Kansiovian Federal Elections

Mr Ruski Attontov, the President of Kansiov is going to finish his last two months as President in his third and final term. He has served his country proud and carried Kansiov into an economic powerhouse. This elections would be a competitive one as it will determine which party would be able to have a candidate to be able to fit into Mr Attontov's big shoes. There are four parties taking part in the elections, they are:

Kansiovian Democratic Union
Candidate for President: Yuri Forlevski

Liberal Party
Candidate for President: Gory Rakiuski

Christian Democrats
Candidate for President: Boris Shamptov

The Kansiovian Socialist Alliance
Candidate for President: Graguski Popov

Current Ruling Party:Kansiovian Democratic Union

Expected Party to Win:Kansiovian Democratic Union
Likely Runner-up: Christian Democrats

How are the elections played out?
The Kansiovian system of elections follows very similarly to that of the United States. There are a total of 245 seats, spread out on 27 Kansiovian states. The number of seats per state is determined by factors such as population and State GDP. Example Northern Territories has a population of 4 million and carries 6 seats. New Neglev, has a population of 12 million, therefore it carries 18 seats. The Party with the most number of seats wins. The Kansiovian debate will begin shortly, people may start submitting in their questions now. Late entries will not be entertained.

OCC: Well, you can participate in the elections by asking sensible questions in the Debate. Note however not all of your questions will be answer, stupid questions will not be entertained. However you guys will not be voting for the party of your choice.

Terry Loudmouth, a red-headed female journalist with a fake psuedo-british accent used by most international reporters stands, "What are the candidates positions on foreign relations and politics abroad?"

Phillip Wheat was an International Affairs Correspondent for The Brayton Times-Herald, Tolvan's widest read newspaper. Wheat's job was rather boring as most Tolvans had little interest in foreign affairs. Nevertheless he couldn't pass on the chance to submit a question for the Kanisov debate.

He quickly typed up an email and sent it on it's way.

"Sir, I am Phillip Wheat of the Brayton Times-Herald and my question is what is your stance on the role of the military in your nation and abroad?"

A man dressed in all black stood up, his excessively dark skin blending in given his heritage.

"Sir, Tom Rickler from World News Broadcasting Company (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=542607). I am interested to know what your stances are on the current global economy and where you wish to take your nation in this economy."

"Alright welcome to the Kansiov Presidential Debate, with the host Grubb Jarworski. We are delighted to tell you that 4,897 people are in this National University of Kansiov lecture room and over 400 million people are watching this live. If you still have not submit your questions, please do so, we will not entertain questions that are submitted after 9.00pm (OCC: Ignore this).
Right now I will hand over the talk to Grubb Jarworski!"

"Thanks Aleksey, we are live at lecture room 4, the largest here in the National University of Kansiov and just before we start the show, we want to let the Russian-speaking viewers know that the translated version is also shown live on channel 4. Now before the candidates start answering your questions, we are going to ask them to introduce themselves. Starting from the right please, make it as short as possible."

Yuri Forlevski
"Hi, I am Yuri Forlevski, aged 64, father of 2. I am running for President of Kansiov."

Gory Rakiuski
"I am Gory Rakiuski, leading candidate of the Liberal Party running Presidency."

Boris Shamptov
"I am Boris Shamptov, running for President. I am aged 57, former Head Judge of the Kansiovian National Court, father of 3."

Graguski Popov
"Hi, I am Graguski Popov leader of the Kansiovian Socialist Alliance. I am running for President."

Grubb Jarworski
"Alright, those are the 4 candidates, like in any election, you decide which President will be in office next year. We have a lot of questions this year, and sadly we can't entertain all of them. We also have a few questions not from Kansiovians but outsiders which are also equally as important as those asked by Kansiovians. We shall start off with the topic "Foreign Affairs" our first questions comes from 34 year old Andre Juskiev, she asks, " Mr Attontov once said, 'Kansiovians first before the rest of the world' would you continue to such policy or would it change under your office. This questions goes out to all candidates."

Gory Rakiuski
"No, it will not change, in fact I would want to take a step further into saying that we would withdraw all 8,700 Kansiovian troops which are taking part in UN peacekeeping activities, and also stop sending aid, which accounts for $1.2 billion in our expenditures, which clearly could make a difference into a Kansiovian community, or giving out more Scholarships to help the poor, but bright students excel in their studies. Other Nations have their own problems, we have our own, we shouldn't disturb each other in that matter."

Yuri Forlevski
"The answer is no. However unlike our Mr Rakiuski, I will not withdraw peacekeeping troops, nor stop the flow of aid into countries which need them. However I would not send any more peacekeeping troops overseas nor give more aid, no more, no less."

Boris Shamptov
"I would have to disagree with the two gentlemen there, I believe we should move into a more active player in the UN. It gives us good relationships with other nations which is priceless. But of course we would 'experiment' or rather, test out this policy in the region of Nova, which is by the way, our region, before we move into a more Global Player."

"Sir, I am Phillip Wheat of the Brayton Times-Herald and my question is what is your stance on the role of the military in your nation and abroad?"

Graguski Popov
"The Military would be like all Militaries in charge of Defense, and possibly anti-terrorist roles. When I become President, the Kansiovian Military would not be in any conflict that is not of our interest, even if it involves genocide and mass murder. Those are for the UN to deal with, not Kansiov."

Yuri Forlevski
"I would like to make a statement there, so injustice acts, even if its not in our interest would go unheard off in Kansiov?"

Graguski Popov
"Yes"

Yuri Forlevski
"Then I would have to disagree with you, every human being in the world has rights, and rights not be be butchered. If your Ministry doesn't care, let me tell you, mine would"

Gory Rakiuski
"When I become President, I will make sure that the public and the National Assembly will approve, be it sending aid to another country. However I will not in my strong opinions to allow Kansiovian troops to be sent abroad to help fight other people's civil war unless they are a threat to us. But of course we will threadt every Economic and regional summit seriously."

Boris Shamptov
"I agree wil Rakiuski, I would do, under my office pull out all Kansiovian Troops abroad, be it in UN peacekeeping missions or the 6,000 Troops in the region. I say we pull them all out, lets not play ball games with other people's affairs unless they do something to us!"
