Homeless But Hopeful(Intro/Open/Land)

Nurg Bigburner, the Shaman of the Wegun Tribe, looked up into the open blue sky. They had been on the water for a month now, and many had died. Nurg could still recall the Hurricane that wiped out their island homeland, drowned their burial grounds, and destroyed everything his people knew as holy. Some of the elders believed that perhaps the world was ending.

Nurg didn't think so.

What was left of the once great Wegun people were now scattered among the sea of wooden rafts, floating aimlessly among the deep blue sea. Every night Nurg prayed to the Great Spirit for a new land for his people, but his prayers had gone unanswered.

All his people needed were a few tropical islands. Was that too much? The Wegun were a simple tribe, oblivious to modern technology and distrustful of it, they simply wanted to live in peace. Nurg knew there was a chance the land they might find eventually might belong to somebody else...but the Wegun were willing to compromise.

And so, Nurg continued to think, waiting for land or somebody who could give it to him.

"Wrongway, are we lost...AGAIN?"

"Yes boss"

"It's Captain, you're supposed to call me Captain!" Came the exasperated reply.

"Yes Bo...Capatin" One could just hear the grin in the voice and the roll of the eyes.

The antique Gooney Bird, as the Douglas DC-3 airplane was known, droned on as reliably as it had for the past eighty years. The ocean below it gleamed a deep ultramarine blue, for once as flat as freshly ironed sheet. The waters off of the south east coast of the Fatal Terrain region (http://www.atddm.com/nmftr.jpg) were usually filled with long swells and not much else.

However this day was different.

"Hey Boss, we got some rafts out in the middles of this here no where"

"I told...What?!" The pilots voice wsa disbelieving until he muscled the gooney about and saw the large rafts himself 'Well, I'll be! Get us unlost Wrongway, and call it in, they don't look like they're in to good a shape."

"Sure thing...Captain" The naviguesser pulled out the thoroughly modern, state of the art commo system - they might love their ancient plane but none of the crew wanted to be at the mercy of an eighty year old 'wireless' and let the Navy know what they had found.

"Yeah they look pretty much the worse for wear and becalmed." Wrongway advised.

He wasn't sure what the Tanaaran Navy would be able to do, seeing how as most of their ships were on the western side of the region, but maybe they had some high speed low drag hydrofoils they could send out from the International Island or pass the information on to the GeeSee'rs or the Raveans. Both were a lot closer but the Ravean's were pretty insular. The nearest islands were completely uninhabited

Nurg Bigburner looked up in awe at the massive seabird in the sky. It was loud, and freightened many of the tribe. The warriors raised thier spears, hoping to scare off the beast. Nurg sat in deep meditation, speaking to his power animal, a large fruit bat, asking about the large bird.

His power animal told him not to be afraid, that this bird would lead them to a new lush land. Nurg was hesitant, but thanked his power animal and awoke from his trance.

He ordered the warriors to lay down thier weapons, and instead wave at the bird, hoping it would draw near.

"Hey, Boss"

*Sigh* "Yes Wrongway?"

"We've got all those pallats of E-rats and such back there let me off load them, the pallats will float and they look like they could use a good meal" The maviguesser lowered his binoculars. They were as old as the plane but like the Gooney Bird were still quite useable.

The plane banked again and swung lower as the burly man hauled the side door open and began off loading piles of emergency supplies. Their automatic chutes opened and the cargo floated on the ocean's calm surface, just waiting to be paddled over to and opened. Bottled water, food packs, and other such basic necessities - and a silently pinging rescue beacon in each one. The poor folk stranded out here would be easy to find.

The man waved to the people below as he hauled the door closed then headed back to his station. "Hey Captain, why don't we head low and slow towards those islands. They aren't that too far distant."

"'K, We've got enough gas to do that, but then we have to make for a refuel point."

Making themselves very visible they headed due west, where large, uninhabited islands lay green and serene on the ocean.

"Praise be to the Great Spirit!"

Cries of joy rang out everywhere as the Spirit Boxes floated down as gently as a feather. In moments they were all scooped up, and the food and water were taken heartily.

But Nurg alone had seen strange spirits inside the bird, and noticed the direction it flew in. Something was odd...this bird was a very strange one indeed. Still, Nurg ordered the rafts to set out the sails and follow the bird as quickly as possible.

In forty minutes land was visable, and a great cry of joy shattered the silence of the sea around them. The tribe paddled as well as sailed now, moving with all possible speed toward the lush islands ahead.

OOC: How many islands and how big?

The Gooney Bird circled once over the lush island then headed west before they were too close to empty to make it to home themselves. The oldtimers that flew the almost forgotten make of airplane would laugh over a beer in the club remembering that their fathers once told tales of cargo cults in the south seas, unaware that they themselves might be the foundation of a new one.

But the Tanaaran Navy'd get someone there soon enough to help the new islanders settle in. They tended to be the neighborly sort.

The rafts pulled onto the beach, and the tribe poured out like rats from a sinking vessel. The sand of the beach was kissed, mothers hugged their children with tears in their eyes, and even the bitter old men gave silent thanks to the Great Spirit.

"Hail the Sea Bird, Lord of the skies!" Roxn Bonebeast, the head warrior, shouted in his largest roar.

"The Sea Bird was doing the Great Spirit's work Roxn," hissed Nurg, "just as you hunt the game rather then the spear!" Roxn leered at the Shaman.

"The Great Spirit? Was it not the Great Spirit we prayed to to spare our islands? Was it not the Great Spirit we prayed to us to rescue from the sea?"

The tribe had now fallen silent, all eyes fixed upon Roxn and Nurg.

"To deny the Great Spirit honor is to bring catastrophe upon our people."

"The same could be said of The Sea Bird."

"Enough," one of the elders yelled as loud as his frail voice would allow. "Already you bring strife upon this new land. We have villages to construct, game to catch, and an entire island to explore. The both of you bring shame upon the Wegun people!"

Roxn and Nurg kept thier eyes to the ground, but the growing religious hatred between the two could be felt across the entire island. Without a word they left to perform their respective duties.

The Wegun never knew it but a late night satellite pass showed the Tanaarans that the raft people had made it to a land fall. Five days later in the dead of night a boxy shuttle alit on a remote beach on silent antigravs. The aft ramp descended and a team of special ops exited.

They already has some idea of the strangers technological level based upon the visual observations of the antique plane entheusiasts, the satellite photos and the special forces team was to add to the information with observations and data transmission from a net work of microphones and cameras they had been tasked to install - they had been instructed to make no contact, and as always "Don't get found"

Roxn had come to know the surronding jungle fairly well, and painted black with ash he was all but invisable in the lush green. He leaned down on a pig trail, smelling the fresh dung. It was a mother, good diet...healthy. Judging from the tracks surronding she had piglets. Roxn prepared to follow when he felt...a presence.

Staying low, he closed his eyes and sniffed the air. He smelt the plants, the moist and fertile earth, himself...but there was something amiss. Roxn noticed a strange lack of smell, as if something unnatural was near. He listened close, and swore he heard movement.

Spirits.

Roxn, after hunting down and killing the 5 of the 11 piglets, returned to the village. The warriors lived in a Hunting Lodge, while the rest of the tribe lived in individual huts, and as Roxn entered he called his warriors to draw near.

"My hunters," he began, pausing for effect, "there is something amiss among the green." The warriors looked confused, save for one. Gosemt Bonearm, the youngest hunter stepped forward.

"I agree. I am filled with shame to say that I left the lodge one night to...to..." Roxn was well aware of his affair with one of the unmarried girls, but that was a discussion for a diffrent time.

"What has that to do with anything?"

" I was in the jungle, bathing, when I heard a great commotion among the branches near me. I got up, picked up my spear, and peeked through the foilage. I saw...I..." Gosemt's face had turned a pale white. "I saw a great beast descend from the sky, open it's mouth and roll out a mighty tongue. Then I saw demons pour forth from its mouth and scatter among the jungle. I ran, but returned in the morning. I found no trace of the strange beast from the sky or the demons. Ithought myself cursed and surely soon to die for witnessing such a thing."

The other warriors looked to Roxn to gauge his reaction. "Gosemt, you have done the right thing teling me this." He patted the young boy on his back. "This beast does not bring demons for you, but against the tribe, for not giving thanks to the Great Sea Bird! How foolish we are, thinking we might offend a god and get away with it. Now we must worry about demons as well as an angered god!"

A stout and muscular warrior, Xborem Giantbeast, spoke up. "What are we to do then?" Roxn did not speak for some time, pondering the question with all his faculties. Finally, he returned from his inner contemplation and spoke to the gathered.

"I have thought long and this problem, and asked the Great Sea Bird for advice. I believe that by the next full moon, we will recieve an omen on what to do. We have seven moons to wait.

"What are we to tell the Shaman," a slender and reptilian looking warrior named Xkamn Sickshade hissed. Roxn stared intently into his eyes.

"Perhaps these demons were sent here to reveal the true path to him. Who are we to interfere in the plans of the gods?"

None of the island's new inhabitants had found the teams hide, but they had moved it several times and had kept to strict protocol. They monitored the growing rift in the people and their reports noted the skill of the Wegun hunters.

The island chain would be a good home for the primitive Wegun people, and it was intended that it be 'hands off' letting them live as they desired

It had now been 3 weeks, and already three villages were up. Lives were returning to normal, and it seemed as if the troubles of the past had dissappeared.

But not all was as it seemed. In the village of Naglhaeinei, the very first, a feud was brewing. The shaman, Nurg Bigburner, was growing fearful that the warriors/hunters were losing the Old Ways of shamianism and ancestor worship. He noticed there were strange noises coming from the lodge late at night, and had heard that the hunters now left the head of whatever they killed for some kind of spirit.

The shaman too had noticed this island had....strange pecularities about it. Sometimes, on his walks, he noticed strange feet prints in the sand, feet that belonged to no tribesmen. Still, there had been no troubles, so it was best to just continue living.

Roxn Bonebeast sat on this throne inside the lodge, pondering deeply. The demons had not yet come, but more and more people in the village reported hearing or seeing strange things. His warriors had left the ways of the shaman, and joined his small cult, but it was still not enough. He believed the Great Sea Bird was withholding gifts from the tribe because he was recieving too little worship.

What to do....what to do?

Xkamn Sickshade noticed the cheiftan's weary brow. "What plagues your mind, Cheif?"

"Many things Xkamn. I am at odds about what we can do to win the tribe over to our beliefs. If only they could see the demons as we have." Sickshade looked away and grinned. Roxn knew he always did this when he had an idea. "Xkamn, you have thoughts?"

"Well my Cheiftan, I see too possible ways to acomplish your goal. One, we could go out and capture a demon. Or two..." Sickhade's eyes glinted with a hint of the diobolical. "We could always kill the Shaman."

"Never! We are sworn to protect-"

"Protect what, Cheif?" interjected Xkamn. "The old hokey religion? What good has it done for us? We've SEEN the demons Cheif. How many among us has seen the Great Spirit?"

The old islands were totally destroyed. Bodies rotted in the sun, ancient grave sites were flooded, and everything once held holy was now distraght. The only animals left were half starved dogs, who would attack any living creature that came near.

But towards the center of the island, in what is now a swamp, a tall obsideon stone rose out of the ground. It had symbols craved onto it, but what did they say? Only time would tell....

Roxn and his hunters were out in the jungle, stalking their prey. It was a hot day, and so far the hunt had collected nothing. In defeat, they resigned back to the lodge.

But from the corner of his eye he saw three strange things on the water, like massive turtles. "Men, prepare the village! We may soon come under attack! Tell everyone to stay in their huts!"

Word spread from one village to another, and all warriors were put on alert. No others, save for the Shamans, were allowed to leave the huts until the coast was clear.

Roxn waited behind the jungle foilage to see what migh be coming this way.

That thing needs calm seas to fly- a hurrican woulda done a lot worse I think! also please be aware that you are entering a region with active Fantasy tech, Majick tech, Modern tech, Post Modern tech, near Future tech and Future tech. Our region has a regional defense net- any thing other than some drifitng rafts are going to be picked up on the net and investigated, and some of our nations are rather...aggressive. We welcome visitors, but invaders get short shrift.

2 tailed Kitsune's - please be aware that some of your ships will soon be transiting into Fatal Terrain Regional waters. Please see notes above.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been just over four weeks since the gooney bird had guided the Weguns to the uninhabited islands off of the south east continent of the Fatal Terrain region. (http://www.atddm.com/nmftr.jpg)
The special ops types that had melted into the jungle had sent back a continuous stream of observation and information. And the team that would be visiting the Wegun would have more than a little fluency in the language.
The team would consist of nine people people. An anthropologist, a doctor, a emt/nurse, a linguist, a anthro-sociologist, a botanist-zoologist-ecologist and thee more special ops to act as security. Three of the team were also certified psionics with a variety of talents.
Riding in Big Red One (http://www.atddm.com/fire1.jpg) and escorted by a Thunderchilde (http://www.atddm.com/tchild.jpg) They'd been scrambled when the defense net had reported a strange vessel entering Fatal Terrain waters too close to the regions newest imhabitants. They hadn't planned on leaving the carrier they were aboard but they decided to keep anything resembling a massacre from happening. They were being followed by one a stealthe destroyer, but it was only capable of seventy knots - the Tchild and the BRO were bothe capable of nearly a hundred knots.
And topo side other assets were being tasked to act as back up.
The Big Red One and it's armed escort will be at the island in somewhat over thirty minutes.
"A primitive people? In our region? And just how in the hell did they get past the well known troublesome southeastern seas?"
"By raft, apparently."
The silence was remarkable. Soon however, the elven woman's voice ended it. "Well, I've got to hand it to them. They're hardy enough."
"There's more, my lady." the draconian spoke as he keyed a hologram of the southeastern quarter of the map. It lit up the newest information. "Foreigners. Tanaaran black ops are down there now keeping an eye on things, and remaining out of sight for cultural studies."
"All right. Here's what I want you to do. Travel to the islands. I'll have my people give you a sky portal that'll hop you there quickly enough. I'll have word sent to the Tanaarans of your arrival." The elven woman looked at him carefully, "But, under no circumstances are you to reveal your human form. You are to remain in full form, to keep with the spirits concept they've got in their minds. I want you to keep an eye on things for us. I'll fast-track acquiring a secure transmitter for you to use to contact me directly. If there are any problems, I want to be the first to know other than the Tanaarans already there. Understood?"
"Yes, my lady." replied the male as he bowed. "It shall be done." With that, he turned and departed the room. He made his way outdoors to a cobbled clearing and began to change in size and appearance. Before long, a growl escaped the maws of the dragon as its wings unfurled and closed again. A young man, hardly an adult came running with the promised transmitter, and with his help the dragon had it affixed to his right ear. Then, the dragon roared, flapped his wings and was airborne in seconds.
*********************
Somewhere over the seas northeast of the Wegun new home islands
There was a brief flash, and then the behemoth that was the dragon flew upon silent wingspan, coasting upon the warm updrafts. His eyesight was powerful, capable of seeing nearly a hundred miles at this height with few clouds in the sky. His scales were blue, as blue as the seas below, and his eyes yellow. The islands were before him, and beyond the peaks, he could see the distant ships still sitting somewhat offshore, as if uncertain. He dropped low to the seas, close enough that if he were to extend a foot, it would strike waves. Flying over the beaches, it wasn't long before he found an ideal perch high in the peaks of the small mountain range that composed the island's core. From here, his sight watched all activity below with a careful eye. Occassionally, his breath would form icicles upon his lips, only to be shaken off with the next breath.
Admiral Foxbridge had his communications officer send a mesage to the unknown frigates.
From TN Hawks Nest to unknown frigate. Please be advised that you are intruding on Fatal Terrain waters. We have a uncertain situation in action in those waters and advise that you refrain from contact with the new inhabitants of the island. We have been apprised that they are a primitive people. We have a contact team and escort vessel enroute at this time. Are you in need of any assistance?
The same message was sent to the most unlikely looking airplaneship but they had to report that there ws no response from the vessel.
Psiwatch also apprised him of the appearance of portals in the area of the island. "I think the Tarlachians have sent a dragon for recon" The ensign after contacting the wtchers in orbit and getting their assesment. "But we're just too far away to detect if there has been any mage or psi reaction from the Foxes sir. We'd have to get some one in closer."
The admiral nodded and issued a series of orders. In moments the entire task force turned northward and went to full force projections operations. A flight of Butterflies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northrop_Switchblade) as the Switchblade fighters were nicknamed was launched.
After holographic video conference with his counterpart in orbit Admiral Foxbridge took command of the entire operation as the Flag officer on the scene. Most of the orbital assets were tasked back to their normal duties.
OOC: Just to let you know, the "creature" is not imitating a dragon. It is a dragon. I've been RPing Dramen (dragon men) in my nation for years. Literally years. So, technically, no one should think much of the dragon's existence save for the fact that one doesn't see those all the time. But, you as foreigners to the region wouldn't know that.
Oh, and another thing. You wouldn't have seen the dragon coming from the NORTHEAST, especially when flying at just above sea level... You all are on the southeast, southern coast of those islands. And those islands are huge if you look at the map and the scale provided. But, I'll overlook this for now and deal with what's already been posted.
IC:
Keen eyesight kept a vigilant watch on the proceedings below. Every once in a while, through secure earth-arcane lines, he would send a report to the infamous elven woman who ruled the Empire of Tarlachia with a firm, but wise hand.
An intrusive mind link interrupted the dragon's thoughts, and the intruder was met with hostile force in the form of a powerful mind-wall. Whoever it was would also feel a bodily chill dropping their core temperature rapidly. Amidst the defensive wall's effect, a slithery voice, dripping with words so distrusting that it could have been poisonous, spoke. Identify yourself, intruder, before I kill you myself where you sit.
And indeed, he had located the intruder already. Tarlachian dragons, having harnessed telepathic speech and location skills as a result of their inability to speak aloud in dragon form, had made them a powerful foe, either in person, or in mind-power. They were an ancient race, as old as the elves, if not more so. They weren't the strongest with their telepathic abilities, but they certainly were not the weakest.
"Rob, dear. I've got to talk with you. Business related."
The man on the holoscreen nodded, "I'm listening."
Aeris waved a hand over the screen, projecting to her Tanaaran husband the information on the Tarlachian agent currently scoping the situation in the southeastern islands. "I've got one of my agents down in the uninhabited, yet becoming inhabited islands. I know you have some boys down there too, and while the primitive folk are hardly any concern, I do not like the idea of foreigners coming into the domain of this region and "helping" these people. It just doesn't sit well with me. Both of our nations are known for their humanitarian efforts, amongst others in this region, yet at the same time, we're not fools in the game of craftiness."
She grew silent as she watched him. He nodded, "Yes. So what do you suggest?"
She was waiting for this. "A not so friendly reminder to basically stay the fuck out of our region." Her eyes hardened slightly. "Lest we have another situation like the Dark War."
OOC: No problem, 2 tailed kitsunes. Also, here's the map for your reference: Fatal Terrain regional map (http://www.atddm.com/nmftr.jpg). Wegun, you can see is now located in the southeastern portion of the region. Oh, and the scale is at the top of the map, so you get an idea of the size of the region. As for the RP so far, please continue what you were doing (don't bother ignoring the post, I've already addressed it anyway). It should prove to be interesting to say the least. Don't worry, I'll be nice...mostly... ;)
Feel free to ask me for any help regarding RPing as well.
According to the scale the island we're all at/on/looking at is at least 500 miles long in length. Plenty of mountains can be hidden here...
Oh, and these islands are uninhabited, undeveloped. They've not be touched by sentient races (humans or otherwise). Therefore, since you've landed your A-10, don't expect to be able to get it up into the air again since you've effectively landed on the natural earth...of course, you could always edit that post and correct it to say, circling above the islands in a wide circle? Three days, or so it seemed, passed. they landed on a reef, and were beached. The gas had water, so they could not take off, and the three foot gash kept them from sailing. They were stuck in the middle of nowhere. Then they herd something they thought they never hear again. "Hey guys, Dosen't that not sound like water to you?" Sain the Radio man, as the crew looked outside to see A plane! The crew quicklly ran on to the broad wing with a box of flairs, and waited for the circleing jet to come back over. "What's a jet doing here?" Said the navigator, to the captians reply, "I don't care, we're getting out of here," as he shot a Flair up. The Red trail looked like it got far.
Admiral Foxbridge sent a reply, requesting more information from the Frigate,
Pleased to meet you Two Tailed Kitsune's. Thank you for your swift reply. Given that we are uncertain of the culture of the people on the island, we suggest that you make no further contact with the Wegun as our admittedly sparse information names them. Have you simply lost radio contact with your team or are you close enough to shore to have seen what happened? Any information will be valuable to our teams, they should be with in sight in just a few more minutes.
The two craft were going to have to be observed visually, as they produced an almost nonexistant radar return.
Roxn was in the middle of a victory howl when a runner from the village of Atuddacygot burst through the foilage, shouting of "the end times." Roxn caught the man and calemd his breathing.
"Breathe deep borther, you look as if you've seen a demon!"
"We have sir! More demons from the sea have come, bringing a huge god with them!"
"A...a god?"
"A massive lizard who flys through the sky was seen arriving on the island by a hunter, and he says it resides in the center of the island. We have also heard of more demons pouring from the sea!
By the gods, what hell is this?
"This island is no ordinary land, that much is for sure. The spirits are angry we reside here!" Roxn looked toward the bodies before him, demons lost in intense DMT hallucinations. "Perhaps they need a sacrifice of blood to be sedated!"
"What shall we do?"
"Tell your people and the village of Ithall to pack their goods and join us here. We may have angered them by violating some sacred space. We must consult....the shaman."
Roxn's warriors said not one word.
"Yes cheiftan, the villages shall be here in three days! I must spread your word." The runner took off again, like a ghostly specter returning to it's grave. Roxn turned to look at the bodies before him again. He snapped his fingers. "Tie them up, bound thier mouths. We have another 4 hours before they wake up, and they will remain dazed for the rest of the day. Prepare a large fire and an altar. We have much work to fo."
Thank you for the information of the fate of your shore party, we will pass this information along to our inbound team. Concerning the disatres call- they are tresspassing upon Fatal Terrain regional waters and will be - must be- assisted by a Fatal Terrain nation. Please transmit their GPS coordinates, as we may already be aware of their presence and preparing to dispatch a SAR operation. However in the name of international cooperation you may send a hovercraft to assist them and us in their recovery.
Admiral Foxbridge
P.S. You may think your ships are invisible to all forms of radar, but our sensor systems rely on radar ony as a secondary detection system. You are not invisible from space based imagery, lidar, mass detectors, or sonar. In approximately twenty seconds from reciept of this communication you will be pinged by the FAAIS astern
The fast attack sub that was approaching some twenty miles astern of the Two Tailed Kitsune frigate make a very open single pinggggg when ordered to. Just to let the foreign navy know that there were Tanaaran subs about. The sub was an entirely AI crewed part of the regional detection and defense grid, and was barely mong enough to hold its weapons and propulsion system. It had been tracking the 'invaders' since they had entered the regional waters. It had both conventional and nuclear tipped weapondry -torpedos and missiles.
An Exeter Osprey, a much improved and redesigned variant of the problem plagued U.S. Osprey was preparing to lift off with a full SAR team mounted. A Toad - a hovercraft designed for heavy seas salvage operations was also being deployed from the taskforce's megatender.
As for the Hovercraft it's inbound to the coordinates right now will send you constant information on it's exact wereabouts along with our pilot. The commonwealth asks that you please do not shoot him down he is our only means of protection since we are completely unarmed.
The Comodore detects the ping sends out a sonar & doppler ray spotting the sub. "Just as they said on my cue tranmsit the coordinates."
From his high perch, the dragon had been watching the events unfolding out at sea from his mountain-top. Occassionally, he'd shift his sight back to the island below him whenever he sensed some other movement. With the island as it was, all wind flowed upward in an effort to overcome the island's mountainous range. With it, he was able to pick out the differing scents of all the humans below. Hence, he was not worried that they might try to attack him.
Such a feat would be entirely foolish as well. Such a feat would likely end in death for the attacker.
There was a snap of air, and the dragon was off his perch, nearly diving straight down toward the earth. He easily moved with such a fast speed that it was only seconds before he was alighting upon the beach. His clawed feet splashed in the surf, spread out over the wet sands and his tail floated in the waves. Moving further up the shore until he was out of the water, he studied the forest, inhaling the air as he did so.
There was a terrible roar that shook the trees, followed by the equally terrifying silence; the result of every other creature on the island having hidden or fallen silent in fear. He growled quietly, waiting on one of the Wegun to approach.
Then, the engineer stated one fact that they all overlooked,"Hey Captain, what if they want to enter the KM?" As the captain then reallised the multituded of Estovakian Secrets in the ship. Even though the ship it's self was declassified, many of it's workings were underwaps. If Forergn nations get a hold of some of there workings, including the cargo, the would be screwed. " Hey, grab the AK's, I will not let them get farther that the wing, this ship is still estovakian, and we will make sure that they do not enter!" as he picked up the AK-74u.
Latched onto a silent underwater grav propulsion system, there was a single man holding on. His entire body was wrapped in metallic scales that sprung from his spinal cord at will. No flesh was revealed as a result. Checking the GPS on the system, he noted that the indicator had arrived just above him. It also was a screen that showed all other watercraft around him, giving no indication of his arrival by sonar in turn. He had heard the ping that had been from the Tanaaran ship, and had used that to also keep to his bearings.
What the Tanaaran's knew however; and only those of the highest ranks; was that the sole man had been sent by the Tarlachian brass to serve as a mole into potential hostile ships and ensure that they were either cooperative, or more harshly if required, neutralized. His true name was known to very few people, for his file had been deleted, his status changed to "deceased", and his identity all but gone. He was the perfect agent for missions such as this. He had a long history of service, having even served in cooperation with the Argonian Civil War so long ago, It was because of that war that he had gone underground for such a time, appearing briefly in Tarlachia on another mission and then disappearing again like the wraith he had made himself seem to be.
Now however, he swam free of the system as it hovered in place by the mere press of a single switch. He looked upward to the world above him, noting the Estovakian ship in its place. Upward he swam as quickly and silently as he was able until at last, he took hold of the barnacle-covered bottom. He could see the gash in the ship's side as it sat just beneath the surface of the water and he could see that it was taking on water by the second. He reached into the gash, took hold of the metal sides and pulled, watching as it gave way easily to his powerful, enhanced grip. In seconds, he was inside, moving now silently through the dark waters within. His visual scope changed to heat reception, dimming the interior of the ship with hues of cool colors. He saw no organic bodies giving off heat and so he proceeded with utter stealth and caution. In his left hand, a single blade had appeared, made of the same otherworldly metal that his armor had been forged from. It was a metal strong enough to withstand standard bullets of varying calibers and deflect them away harmlessly. In essence, he was a walking tank.
A shout above was heard, a command to arm the men with AKs. In the darkness, he waited silently as he listened to the movements of everyone around...
Yet if they just leave the supplies on the wing like your going to ask, this will all go smoothly, then we go home and deliver the plans and cargo." The ship was large enough that the sole agent moving silently through it's interior was able to avoid anyone seeing or hearing him. His hand lightly touched the handle to the captain's sleeping quarters, and found it locked. A pin was retrieved from between two scales, and in seconds the simple lock had been picked. He opened the door slightly, listening carefully. After a moment he opened it and closed it behind him, locking the door once more. Scanning the room, he saw a series of documents lying akew upon the bed mounted to the wall. Picking up a few he noted nothing terribly important, just some exchanged communications from headquarters regarding the primitive people on the island at this time. He turned and saw a locker, which he opened.
Inside, he found more vital information, information regarding the ships details and such. These, he folded up and inserted it through an opening that had appeared in his armor for just this purpose. As he did so, he reveled once more at the sophistication of his armor, controlled entirely by his own thoughts and willpower.
Exiting the room once more, he made his way down the corridor as silent as a wraith. Another room opened up to the engine room, yet he ignored it. If they didn't patch that hole in the hull soon, the entire ship would be underwater in a matter of hours. The very fact that it was in Fatal Terrain regional waters would mean that by international law, it became property of the region, culpable to salvage expeditions.
Making his way upward now and toward the bow of the ship, he paused at the level just beneath the main deck. Slipping behind the stairs as he waited in the shadows for the ship's crew to unwittingly inform him of their movements and plans, he thought of the already thought out plans of actions in numerous scenarios that flipped through his mind.
As for the communications stuff, just think that it's information that was exchanged just before the storm. The engines, I didn't touch, as you can see in my last post. I ignored them. Do understand that the Fatal Terrain defense network ensures a rather fast response, both visibly, and covertly. My agent is of the covert defense variety. He'll remain where he is, and leave either unseen or with a trail of blood in his wake...it all depends on how the situation develops. Think of him like a sort of virus... If you give it reason to do damage, it will. That doesn't mean it's going to happen though. ;)
He looked over at the Tanaaran ship, Come out of your ship. I sense your nature as well. You're also Draman. Perhaps they're afraid that I'll eat them. If you're by my side, they might grow a pair and meet us out here.
The mental voice chuckled again as teh owner popped her head then the rest of her out of the Thunderchild's hatch. Once this is over I'll treat you to a Cats Keep artesian spring swim how about, ice chunks floating in the water and all.
"We heard they used some kinda blow gun darts. I wouldn't want one to wiggle it's way under your scales." She hopped lithely off of the hover craft and slogged though the sand to his side. Bekka was young - in her middle twenties at best, but she was good at her job and might go carreer, but she wasn't certain yet.
Blow darts are incapable of even trying to get under my scales. the dragon replied as he laid his eyes upon the female. He lowered his large head to meet her eye to eye respectfully. She could see two backward angled horns that came from the top of his skull and arched back and up. They were long, and menacing in appearance. Additionally, they were pretty much the only solid measure of one's age. He indeed was old, nearly a thousand years now, and having spent most of it in isolation with his clan high up in the frozen mountain peaks of Tarlachia. The Dark War had changed that, however, and now he had been having cooperating arrangements with the nation's empress.
"You should be more worried about yourself. After all, you're in your prone form." he spoke aloud at last in draconic. His voice was gravely, rough. Somewhere in there, she could have sensed he had seen much more in this world than he had cared to. His eyes narrowed at her, "And you are young. Very young. I would think it would be best for you to remain hidden away until you are stronger, more durable. There are so few females left after all, especially after the Dark War." A cold wave of air passed from his maw and washed over her.
He turned his attention to the forest, his voice returning to thought-speech. And these idiots are aggravating me by the minute. I've half a mind to wipe them out and end this whole situation just like that. But, I have my orders.
Bekka's eyes went wide when she saw the measure of his horns clearly and she bowed deeply. "Forgive me sire. You are the first Draman besides my mother that I've ever been close to. Please forgive my earlier frivolity." Her spoken Draconic wasn't fluent, and human form had trouble with it anyways, but she tried very carefully to make it as precise and understandable as she could. SHe shivered in pleasure as the cold wawshed over her.
"And thank you sir, for your concern for me, but I am oathsworn to do my job." Her voice held the hidden but desperate pride of one speaking of all they had of worth. "I'm...I'm only a half breed." She admitted as she turned her eyes back to the surrounding island hoeping that their interaction would draw even one of the 'natives' out.
His eyes turned to Bekka, "Half-blood or not. You are dragon. Perhaps you may be more suited for survival in the long run. Who knows? True breeds are a dwindling number as it is. The longer this world survives...the more frequent that tainted breeding will occur. Survival of the fittest, I suppose."
He fell silent, remembering the years of long ago when things were much more simpler to understand, when civilizations didn't have ships that flew into the black, and weapons of unimaginable destruction that had only been preceded by arcane means.
Another look to the forest brought another growl from his throat. His tail swung about suddenly, snatched Bekka up and tossed her effortlessly onto his backside. Then, he began moving for the woods, and she would clearly see he intended to bash his way through them.
They won't come to us...fine...we'll come to them.
Survival of the fittest, I suppose."
With his comment about "tainted breeding" locking her jaws against any more revelations - Bekka certainly wasn't about to admit to the fact that her other half was Demonic, that her mother had been captured, tortured, and impregnated by Abaddon's minions.
"Only time will tell." She said lightly as she watched the tree line with him.
Then she let out a startled yip as his tail whipped about and deposited her upon his back.
They won't come to us...fine...we'll come to them.
She laughed, she couldn't help it as she imagined what a sight the pair of them must make.
Dragonrider's to the rescue She couldn't help but quote the tag line for one of Tanaara's most populare children's holios.
Red: *Thought* "This can't be...I'm sensing a pure breed Draco occidentalis maritimus... I thought I the only surviving dragon left.... although i'm a Draco orientalis..."
