INTRODUCTION
FACTBOOK APPEARS IN NEXT POST
The Monavian Empire releases a factbook for people and governments alike in other countries to use for the expansion of their knowledge. This factbook is a reference guide for other players to use when requiring information about the Monavian Empire.
ABOUT DEMOGRAPHICS:
Demographic statistics are fixed to work in a realistic fashion. Every year, I update the statistics to match the real growth and shrinkage patterns indicated in the factbook. I calculate the new population by taking the existing population, and then multiplying by the percentage rate of growth, then add or subtract it from the origional number to find the new numbers.
RELIGION:
The Monavian Empire has a climate of religious freedom, with few exceptions. It is obvious that there are many different faiths represented in the factbook. There are 25named religions here.
LANGUAGE:
Number of Fuent Speakers:
Of note to many readers, the numbers exceed the population total. This is because the number of fluent speakers of one language may also speak others, and are therefore counted more than once.
Main Language Spoken:
These numbers represent the number of speakers per language that use it as their main tongue.
OFFICIAL LANGUAGES:
The Monavian Empire was originally made up of the remnants of another empire, the main language of which was Latin. The Latin-speaking peoples later formed the new empire, which became Monavia, and later absorbed many immigrants into its population. This accounts for the variety of languages spoken. Immigrants have been coming to Monavia since its beginning.
During the Middle Ages, English-speaking people flooded the Empire and began to be assimilated into its collective population. In the process, many citizens adopted English in order to communicate effectively with the new immigrants. The immigrants in turn learned Latin. The Latin-speaking people began to decline in number, and soon the proportion of English speakers to Latin speakers was reversed, with English becoming the new dominant language. Since then, both have been made official languages of the Empire.
ABOUT GEOGRAPHY:
While geography is mainly arbitrary, as most players are given the liberty of setting up and creating their own geography, mine is made in the same way. Statistics are based on territorial gains and losses made during the course of Monavian history.
