MAC ANU-In a landmark legislation event Gay Marriage is officially legalized within the Queendom and All it's Jurisdictions. RPB # 1487 proposed by noted Lesbian Grand Dutchess of the Royal Parliament and law maker Marina Antonioni which has been in debate for over a year was finally passed 120-97 on Monday.

"For long, I have struggled to get my bill the attention it deserves," said Grn.Dutc. Antonioni "And finally it was recognized, voted and passed on." Marina presiced her bill despite threats of motioning for a veto and for her removal from the stand. Neither Queen Akoowa nor Princess Akoowa have plans to Veto the bill or remove her from her position. "I'm more than greatfull the bill passed." Said Marina's spouse Admiral Dutch Payton, who also helped advocate the bill.

Homosexuality in Aqua Anu isn't as open as one may think. While the tolerance rate is exceptionally high for this conservative state, the status has always been low. Homosexuality was first outlawed in the Queendom in 1720, by Queen Dutch Churchill I. Churchill was a strong Catholic and belived strongly in purity and tradtion of the nation. In 1965 Princess Rosette Hillard urged her mother to legalize it. What Queen Hillard didn't know was her adopted daughter Rosette was her self a Lesbian. When Rosette died of a drug overdose Hillard attempted to legalize Gay marriage but with great opposition from the people. Instead she legalized Civil Unions and kept many of the old restrictions in place.

Now with this new legalization of Marriage, gay and lesbian couples can get a marriage license adopt children and be recognized under the law as legit partners.

"I'm very happy," said lesbian Mona Evans. "If my partner (who is an industrial water worker) ever had to go to the emergency room, I was never allowed to stay with her, I had to wait, but if it was a different gender couple they could stay as long as they like and get all the information they wanted. "

To surprise Princess Subaru, a devout Catholic, posed no opposition to the bill. "It's our desire to make this a democratic state with plenty of civil liberties. As long as no harm is done, (which none ever is by homosexual couples) I see no reason to stop it." Of course her Agnostic mother could be expected to not oppose it either. "Stop blending religion and politics, my daughter doesn't, why should you?" She grumpily told Aqua Today.

On the flip side those that are opposed to it think the Queendom is going to hell in a hand basket. "We need to maintain order," says concerned mother "How can we if we don't keep tradition alive?" "First gay marriage, then we'll be murding children with abortion." Says Pastor.

Without a doubt Aqua Anu is changing. Some say it's good, others bad. Maybe one day the monarch will be no more, some are wondering.

The Soviet Republic of Southeastern Greenland congratulates this move toward equality and justice for all people. The issue of gay rights is no less important than any other rights, and this is a step towards achieving those rights. Homosexual and bisexual people have the right to marry people of the same sex and have children, no matter what the bigots think about it.

We congratulate the government of Aqua Anu in legalizing the right of homosexuals to marry.

However, we warn them of going to far, to the point of allowing men into female bathrooms, classifying mention of heterosexual marriage to a homosexual as "sexual harassment", and other such ridiculous laws that other nations have passed. Everyone has the right to engage in their own sexuality and interpersonal unions. But none should have unnecessay provisions made for them that are counterproductive to society.

King William V Salisbury briefly skimmed the first couple paragraphs of the article. After all, politics were quite boring to him, so he only wanted to know enough about it to hold an intelligent conversation with Lord Sebastien when he arrived. Such a conversation began shortly afterward.

“Have you read through the cuttings from foreign papers that I left for you, my liege?” asked Lord Sebastien.

“Yes, Jan, I found them quite interesting. There was one there that was shocking to me, however. I forgot which one.”

“Aqua Anu?”

“Yes! That was the one. Shocking and really quite horrible it was.”

“It is indeed quite disconcerting.”

“Quite disconcerting, quite horrifying, and absolutely un-Christian.”

“But of course, my liege.”

“And you must write them at once and tell of William V Salisbury’s great displeasure.”

Their conversation grew deeper and the following letter was produced and sent.

To the Appropriate Official of the Government of Queen Akoowa,

His Majesty, King William V Salisbury, and I have both read of your recent “legalization of gay marriage” act, and, since there is simply no more prudent way of saying this, it has revealed the true nature of your arbitrary and tyrannical despotism. Know that His Majesty is most perturbed by this news and it causes him great distress.

The source of this distress is quite understandable. While I suppose His Majesty is actually glad that “gay marriage” has been officially legalized, such a notion implies that it has hitherto been illegal in your state. It is then easy for the mind to wonder what other draconian laws your government currently has instituted.

It is also disturbing that in your legislative body, 97 presumably sane individuals voted against such a proposition. I would not even expect such a figure from a Mohammaden state, let alone the Christian one that you claim to be.

What lawful, Christian monarch would be opposed to a Christian couple being gaily wed? His Majesty recognizes that your monarch no longer does, however he notes that this is only a recent development.

If there is a strange tradition in the culture of your nation that a couple ought be somberly wed, then that might be understandable. However, His Majesty doubts this to be the case, and any other arbitrary laws that remain registered in your state shall, for the good of your people, be repealed forthwith.

Signed,
The Rt Hon. Jan Sebastien, Lord Chancellor

The 96 Crowns can only wonder what kind of chaos could ensue from that.

But surely you don't consider mentioning marriage in front of a Lesbian "sexual harassment"? And you don't ban texbooks that mention marriage in a heterosexual sense only, even if it is not being used as a definition of marriage?

We understand that some extremely sensitive homosexuals may be "offended" by such comments, but it is ridiculous to have laws passed to protect their feelings. It hinders freedom of speech, freedom of print, and the freedom to hold a conversation in public without being sued.

All rooms have been Unisex since...Forever. With the ever shrinking space on the islands they must make room and keep room. The Royal Government has long seen the segregation of males and females a pointless one.

Though what difference does that do against common human urge and primal instinct? Do not tell me your people are a people of dolls and machines whom ignore their base urges through skillful curbing.

Marriage was legalized, who said anything about restricting slanderous statements. The Government can't stop those that decide to slenderize. The mention of marriage does not constitute sexual harassment and never has regardless.

Good to know that there are more nations that don't restrict freedom for the ego of a select group.

-EDIT-
We apologize if our terms seem harsh and homophobic. We have legalized homosexual marriage as well.
