New Land Promises New Opportunities

"Come one, come all," proclaimed Jim Lange, at a governmental press conference today. He was, of course, speaking of the newly discovered Springfield Island, which it was today announced would be opened up for colonization by foreign nations. As you all know Jim Lange is acting leader, while His Holiness, Edwardo Listless is leading Beatusian forces in the invasion of Cripistan, and this is an interesting move. He believes it will help with international relations. All we can do is wait and see what develops.

Official Diplomatic Communiqué

To the Nations of the World,

I wish to invite you to set up a colony on Springfield Island. Despite what you may have heard, it is a very nice, tropical island. You simply need to fill out the form below and send your people, it's that simple. There are however a few rules:
Rules
1.) You must pay a small 3% tariff on all goods that leave the island(there will be no restrictions on trading between colonies.
2.) You may only have 100 military forces, and no tanks, military aircraft(this includes military transports and helicopters), nuclear, biological, biochemical, or chemical weapons, artillery, rocket launchers, firearms over .50 caliber, tracked vehicles, missiles, mines, etc.
3.) There are no environmental restrictions.
4.) You may only make claims on the large main island, the others are off limits.
5.) Keep your claims to a reasonable area(I will determine what that is on a case to case basis)

You may contact us at either our settlement at Gil(see map below) or our Naval Air Station at Jose(again see map below). We have not explored the whole island, and are not liable for any population lost to wild animals, or native people(if there are any).

Pershing brought the optics back down, and looked back at the admiral. "Let's get ashore. Prepare the men."

A series of commands were passed down, and the landing craft was loaded by upwards of 40 men, who disembarked from the Royal Navy cruiser that had brought them there.

Ashore, they began to spread out on 4-wheeled ATV's to mark the territorial claims made by the ASRC earlier that week.

There may be threats out in the colony, and we do not want do be defeated by them. Please, it should be based on the population and the size of the colony, not a set ammount.
An example is 10% of the popuation of the colony, still an example, 500,000 times 10% equals 5,000 armed military. But we do agree on the restrictions to the military as far as weapons.

We would like to ask for the military to increase from a pathetic to a reasonable size. 100 is hardly enough do defend even a neighborhood, much less an entire colony. Of course you can have a landing strip, you can have a whole civilian airport, no on the grenade launchers, and gliders are fine as long as they are civilian.
