Greal Summit Hall. Sasha

Usually the summit hall was used for meetings between Sons of Lenin or other alliances, but not today....

The Greal president and the Red Skull directer along with some of the cabinet arrived at the summit hall, they hoped that the meeting will do something good for Greal.....

OOC: Sorry about the short post

The President and his prime minister proceeded into the very familiar hall that served several meetings in their alliance. Now, it was a very important meeting for both Lord Sumguy and Greal, for the betterment between both countries, both the president and the prime minister would represent Zoingo in the matter.

Lord Sumguy and the Rt. Rev. George Claxton entered the hall and sat down at one end of the long table, each with a grave expression. This was the first time the two men had been in the same room in several years, as each made a habit of avoiding direct contact with one another so as to put to rest any fears that the Abrahamic Legaue and the Sumguaian government were linked in any way.

OOC: i dont mind the short post, this one isnt much better.

President Sarah Watson and Peter Watson sat across from the Sumguaian delegate, her brother and the rest of the cabinet did the same.

The Hegemon was the first to break the silence, his tone of voice entirely neutral, his expression unreadable:

"Well, let us not waste time with meaningless formalities. I understand that your nation is under threat from a number of foreign powers, angered by the actions of your secret police. As Hegemon i have power to defend you against these foes, who would likely back down if you had the official support of the Hegemony against them. I am afraid that i sympathise with these nations however. Indeed, the existance of the Red Skull and it's actions are in violation of the Hegemony charter, and i would therefore be justified in expelling Greal from the Hegemony or even joining those who would initiate a regime change within your nation. I doubt that any of us would be happy with that option though, and therefore offer my support to you should Greal make certain...reforms."

"The Abrahamic League will also defend the nation of Greal against it's enemies should you make certain changes to your governmental structure. There can still be a peaceful solution to this crisis, and we wish to exhaust such an option before we pursue more..drastic measures." Rev. Claxton added emotionlessly.

"What kind of reforms?"asked Peter Watson who was in no mood to disband the Red Skull, originally, the Black Skull was the main secret police agency, but then Peter Watson personally shot their leader and made it the Red Skull.

"Well, I personally would like to se the disbandmant of the Red Skull and the creation of a representative democratic system within the nation of Greal. Before you answer, please remember what kind of a position you are in. You have a fleet from TAP positioned just outside your waters, obviously readying for an atack. Also, many of your allies will become your enemies should you refuse ato initiate reform, as I am capable and willing to cause the Hegemony to declare war upon your current government. The AL will also join the Hegemony forces,a nd the other members of GOOD would support me, not you. Know that if there is to be no peacefull transition, one will be made through force. I am sorry that it had to come to this but i must give you a choice: cooperate or be deposed. Do not think that i lack the will to bring war to your lands either, It was I who led the revolution in my nation, and I am no stranger to using force to acheive a greater good."

He sighed, and continued. "Your one ally in this crisis, Leocardia, will likely not aid you either, as they are and have been strong allies of the Holy Empire for many years. I urge you Ms. Watson, to ignore your pride and your idealogy, to do what is best for your people. I do not wish to cause the deaths of the soldiers of your country, or those of any present here, but I will do what I must for the good of humanity."

Lord Sumguy finished speaking and awaited an answer, his expression one of sincere concern and goodwill.

"Well, I personally would like to se the disbandmant of the Red Skull and the creation of a representative democratic system within the nation of Greal. Before you answer, please remember what kind of a position you are in. You have a fleet from TAP positioned just outside your waters, obviously readying for an atack. "We not only have Leocardia, we have some of SOL on our side."said Peter who almost interrupted Sarah's speech. He was very mad that the Red Skull had to be disbanded......

The other Ministers didn't say much, they just listened, since Sarah was the most powerful person in Greal.

"I will accept provincal elections and the disbandment of the Red Skull, with a eight-year deadline for presidential elections. I also wish for your government to outlaw the practices that the Red Skull has been until now engaged in." The Hegemon said, now smiling.

Rebecca St. James of the Christian Democrat Party boarded her 747. Several prominent members of the Government.

Together, they went over what they where expecting to try and put together at the meeting. The only thing the members of the diverse political parties could agree on was the removal of the Red Skull, and the reform of the Greal Nation as a representative government.

The plane landed, its black and red belly and stripe standing out against the white of the top of the plane. As it taxied, the Marines onboard watched the Greal forces warily, not wanting to be caught un-awares.

The group dismounted, and boarded a number of limos that where wheeled out of the back of the plane. They drove to the meeting hall, and entered to see the Hegemon of Lord Sumguy, and the President of Greal.

So long as the people fear to speak dissent in public, the nation will remain a fear society, and it will bring us once again to the situation in which we find ourselves today. No, provincial elections now would be fool hardy."

"We are no 'Outside Nation.' We stopped being an outside nation the moment half of our fleet took up position off of Greal's coast in a military blockade. So long as they abuse their people, we will be an involved nation."

"And it maybe true that the American Privateer fleet is blockading the island, but it techinically means that your fleet is outside of Greal ground, so you are still an outside nation. Where as the nations of Lord Sumguy and Zoingo have bases inside of Greal ground because we are allies, and we seak to solve the problem at hand. This ranting by your side seemes to only prevoke more problems, and this is getting the meeting nowhere. And the people of Greal are not that complaining, infact, their people are allowed to live the life that they wish, so they are not technically abused either. If their jobs, home, family, or values were obstructed, then that would be being abused. Now Mrs. Watson and Lord Sumguy, please excuse my conversation with these obstructed people, and continue." the president replied calmly.

The Roland shook his head and repled "Yes, but the difference between the Soviets and Greal is that the Soviets obstructed their life and had no way of telling the world about their suffers, which is of course, both no free press and isolationalism put together. Greal on the other hand, has its citizens live there lives comfortably, and without any thing like wage control, or farming reforms, ect. And we know that their goverment is not letting in any new people to the table, which is the matter currently that has been solved effectively. But can I ask a question from you ladies and gentlement on the American Privateer side......have you seen a single government that rapidly changed overnight succeed? I have yet to see one..."

"If such a change occured so fast, their could be a multiple of things, recession, food shortages, revolts, the list goes on people! So that is why certain governments, like democracy.....have to start from the ground up, and starting with Providencial elections, then democracy can build up in Greal."

The Admiral spoke up there, as the President nodded to him. "For one, yes, I have. For a long time, I was the sole ruler of The American Privateer. Though I had a Cabinet and a Legislative branch, I was the Final say on all issues. When i stepped down from my role, our government was able to shift over overnight."

"Besides," President St. James continued, "The whole reason we want to start with free press before elections is so that we can begin with laying the foundation necessary for Democracy to work. But, as Mr. Sharansky has clearly stated in his seminal work, The Case for Democracy, the freedoms must be established and protected before elections can even be contemplated.

"If we do not try this, if we switch over to a Democracy immediately, you will find yourself in a mess similar to that which the Americans of Earth-1 found themselves in when they tried to set up Democracy in Iraq."

Altford Ford, Chairman of the Libertarian Party, spoke up then. "You speak of differences between Greal and the USSR. But do you truly understand what has been stated? Both are Fear Societies, where the populace is prevented from dissenting through fear of death or imprisonment. So long as that fear pervades, then elections are pointless. Look at the USSR immediately after its collapse. A sense of fear still pervaded, and elections where held soon after. However, because the Free Press had not yet been established to strength, the Ex-Head of the KGB was able to take over, and he began to use a Secret Police to murder reporters who disagreed with his rule. This is what we seek to prevent."

"Admiral, I am highly intrigued by your story at the moment," Replied Roland, ignoring the others ranting at him and at Francis.

"Now, did your nation have any sort of libritarian government before your dictatorship? And my second question, what sort of freedoms did you give your populace? I just wanted to know out of context."

Francis turned to the ranting party...

The people are allowed to do anything they want in a normal democratic society, except to run for office, and to speak out against their govenrment. But they are not a Fear society, for they have nothing to fear from, except maybe writing a newspaper article, which this case has been stated over and over and is trying to be solved. The Soviets literally made their life miserable, and that is known, but the people of Greal live normal lives as far as Civil status goes, and we know it. I know that I shouldn't say this infornt of you Mrs. Watson, but over the last couple of years, we have had espionage at work and disguising themselves as ordinary citizens, and have brought back reports constantly. Greal does not tell them when to start working, when to take a break, start again, go home, eat dinner, rest, and then wake up again, which clearly the Soviets did. And if you must continue to press the matter further, one of the main sources of Fear in Greal is the Red Skull, which is also pending disbandation." Francis explained, then shooting a glance over at Peter.

Peter heard him yell about Greal. Well, at least we aren't the USSR. Greal is better then that.

Leocardian Rep. Mason arrived late in the meeting. Everyone in the private meeting looked surprised at him, as he walked in to the room under the Leocardian flag. He knew what Leocardia is doing, and he knew how to negotiate. He stood and looked around as he took the first couple steps inside the building.

"Right here, sir." A Greali guard directed him. Mason looked at the empty seat and simply walked straight over and sat down. He tucked his chair closer to the table and let out a deep sigh. "Sorry I'm late. The guards didn't know I was invited, as for that, I'm angry at why haven't they've been informed that a Leocardian rep. would attend when everyone else is." He let out another sigh. "Let's get on to business."

"Admiral, I am highly intrigued by your story at the moment," Replied Roland, ignoring the others ranting at him and at Francis.

"Now, did your nation have any sort of libritarian government before your dictatorship? And my second question, what sort of freedoms did you give your populace? I just wanted to know out of context."

"Again, you missed the presidents point, so one more time I will clear this up. The people are allowed to do anything they want in a normal democratic society, except to run for office, and to speak out against their govenrment. But they are not a Fear society, for they have nothing to fear from, except maybe writing a newspaper article, which this case has been stated over and over and is trying to be solved. The Soviets literally made their life miserable, and that is known, but the people of Greal live normal lives as far as Civil status goes, and we know it. I know that I shouldn't say this infornt of you Mrs. Watson, but over the last couple of years, we have had espionage at work and disguising themselves as ordinary citizens, and have brought back reports constantly. Greal does not tell them when to start working, when to take a break, start again, go home, eat dinner, rest, and then wake up again, which clearly the Soviets did. And if you must continue to press the matter further, one of the main sources of Fear in Greal is the Red Skull, which is also pending disbandation." Francis explained, then shooting a glance over at Peter.

We were like Greal, without the secret police, and with more freedom."

"Yes, your right, they do not control the lives of the people." Mr. DuPont turned to the President of Greal and asked, "If your citizens where to go out into the street and dissent against the government at the top of their lungs, what would happen?"

"We have looked, and cannot find them. And remember, our spy satellites can read a novel in death valley from high orbit."

Therefore it seems to me that the implementation of these reforms depends on wether you are indeed the ruler of Greal, or wether you are not in complete control, and are being manipulated by others." He gestured at Peter as if to give an example. "If the latter is true, then I offer the assistance of the Abrahamic League in rectifying such a situation." He smiled disarmingly at Peter. "As they say in the Holy Empire, one should not use rotten wood to build a new house."

Mason stood up and walked right behind Lord Sumguy's official. He heard those whispers, and entered into the room. Both in the room looked at Mason. "I'm with Greal."

"Mr. President, please don't go in....this situation is already out of hand." he told him.

He then took Francis' hand off, and continued into the room.
