Unicorn Class Light Fleet Carrier
Producer: Beaufort Naval Industries
Overview: The first series of Unicorn carriers, all named after mythical heroes, beasts, or tales, were laid down before the war, hoping to come into service within 8 months of hostilities. Thankfully, the conflict did not last long, and as massive budget cuts were announced postwar, the history of the Unicorn Class seemed to be at an end: it looked as if she would be scrapped. However, the First Sea Lord stubbornly refused to accept the fifty Unicorns completed would be either old off or scrapped, and secretly the bureaucracy transferred funds from other areas and took out small loans to pay for these carriers, whose debut would ensure that many more would be produced. Today the Unicorn class fills a unique niche in Questarian naval capability; she can do absolutely anything neccessary of a carrier, from fleet defence, to strike, to ASW and amphibious assault. Her Hawker Cossack S.2s and their AS-62 and AS-80 missiles allow her to strike and damage, or even destroy the heaviest of Superdreadnoughts.

The Unicorn Class Light Fleet carrier is the accompanyment vessel to both the Triumph and Ark Royal Class Carriers, acting as a small platform to fill in holes in fleet air defence or strike missions. Her Mk.IV O4800 C4I Package however, allows her to command her own battlegroup, and the the Mk.X C405 Command Package allows her to control up to 55 aircraft in the sky at once. This means that the Unicorn is a truly multipurpose vessel; she can act as an assault carrier, carrying marines for an amphibious landing, as a strike vessel bombing targets on the shore or enemy shipping, or as a fleet air defence vessel, with a full load of Blackburn Beaufort light fighters to protect the skies in tandem with her Sportsman AEW.2 AWACs.

In the fleet air defence role, she can ommit her squadron of Hawker Cossack S.2s for another three squadrons of Blackburn Beauforts allowing her to field 48 fighters, giving larger carriers the ability to field larger strike forces. It is typical for Questarian Carrier Battle Groups at sea for Ark Royal Classes to 'swap' their light fighter / bomber squadrons with Unicorn Classes to allow them to concentrate on a strike role. If her fixed wing aircraft are ommited, she can carry 24 large helicopters like the Chinook and 12 smaller rotary aircraft, allowing her to perform as a marine landing vessel.

She can even perform ASW missions; swapping out fixed wing squadrons for squadrons of ASW helicopters and Supermarine Sirius ASW aircraft, to secure over four million square kilometres of sea zone from enemy submarines.

Battle Class Escort Carrier
Producer: Beaufort Naval Industries
Overview: The Battle Class is the escort carrier of the Royal Navy, developed to escort all forms of battle groups. She lacks sufficient carrying room for aviation ordnance to be employed as a fleet carrier, but she makes up for this in endurance and high provisions, giving the crew an increase in their daily rations making the Battle a more pleasurable ship to serve on, given the long times at sea it can be justified to travel for. Long range radar, a high AWACs/ASW aircraft count and a good number of heavy fighters, the Battle provides a 600 kilometre engagement CAP around a fleet, and with her AWACS allows a reported 430 kilometre detection range for surface targets and for aerial targets anywhere from 400 to a reported 650 kilometres for unstealthy aircraft.

During training operations in the Strobovian Strait, a Supermarine Sportsman flying at 8,300 metres and 250 kilometres out from the fleet picked up a flight of aircraft at 11,000 metres an astonishing 653,350 metres away. Reporting this back the carrier HMS Somme, No.3385 Squadron (FAA) launched from the decks and were vectored to the targets, engaging them at 550,000 metres from the ship.

Ark Royal Class Carrier
Producer: Beaufort Naval Industries
Overview: The Ark Royal is the heavy carrier of the RN, operating on a 1:4 ratio with the Triumph Class Carrier. She employs the same Mk.XI 90m Electromagnetic Catapult Runway as the Triumph Class and the same elavator size, albeit with a larger hangar and more elavators to increase the amount of aircraft launchable proportionately to her airwing. Her increased tanker load allows her to strike at longer ranges with more aircraft than the Triumph Class and as such the Ark Royal is a fearsome anti-shipping platform as well as more than capable of defending itself from sea and air attack with her large complement of heavy and light fighters and anti submarine aircraft.

While comparable carriers may seem to hold similar airwings with much less displacement, the key to the Ark Royal's large tonnage is her massive aviation fuel docks, holding an incredible 18,000 tons of aviation fuel in four seperate containers with the most modern damage control and anti-explosion protection available to the Royal Navy. These 18,000 tons of fuel allow the Ark Royal to continue carrier operations on a standard basis for two weeks, vastly extending her ability to operate with minimal logistics. Adding to this she carries 3,950 tons of aviation ordnance.

Her extended AEW screen allows 100%, 24/7 coverage of the ship up to 600 kilometres out for surface and aerial targets, allowing the carrier to ready her interceptor or bomber wings. The large deck area allows her to keep twelve Beaufort Light Fighters and eight Blackburn Battle Heavy Fighters on deck, to be launched at any time to respond to inbound threats. As well as this, four SAR HELOs and four Sirius AS.2 aircraft are kept on deck permanently, though they can be stored in the hangar.

Foxbury Class Assault Carrier
Producer: Beaufort Naval Industries
Overview: The Foxbury Assault Carrier is a highly capable platform for amphibious assault employed by the Royal Navy as half of the Amphibious Assault Programme, using helicopters to land marines in areas where RIBs and assault boats cannot reach. Although she is able to use a whole range of aircraft and she can easily be fitted with catapults and arrestor wires, the Foxbury Class is not used as a fixed-wing aircraft carrier.

Carrying a large amount of ordnance that can be transported via air from the venerable Westland Warrior, she can airlift 1,800 marines and various small vehicles and artillery in support. UAVs and helicopters provide recon and fire support for landing marines to set up bases and can transfer across the ships second store of dry provisions to keep landing forces supplied.

Electronically she is equipped with a Mk.IV O4800 C4I package and the improved G250 GPS Transmitter to act as a headquarters ship for up to an entire army group. Furthermore her 3-D Aerial Search RADAR can track targets over land to inform marine surface to air groups. In this way she provides full reconaissance, supply, and aerial support to a marine landing brigade.

Triumph Class Carrier
Producer: Beaufort Naval Industries
Overview: The Triumph Class Medium Carrier is the workhorse of the Royal Navy's Carrier Groups. Historically the Navy had preffered larger carriers, capable of carrying up to three hundred planes as its primary carrier striking force. This was deemed unsuitable as it was discovered that carrier operations with this many planes was becoming inefficient, and in any case the Hiryu class carriers were becoming outdated in many respects.

Due to developments in new technology (http://www.lakehurst.navy.mil/nlweb/ieeerevc.pdf) it was decided to equip the Triumph Class with her own ski jumps, alongside EM elavators, which were also chosen because of the higher weight of modern carrier aircraft.

The air wing's main strike force comes from her Hawker Cossack S.2s, who are able to launch large missiles at long range, and supported by Battle F.1 and Sportsman AEW.2s form an effective "offensive barrier" against enemy carrier operations. Tactically, Questarian carrier tactics call for carriers to advance against the enemy, with groups of aircraft actively attacking enemy planes, especially AWACs, and groups of fighters constantly moving up alongside their own AWACs. Simultaenously, after enemy AWACs have been defeated, strike aircraft such as the Hawker or the Sea Fury will go in low and fast to deliver their payloads against enemy carriers. The Sea Fury E.2 even allows a degree of electronic attack against enemy ship to air radars.

The large magazines and magazine elavators of the class allow it to carry large weaponry, including nuclear weapons. Furthermore, her multirole helicopters and Supermarine Sirius anti-submarine aircraft allow her to assist her escorts in scanning for enemy subsurface threats and delivering approrpiate payloads against them, or conducting search and rescue operations for downed pilots. The Triumph Class Carrier can truly do everything, as she even holds Hawker Calcutta GR.3 aircraft for specialised shore bombardment, aided by the Sea Fury aircraft.

Her radar arrays allow her a degree of self defence, coupled with her own armament, but the Triumph cannot survive alone. However, her powerful radar provides assistance to other ships in the fleet, with its tall height and long probing range it can spot ships up to 200 kilometres out using wave riding techniques.

Type 29 Class General Purpose Destroyer
Producer: Beaufort Naval Industries
Overview: The Type 29 Class boast a diverse armament. Its Light Gun.50 5.25" gun is capable of shore bombardment and anti shipping work, and utilises advanced capability shells for a maximum range of 33km. 260 shells are stored in the protective magazine. The gun is remote controlled from the weapons room by weapons officer and an engineer crew are on station to fix any problems that may arise in the heat of battle. In addition to this, the 18" torpedo tubes boost the surface to surface capabilities and can also attack submarines. A pair of reloads for both TTs are carried; there are a pair of tubes starboard and a pair of tubes port, and using homing torpedoes combined with the agility of the ship means they can attack ships in any directions.

The ship uses both Mk.60 and Mk.33 VL cells. The Mk.60 is a small VLS that employs the Sea Dagger SA.38E surface to air missile. The VLS is linked with the main supercomputer in the ship's heart, and is too directly networked with the R1360 and R9950 RADAR systems as well as the T4900 Targeting Array. This allows the missiles to be targeted and launched in rapid succession up to a maximum range of 350km. The Mk.60 cells are mounted behind the main gun at the fore of the ship.At the aft of the ship, sixteen Mk.60 cells, linked to the same RADAR systems as the Mk.55 but also the G190 GPS Transmitter, provide the surface to surface element. Large missiles such as X and Y can be modularly fitted into the Mk.55 to provide the Type 29 with a surface to surface strike capability, meaning the Type 29 is capable of fighting any size ship afloat (though nothing is guaranteed as to the amount of damage it will inflicit against a 3 million ton superdreadnought!).

Defensively, the ship is defedned by a pair of Type 99 rolling airframe launchers, one port, and one starboard. They can deal with fast rockets at ranges up to ten kilometres and the missiles themselves use their own active radar to target incoming missiles. A single 35mm PDS.2 CIWS is mounted aft behind the Mk.33 launchers, and combined with fou Seashield Decoy Launchers, makes up the last ditch defense against incoming missiles. The ship also mounts a variety of "specialist" defence; the Mk.XV Active Electronic Defence Mounting targets up to three enemy missiles from as far as 55 kilometres away and works to scramble their radar. It can also be used as a sound weapon to attack fast patrol boats and such, as well as the 35mm autocannons.

Subject: Triumph Class Carrier

Castilla y Belmonte is currently undergoing a fleet reorganization and modernization, developing in tandem with the modernization of the entire armed forces. In regards to the Armada, the kingdom lacks the engineers to develope a carrier superior to any foreign option and therefore it is much more logical when taken into account from an economical perspective to use a foreign design. Given Beaufort Naval Industries' prestige and world-reknown, we are interested in ordering ship designs from the company - one for now.

Specifically, for now, we're interested in indigenously producing a number of Triumph class carrier (it would be renamed the [i]Triumfo[/] class). Our interest is to construct under contract four (4) carriers, which would come out to the price of the contract (therefore, coming out a bit cheaper per ship) and have six (6) delivered to us by Beaufort Naval Industries - for a total of ten (10) ships. We would pay $30 billion universal standard dollars (USD) for the six (6) vessels provided by BNI, and an amount suggested by BNI for the four (4) carriers constructed in our own shipyards.

This contract, hopefully, would also include the ability to construct a further four (4) vessels indigenously in the future - bringing the total to fourteen (14) fleet carriers.

Thank you for your time,

Type 165 'Town Class' Anti Air Warfare Cruiser
Producer: Beaufort Naval Industries
Overview: Compared to contemporary designs, the Town Class is slow, having small cramped engines, and she is not a nice ship to serve on, nor is she well rounded, incapable of conducting ship to ship warfare past gun ranges. However, she is included in every Questarian taskgroup for the sole reason she is a premier, worldsetting air defence vessel which is superior in capability to its already famous predecessor; the Mogami Class.

The Town Class is configured to fire three types of anti air missiles from its Mk.60 Hot Launch Vertical Cell (HOLVEC), though it can carry many more. The first is the SA.34F Sea Dagger, a small quad packable missile designed to be used as a close range missile, engaging targets 60 kilometres out from the fleet. They are extremely fast and manevourable missiles, that can either seperate out to different targets or lump on larger missiles. The supercomputer of the vessel is able to give out orders in a nanosecond to each cell, and with the quad packed, it can order each cell to attack up to four different targets rather than just one. The effectiveness of the SA.34 can be increased by firing it before the target is in range of the missile, so that the two hit each other head on rather than have the missile launched as soon as the target is in range.

The second type is the SA.38E Sea Sabre, which is single packed into the fore VLS. It can engage targets at up to 350 kilometres from the fleet with extreme accuracy. This is the general defence missile, and can engage missiles and aircraft that are wandering into the airspace. While guided by the main ships radar to the targets using an INS package, its own active radar seeks out targets which can be "selected" by the ships main radar, allowing the Sea Sabre to see stealthier targets by focusing its radar on them in conjunction with the ships radar. Furthermore the missiles are all datalinkable, which means they can all focus their radar beams on what used to be a stealthy target, lighting it up for a more accurate attack run.

The third is the SA.42B theatre defence missile, which is a four stage missile designed to intercept ICBM sized AShMs such asthe Khan and its ripoffs. The SA.42B has done this successfully in tests before, compounding on the previous Air Defence Cruiser, the Mogami, and its infamous capabilities as a fleet defence vessel against any threat.

Sea Dagger SA.34F
The Sea Dagger SA.34F is the primary light surface to air missile used by the RN. It is designed to be quad packed into the Mk.60 Vertical Launch System, but also to be used by various models of rolling airframe launchers and to engage mostly missiles attacking the fleet it is defending, though it can of course attack aircraft. The thrust vectoring powerplant allows the missile a higher degree of maneouvrability against the increasingly more capable anti shipping missiles.

Sea Heron AS.18S
The Sea Heron is a vertically launched, anti-submarine missile which can employ either a homing torpedo or a nuclear depth charge to attack and destroy submarine formations. It relies on detection and location of the submarine via an aerial or seaborne sound navigation and ranging device, as it is guided to the target inertially. When fired into the air, the Sea Heron plunges down in the vicinity of the submarine, releasing a parachute retarded homing torpedo around the submarine as the casing of the missile falls into the ocean, having completed its job of delivernig the torpedo. It is usually hot launched from the Mk.60 GPVLS but can fit in other VLS and can be tube launched.

SS-N-45 / P-600 Sea Lion AShM
Producer: Hawker
Overview: The Hawker SS-N-45 Sea Lion is a ship to ship missile designed to precisely engage heavily protected vessels and sink or damage them. This is not a weapon that, as military theorists call it, "spams" the enemy target. She is expensive, but boasts a heavy avionics suite plus high manevourability and survivability, as well as a missile to missile datalink enabling up to ten missiles to coordinate.

After being fired in salvo from their platform (the SS-N-45 is designed to be cold launched), the missiles are guided to their target by INS/GPS and her Imperial Avionics Mid Course Correctional Device allows the SS-N-45 to change its course mid flight, assuming correct data can be relayed by satellite or a ship based INS system. This system is not fully effective and it has been advised commanders do not rely on it and should only launch when there is a clear path to the target.

The missiles will fly at 25 metres above sea level at approximately 450 m/s for most of the flight, and every so often a missile will "pop up" when it nears the enemy fleet, gathering information and if given data by the launching ship or satellite, will find and designate a target; whether it be a carrier or a superdreadnought. As designated by the RN she is a "precision" missile - that is, one missile should be used to designate a target so that the rest can attack it, rather than spread out and hit the nearest vessel. This allows high precision strikes on an enemy capital vessel.

When it gets near to the target, the SS-N-45 speeds up, switches on its active home-on radar, and uses its limited ECM suite to directly attack the target it is being guided to, as well as using ECCM to jam locks, releasing large amounts of chaff, and using her thrust vectoring engines to escape missiles and CIWS, doing sharp turns and jerks at a maximum of 21G. At this point all missiles will have the data programmed in from the "lead missile", and so if the lead missile is destroyed it will not effect the flight pattern; in any case, any missile can take this position, so if the lead missile is knocked out en-route but the others survive, another can take up the job of differentiating targets and feeding them back to the other missiles. When it gets within visual range and has locked on with its radar, the terminal IR/LIDAR begins to acquire the final target.

Before impact, the SS-N-45 will use its last booster to accelerate to up to 900 metres per second, hitting the target at almost mach 2.6. Her 100kg tungsten penetrator smashes through the armour of her target, and ignites the incendiary fuse; a split second after penetration, the incendiaries shoot out from the missile and explode in the ship, just before the 600kg of high explosives detonates. The incendiaries act to block damage control by spreading fires over the immediate area of detonation. Sailors who watched the destruction of target ships record an SS-N-45 impact as a morale killing sight; all they see before the missile hits is a blur and the armoured belt of a vessel being torn asunder, before explosions shake the vessel, sinking entire cruisers with a single hit.

Type 168 'Admiral Class' Strike Cruiser
Producer: Beaufort Naval Industries
Overview: The Admiral Class Strike Cruiser is an advancement on the County Class Cruiser in widespread Questarian service in previous years. Her distinctive shape, with her two R5000 3-D Air Search and her R8800 3-D Sea Search radars, coupled with her Mk.IX G600 Satellite and Inertial Guidance Package and Mk.VII G650 Satellite and Radio Communications Package, coupled with the two large and two low raised sections for her SS-45 missiles give her a recognisable shape, whos silhouette is often seen patrolling the Questarian Inland Sea and who's easily spotted radar reflection becomes familiar to foreign navies as reports of the ships capability in the surface to surface role become apparent.

That is precisely what the Admiral Class Cruiser was designed for, filling in the niche for surface to surface warfare. Packing THREE blocks of the new Mk.36 Cold Launch Angled Cell [COLAC], each being a squared metre and a half of width and twelve metres of depth, she can fit missiles such as the Soviet SS-N-19, the Rosdivani Rufous, and can even quad pack the P-800, known infamously as the Yakhont. However she is designed to use the SS-45, a fire and forget missile (as long as the launching ship confirms INS data from a satellite, provided by the G650 and G600 systems) to maximum effect in sinking Superdreadnoughts and Aircraft Carriers.

However, one extremely limiting factor of the Admiral Class, despite its heavy firepower, is the fact that only the fore angled cells point forwards. The ship must turn around so that the targets location is within 155 degrees (max tested) of the launchers before firing. This has led to some problems where ships have fired missiles off while maneouvring a tactical circle, resulting in a "shotgun spread" of some missiles which can severely damage their capability as they lose their original trajectory. However, this was deemed the only way to grant the Admiral Class enough firepower to be effective for its size and cost.

The Tolvanic Navy requests DPRs for the Unicorn class light carrier to replace our aging Bay class escort carriers and to serve in a "swing" role to supplement our fleet carreirs and amphibous assault ships. We plan oerate the carriers with our existing carrier borne aircraft. However, we wish to know if the following modifications are possible:

replace the electronics suite with Tolvanic standard equipment
replace the Type 99 RAM launchers with the Tolvanic Mk. 37 RAM launcher system

We are of course willling to pay an additional feeto alter the design as requested.

Dear Sir/Madam,

For ASW, we'd suggest the
Type 31 Destroyer (ASW Destroyer): It uses missiles containing torpedoes to attack submarines, plus a decent helicopter armament.

For Anti Air, we'd suggest the:
Type 32 Destroyer (AAW Destroyer): Good sensors and missiles.

But most defintely you need the
Town Class Cruiser (AAW Cruiser): It is big for an escort, but big means capable, and you need capable ships to defend your capital vessels. The Town Class, we think, is the strongest air defence vessel out there.

Thanks for your custom,

Communique from the Imperium
Hail Cohenia!

To whom it may concert at Beaufort Naval Industries:

On behalf of the Imperium and the Imperial Cohenian Navy, I inquire as to making a purchase solely on domestic production rights of ships in your very own navy. As you may or may not know, the Cohenian Imperium is not exactly known for her navy (or for her army and air force). We, however, would like to make the Cohenian Imperium some sort of a naval power that operates more than a few ships to protect our homeland. In order to succeed as a nation in today's times, you must maintain a strong fleet to protect your interests abroad. For this reason, we must purchase ships from your very own company. BNI has been recommended by numerous a source to the Imperial Cohenian Navy, thus we shall request the domestic production rights to the following:

Ark Royal Class Carrier ~ $20 billion
Triumph Class Carrier ~ $15 billion
Type 32 AAW Destroyer ~ $10 billion
Admiral Class Strike Cruiser ~ $10 billion
Town Class Anti Air Warfare Cruiser ~ $12 billion
SS-N-45 ~ $.05 billion
Sea Dagger SA.34F ~ $.010 billion
Sea Sabre SA.38E ~ $.010 billion

The total of our purchases come to $67.07 billion. If we are correct, we also are a favored nation as members of A.C.I.D.. This entitles us to a 1.5% discount of our total, making the grand total $66.06395 billion. We will, at your preference, either send gold bullion or wire cash.

Thank you,

OOC: Hey, I've finally decided as to the composition of the forces I wish to purchase (or at least a general idea), but now I see a notable problem--I don't know what quantity I should get. Now, seeing that you have absolutely no vested interest in skewing the amount I purchase, I wanted to ask your advice. Being that I am trying to bring my navy up to the task of effectively maintaining (patrolling and defending) my empire as well as being an arm of my military in foreign seas, and that escorts are a very important part of an effective navy, what sort of numbers would you recommend I purchase?

Type 38 "Principal Destroyer"
Overview: The Type 38, also known as the 'Principal Destroyer', is the Royal Navy's next generation escort designed to fullfill all roles that a Destroyer can do. The Admiralty's request for an "All Purpose Destroyer, capable of Anti-Submarine and Anti-Air Escort, Trade Line Patrol, and Anti Shipping Attack" was met by three projects provided for by Beaufort Naval Industries; one was a light cruiser, one a frigate, and one a destroyer. Ultimately, the Type 38 was the design chosen because it provided the best firepower for money, plus a whole new batch of automated systems to cut down on crew costs in relation to size. The Type 38 is capable of all roles presented to it.

The primary armament of the Principal Destroyer are her VLS tubes. They are 90cm wide and 90cm long, and 7.5 metres deep meaning they can fit a large variety of missiles; ASROC, Anti Shipping, and Anti Air. In RN service, the VLS tubes are split. The fore cells are fitted entirely with SA.38E Sea Dagger missiles for long range air and missile defence, and the rear cells are also split. Half are dedicated to close range defence, quad packing the smaller SA.34F missilefor close defence, and the other half being loaded out with SA.38Es to provide a large complement of surface to air missiles in a balanced and powerful pair of roles. Detection of enemy missiles and aircraft is left to the ANGLED MAN and GREY VASE radars, which can detect missiles and aircraft of distances up to five hundred kilometres. They provide the information to the TOWEL TOP Fire Control system which gives firing solutions, coordinates, and patternsto surface to air weapons.

The dedicated surface to surface weapons on the vessel are threefold. Firstly, a Lionheart naval Gunnery Mk 95 135mm/55 gun is mounted on the fore with 220 rounds. Capable of 45 rounds per minute, the 135mm can be used in all roles; anti air, anti shipping, and shore bombardment, with a maximum range of 36,000 metres and a maximum elavation of seventy degrees, she can engage any target presentable to the vessel. Again, while radar is used to detect target, firing solutions are given by the RLII9TAWDAI NIG NOG Fire Control System. The gun is capable of firing rocket assisted rounds to as far as 110,000 metres out, although with serious accuracy problems. With this armament, the Principal Destroyer can be used as shore bombardment or to defend itself and other assets against fast attack craft and torpedo boats.

Furthermore, two centreline quad box Mk.56 tubes contain free launch missiles, such as the Questarian SS-N-77, but can also hold Exocets, Harpoons, SS-N-25, Tomahawk, or smaller missiles. Four fore quad box Mk.46 quad tubes contain 16 AS.18 Heron missiles, or ASROC missiles, or any other torpedo missile for anti submarine work. These missiles are assisted by either the ships missile fire control systems, giving the Principal Destroyer dedicated anti shipping capability if her VL cells are taken up by SAMs. These take up the main dedicated anti shipping role, with the fore gun acting in support.

Lastly, four torpedo tubes, two port and two starboard, assist in anti submarine and anti shipping operations, with 250mm torpedo tubes. These also feed from the same magazine that the aerial torpedoes for the helicopters do. These torpedo tubes can also launch mines if the minesa re the correct size, otherwise the mines can be launched from the helo deck or by helo. This allows the Type 38 to attack civilian shipping discreetly by using mines, or to protect friendly waterways and harbours.

Greetings!

The Orzi navy is currently in an expansion period, needing to replace a number of aging vessels as well as replace ones lost in the recently conlcuded LION-Kroandon War. Our admirals are most interested in your Town Class AAW Crusier and the Admiral Class Strike Cruiser. As such, we wish to purchase the following:

25x Town Class AAW Crusiers @ $4 billion/per = $100 billion
25x Admiral Class Strike Cruiser @ $3.5 billion/per = 87.5 billion

Total of $187.5 billion will be wired upon confirmation of order.

Should we find these ships acceptable, we will be back for a larger order, perhaps even production rights. Thank you.

Absolutely ecstatic to here it!

The last time I got involved with this argument there were so called RL ‘nautical engineers’ defending them. Since I’ve been at uni and college however, all the engineers I’ve shown the idea have doubled over laughing.

In that case in place of the SDs I would like to purchase one, SD sized ignore cannon, similar to the one you use.

Power to the people with some brains!

BTW, good store front. I might come back later and make some real purchases.

Message from Alexander Kazansky

I have decided to spend some of my earnings from the recent Wagdog-Confederate Banking Corporation deal to purchase a variety of equipment for the University of Concord – which, as you know, has grown a lot recently.

As such I wish to purchase the following equipment as a donation for the University:

1 Foxbury class assault carrier
3 Type 31 ASW destroyers
5 Type 38 destroyers
4 Type 27 Frigates
Two supply ships of any kind you choose to build.

I will pay 27 billion dollars for this in gold ingots.

Priority: High
Recipient: Beaufort Naval Industries
Origin: Ministry of Defense
Classification Level: Secure
Subject: Procurement of Type 38 Destroyer

The Empire has reviewed the Type 38 Destroyer and wishes to procure as many as sixty-two vessels to replace our aging Indefatigable Flight II class destroyers. As per our discussion, the Empire is interested in a nuclear powered variant. Our reactor of choice is based on a pebblebed system and we will wire the appropriate sum of $5,000,000,000.00 for research and development into this concept and the subsequent development of these vessels.

We wish to procure domestic production rights for this vessel, or licensing rights. The available sum of $5,000,000,000.00 will be wired in addition to the original amount of the same. We will then construct our vessels with several modifications, some of which will include different gun systems, the exclusion of the Mark 56 for an armored box launcher system, and several other modifications.

We appreciate your assistance in this matter.

Sincerely,
The Minister of Defense

Classification Levels

Standard: Standard classification is the normal level of encryption. It is equivalent to the standard levels of encryption seen on most secure e-mail clients.

Confidential: Confidential classification is a higher level of encryption than "Standard" but it is not heavily encrypted. It is used mostly for flash traffic to foreign countries and requires some additional decoding time. It uses 512-bit RSA encryption methods and has several key ciphers that change unpredictably.

Secure: Secure communiques use 1024-bit RSA encryption and several key ciphers within them that change unpredictably to ensure that message traffic is not hacked or decoded. Access to said messages would require heavy cracking software and significant resources but it is not "uncrackable." It can be a viable level through 2010.

Encrypted: Encrypted classification is the second highest level of classification. It is uses 2048-bit RSA encryption and multiple key ciphers within it to ensure that cracking it would take such a significant amount of time to accomplish that, should it be done, the message's usefulness would have already expired. Though anything is crackable, because of the methods employed, this level is often considered "uncrackable" by current capabilities. To ensure revolving protecting, ciphers and encryption algorithms will change unpredictably. This level is sufficient until 2030.

Maximum: Maximum classification is the highest level of classification available. It uses 3072-bit RSA encryption and multiple key ciphers that change unpredictably. It can provide protection past 2030.

Experimental: Currently not a fully recognized level, experimental denotes a category using 15360-bit RSA encryption and multiple key ciphers that change unpredictably. It is not in full operational use as of yet.

Subject: Type 38 Procurement
______________________________

Dear sir,

After the announcement that the current aging stock of destroyers in Cottish service are to be decommissioned, the Royal Cottish Navy have found itselves with a bit of a destroyer gap. Given the good experience we have with Beaufort Naval Industries in the past and the current stock of aircraft carriers serving with distinction in the ranks of the Royal Cottish Navy, we have decided to return to Beaufort Naval Industries for this very important contract.

Therefore, we wish to place an order for a total of seven hundred and twenty-four (724) Type 38 "Principal Destroyers". We do however have certain requirements for the armament of the vessels in question. First of all, we wish for the vessels to be delivered without their vertical launch cells, cannons and quad launchers, as we wish to place our indiginous systems aboard these vessels in their stead for compatability with the weapons used by the Royal Cottish Navy. We'd also like for the torpedo launchers to be omitted from the construction of these vessels, as the diameter for which they are configured is too small for the current ASW torpedo standard (324mm) that the Royal Cottish Navy operates.

Save for these requirements, we have no further demands for the vessels in question. However, we realize that these modifications are rather substantial, and we will therefore operate these vessels in Cottish service as the Type 38C class destroyer.

The total cost of these destroyers have been calculated to cost a total of $1.5204 trillion USD. If permitted, we wish to pay this sum in five equal annual payments of $304.08 billion USD in order to spare our economy unnecessary burdens. If permitted, the first payment will be transfered to your accounts upon confirmation of this order.

We thank you for your time, and hope for a swift and positive reply.

The Commonwealth of Tolvan wished to acquire production rights for the Questralia class cruiser (to be known in Tolvanic service as the Province class cruiser) and the Type 38 destroyer (to be known in Tolvanic service as the Battle class destroyer).

However, we wish to make a few modifications to the designs:

For the Questralia class:

Delete the Mk. 130 AShM launchers as current Tolvanic doctrine is incompatiable with such weapons
Replace the amidships Mk. 145 AShM launchers with a 16 cell domestically produced VLS for our existing Sea Pike AShMs
Replace with PDS.2 CIWS and Type 99 RAM launchers with the Tolvanic equivalents
Replace the forward LG.72 gun with the Tolvanic Mk. 160 155mm gun

For the Type 38 class:

Replace the amidships Mk. 56 AShM launchers and gun mount (OOC: not sure what size that on is) with a domestically produced 16 cell VLS for our existing Sea Pike AShMs
Replace the PDS.2 CIWS and Type 99 RAM launchers with the equivalent Tolvanic systems
Replace the forward LG.95 gun with the Tolvanic Mk. 160 155mm gun

In order to compensate you for any difficulties in making these changes possible we are prepared to pay the standard Licensing Fee of $8 billion for the Questralia class and $5 billion for the Type 38, as well as a bonus of $4.5 billion, bringing the total contract value to $17.5 billion.

RE: Warships

Greetings,

My country is facing very tense relations with a neighboring country over internal policy. It seems likely we will soon face invasion. With this in mind we would like to upgrade as much of our military as possible before that invasion takes place.

I have been granted funds by the National Assembly to purchase the following.

* 1 Unicorn Class LFC
* 1 Admiral Class SC
* 1 Questralia Class L/PC
* 1 Town Class AAWC
* 2 Type 38 Class Destroyers
* 2 Type 31 Class Destroyers

Regards,
Admiral Michael Fisk

TO: Beaufort Naval Industries
FROM: Lyran Governmental Trade Department

In accordance with developing and extant Lyran strategic maritime policy, the Protectorate is embarking on a fairly major equipment purchase, utilising a portion of the revenue raised through Lyran Arms. To that extent, to operate in conjunction with Longsword-class supercapitals, Hatchet-class frigates and Battleaxe-class gun-cruisers, the following vessels and weapon systems have been selected;

Admiral-class strike cruiser DPR (NS$10bn)
Town-class AAW cruiser DPR (NS$12bn)
Type 38 GP Destroyer (NS$5bn)
Type 31 ASW Destroyer (NS$10bn)
SS-N-45/60/77 AShM DPR (NS$135m)
SA.34F/38E DPR (NS$20m)

In addition to the above DPR purchases, the Protectorate of Lyras seeks the direct purchase of the following, so as to kickstart our modernisation programme, and ease the production load into the medium term.

3000 x Admiral-class cruisers (NS$10.5 trillion)
800 x Town-class cruisers (NS$3.2 trillion)
8000 x Type 38 destroyers (NS$16.8 trillion)
4500 x Type 31 destroyers (NS$6.75 trillion)

The total purchase, by our calculations, comes to a total of NS$37.287155 trillion, which can be paid immediately, for delivery in installments.

Should there be any questions pertaining to this, please do not hesitate to ask.

SANDAKAN CLASS BATTLECRUISER

Writeup:
A successor of the Admiral Class, the Sandakan Class is named after the capital of the Southern Provinces, and although slightly less capable than the Admiral in the surface to surface role, is capable of defending itself and its battlegroup, which will usually consist of another four of the type, from aerial threats. The Sandakan Class began production in the year of 1960 and production of the class was doubled under the re-armament program of 1963.

The Sandakan Class’s primary offensive weapon system is the GWS.80 cold launch vertical cells, which are rectangular with a length and width of a metre per side and a slanted depth of 11m which allows them to contain some of the most potent anti-shipping weapons on the market. 84 cells make up the total sum of the Sandakan’s GWS.80, an improved model used on the previous Admiral Class Cruiser to great effect. The GWS.80’s improvements come in the form of a more powerful ejection motor, which kicks the missile from the cell before the missile active its engine, and if the engine fails to active the missile falls into the ocean, rather than back down on the deck. It ought to be noted that anti shipping missiles designed to be hot launched – ie, those that use their own engine power to escape the ship’s vertical launch cells, will perhaps need modification before the GWS.80 can fire them.

In addition the Sandakan Class’s anti-shipping arsenal is complemented by two sets of box launchers, each with two quad boxes of the GWS.76 weapons system, a circular missile tube with a diameter of .75m and a length of 7m, capable of independently firing differently sized and configured weapons, resulting in a fully customisable weapons system for the purposes of not just anti-shipping but also anti-submarine missions with a load-out of AS.18S Sea Heron anti-submarine torpedo carrying missiles.

Furthermore, the Sandakan Class is equipped with a modern and accurate gun system, which consists of a pair of PWS.16 75mm 52 cal wing guns, port and starboard, and a single PWS.32 105mm 60 cal gun superfiring forwards, all controlled by the S.492 Targeting Director sensor series. Each 75mm gun is capable of 65rpm and is accurate out to a range of 13km and can elevate to engage aircraft and missiles at a height of 8,000m. The 105mm gun is accurate out to a range of 17km and can engage missiles and aircraft at the same height, with a rate of fire of 55rpm. This enables both guns to excel in the area of shore bombardment or last-ditch missile defence.

Defensively, two missile systems protect the Sandakan Class, and to preserve space, neither are vertical launch, but manage to carry a total of 334 surface to air missiles, a mix of the close range SA.34 and the long range SA.38. Missile systems are guided and targeted by the S.550 Medium Range General Search RADAR and detection is provided by the S.940 Long Range Large Volume Search RADAR. This allows for a long range detection of targets and preparation to lock and engage. It was agreed that a vertical launch system would be more efficient in the role of air defence, but the Sandakan Class is an anti-shipping platform and in any case, is not designed as an AAW picket.

The PWS.40P popup system is the short-range surface to air missile defence system employed by the Sandakan Class. Six launchers are fitted on the ship, and each launcher is capable of firing four missiles before it has to return to its magazine to reload. It takes twelve seconds for a 40P system to reload all four missiles and in total sixteen seconds for it to be once more ready to fire. The PWS.40P aquires illumination from the S.808E E-Band Targeting Array and acquires a firing solution from the S.102 Multirole Target Coordination and Relay Piece which provides networked firing solutions for 360 degree coverage of the ship and in tandem the two sensors, as well as the search radars, can track 460 targets and illuminate 50 for engagement. Targeting takes milliseconds and in a normal EW environment new targets will be locked and targeted by the time a missile has reloaded and often SA.34s fired from the PWS.40P launcher can be fired instantly, the launcher having received a firing solution while reloading. The PWS.40P, when firing the SA.34, has a maximum range of 70km and an engagement range of 55km.

The PWS.64 is a dual arm SA.38 launcher, which feeds from a partially splinter armoured magazine which holds 84 of the missiles. With a maximum range of 400km, the PWS.64 relies on the S.808K K-Band Targeting Array of the S.940 Long Range Large Volume Search RADAR for a longer ranged but less accurate target acquisition. However if the missile or aircraft is within 200km of the ship then the PWS.64 can receive a firing solution using the same methods the PWS.40P system does instead, for a more accurate lock. In fact it is not uncommon for the PWS.64 to track a target using the S.940 and S.808K system then switch to the systems used by the PWS.40P, the S.808E and the S.102, to achieve a firing solution.

For projectile point defence, the Sandakan Class is armed with two PDS.40 40mm six-barrel CIWS and two PDS.48 21-shot rolling airframe systems. The PDS.40 is capable of throwing out 5,000 rounds a minute and is guided by an I/K targeting radar with a range of 45km, which can simulatenously track 24 targets and lock them all by the time they are in range of the weapon’s 3,000 metre and 170 degrees engagement umbrella. The system can traverse 360 degrees in 3.5 seconds (or 170 degrees in 1.65 seconds) and takes 12 minutes to reload after it fires its 2,800 round magazine (33.6 seconds sustained fire). 20 magazines are held below deck and reloading is automatic and conducted by a popup system. The two systems on the Sandakan Class are mounted port and starboard. The weapon can fire sustained fire for its full magazine and cool each barrel collectively during reloading periods but this is not advisable.

The PDS.48 21-shot systems are mounted aft and both have a 200 degree angle of fire from the aft of the vessel, allowing them to engage targets coming head on from both starboard and port angles and of course aircraft from most directions. The PDS.48 uses the S.102 Multirole Target Coordination and Relay Piece to relay information from the ships main sensors to gather target information and can engage at a range of 8 kilometres, each missile having a speed of 500 m/s and a 10kg fragmentation warhead. The system can traverse 360 degrees in 5.5 seconds (200 degrees in 3.05 seconds)

The Sandakan Class is equipped with a full sensor suite, capable of all roles with its long range D/X band radar and E band radars. The S.333D D/X-Band Search Array has a maximum range of 625km for scanning large, fast, and loud targets, and its K-band assistant has an acquisition range of 350km. That said, the S.333D lacks precision and it is likely that until targets are acquired at 350km it will be impossible to determine what targets are. The E-Band radars are much smaller with a maximum range of 200km but are much more accurate.

A number of ESM and RWR antenna and systems dot the ship which ensure that if anything lights up, it will be detected outside of its own detection range. Furthermore, full satellite communications suites mean that the ships weapons and navigations systems can feed directly from satellites if necessary.

The Sandakan uses a conventional engine powered by eight Wilson-Blackburn superheating boilers, with steam provided at 425 degrees Celsius. The power from these boilers goes through four shafts which are powered by single-reduction geared turbines with electrical backup if necessary. Smoke leaves from a pair of smokestacks centreline and the propulsion provides 160,000SHP. Total fuel is carried in six compartments of 800 tons each which totals 4,800 tons of fuel. This provides a maximum speed of 34 knots and a maximum range of 11,000km. The Sandakan’s tunnel stern plus its bulbous bow provide a more streamlined hull, and two rudders assist with maneouvrability.

Tactically, the use of the Sandakan Class is to advance, supported by air superiority and in an anti-air umbrella, to a distance where it can engage via air surveillance enemy vessels with its main missile armament. The Sandakan Class is not a battleship that engages in line combat – she is a true ASuW Shooter.

Type 46 Parish Class Nuclear Destroyer [DGN]
History: The Type 38 Principal Destroyer had been dissapointing to the Royal Navy, and its construction lines were not even finished, although the vessel held an excellent export record. Firstly, its automation was particularly outstanding and crew quarters were not sufficient. Secondly sensors and armament were powerful but rather standard and not the top of the line that the R.N had come to expect. Also, her engine was particularly inefficient and was expensive in terms of fuel. These problems were considered not entirely important until a low-ranking naval officer sparked a Navy-wide debate about a Nuclear Fleet. After huge consideration and a massive support funding scheme from the Commons, it was decided that over the course of 35 years the Royal Navy would be converted to an all-nuclear navy. The Type 46 Parish Class, designed to replace the Type 38 is the first nuclear destroyer in the history of the Royal Navy, providing unlimited fuel range and 75 days of endurance.

Design: The ship's enclosed mast mirrors previous R.N designs used famously in the Mogami and Town Class Air Defence Cruisers. Inside the enclosed mast the S.105D system houses a D-Band Tracking and Acquisition R.A.D.A.R and an S band Volume Search R.A.D.A.R which work in tandem to provide 360 degrees coverage of the vessel. Together they can detect missiles and aircraft at a range of between 350 and 400km and can track up to a thousand targets at any one time. The Active Electronically Scanned Array nature of these R.A.D.A.R. means they are nigh on impossible to jam and can make their own attempts at electronic warfare, not that the ship already has a highly suitable E.W package for defence of a battle's cyberspace and for attacking missiles and aircraft and even ships.

The two missile batteries mounted centreline and fore represent the Parish Class's main punch. The fore battery of 16 Mk.930 cells each a square metre in diametre and 8.5 metres deep and cold launched can either quad-pack S.A.M.s or light A.Sh.M.s or single-store large A.Sh.M.s or weapons like the SA.18S Heron, meaning that the Parish Class can engage any target it is fitted to attack. The centreline are only appropriate for S.A.M.s, and can either quad-pack S.A.M.s like the SA.34F or single pack the much longer ranged SA.38E. Either way, the load-out of the Parish class can always reflect its role in an accurate and deadly manner typical of Questarian design.

The two MG-50 mounts on the rear, one starboard and one port flank the hangar exit. The MG-50 is a ubiquitous mounting that can use a variety of weapons for any role. These include:
Cannons: single/dual//triple, 55/45mm, 30/27/25mm, 20mm
Recoilless Rifles: 60mm, 80mm, 105mm
ATGMs: All ATGMs
Various Rocket Launchers
Mortars: 45mm, 60mm, 72mm, 80mm
Napalm Flamethrowers
Anti Sub: RBUs, Depth Charge Throwers
Machine Guns: 7.62mm chaingun, dual/quad 14.5mm/12.7mm
Torpedo Launchers: dual/triple 200mm
For aircraft and boats, it was decided that the hangar would house two large H.E.L.O.s - in the instance provided, a pair of Westland Supermarine Strongbow helicopters - and six deployable assault R.I.B.s that means the marine complement can attack shore or ship targets, and even extra marines can be embarked for these missions if neccessary. The H.E.L.O. complement and its aircrew also provides an air-subsurface contingent, which means that even if all weapons are tied up in anti-air and anti-ship duties the ship still maintains a sizable and notable anti-submarine presence, an important factor in its role of General Purpose. Torpedo launchers can lay mines, as can the Helicopters, which makes the vessel excellent in sea, subsurface, and air denial operations.

Agroprom Military Aquisition Board

Admiral Shevetsk Naval Aquisition Minister

Greetings,

The time has come for Agroprom to start building a coastal defence naval force. For the last few weeks, we have been investigating various options open to us, and have decided that various vessels you produce fill our capabilities. We first wish to thank you for putting such time, thought and effort into your products, and wish to work with you more in the future. This will hopefully be the first of two orders, military budget review pending.

We were also interested in investigating your payment options prior to sale. We were looking to pay over a 4 year period, at a constant rate. Is this acceptable?

On to the order. We are interested in:

Eight Type 46 Destroyers
Three Admiral Class Cruisers
DPR for SS-N-45 Heavy AShM

Once more, we thank you for your time.

Official Statement of the Free Republic of Kahanistan
Ministry of Defence

The Government of Kahanistan notes that Questers has distanced itself from our enemies in APOC and become once again a paragon of freedom and democracy. In the interest of warming relations, healing old wounds, and at the same time providing for our defence against opportunistic regimes, we would like to obtain 20 Sandakan class cruisers as a candidate for our major capital ship. The $120 billion USD will be wired upon your response.

At the same time, we desire to obtain DPR for the Sea Lion AShM (50 million), Sea Serpent AShM (50 million), Sea Scimitar light AShM (35 million), Sea Dagger light SAM (10 million), Sea Sabre heavy SAM (10 million), and Sea Heron ASM (10 million) for a total of $165 million for the listed DPR.

The total bill should arrive at $120,165,000,000 USD.

Signed,
Fleet Admiral Carl Jenkins,
