Meeting of Allies. [Gholgoth Minor]

The Crimm
08-11-2007, 19:01
Omar Pace looked over the grounds of the Governor's Mansion in Jericho. The new city was teeming with life.

All of it military.

Built in Gholgoth Minor to serve as a base of operations for Crimm and allied fleets, the city was not so much more than an extremely large military base. There were three over sized air stations, docks for three fleets, barracks for twice as many Marines as were stationed there and a small town for those with families and to provide a place that seemed 'off-base' to the Marines and Naval personnel.

Being the leader of Crimmond, one of the three founders of the Gholgoth alliance, Omar had decided that it was time to meet and take a good look at those whom he was now allied with in Gholgoth Minor. He had sent the invitations to the leaders and expected their arrival at the mansion soon.

In the meantime, he stood on a balcony outside the meeting chambers and watched the CSS Nod slowly exit the port and take to the open sea. Below him, several officers spotted him and saluted. He returned the salutes before going back inside to wait.

Aimless von Strangaild sat in his seat, quietly thinking to himself. He had never really been involved with a region before. Most of his allies resided in other area of world and never collectively like they did now. He looked out into the clouds as his minded wandered. Right now he was allied with some of the most powerful nations on the planet. Some praised his decision, saying it opened up new trade opportunities and new nations to form bonds with.

Of course there where the critics that said that Zackaroth was now cowering behind the might of Automagfreek and it's allies and saying that the nation was allied with a bunch of warmongering savages. There where no pleasing some people Aimless supposed. No matter what he would he do, there would always be opposition. It was just the fact of being a leader of nation or anything at all in fact.

OOC: I'm gonna skip over all that confirming stuff because I know how everyone hates that crap

IC: The plane landed in one of three airports of the city of Jericho. Aimless exited the plane carefully, using a cane now to get around. Apparently his old war wounds have started to catch up with him and the High leader was not as strong as he once was.

The hypersonic spaceplane reentered atmosphere, it's leading wing edges glowing red with the heat, but speed was bled off quickly and not that much later the crew was exchanging electronic handshakes with the controllers at one of Jericho's three sprawling airfields.

Minutes after that, the sleekly contoured spacebird was wheels down and following a jeep labeled 'Follow Me' to an assigned disembarkation point. Once it was parked and a stairway rolled up, the door swung open and a security type anonymous behind dark sunglasses and standard dark suit stepped out. He surveyed the area for a moment then disappeared back inside.

A tall man, slender but broad shouldered, his own eyes hidden behind shades stepped forth with two women hard on his heels. All three had dark hair, and one of the women was obviously of Japanese extraction, though her green eyes almost glowed in the white face paint she had masked her features behind. Her lips were a blood red hue, as was the quilted silk jacket and form fitting halter-top she wore. Her tight fitting black leather pants flared at the knees and fell over high-heeled black boots of soft suede.

The other woman was obviously Caucasian with fine, fair skin that showed off her deep blue eyes remarkably well. Her attire was similar but in reverse, jacket and halter top in black with deep crimson pants. Both women's hair was thick and worn long, falling almost to their trim waists. They moved with the grace of ballet dancers, or more importantly martial artists. Both carried swords slung diagonally across their backs and shoulder holsters holding Smith & Wesson 1911Sc's.

The man who led the way down was only slightly taller than the two women and in their heels they stood just over six foot. He was in a casual suit with a dark blue shirt and a bolo style string tie with featured a carved gold long horn skull head with ruby eyes, and the horns done in ivory. The jacket was a comfortable, well-worn sued jacket that hid his own shoulder holster. He carried no sword, however a tanto was on his belt. And if one were knowledgeable they would note on all three that the belt buckles were actually discretely concealed punch daggers.

They moved briskly down the ramp followed by three security types that all had their arms full of long slender sword cases.

Neither Sam, Tai, or Vic (http://www.atddm.com/trio.jpg) cared what other nations said about their decision to ally Neuvo Nihongo to Gholgoth Minor. Their people approved and that was enough for the ruling trio. Tai noted the other plane and the gentleman with a cane. "Sam-san, Vic, I think that man matches the photo in the dossier of Aimless von Strangaild."

"Tai, I think you are correct my dear" Sam Ravensclaw Houston replied looking the man with the cane over carefully. Then with his typical impulsiveness he strode over to the gentleman and offered his hand. "Mister von Strangaild? Howdy, I'm pleased to meet ya. I'm Sam Houston, outta Nueva Nihongo." The other hand pushed his glasses up so his dark brown eyes could be seen, then he brushed his shoulder length hair out of his face. Racially he seemed to be a mix of Caucasian, Native American and Japanese.

Aimless lifted his head up at the man that had come to greet him. “Ah. Hello there. It's nice to finally meet the people of the ones I am allied with. How do you do sir?" Aimless said, doing a small bow. The High Leader had on his customary robe that was to be worn to every diplomatic meeting and his specially made cane given to him by the troops he commanded long before he was the leader of Zackaroth. Like most of his people, Aimless had tanned skin and very Middle Eastern features. His brown eyes quickly surveyed the airfield, guessing that him and the Nueva Nihongos where the first to arrive.

“I see we are a bit early my friend. Shall we all head to the meeting place together? Perhaps on the way we can discuss our countries in detail and learn about them more" he said as he slowly continued down the ramp, heading to the limo that waited for them

Sam smoothly turned the extended hand into a palms together small bow of his own.

"Very well thanks you and I think riding together would be excellent. Trip was mercifully short, not that we're not used to it, as Nihongo sprawls a bit. " Sam waved the security people into trailing vehicles.

Tai stepped ahead and, with a curt nod to the chauffeur who'd thrown open the limo's rear doors, checked the interior thoroughly before stepping aside. Her eyes kept up a continuous sweep of the area, not neglecting any roof tops. She's started her career many years ago as a sniper for Nihongo's notorious Maskirovka, the nation's intelligence and black ops agency.

"You'll have to forgive Tai, she's very conscientious of proper security proceedures. That's her department within the Empire. Vic here handles international affairs" Sam said affably, semi introducing his two companions.

Both women gave the High Leader brief but respectful bows, and one rolled her eyes and spoke more formal introductions.

"You'll have to forgive Sam, he was born out on the range I think. I'm Lady Victoria Dominique McMasters, and this is Tai'shenn Kahane. Though in all seriousness Tai and Vic will do, please. We're only formal when a duel or a war is in the offing. And I hope that we come to neither here." Her smile was warmly friendly.

They had mitigated their naturally brisk long legged strides to match that of Aimless, and let him enter the limo at his own pace. Once he was in and settled they entered, gracefully managing not to crowd the High leader.

Omar received word that some of the delegates were arriving and knew that several vehicles awaited them. There was no grand tour route. All the delegates would simply be brought to the mansion and escorted to the meeting chambers, where Omar waited.

He was curious as to whether any other Gholgoth Major rulers would arrive or send delegations. It didn't matter, though. Omar knew the basics of Gholgoth by heart. As did all of the Imperial Brotherhood's people.

" I'm not as fast as I was in my younger age" chuckled Aimless. He had found it rather that funny that just last year he was helping overthrow a tyrant goverment that threatened to consume everything worked for and was now barely able to get around without his cane. He supposed it was bound to happen sooner or later. "So tell me a bit about your nation Vic. I myself have never regretfully never heard of it" Aimless said looking torwards the Lady. He quickly noted that it seemed as they where not going to be shown around the city, as the limo seemed to be heading straight for what he presumed the meeting place.

Tai gave him a compassionate glance as Aimless mentioned his age catching up with him. Then she seemingly turned her attention to watching their route dilligently. She too noted the directness of the route being driven, and it met with her silent approval.

Vic gave him an easy smile "Oh nothing to regret, we haven't exactly been a player on the world stage. We're a nation that started out as a bunch of odd lot refugees. And since most of our honored ancestors were sore loserrs from a variety of peoples we kept mostly to ourselves, making our own way. But now we've decided its time to look beyond our own borders. And I have to aoplogise in turn, I've been racking my brains, but other than a distressingly slender dossier, none of us know much about Zackaroth."

Sam nodded in agreement. "We've dealt with a few nations but it's time to expand. It can be hard can't it?" He asked frankly "Neither of us was raised to be man behind the desk where the buck stops."

Ah. No surprise there. Zackaroth isn't really one to make a name for itself. Sure we may have fought in some big wars but most of the time we play a small role. We have been apart of big alliances such as the Dominion Commonwealth and the UFAN but have stayed for long, the first one being disbanded and the second because we where inactive and felt it was straining on our..."resourceful" weaponry development. But this alliance shows promise and hopefully Zackaroth will be able to do what it seldom has, a stable alliance with another country" Aimless looking towards the three and smiling at them.

" I wonder how many delegates are showing up. There is us, Crimm obviously has one, but are any of the others going to show? Infact I also wonder of the big brother of this region will be sending people" Aimless said turning to the window, looking to see if any planes where just coming in or if any of the ports had a ship harboring.

It was so subtle that unless one was looking for it one would miss it, but a cascade of tiny nonverbal communication passed between the trio.

"I'd like to meet some of the Gholgothian nations, but they are rather reclusive. It'd be an honor but" Sam shrugged lightly "I know they've more pressing matters. And I hope we get a conference room full of delegates, I'd like to see some regional cooperation and trade."

Up ahead Tai could see the outline of a large mansion, growing closer with each revolution of the limo's wheels. She studied it carefully, wondering if it represented the taste of the man, one General Omar Pace, they were meeting. Or was it built wholely to some governmental regulation. To the observant, such knowledge, could provide great insights. Tai let her breath out slowly, settling herself deeper into calmness. Soon she would have more data to add to her ever growing base of knowledge.

"Your collar isn't too tight, your neck is too fat. More to the point, so's the rest of you."

Whatever witty retort was choked off, as Nathan Black got his top button forcibly closed around his large neck. Black rolled his eyes as he did up his tie, his hands brushing the four solid gold diamonds on his left collar, the rank insignia of a Commander of the Adejaani Military. He sighed ever so slightly: Were he in uniform, they would be on his chest, instead of an honorific on his collar.

I'm half thinking of scrapping the whole Diplomacy Ministry, Nathan. The only peace they've managed to accomplish is with their teddy bears. Castellan Fotheringown had told him in private with a sigh. I'm sending you to this meeting. I know: It seems odd to send the Military Minister to a Diplomatic meeting, but you're senior enough; you know my policies; you're qualified and you don't have time for BS. Besides, who would want to stare down a three hundred pound, bald, goateed African-American? Besides Amber could barely keep a straight face, we want to send a message that Adejaani is quite capable of throwing their weight around.

Black chuckled to himself at that. He still nominally held his rank of Commander in order to be placed in the chain of command as the Minister of the Military, the nominal senior civilian in charge of Adejaani's armed forces. However, he hadn't been able to see his feet for several years now, a consequence of finally settling down after a long and distinguished career.

"Do we know who else is showing up?" Black put on the suit jacket and made sure everything was as perfect as possible.

"No clue." Laura Cooper picked up the briefing folders, squinting slightly through glasses. "I see this mostly as a propaganda exercise. In between the traditional loot, pillage and rape of Gholgoth, we're trying to maintain that we're quite effette and we have readings of poetry and tea parties every Thursday. And don't forget our cake sales and doily craftmaking workshops."

Black chuckled at that and made a mental note to give Laura a pay rise when they got back. She'd been his aide-de-camp for the last decade, though she had earned her rank of her own accord. Dressed in the formal semi-dress charcoal shirt and black pants, her three solid silver diamonds above her left breast marked her rank as Captain, with a set of Aviator wings underneath.

"I promise to be on my best behaviour." Black smiled, then grinned. "I just how our reputation precedes us." Minutes later, the aircraft thumped down onto the runway.

Mercy stood between two hulking SOHAI troopers. Their giant black-clad figures stood in blatant contrast to the beautiful General in a pure white dress. She still wore her black beret, too much from habit that anything else.

So these were the kids, as she'd heard them called by another general back home. Each seemed to feel they had what it took to be Gholgothans. She knew that they would be tried and that their status would go from there. Damien (or Azrael, she'd only heard of the switch recently) seemed to know what he was doing, and Omar above appeared to have everything under control, but she knew that a Sigman's touch would be needed in this.

She put on her best smile and uncrossed her arms. She looked up at one of the behemoths guarding her and nodded. "Now I only want you two here to show the colors. These people aren't enemies. Don't kill them unless I order you to. Understood?"

SOHAI had never been a vocal bunch, and twin grunts were all that they replied with. She'd wished to have SOMI on this, her people, not these soulless beasts.

Ah well, they made her more visible, which she loved.

She took the time looking into the black reflective faceplate of the SOHAI to adjust the beret on her head, making sure the blood red moon of the flag was nice and even.

"Time to meet the kids."

As the delegates arrived, they would be brought into the meeting chambers. The smell of fresh paint hung faintly in the air, though the sea breeze coming from the many opened doorways removed most of it.

Omar was dressed in clothing that looked like he had dressed in the dark. A heavy great coat hung on his otherwise bare torso, allowing various scars and tattoos to show, over trousers that appeared to be part of the Crimm Marine uniform, atop heavy combat boots. To top it off, his right eye had paint around it to make it resemble the Eye of Ra. He'd make an impression alright... whether it was a good one remained to be seen.

Entering before any of the delegates got to the chambers was another man, in a standard Marine uniform. Any who had been looking at the recent rebellions in Crimmond would recognize the man as General Rayden Vorder, leader of the Imperial Special Task Force. A command that served a greater purpose than external defense: Ensuring the internal security and prosperity of the Empire by stamping out every spark of organized rebellion, no matter how small.

"General Vorder... I thought you might show up." Omar commented, standing briefly to shake his favored general's hand.

"I've completed the deployments you ordered, so I thought I might sit in. The Task Force is in total control of Jericho's security now. Several planes have arrived, two of which are from Gholgoth Major nations. Adejaani and Sigma Octavus." The younger General took a seat and looked at the dossiers that were sitting in front of most of the seats. "Planning on a full presentation, I see."

Omar chuckled. "Of course. As soon as they all get in here and sat down, They will find out exactly what they need to know about Gholgoth. And just how unique an alliance it is. Glad to have two old allies on board with us today, though... Three nations from Gholgoth Major meeting with them gives a much more friendly look than one speaking for all."

Vic cued in on Tai's almost meditateive state. Thye'd worked and played together long enough that they were like an old married couple...and Sam, well he was just down right scarey if one really knew. Her thoughts turned from the 'Head Honcho' as he was mostly called, to the instructions and plans-in-place that had been settled on just in case they didn't come back.

Some people liked to mutter - very discretely and only after checking to see if there were any shadows within earshot - that they only thought they were indespensible. None of the three thought that, they knew that Nihongo would go on without them. But it was useful to let others think they thought they were. By Baast I sound like one of Tai's midlevels. Plans within plans and more tangled desception than the Byzantines were ever credited with. I wonder if Azrael will be there...but more importatly is he saner than his father is? She didn't let a single one of her thoughts show on her face. It was a skill she had aquired long before she'd ever learned to play poker.

Sam knew what VIc was thinking, and his smile altered not one whit. He nodded to a plane coming in on final approach. "Perhaps other arrivals for the convocation" He commented as the limo pulled into the circular driveway before the Governor's Mansion and came to a halt.

The limo stopped and the door was opened for them. Aimless got out and stretched out his limbs a bit. A bit to cramped in there for his tastes. He patted down his robe and made his way to the door. He nodded to the people that seemed to be waiting for them to arrive and was lead straight to the meeting chambers. As he entered, he looked at the man that seemed to be waiting for them. He looked at the man's attire and noticed that he seemed to be showing off his many battle scars. A man who seemed to pride himself in battles he fought. Aimless respected people like and inwardly smile. He had a feeling he would be getting along just fine with these nations.

“Hello there sir. As you already know, I am Aimless von Strangaild, High Leader of Zackaroth. Its is nice to finally meet with a rep from the main Gholgoth roster" he said, doing a small bow of respect.

"If we get bored, we can always watch the paint dry."

Behind him, Laura Cooper only grunted as they entered the large meeting chambers. Surprisingly, it was only Black himself and Laura, half a step to the right and two steps behind. Her attache case held only a handful of pens, two paper notepads (one for him, one for her); plus the scrambled satellite phone.

It was surprising in the fact that usually, most senior government officials travelled with an entourage. But Black travelled alone, for between him and Laura, it was enough. Plus, for security, should anything happen, most of his security clearance and authentication codes had been suspended temporarily.

"Quite a fine collection we have here." Black noted more to himself than anything, already adding to the mental notes and sizing the other delegates up, for inclusion in intelligence files. His eyes flickered briefly around, then stood at parade rest until things got under way.

Sam, Tai, and Vic had entered the conference room at a pace to match that of the Zackaroth leader. Courtesy was highly valued in Nihongo, and to leave him behind would have been highly discourteous. Besides the slower pace gave them a chance to look the Governor's Mansion over quite thorougholy.

The trio had waited until High Leader Von Strangaild had finished to introduce themselves, taking in the room with obervant eyes in calm faces that gave little way. Filing their impressions away for later discoussion, they stood erect but relaxed.

Sam spoke for the three, greeting General Pace and the other Crimm General, one Rayden Vorder, in a respectful, but confident manner, an easy smile on his face. "General Pace, Geneneral Vorder, it is a great pleasure to meet both of you. I'm Sam Houston, this is Lady Victoria Dominique McMasters," He introduced first the blue eyed beauty. "and this is Tai'shenn Kahane." He presented the lady with jade eyes next. "We speak for Nihongo." He offered a hand, but was ready to turn it into a palm to palm bow such as he had given Aimless earlier, if the the Crimm Leader showned no inclination to shake hands.

Vic waited to see how the General would rrespond to Sams offer of a handshake before she did more than murmur a musical voiced "Honored to meet you General Pace, General Vorder"

Tai had looked at both men frankly, her eyes meeting theirs, bold but not challenging and said nothing. However after a second of inspection, she had given a respectful deep nod of her head to General Pace. As she raised her head from the nod, a faint but distinct, white scar line of an old but near fatal wound could be seen encircling her throat. Normally it was hidden by the wide crimson silk choker she wore about her neck, but the movement had dislodged it slightly and until it settled back into its accustomed place it could be seen by those she was facing.

"What is it?!" demanded the President, clearly annoyed at the intrusion into his office. It was only 9 in the morning, the day was just beginning, and already there were problems. Nathan Ruthorn knew when there were problems in his country, because that's when people came to see him. That's when these young, working-class whelps that called themselves "Minister" burst through his lovely oak door waving something they thought was important. Normally it was the days casualty reports for the Yellow and Orange zones, and he was rarely treated with news of international events that he could pretend to care about.

"It's a regional meeting, Sir, it's already started," quivered the young Minister, holding out the envelope to the President as one would meat to a crocodile.
"So what?" asked Ruthorn bluntly.
"So... it would be nice of us to send a delegation. An ambassador, at least! These are some very influential people we're dealing with."
"Nice? It would be nice?!" spat the President, before sitting down quietly and straightening his tie. "I see your point, I'll send someone to organise it once I've finished my breakfast."

With that note the Minster deposited the unopened envelope on his desk, and promptly left, leaving the President to eat his breakfast at his desk while he read the newspaper, as was his custom. He sighed, on one side of him were the revolutionaries; holed up somewhere in the Orange Zone like the crafty bastards they were, and on the other side were his Generals. His Generals weren't crafty, but they thought the revolutionaries were a figment of his imagination. They were desperate, and if something didn't happen soon then they might start to turn against him...

***

"So who will I be meeting?" asked a man so elderly that he could have been a corpse in a suit. He was easily of eighty or ninety years, and none of these had been favourable to him. Sporadic white hair clung to his head defiantly, and his pale blue eyes were in between inch-thick glasses and a sieve-like brain. He was the shell of a once-great General, the military genius within had long since vacated the premises. He was General Whitman... well, he was what was left of General Whitman. His attendant sighed, pointing to the open dossier that the General was holding.
"It's all in there, you can read it on the plane. We don't know who exactly is attending, but there is some information there on where they're from."

The General stood with the support of his long wooden cane, the light glinting off the marks of rank attached to his suit. In this simple civilian attire stood a man who was once like a god among mortals. There had been no grey area with General Whitman; you either feared him or you hadn't met him. Now he was lucky to receive pity from his companions. Despite his current form however, the General had an unrivalled service history. The old man had declined his full set of medals because their weight made breathing difficult.

The initial plan had been so send the General and a minder on a regular passenger plane, but the recent declaration of martial law had thrown every travel service into chaos. Instead, as is was only a short flight to another nation within Gholgoth Minor, they had set aside a military transport helicopter instead. It took off in the early afternoon with the aim of arriving in the evening. The General, despite his age, sat bolt upright and awake, although this was more a fear of flying than any trace of vigour. The steady drone of the helicopter's rotors made no difference to the conversation on board, as the aide was a very quiet man and the General was as deaf as a post regardless.

Omar and Vorder sat at the head of the table for a time, watching the delegates arrive. Neither said anything to the group yet, but did carry on a short private discussion, apparently speaking about first impressions of the groups. Omar did nod politely to those that greeted him, but it was obvious he wanted his opening words to be for the group.

Once all of the delegates, including those from Agrandov, had arrived and it was clear that there was unlikely to be any more than one or two stragglers, Omar decided it was time to get this meeting underway.

Both Omar and Vorder stood slowly, with Vorder stepping away to make Omar center of attention, more so than he already was.

"Gentleman and ladies of Gholgoth Minor... you are all representing nations that are more or less obscure on the grand stage of the world. The nations of Adejaani, Sigma Octavus and Crimmond," gesturing to those delegations and himself in turn, "are here to do more than just welcome allies. We're here to thank you for choosing a destiny that will not only make your own nations powerful and prosperous, but will strengthen Gholgoth as a whole.

"You are all most likely ignorant of what Gholgoth is, beyond a collection of powers that has a very bloody history. We are more than just an Alliance like NATO. We are a brotherhood of nations that support one another without question. There are no 'ministers' of various committees or international offices. There is no hierarchy, for the most part. If I had to impose one, I would say that is goes, top to bottom..." Raising his hand to eye level, then dropping it an inch as he goes down the list. "Automagfreek... the rest of us. Damien was the brainchild of Gholgoth and Azrael is his equal in many ways. Neither commands Gholgoth like we are servants or pawns. Automagfreek is merely the first among equals. The nation that recognize as being the best at speaking for the alliance."

Omar smiles, which is an odd thing for him to do, if one knew him. "And where does Gholgoth Minor fit into this mix? Just slightly below Gholgoth Major. Why? Because none of your nations have proven to us that you are our equals. We would like nothing more than for Gholgoth Minor to be as powerful as Gholgoth. To be as respected as Gholgoth. And that is why you are all here. You wish to be that. It is not an easy road to traverse, but you will have Gholgoth's full support as you do so."

He looked outside, where several naval ships could be seen moving about in the distance. Two Supremacy class submarines were just starting to leave the docks. Above were two aerofighters, cruising along the coast at a medium altitude.

"As you can see, Jericho is position strategically to defend from any foolish enough to try an invasion. It is but the first of such 'cities' that Gholgoth will build and will provide space for military forces outside your own borders. If any of you come under any sort of attack, the forces at Jericho and other installations, as well as those of Gholgoth itself, shall spring forth to defend you."

Looking back at the group, he retook his seat. "I know that some of you are undoubtedly disappointed that Automagfreek or Pantera chose not send delegations to this meeting. I am not, however. As I said, we respect AMF enough to let the Freeks speak for the rest of us much of the time, but every nation of Gholgoth should feel equally able to speak out. We all know what Gholgoth stands for... and we are all very pleased to have had such a response to our offer. Nations of Gholgoth Minor... welcome to your new home."

His opening speech completed, he calmly awaited the comments and questions from the delegations, knowing that they would all wish details. Particularly in the economic area, which he had purposefully left out. Had he addressed every aspect of the alliance right at the start, there would be no chance at all to have a back and forth conversation. No chance to really find out who these new allies were. Vorder retook his seat as well, seeming slightly impressed with the speech, but not too much so.

The trio had listened attentively, commiting what the Crimm General had said to memory, and making evaluationary guesses as to what he had left unsaid. Again the miniscule signals, nonverbal communication, flashed between them. Hand- go had been developed from one of their 'native' languages and was therefore unique and untranslatable by outsiders, if they even noticed it.

Vic waited almost a minute, waiting to see if either the well past his expiration date General Whitman, who had arrived to represent Agrandov; or High Leader Von Strangaild would spring up. Though in both cases that springing up would be purely metaphorical. When they did not, she stood in a fluid but unhurried move and addessed General Pace.

"Thank you for the welcome General. And I can say that yes we are somewhat disappointed" but her voice made it clear that she in no way considered Crimm as any sort of inadequate host, a second or lesser choice. For they weren't. Nihongo had followed the news of the Crimm actions in the late conflict between Automagfreek and British Londinium, and held the Crimm in highest respect due to those actions. "that neither Pantera or Automagfreek were able to attend, but then again Nihongo would have been surprizeded- pleased yes, but still surpirzed if they had. We have yet to prove ourselves to Gholgoth Major." Her speech was many accents blended in to an unique but harmonious whole.

The revelation of the workings of Gholgol were not that great a surprize or unfamiliar concept to the Nihongand. The 'band of brothers' mentality was a strong one in their nation, as was 'first among equals', and 'variable leadership'. Depending on the situation, the one whose skills covered what had to be accomplished was the one who led. An Nuevo Nihong had never chosen the easy road, it wan't in their natures.

However might I ask" She paused for a second her gaze sweeping over those in the room then out the window to inspect, for just a moment, the military might of Jerico, then moving on to rest that vivid blue gaze on Pace.

"You say that you, and of course I mean Gholgoth as a whole, will protect us. But sir, what if we wish to stand along side you in that defense? We many not have the reputations of Automagfreek, Pantera, Crimm and the others of Gholgoth. However we of Nihongo do have a superb military, well financed, and well trained. True the small brush wars we've fought in no way match the arena's you have have won your spurs in, we have won all of them decisively" Her voice wasn't challenging just confidently matter of fact. "Would we be welcome there?

Nihongo's economy was strong, and it could be better, But then again whose couldn't Vic thought as she waited to see what response her question would bring. But power and allies such as these bring enemies, and we don't want all our protection, our defense, given to us, handed to us on a Gholgothian platter. Let us help, let us earn respect her thoughts continued behind a serene face.

"Well..."

Black stood up, brushing down his tie and jacket, not quite aware that it was a stall tactic while he got his thoughts in line. He also looked around, making eye contact with one and all before he let his deep, lecturer's voice fill the room.

"Ladies and gentlemen. I'll amend that. My allies, my friends..." Black took a deep breath. "If there was ever any doubt of the respect of each of your nations, or the strength of will of your respective nations' leaders and its citizens, we would not be here.

"So what if we're a Major or a Minor? We would willingly spill the blood of our enemies and ourselves bleed for one another. The mere fact that while some of the more..." Black gave an apologetic look to the Major delegates "prominent members of Gholgoth Major, no offence to my esteemed colleagues are not present does not mean they do not respect you.

"Despite our joined destinies, we are all nations with difficulties and burdens. I have no doubt that what perceived lack of respect you may feel, I feel you are respected and together, we're rubbing shoulders, as equals.

"Let me just say, though, Minor's members actually has an advantage over Major's members." Black chuckled: "You don't have to deal with the tinpot dictators and the BS that comes with running a large organisation. You will all reap the benefits without the headaches of diplomacy and statecraft on the highest levels."

Black bowed and sat down.

Aimless sat in the chair listening to the benefits of being a Ghologoth Minor. The increased defense militarily and psychologically where great but he needed to know about the economic advantages of being a Ghologoth Minor nation. He slowly got up, using his cane as support.

“The promise of help in case of an invasion is a great advantage to have. But let us all hope the time never comes where our homeland is threatened by the forces of other nations. I would like to bring up the question on what are the economic advantages of being apart of Ghologoth Minor. We all know that we would get help militarily from the main group but I do not think many of us know the economic benefits of being a Ghologoth Minor nation” The High leader said before he nodded his head his head and sat back down again.

It was like he had said, military was a given if you where allied with the Ghologoth nations. That’s why many wanted to be allied with them. But Aimless suspected the benefits for a nations economy may also be extremely good if they where allied to the nations in Ghologoth Major.

Vorder answers before Omar can, nodding slowly at Black's words. "If any Gholgoth Minor nation wishes to commit forces to the defense of any Gholgothan nation, no matter of Major or Minor, we would be more than willing to accept the assistance. Defense goes both ways."

Omar didn't seem to mind his General's answer, instead leaning forward to speak to Aimless. "The economic benefits of Gholgoth are many. With some of the best economies in the world backing the alliance, we are in a position to assist in strengthening your own. I speak only for Crimmond in this statement, but I would be willing to adjust prices of imports and exports with your nations so that you are the favored party. You are all strong nations, or you would not be here. But Gholgoth nearly constantly butts heads against groups that require stable economic, military and political spheres." The last part was the main problem with Crimmond. Every few years, it seemed a new faction took power. Amazingly, all but one were loyal to Gholgoth. "While we will always respect your sovereignty and your individual national rights, we will also intertwine ourselves in some manner or another with your own nations, always with the purpose of strengthening each member nation so that the body is nothing short of a powerhouse in every area."

Sam had wondered briefly why Minister of the Military Black had so thoroughly expounded on respect. Vic spoke of being slightly disappointed, not disrespected. We might ought ta consider ourselves lucky that any came. He thought as he gave a mental shrug.

Vic listened to Black's sonorous rolling voice with as small smile gracing her lips. Oh he has a wonderful voice. I think I could listen to it for hours. Shall I collect that voice and keep it to listen to when ever I so choose...or would that be a nono? Her intense blue eyes hid her thoughts comepletely, and her face was nothing but attentive listening.

But Sam knew that look and his eyes flicked to Victoria to study her intently for just the barest instant. His lips tightened fractionally. It never hurt having ones own personal sociopath, but one had to be ever so careful of their care and feeding. He'd known exactly what he was doing when he'd brought her to his hand. The ever so well bred, highly educated, vastly sophisticated, and oh so very lethal Lady McMaster was one of his most prized assets.

"If any Gholgoth Minor nation wishes to commit forces to the defense of any Gholgothan nation, no matter of Major or Minor, we would be more than willing to accept the assistance. Defense goes both ways.

That the trio took quietly pleased note of and Sam made a mental note to get with Vorder later and discuss what Nihongo could contribute. With four pairs of ONeal i3 habitats, a bean stalk close to being finished That had killed too many Citizens Sam's thoughts flashed sour for a moment then turned away at Pace's last comment.

"General, we of Nihongo have what in the Amercan South was called the 'peculiar institution', or more bluntly put, slavery.. Is that going to be a problem?" Sam's voice was calm, meeting Pace's eyes squarely but within he was as tense as a gunfighter in the middle of the street at noon. This had been a sticking point with other nations, and it was a sensitive subject that had to be dealt with as early in the dance as possible.

He felt rather than saw Tai ready herself of so subtilely for what ever might come.

Slavery? That made one of Omar's eyebrows slide upwards a bit. "I was unaware you were involved in such practices." He leaned back and scanned his memory. It had been some time since Gholgoth had been involved with such distasteful practices. It normally did side against them. But there might well be room to move despite this... "Dreadfire was a great proponent of destroying the slave trade. Crimmond has a history of attacking such nations as well. I do not believe that we have ever done more than voice disapproval of a nation holding slaves, though. going out and conquering for the purpose of enslaving, or becoming part of an international slave trade, however... that will not be viewed well." A small pause.

"This is an issue that I am unsure about. The last nation of Gholgoth to hold slaves was... the United Tribes. And we did not have to address the issue as th Charr had freed the enslaved humans in their nation prior to entering the alliance. I would suggest setting that issue aside for the moment, until a consensus can be arrived at about what the alliance's stance on slavery actually is."

" Unless of course they are enslaved because they have commited great crimes against the goverment, much like our system. You see if anyone commits the crime of rape, murder, big time theft, or get life in prison they are moved to a work camp where they farm, dig in the mines or other various tasks. While of course they are treated like humans they are not compenstated for work and those who do not work do not eat. But during that little slave trading crisis awhile, Zackaroth got word itself that kind of forced labor is not looked down upon. The other version of kidnapping or conquering other people is the one that Damien DreadFire sought to get rid of. So if it's the first version I metioned, I think there should be no problem" The High Leader said facing the trio now.

He remebered the stir that had caused. He was not the High leader, his son taking his place. Many people where worried that Zackaroth would bow to Freek pressure and realse the prisoners, while others where scared that Zackaroth would keep it's system and end up in a war against the dreaded Freeks. Aimless was glad nothing came from that, for at the time his son was not strong enough to rule Zackaroth.

Sam relaxed slightly and gave a subtle go signal to Tai. She not only headed Security but Economics, for in Nihongo at least they were inextriciably intertwined.

Tai stood with a small bow towards the others. Her voice was little more than a whisky and honey whisper but it carried well. Looking at the Zackarothian High Leader "Thank you, Ser Von Strangaild. That is the right of it, mostly. We do practise penal slavery, and save for at our founding we do not conquer for slaves, nor do we sell our slaves or buy from the international slave trade." Her face was briefly a study in distaste. "We have data chips that detail the very stringent laws that protect the rights of inherited slaves and penal slaves that I will make available to any interested after the conference. but for now, yes, tableing it would probably be the wisest." She gave General Pave a respectful nod and returned to her seat.
