"This just in, President Atar Algahar has been shot while giving a speech in Ghadam just 4 minutes ago. He has been rushed to the Ghadam Hospital, the severity of his injuries is unknown," said Jennifer Rayne, a Shiloban Reporter, "the alleged shooter is believed to belong to the group of Gundaham Fahar, a group much like the american mafia. The government has been having trouble with these people recently."

Governmental Headquarters of the United Republic of Shiloba

"This is bad. No wait, let me re-phrase this: this is a national crisis. It's also bad," said Fhiye Harad. Fhiye was in charge of military actions. He made sure the missles were built, the soldiers were sharp, the tanks were ready, basically he was in charge of the United Republic's Military.

"I don't wanna sound stupid sir, but what's our next move," asked one of the men in the room. Silence. The young man was beginning to regret having asked that question.

"Well we know what we're NOT gonna do: nothing. I think our smartest move is to go after these guys, obviously they pose a threat to the government, we lost President Amdar to assasination three years ago, and by god that can't happen again," said Fhiye.

"No . . .," said one of the men. The nation had once had a problem with a terrorist group in Shiloba known as Ghihad. They killed 9,000 in a bombing strike at a stadium.

"Yes. I'm sad to say this, but we're going to have to use military power to get rid of them. Men, if this is done wrong, our nation could fall prisoner to civil war, we could even go into anarchy. So you ask: why do this? The answer is to save the greatest man our nation has ever seen."

Everyone in the room knew what was going to happen. The United Republic of Shiloba was going to war. War was not something the citizens liked, but it has to be done.

"Now if you would excuse me," began Fhiye "I have an important phone call to make." Fhiye walked out of the room, he was doing something that hadn't been done in many many years.

He was putting the nation into DEFCON 1---Maximum War Readiness. Fhiye was also putting the nation into war.

"Hello. Yeah hi. This is Fhiye Harad, you know me. . .yeah I really am doing this. . .what you think I should let them do this again? Set DEFCON Level to 1, put all military personnel onto maximum readiness. In 72 hours, troop deployment will begin, because as of now, the UNited Republic of Shiloba is at war."

"This is Station Vi 1 to Sol'vi, requesting information on inbound flight
AM-09842."

"This is Sol'vi to Station Vi 1, we are to tell you that the inbound flight falls under the Secrecy Act, Article 17, Clause B. It does not exist, and to reveal that it does exist will put you on a treason charge."

"Received over."

--------------------------------------

North of the mainland of Alfegos are a string of small islands that acted as the first means of contact between Alfegos and the massive ocean shipping lanes. Of these, Los'ne'vi is the second smallest and most remote: 320 miles from mainland Alfegos, and 70 miles from the nearest population centre, it is a grim place to work. Here can be found a large weather station, as well as Station Vi 1: a shipping and aircraft routing station, that monitered the sea and sky lanes for any maydays, or unusual occurances. The small landing strip the island had was submerged for 12 hours a day: it was so long compared to the island that it was built in the small bay of the island, and used only occasionally for relieval, supplies and for emergancy landings of fortunate planes that chose their timing to call mayday very carefully.

Currently, the runway was dry, the water having left it 2 hours ago and the sun shining as it did in this tropical nation. Coming down towards it now was a small aircraft came down to land. It had not issued a mayday, but was here for a rendezvous. So far from Alfegos, it was easier for arrangments to be made, unlike if this occured somewhere such as Liberty airport.

As it was, from the small complex of buildings surrounded by a concrete flood wall came 5 men in military uniforms. All except one was armed, that person carrying a large black suitcase.

A few moments later, after the suitcase and a sheaf of papers were handed over to the 3 people who stepped out. A breif discussion later, and the men had stepped back into the plane, and took off again from the airstrip.

----------------------------------

There was a saying in the Alfegos government that, though uttered by many, was only truely understood by 4 men: "An enemy of my enemy is my friend".

This agreement between the highest echelon of Alfegos government and the Alfegos Underground Mafia, as well as stopping any illegal weapons, drugs and information being sold also allowed Alfegos to have a valuable eye on terrorist organisations across the world.

The Æ1 million in cash came with a massive list of details on the target. This was the new Shiloba terrorist group. The mafia need not fully infiltrate them to gather information: its many contacts already assured its general understanding of the picture.

All they needed to do was to grab the leader, have "words" with him, and then flush his memory out so that he did not remember the experience. The perfect torture is one that the victims can't remember, so can't show any signs of.

That was why the flight, before landing as a civilian aircraft somewhere along the lines, had alerted standby grab teams to gain the Shiloba terrorist leader. While highly frowned upon by many people in fiction, getting terrorists to fight terrorists is perhaps the best form of counter-terrorism.

--------------------------------------

Loa Oln'dai sat in the cabin of a small fishing boat as it creaked across the seas to Shiloba. She was not a mafia sister, or even a big sister. She was a Fego'dai, an actual daughter of the Fego'fai himself. She was the second highest rank to the top man, and being his eldest daughter would inherit the mantle of the head of the entire "family".

She idly cleaned a stripped-down mini-uzi, taking care not to mess up her "modified" sections, such as the cannablised mount for an under-barrel grenade launcher. Behind her in the small galley sat the other 7 men in her team. They were all highly trained, being some of the upper members of the family. They were here for stealth and undetectability: use a hired van to snatch the terrorist leader, interrogate him then mindwash him.

First though, to find him.

I must at first express my, and Grand Prince Ewing's, great concern regarding President Algahar. It is our sincerest hope that a full recovery to health will occur. In the interim, however, we strongly advise against any hasty action by members of the Shiloban government until it is made clear exactly who will assume the offices formerly held by President Algahar, in order to prevent confusion and potential factionalization of the Shiloban government.
Grand Prince Ewing offers his moral approbation for actions against terrorist groups operating within Shiloba, and will consider sending monetary support should the request be made. As always, he urges that caution and cunning be used liberally in this struggle, and that the welfare of the people of Shiloba is not overlooked.

The fishing bost pulled into the quayside, and after the dock personnel had been stunned by a large amount of money, the crew aboard the boat left the harbour for the city. The hunt had started.

On the boat was left a single man, who in front of a large mainframe computer sat, scanning the internet via satellite connection for anything useful, as well as using the input given to them via encrypted channels from their organisers.

Soon, he had a map up of Shiloba, with recent satellite footage of the nation. 4 red points appeared across the map. 3 were clustered around the capital. The best place to start.

-------------------

A car was driving down the road near the harbour. A few seconds later, and the car was stopped and empty, the driver having been incapacitated by a Taser weapon.

Finally, once the person had been moved still spasming from the vehicle, the operatives got in, and began driving to the capital.

Nord Cilla, Commonwealth of Free United States 11:34 PM
As the largest port on the northern seaboard, Nord Cilla was a bustling center of trade and cultural exchange. Ships and peoples representing countries from around the world mingled within the metropolis, making it second in size only to the city of Osius.

One warehouse by the docks seemed deserted, however, and hidden in a shorud of shadow. Several men stood around the perimeter, scanning the surrounding waterfront. They didn't notice the black rubber raft floating slowly towards the dock, nor the seven men inside decked in wetsuits and tactical gear. The men piled out, each cradling an M-8 submachine gun, their paths illuminated by night optic devices they wore.

The guards fell in a series of controlled shots, muffled by the suppressors at the end of the automatic weapons. Moving quickly, the team rushed the building, knocking out lights and tossing in flashbang grenades before storming in. Those who didn't surrender immediately fell in a flurry of automatic fire. Within a half-hour, the warehouse had been secured.

Black sedans drove up as the area was secured, the area now illuminated by the spotlights of several surveillance helicopters. Those who stepped out wore similar black suits, their eyes hidden by dark glasses. Each was an agent for the Commonwealth's Federal Security Service, the FSB (Federal'naya Sluzhba Bezopasnosti).

"How'd it go," one of the agents asked the leader of the kommandos.

"We captured some Tier-1 personalities," the commander reported. "And there's something else."

"What?"

"These weren't just Red Mafia," he explained.

"They're Gundaham Fahar."

"Thank you, Comrade-Lieutenant," the agent said. He turned away as he took out his cell phone. "Yes, this is Agent Marchenko. It seems we have a new national threat from a foreign criminal organization. Yes...I understand, they are the Gundaham Fahar. Yes sir. We'll begin right away."

President Pierce was in his house - it was quarter past nine in the morning and he'd just finished breakfast.

He got a call.

"Pierce"

"Hi, sir, your favourite Secretary for Defence here. Listen, have you seen the news article on what's going on in - ah...what's it called...yeah, Shiloba?"

"Big?"

"Yup"

"On public news?"

"Yep, ABN 1, news is on now"

"Ring you back"

Pierce switched on the TV, it would provide him with the most info qiuckest.
He saw what had happened and watched the ABN reporter describing. He put the call through.

"John, on my way to Kensington hall, want a briefing in the situation room in 20 minutes"

Kensington Hall was the Antigran presidential, congressional, and defence control centre. Pierce ran outside, grabbing the keys to his McCraw on the way, unlocked his ca and got in. It started on the button and the 4.7 litre V8 roared. He shifted the automatic gearbox into Drive position and soon the car was going down the M5 - the highway that ran down central Auston - at 80mph.

Soon he was at Kensington hall and being briefed. The situation was explained, and after a 5-hour meeting, everyone had come to a decision.

Pierce spoke.

"So, were just sending aid for now, by ship. I want a telegram sent to Shiloba, tell them we want to send aid and that a naval escort will be with them, security purposes. That's that then"

The capital of Shiloba. A sea of lights. A car swam through the lights, the operatives in the back readied for battle. The Fego'dai heard a chime on her earpiece, and spoke.

"What is it?"

"There are reports of the target being shot at by foreign commandos. The location is here."

A light pinged up on the display of her PDF. Off the map.

"Damn. In their country, not here?"

"Yep, I'm afraid so."

Ghadam--Captial City

It was almost 9:00 pm now, citizens were still in the streets, doing what they were doing. Many were still on tours from foreign countries, looking at the monuments, and government buildings. Then, everybody turned, and looked at the sky.

It was a Mark II Hyghat Cruise Missle. Everyone in the crowd started screaming, and running, some shoving others. Then, boom. hundreds, and hundreds of people were eaten by a large flame, still expanding. Buildings started to collapse.

It was a terrorism attack alright. People were now wounded, some without limbs, no one knew what was happening. A whistle could be heard in the sky, then a large light could be seen. There were more. The crowd was almost dead, people were screaming all across the city. 6 missles landed in rapid succesion, one hit the Microton Headquarters, another barely missed the Shiloban Parliament, 3 hit houses, and one missle hit the embassy.

By now the press, police, firefighters, and medical crews were arriving. A reporter was standing live on seen. "This just in, we have some breaking news. It looks rather anarchic behind me right now, this is due to seven Mark III Hyghat Cruise Missles. Buildings like Microton Headquarters, the Shiloban Embassy and others have been hit. Many believe this is the doing of the Gundaham Fahar, a terrorist group in Shiloba."

"Our nation is in a state of civil war. Our next actions decide the fate of five hundred million people," said President Atar Algahar, who was now very aware of what had happend. "I want this group dead, use any mean necessary, but civillian casualties must be low."

"Yes sir, the Commander in Chief is on the phone sir," said one of the President's Advisors.

"I'll take it in my office," said Atar. "Alright you know what's happening."

"Yeah, this is bad, it can't happen again, I suspect they'll go for our ports next. I've requested aid from other nations," said Ghooyad, Commander in Chief, of the United Republic of Shiloba.

"Yeah alright. We have soldiers across the country now, seeking out camps and killing whoever possible. I don't know where to start. Get everyone down here to the brifeing room ok," said Atar.

"I'm on my way."

"Ssh, shut up you twit, there's men in the field, get down," said Mercer, leader of the 44th Infantry Platoon. "Does anyone have a clear shot," he asked.

"Yeah sir, I've got the silencer on." Mercer looked over.

"Fire then." Everyone watched as the twang of the silencer could be heard, and several bodies in the clearing fell. "I think you got 'em," said Mercer in a firm tone.

"Yep sir, 4 kills confirmed." The rest of the squad was lying in the grass, they were all side by side on a hill. They had the high ground, that was good.

"Alright fellas, other side, stay low, we're making a dash across the clearing," whispered Mercer. Without hesitation all 8 men got up, and spirnted across the clearing to another hole in the field. "Eveyrone quiet, there's 12 more about 100 metres away. Everyone lock and load, ya got permission to fire."

The squad all fired, the quiet noise of their silenced guns could be heard, 12 men fell, 10 were dead, 2 were still moving. 45.000 soldiers were across the nation, picking off the Gundaham. At this rate the situation would be under control no time.

All of these troops are coming from here in Magnesium from the Defense Garrison. About 6,000 Army troops are being sent to assess the situation, along with air support from the Magnesium Garrison, but more are surely going to be deployed as fighting gets worse.

Within 5 minutes a convoy was on it's way to the warehouse to pick up the men.

"I am sorry, but you cannot have the men," an agent said.

"Excuse me?" asked the leader of the convoy.

The group had been allowed access into the Commonwealth after it was understood who they were and who the Gundahams were.

"These men are to be tried for crimes against the People of the Commonwealth," the agent explained. "Since these crimes occurred in our country, you have no jurisdiction."

Main Intelligence Directorate, Supreme Soviet, Meridian City, CFUS

The four men comprising the Directorate had been debating for hours. The new developments had made it clear that these were no ordinary criminals they were dealing with. That they proposed a threat to the Soviet people was undoubtable, but what action to take? After all, they had not committed any terrorist activities within the Commonwealth.

"It seems that we should leave these men to the Justice Department," one of the members concluded.

"But what of the Shiloban request?" asked another. "Surely there are mitigating factors."

"I would be willing to extradite the men under our Criminal Re-Patriation Act," voiced another, "But the Shilobans must try them as we would, in a fair and impartial hearing, and the death penalty must be removed from possible punishments. These men have done nothing to warrant such punishment."

"And what if the Shilobans find evidence of the contrary?"

"Then of course I find no problem with meting out justice."

Ghadam, Shiloba

Witnessing the carnage firsthand, the agent known simply as Chevalier walked down the streets, hidden by the shadow of the buildings. As a member of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) he was a veteran at keeping tabs within foreign countries. He made a mental note; there was something heh ad to report to his superiors in Meridian.

The deuce and a half truck rumbled along the barren road, its lights illuminating the sparse vegetation. Coming around a bend that wound around an obtrusive rock, the headlights revealed a dusty Mercedes parked on the side of the road. The truck's brakes squeeled in protest, the lumbering vehicle coming to a stop in front of the car. Two men approached the truck, and the driver and passanger of the truck climbed out to meet them.

"Do you have it?" the Mercedes man asked.

"If you have the cash," the driver answered.

The other Mercedes man lifted a briefcase into view. Using his hand as a support, he opened the case.

"Bond certificates, courtesy of the Federal Revenue," the first Mercedes man explained.

"Yuri," the driver ordered his partner, "Show them what we have."

As the truck's canvas top was pulled down to reveal an array og high-tech weapons, the satellite view was fed directly to the sniper/scout observer perched on a lone crag four football fields away. With a silent command, he was given the go-ahead by his team leader. His four shots sounded like puffs of air, but hit with deadly accuracy as he took down the arms dealers. One he'd deliberately missed the kill shot, hoping they could bring him in for interrogation. Already the sound of a Blackhawk was virberating over the barren landscape.

The Congress had been in session since it had been revealed that a major arms deal had almost been brokered between terrorists and a high-ranking officer of the Ground Defense Army. General Volkov had always been a rouge officer, and had already been arrested on charges of treason against the Commonwealth. For a military officer, that usually meant death.

"It is obvious that this is now a military matter," a Representative of the 324th District argued. "Why not authorize military force?"

"Admiral Padorin, what would you suggest?" Premier Galindo asked. As the President of the Congress, he was seated at the center of the Politburo cubicle.

"Comrades," the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs began, "We are witnessing the devolution of a simple judiciary problem into a military problem. The only true dilemma is how to fight these terrorists. It is a proven fact that conventional means are not an effective means of combatting them."

"Do you mean that we should use unconventional means?" asked another Representative. "Perhaps the Valhalla Group?"

"I can neither confirm nor deny," the Admiral began, "Of any part of our Defense Forces with that name."

He signalled to his Second Officer, who knew what to do and picked up a radio mouthpiece. Comms patched him through to the docks.

"Shiloba, Shiloba, this is the Antigran Fleet, request permission to dock, over. Repeat..."

"Permission granted, we're expecting you any moment now. We will have soldiers ready to help you unload."

"Cap'n! Approaching, 600 metres"

Yelled the first officer.

The captain half-walked, half-ran towards the telegraph and swung it first to the far left, then to the right, making a dinging noise at every stage and finally coming to a rest on the 'Ahead Slow' position.

100 metres - approximately - later, the captain went again over to the telegraph and moved it to 'Ahead Crawl'. The cruiser was still going at 11 knots, and while the stabilisers could be turned flat to act as 'brakes', the SFF Ottado would take time to halt.

It was followed by two large transports, some destroyers, and the rest of the mini-fleet.

The wind howled as it whipped across the private dock. 17 men were slumped down upon the farthest platform, all of the men were armed with light weight weaponry, a kevlar vest, night vision goggles and other night gear. As the men sat there talking to each other the three men that were ordered to be sentrys raised up their AK-108s as a submarineup next to the platform. Col.Lt. Jefferson Hides who was the new Hawk leader, and head of this operation ordered his men up and into the sub. Once they all got inside it the sub went back under the water and took off towards a Shiloban port in Ghadam.

Col.Lt. Hides pointed at a map and instructed the operators of the sub were to land and what to do in certain events.

"We will land there, and you will exit the sub and tell them we are from Antigr, and then me and my Hawk units may leave and get into Ghadam and try to find the terrorists as well as kill them. Also, I heard they were do night raids of places were the suspected terrorists are, maybe we can hook up with one of them and aid in a few raids."

To Shiloban Current Leader,

Seven-teen Grestonian Spec Ops will arrive at the Ghadam port to help with the problem, we cannot afford anyone else to know but you that these men are Hawks, so when they arrive they were told to say that they were from Antigr, inform your Dock Master that that is what these men are. Thank you for your time.

Ghadam Airport

The two men walked out the terminal in cool confidence, blending easily into the crowd of travelers. Both were agents of the Commonwealth's Committee for State Security (KGB). The Supreme Soviet had decided to keep the matter within the realm of the inteligence community for the time being, and had dispatched two of its best operatives to coordinate efforts with the Ghadam government and to ask for permission to operate within its borders.

"Das struyt'ye ta'briche," a voice said behind them.

"Das struyt'ye," said one of the operatives as they turned around. "Chevalier, I presume?"

"Call me Lohengrin," he answered.

"Ah," replied the other agent, "The Germanic knight."

A battalion of soldiers walked down the terminals of the Ghadam Airport. "There they are sir, the Germanic knight, and the other man."

"Let's go check 'em out." The battalion walked towards the two men.

"Ah, here come your escorts," Lohengrin whispered. "I'll be seeing you."

The agents turned around, but the undercover operative had blended into the crowd again. A group of soldiers went in search, but the KGB agents knew it would be fruitless. He was the best.

"Hello," the first agent said to the battalion commander. "We are here as liasons to the Ghadam government and the People's Commonwealth of Free United States," he introduced himself, presenting his badge and identification.

"We're here to help," offered his partner.

"Yes, we've been expecting you. Come with me, there is a jet waiting." The commander led them to a jet. In half hour it took off, it was heading for the House of Parliament.

Sorry for long delay, people...

"First Officer, Stay on the bridge with the OMB operator. Rest of you, come with me"

Said the Captain, walking swiftly out and down a ladder to the deck.

An Ensign was already commanding a detachment of 10 men, getting the 'docking gear' ready. He grabbed a rope and yeled to a few people on the shore.

"Give us a hand with these lines!"

Taking the lead of their escorts, the two agents were brought before a leadership council of some sort, perhaps something akin to the Commonwealth's Politburo. Again the men introduced themselves and explained their mission. Pulling out a ream of papers from his briefcase, the second agent presented the information compiled by the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU). This included the names and aliases of the men captured and detained within the Commonwealth, as well as information collected during the arms deal.

"In the event of full cooperation," the first agent said, "We will lead the Commonwealth task force within your borders and liase with our government on your behalf. We would also like your own intelligence services within our country to follow up on domsetic affairs."

Well, TG me if anything happens - as for now, this is nearing dead and I can't keep an eye on a dead thread every day when I have other stuff to do.
