It was very exciting to be going to one of the richest City in world. Yes, at the airport, I could sense the richness in the atmosphere. We took a decent scroll around, and yes, be warned, if you come here watch how you are spending, you don't want to be buying too many overpriced stuff here, they really cost a ton. When we hit the road on our rented Mercedes, we rarely saw any trucks or lorries on the road, man this City is really rich. We drove around in the reasonably small city, it is very well preserved, even most of the buildings in the City are close to two hundred years old. People are very well dressed, in fact too well dressed. We stopped by at a restraunt which seems pretty popular due to the fact that its was pretty crowded. We sat down and looked at the menu, it was really shocking. Even in Kansiov City, the price wasn't this high. But when the meal came, you would forget all about the price tag, and yes, its really good. We met a guy called Doopnaam Poepjes. We toured us around the major landmarks and brought us to his home, where we stayed there for a night. Doopnaam Poepjes eanrs about $86,780 anually, which is about the average in the City, he owns a DvD shop near his house, and yes, the rents are very expensive. Hotels in the area are very expensive, we suggest if you want to come here, find a Country Inn in the outskirts of the City, its about $10 a night there and is still pretty easy to get back in. Overall Luxembourg is a pretty nice but expensive place to stay, and yes, its a good place to live in overall and the people are very friendly. If your'e wondering what you can do here, you can:

-Visit Museums
-Sight seeing
-Hit the road with your rented BMW in the AutoBahn

Kansiov City

(View of Kansiov City from N13 Highway)

Country: Kansiov
Population: 27,890,000
Capital:No
Founded:August 12, 1672
Temperatures:-40 - 32°C

History of City
The City was founded in 1672, the same year which Kansiov was founded. it had only a population of about 500. The founded Zamtov Kansiov named it, Kansiov's City, later renamed as Kansiov City. It became the Capital of Kansiov until 2002, when overcrowding became such an issue till the Government decided to reloacte to the newly built City of New Neglev. It is home to two Rival Football Clubs, Kansiov City FC and Kansiov United. In Communist times, Kansiov City was the pride of the Nation.

Safety
Kansiov City, like any other Kansiovian City, it has gangs controlling several parts of the City, although gang fights seldom take place in open streets. The Police prowl the streets and keep law and order in the City almost top notch. However there are several gang fights and armed robbery every month around the City, but it is generally safe in Kansiov City. The only major Armed conflict that took place on Kansiovian City is the siege of Crystal Jade Hotel, which about 100 lost their lives, between Proychnyain terrorists and Kansiovian Security Forces.

Enviornment
http://www.sgecr.co.uk/cagnola-park.jpg
(The 5 sq mile of Kansiov Castle Park is still
untouched by City life)

Due to the lack of funding by the Kansiovian Government, most of the streets are dirty. Pollution is also a major issue, there was an increase in the number of victims who suffer from lung cancer due to unclean air, from 83,000 to 97,000 in 2006 to 2007. However in the city, there are still 5 Major Parks which are more than 3 sq miles big. These however are getting overcrowded in weekends, but Kansiovians are able to get at least a feel of country life.

Standard of living
http://www.diversehamilton.ca/Pictures/russian_food.jpg

The Standard of living in Kansiov is very high. Renting a 3 Room flat could cost up to K$5,400 a month. Food prices in restraunts are very high as well, a meal as shown in the picture above, could cost up to K$13. Services such as plumbers and electricans also cost a ton. Yet despite all the high prices, the average GDP/c of a person in Kansiov City is only about $23,470 USD. This is mainly due to the big income gap and high inflation as a result from the economic explosions in the early 1990s after the fall of communism. Education is free, and cooking your own food rather than buying cooked food is as cheap as other low cost countries.

Healthcare
Healthcare in Kansiov City is top class. The Government also compensates almost 70% of the hospital/medical bill. Doctors in Kansiov are well known for their world-class skills. Hospitals are never overcrowded and the doctor to patient ratio in Kansiov City is 1:19. There are about 113 Government Hospitals in Kansiov, not including the private owned ones.

Landmarks

Museum of Fine Arts
http://www.saint-petersburg.com/images/museums/stroganov-palace.jpg

The Museum was formally the Palace where the Communist revolt began. 600,000 Gathered at the square outside the palace and stormed it, then it was the Mayor's House. Today, its a modern Museum featuring over 1,678 Art pieces, it has also 2 cafes.

St. Jasili Church
http://www.russia.com/images/gallery/church1-0.jpg

Home of the Orthodox Church in 1689 it was the seat of the Orthodox of Kansiov which fought a tiring 8 year war with the protestant church, in the War of the Kansiovian Churches. During the Communist Era, the church was abandoned, and was almost ordered to be set ablaze by the ruthless Timsko Yeremenko. Thankfully it survived, and now is the symbol of Kansiovian pride and glory during the early ages of the Nation.

Red Square
http://www.moscow-life.com/media/pics/red-square.jpg

In Communist times, the square was a symbol of pride in Kansiov. Troops marched in in the thousands, displaying the military might of the Kansiovian Army. Today it is used only for speical events like National Day.

Vitalità, ViZion
Population: 131,512
Capital: Yes

A Little About Vitalità:
Vitalità is Italian for vitality, and that defines this city like none other. Vitalità is world-renounced for its beauty, size, and safety. Located along the Atlantic Coastline in the southern half of Angola, it has some of the most amazing beaches, while the party scene for ViZionarians and traveller alike is beyond that of almost any city.

It is one of the more popular cities to visit, receiving about 4.1 billion visitors per year, and is home to some 130 million people at this time. To address the traffic issue due to its size, Vitalità boasts one of the worlds best, most efficient, and most advanced public transportation systems. It also has among the best road designs the world over. That, coupled with the immense size of the city itself lends to having traffic that is - even during rushhour - simply pleasant!

Safety:
Safety is of upmost importance here in ViZion. That does not stop at the city limits of our capital and largest city, Vitalità. As such, crime in this city looks like it is something from a much smaller city of a couple million

How so? ViZion has extremely strict punishments for crimes ranging from theft to murder. But that in not all. Some of the many factors include religious beliefs, moral beliefs, the excellent police force, and the fact that nearly every person over the age of 12 has at least one gun. All this, among other things, leads to this safety being possible.

Safe? Here's some statistics for you.

In the past twelve months:
Murders: 13
Rapes: 16
Assaults: 42
Armed robbery: 21

For a city of this city, crime like that is almost unheard of. Safe? You bet!

Standard of living
How does living in a villa or a world-class, ultramodern condominium sound? How about the worst part of town having above average incomes and crime that is equal to the best parts of town in most cities? If you're looking for standard of living, look no further. Rather you're looking to spend your days relaxing or partying on the beach, maybe enjoying the clubbing scene, or purhase chilling in one of the cities thousands of inside and outside lounges, you'll be set. Entertainment is no problem either. Sports, movies, parties, clubs, the beach, city-wide wifi; you simply cannot get bored in this city.

Got work or school and worried about rushhour? Don't! The public transportation system boasts the most advanced equipment, the highest comfort, and is raved about across the globe as 'Simply the best'. On time? How about early!

Environment
While this may be a megacity in every aspect, it could also be checked off as a wild-life preserve. This city is live with animals and greenery not rivaled by any city close to its size. Parks large and small sprinkle the city, as do actual wild-life preservations. Clean is not a word used to describe this city; crystal clear is.

Healthcare
Home to the International Medical Foundation and among the best medical facilities across the globe help to put Vitalità near the top of any city in this category. The best in healthcare blankets the city - no matter where you are, you will have access to the best of the best!

But it does not stop there! This city is also among the most active. Sports, cycling, triathlons, kayaking, rowing, running, surfing, swimming, hiking, working out; the active lifestyle here is simply unbeatable. The average male body fat in this city is just 12%, while for women its 14% - similar to that of elite athletes. Heart attacks are also down from the average as well - just 104 heart attacks were reported in the past 12 months.

There is actually no limit to the number of points you can have. It could go up to 200 if you can convience me that your City is really good. And also partly your stats from the NS Economy or NS Tracker would bring up your ranking as well. :)

Strator
17-11-2007, 15:05
City: A01
Country: Strator
Population: 102,783
Founded: April 20, 1931
Capital: Yes
Temperature: 14 degrees C all year round

Information on A01: The Main Government sector contains only the advisors, strategists and the offices of intel and transactions for the current most involved nations with Strator. A01 is on the ground on which the encampment of refugees cheered as Strator declared his nationstate back in 1931.

Safety: There have been 3 small riots/protests in A01 since the founding of Strator, but with a clamp down on groups larger than 3 traveling together and the expansion of strator outwards from A01 (and also the excessive brainwashing propaganda taking place), A01 is now 100% crime free.

Enviroment: within and bordering A01, there is no greenery or plantlife, all the streets and buildings are completely clean with no dirt or bugs anywhere in sight. The only problem with dirt is pollution from the far away industrial districts.

Standard of living: So long as you work hard enough not to get fired, basic and low quality room and board are completely free, although salaries are very low. If you do not have a job, most meals will cost over US$30 and hotel costs per night are up to $430 for a small room with a a toilet and sink in the corner.

Healthcare: basic healthcare is free if you have a job, but otherwise, it is extremely expensive and very hard to find.

The population is too small the be qualified a "City" It has to be at least 1 million.

Thats the closest to a city in strator, not the biggest, but the most citylike and nicest to live in, A01 is a district of a mega city which is "A", but it would be too complicated to describe "A".

Strator is a weird system to explain...

The whole area varies too much, even though "A" is pretty small, it is a very important part of Strator. "A" houses 56 million and contains the government, foreign relations and all of the largest law courts. But I guess all of "A" is pretty much the same as A01. Only G-Z vary greatly from "A". yeah, so just rate "A" the same as you would A01

The Imperial Arcologies of Èideann

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/Retro_1989/Bhujerba.jpg
View from the surrounding hills

Country: The Pictish Imperium
Population: 17,000,000
Capital: Parliamentary and Consular centre of the Imperium
Founded: 322 AD
Temperatures: 15 - 32˚ Celsius

History of City
In antiquity, the city was founded as an Imperial estate after the defeat of Rome in 322 AD, serving as a governmental base for the new Independent Pictish Empire. With the expansion of the government came the expansion of the complex, and soon the various palaces of Èideann housed councilors from all over Pictavia, eventually tunneling into the great caverns underneath the land. As pressure for defence increased throughout the Age of Blood, the natural caverns became small fortresses, housing the armies of the The Praetorian Guard. With soldiers came merchants, and with merchants came families, and soon the Palaces were semi-functional cities producing their own crops and children. By modernity, with the invasion of Pictavia by the British Empire, many sought to seek refuge within the natural walls of Èideann, expanding the complex even further, until by the dawn of the nineteenth century the city became a fully self-sufficient cluster of mostly subterranean arcologies. To this day, Èideann serves as the house of the Consul, the High Council and Parliament, in addition to providing shelter for a further seventeen-million citizens.

Civil Order
Known as the safest city of the Imperium, Èideann shares all of the policing benifits of the rest of Pictavia and more. The eternal presence of the Praetorian Guard accounts for most of the relative tranquility, as well as the rumors of the city being home to the officially undeclared Parliamentary Operatives. In addition to these unique assets, Èideann also operates with its own Citizen Protection (the regular police force), headed by Imperial Judges with the ability to sentence and execute any confirmed threats to the citizenship. Despite this, there is a thriving black-market within the arcologies, which is more or less commonplace among the rest of the Imperium. Seen as a viable method of importing and exporting goods illegally between settlement, it has never been disbanded by the Citizen Protection, reasons unknown.

Environment
The city is undoubtedly the crown-jewel in the Imperium. During the last ice-age, a volcanic eruption tore the region apart, peppering the land with vents of various intensity. The silt hurled into the air by the eruptions was mixed with dense superheated precious metals thickening the substance, and eventually cooled in their upright positions, forming colossal spikes of glass and metal stretching from the sky well into the earth. Due to the illegal expansion of the city into the ground, so as to not be noticed by the palaces built around the spires, the vast majority of the city is subterranean, thus maintaining the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The pro-environmental nature of Pictavia ensures a protected and vibrant wildlife within the palace gardens, enjoyed by all.

Standard of living
Èideann is home to the most wealthy syndicates in the Imperium, as living-space around the palaces becomes ever-more scarce. Thus, the standard of living is relatively higher than in comparison to the rest of Pictavia, even with small living-quarters. This does, however, make the city extremely expensive to visiting tourists, who will be charged extortionately for what may be seen as a standard sized room, even with the extravagant decor.

Healthcare
All necessary healthcare is completely free and well-funded by the Imperium's extremely high rates of tax. Ensuring that foreigners have the relevant travel-insurance or funds to reimburse the Imperial Health Centre then they are treated as Imperial citizens. Should they not have the appropriate methods of payment then their nation of origin will be billed for their healthcare, with the methods of obtaining such a value upto said state.

Striking Features
Quite obviously, the glass spires themselves. Reaching between one-hundred and two-hundred feet above the ground, they are the most prominent spectacle in the surrounding area. At the base of the spires themselves are the various palaces of the Imperium which also serve as hubs for the arcologies underneath. Below ground, the large caverns, hollowed out by ancient volcanic activity are awash with inexpensive yet dazzling metals which adorn the walls. The prevalence of natural springs adds to the luminosity of the algae that cover the structures of the arcologies, absorbing what light they can gain in an faint blue-green glow.

Country: Van Luxemburg
Population: 724,892
Capital: Yes
Founded: 1141
Temperatures: ranging from minus 7°C to 28°C

History

Luxembourg was the second city to be founded on the continent of Van Luxemburg, and was named in honour of the background of the Van Luxemburgian settlers. Luxembourg has always been the center of the Grand Duchy, and it's rich history of many visitors and inhabitants have made it an interesting historical city. While most of the older traces of Luxembourg have slowly vanished since the Renaissance, the buildings built during these ages are very imposing and amazingly well-decorated constructions. A city wall remains, even though parts of it have been torn down to construct roads and waterways. This means that Luxembourg is a city with two faces: One of it is the rich historical value of it's center, and the other are the monstrous villas and palaces outside the city, mostly in the rich neighborhood of Grünewald.

It has housed the Palace of the Grand Duke since 1145, even though many of the buildings have been demolished an rebuilt. The current palace dates from 1901 and is one of the largest buildings in Luxembourg. The Palace can be visited on the Boulevard 5. Mee 1945, a road which cuts through the city as a wide, green and open road, connecting all major governmental buildings, and some embassies.

Over the years, Luxembourg has attracted many wealthy persons, which lead to a fight over who could build the most beautiful and largest palace for himself. This makes Luxembourg the City of Castles, Palaces and Wealth. The construction fight between Georg Walter and Grand Duke Godefridus was the reason that the current Grand-Ducal Palace was constructed, after which Georg and Godefridus made peace and promised to stop the construction of even larger houses. This is generally considered the end of the Palace era of Luxembourg, since little castle and palace-like villas have been built since.

Safety

Luxembourg is the only city to be patrolled by two separate law enforcement agencies: both the Police Grand-Ducale (under the Ministry of the Interior) and the Grand-Ducal Marechaussee (under the Ministry of Defence) patrol the city. In case of national emergencies, highly-trained troops of the Garde Grand-Ducale (the Grand Duke's personal military unit) can also take part in guarding the city or assist in special situations.

Overall there is little crime in Luxembourg. While police responds to minor affairs such as theft or social problems on a daily basis, the city is mostly clear of major crimes. Due to the position of Van Luxemburg as an automobile-loving nation, Police units usually are equipped with expensive vehicles, produced domestically. A notable special unit is the Autobahnpolizei, which differs from the Kommunalpolizei (Local Police) in objectives and equipment, as they patrol the motorways in sportscars prepared for the task of policing the high-speed Autobahn of Van Luxemburg.

Environment

Luxembourg is a green city, and since the inner city has been mostly rebuilt i the Renaissance, the people have included large amounts of green in the city. Parks surround the larger villas and palaces, while citizens living in the larger buildings (converted into apartments) can enjoy several green city parks. Outside the city, Grünewald is a more exclusive neighborhood, which consists of large villas, castles and palaces being constructed on large plots of land, surrounded by forests.

Public Transport in Luxembourg mainly consists of electric metro and tram sets, while the Luxembourg Transport Society (LTS) have recently participated in a large acquisition porgramme for VLTC C-5 'Ascendance' buses, which are powered by electricity and biodiesel. This limits pollution, even though a lot of inhabitants prefer taking the car when they have to cover larger distances. Other possibilities are by foot or by bicycle, since Luxembourg has a large network of asphalted or paved cycling and walking ways.

Standard of living

Due to the presence of the expensive neighborhood of Grünewald, the average income of an inhabitant of Luxembourg is $74,781, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, This includes notable citizens such as Nicolas Hirtz (Premier of Luxembourg, annual income of $500,000), many ministers (Annual incomes of $250,000), Markus Walter (Annual income of $2.5 million). Not included is Grand Duke Koen van Luxemburg, who has an annual income of more then $1 trillion USD.

This also increases the prices and quality of goods in Luxembourg. While it depends on the quality rating of the restaurant one goes to, it is possible that bills ranging from $50-$5,000 per person, for a complete dinner. (The latter being in Restaurant Le Palais Royaume on the Boulevard 5. Mee 1945, housed in the former alternative residence of the Grand Duke. This is generally considered to be one of the best restaurants in Van Luxemburg) Lower prices ($15 for a complete four course dinner is possible) can be found across the city, but these restaurants are not likely to be rated 4 stars or above by the Association Culinaire of Van Luxemburg.

Renting a house is not common in Luxembourg, but prices of $1500 are the average for a 3-room apartment in one of the many residential buildings in the Inner City. Buying a house is more common, with the average price for the same apartment being $200,000. Residences in Grünewald average a good $1.5 million, with the most expensive houses costing around $50 million. For a hotel, one has to expect prices starting from $10 a night for a one-star hotel (outside the city, most likely in one of the smaller towns surrounding the city) to $1000 for a junior suite in Hotel L'Esplanade.

Healthcare

Luxembourg has three main hospitals, not counting the smaller private clinics. One of the main hospitals is the Luxembourg Universitary Medical Center, which is generally considered to be one of the best hospitals in Van Luxemburg. It can perform complex operations with the newest technology around, and has a capacity of around 5500 beds. It is categorised as a Trauma Centerm, and therefore has three Mobile Medical Teams (each consisting of a helicopter for distant rapid deployments and a special ambulance for close-by rapid deployments) available. The other two main hospitals are considerably smaller, with each offering a capacity of around 2000 beds. Van Luxemburgian health insurance consists of a minimal annual payment of $1000, and can be amended by several additional insurances (for dentist care, etc.) When one visits a hospital as a Van Luxemburgian citizen for healthcare (operations, consults, medicines), this is covered by insurance. This may not apply to private clinics, however.

Landmarks

Museums

Luxembourg has many museums, of which the most interesting have been submitted to form a short list of what to see

Ofcourse, one would need to visit the Museum for National History, which offers a nice view of what Van Luxemburg has become throughout the years. This is supported by important relics, such as equipment that the first inhabitants of Van Luxemburg took with them, as well as a 500-year old crown used by Grand Dukes until 1912.
Another interesting semi-museum is the showroom of the Van Luxemburgian Classic Preservation Fund, where the Fund showcases a variety of classic cars, most for sale, accompanied by a small selection of cars from the Grand-Ducal Garage. These vehicles are not for sale, but are counted amongst the most rare and special cars in the world.
The Courtemanche Museum for Modern Art showcases the modern art that Henry Courtemanche (1856-1919, Founder of Courtemanche Automobiles S.A.) collected in his lifespan. After his death, most was donated to a fund for a modern art museum in Luxembourg. The museum was named in honour of him.

Vault 10
17-11-2007, 17:44
Nation: Vault 10
City: Den
Population: Unknown, but falling
Significance: Rectum of the Universe
Average income: 70 meth dozes per week

When one asks what to avoid in Vault 10, he's told three things: Radiation, bandits, and Den.

Formed 31 year ago from a bandit camp near an old car junkyard, the rectum of the Universe, otherwise known as Den, has never seen good times. 10 years ago, around the times of the Arroyo Renaissance, there seemed to be a chance for some civilization, but it was lost as an unknown gang wiped out the Betty Casino and the slave traders took control.

Six years ago, after capturing into slavery a Vault City citizen, Den narrowly avoided destruction, breaking the hopes of most. As the Geneforge NLC agents, sent to free the citizen, scouted the city and learned that there wasn't a single person there who wasn't a drug addict, a criminal or a slave, a squadron of heavy bombers was sent by Aerospace Logistics to level it to the ground. A massive pacifist hippie protest, which the National Rifle Association of Vault 10 failed to stop in time, however, caused ALC to recall the bombers.
One of them, damaged by the missiles Den slavers got from New Reno, didn't receive the order cancellation due to the radio malfunction, and carried on its mission. A nuclear bomb, blowing apart the car junkyard, covered Den in denser fallout, and the only church in town, long converted to a meth lab, was destroyed by another bomb, leaving the city without even the traces of the early attempts to be anything better.

Soon, recognizing that the town can't be left as it is, ALC installed automated turrets at 25km from Den, to fire without warning at anything attempting to travel outside, unless confirmed by the officers to be a slave.

The few landmarks in Den are:
* Slave camp - half a square mile of land surrounded by two barbed wire fences, containing pens with slaves waiting to be traded, is possibly among the largest slave camps in the civilized world (which Disland and Strator aren't a part of).
* Junkyard - being the dump for all non-recyclable car parts since Vault-Tec enacted the Car Ban eleven years ago, the Den Junkyard turned out too large to be destroyed even by the nuclear bomb, and still insults the eyes of anyone unfortunate to see it with disfigured pieces of scrap. Remains of over a hundred million vehicles are piled around.
* Drug Market - while even in New Reno heroine, meth and Jet are traded with some discretion, in the two square mile Drug Market the pushers and pimps shout each louder than the other, selling drugs of all kinds, prostitutes and slaves.

Den is notable as the only town in Vault 10 to have no electricity. Before the bombardment, two buildings had gasoline generators, but both shortage of gasoline and preoccupation with drugs convinced the owners to switch to torches. Had Den been built denser, fires would have long freed the world from it. But, buildings and shacks being far apart in part because of old ruins, in part trying to hide from stray bullets from constant shootouts, fires had nothing more to consume in between in this forsaken and burnt place.
Water pumps, sewers, and other amenities, of course, have never even visited Den, desert around giving enough place for a dump.

Still holding, to common dismay, Den remains a place even large companies plan to ever touch only with bombs, and hopefully eventually will.
Vitolia
17-11-2007, 17:52
Bellevue; Largest City; Population: 601,434
Safety
Bellevue, being Vitolia's largest and fastest growing city, has recently seen a rapid growth in its police force as well as its military checkpoints. As such, Bellevue continues to have a crime rate that is well below average. Larger crimes such as murder and rape are unheard of thanks to severe punishments.
Standard of living
Bellevue, having the majority of Vitolia's largest companies, is exceptionally well off. As such, beachside condos rising 40 stores is a common sight, while the innercity is kept clean by the people themselves and the cleaning crew. Bellevue's low-rent neighbor, Arlington, also has taken away Bellevues slums, thus leaving an almost completely city-wide upper class.
Environment
Bellevue is a coastal city. Beautiful sunsets along the Atlantic, hot golden sandy beaches loaded with the springbreakers tanning and swimming by day and partying by night are key points to its environment. However, the lush vegetation thats allowed to grow throughout the city help to highlight its environmentally-friendly setup.
Healthcare
Vitolia does not subsidize healthcare. None the less, due to all the assistance given to us when we entered the international scene, coming out of being an isolationist paradise, we already have world-class medical facilities throughout the city on multiple levels. This is also leading some of our top entrepreneurs and doctors to work with some in Flaming Souls to begin working on a new global medical organization that can aid those in times of war and peace when and where needed.
Vitolia
17-11-2007, 17:54
Village of Vitolia; Capital; Population: 3,238
Safety
The Village of Vitolia, with just over 3,000 people and given it is the capital of Vitolia, safety is quite unrivaled by any city. In the past year, there has been a single pety theft, whom was quickly caught and punished. Crime is non-existant.
Standard of living
Once again, this is our capital city. Half of those living within the village are government employees and officials. As such, the standard of living is exceptionally high, well beyond the majority of cities or towns across the globe.
Environment
Located several miles inland, this small village is filled with the lush vegetation that carpets this inland region. Most of the buildings have not been touched - beyond basic necessities - for over three hundred years. However, there was recently a new capital building built. None the less, the environment - not the buildings - dominates the scene here.
Healthcare
With a single medical facility, one may wonder how healthy the Village of Vitolia can be - until they are reminded of the small population, world-class staff, and who live within the village. Healthcare is not a problem.
Neo Tyr
17-11-2007, 18:20
Easterling
[img=http://marineresearch.ca/hawaii/wp-content/uploads/city.JPG]

Country: Neo Tyr
Population: 44,890,000 (Inflated due to refugees)
Capital: No
Founded: June 2, 1525
Temperatures: -20 - 29°C

- History of City -

Settled in 1525 by the enterprising Nichole Vander-Horn, Easterling (Locals would point out that it is pronounced 'Easter-LINE'), was originally a trading outpost in the newly discovered Tyrinian Archipelago. It remained the fiscal and cultural capital of Neo Tyr until the revolution in 1784. Afterwards, its importance was eclipsed by the new cultural capital, Dronor, and the economic hub of Kyrall.

Regardless, it has been a rather successful city, mainly under the influence of Great House Kajar. It developed as well as any other city until the Undercity Development Project, where scenic, undeveloped lands held by House Ross meant that the undercity was particularly poorly developed.

Easterling took on a whole new significance during the Neo Tyr War. With Kyrall literally wiped off the face of the earth, many refugees fled to Easterling, which was occupied by Dyellian forces, some of who were sympathetic to the Tyrinian situation. Consequently, Easterling has had the least infrastructural damage of any city during the war.

- Safety -

Organized crime has always had deep roots in Easterling. The Fontis Tong controls the docks, however, their practices have done much to weed out murderers and thugs. There is some Syndicate activity; however the blood feud between the Tong and the Syndicate means that few people on the outside of the conflict are ever harmed. Away from the docks, Easterling is still one of the safer cities to live in.

- Environment -

The island Easterling is situated upon is unique because a remarkable 15% of it is undeveloped. Run by House Ross, there are actually fields and forests, which normally are only found in the Northreach district. The city is as clean as a harbor town can be, although a weakened government means that the formerly strict pollution laws have been bent in recent years.

- Standard of living -

Life in Easterling has been shaken up in the previous two years. While it used to be somewhat expensive place to live, the colossal influx of refugees has made prices drop significantly. While luxury still does exist where one looks for it, the traveler on a budget can certainly get by as well.

- Healthcare -

The government pays for no health care coverage, with exceptions for Kyrall refugees. The quality of services vary from mediocre to above average, however, it should be noted that all of Easterling's hospitals are all fully modernized, with fully trained medical personnel.

- Landmarks -

The Ross Estate is said to rival the Ancestral Households of the Great Houses. The public is now invited to tour its gardens and its fields, many of which are said to be some of the most beautiful in the archipelago.

Easterling also houses Neo Tyr's largest cathedral, St. Mark's, which has long been seen as a cultural treasure. It retains its original stained glass windows, as well as the statues of saints that line the entrance.
Soviet Houston
17-11-2007, 18:22
Kal-El Memorial City is the largest city on Soviet Houston (notice I said ON, not IN, because Soviet Houston is a planet, not merely a country), with a metropolitan population of nearly 110 million. It was formerly called Madckor, but was renamed in honor and memory of Superman (whose Kryptonian name was Kal-El), who perished at the hands of the now-defunct General Zod, who has since been punished for this and other crimes against humanity, and no longer has any superpowers he can use to terrorize mankind.

Kal-El Memorial City's crime rate, overall, is relatively low, but like most big cities, it has its bad neighborhoods, but the local government has recently boosted police funding and built extra stations in these bad neighborhoods, and crime recently has begun to drop in many of these areas of the city.

Healthcare is excellent, but somewhat expensive, but better than under the reign of the cruel General Zod, when it was almost non-existent and expensive. Soviet Houston government recompenses poor people for 70% of their hospital expenses, 50% for the middle class, but has recently begun shifting funding away from remedial healthcare, focusing instead on preventive healthcare.

Food prices have fallen recently, but are still relatively high. A 12 ounce can of Coke costs, on average, about US$1.50. A pound of ground beef, at the time of this posting, typically sells for roughly US$3.25.

The environment is excellent on Soviet Houston as a whole, but less than ideal in most of the huge cities, Kal-El Memorial City being no exception. Many local governments of these cities have begun campaigns to plant more trees inside their cities' limits, and have built more and bigger parks, and have imposed pollutant restrictions on some industries.

The temperature on Soviet Houston ranges from -40 degrees C in at the poles in the winter to roughly 50 degrees C at the equator in the summer. 20 degrees C is typical year-round for Kal-El Memorial City.
Bergelland

Swansea
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee33/bergelland/800-P1000425.jpg
The Knights' Hill neighborhood in Swansea, a typical Bergian neighborhood.

Country: Bergelland
Population: 24,890
Capital: Yes
Founded: 22 BCE
Average Temperature: 8°C

History
Swansea was originally founded by members of the White Wolf Clan, who moved to the island following a vision by one of its leaders, Karen, who was later found to be the reincarnation of Princess Luna, the first daughter of Gaia. After the migration, in the year 22 Before Common Era, the Clan settled initially on Swindon, on the East coast of the island. One day, however, as the newly proclaimed Princess Karen was working on the crops outside the small settlement, she saw a small energy ball flying to the hills up river, she ran after it until she reached a small river rapid, where Gaia herself was waiting for her. The Mother told her about the ancient story of that place and its special properties. Karen then decided to found a new city there, from where she and all the princesses that would come after her would reign over their blessed land.

Public Safety
Crime, especially youth related, is practically unknown, thanks in large part to its large police force, but also to its educational system. The Civil Protection Service, the Bergian equivalent of a police force, can be seen in almost every corner, on both foot and mobile patrols. There is the usual domestic disturbance, here and there, but most of the time, the agents don’t have much work to do. The five Civil Protection Posts around the city have registered only 4 crimes in the last 12 months. A Royal Protection Service guards and patrols public buildings and temples.

One of the perks of the Bergian public safety system is the use of subcutaneous RFID tags as tracking devices. Every citizen has one implanted on the back oh his/her neck at the age of 10, and foreigners receive a special RFID wristband that cannot be removed while on the country.

The Fire and Rescue Service is also very efficient. With 12 stations scattered across the city, they are proud to claim a 2-minute response time to any emergency within the city, including its outer perimeter. Helicopters are available for forest fire fighting and medevac as needed.

Environment
Swansea is a true green city. Like all other Bergian cities it is almost completely integrated to the local environment. The air is very clean, since there are little polluent emitters in the city and its outer perimeter. The sewer system dumps the triple treated waste on the ocean hundreds and miles away from the city through underground and submarine pipelines. The waste is treated many times to make sure that it will not negatively affect the ecosystem. The city also saves electricity by making extensive use of daylighting.

Public Transport
The public transport network in Swansea, and through the whole country, is very extensive and integrated. Electric trains and trams are the most common forms of transportation, tough there are also urban minibus lines serving many areas of the city. These minibuses only use biodiesel as fuel, contributing to the maintenance of low levels of air pollution. Surprisingly, there is no underground train system. The entire system uses a highly efficient and integrated electronic ticketing system with smart contactless cards, knwon in Swansea and Swindon as the SwanPass or more frequently, the S-Pass. A one-day pass costs around C$2.00, while a single-trip ticket costs C$0.35.

Standard of Living
The living standards are average, but are getting better every day. Everything is cheap and readily accessible by most people. A complete traditional meal, consisting of poutry, gravy and a mix of vegetables, can be bought for as little as C$5.00 (crowns) or around U$3.15. There are many craftspeople in the city, selling everything from hand made carpet to carved wood figures and jewelry, usually for low prices, rarely if ever reaching C$15.00. Schools are public and are open from 7AM to 7PM, tough there is a modest yearly student fee, which can be subsided by the Royal Board of Education.

Bergian neighborhoods are very suburban-like and have a close community feeling. It is not uncommon for people to have community festivals through the year. Since the border opening, some people have been offering rooms for tourists with one meal for around C$6.00 a day.

Healthcare
There are four main hospitals in Swansea, all of which are a semi-private. The Royal Hospital of Swansea-Swindon is the largest in Bergelland and is located roughly halfway between the cities of Swansea and Swindon. It has it’s own train station, and is considered the best hospital in the country. Like most hospitals, it is owned by the government, but operated in a private-like scheme. All citizens must pay for health insurance, which costs around C$3,000 a year.

Land Marks
The Swansea Castle
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee33/bergelland/castle_swansea.jpg
It is one of the many large castles in Bergelland. It was built in 1036 and It is the birth place of the modern Bergian Land Army. The castle is built on top of a hill overlooking the entire city of Swansea. It is still home to the National Land Army Headquarters, and to the 1st Infantry Division. Parts of it are open to public visitation daily. The Royal Museum of The Armed Forces is also located there.

The Royal Palace of Swansea
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee33/bergelland/royal_palace_of_swansea.jpg
It was built in 1652 to serve as the main residency for the Princess, her consorts (all female) and her handmaids. Females are allowed on its hollowed grounds. It has a huge garden, publicly open (again, to females only), that is known for its beautiful sculptures and landscaping.

The Grand Royal Temple of Gaia
This is the largest Bergian Temple ever built. Due to the nature of the rituals taken place there it cannot be photographed, it is, however one of the most beautiful places in the city. It resembles a Greek temple in its architecture, consisting of a large circular room with projecting walls framing a porch facing the a specific spot in the night sky, known to the Bergians as the Home of Gaia. The ceiling has a large circular opening, allowing for the sun and moon lights to illuminate the temple. On the center of the temple lies a big statue of Gaia, made of pure marble, with diamond eyes. It was built approximately in 3BCE. It also has an enormous garden around it.

The Sacred Garden of Swansea
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee33/bergelland/sacred_garden_swansea.jpg
Built in 3BCE in honor to the Great Mother, Gaia. It is one of the most beautiful places in Swansea. It has a calm atmosphere and it is not unusual to see High Priestesses and other people performing rituals here. The original rapids where Princess Karen met Gaia is located on it center. The Garden is also home to a 18,000 year old tree and to a 2,000 year old Bergian Maple Tree.

These are just the three more important landmarks in the city. There is a total of 6 castles and medieval fortresses in the Greater Swansea area alone.
Antigr

(No pics, sorry)

AUSTON

Country: Antigr
Population: 20,782,903
Capital: Yes
Founded: 5th March 1790
Temperatures: 19-35°C in high summer

History

Antigr is only three centuries old, and Auston is a comparatively new city, being founded in 1790 by a man called Jack S. Auston, to which the city gets it's name.
It started off as a three-house hamlet, but was quickly turning from a hamlet to a village to a market town to a full-blown town, thanks to it's wide beach expanses, good for camping on and setting up amenities, especially as some parts haven't been reached by the tide in a long time. Permanently dry sand.

These were along the straights of the Dessenport River, around which docks quickly grew, the city's bay providing deep water for huge ships but unfaltering shelter, thanks to the hills around it onto which Auston expanded onto in 1856, giving rise to a population of around 80000. So well-loved was the location, river, hills, and forest around it that population swelled to about 105000 the next year. From then it just kept growing in size and population, reaching a hefty figure of 1 million by 1870, and by the turn of the century there was five times this figure. It grew and grew to what it is today, a city of 20 million.

Safety

This is at least one area in which Auston excels. Antigr is, in general, near-as-makes-no-difference crime-free, and Auston actually improves on that.

There is a neighbourhood watch group in every residential neighbourhood, given special powers by police to restrain suspects - up to a point - until a police officer arrives.

The city is patrolled by the New Dessenport State Police, the Auston County Police, plus the local sheriffs. You could expect to find a police officer on every major street. Even in the suburbs, a squad car or police officer is never more than two and a half minutes away at maximum, not including remote farms and such.

The military in Antigr is big, and is regularly seen in almost all towns or cities that have a barracks within 50 miles. They are treated and treat others, including civilians, as peers, and are frequently seen doing anything a civilian would do on a regular day. They have almost as much presence as the police, but are not overbearing or threatening in any way. If a lone tank passes you in the street, it's probably some squaddies going off to a cafe or something like that. Surprisingly, it has one of the biggest military presences in all Antigr, yet soldiers are generally friendly, respectful towards you, and easily approachable. They are like unnoficial police officers, and can arrest people and drag them down to a police station. By regulations, they shouldn't do that, but they do behave like police and are a great help to everyone.
Friendly soliders roaming around a city up to no mischief whatsoever? You heard it here first.

The New Dessenport and Auston Fire and Rescue is a large force, and have a total of 54 stations around New Dessenport State, Auston's state.

They run a program with the Auston Ambulance Service that takes advantage of firefighters' medical training, which is that if a Fire Engine is nearer to a 555 call - the equivalent to a 999 call in britain or a 911 in america - than an ambulance is, they will respond as well and will be already administering medical treatment by the time the ambulance arrives.

Antigr's health services are the best in the region - Auston has a total of 13 major hospitals and a number of clinics, all of which operate ambulances. Even the smallest cottage hospital or community clinic has a regular ambulance allocated to it, crewed by three or more fully-trained Ambulance Service personnel. 1-Crew Ambulance Service rapid-response cars are very commonly seen in the city too.

Enviroment

Auston grew up as enviromentally sound - some parts of it were clearly more beautiful than others. Almost all of Auston's factories are in the south, just before the river tails off in another direction. This is where most of the industrial seaports lie. However, filthy factories have been demolished and replaced with either more appealing factories with significant filth-reducng measures or 'high-tech' industry, the likes of software companies and such.

The hills on which west Auston lie are certainly some of the most enviromentally stunning in the entire country. Here in the suburbs, there are very few beuildings that lie above ten storeys and trees are planted just about everywhere - this is because this area was built on the clear plains created by the citie's wood needs, and the soil is perfect for tree growth, and the wind scatters seeds all over this densely wooded wonder.

A lot of Antigr's wildlife lovers almost fight for properties there every year, and the temperature range is quite irrespective to the wildlife there - even in the semi-tropics, the city still enjoys the likes of more cold-climate animals such as squirrels and owls.

Almost the entire city is powered by a clean hydrogen power station in the north or the solar complex in the southeast. A lot of solar panels and other things to save resources have been fitted on rooftops of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings of all sorts thanks to a documentary 'blitz' on the waste of city resources.

There is still a mixed trash-and-coal-fired power station in the south, but this is in the industrial area and contains many pollution-reducing features or the latest from the city's enviromental council labs. It handles the majority of the city's waste.

Living Standards

Are generally rated as good. The Antigran magazine, Suburbs and the City, gave Auston a 9.5 out of 10 rating for family wellbeing on average, and a large social safety net protects the unfortunate.
Taxes are generally high, but no-one complains as every tax rise in the last century has seen at least two public services give it back to the public in care, security, and welfare. And anyone on low-income status can get significant tax cuts if approved by a Social Welfare worker.

As such, a lot of basic services in Auston, such as a medical checkup, the widely-used and loved tram network, to name but a few. Also free is entrance to the city's many landmarks to citizens with a green permit, which every Antigr-born citizen is issued with automatically and migrants who have lived in Antigr for ten years recieve as an update to their blue permits, which state that the holder is foreign but are a higher status than fresh refugees or immigrants.
Some parts of Auston, where tolls are required to enter, are free to cyclists.

The average person's income per annum is 150000 Marcs, or 50000 American Dollars, or 25000 GBP (Approx.). A healthy figure.

House prices and such are cheaper than average, and about 30% cheaper than an average european equivalent.

A large municipal services department ensures that the streets are clean and the policemen gleam.
There are almost no slums in central Auston.

Anyone who's anyone has a boat, and the Marina that houses them all is a must-see. It has a museum, commercial centre, and boat registration facilites.

Healthcare

As explained in 'safety', the ambulance service is pretty much second to none.
Rather than go through that article again, we'll go on to focus first on the healthcare benifits to the average person. Any hospital operation done on the FNHS (Federal National Health Service) is free, except for the most complex and extraordinary operations, to which a small price is added. This is taken away if you have a job or are on low income status.

All major hospitals have an ambulance garage, and the smaller ones are supported by standalone ambulance garages which support two or three small hospitals within five miles.

Private healthcare is usually seen as much better in quality, but very few people in Auston opt for this because of the excellent healthcare standards.

Features and Landmarks

One of the most notable features in Auston is Kensington Hall, the presidential office and 'pentagon' equivalent rolled into one.

It is huge, mostly white, and has a large glass and stone dome in the centre. It has a small museum and a huge solid marble memorial outside, which has a statue of a Soldier with his rifle, and the names of all the losses on both sides in the 1947 Antigran Civil War.

The wide beaches of northern Auston are a must-see - just like in any holiday advert, with sun-bathed white sands and a large promenade, booming with all manner of historic restaurants, hotels, and cafes. It is a favourite romance spot, with the sands and the beautiful sunsets.

Another must-see is the Memorial War building on Ducarter street, one of the poshest avenues in Auston. It is a large stone structure, and inside is a museum and a huge memorial in several pieces - mostly plaques with the dead from almost every war in Auston history.

Two huge towers dominate the skyline - the Estrona twin towers, 103 storeys with an amazing dome-like tower finishing off the top. They were fitted with radar linked to an Air force supercomputer to warn of incoming aircraft, as they blended into the sky perfectly at night and the Air Force base at western New Dessenport was given the tasks of keeping commercial airliners clear.

Corona park in Central Auston is surrounded by landmarks - Kensington Hall, the Defence Department building, the historic Vicstrom Hotel, and many skyscrapers.

It has a commercial center around it, it's own tramway linked to the main city tram system, trees and ponds galore, and a heaven for photgraphers.

Also worth seeing is the Presidential Guard outside Kensington Hall, a regiment dedicated to defending the Hall and Central historic Auston. They put on a parade thrice every 12 hours, and a detachment of 200 men are standing sentry at any one time.

Auston is home to the New Dessenport State Fair, which is held twice anually in East Auston, and the Vita Island theme park is open 9am 'til 10pm on Vita island, a little island in the middle of the river.

The Antigran culture has a large focus on music, of all sorts, and just about every street in Central Auston has a person with a instrument playing. it really adds to the city's atmosphere, and is quite reassuring after a long day's work.

A lot of Antigr is Buddhist, and the 7 huge monastaries and temples are a place you'll never forget.
Skibereen
17-11-2007, 18:55
Country: The Armed Republic of the Three Isles of Skibereen
Population: 8,000,000,000+
Capital: New Dublin(City For Consideration) Pop: 100,000,000 +/- 5%
Founded: 1056 AD
Average Temperature: 20C(68F)

History
Skibereen was founded over one thousand years ago by Gaelic and Norwegian explorers who accidentally stumbled across the land mass in Antarchon. Over the years the Irysh-Finegall as they came to be known developed a small nation centered around the welcoming of travelers and expelled peoples from all over the world have found their way to Skibereen. Having large populations of natives of the Indian subcontinent and of Black Africans influencing the development of Skibereen in 16th and 17th centuries. With also Dommani influence, the influx of Macabeean immigrants, trade with Mass Pawnage, and Questarian Empire created over those early years a tremendous cultural mix in Skibereen the likes of which is rarely seen anywhere else.

Safety
The safety of Skibereen to the tourist has often come to question. With few laws Skibereen statistically has very low to non-existant crime, this however is outside the fact that striking another person and even killing them is often times completely legal and in many cases expected. This however is slightly twisted by outside speculation, the Skibereenian Blood Honor system specifically allows for the excuse of ignorance. Tourists are not held to the same standards of Honor of locals. In that, it is considered an obligation of Blood Honor to protect the innocent and welcome the weary(travelers/strangers/enemies). Making Skibereen perhaps the most welcoming nation in the world and its Capital of New Dublin even more so.

Environment
New Dublin like all cities in Skibereen were built on the model of "Zero Sprawl" literally the city is literally a super-condensed Megatropolis. The out laying lands are pristine forests and rolling pasture lands. Green as far as the eye can see. With clean fresh air and vibrant rural community the shift from urban to rustic takes minutes and neither is a disappointment.

Public Transport
Public Transportation is the number form of transportation in the whole of Skibereen and over eighty percent of the population do not own private vehicles. Trains, buses, and short lease autos runn people to and back and can get someone almost anywhere. Also the private auto owners tend to quite regularly pick up hitch-hikers for the most minute change hence being even cheaper then the public transportation systems.

Standard of Living
New Dublin has a high standard of living, this is of course measured not only monetarily but also in the quality of life in the city. With inexpensive festivals, carnivals, parades, casinos and pubs on every corner there is no shortage of enjoyment.
This does not suggest there to be no poverty in New Dublin or in Skibereen, but rather the culture of the people is centered around an enjoyment of life, no matter the circumstance. This is also aided by the fact that virtually anyone can become a Skibereenian citizen in as short an amount of time as two business days.

Healthcare
Healthcare in New Dublin as in all of Skibereen is far above Benchmark on the global scale this is of course do to the extremely education-centric mentality of the Skibereenian people and government. The large numbers of charitable organizations and affordable medical services make a universal program completely unneeded, this serves to reduce government intervention.

Land Marks
The center piece of New Dublin is of course New Dublin University, its campus of massive buildings and sprawling greens with high fences and stone walls make it perhaps the most imposing set of structures in the city even if it is drawfed by skyscrapers. NDU sports its own airport, television/radio station, its own representatives in all the branches of the government. It is patrolled by NDU Para-Security Force and is the most safe location in the nation. Safer indeed then the Capital Building. Its massive libraries are for the most open to the public twenty-four hours a day, its on campus hospital is the best in Skibereen, it employs over eleven-thousand staff not including teachers, administration or security.

It is truly an institution dedicated to higher education.

(No pics too, sorry)

Balboa City (or San Diego)

Country:Calizorinstan
Population:2.6 million
Average Tempature: 72 degrees F
Founded: October 28th, 1775

History

The history of this city lies, not on the glorious day it was founded, on October 28th, 1775, but it when it was Tuya Ocotillos, or the capital for the Khistaking tribe, which shared several things with the natives of the time, including human sacrifice. Which meant that they built temples for that purpose, or pyramids.

They founded it on a legend, that they would settle down where they saw clear blue water, and a small patch of snow on the middle of where they would lay the first stone of Tuya Ocotillos. It was founded near or on 875 A.D. They thus started the city that would later be known as San Diego, or Balboa City, by Calizorinstanian natives.

Soon, Tuya Ocotillos expanded, as it gathered more and more population. The neighboring tribes would come and trade goods in this city. It was also, like it is today, one of the biggest sea trading cities of their time, and thus natives from other islands would come and trade goods with the Khistaking tribe. Sadly, there was one neighboring tribe that did not like Khistaking tribe, the Electia tribe.

They first attempted a raid on March 6th 1452, but they failed. The Khistaking defences were too much for them, and their army was utterly
destroyed, thanks to the superior weaponry of the Khistaking tribe.

They then tried 3 more times, to no avail, until in the year 1620, which they were another tribe, for they had been assimilated into another tribe, the Hassyris tribe, which successfully besieged Tuya Ocotillos, and captured the city. They then proceeded to wipe out the Khistaking tribe, which the last city to fall, Huya Heights, was wiped out on December 6th, 1675.

This was the history before the Calizorinstanian settlers discovered the Hassyris Empire, which the colonists attempted to negotiate, but the Hassyris responded with war, and this began the King James War of 1720-1735.

After this war, they made peace to the Hassyris, and made them stop human sacrifices, which angered the priests of the Hassyris. They staged the Osis Riot of 1756, which lead to a Hassyris Civil War. The Calizorinstanian Government, in 1765, authorized an expedition to capture Tuya Ocotillos, and wipe out the Hassyrian Empire for good.

The Hassyarian Expedition set out on March 10th, 1768, and got to the theater of combat 4 months later. They engaged the enemy in the first battle of the war, near a town called Huya Heights. They were helped by the Khistaking Remenant, which thanks to them, helped the Hassyarian Expedition win the battle. The Hassyarian Expedition, had some early losses, such as the First Battle of Youman Jose, but the Second Battle of Youman Jose saw the Hassyarian Expedition Victorious.

The critical battle of the war was the Battle for Tuya Ocotillos on December 5th 1772, which would end the 4 year battle for the Hassyarian Empire, and would end the Hassyarian's Golden Age. In short, the Battle for Tuya Ocotillos was won, thanks in part to the Khistaking Remnant, and the Hassyarian Expedtion's lieutenant commander's, Barry Arnold's charge into the town. Which would be quoted in several poetry pieces, and history books including his son's, John Arnold's quote from "History of Calizorinstan, from Tuya Ocotillos to the Battle of Somerset", "Barry lead the charge, striking down Hassyarians, with the might of his sword, the enemy threw poison darts at the expedition, some striking, but in the end, they lost."

Soon, they renamed Tuya Ocotillos, San Diego, and it has been that ever since.

Safety

This city is one of the more safer ones in Calizorinstan, but we please ask that you bring a gun, just in case you do happen on the rare mugger or thief. The murder rates are at their all time low in the city. The Calizstana neighborhood, just right outside the city, is moderately safe, and the Helioplis neighborhood to the north, is not recommended to visit.

The military has a huge presence in San Diego, because of it being a big naval port, and also the Air Force has a base, which is a joint use or shared base, at Lindbergh Field, which is currently served by, Greston Air, Calizorinstanian Imperial Airways, and Alfegos Rare Earth Metals. There is a fire station of the San Diego Fire Department (SDFD), and a police station there, the San Diego Police Department, the police and the military together, help protect the peace. They are not seen as overbearing, but rather just protecting the nation from all foreign threats.

Environment

San Diego, while it is environmentally sound, does house some of the leading electronics companies, such as Apple Electronics, Aero Research and Development Company, and Hugesoft Electronics. The hills to the east of the city are basically rural, and some suburb communities. The hills to the north
contain suburbs, that are relatively peaceful and safe.

Living Standards

The living standards are good, Home and City Magazine rated San Diego 9.6/10.0 on living conditions, praising it for it's "Modern, and well respected living conditions, the homes are good, the bus and the monorail system is free for all citizens." The roads are among the best in the country, and the traffic laws have been improved upon, and the roads improved to lessen the traffic jams. There are almost no slums in San Diego.

Healthcare

The healthcare system is second to none, and the ambulance system is among the best in the nations, most hospitals are linked to the monorail system, thus often times, you can get to the hospital quicker in a monorail system, then in your own car! Still, they do have garages for ambulances, the response time for the hospitals in San Diego are among the best in the nation.

Landmarks/Attractions

It is generally recommended that you visit the Multitainment Theme Park in the Carlsbad area, 15 miles north of San Diego, it features many theme parks in one, including famous movies, such as "For the Flag", and even a Star Trek/Wars themed area, along with LOTR theme park. There are also several shopping opportunities, with the James Long's shopping centers spread throughout Calizstana County.

There is also the Civil War memorial, commemorating those who lost their lives, in the successful struggle to remain a free nation. And there is the Air Force /Navy Museum, which showcases all of the aircraft that the two services have operated over the years including, the F-4 Phantom II, the Hawker Hunter, the Mirage III, the F-35, the F/A-15 Cardinal, and many others.

The main landmark is the capitol building, which if you look closely has some strange scrawls on it. This building predates the San Diego city itself!, it was built in the 1400's by the Khistaking people, and it's been renovated over the years, but still the main building. It is called the "Old Capitol", and is the premier landmark of the area.

Höfn

Location: On the sea in the province of Straumur, in the Theocracy of the Beatus.

Population: 587,000 people

Average Temperature, winter: 38 degrees F

Average Temperature, summer: 77 degrees F

Founded: c2200 B.C.

http://france-hotel.org.uk/Monaco/pix/monaco2.jpg

History

The city of Höfn has been one of our nations most important ports for nearly four thousand years. Although, do to a fire, much of its history has been lost. From what we do know it was founded around 2200 B.C., by who we don't know. We also know little to nothing about the city up to 1890. After that we know that in 1901 there was a major renovation to the Toplin Monastery, which had fallen into disrepair after the fire 11 years earlier. Nothing of great importance has happened there since.

Standard of Living

Like most of the Beatus, Höfn enjoys a very high standard of living. Many luxury yachts line the marinas of Höfn. Most people own at least two TV's and a computer. There are few apartment buildings, or condos, and the housing in Höfn are mainly houses.

Education

Höfn is know for its quality education system, which is 100% privately owned, but that is not a problem as 99.99% of the people in Höfn can afford them, and the other .01% receives assistance form the government to pay for them. Höfn schools have a 98% graduation rate, which is the best in the country.

Healthcare

Hospitals in Höfn are also privately owned, and are close to being the best in the nation, second only to the City of the Blessed. People come from all over the world to go to Höfn's new Cancer Research Clinic, that is on of the foremost authorities on cancer research and treatment.

Tourist Attractions

Höfn is a hidden gem for tourists. It has some of the most overlooked treasures. Such as the beautiful Toplin Monastery, which was built somewhere around 1650, or the ornate Höfn Seaside Hotel. There is also Höfn's many beautiful beaches, and parks. is also the center for seafood in the Theocracy of the Beatus.

Tavroa, Kirav

http://canadianwinter.ca/bc/images/gallery_images/vancouver_downtown_at_night2.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee194/Glyphick47/Flags/TavroaFlag.png

Location: Situated on a bay on the West Coast of Kirav Proper.

Population: 547,000

Average Temperature: 45ºF

History

Tavroa was founded by Kiravian settlers as a protected shipping port and refuge. With the rapid populization of the West Coast, the city grew, and became a national centre of trade, software development, and for the processing of fish and timber. Because of its position on the West Coast, many colony ships have been launched from the city.

Tavroa was heavily dmaged in a rockslide caused by tremours in the nearby mountains, but recovery was swift. Cocoa from the tropical areas of the Western Sea was first imported into the city in C.Y. 2030. Many chocolate buisnesses opened up, and chocolate production is a major secondary industry.

Standard of Living, Education and Healthcare

Tavroa is a mostly middle class city, with a few neighbourhoods on the outskirts occupied by the working-class Undinan contract labourers. Schools in the city are ranked 5th in Kirav, after Saar-Kaleforest, Saar-Westcoast, Stanton, and Kirav City. The city has 5 high-capacity, well funded intermediate schools, and 8 high schools, one of which was named #1 high school in the country by the Secriat of Education. Hospitals are of highest quality, and are staffed by the highly educated populace and supplied with top-grade pharmeceuticals from the nearby biotechnology centre of Cypress Forge. Streets are spotlessly clean, and the sanitation system is quite effective. Waste and recycleables are collected once every 2 days.

Shops and restuarants are diverse, selling everything from groceries to medæval apparel, and th eopulace is well-supplied with all of their daily needs. An underground mall is currently being constructed.

Safety

The city is served by a 570-strong, well-trained, well-equipped municipal police force. 1,000 additional law enforcment officers, SWAT and other units are maintained by Tohaman Countyship and are readily available if needed.

No violent crime (murder, rape, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, armed robbery) has been reported since the aftermath of the rockslide 30 years ago. Non-violent and white collar crime is the lowest in the nation after the capital city, Kartika. Street fights and domestic disputes happen often in the Undinan Sector, but only once have they resulted in casualties. The Municipal Police and the Office of Social Welfare are currently trying to re-educate and prevent such fights through improved education in the local schools and a higher police presence.

Tavroa has never been invaded by a foriegn power.

Tourist Attractions

Tavroa hosts an annual Chocolate Festival. Need we say more?

Well, anyway, chocolate is widel consumed, original and unique chocolate treats are sold in stalls (Chocolate-covered dragonfruit, anyone?), chocolate sculptures and artwork are judged by the EMpire's most reknowned artists, and a large chocolate fountain is ecerected in the City Centrum.

Sculptures, mainly expressive and abstract, are found throughout Tavroa's sidewalks.

The city has an areas of beachfront that is optimal for tanning and swimming. Yachting is permitted in Tavroa Bay.

Alfegos
18-11-2007, 20:46
The best city in Alfegos to live in/visit is Polinapolis:

Polinapolis, the new city of glass, steel, marble and culture, founded in 1879. With a current population of 2.3 million, it is surprising how clean and cultured the city is. This is due to the public-transport only areas, accessed by using a public travel card or coupon (available at all good newsagents)., as well as the attitude in Alfegos against littering and vandalism.

The central district, away from the steel towers rising up to 850m from the ground is the cultural district: a spawl of hundreds of cafés, restaurants, shops, cinemas, museums and theatres with a smatering of high-class hotels around them.

Usual method of commution around the city, if not by pushbike, is by the massive system of public transport that covers the entire country.

If visitors wish, they can visit the ancient remains of the first city in Alfegos, a sprawl of marble and granite ruins over 2500 years old, kept well preserved by the archeological conservators in the area.

If they want, they can also have a tour to the mountains of Solace, 3 hours by airship or 1/2 an hour by plane. These massive mountains are surrounded by a massive rainforest, an amazing sight to those who first visit.

Average cost of accomodation in Polinapolis city centre: Æ1 600 000
Average cost of suburb accomodation: Æ600 000
Average cost of a single bed in a 4-star hotel: Æ420
Average cost of a three-course meal in a good restaurant: Æ100
Average noise level: 20 DB
---------------------------------------------

Worst place to live/visit: Milkavich

A sprawling Megapolis, with 105 million inhabitants crammed into a massive ring of suburbs surrounding the industrialised heart.

Around the outside of Milkavich are the deadlands, which after 250 years of strip mining, oil drilling, deforestation and pollution have left the entire area arid and devoid of most life.

Inside the city, amongst the towering chimneys, it is not much better. Crime is a major issues, due to the massive presence of the drugs trade here, and average pay is Æ0.11 an hour.

This is also the breeding ground for revolution, with 3 civil wars starting here.

However, the city is trying to clean up its act, though it is estimated that it will take 20 years before it is like Polinapolis.

Average House cost in city centre: Æ10 000
Average House cost in the suburbs: Æ20 000
Average 4-Star hotel cost: N/A
Average 3-course meal cost: Æ20
Average noise level: 65DB
Vitolia
19-11-2007, 09:39
Portcity, Springfield-Vitolia
Portcity, Springfield-Vitolia is located along the coast in the Vitolian colony of Springfield-Vitolia on Springfield Island, a beautiful, tropical island paradise in the Pacific.

Portcity is actually a small coastal town with a port as the only access to it from outside the island. Housing about 2,000 people, the majority of which are actually allied ViZionarian soldiers staying here for the time being while assisting in the guarding of the colony due to some hostilities in other colonies on the island, it is much more of a visitors paradise - however, for certain people looking for a very low-key, relaxing life without the pressures, hassle, and speed of a larger, more "wired" city, this is at the top of the list. Even so, it is home to the headquarters of Vitolia's Pacific Operations Department, and to Springfield-Vitolia's Capital Building. No true roads, no vehicles, very little in the way of electricity beyond lights, heating and AC, and food, this is the perfect little town to relax in and enjoy the paradise that its located in.

Safety
Safety? With the majority of its 2,000 residence being soldiers, and a population so small that everyone knows everyone, this is likely the safest 'little city' around!

Standard of living
Standard of living is something that may not be at the top of the list in comparison to many other more 'advanced' cities - no roads, no cars, very little electricity. None the less, that's why Portcity has so much charm - because it's not like "every other city". Especially when you consider the fact that its run by an early 20's male who seems to have more interest in the ladies on the sandy beaches than he does about his own office.

Environment
The environment is what makes Portcity who it is! Like stated before, there's no roads, no vehicles, and little electricity. It's just a simple paradise. It's not a city with environment added to it, it's an environment with a city added to it.

Healthcare
Healthcare is actually quite suprisingly good. While there are no official hospitals, there is a small doctors office setup, and for more severe emergencies, the Vitolian carrier offshore, as well as the ViZionarian ship offshore, both have outstanding medical staff.

Eska

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d114/FlamingSouls/521344Sunset-Seattle-Skyline-Elliot.jpg

Country: Flaming Souls
Population: ~1,250,000,000
Capital: Yes
Founded: Unkown, Established as Capital on 5/30/1415
Average Temperature: 10.5 Celsius

History of City
In it's earliest days, Eska was a mere tribal village. As one of the few that could easily sustain itself, it grew in prosperity. On its official naming as Capital of Soulia, the population was around 150,000. Now it is the largest city in Soulia, home to a large percentage of the total population of the nation. It is commonly known as the Jewel of Soulia and takes up a large area from the western coast to the Western Linqorian Mountain Range.

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d114/FlamingSouls/image.jpg

Safety
Police presence in Eska is most adequately defined as pervasive. Security cameras monitor all major intersections throughout the city, and patrol cars can be seen routinely on every road. Due to it's size, the city is divided into sectors, with different groups of emergency services covering each individual sector. Neighborhood Watch programs abound in Eska.

Enviornment
From Ocean Views, to Mountain Retreats, Eska has it all. Occupying the now dried Bogus Basin, Eska covers many hundreds of square miles.

Standard of living

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d114/FlamingSouls/tn_idhome.jpg

The standard of living in Eska is very good, with the poorest residents receiving subsidized housing. The subsidized housing is overseen by an entire branch of the local government, and they pride themselves on a two hour response time to even the most mundane issue that tenants bring up. The richer citizens live in penthouses in one of the many downtown areas, or in estates in the mountains.

Healthcare
Following the national "True Healthcare" model, citizens of Eska always have medical services at hand. A unique blend of Universal Healthcare and the Insurance model set forth by the USA, more mundane medical issues are handled free of charge, with more expensive and unique issues being covered by the Governmental Insurance Policy that extended to all citizens.

Transportation
Due to its immense size, Eska has multiple subway systems, a monorail system, intercity highway loops, and wide surface streets.

Landmarks
Andunians
Andunians started out as a small shop showcasing curios and odd items from the world at large. It now operates a showroom that has 2 square miles of floor space and draws over 5 billion visitors a year.

Treeline Park
Widely thought of as the largest inner city park in the world, Treeline Park dominates a full 15 square miles. The outer fringes have footpaths and all the amenities that one would expect of a park. The interior however is mostly indigenous flora with a few paths. Mounted Police patrol the area regularly in case of emergency.

The Capital Building
When the new Government Tower was completed in the Knopan District, the old Capital building was turned into a history museum, depicting the Soulian Nations rise to power.

Mac Anu

The city island state of the Queendom of Aqua Anu is the most populated and the largest of the islands. It's also the capital of the Queendom.

Average Temperature: Hot year round. Temps have reached as high as 105° Fahrenheit (41° Celsius) in the summer and 85° F (29° C) in the Winter. There is an average humidity point of about 2.1% (4.1% during the winter)

History

Founded in the late 1400's as a freelance colony for Nomads it became an established monarch in the early 1500's. It was a Kingdom island for a while until it was taken over by the king's wife and turned into a Queendom. It was the only state until the Aquatic Exploration Era which the other islands were discovered. When the other islands were added as cities it was deemed the capital by the end of the 1500's.

Note: With NsWiki in transition I can't guarantee this history is in continuity

Transportation

The main mode of transportation around the city is boat. Virtually all civilians own a personal boat of their own. These boats are used nation wide to also travel from island to island. There are also public transports such as water buses and water taxis. Otherwise one can travel about on foot or even bike.

Safety

AA's police HQ as well as the Royal Drug Enforcement Agency are stationed in the heart of the city. There are several alarm terminals stationed around the city in the event of an emergency. There are also lighting alarms that will sound off if a dangerous lighting storm is imminent. Strong barriers are there to protect against Hurricanes and storm surge though these do have a limit.
In the event of heavy rains the canals are artificially modified to slow the current and keep the water levels low. Some flooding may occur, don't worry this is normal.

Standard of Living

98% of citizens live in apartments of some kind. Like any metropolis the standard of living is mixed from area to area. With many Government programs such as The Affordable Housing Act most people can find a small apartment for a reasonable price. Closer to the Government offices and commercial heart of the city mini suites are common place. More in the industrial sector of closer to the coast lines there are greater rates of poverty and smaller housing buildings.

New Tortuga is the second largest city in The American Privateer, and the center of the Commodities Exchange Market (CEM:TAP) for The American Privateer.

Founded in 1985 Local Time (2015 Earth-1 Time), following the Rift-Incident, the founders of the city unscrolled the blue-prints for every major Supertall Skyscraper in Earth-1, and decided to rebuild their world on the Tortugan Sub-Continent.

Because of this, New Tortuga has the highest concentration of Supertalls in the world.

Standard of Living
Though the Standard of Living is high in the city, costs are not. Most of the food is grown locally in the giant multi-story Greenhouse Skyscrapers (http://img.timeinc.net/popsci/images/2007/07/vertical_artbbig.jpg), and most of the power comes from renewable resources. Most of the populace live in the Skycity (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/1e/Skycity1000_01.jpg) Complex that forms the center of the city, while most of them work in the supertalls that ring the SkyCity.

Safety
The Police and Emergency Responders in New Tortuga are everywhere it seems to the tourists in the region, though they go unnoticed by the populace at large. Most of the cops in the city are Beat Cops, and spend most of their day patrolling their beat on foot, with a Patrol Car nearby that location.

Crime is low, due to the high quality of education, and the abundance of jobs from all sectors. Though their is a small unemployed segment, they are regularly swept up, and taken to wither a Mental Health Facility or a Work Camp, where they are able to learn a trade or find a place doing what they have done in the past.

Environment
Tortuga City has a beautiful climate, with a sumer that, though sticky, is not unbearably so. Though the city is kept warm in the winter by the buildings, large fans underneath suck the air along the streets at a Beaufort Force of 3-4, keeping the air cool. Rain falls in a light drizzle at least once a week, though the numerous overhangs throughout the city means that little of it ever drops ont he people on the street. During the Spring and fall, mild temperatures prevail, with a dryer fall, and a wet spring. The winters get particularly bitter outside of the city, though inside the city, the temperature rarely falls below 52, due to the large Heat Island Effect.

Transportation
Due to the size of the city, Public Transit is a must. Monorail systems criss cross the city Grid at various levels, with many of them having stations that run only as far as the Skycity Complex. Inside of Skycity, multistory trams move residents between floors and sections of the City.

History of the City:
The city was founded in 7 BCE by two tribes who, after a warring past, decided to band together and establish a peaceful coexistence and benefit from each others labor and individual strengths; one tribe was known for its immensely good hunting skills while the other was known for its vast and dependable weapon making.

The city had an exceptionally large population when founded, estimated (and historically backed) at 2.8 million, which was unseen during this time period. Given the fact that many families had more than 12 children may have contributed to the large population.

http://i10.tinypic.com/8fbrbb9.jpg

In 178 CE the city became the capital after families started to move outward and establish smaller enclaves. The city did not have a name until this time, until the council of imperialist voted to name the city Vakira, after a well respected medicine man that had died the previous year.

Safety:
Vakira, unlike most cities in the world, does not have a reputation for crime, in fact, crime is such a non-issue here that when a crime does happen (which is rare in itself) that people engage in large peaceful protests because they think the police aren’t doing their jobs. Crime is literally a foreign concept to most Maraqueans.

http://i11.tinypic.com/6sv33pj.jpg

Unfortunately, Maraque has been the target of domestic terrorists looking to rid the country of the benevolent and largely popular monarchy, which has ruled since its inception. These attacks are not organized or orchestrated well because of their lack of support and funding, but there is usually a small scale attack every quarter century or so, although the police have foiled every attack since 1977 and have arrested hundreds of individuals involved.

Environment:

Being the most urbanized and industrialized city in Maraque, Vakira is plagued by the same pollution problem of everyday megalopolises, so it is not seen as a “con” simply because with a city of this size and economic importance, pollution will not be like your run of the mill countryside.

http://i9.tinypic.com/7wqkvx1.jpg

However, Vakira, being the size of New York State, has many greenery and as such low pollution areas for naturists and everyday people to enjoy. All of the top ten nature reserves in the country are in Vakira.

Standard of Living:

Given that 54% of the entire country’s population lives within Vakira borders, it is safe to say the living standards of the city are very good. In 2004 the imperial government imposed a law that stated any new home built after the year 2005 must be, at a minimum, 2,000 square feet, with apartments no smaller than 1,000 sq ft.

Also in an unprecedented move, the imperial government enacted a law which stated that homeownership is a right, not a privilege, and as such anyone unable to afford a house will be given the necessary resources, which almost entirely eliminated homelessness.

http://i7.tinypic.com/8a3pym1.jpg

Living standards in Vakira for middle class citizens are similar to the upper class society of America, whereas the poor live in conditions like the middle class of America. The upper crust of society therefore lives in unparallel extravagance, but it isn’t seen as negative because living standards for even the poorest of society are so great.

Average rent in the city is 1,250 maras ($2,543), which is roughly 15% of the monthly income of the average citizen. Utilities such as electricity and water are completely free of charge, paid for by the imperial government. The individual services that use that electricity or water do come at a cost for the renter or owner, however.

Healthcare:

Healthcare in Vakira is based off a universal healthcare system. Natural born citizens receive free basic healthcare and basic invasive surgeries, but must foot 10% of the bill if it is a non-mandatory optional surgery. Emergency and surgeries where ones life depends on the surgery are absolutely free. Tourists must pay all their medical bills if they do not have private insurance in their home country that covers it.

http://i3.tinypic.com/6u7v39s.jpg

Transportation:

Because of the incredible population, Vakira has one of the most sophisticated and advanced transportation systems in the world. There are 65,793,600 buses in service 24/7. 50% of Vakirian citizens use the bus as their main mean of transportation.

As well, there are 32,896,800 MAGLEV operated subway trains operating 24/7 throughout the city, with a subway station on every other street corner. 95% of Vakirians use the train as their main mean of transportation or use one at least twice in a single day to get where they’re going.

http://i3.tinypic.com/85uw60l.gif

Additionally, there are 16,448,400 taxis operating 24/7 in the city that will take you anywhere you desire, at super low rates. Tips are a culturally traditional practice.

Highways operate on the outskirts of the city, and interlock with one another through various onramps and other methods. These highways have ten lanes in each direction, with the inner most lanes reserved for trucks and other slow vehicles while the outer most lanes are reserved for faster passenger cars. The five further most lanes have a speed limit of 100 mph, while the five closest lanes have a speed limit of 80 mph.

Landmarks:

Emerald Park:

http://i1.tinypic.com/6onz0r5.jpg

This massive park is in the center of the city, and at a size of 10,000 square miles it is one of the largest public parks in the country. It is world renowned as one of the most pleasant places to visit, and is highly recommended by various international magazines as a “must visit in your lifetime” destination. It boasts a massive, 600,000 seat capacity arena which is the main spot for special events such as comedy sketches, concerts, auto shows, expos, and other large scale events. The annual Vakira International Auto Show is held there.

The Vakirian Museum of International Artistic Infusion:

http://i6.tinypic.com/8f2jjuq.jpg

This modern art museum in the art of Vakira is home to more than 100 million individual pieces of artwork by world renowned artists from more than a 70 million countries worldwide. From paintings to sculptures and everything in between, the person with an artistic eye will love the Vakirian Museum of International Artistic Infusion as a pinnacle of modern art and a peak at the future of artistic thought to come.

The Grand Imperial Palace:

Image: http://i15.tinypic.com/7xmxhk5.jpg (Jolt only allows 10 images at a time...)

This grand palatial estate in the thriving shopping district of Vakira is by far the nation’s most cherished landmark, as it is the main residence of their beloved king. Built in 1487 CE, the palace quickly became a symbol of the prosperity of the region, and was designated a holy site by local Christians because of its sheer presence, it could only be made by a divine being. Although this belief is not widely held today, many Christians in Maraque (numbered around 1.9 million), still pray inside the palace grounds every Christmas.

The Statue of Oasis:

http://i16.tinypic.com/6lc8g1w.jpg

The Statue of Oasis was built in 1692. The man the statue is modeled after is unknown, but it is known that he was a real person. Historians believe he was a heroic figure who was unjustly murdered for a crime against a same sex couple he did not commit; this wasn’t found out until 12 years after his death. A statue was hence built in his honor, as a symbol of the country’s grief over killing one of its own for a heinous crime he denied until the very end.

Norton City

Country: Leekastin
Population: 1,320,567
Capital: Yes
Founded: 12th July Circa. 500AD
Temperatures: -27C - 14C

History Of City
Norton City, so called becuse of its position on the northern borders of leekastin, is located in the mountainous region of New Germany and has served as a crossroad for cultural, social and economic events and characters. This resulted in an interseting mix of North American, Oriental and Pacific Lifestyles and cultures. It is home to several sports clubs, these include; Norton City American Football Club, Norton United Rugby Union Club and the Norton City Crossbow and Archery Club.

Safety
Norton City was statistically the safest place in the country, although through recent times of terrorism and insurgency, it has been a target for a few terrorist attacks in recent years, mainly because of its importance as the headquaters of the International Security Assistance Force, although many of these attacks sucessfully investigated and the criminals punished.

Environment
Norton City is an extremely clean city for one of its size, almost 89% of the buildings are made of wood and at least 98% of the poulation recycle, there are no roads, therefore there is no traffic, and everyonr travels on foot or by bike, automatic vehicles are only allowed to residents with a dissability which doesnt allow them the use of their legs. Even During the countries short, but effective communist regime, the city maintained its beauty.

Standard Of living
The standard of living is very high, many things are cheap and desiese is almost unknown, many people can be expected to live up to around 100 years old, due the healthy diet of fish, mountain herbs and plants. This city has served well for healthy eating chefs, artists, and others trying to escape the rush of modern life.

Healthcare
Healthcare is the downside to foreigners, sice the local population is so healthy, there are no hospitals, people can expect to visit a local shaman or witch doctor in a nearby village if they do need help, but healthcare in the city, on an international view, is poor.

Anagonia
22-11-2007, 09:33
City: Union City
Founded: 0020 AU (After Unification) or 1820 AD (After-Death)
Population in City: 2,450,624 (and rising)
Capital: Yes
Average Temperature:
54-85 Degrees average between May and October. 32-51 Degrees average between November and April.

History of Union

Union was founded on November 2nd, Double-zero Twenty AU. Twenty years after the Unification Wars hammered the Anagonian Region into economic upheaval and submission. It was then, at 0000 AU, or 1800 AD, that the seven major Empires in the Anagonian Region come together and unite under a Banner of Peace and Prosperity. Many stories could be told of this event, and many historical references mentioned, but one could simply visit the Grand Library of the Republic in Union to get all that.

It took Twenty years after Unification for the Seven Empires to combine efforts and construct a city so Grand and so Magnificent that it would combine the hearts and minds of their people into one purpose. Although in the beginning "Grand" and "Magnificent" were nothing compared to small Congressional Building that was erected in the center of the planned city. Union started out well enough then, just as a simple farming and trading community. Then came Grand and Magnificent.

The Congressional Building took new life in 0030 AU after a bill was passed to create four new Unification Cities. Independence, Freedom, and Republic cities were to be constructed in the likeness of Union. Although in likeness not so much as a small town around a huge building. That all changed, however, when the actual United Government came to being. Union went from a small town with a ridiculously huge building to a city with a small Congressional Building in over a year.

The other cities modeled the construction outlined and were thence built, and stand today with the original Congressional Buildings in the center of each city. Union being the first of these Grand and Magnificent projects was given the responsibility of the Capitol Building and, in later years, the Republic Library which then became the Grand Library of the Republic.

(Basic Outline, sorry)

Safety

Union is a considerably safe city compared to most cities in the world. With a well-funded police presence and a constantly changing atmosphere, the Union City Police Force meets every need of the People present. SWAT and GUARDSMEN forces are on patrol 24/7, either on calls to the rare critical crime or some other disturbance, the People of Union have become accustomed to the shiny Red and Blue colored patrol cars that ride through the streets often.

Only two times in it's history has Union come under threat of either a murdering spree or a dangerous threat. Both times the UCPF met the needs and concerns of its People and dispatched the threats quickly enough. So well-trained are the UCPF that they often travel long distances to assist neighboring cities with their occasional disturbances. Unions investigation department is a desire for every Police Agency in the Nation.

Of course not everything is squeaky clean. Four years ago Police Chief Robert Gates was involved in an assignation that shocked and puzzled the nation. The second time in Unions history having a considerable threat to the safety of the populace was met with hard investigation skills and constant calls to leads that eventually led to the culprit. It was found that a Foreign Agent had done the deed after the Police Chief would go to the Government about some suspicious activities.

That now disrespected Foreign Agent is serving a life sentence without chance of Diplomatic Immunity. Anagonia treats all foreigner's with respect, so long as they respect the life of its Citizens.

Style

Many restaurants and many night-clubs light up the Capital City of Union. Bars and fancy hotels make headway here too. The most noteable of all is the Union Dirtro Upcon, a medium-class resturant that fits the budget of Lower-Class citizens with the style of an upper-class establishment. So popular is the Dirto Upcon that it even has its own hotel space. Swimming pools and even gym's light the Dirto Upcon with the most surprising of results.

The most notable feature is the preserved forest that sits directly near the northern region of the city. Here, visitors to Dirto Upcon can enjoy a night of fancy eating at low costs while gazing at the beauty of Mother Nature.

Environment

The United Republic of Anagonia puts a substantial amount of money into preserving and replanting the environment. One example of this is the Alto Forest east of the City. Having been placed under National Environmental Protection, the Alto Forest is maintained by constant observation of wildlife present and the occasional survey of visitors to determine the overall health and wellness of the preservation.

Clean air is a constant in Anagonia. Only because the entire nation now relies on Non-Fossil Fuel assets to go around. Nuclear Reactors were replaced over fifty years ago with a new technology that promised results. Hydrogen Fuel-Cell's in vehicles were advanced enough to present the Horsepower of Unleaded Fueled engines. Reactors using Hydrogen Technology are stationed in eight places around the Nation to provide clean, environmentally friendly power. Solar stations even appear in some places, and are welcomed by foreigner's should they desire.

Union sits next to the Alverian Lake, which is about twenty miles long and six miles in width. Scientists believed it to be a relic of some meteor impact. Before the change to more clean and efficient ways of fueling the nation, the Alverian lake was polluted with toxic waste. Now it stands as a testament to the productivity and reserve of the Nation towards its cherished environment. Twenty years of cleaning and an extra five of restoring the wildlife led to one of the most popular fishing attractions in the country. Often more than not one would find visitors just enjoying the sunrise or sunset, on boats or on shore, and definitely taking time off from their daily troubles to take a nice, long, cold dip to refresh the mind and body.

Standards of Living

Low-Wage, Medium-Wage, and High-Wage classes are constant in Union. What may seem as odd to other nations is just another thing to the Government of Anagonia. Most Congressional Leaders have jobs to pay for their lives, going to sessions when called upon or taking a day off, which is mandated as every weekend by law to allow at least two days of decision making per week. The rest either are self-made enough or payed by the Military for their reserve service to maintain a constant presence. This, of course, being just once example of the extremes the Government has gone to maintain a People/Government equilibrium.

There are poor families in Union, sadly. They are not rampant, nor are forgotten. Understandably so it is unavoidable, but the Peoples Graciousness and the Governments Call have given the Poor homes to sleep in and temporary jobs for the City and Provincial-State jobs to allow income. Mostly the jobs of Construction and Engineering are presented in these areas, with the possibility always given of advancement in school degree's to further their poor way of life, and hopefully give them a chance at a Medium-Wage existence.

Typically the High-Wage and Medium-Wage are at an equal level. Not many people are rich enough to present themselves with mansions and yachts. The income level in Anagonia is high, to stabilize the level of life so the Government says. But what the People desire the Government is supposed to give. Most of the Income is presented to the Poor in such levels of assistance as described above, while the rest is either given back in tax relief or to the Well-funded Security and Military forces. The Cities and Provincial-States themselves make enough income to support their own initiates, and are roughly left alone expect for the yearly tax to the United Republic Treasury.

Most People in Anagonia own a home and have a TV and computer. The standard of living is presenting itself these days as much a way of life as a way of expressing oneself. Most People have enough money to purchase luxuries and items that support their chosen path in existence, which in the Governments eye's deters criminal activity to a low level. You would occasionally see a Teen or two having an iPod, which would have been purchased at a local retail store for a price unheard of in most nations. Manufacturing is a big thing in Anagonia, with that most products are produced at the same level as originals or of higher quality.

If a Nation were to make Anagonia struggle, all it would have to do was disable the Manufacturing Power of the Nation to make it crumble. But that would be easier said then done, considering the vast amount of money it pours into the economy and the easy rebuilding time it takes to replace a section or two of the economic income.

Healthcare

Six Hospitals are open to the Public and Half-funded by the Government for its People. A government program was also voted and approved to reach out to visitors to assist in any situations that should encounter if happening to stay for a couple of weeks in Union. Certainly anything happening to a Foreigner would be considered a diplomatic incident by the news, since nothing has ever happened to a Foreigner ever since the Agent Crises that down the old Police Chief.

The Health care system is well-funded by the Government and presented as a Half-pay system to the People. Depending on the circumstance, the Government pays all or half and leaves whatever left to the People unless a financial situation is present. Should that be the case, the People would file a return of taxes that could be taken out from next years tax return. The general populace voted this a popular trade-off to a fully funded Government Health-care system that would extremely tax the Economy.

There's why. He says that there is no limit, but 200 is feasible.

I thought it meant that it could vary easily but 200 is the limit. Oh well.

And Anagonia, AD means 'Anno Domini', which is latin.

I know, I just prefer the Christian Term better. No offense given, of course. Anagonia itself, in RP, commonly uses the Christ Reference in all its treaties and date markings.

Skyline of Gogari (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d1/Mexico_DF_City.jpg)

City:Gogari
Founded: approx. 400 AD
Capitol:Since 1657, no capitol before then
Population:551,625,000 and growing
Average Temperature: Average in 17-18ºC in winter, 32-33ºC in summer making t-shirts always fine to wear according to weather.

History:

From 200 to 800 AD there were migrants from Polynesia to the island now known as Uiri. In a valley they found great shelter from the rainless desert to the south and the practically constant rain in the north. Rain was moderate and so this became a properous city due to the nature of these people to compare how much they can hunt and how much they can grow in a year. That is how Gogari was founded and it has been used as the capitol ever since the French designated it like that.

Safety:

There are about 8.8 million police officers in Gogari. Cinsidering the population that is not a lot but it is probably more than the typical city of 500 million+ inhabitants. Every citizen of Uiri who is over 18 has the right to carry a concealed handgun on their person. This includes those visiting on a visa so make sure you get a visit visa from the Uir government or you could be in deep trouble in a hostage situation.

Youth-related crime is a problem and there are a few gangs in Gogari. When traveling at night in the east end it is best to have your gun in place where ity won't be taken and where you can easily retrieve it. Holding it in a firm but not tense grip is best with your finger not on the trigger. Most commerce comes to a halt at night in the east end so if you find yourself out past 20h00 it is best to just return to your hotel room.

East end is where all the cheap goods are and beic necessities are the only things being sold. East end holds most of the slums and 2 or 3 star hotels which are as cheap as 1 star hotels. Standard of living in the east end is very, very different when compared with the west end.

Compared to the East End Mall which has food, clothes, and some appliances in the stores, the West End Mall is paradise. Food in the West End Mall is twice the price of food in the East End Mall but everything people associate with malls and more is contained in the West End Mall. Electronics, high-end clothes, toys, everything.

West End is almost as dangerous as the East End at night only you probably won't be hurt, just mugged. At night is when all the prostitutes come out because it's hard to make money in prostitution during the day. Prostitutes are legal so don't worry if a cop sees you hiring one. West End also has some Casinos although they can be found across the North End in the East and West. Start in the East casionos and progress West as you win for higher stakes and progress East as you loose for lower stakes.

South is very very safe during the night in the West. It's where a lot of landmarks are and hotels as well. You won't need your gun out but you will need it on you because street gangs are all over the city.

Standard of Living:

The currency in Uiri is the arjet and it is divided into 1000 mila. 1 mila is written 0à001, 10 mila is written 0à010, 100 mila is written 0à100 and an arjet is written 1à000. At the time of this writing 1 arjet is US$1.8775.

Due to there being no income tax in Uiri, Gogari has become a tax haven for many wealthy men and women in the Pacific Islands region where Uiri is located. This makes the standard of living in the West End of Gogari very high with the average full meal (main course which includes side, drink and appetizer or desert) costing around 60à000 per person which at the current exchange rate is US$ 112.65. With the VAT of 11%, the price is 66à600 on average in a West End Resteraunt which is always a fancy one.

Due to the Top-Heavy Capitalist structure of Uiri with all the rich living in half of Gogari or in the only mansion in an entire town employed by the owner of the mansion in a factory, all the poor which includes 39 million unemployed and hundreds of millions employed for 0à470 an hour ($0.88/h) living everywhere else which makes the standard of living in Uiri lower than that of most other states with such robust economies.

A can of Coca-Cola in the West End: 1à500 before taxes, 1à665 after
A can of Cocal-Cola 5 km East: 0à100 before taxes, 0à111 after

Enviroment

Nearest body of water is the Pacific Ocean, approximately 10 km east of the eastern most suburb of Gogari. The air is polluted by gasoline automobiles which look fancy and are used mostly in the west end. What used to be public transport is a subterranean tunnel system with an adult fare of 1à500 or a yearly pass which costs 500à000 a real bargain when it is used by poor to get to and from work twice a day. The problem is that poor often end up spending a quarter of their yearly income on it if they don't have a car.

For the poor who have a car, the enviromentally alternative is used. They are very cheap because no one in Uiri gives a hoot about the enviroment because the northern rainforest of Uiri still stands. No metal deposits have been found under it and so it shall not be torn down in the foreseeable future.

Healthcare

Healthcare services performed by the state:

-Diagnosis
-Care for life-threatening injuries
-Operations to save lives

Education

No education performed by the state. Some schools were built using state funds but that is it. Voting is done by selecting the colour of your favourite political party. Education can be paid for. Often an education is paid for once and the reciever of the paid-for education teaches their kids to read who teach their kids to read et cetera. Not writing or math, only reading.

Landmarks

Uruk

City: Uruk
Founded: Before 0 (Around 9000 BCE)
Capitol: 6135 (2243 BCE)
Population: 42,430,000 at last census
Average Temperature: 25-30 degrees celcius

History:

Considered one of the oldest cities in the Republic, Uruk was founded before the city states came together and founded the first nation of Sumer in the year 0 (8378 BCE). Uruk continued to grow, as with all cities in the new nation until the conquest of the Akkadians and the establishment of the Dictorial Republic in 6135 (2243 BCE), when Uruk was declared the official capitol of Sumer. By the time of the 6350 (2028 BCE) Uruk had reached a population of just over one million people, making it by far the largest city in the world at the time. The city was forced to expand outside the old walls, which still remain, into the surrounding countryside to accomodate the growth.

Durring the times of isolation, Uruk's population would gro little, allowing for greater growth in other cities. The periods of war with the European nations to the north after 8800 (422 CE) brought the population down until the advent of industrialisation. Following the Great Europa War from 10,179 to 10,311 (1801 to 1933 CE) rapid economic growth quickly redesigned the new city sections to the layout that it is today. Population growth followed economic growth, and the cities population boomed beyond any pervious level. Today Uruk is home to over forty million people, most of whom live in the residential quarter of the city to the south west.

The city today is divided into five regions in a roughly circular pattern. In the centre is the old city, covering an area of six square kilometers on a manmade island. The old city is home mostly to religious temples, some government buildings, very very few highly regulated homes, and a few other groups. The old city is completely walled, and many buildings within the walls, indeed the walls themselves, are thousands of years old. It is completely accessable by stone walking bridges at four key areas along the east and west sides, and internal transportation is highly restricted. The river Buranun, the long time lifeblood of the city, flows around the old city centre. Surrounding the old city is a forested park area approxemetly 5km thick. Walking paths, camping areas, and other places to enjoy the outdoors. Transit stations to and from the old city are located witin the park area and travel to and from it, as well as the three vehicle roads which go to the old city. For 1km along either side of the river bank along the northern part of the city is a continuation of this park, provided to seperate the industrial area of the city at the north-west side, and the residential area to the west side. Commercial groups such as offices are located to the south west, and partially south side as well.

Safety

Uruk has a complete Territorial Guard garrison, including security and medical officers. The existance of several Republican Guard, Army, and Temple Guard units within the city as well means that there is always someone around to help in an emergency.

Crime is virtually nonexistant for the most part. Citizens activly participate in the community to keep everything safe. As such Uruk's streets and walkways are among the safest in the world for a place to go, at any time of day. Territorial Guard personell are highly trained to be polite and helpful to all, and are there for such reasons. Visitors to Uruk, and Sumer in gerneral, are advised to learn the symbols of the Territorial Guard in case of need for assistance.

Territorial Guard units work on a "shoot first" policy towards high crimes in regards to people who refuse to cooperate. High end property theft, rape, kidnap, will all often cause such a situation where the offender will be shot trying to flee instead of chased. This policy has kept the rate of such crimes to almost nothing, with most residents of Uruk never having seen such an event in their lifetimes.

Standard of Living:

Because of the high taxation of the population, Uruk enjoys a strong public system. Housing is provided to all in several tiers of size ranging from single person to those housing several generations of a family. Modern Sumerian homes are built within forty-two story buildings of a standard design. Each building is considered a community itself, containing a general and grocery store, a common area, and often places such as movie theatres and arcades in the lower two floors. Each building contains a central elevator and hall system, with emergency stairways, built into the strong core of the building. Each "floor" is divided into four sections, each occupying a corner of the building and built around a large corner window and common area for each appartment. Each appartment covers two floors in a corner of the building, with approexemetly eighty such appartments per building. Each appartment follows the same basic outline, but is aranged different in many ways, single apartments share a central common area and appartment area, while family ones will occupy the whole area. There are several national hotels within Sumer which offer single, double, and small family rooms of this type, fully furnished, as a part of any tourist package. Visitors will be assigned a room based on the size of their group, and the fee is included in the Visiting Visa package, or they may rent from one of the smaller private hotels outside of town.

An identification card, either for a visitor or resident, will act as an electronic money system for certian items. Food and other nessecary items may be aquired from shops and stores using the ID card's alloted weekly budget, which is adequate for all people to live comfortable, or people may opt to pay with their own money, either paper and coin or electronic. Food is quite cheap regardless of how you buy it, and local food is quite common everywhere. Imported foods often bring with them a much higher value, however there has been signifigant advances in the spectrum of locally produced foods and drinks which allows almost any taste to be fulfilled for a low price.

Transportation through Uruk is one of three ways. Walking or biking, public transportation, and private transportation. The vas majority of Uruk's citizens walk and make use of the well maintained public transit system, however for those who need a little more freedom in some cases electric vehicles ranging from one to six people capacity are avalible for rent and purchase. With the exception of bio-diesel and ethanol powered public transportation, and government/military vehicles, all vehicles within Uruk are mandated electric to provide a greater atmosphere. Public transportation is free with a resident or visitor ID card, and includes full subway and bus coverage throughout the city.

Healthcare:

Healthcare in Uruk, and Sumer in general, is provided in a "pay what you can" basis. Those who can afford their own healthcare are encouraged, if not required, to do so within their budget, while the government will pay the rest. For visitors healthcare is completely covered as part of your Visit Visa. For residents this means that the cost of healthcare will shift depending on the needs of the person, the capability of the person, and the need of the procedure. Fully optional cosmetic surgury for instance, is not covered by the government, but nessecary plastic surgury is if it is included in an operation to save or help one's life. Dental care is included in healthcare as well.

The Sumerian healthcare system is exceptional, with small clinics all over the city. Often community buildings, or a block of community buildings, will share a clinic which is designed to service the members of those communities, with larger public hospitals being designed for the population on a whole. Although both clinics and hospitals are avalible for walk in treatment for visitors.

Environment:

Even by Sumerian standards Uruk is considered a green city. With a lush central forested area for parklands and recreation, much emphasis on gardens, grass, and other plantlife within the residential and commercial areas, and the heavily nuclear, solar, and hydro-electric power systems, Uruk has a reputation for clean and clear air. With electric cars mandatory within the city, and also often used outside the city limits, noise and pollution are kept to a minimum.

Because of it's location Uruk is often a very hot city. Summer temperatures can range over 50 degrees celcius, and in winter drop as low as 0 degrees. celcius. Because of this virtually all buildings are air conditioned, and public fountains and water systems are maintained to a high standard, as well as being abundant. Most walkways within residential areas are designed to provide maximum shade for the users, or fully enclosed to provide heat or air conditioning as needed. The lack of vehicles for the most part, and well maintained public systems such as trash collection, make for well maintained and clean streets in the Residential and Commercial areas.

Places to visit:

Old Uruk - Being one of the oldest cities in the world, the old part of Uruk is an exceptional place to visit for any traveler. The ancient stone and dirt streets, mud brick buildings, and old markets are all maintained to excellent quality to keep the history alive. Visitors can visit, although due to it's age not enter or approach, the old Grainery, which has been dated to almost eleven thousand years old. Tours are avalible of the old city which last from only a few hours to several days, including a stay in a traditional style house.

The collection ranges from scratches in bones and stone, to clay tablets, scrools, and books. The archives collection of over three billion items is accessible in electronic form to the public, however many of the original items are not accessable in physical form. Access to the electronic database is free and open to the public.

The Soldier Memorial - Constructed following the Great Europa War, this memorial includes a museum dictating the history of the Sumerian armed forces, as well as the history of the long and brutal Europa War. The memorial is walled off, with one public access gate and is situated just sinde the central park. The inside wall is made of marble, while the outside mud brick, and carved into the wall on the inside are the names of every Sumerian soldier killed in combat since the start of the Europa War. Both the memorial proper and the museum are open free to the public, with tours avalible.

Parade Square - Located within the residential area this square is used for public parades, demonstrations and celebrations. Durring most of the year it acts as a market area, with private vendors setting up temporary shops top sell all kinds of goods.
