distance they would have to cover, the Beatian aircraft would need some time to reach Royal territory. That would give him enough time to get most of his aircraft launched.
He looked up at his comrades and said, "Get every plan into the air, now, and i mean now"
The eight carriers of 2nd Fleet sprang to life, and began launching dozens of fighters and interceptors which quickly began to bulk into hundreds, as they took to attack altitude.
Up high in the clouds they would wait for the Beatians to make the mistake of making the first move.
580 naval fighters based off 8 carriers took to the skies to defend the fleet, and royal territory.
To support their aircraft with missiles and automatic weapons, the 2nd fleet began to shift itself closer to royal territory where the dogfight was expected to take place.
Meanwhile, on the ground. Royal Forces had to be consolidated, and pulled back off the line to prepare a more tactical defense. What few combat vehicles they had were moved to discrete locations. Dispersal would be the one factor the small force on the ground in royal territory had to their advantage.
No more than 4,500 men would stage a tactical defense of Royal Territory.
Clearing the skies, between hundreds of aircraft, and a huge fleet, would not be nearly as problematic as defending ground positions from land invasion...
[ooc: Stoklomolvi- consider your men unseen due to the withdraw. The Beatus- i'm interpreting your writing as saying your forces are mobilizing, right? If not i'll have to edit the hell out of this post =P ]”

Stated as clearly as possible, the Royal Army/Navy again states it’s intent to engage in defensive warfare to protect Royal Territory against a coming Beatian Invasion.

“Pershing made the call. With so much trouble headed his way, he ordered all his troops to pull back to the Verdun area. As they pulled back, the skillful civilian 'contractors' planted hundreds of improvised explosive devices, and thousands of various other booby traps. The road to Verdun would not be one easily taken.

2nd Fleet was inbound to the Verdun Harbor area, while her many hundreds of aircraft soared high overhead, ready to pounce the moment the Beatus made the first shot.”

The ASRC prepares to repulse the Beatian Invasion. Rated Defensive.

If you took the time to read these posts, good for you. Then you can probably see where I’m coming from. The ASRC is being labeled as a ‘bully’ when, on every single occasion, the ASRC was attacked first, when all the ASRC wanted was free air trafficking. It strikes me as unbelievable that the ASRC has been made out to be the evil no-good-doers in this fiasco, when the story is right there! In plain view.

Who’s really the victim here? The nation who in reality has been ‘bullying’ around the colonies with unjust air traffic laws, and shooting down unarmed helicopters, and invading a nation’s territory unprovoked? Or the nation who stated again, and again, and again, that they had NO intentions of attacking anyone, or conquering anything? You be the judge.

This concludes the opening of this public archive. The floor is open for discussion.

Biased on the opinion of a biased opinion.

Transport by an unarmed helicopter is no more aggressive or un-peaceful as transport by ship. Point dropped.

Official Response

Stoklomolvi declares these documents to be biased and selective. While they do hold a somewhat legitimate point, they exclude all outside influences, including the first set of unaltered rules detailing the forbidding of all military aircraft. Stoklomolvi would also like to point out that the Royal Code is the ONLY nation who attempted to use military aircraft, while all other nations used ships and peaceful methods to transport their civilians and clear the jungle. The Royal Code, on the other hand, used explosives dropped from bombers. This set of documents is clearly biased.
