Chapter One

Daughters of the Reich

A warm breeze blew through the Heath Trees and the many flower gardens that surrounded the Reich Palace. Cockatoos made their musical sounds that seemed almost heavenly in this beautiful land. The perfect green grass around the grounds seemed to be flawless. The sun gleamed brightly in the Australian summer sky. Mid summers draft blew through the hair of a young Australian girl. Her brown hair flew though the air like a flag. The brown eyes of the adolescent female stared up into the heaven as if pondering the very meaning of her existence. A tear dripped down the cheek of Amilia Vera as she lay stretched out across a hammock in the Reich Palace gardens. This was Amilia's favorite place to get away from her life. A life that seemed all but naught to her. For the past 2 years have been the most formidable in this young girl’s life. A whimper escaped her mouth as she rolled over to her side. Red and swollen from the incessant crying, she lay as if all the sorrow in the world were holding her down. Soaked from the tears, her hair hung down from the hammock dripping wet. It seemed only yesterday that her father was standing next to her as Amilia road her horse through the gardens. However this reality was no more. The cruelty of life caught up to Amilia and her family 2 years ago. On April 23rd, 2005 Reich Prinz Adolph Vera died of a stroke at age 44. This event caused great sorrow for the people of the Greater Australian Reich. Most of all it destroyed Amilia. Only 12 at the time she was heartbroken when she learned her daddy would no longer be there to watch her ride her horse, no longer be their to comfort Amilia when she was sad. He was no more. The seemingly endless stream of tears continued as Amilia lay wishing it would all end. Her father seemed to be but a distant memory. Finally the tears subsided. She let out a small whimper, and drifted into a sleep.

Dawn broke the next day. The calls of the Kingfisher could be heard throughout the grounds. Inside the palace in the south wing, Princess lay on her bed deep in a slumber. Her body was exhausted from the constant crying and endless sorrow. She seemed to be oblivious to the world around her. So deep in sleep the cries of every man, woman, and child in the world could not wake her. With the sun increasingly creeping into the sky, sunlight shown through the windows in her room. The warmth of the sun could be felt on her skin. She twitched her nose a bit, and yawned. To her surprise she opened her eyes to find herself in her bedroom. The last thing Amilia remembered, she was in the gardens. Must have been one of the servants that carried her into her room, she thought. The smooth soft bed felt good on her sore aching body. She struggled to lift herself from the bed. Her bare cold feet touched the floor. Amilia lifted her arms into the air and stretched them out. Walking over to a set of doors she opened them. Pulling out an outfit she changed into more suitable set of cloths. Amilia grabbed a small comb and combed her hair. After a few other preparations she left her room to begin another long day.

The sun shined brightly through a hallway window in the Reich palace. Amilia walked over to view some of the beauties of nature. As she stepped up to window, her eyes fixed themselves on an object in the driveway below. To her annoyance it was a small black BMW Z4 Coupé, this could only mean one thing, Black was here. The antipathy could be seen in Amilia's eyes as she turned to walk down the hall. "Does that jerk ever go home?" she mumbled. For the past few months a Man named Jason Black had been visiting Amilia, and her mother. From the start Amilia disliked the man, the way he carried himself, the way he was always so 'charming', and his 'Snotty' attitude. As far as she was concerned, these were characters unsuitable for a mature man. However Amilia's mother did not see Black in the same way. Liselotte Vera, seemed enchanted by the mysterious, and disturbingly charming man. Calling him almost every day, going out to dinner with the man, Liselotte was in a trance. This disgusted Amilia, how could her mother do this? Going out with another man when her husband, Amilia's father, died only two years ago. She was distraught over her mother’s blatant disregard for the memories of her father. Turning from the window, Amilia began trotting quietly down the hall. She soon neared a stair well that lead to the first floor. If only she could make it past without being heard, then she wouldn't have to see.... thump, thump, thump. Amilia was too late. Foot steps could be heard walking up the stairs. There was one person Amilia disliked even more than Mr. Black. One person who Amilia fondly called the 'Witch'. Samantha Black gracefully walked up the stairs to find Amilia. The older girl looked down the hall from the 3rd step down to see if she could spot her. At the same time, Amilia stealthfully tried to run away and hide in a nearby bathroom. "Amilia! Good mourning!" Samantha said excitingly. "No...." the fleeing girl sighed. Slowly and regretting she turned around to face her bane. "Hi Samantha..." She said in an annoyed tone. The two girls embraced like old friends, Amilia tried to put on the friendliest face she could in this situation. "So you and your dad have come over for the day.... Again...." She said in disbelief, (even though this didn’t surprise her at all). "Well yes, my father and I decided to come visit you all, You know my dad." She giggled. Nodding, Amilia sorrowfully thought of another day with the Blacks.

With marble counters, oak cabinets, and solid stainless silver fixtures. The kitchen of the Reich Palace was the most luxurious in the world. Fit for the most holy of royalty. On a set of stools around a breakfast counter, Liselotte Vera, Reich Prinzessin sat sipping a cup of sweetened coffee. Graced from birth, she has lived in this man made paradise since a very young age. Daughter of the Fuhrer she enjoyed a privileged upbringing among many of high society. She lived around political figures, and royalty. At the age of 13 she married to a young Australian boy, the two lived together in the palace. They seemed never to be separated from each other. At the age of 22 Liselotte gave birth to their daughter, Amilia. The couple began their happy family, and for the next 12 years they raised their daughter to be a young lady, and a Reich Prinzessin. However suddenly Adolph Vera died at age 44. He was found lying in the middle of the Palace grounds; quickly airlifted to Perth Medical center, he was pronounced dead. For Liselotte, this was a tragedy; she was now left to raise her daughter, alone. How could she do this alone? How could she raise Amilia without Adolph? These questions have haunted her for the past two years. No hope seemed to be in sight for Liselotte and her daughter. Day after day she can hear her daughter’s cries from down the hall. Endless and ever sorrowful the tears poured down. All she wanted to do was find the light in their lives. No such light could be found, until now.

The mid mourning light shined through the sliding glass windows adjacent to the Kitchens. The figure of Liselotte and another could be heard merrily conversing and laughing. This seemed to be what Liselotte was waiting for. Jason Black was a middle aged FS Political officer. Throughout his life, he has lived in the shadow of the Das Schwert Von Fuhrer. Enlisting at the age of 17, Jason lived his adult life in the service of the Fuhrer. At the age of 25 he found favor with a prominent political figure in the Reich. After a few years of service to Devin Anderson, the Minister of State. He was introduced to the Fuhrer, the two seemed to have much in common. Their Aryan upbringings and military backgrounds seemed to be a moot point in their lives. Black was given a Political Commission; he traveled the world ensuring the Fuhrer's wishes were carried out, because of this Blacks relationship with the Minister of State crumbled due to his investigation into some of Minister Anderson's abuses of office. 7 years ago, Jason’s life took a horrible, yet familiar turn. His wife, Jezebel died, leaving Jason to raise their daughter Samantha. This seemed to almost shadow the death of Adolph Vera, Jason and Liselotte soon met a mere year ago at a political banquet. The two seemed to compliment each other perfectly. Their relationship continues to this day.

Today the two sat down drinking cups of coffee while talking of recent happenings in the Reich. Black picked up his cup of steaming coffee and took a small sip. The hot liquid slipped down his throat. "So, how has Amilia been the past week?" He enquired as he sat the cup back down. Liselotte sighed as she laid her hands on the cold marble. "She hasn’t been doing well; it seems not to get any better for her. Just yesterday, I found her passed out on the hammock; her hair was soaked with tears. She just can’t stop thinking of her father." She explained as she looked down at her coffee with shame. "It’s alright Liselotte, she just needs time. I brought Samantha here to hopefully cheer her up today." He said with encouragement. "Samantha came up with the idea to take her out, get her out of the palace and out into the world." Jason said Smiling. "That’s wonderful, I hope they have a good time, Amila seems to get along very well with Samantha." Liselotte returned the smile.

With that said the two girls entered the kitchen. Amilia slowly and seemingly regrettingly walked into the kitchen. Following closely behind, Samantha encouraged her to walk faster. "Good mourning mom.... good mourning Jason...." She said with apathy. "Good mourning sleepy head." Her mother replied as he stroked her hair and kissed her forehead. "Good to see ya Amilia." Jason welcomed. The young females sat down next to their respective parents. Jason looked over at Amilia; he smiled trying to be as friendly as possible to the girl. Amilia, in her own mindset however was disgusted by this. She continued to dislike him, his smile creeped Amilia out. "So how are you doing this mourning?" He asked politely. Amilia thought about this for a second. ‘Well besides the fact you’re here’, she thought. "I'm just fine." She said with her best fake smile. "Well that’s outstanding.” Jason said pleasingly. He looked out the window at the beautiful Australian weather. “You two girls shouldn’t be sitting around this place on a gorgeous day like this, why don’t you both go out and get some sunlight." He suggested as he winked at his daughter. "That’s a great idea!" Samantha said excitingly. Steadying her hands on the side of her chair Amila stopped herself from falling of in shock. This is not the way she wanted to spend her Saturday. Out at the mall with the witch, who’s flipping idea was that? "Oh, that’s great... Just great..." She said sarcastically. "Then it’s settled!" Amilias mother ended. She waved her hand to a servant that was standing in the next room. "Yes madam?" He bowed. "Have the Chauffeur bring the car around, Samantha and Amilia are going out for the day." The servant nodded his head and unclipped a radio from his belt. "This is Home keeper 1, to Car 5, bring the car around, the young Ladies are going out for the day, over." the radio beeped as he removed his finger from the receiver button. "Confirmed, coming around." it replied. "Alrighty! Let’s go!" Samantha said in a gitty tone. She grasped Amilia's hand and drug her out of the Palace to the awaiting car.

4 Black BMW M3 Sedans pulled out of the Reich palace driveway onto Perth main St. Almost instantly a number of white police motor cycles flanker the motorcade. As Blue and red lights flickered, they headed down the road towards downtown Perth. Perth main street, however at this time of day was cluttered full of traffic, almost bumper to bumper at some intersections. This was a sign of The Reich’s growing prosperity, the bustling city was in an economic boom, and high rises dotted the downtown. With the growing private sector, Business rented out more space to house their many offices; this made way for a population boom. More people have moved from the countryside into the suburbs and downtown areas. The 6 lane Main Street packed full of vehicles parted as the motorcade cut through the traffic. The sidewalks were full of pedestrians cheering as the convoy passed, this demonstrated the ever-growing influence of the Reich family as a perfect model to the Australian people. Many people idolize them and follow them with great fanfare, teenage girls screamed as the cars passed, they treated Amilia as if she was a movie star, with this insane attraction, girls waved their hands and screamed out to the passing cars. Police barricaded the sidewalks as crazed girls tried to rush the motorcade while they passed. Inside the vehicles, Amila and Samantha relaxed as they watch the street side scene unfold. “Wow, you sure have a big fan club Amilia.” Samantha said as she watched a few girls try to jump over the barriers into the road. “Yea, I guess.” She replied quietly, while sulking back into her chair. Samantha looked over in her direction. Her inquisitive face fixed on Amilia's eyes that seemed to stare off into space. “Are you ok?” She asked in a concerned tone. Amilia looked over at the older girl, with a voice full of annoyance, she replied to her abhorrent counterpart. “I’m fine.” Contrary to this however, she was far from fine, in reality she was counting down the minutes until she could be rid of this witch. “You sure don’t seem fine.” The anxious Samantha stated. “Well what do you know?” Amilia replied under her breath. Oblivious to this statement and seeing that she was not going to get a defiant answer anytime soon, Samantha let the subject drop.

The Reich national mall was a 4.6 million square feet, 3 story super structure built to house over 400 stores and restaurants. The outside was painted a dark red hue to match the Greater Australian Reich flag. 2 huge GaR banners flank the main entrance to the mall on the east side. This mall sees over 40,000 shoppers daily from the surrounding area. Today the mall would see 2 special shoppers. Amilia Vera, and Samantha Back, Two of the most influential young women in the Reich, and more possibly the world. As their 4 car motorcade stopped at the main entrance of the mall, thousands of people awaited them. They cheered all at once to the point the ground was shacking. The two girls walked up the sidewalk towards the automatic doors in the front. Guards posted themselves around the entrances to the mall, The 2 guards at the main entrance smartly saluted as the two girls approached. The doors opened for the young ladies to reveal a wonderland of stores and businesses.

The two women trolled around the mall from store to store. Trying on cloths purses and so much more, Amilia going reluctantly of course. In one such store, arrestingly named Reich Prinzessin, the girls were trying on a series of outfits. Samantha stood in her stall appraising a green tube top she had picked out. She spun around in front of the mirror as she looked at herself from every angle. Outside of the stall Amilia sat on a display table glum fully waiting for it all to end. She rolled her eyes from side to side looking at the ever-present FS guards surrounding her. She let out a small sigh as she rested her head on her hand waiting for the "Witch" to exit the stall and
move on. For what seemed like hours Amilia waited as Samantha tried on top after top, skirt after skirt, and hat after hat. Amilia felt as if her brain would fry from the boredom. "Common.... It can't take her that long. You would think she would get sick of looking at herself for this long." She groaned. Amelia surely was sick of looking at her, She growled as she watched Samantha’s arms stretch over the stall door trying on yet another outfit. "Amilia honey! You have to try on this outfit!" Samantha said with enthusiasm, she rushed out of the stall to show Amilia a purple skirt and matching top. Amilia looked up at her with a piercing glaze as if she was trying to kill Samantha with a mere look. "Why should I?" She said abruptly. Addled, Samantha seemed to look disappointed. "Are you ok?" she whispered in an unsecure tone. "No I am not! I'm sick of this, we've been here for over 3 hours." Amilia yelled as she jumped to her feet. Her face only inches away from Samantha’s. "But... I thought..." Ring ring, ring ring. Samantha was cut off by the ringing of her own cell phone. She fumbled though her handbag as Amilia looked on in frustration. Finally after a few moments of searching, Samantha reveled her cell phone. She flipped it open, "Hello?..... Yes daddy..... Well its going, fine I guess." She said in a some what unsure tone. Amilia was ticked off even more by this statement, going fine? Where have you been you frizzy haired freak, she thought to herself. However before she could protest she was cut off by Samantha’s conversation with Mr. Black. "Your going were daddy?..... An invasion?..... How long will you be gone?..... 5 weeks!..... Were will I stay?..... At the palace?" The conversion went on, at the same time Amilia was listening in complete horror. She’s staying with us? For 5 weeks! I think I'll just crawl into a hole and die, She strategically contemplated. Trying to hold back tears of anger Amilia continued to give that deathly stare to her hated counterpart. "Yes Daddy, we were just leaving." Samantha said as she hung up her phone. "You’re darn right we were just leaving." Amilia said commandingly. "Amilia, what’s your problem? I thought we were having fun?" Samantha asked in a sinceer tone. In Samantha’s mind everything was great between the two of them, Amilia was quite and all, but she would never have expect her to be this mad at her. "Having fun? This is not what I call having fun. This is hell, and you’re the devil." Amilia left it at that, and walked off, FS guards quickly following. Dropping her head Samantha slowly headed in the same direction to the awaiting cars.

The sky over Perth seemed to change in an instant. Dark ominous clouds rolled over the plains and blanketed the city. Wind began to blow and a small rain began to fall. It eventually grew into a strong downpour. The windshield wipers of Amilia and Samantha’s car swept back and forth trying to clear the driver’s view of the road. The roads of the Perth main streets covered quickly with water so it was most important for the driver to be able to see the avenue to drive or you would run the risk of hydroplaning. For the Reich Prinzessin that would not be and option. To allow for a safer drive, the motorcade reduced its speed to 30 miles per hour, they had all the time in the world, no need to rush. However in the back seat, Amilia could find every reason to rush. The air in the car seemed to grow thicker with tension by the moment. The two girls had not talked since they had left the mall. This sign was not a good one, for this would be an opening act for what was to come in the next 5 weeks at the palace. Amilia tried to pass the time by counting the rain drops hitting her window. Samantha however sat in a dim trance staring at the floor. She felt so sad that hers and Amilia’s relationship had taken this turn of events. Was it her fault? Did she do something? Samantha was left in the dark to all this. Now that her father had left for the Invasion of North, she didn’t know what the next 5 weeks would be like, staying with Amilia. All she did know was it would be a very long and stressful time. She had no idea.

As the motorcade continued down the road towards the palace, the roads seemed to get wetter and wetter. The rain seemed to not stop. The constant downpour seemed to blind the drivers to zero visibility. This was not a chain of events the FS guards were looking for. They needed to get back to the palace, and fast. As the cars splashed up water from the sides of the road. The car that Amilia and Samantha were located in suddenly stalled and came to an abrupt halt. Sending the to girls bodies forward, luckily their seat belts were secure and they were unharmed. The dazed girls looked around the car. Stunned as to this turn of events. The driver inturn radioed out to the rest of the motorcade, their predicament. "This is Royal Carriage; we seem to have staled, requesting immediate transfer of the girls to another car, over." He said into his radio. "Rogor that." The reply came. 4 FS guards came running down the road to the staled car. Their DH-123 Assault Rifles in hand, they aided the girls out of the vehicle. The mud on the ground was thick and the girls had a hard time navigating to the awaiting car, that was only feet away. As they struggled towards the car, they heard a small squeaking noise. Thinking nothing of it they continued on towards the car. However the squeaking noise continued, Amilia in her curiosity turned around, and to her horror saw the bodies of two of the FS guards lying in a bloody pool of mud. She let out a loud shriek that alarmed the rest of the guards. FS guards rushed to the scene to try and shield the two girls. One by one the squeaking continued and each guard fell at the girl’s feet. Finally they were the only ones left. Tears began to fall down their frightened cheeks as they stood shaking in the middle of a pool of mixed blood and mud. The world seemed to lose all sound, not the sound of the rain drops or the splashing of mud. Only silence. Soon enough darkness set in, and the world faded away for the two girls.
