Hey all, long time since I've been on NS, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in signing up for an earth set in 1492. I don't know if anyone remembers (or, for that matter, even heard of it), but E1492 was an invitational-only RP created over a month ago. I recruited from, who I consider to be, the best on NS to start the RP. After I had 12 players, we went offsite and started our nice little forum. Well, we're well underway now and everything's been going smoothly. One player backed out a few weeks ago for personal reasons and another left quite abruptly leaving us 10. The group decided we should replace these two players as well as recruit a third (and perhaps even fourth ;)) "newbie." I just wanna say that the nine we have left (not including myself) are perhaps some of the best RPers I've ever played with. I've made a handful of earth's before, but none have been so successful and I owe that all to the dedication of their great players I've had. So don't worry about the game lagging off due to inactivity or anything.

If you're interested, post here and I'll TG you the rules (they were posted on a seperate NS thread over a month ago) and, to maintain a level of professionalism among the players, I'd like to see an example of your work or dedication to other RPs. We're looking for the best of the best. RPing skill is important, but we value activity and cooperation over anything. If you look like a suitable candidate, I'll send you the link to our offsite forum so you can take a look around.

Thanks and I hope to get some good responses!

I'm not exactly a newbie, but I find the concept interesting, and would like to join.

I read the original thread, you know, the one where the RP was planned, but I cannot find it, would it be possible for someone to give me a link?

Aww, dang. I was hoping it would be a deathly boring rp! ;)

World Soviet and Kroando, I've sent you both TGs with the links to the rules. Note some of the rules have been altered slightly since its creation, but overall, they're pretty much the same.

Oh, I forgot to mention this above, we're particularly looking for people to RP someone in central or eastern Europe, or India. India would be an "advanced nation" (see rules). We have some fairly large blank spots on our map there.

Also, to those who I do TG the rules to, the maps on that thread are really outdated at this point (over a month old), so don't go by those.

Thanks, I'll start reading right now.

Almost done, one question though, do you have a list of "must-have" or specific requirements for the factbook?

Maybe a basic template?

Besides that, I'd like to join.

Our factbooks are all offsite, but, if you're really interested in joining, I can send you the link to our Invisionfree board.

You don't really need to send me any examples of your work, I've seen your stuff throughout NS before. As long as you can be active, you should be fine.

I have a few questions before I register. How are merchants earned? Does the aquisition of colonies eventually yield an increase in merchants? Is there any value for gold, or resources, or is it factored into the overall merchant value?

Merchants are earned every Monday (every week equals three years), they are administered based on valuable resources you have, population size, trade routes you own, ect. Gold, silver, luxury items, raw materials, they all factor in. Colonies, though not immediately, factor into your TMI (tri-annual merchant income). We've just entered the Colonial Era and Age of Exploration in the RP and some people's colonies are beginning to pay off.

Great, just take a look around at what's been going on (particularly the events).

In terms of exploration, New Brittonia (Celtic Confederation) and Ghassan (France) are the only people who have explored West Africa at this point and are the only players who can colonize it. Bredford (Portugal) and I (The Netherlands) recently discovered the area of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia and are the only people who can settle there just yet. Soon I'll open these areas up to further exploration and colonization for all by way of an event. Just to let you know, the only way to "discover" a new land, is to wait for an event. You can't RP it.

At this point we're only accepting players who join in (what we consider to be) Eastern Europe (see map on NS rules thread for the divide) and we still need someone to play as an advanced nation in India.

Is Austria open?

It is, I could probably set you up with more than just Austria, by the way (ie Czech Republic, Slovakia, what's left of Hungary). Would you like a link to our old NS thread that contains the rules?

This seems to have been swept aside, but I was wondering if anyone wanted to play some part of western Russia for the E1492 RP. It is currently 1504 and we would really like someone to step in a play the Russians. See prior posts for details. Thanks.

Nope, not really. We just got a Russia though, that's good news.
