OPERATION CRUSADE: Liberation of Kazakhstan

The morning of the day was an unusual feeling of de-ja-vu for most of the national army veterans who were among units preparing for the invasion of Cotland a year ago. They knew once the orders were given that it would mean a future of hell, their experiences running through their minds preparing them for what was to come. Battle hardened veterans made up most of the armed forces, other then that were drafted 17 year olds and volunteers who had no idea they’d go to war.. The chosen amount of men in every division apart of the operation had begun, that morning, to load up and prepare to head out on the long trip toward the border…

Tanks, trucks, jeeps and large mobile artillery pieces neared the border. For the past four months Nerotikan forces had been mobilizing units all across the border slowly so as to not alarm anyone in anyway, all in an effort to prepare for this invasion. The hush tone of the topic discussed over the top secret stamp on an envelope marked ‘Operation Crusade’. It was decided and now the operation was underway with the push of 20,000 troops over the Kazakhstan border, lines of armored mobile units drove in a large single fine line with two lines of marching troops. The Mobile unit would arrive first with the infantry marching in to provide an immediate reinforcement.

This large invasionary force was the 1st Army Division a part of the National Army and would be recorded as the first unit to cross the border in this operation. Heading the invasion was a lead of the 5,000 strong from the 21st Marine Division, this unit would be the 1st Divivion’s main striking force, the Armored Brigade of 30 M1T3 MBT’s, a Main Battle Tank system designed by the soviet military industry. The M1T3 would give the invading force speed at a high of 50 MPH and strength with a defensive 144mm cannon and a .50 caliber mounted mg if needed against enemy armed forces. Side-by-side with this MBT drove the infantry squads that would deploy on a clearing mission to rid the roads of enemies, the 1st division on arrival would clear out the buildings. In an effort to reduce civilian crossfire squads are ordered to patrol to the end of the city limits and create a blockade, these squads road in J1 armored jeeps with an amount of 5 piled into the 60 J1’s the infantry unit of 300 became a quick attack force to clear the city within hours of arrival.

To support the infantry are 50 M2T1 IFV’s carrying 450 marines prepared for the worst of combat just in case. The M2T1 IFV is primarily armed with a 25mm automatic cannon firing 600 rounds per minute, with 200 rounds of ammunition stored in the turret ready to fire. Two 7.62mm NATO machine guns are also installed in the turret, one mounted coaxial with the main gun. Five rifle ports, two on each side on the hull and one in the rear are provided to allow troops inside to use their personal weapons if needed. The IFV’s provided more then enough security in the small city the unit was nearing.

Even before the unit spread into its sectioned advancing march 10 UAV’s flew themselves over the enemy city and below that were 45 Mobile Artillery unit’s finding positions to give artillery support to the invading unit’s. The artillery units were covered by three jeeps to every 5 artillery pieces, this provided infantry support to protect the units under any enemy attack from police units or military squads. In all the invasion would go off quick, the border was relatively unguarded from the Nerotikan point giving the Kazakh’s under the Fourth Reich to trust their neighbors giving enough reason to not spend the money on the cost to protect the giant border of the two nations. This gave the invading division almost clear entry into their neighbor with only a checkpoint where the guards were captured before the division crossed over.

As the 1st Division moved on Petropavlovsk using the M-51 highway elsewhere divisions began to gear up and move on their designated positions. The 5th Division, also with an invasion force from the 21st division, mobilized on the M-39 en route for Kustanaj, the invasion unit outlined the same standards as the 1st divisions did, the units would comprise of the same amount of men, equipment and armor. The 7th and 8th divisions would mobilize once a defense operation is done by the Kazak’s, this would allow plenty of reinforcements and several units for invasionary waves over the long border into almost any city across it as well as the ability to bulk up forces.

Every marine in this invasion was fully armed. Each man had an armament of six grenades of their choice, an HK416 assault rifle one clip in and two clips to the side. Their sidearm was a Colt .45 with two extra clips and one loaded in. Along with this the Marines had a special system different from that of their national army comrades, the NMBS. The NMBS is an adapted version of the former soviet states battle system, this battle system applies a new version of GPS that uses a modern image of the field and UAV information to paint a picture of the designated zone for all the squad leaders as well as a communications system integrated into the uniforms allowing for clear channels making squad communications simple as well as hard to tap. The system also incorporated a Kevlar suit that covered the chest and parts of the arms and legs leaving only the elbow and knee’s which were covered by elbow pads and knee pads. All of this along with a standard Kevlar helmet made for a soldier prepared for combat at the highest degree.

While the divisions geared up elsewhere air bases of the 21st, 22nd and 23rd Northern Marine Corps. Divisions were preparing the 75 KA-50 attack helicopters to be deployed immediately as air support and the 320 M40B bombers to be deployed across Kazakhstan later in operations, as this is a liberation move the bombers have only military targets and will avoid civilian casualties as much as possible. Along with the bombers were 130 MiG-71’s able to drop 540 strategically placed bombs altogether and ahead of that were 20 lead planes that would drop flyers saying the following:

Attention All: Evacuation in Effect!
The Council State of Nerotika has seen it fit to liberate this nation and all its people in an effort to give them a local government. All people affected by this evacuation are allowed sanctuary in the State of Nerotika at arrival on the border you will be directed to a camp where you will be given food, cloths and any other material needed. When your home town/city is declared apart of the green zone you will be allowed to leave the camp and go back to your homes, we will provide supplies until the area is stable.

This is not an act of war only of liberation, we will keep all areas as safe as possible and will see to it that no harm is done to anyone that cooperates.

Once the flyers fell the MiG’s entered officially as UFO’s in the Kazak airspace, the stealth capabilities and the low-flying tactic proving impossible for radars to track the MiG’s movements. These MiG’s had several targets across the land, military bases near the border and along the coast of the Caspian sea but mainly in the cities.
[Kazakhstan]
Petropavl
Pavlodar
Qostanay
Oral
Aqsay
Aktyubinsk
[Turkmenistan]
Bekdash
Krasnowodsk
Esenguly
The Target list included cities along the border of the invading force along with cities along the coast of the Caspian sea that would provide easy access for invading forces, military bases in or around the cities would be hit leaving the local police force untouched, the police would have the choice to either stay and defend as apart of the Fourth Reich or turn and aide the Nerotikan force and its infantry in taking control and stabilizing the cities.

In an effort to keep civilian casualties low the lead artillery units would not have permission to fire unless fired upon or they are given permission on specific targets. The bombing unit would not deploy until enemy forces have gathered for retaliatory attacks, this unit is devoted to bombing outside of cities meaning any attack on the enemy will only be delivered outside of city limits.

Public Address from Chairman Darinsky

The camera turned on and every television in the nation was now tuned to the man in front of a long table outlined with shadows of figures, this was the congressional council and the man in the center of the screen was Chairman Darinsky. He cleared his throat and spoke with a deep tone of confidence and strength.

“People of this great nation, it is with both a heavy heart and a strong spirit that I inform you that this morning military operations began an invasion of the neighboring colony of Kazakhstan under The Fourth Reich. We do so in an effort to liberate our neighbors from distant government and give them a local government as well as a unity to our nation. This endeavor may cost the lives of many soldiers all of whom are willing to fight for this worthy cause.

“The Kazak people do not deserve to be under the control of The Fourth Reich, they deserve better and we feel that it is our duty to help gain freedom in a neighbor state that requires it. We have not declared war against The Fourth Reich and are prepared to do so though if war is declared on us. Also we have reinforced the defenses across the cottish border in an effort to deter invasion from cotland.

“As it has been only a short while sense the establishment of our nation we ask that our people conserve all food consumption and water usage and support the troops, if things get out of control I ask that we do not sit and wait for our draft number and instead will join to protect our nation as no one wants to see land taken away as we all know how the cots treat their people.

“So I ask that you pray for our soldiers going into combat and I inform you that we will do our best to limit casualties. This is all a good cause and so people of Nerotika as chairman of this council I bid you good-bye.”

The screen goes black, a few words from the chairman and the people’s pride in their nation grew.

Germania Declares War on the Nerotikan State!

"Today, the territory of Kazakhstan - not a colony of the Fourth Reich - was attacked by Nerotikan forces. So far, the Nerotikan forces have yet to penetrate the border into Kazakhstan as hundreds upon hundreds of Kormoran-III and Kormoran-IV Cruise Missiles were fired at enemy IFVs, tanks, and mobile artillery pieces [a total amount of 3.000 cruise missiles]. A force of some 800 SBF-111 stealth fighters, 500 FkZ-2 Air Superiority Fighters, and 700 Bz-90 Stealth Bombers were able to launch a massive air assault on Nerotikan air and ground forces along the border.

"Protecting Kazakhstan from invasion were 6 Mechanized Infantry Divisions consisting of 30.000 combat soldiers and 15.000 support personnel, accompanied by 120 Panzer-IX Main Battle Tanks, 150 Panzer-X four-barreled 88mm Multi-Purpose Assault Vehicles, 160 K.Panzer-IV IFV's [8 infantry each], 90 Predator AAAVs [12 infantry each]. Further inland, the German 1st Army was waiting in case the Nerotikan forces broke through the border.

"In Turkmenistan, the border was guarded by the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th German Armies along with over 4.000 Cottish Infantry and their armored support.

"In the Caspian Sea, the 19th and 21st Reichsmarine Divisions were activated in case of a sea attack. The fighting had started and the Nerotikan-German war had begun..."

OOC: Nero says the troops are over the border, NG says they've yet to cross it.

This one's starting off well. I'm going to set up an OOC thread for this RP on the offsite forums, simply because I can foresee many issues arising....

The Fuhrer's Office, Hirgizstan City, CV

The Fuhrer put one of the red phone's back into its cradle. There were six red phones on the edge of the Fuhrer's desk, each one a direct line to a TOA head of state.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, a stern faced greying Marine Corps General, sat waiting in front of the desk.

Once the phone was done the Fuhrer fixed his eyes on the General, "That was Der Fuhrer. Its official, they're at war with the CSN. He has ordered what is in effect a full mobilization. We need a response of our own General."

The General shifted forward slightly in his chair, "My Fuhrer, since the Nerotikan's began their tricks a few days ago we have been working on scenarios and organizing forces should this situation become serious. My first response would be to go to DEFCON 3 and mobilize fully the Hirgizstanian units of the ECRF (European Collective Response Force). We have units in Siberia and along the Eurasian line in North Germania. I think we are fairly well prepared for this."

The Fuhrer made a couple of notes as he listened to the General. "I agree completely General, DEFCON 3 it is. However, I want something more than just the ECRF's mobilization. We need to send a message to the Nerotikans...and to anyone else who may be watching, that if you declare war on one of the TOA members, you declare war on the rest of us. The best way to send such a message is to totally cripple the Nerotikan state. This must be our goal. I will authorise whatever units you need to achieve this General, you have carte blanche."

”Vi har bekreftelse. Nerotiske styrker er i ferd med å krenke den germanske grensen.” [We’ve got confirmation. Nerotikan forces are in the process of violating the Germanian border.]

The intelligence officer looked up at the brigader on the other side of the large map table in the field bunker that currently served as the brigade headquarters. The 623. Brigade Group, Royal Cottish Army had been stationed in Turkmenistan for five years, since the establishment of the Eurasian Line, and had as its mandate to support the Germanian forces and to protect the Eurasian Line, which was of the utmost importance to the Realm’s economy. The Brigade Group was technically part of the 205. Division, which was the Cottish contribution to the October Alliance forces in the Fourth Reich, with the remainder of the division being stationed in France, but due to the large distance between the Turkmenistan and France, the Brigade Group and its 4 400 soldiers were an autonomous unit. That made the brigader standing over the map table with the tactical dispositions of the Cottish and Germanian forces in this sector the highest-ranking Cottish officer in the area of operations.

So far, the only place where the Nerotikans had attacked as Kazakhstan, which meant that the buffer zone between the Nerotikan invaders and the 623. Brigade Group was Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and a lot of Germanian soldiers. Nodding, the brigader looked back to the tactical dispositions and nodded.

“Så det har startet. Informer våre germanske brødre at vi er klare til dyst, og at brigadegruppen er forberedt på forflytning til fronten dersom det blir nødvendig. Informer Oslo og. Jeg kan tenke meg at vi har en overraskelse eller to til dem.” [So, it’s begun. Inform our Germanian brothers that we’re ready for action, and that the Brigade Group is prepared to deploy to the front if that is necessary. Inform Oslo as well. I can imagine that we have a surprise or two in store for them.]

The intelligence officer nodded to the brigader and turned to face the soldier manning the communications set.

[OOC: Someone slept through their geography class. Turkmenistan is way south of not only Kazakhstan but also Uzbekistan. Good luck getting through Kazakhstan Nero.]

Somewhere in Vologda
Crown Province of Greater Norway
7 November, 2007 – 02:25 AM

The invasion of the Germanian land was a little over an hour old, and the situation had been clarified, with the Germanians having declared their intent of defending their sovereign territory. The Nerotikan invasion had been expected after the allied satellites first picked up a force build-up four days ago, and preparations had been made. Secretly, the Cottish forces in the Crown Province of Greater Norway and the Province of Tsjuderike had remained on BERSTAT-3, even after the tensions with the Russians started to ease. Now, with the Germanians having asked for assistance in accordance with Article V, Section I in the October Alliance Charter, the Cottish task was very clear.

The initial reaction would be made not by the Air Force, but rather from the Army. In Vologda, the 1284. Tactical Missile Regiment (Imsdal) had received orders to go to BERSTAT-2, a readiness condition that meant that the Realm had just become a party in a limited war, twenty minutes ago, and was currently preparing its arsenal. The regiment had been on the nightly move when the orders came, no small task in half a meter of snow and -16° C, but they had done it still. Operational Security meant that they couldn’t remain in the same location for more than two days at the time, and to fool satellites, they had exploited the cover of dark to move.

Deploying their firing batteries in an open snow-covered field just outside a small village, the M67A5 HEMTT transport erector launchers had all completed raising their missile canisters to an elevation of 90°, facing east-southeast, and were now just waiting, the crews sitting in the protected cabs, the missiles spun up, warheads armed and uplinked with the command posts, ready to be unleashed.

The 1284. was equipped with the venerable BBM.20 Imsdal hypersonic cruise missile which had served the Realm faithfully and effectively for almost ten years, always managing to catch their targets by surprise and wreaking massive havoc where they impacted. Much of this success was attributed to the extreme speeds the missile had. At transit, it soared near Mach 6, which increased in its terminal phase to Mach 7, making it pretty much impossible to intercept. The kinetic energy that the impact at Mach 7 created was sufficient to destroy most targets, but it was still equipped with a powerful warhead.

This particular regiment was equipped with the BBM.20A Imsdal, which was equipped with a 544-kilogram advanced unitary penetrator warhead, basically 544 kilograms of high explosive in a shaped charge, making it very lethal; the BBM.20B Imsdal, which was equipped with 240 BLU-127C Improved Incendiary SubMunitions filled with thermite-TH3, which ignited when it came into contact with oxygen, creating a sticky gel which burned at 5 000° C, which was more than enough to melt even the armor on tanks, making it a particularly nasty weapon of war; and the BBM.20C Imsdal, which was equipped with a 544-kilogram blast-fragmentation warhead consisting of 58 825 depleted uranium spheres 10 millimeters in diameter, giving a shotgun effect that would devastate for instance battlefields, airports, radar sites and personnel unfortunate enough to be caught out in the open. Of these, two of the four firing batteries were equipped with the A version, with the other two each having either the B or the C version. That translated to 144 BBM.20A Imsdals, 72 BBM.20B Imsdals and 72 BBM.20C Imsdals ready to fire, with twice that loaded onto the missile transporters, ready to be reloaded once the first volley had been fired.

At 02:29 AM, the regiment was ready and hooked up to StridsNett, the Cottish battlefield network that listed all units and their location for the commanding officers and those who had access to an access terminal. If you zoomed in enough, you could even see the individual soldiers, although that kind of close surveillance was normally reserved for platoon, company and battalion commanders. Commanders above usually monitored battalion, regiment, brigade and division movements, focusing on the big picture.

In the regimental HQ, the atmosphere was hectic and tense.

” 1279. oppe i Komi holder på å avfyre sine missiler, vi er nestemann.” [The 1279. up in Komi are firing their missiles, we’re up next.] A radioman said to the oberst in command of the 1284. TMR.

”Informer alle batterier. Vi har grønt lys for å avfyre våpen. Skyt i følgende sekvens, på min kommando: Alfa, Delta, Bravo, Charlie.” [Inform all batteries. We have green light for weapons release. Fire in the following sequence, on my command: Alpha, Delta, Bravo, Charlie.]

There was some radio chatter before the radioman replied to the oberst.

”Alle batteri avventer din kommando til å skyte.” [All batteries awaiting your command to open fire sir.]

The clock ticked down, and apart from the radio chatter in the background, there was silence. Then, a single phone rang. The radioman picked it up and listened attentively for two seconds before hanging back up.

”1279. har avfyrt alle sine missiler. Det er vår tur.” [The 1279. has fired all their missiles. We’re next.]

The oberst nodded as he pulled out a small key he carried around his neck. He inserted it into a slot on the control panel and turned the key all the way around, looking at the panel as it lit up. The final safeguard against an unauthorized launch had been removed, and the missiles were ready to be fired. He nodded to the radioman.

”Ordren om å åpne ild er herved gitt.” [The order to open fire is hereby given.]

Two seconds later, the dark snowy night was disturbed by a mighty roar and a hail of fire and brimstone as the first of the regiment’s 288 missiles were released, one every three seconds. Alpha battery fired its BBM.20A Imsdal missile first, followed three seconds later by a BBM.20C Imsdal missile from Delta battery, then a BBM.20A Imsdal again from Bravo battery, and finally a BBM.20B Imsdal from Charlie battery. It took twelve seconds before each battery had started opening fire, at which time Alpha battery had already fired four missiles.

The missiles streaked upwards in a hail of fire, climbing rapidly to 35 000 meters, dropping of their boosters as the fuel was expended and speed was picked up, quickly reaching Mach 6, heading for their targets inside Nerotika, joining the 864 missiles that were already in the sky, fired from three regiments located in Arkhangelsk, Komi and Kostroma, respectively. It would take fifteen minutes before the last of the Imsdal missiles had been fired, at which time the nearby villagers had all been awoken and looked to the sky at the missiles that roared to the sky, many of them worrying about what was happening. Several tried checking the 24-hour news channels on TV, who said nothing. The news hadn’t been leaked to the media yet, and it would hopefully remain that way for another few hours.

With the last of the missiles fired, the crews immediately began reloading the TELs with fresh missiles. In thirty to forty minutes, the regiment would be ready to open fire again.

The 288 missiles from the 1284. Tactical Missile Regiment increased the number of missiles to 1 152 Imsdal cruise missiles heading for targets inside Nerotika, most of them aimed at military or military-related targets such as army and air bases, fuel depots, military arsenals, radar stations, command and communications sites, air defense sites, highways, railway depots, and television and radio stations in the state of Kirov. In addition, 48 missiles were heading for Kirovsk, the Nerotikan capital city, where the missiles were aimed at taking out the enemy leadership.

The Cottish had no great hope of actually managing to perform a decapitating strike, considering that they had tried this tactic a year ago, but Cottish missiles striking the enemy capital made for great propaganda purposes for the Cottish and the Germanians, and it was a very effective morale crusher for the enemy’s civilian populace.

Cottish-Nerotikan Border
7 November, 2007 – 02:00 AM

The Cottish border defenses had been rebuilt after last year’s war, and the Border Guards were once again patrolling the border, but this time they were reinforced by the Army who had deployed substantial forces to the area, including a significant amount of air defenses, and vast minefields on the other side of the border defenses, creating a no-mans-land more than one and a half kilometre deep, littered with all kinds of mines. Anti-tank mines, Bouncing Betties, Shoe-mines designed to maim but not kill, and Claymores were but a few of the variants that littered these areas, all designed to make an attempted invasion as costly as possible for the Nerotikans.

The Cottish Army had no intention of invading Kirov. Why would they? The local population were quite hostile towards the Cottish, and an invasion would mean that they would have to fight not only the Nerotikan Army – not that this was such a great deterant for the Cottish Army, who had crushed it last year – but also the Nerotikan population, with all the counter-insurgency tactics that this would require. It simply wasn’t worth it, which was why the regular army units remained in defensive positions, deterring the enemy from trying an invasion of their own. It was however quite possible that the Cottish would open a second front up here when the Nerotikans got bogged down in the south, to try to force a surrender from the enemy, but that was a political question that would have to be answered in due time. For now, the Army had orders to maintain Cottish sovereignty and to harass the enemy where possible. So, that’s what it did.

Enemy units within range were subjected to devastating artillery barrages from the many M52A2 Haubits self-propelled howitzers and their deadly 155mm projectiles, and by the equally deadly and fearsome 227mm artillery rockets and their submunitions fired from the M56A2 Dragon multiple-launch rocket systems in the area. The Cottish artillery units used a shoot-and-scoot tactic, using the great firing capacity of the Haubits, which was based on the very successful Panzerhaubitze-2000, to fire a few shells before relocating, denying the enemy the chance to conduct effective counter-artillery fire with their own artillery.

The most devastating blow to the Nerotikan war machine along the border wouldn’t come from the Army though, but rather from the Air Force. A substantial number of aircraft were in the air, many armed with Karma anti-radiation missiles designed to take down the enemy’s SAM sites. With an engagement range of 56 kilometers, the nimble fighters equipped with these missiles conducted risky low-level flights at high speed, tempting the enemy SAMs to “paint” them, thus revealing their positions. As a reward for this, the fighters fired off their Karma missiles at the enemy radar sites before dropping chaff and flares like crazy before hitting the relative safety of the low altitudes, getting out of there as quickly as possible while the Karmas headed for their targets. There was little use turning off the radars once the Karmas had been fired, as the missiles remembered where their targets were. That, combined with a speed of Mach 3 meant that enemy radar sites would quickly be decimated.

Fighters and other aircraft loaded with the ABM.30A AMESM missile, which also had anti-radiation search as one of its guidance modes were also used for this purpose, engaging larger radars and enemy air defense sites from greater distances – up to 320 kilometers away. With a warhead weighing almost 400 kilograms, the AMESM could inflict massive damages on the enemy.

The other threat to the Cottish aircraft were the enemy’s fighters, which was why the Cottish had not only prepared their own air defense sites, but also sent up several groups of J-21A Typhoon advanced air superiority fighters laden with air to air missiles, mostly of the types LLM.41A Archer short-range air-to-air missiles and LLM.42A Arbiter medium-range air-to-air missiles, but also some LLM.43B Dødsengel extreme-range air-to-air missiles. Operating in pairs of two or groups of four, the Typhoons were mighty fighters that had wreaked havoc on the enemy fighter fleet last year. All aircraft the enemy had sent up against the Cottish had been destroyed, albeit with some friendly casualties too. The Cottish didn’t expect that many fighters to oppose them this time though, considering they had destroyed all the fighters the enemy had put to the air less than a year ago, and the fact that such losses – several hundred aircraft and numerous pilots – weren’t easy to replace in such a short span of time. It took close to six months just to construct a decent fighter aircraft, and several years to train new pilots. The Cottish on the other hand had combat-proven aircraft and plenty of them, as well as experienced pilots, which in a dogfight usually meant the difference between life and death.

The first missiles to be fired at the enemy aircraft were the Dødsengels, which were fired at extreme ranges of up to 325 kilometers, and the Arbiters, at ranges of up to 200 kilometers. Both missiles streaked at their targets at Mach 4 to 5, and though the Arbiters had the tell-tale smoke tail, the darkness of night meant that this wouldn't be an issue since the enemy pilots couldn't see the smoke trails.

The air war probably wouldn’t take that long, meaning that the bombers that were being prepared in Arkhangelsk and Murmansk would soon get to release their payloads on the Nerotikan infrastructure and war machine. The Nerotikans would learn the hard way that you didn’t invade an October Alliance nation and hope to get away from it without it hurting.

The German 1st and 3rd Armies had begun their mobilization towards the Orenburg Oblast in Nerotikan Russia. The Armies had a combined strength of 980.000 Reichswehr soldiers, 230.000 Waffen-OS soldiers, 2.800 vehicles and armor, and were supported by the 22nd, 28th, and 31st Luftwaffe Divisions, which were currently bombing defensive targets on the ground and dogfighting Nerotikan aircraft over Kazakhstani and Russian soil.

The FkZ-2 Air Superiority Fighters were an easy match for the Nerotikan MiG's and provided enough of a defense for the bombers for them to drop thousands of pounds of bombs and missiles on ground targets in Nerotika. Included in the ground targets was the Nerotikan invasionary force, which was receiving a strong beating from the air, though it was unclear how much damage was being done...

OOC: Please note this listing is just based in Kazakhstan and not including units based in Eurasian and Cottish territory. All entries with the asterick (*) are top secret IC meaning that specifications on them are not public, performance is not public, their existence is not public, and knowledge of their existence may be deduced only to rumors and grainy photography taken by a lucky UFO nutso who may have gotten close enough to a secret airbase to actually get a shot off. It feels like I am missing something but I think this is all set. EDIT: I found what I was missing, the four Vesta squadrons to southern Kazakhstan.

OOC: To quote SL offsite, I think this is a proper way to look at this because it's going to get hectic fast. I highlighted the important concept.

If it helps anything in this discussion, I tend to view RP - especially war RPs - as turn-based. I've always done turn-based RPs, and it's usually effective. But simply saying that Nerotikan forces are in Kazakhstan would be tantamount to North Germania replying saying that his forces were parading down Nerotika's capital with the head of the Nerotikan leader on a silver plate. A question deserves a reply, so if no opportunity is given to reply, then how does something like this even progress sensibly?

A greenlight began to flash on the desk of the officer of the watch in charge of Asian Command. Asian Command dealth with all the various units deployed in Eurasian Territories as well as the ECRF Troops deployed with both Eurasian and North Germanian Territories. When he picked up the phone a collective "SHIT" rang from his end of the line. Immediately he picked up the Yellow "hot" phone on the opposite end the desk and was immediately in contact with the Prime Minister.

"Prime Minister this the Asian Command, General Tommel. Sir we have a situation, Nerotikan forces have invaded Khazakistan. They are attempting to push into North Germanian lands as we speak. It appears they have spread themselves out along various locations and are attacking in a very wide front. No sir we have not had contact with the North Germanians yet sir. We were waiting on your decision. Very well sir I will let them know. Goodbye."

General Tommel immediately issued a declaration to both the 643rd and 788th ECRF Groups.

A teletype came afire in the sleepy firebase outside of Aktobe.

Three clicks south of Aktobe the commanding officers scurried about gathering the last bits of intel they could glean from various sources before they began the move North. Engineering units immediately left the compound with M1132 Stryker ESV’s and Armored D6N Caterpillar Bulldozers. Upon arriving close to town they began to hastily construct defensive embankments for Tanks and IFV's. Troops soon followed and began to dig zig-zag entrenchments in strategic locations to interlock fields of fire in and around the major intersections of town. Javelin teams moved into elevated positions in two-story facilities to increase the range of the weapon systems. The fire support team setup shop at a range that they could pummel the approaches with the 155mm rounds fired from the famous M2015LTH while the HIMARS crews setup for long range engagement of targets of opportunity. All of the work was done under the watchful eye of the Anti-Air wing of the Airmobile Group and Cavalry Regiment. Should a wayward enemy fighter appear, the various units to include several Avenger ADU’s would spring into action and engage the threat. The Air wing quickly began to fly a low-altitude cap scanning for targets of opportunity. The deadly SAH-33A Svyatogor had yet to cut its teeth in battle, and its tank-killing prowess would be put to the test. Within 3 hours both groups had dispersed throughout town in a fairly sound defensive arrangement. When the Nerotikan’s came they would be facing a combined force with mixed Cavalry Units (Light Tanks) and highly mobile Airmobile Infantry supported by Puma IFV’s and Javelin ATGM crewed weapons. To the rear was a palisade of artillery in a layered style format designed to maximize lethality and inflict maximum casualties on an approaching force. Colonel Tidwell, a veteran of the last Nerotikan Incident, was pleased. As he adjusted his Colt Combat Commander in .45 ACP in its tactical holster, he studied the sky above. He wondered when the EOL would send in the birds of prey. Colonel Tidwell tapped into the BATNET system and contacted the various TOA forces in the area.

"Be advised 643rd and 788th Hawdawgian ECRF has taken a defensive position in Aktobe. We will hold this location until otherwise instructed by our North Germanian counterparts to relocate. Col. Tidwell HECRF Commander."

OOC: Atbasar weather (http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/35078.html).

The Layartebian response was still awaiting a final set of confirmation orders from both the Layartebian and Germanian commands. Layartebian units at Atbasar, two hundred miles south of the border, were already on high alert as the bullets and the bombs started flying and falling. Base defenses were bolstered immediately and air defense units went active. The Layartebian military had placed several Crow and Replicator air defense sites in the area around Atbasar. The mobile Crow sites could launch up to eighty conventional and four thermonuclear missiles without reloading. An additional one hundred and sixty-eight missiles were stowed away, ready for launch just the same. They could all engage aerial targets three hundred and fifty miles or ground targets up to three hundred and seventy-five miles away, which was well into Nerotikan territory. The other site, the Replicator site, was mobile as well but not as easily mobile as the Crow site was. It could fire up to forty-eight missiles in one sitting with another ninety-six stowed, all up to five hundred miles away, deep into Nerotikan territory. Then, there was the increasingly mobile AADRMS site, which had one hundred and eight LRAAM missiles ready and two hundred and sixteen stowed, all capable of flying up to seventy-five miles to attack a target. Those, combined with the various point defense units made traversing over Atbasar an impossibility for any aircraft.

Still, the first response would come from even further south. The Empire had stationed four Vesta SRBM squadrons in Kazakhstan. That equaled forty-eight missiles, twenty-four in the first wave followed by another twenty-four as little as fifteen minutes later. Back at their hardened base, they had an additional one hundred and forty-four missiles stowed, each for another six launch salvos.

The missile base was a hardened target, buried inside of a small mountain area about two hundred miles southwest of Atbasar. With a conventional range of three hundred and ten miles, the Vesta missiles could easily be used against many Nerotikan positions. When armed with a nuclear payload, they could go as far as seven hundred and forty-five miles. Despite the presence of several thermonuclear and chemical warheads in Kazakhstan, none were actually fitted onto the loaded missiles. Those contained submunitions or fragmentary warheads.

At first dawn that there would be war, the Imperial Layartebian Army moved all four squadrons to various launch places. Using camouflage and the cover of darkness the eighteen vehicle small squadrons strategically placed themselves in dense forest-like areas and mountainous terrain no closer than two hundred and eighty miles from the Nerotikan border. Of the twenty-four missiles ready on the twenty-four TELs, eight of them were equipped with powerful, fragmentary warheads, eight had thermobaric warheads, and eight were equipped with BLU-97/B CEM submunitions. The twenty-four rounds on the HEMTTs, ready to be reloaded, were of a similar order. With snow falling, temperatures well below the freezing point, and winter coming, the ILM was prepared for a hard fight.

The link between the TELs and the MOD was encrypted with the maximum amount of encryption available and contained several dummy keys to confuse anyone who might intercept it, even though that would be impossible. With the launch codes accepted, the missiles were powered up and ready within a minute. Thirty more seconds were required just in case there was a change in the settings. As far as everyone was concerned though, the missiles were ready. Thirty seconds took forever but when it was over an eerie silence fell over the launch area before every bird within a half mile picked up and scattered to the winds!

The ground roared as the four missiles came to life one after the other. Each missile had four nozzles and fire breathed from every one of them. Locking bolts released on the missiles in subsequent intervals. The first missile launched and the second followed eight seconds later and so on and so fourth. Belching white smoke, the missiles shot upwards, towards the wild blue yonder. They each tore upwards, gaining in speed as their massively powerful engines pushed the missiles up to an altitude of roughly 50 miles. The missiles arched over and followed a quasiballistic trajectory as they accelerated to a speed of Mach 6. The missiles were single-stage and pushed forward towards the target area.

The twenty-four missiles were aimed at various Nerotikan positions around Petropavl, Pavlodar, Qostanay, and Aktyubinsk. The TELs, maintained a large separation, to ensure that they wouldn't be blown up by a single strike, went into shoot and move mode. As soon as the missiles were launched, they would lower their elevators and begin to move away, to positions further away from Nerotikan forces. They would use the cover of AWACS and patrolling aircraft, which included both Typhoons and Super Falcons, to skulk away after they fired, only to be reloaded somewhere, where they would fire again.

While those missiles fired, throughout the Empire, military units went to a heighten alert status as all units assumed REDCON 2. The Empire would be ready both domestically and abroad.

Message from the Russian Federation

We do not approve or condemn the actions of the Union of Soviet Republics. However if any nation in this conflict attempts to annex USR land during their counter attack we will be forced to intervene on behalf of USR as we can not allow TOA influence to spread in the region.

OOC: This will be a diary of a German soldier fighting in Kazakhstan against Nerotikan forces. He is an Unteroffizier (Corporal) in the 5th Mechanized Infantry Division, Squad 17, 1st German Army, 18 years old, and has never seen actual combat. He is a Navigator for a Predator AAAV. I will attempt to keep writing his diary as much as I can. This will be good filler in between assaults.

Characters:
- Unteroffizier Heinz Fischer
- Magda (Fischer's fiancee)
- Oberleutnant Schweiger (Fischer's CO)
- Rüdi (Fischer's Predator AAAV Driver
- Günther (Fischer's Predator AAAV Right Gunner)
- Augustus (Fischer's Predator AAAV Left Gunner)

The War Journal of Unteroffizier Heinz Fischer

[Translated from German]

"November 11...

"Today the war began against Nerotika while we have just arrived here in Petropavl. As our Führer tells us, the Nerotikan pigs have invaded our sovereign lands with the guise of 'liberating it'! We moved North today towards the front lines and I must admit I felt a bit nervous. While I have all the faith in the world in the great German Army, soldiers do die...

"My Commanding Officer, Oberleutnant Schweiger, is a great leader and a true follower of the Reich. I've put my trust in him as a commander and he has yet to let me down even once. We seem to get along very well, even if he is my superior officer.

"I can't wait to see Magda again. It's only been 78 hours, but I miss her terribly already. However, I promised I would write her everyday and she promised me the same. It's a different world without Magda - everything seems cold, hostile, strange, and cruel - especially here in Kazakhstan with it's rock soil, small mountains, scarce trees, and the bitter cold and snow, so different from Austria this time of year.

"Right now, we compromise the Middle Line -- a highly mobile, fast, yet destructive back-up line that is in place should there be a breach in the Front Line. I hope I'll get to see Front Line action sometime soon. There are already stories being told by injured soldiers coming to the rear from the Front being told around the camp fires. I can't wait to use my SG-48 Assault Rifle on one of these Communist pigs!

"The night is worse than the day. There are rumors of Kazakhstani civilians loyal to the cause of Nerotika who are armed with AK-47s and AK-74s who sneak into tents at night and slaughter entire platoons in their sleep. Right now it is 10:37 PM and I've got one hand on this pen and the other on my SG-48.

"It is freezing here. The thermometer in our tent reads - 15 degrees Celcius (4 degrees Fahrenheit) and there is snow falling. I don't see how the local population can stand to live here. It is a miserable, barren, desolate land.

"Today I saw my first dead Nerotikan soldier. Members of the OS had carried his body from the Front Line to the Middle Line and were painting his face and dismembering his body. While the OS are good to have next to you in combat, sometimes they really are heartless monsters. Like robots. I hope no one reads what I just said, as I could be kicked out of the military and possibly imprisoned briefly.

"The Oberleutnant has just informed us it's lights-out. So goodnight for now."

Somewhere in USR, 4th Army Mobile Operations HQ

It was raining outside as General Bodrov was drinking his coffee inside a tent that was acting as the head quarters for the Russian Federation military operations within the Union of Soviet Republics. Currently that consisted of waiting for the Cottish to open up the way so the 4th army and 2nd Gvardia could move in to the western most territories claimed by the Federation. For now seating behind his oak desk Bodrov watched the rain outside, suddenly his phone rung.

"Генерал Бодров слушает....да....да....протоколы уже есть...так точно...спасибо."
General Bodrov is listening...yes...yes....we already got the protocols...yes sir...thank you.

He put the phone down and picked his headset.

"Ну ладно ребята давайте, всё как запланировано, Раков готовь десант, Волков мотострелковые войска, артилерию и воздушную поддержку коорденировать буду я. Выдвигаемся."
Alright guys, everything as planned, Rakov prepare the paratroops, Volkov mechanised infantry, artillery and air cover I will coordinate myself. Moving out.

In a few hours the whole 4th army as well as 2nd Gvardia were on the move with air cover bound to cross Russian/USR border in a few hours. Their trip would take them a day at most as for the battle ahead, it all depended on then their enemy realized that something was wrong.

The invading forces took an amazing blow by German bombardments and yet they persisted and continued on down the road but now retreated into the ditches every time an object in the sky appeared. The armored units were reducing in numbers as the enemy attacks rendered many of them unusable and hundreds of troops were halted back to marching into battle rather then riding in quickly. In the air war the MiG-71's were technologically even with enemy fighters but in the pilots ability they were unevenly matched. Most Nerotikan pilots had far less training then their german counter-parts and so during the bombing's when encounted many were inclined to retreat, but many more were willing to fight leaving downed 71's scattered across the landscape. Although the grim reality of the Nerotikan military's unpreparedness left hundreds dead already, their honorable hearts put there an ancient idea of honor with death leaving them a shell for a killing machine inside. Those soldiers that managed to escape the carnage of enemy bombings reached the battlefield prepared and ready to die, whether this crazed mental state would be an additive or a disaster was yet to be seen.

The report came in surprisingly there was no shock in the reaction of the council. They had considered surrendering the nation into becoming a federation satellite but this report broke that idea in two. The federation was moving on them, not just a small attack but it seemed an invading force was coming in as well. It was clear that the Nerotikan military would in no way be able to fight two wars on their borders, it seemed now the actions of the council had been rash and not thought out. Chairman Darinsky scowled at the council before him, it was their choices that put him in this situation and now he would have to handle it. His first order of business was to eliminate the council was a viable source of government. He would do this by appointed his own council and today, as he stood before the current administration only a few words separated him from total control.

"I have asked for this special gathering to take place at this late hour as it seems the federation has allied with the germans and are preparing an attack against us. Our sources are not entirely confirmed but it has been acknowledged that unregistered federation troops are moving within distances of our border to be taken as threats.

"If this federation believed that Nerotika will fall easily then they have no clue what they are getting into. Although our military forces are detained to the west against German forces we have an ace up our sleeves but im afraid in order for me to pull this ace I must tell you the news as to the true reason for this gathering.

"I am placing this council under arrest in accord to the constitutional powers given to me as the chairman to see it fit when the council performs actions that are harmful to this nation."

The council pulled themselves back at this, the group looked around the room as armed MP's stormed the office, as they had done in the beginnings of the country. The MP's gathered around the council chambers and waited for the council to leave.

"You have no right to do this darinsky, who will run this country...you?" A council member stated as he stood, his fist slamming on the table before him.

"Ha, well of course I will not be alone in this matter. I have pre-arranged a council to take your positions later this day. Good evening." Darinsky exited the chambers and stood outside the doors as the MP's forcefully pulled the council from the room, handcuffed with weapons trained on the group.

Somewhere near the Nerotika-Pushka Border

A large rag tag looking militia marched, tired and worn they had been marching 12 miles already strait and another 3 more till they would rest. This militia was a recruited force of the governments, a para-military police force for the area and now the thirteen thousand men that made up the force would be employed to defend the border using guerilla tactics to force enemy casualties to mount. If Pushka invaded with an outside force they would have one hell of a time pushing further then the first few villages.

Taking note from past warfare these men marched not in a large group but spread evenly along a line across the Omsk territory and a large concentrated force guarding the sliver of land connecting The federation and the Tyumen state largely in the forested area's. In Omsk the defense was build along the large amount of watery land that littered the are, any armored units would have trouble traversing the land while being under fire and so RPG's would become a strong asset in this area along with well hidden mines along the roads to force units into the waterways.

Air support would largely be left up to SAM sites that were scattered all across Omsk and Tyumen, only 70 MiG-29's would be left here to protect the skies by engaging located enemy forces.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Effective immediatly: All Federation troops within Nerotika are hereby acknowledged as enemies of our state and will be placed under arrest and will be deported back to federation territory by military forces. If they do not comply Nerotikan forces are ordered to shoot to kill.

Official Statement from the Russian Federation

The nation of the Union of Soviet Republics has done its best to destabilize the region which we reside in. This will not be tolerated, as such we issue our ultimatum. The USR troops will turn in their weapons and surrender to the Federation forces within the USR territory, the USR government will pronounce the surrender of the nation and three party talks between ourselves, the Reich and the representatives of USR will begin to decide the future of the country. If these demands are not met we will use deadly military force to ensure that the nation of USR meets them. If you think that you can defeat us in a war in our own backyard you are solely mistaken, we strongly advise you to meet our demands before we are forced to show you why we are one of the most powerful nations on earth.

Official Responce to The Federation

Your statements are bold to say the least, but otherwise ignored. It would have been great to have you neutral in this matter as in actuality it does not involve your union in any way. These brash remarks against us are only a show that you are more then willing to subject your nation to war at any cost for regional power and so you are nothing more then the OA that you despise so much. Our fight against the Reich would never have involved you if you hadn't shoved your way into this matter and so we would like to ask that you pull back your threats, continue on your merry way and leave our nation either to your western territories or back to your homeland. We have nothing to offer you for doing so but we believe it is not necissary to offer you a gift for doing something you planned to do from the start, just because your plans changed does not mean we are going to roll over to your demands. Ours is a sovereign nation built on this bloodshed and if we must fight to keep it that way our people are honored to be called to arms.

Once more, this conflict is between the reich and us and does not in any way involve you. You are under no constitutional doctrine, no international law or decree and most certainly not coming to the aid of a trusted ally of yours. What you are doing is simply an act against us at a time where you believe us most vaunerable and so I tell you that we are not the weaklings you believe we are. We will fight until this nation is nothing but dust to keep it from landing in the paws of the likes of you, we lost once to the cots but never again our nation is stronge in both heart and soul. You can never defeat us even after our nation is gone, we will still be here.

The Aazadi Movement: Kazakhistan [Nazer Ozar]

"I have been with this cell for at least a year now, at first this was just a group of people some refugee's from the war in the UAE and others members of the original aazadi movement that forced the refugee's to leave. It seemed though that they were getting along now...well at least from my point of view.

"When I joined the Kazakh Aazadi's I didn't think we were perform the duties that currenty we are involved in. What we are doing is nothing more than common terrorism and yet I can't help but feel proud when our unit places an IED infront of the Reich's military and it explodes. Ever sence the Nerotikan forces invaded the Aazadi movement has gathered more members and it seems now that we are here to stay although im sure the Reich will impose very strict laws to eliminate, but like it will matter as most of us are more than willing to die in the line of duty.

"When I first saw battle I noticed this willingness inside of myself, although it was a small firefight I had still stayed even after many of my comrads fell to german bullets. I can't say if I had killed anyone then but I remember specifically when I had confirmed a kill, standing over that poor man his eye's full of fear and then I shot him. Cold blooded, this is what war makes of us. From simple creatures we turn into murderous machines of death, very apparent when you see the carnage left on the roads by german bombers attacking the Nerotikan invasion.

"Anyway, I have nothing more to write but im sure before the end of this war I will make of name for myself. My general, a good freind of mine, has promised me a promotion to a leader of my own cell if I am able to secure Petropavlovsk enough to open a way for Nerotikan forces to take the city. This is my mission and with a unit of one thousand strong we will infiltrate the city and attack from within. May allah grant us safe passage."

[OOC: Nero, care to post any losses for the one thousand two hundred cruise missiles I fired at your military infrastructure and capital? Oh, and let's not forget the hundreds of missiles fired at whatever is left of your air force in the north.]

OOC: Well, during war times I prefer to have knowledge about an "allies" forces moving toward my border. Anyway, if your forces are in Kirov than chances are Cotland mistook some of them for mine and those rocket attacks most likely hit you, might want to discuss that with him. I'll add my list below before the end of today, as well as my responce to cottish attacks.

Kirovian Defence Forces (Coming...)

Nerotikan Nationalist Military: Kirov (coming...)

[OOC: You're grasping for straws here. The scenario you described is unlikely, as my military are engaging only those military forces between Kirov and the border that are confirmed to be Nerotikan - there's a difference between a Nerotikan and a Russian army outfit (equipment, uniforms, organization), and my intelligence officers are smart enough to know the difference. I believe I pointed that out somewhere in that big post of mine. I also don't believe that Pushka's forces are between Kirov and the Cottish border.]

OOC: My forces that I posted an Orbat for are somewhere on the road of their day's journey to Kirov, they haven't gotten there yet. If my forces were anywhere near your forces I'd think you'd try to deport them in which case I'd start pounding you with missile batteries which I haven't yet, neither have you RPed your forces coming in contact with your forces. I did not specify where exactly they are in relation to Kirov, and that is my fault however but as Cot said where shouldn't be a problem with separating Nerotikan troops from the Russian ones, we use different equipment, formations, uniforms, etc. Cruise missiles are precise, they're not MLRS, which now a days is also very precise but thats beyond the point. But Cot we do need to talk, I'll try to grab you on AIM tomorrow morning, evening for you.

Kirovian Casualty list

The capital city took many hits but low casualties were listed as well as a very limited political damage with the upheaval of the former council and most of its associations.

Military bases report limited casualties but high damages to weapon plants, luckly though most Nerotikan military facilities rested deep inside bunkers. An idea given after the cottish and layartebian assaults from last year's war. Arms manufacturing took a light hit but was hardly scratched as the bunker facilities provided excellent cover, in all civilians took the most casualties.

The men on the front shuddered in the harsh cold, before them lay the standstill grounds of hundreds of dead soldiers and wrecked armored vehicles. The Germans pounded the invading forces with a fury that matched and even overshadowed that which they had recieved in going into Cotland the previous year. Now though it wasn't the bombardments that made these men weary, it was the time of the year. Christmas which for the first time in many years the Nerotikan nation was celebrating and these soldiers now sat on the front line of a war in which if they made a sound of joy they would be shot dead. No one was cheery, not a single happy thought in the mass of front line soldiers who's only objective was to eliminate any german infantry/armor by any means nessisary.

It seemed to everyone that this war would go on into the new year simply because the Nerotikan government would never admit their mistake and the federation, which recently were pressuring the surrender of land to them, were attempting to force a second front to open inside Nerotikan territory. Even if the government admitted said mistake, it was assumed the germans would not take the apology lightly and so they were stuck in this shithole for the holidays, infront of them thousands of angry germans ready to kill on an instand and behind them federation troops were bullying the government into opening another front and a war against the russians.

The frontline in Kazakhstan would stand still only a few miles into the territory, 200 Model-1 anti-air armored vehicles, equiped with dual mounted Gatling Gun's and four shot SAM launcher's, would pour in behind the front to provide protection from bombers and artillary was to accompany them along with 100,000 fresh infantry and 220 Merkava Mark IV's would deploy to replace the M1A3's (An experimental tank, which now after the german bombardments is concidered a failure) which were among the wrecked armor laying in the vitual line of death which the men refurred to it as.

This deployment would be concidered the Chirstmas present to the kazakh front, as the deployment of 220 tanks nearly depleted the 2nd army of tanks. Whereas the 1st army which was now gearing up to confront the federation troops nearing the Kirovian state border would deploy 310 Merkava's(The remaining amount after the cottish strikes) along with 200,000 Kirovian Guard, 30,000 Army Regulars and 10,000 Marines to defend the capital state before federation troops have a chance to enter it.

ooc: Go ahead bitch all you want, cause I know there's gotta be something wrong with this post but ya know what...dont give a fuck cause im not a pin-point anal retentive bastard that needs to freak out every time a small mistake is made (A comment to Cotland) (Oh and Lay, read back on that war between cotland and me, you sent in some bombers that fired missles at Kirovian targets)...oh and merry late chirstmas, and have a happy new year guys.

Observations

Nerotika's loses posted do not seem consistent with the attacks and are not very detailed in terms of equipment but leave them as they are since nothing was done about them. Seemingly my Vesta strike went unnoticed or just included in 1st day loses [don't know]. We can just move on anyway.
Current status would basically resume war with Nerotikan forces incoming and, essentially, perhaps still the first day of the war, it didn't move all that much in the 40 posts that there were.

Others

Nerotika is facing military forces from the combined militaries of Hawdawg, Hirgizstan, Layarteb, North Germania, and Pushka from various locations [Cotland from his Russian territory, Pushka from seemingly within and around his Russian territory, and the rest from Kazakhstan].
North Germania [as a nation] seemingly doesn't exist anymore although there is a time difference [this thread is back in December, NG goes bye-bye in January, too complicated and nit-picky to deal with so we can just assume that NG's nation has gone in the middle of the war, whatever it adds "spice"].
What happens to NG forces? Do they fight? Do they lay down their arms? What happens? Good question. Likely, they would continue to fight, they wouldn't simply surrender to the forces of Nerotika. NG did treat Kazakhstan as an equal though, calling it the eastern Germany to some affect and as we saw in the Portugese rebellion thread, they are loyal to Berlin. However, who pays them now? What is going on? What is happening to their nation? Again, due to the OA and the bonds grown between nations, with the nations still backing them in Kazakhstan they would fight but I doubt they would simply, when the fight is over, sit down and say "We give our allegiance to xxxxx." They are fiercely loyal to Berlin and to Germany and have a sense of German nationalism, NG really had that going for him, his country was very nationalistic so that's something we have to look into when this is over, regardless of what happens.

All through the day the 634th Reinforced Airmobile Brigade and the 788th Light Cavalry Regiment worked feverishly to establish a base of operations in Aktobe, news came of the collapse of the North Germanian government. Colonel Tidwell didn’t have time for politics, in fact he didn’t care much for the like. As the engineers were putting the finishing touches on his Command Center a flash message came across the BATNET system from the DoD.

“North Germanian Government ceases to exist. Forces of NG are in question. Use systems in place to make contact with units close by. The Hawdawgian Government will pay each NG Soldier in Gold Bullion, Gondors, or Universal Standard Dollars complete wages with combat pay for assisting OA forces in repelling Nerotikan Forces from Kazakhstan. Perpetuate the rumor Nerotikan’s are executing or jailing NG soldiers that do not fight for them.”

While Colonel Tidwell studied this important message on his touch screen, another message came scrolling across the screen.

“Be advised Mechanized Airborne Forces are assembled in England to seize additional strategic targets to your south. We will have them on the ground by 0900 hours your time tomorrow. The following towns will be seized by the MA: Maqat, Aral, Embi, and Beyneu. Division Commanders will be in contact with your Base of Operations as soon as possible to assist with the coordination of the jump and other logistical concerns.”

------------------------------------------------------------

So it has begun

A massive formation of planes had taken to the air in staggered groups. Some five Mechanized Airborne Divisions had been assembled on various Tarmac’s around England. The Republic needed a presence in Kazakhstan quickly and Airborne Forces were the rapid response group that fit this bill perfectly. Roughly eight hours after general assembly, the first planes were in route to there destinations. A brief stop in Egypt for fuel was planned along with forward staging in portions of Turkey would allow a smooth jump onto to targets while also allowing for a relatively short resupply chain for the force once the fight began to rage. Aerial refueling wasn’t an option due to the size of the task force launched in this mission. Most of the aircrews and Paratroops were thankful they would be flying over friendly territories the majority of the land leg of the trip. After a second fuel stop in Turkish Airbases provided by Ottoman Khaif, the last leg of the journey took the troops over there target areas. Massive doors opened on the planes as one by one paratroops fell into the night sky over Kazakhstan. Equipment and personnel filled the moonlit night as assembly areas were alive with men yelling as they frantically unloaded equipment and materials necessary to wage war.

The Hawdawgian propaganda campaign wasn't the only one in play. The Empire had their own running, which was something similar. The Empire would not leave the Kazaks in their struggle against the Nerotikans. The Empire would not vacate and it would not bail. They were still allies, despite the dissolution of the Reich. With that, the Empire would fund them, they would train them, they would take care of their families, and the Empire would personally back the Kazaks in their push for sovereignty following the end of the war. The real plan had the Eurasians seizing control of Kazakhstan, which wouldn't necessarily be a good or a bad thing for the Kazaks. The Empire would not betray them though. With the second day of war upon them, the Layartebian division of airborne forces near Atbasar and throughout the country prepared for a counter-attack. Aircraft from Cottish and Eurasian airbases would assist along with Layartebian forces throughout the world. Air sorties would commence immediately as expeditionary forces moved to Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Reinforcements would also be on the way, beginning with an entire corps of over 55,000 men to the fighting area along with special forces, more paratroopers, and cavalry equipment.

Near Charjew, Turkmenistan

The 623. Brigade Group had been on a heightened state of alert for quite some time, prepared to move out at a moment’s notice in the event that the Nerotikan attack managed to break through the Germanian lines and spill into Turkmenistan. Since the Cottish outfit was located a great distance away from the border between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, a series of precautions had been taken to assure that the brigade group could get to the front as quickly as possible. One of these was having placed all the heavy equipment the brigade group could muster – the tank regiment of fifty-eight main battle tanks, the artillery regiment of fifty-four self-propelled howitzers and the fighting vehicles of the two infantry regiments – onto the train set that the Germanian government had placed at the disposition of the brigade group commander, brigader Goldstein.

Brigader Goldstein hailed from Israel, where he had joined the Cottish Army at the age of nineteen and made his way up through the ranks. Now, twenty-six years later he sat in a field bunker in the middle of Turkmenistan, listening to confusing reports coming in not only from the front line, but from everywhere. Berlin had fallen, some reports said, while others defiantly refused to believe this, calling the radio broadcasts ‘acts of treason’. Others still claimed that the front lines had collapsed, while others still claimed the front was holding fast. However, the deciding factor was the news from the Hawdawgian units in Kazakhstan that they needed reinforcements and the subsequent notice of deployment of not only Hawdawgian paratroopers, but also a whole Layartebian Corps of fifty-five thousand combat soldiers and their respective support units.

Goldstein had a liberal mandate in the disposition and deployment of the men and equipment under his command, and he had a ground attack squadron of eighteen A-16A Torden close air support fighters and two AT-35B Slegge close air support aircraft, and a transport section of six T-35A Slegge tactical transport aircraft from the Air Force under the command of an Air Force Colonel at his disposition. Taking all these factors into consideration, he decided to transfer the entire outfit under his command, four thousand four hundred men from the Army and six hundred from the Air Force to Kazakhstan in order to take the fight to the Nerotikans and do his share in preventing Kazakhstan, and thus the Eurasian Line from falling into the hands of the Nerotikans.

Two hours later, with all the soldiers embarked on the large, long train, the 623. Brigade Group began its deployment north, towards Atbasar where they would establish their new base of operations, not too far from the front line but still close enough to be out of engagement range for the enemy. Protected by the Torden CAS fighters, who took shifts flying BARCAP and scouting ahead for the 623., the train chugged its way towards the front line, stopping for nothing.

The Cottish had taken precautions in keeping the well maintained railway clear of any meeting traffic – mostly through talk and bribing, but in some cases also through an officer pointing a gun at the head of the traffic controllers until the train had passed safely. There would be no incidents, and the train would arrive safely Atbasar sometime in the late afternoon the day after they left Charjew.

Silence, everything sat quite. No one spoke, no one even breathed loudly as the radio spit out its message. The reich had fallen, the german enemy was in disarray and unorganized and the military was about to take advantage of this. Behind their line's hundreds of N-LOS mobile artilery had lined up and taken aim all across the front line, along with that the 220 Merkava Mark IV's were moving down and would enforce the line's in a matter of hours. As the sun slowly fell the commander of the unit headed for Petropavl, the german forces infront being their single objective, made his message clear via a loud speaker.

"Men of germany, children of Berlin. You have been left naked on this battlefield. You government falls before you and yet you defiantly stand in our way of securing Kazakhstan, this territory of such great people. You will not be killed, you will not be imprisoned, we value your lives as brave defenders of kazakhstan and wish for you to continue this against your real enemy. One that would rather see this great land be imprisoned under the flag of an empire rather then that of a free state. We ask, not for surrender, but for you accept peace within our people's. If you do not wish to fight for us then we will allow you safe travel to the cottish territories to the north, from there they will send you to your home countries. You have thirty minute's to raise the white flag, or something similar, otherwise you will know a new kind of hell."

The men on the line's waited, the sun was now lowering almost to the ground and a chill was setting in. 30,000 + men sat on that line after receiving an extra 13,000 men who had marched in almost an hour ago, they reported the artilery in place. 10 minute's passed an nothing, no words and certainly no flag, 15 than 20 and the men now knew what they were about to face. As the time limit reached an end the men began to pray to their various gods and the commander made the call to the artilery unit's "Offering ignored, fire at will." The commander set the phone back down and gave the orders to prepare to charge.

Three minute's after the call the men were watching the enemy line's closely. With an unwaivering responce they smiled and cheered as the land before them was lit on fire. Artilery, a surprising switch for the german's who had only two day's before been the clear victor of this confrontation, was now pumbling the enemy unit's into peices ripping apart defences and formations. The men received the order and over the loudspeaker the commander, who could not resist, shouted charge as they leaped up and the thousands of them rushed across a field of decaying bodies and shells of armored unit's. The explosions continued as the nerotikans neared the enemy line's then the germans opened up a barrage of persistance fire that cut down line's of nerotikans advancing toward them. This was only a small obsticle, overcome quickly with the shear force that was barreling down on the german lines joined with the artilery ripping up the moral and numbers of the defiant enemy. The nerotikan's flooded the german ranks, close hand to hand combat ensued and the german's fell quickly without proper leadership. Their world was torn apart, the nerotikans were now attacking them, their great empire had fallen and it seemed even their commanders had left them for dead or just lost themselves in the mixup.

After only three hours, night had fallen and all around was the smell of lead, a scent similar to a mix of blood and gunpowder. The nerotikan's had taken the line's and catured mostly all of the german resistance, along with this the 220 Merkava's, accompanied by the frontline's remaining 63 transport trucks loaded with 30 men each, left the celebrations and moved on the city. They would find out now if it had been secured.

Hirgizstan

158 Corps, Hirgizstanian Army, Koshketau, Kazakhstan

The city had been relatively quiet for the past few hours. As the war began many Germans, advised by their now defunct Government, had left most of the northern cities in case of invasion. Few had been left, but those that were didn't venture onto the streets. The Germanian Army had used Koshketau as a 'jumping off point' for their military forces going north. Instead of risking taking trains further to Petropavl, they had let them off at Koshketau.

But since the Government had collapsed the train station had been silent. The North Germanian forces left in the city were mostly rear-echelon troops including, thankfully, Military Police and various other units. Two Mehanized Infantry Brigades of around 5000 troops were stationed in two places just to the north of the city, commanded by an Oberst (Colonel) named Rickenback.

Oberst Rickenback stood stock still at attention in front of Liutenant General Jose Wallen, OIC of the 158 Corps. The two men had met briefly to discuss the defensive plans of the city some time ago when his unit had arrived.

Like many Hirgizstanian officers, Wallen spoke fairly decent North Germanian. It was the official second language of Hirgizstan. He spoke a slightly accented form to the Oberst.

"I don't like it any more than you Herr Oberst. The cut and dry of it is that you no longer have superiors to report to...and as far as we can tell some of your own forces to the north have either been pretty much destroyed, scattered or changed sides."

Oberst Rickenback was looking increasingly uncomfortable with his situation. He had a wife and two grown up kids back in Zurich. He wanted so badly to forget everything and just start for home...but it wasn't really home anymore...just some place. He hoped his family were okay. He just wanted to see them, to see if they were alright or something...anything...just to hear their voices would be a blessing.

He listened carefully to LG Wallen, the man from Africa, reportedly from Cape Verde which would explain his latin first name. He didn't want to accept what he was saying...how could Germanian soldiers change sides...or even be defeated by those Nerotikan upstarts. It wasn't possible!

"I...I...can't believe that. I won't believe that. Our government will recover...we'll-"

LG Wallen cut him off abruptly. They'd been over this at least once before. "Oberst, there is NO government anymore. There is no North Germania...its gone...never to return. The men up north...you want me to show you the satellite footage of them walking into the Nerotikan lines? Want me to show you the footage of them going to the front against their former comrades? I don't want to show it to you, but damn it, I will if you keep on like this."

The Oberst sighed. He knew Wallen was right...but it still didn't seem real. How could the Reich just collapse like that? It had seemed impossible just a week ago.

"Look...its Johan, isn't it?" Rickenbacker nodded, "I know you have family in Zurich. The Airborne troops from the ECRF are on their way there now. You give me their names and I'll get word to you. I now it won't mean much, but we Hirgizstanians will take care of your country, with the rest of the TOA."

Rickenbacker went to protest. LG Wallen cut him off.

"I know how you feel. But we're not coming to replace your Government or your way of life...we're going to preserve it. Believe me, we could do without going to the trouble. But we're allies, and thats something you don't just give up in a day. But, Herr Oberst, we have more important things at hand. If we don't sort things out here, then Kazakhstan could fall to the Nerotikans. We need to put the other stuff aside for now and concentrate on the job at hand...like the soldiers we are. Okay?"

Rickenbacker was silent for a minute. He pushed the manic considerations out of his head and concentrated on his job. He was a soldier. He might not have a flag, but he'd be damned if he'd let Kazakhstan fall to the Nerotikans. "Okay, but who will feed and pay my men...our logistics...its all fucked."

Wallen took a sheet from under a file on his desk, it was the Standing Information Order from PsyOps. It detailed the logistical and informational aspects of bringing the Reich under order. "Herr Oberst, this is our plan to help you and your people. Your forces to the north will become part of the German Stablization Force and we'll pay and take care of your men. For all intents and purposes you'll be part of the Hirgizstanian Army, but with your own mission. Which is why I wanted to speak to you in person.
There are no more forces coming by train, that means what you have now is probably all you'll have for some time. So, your mission is to defend this town and create a rally-point for German troops in the area. Your new rank, Herr Generalmajor, will enable you to assume any and all units into the GSF. You will report directly to me, for the moment anyway. Herr Generalmajor...defend this town at all costs."

Rickenbacker swallowed hard and nodded. "What will you do?"

For the first time in a long while LG Wallen smiled, "We're going to throw the Nerotikans out on their ass."

Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan

Zhezkazgan was a hive of activity. Army troops were active all over the city and outlying villages to secure the vital base at the heart of Hirgizstanian operations in Kazakhstan. So far the Germanians had been fairly helpful, with only minor disturbances. The police force in the city still worked and managed to maintain a fairly decent semblance of order, backed by the joint Germanian and Hirgizstanian GSF forces.

The real scramble, however, was at the Hirgizstanian Airbase to the north of the city. AN-225's were doing runs back and forth between Eastern and Westernm Europe, ferrying airborne troops to Paris, Berlin and Zurich. Now, to the mellee, was added fighters and bombers that would be providing CAP missions over the northern edges of Kazakhstan were Nerotikan forces were trying to push home their advantage.
A flight of three A-10X, five F-15L's, five F/A-22D's and five F-104X's took off toward Aksay in the North West, while another flight of the same make-up headed in the same direction, only toward Aqtobe in roughly the same area.

Finally, another contingent of the same make-up headed directly north to Petropavl to assisst the 158 Corps in pushing back the Nerotikans.

A pair of EC-103E's were also busy taking off on their fourth mission of the day. The Rivet Rider (Commando Solo) aircraft was a heavily modified C-130 used to broadcast on and/or jam information networks within a given area. The mission in Kazakhstan was to spread the word about the GSF and the fact that North Germanian units that joined it would be payed and taken care of by the TOA forces that were trying to restore order across the former Fourth Reich.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Near Petropavl

The four TOW III and two ACCSW (Advanced Common Close Support Weapon-12.7mm) armed Hummvees had the whole city of Petropavl in view. In the front of the heavily armed trucks the passengers were looking at an overhead view from a Predator drone circling high above. The smoke obscured the picture from time to time but the city was one confusing place. There were what appeared to be troops toward the southern reaches, using North Germanian equipment. They were firing mortars and small artillery pieces northward where the view was filled with Nerotikan tanks, vehicles and troops rapidly advancing behind a wall of steady artillery.

The recon unit dare not go any further. Around half of 158 Corps was advancing slowly behind them across a four mile front to the east of Petropavl.

Through the secure radio network the soldiers in the recon unit heard the Air Force jocks begin to check in as they crossed their Initial Point. Then the radio went silent before LG Wallen's voice was heard clearly saying, "All units, All units...MARY. I say again...MARY."

The code-word flashed across the screen on the passengers side of the Hummvees and they advanced to a higher point overlooking the city to watch the battle unfold.

The 15 Crusader TMAS', the 15 MLRS' and the 15 M112 203mm artillery pieces began to fire in unison. The missiles and shells from these fearsome weapons shot high up into the air. The shells were guided by the Excalber system and flew straight and true, while the MLRS missiles were guided electronically down onto their targets.

The recon units watched as the first 155mm rounds fell close but short. Then the 203mm shells exploded on target toward the front right of the Nerotikan advance. Then the MLRS missiles began to rain down in a line straight across the front. It was perhaps twenty seconds before the next barrage of shells began to rain in on the front lines. It would take at least ten minutes for the MLRS to completely re-load and fire again.

The aircraft tasked for the support of forces near Petropavl split off, with the three A-10X's and five F-15L's speeding toward the western flank of the Nerotikan forces. They didn't engage the front lines and spat out long lines of flares as they crossed over the Nerotikans. Their targets were the Nerotikan artillery units behind the lines. The eight planes unleashed seventy AGM-65X Maverick missiles at the enemy artillery and banked away hard to the west.

The ground vehicles of 158 Corps advaned to the east, a few kilometres away from Petropavl and then began a diagonal march in toward the western Nerotikan flank, protected in the air by F-104's and F/A-22's. The units out in front were the fearsome M1A5 Fuhrer-Abrams MBT's. The Nerotikans had nothing in their arsenal capable of defeating it and before the Merkava's had any Hirgizstanian forces in range, 125 M1A5's began unleashing deadly fire upon them.

The Hirgizstanian forces were unstoppable. They would make quick work of the Nerotikan advance.

OOC: Nero, its un-clear as to whether you have actually taken Petropavl or not. I have assumed you are almost in control of it and your hitting it wirht artillery while advancing with tanks and other units toward it. If you could clarify that it would be great and I'll change my post if I need to.

Field Marshal Harun al Roon look at the situation very carefully, he didn’t want his front army group in Turkistan to rush in head first. His first course of action was to active the reserves and then sends 20 Reserve divisions to garrison Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. This was to insure the supply lanes were secure and protected for TOA taskforces. Plus this free up his army group to advance forward into Kazakhstan, it was going to take his forces roughly two days to get to the frontlines and be fully organize for combat. Along the rate, the Eurasian forces try their best to enlist the Germanian army units to fight along side them against the threat to the north.

Meanwhile, Eurasian Air Command send orders to wing commanders to begin the battle for the skies of Kazakhstan. 400 ACI-73 Aquila fighters were deployed to partake in the battle for air superiority and to provide air cover for the attack air wings compose of 200 A-10C Thunderblot II. The A-10s begun their attack runs, their targets were artillery formations. They dropped cluster bombs and thermite and destroy their targets.

Also Eurasian Air Command issued orders for a massive cruise missile strike to damage the Nerotikan supply lines. With that four heavy bomber wings(80) of B-9A Sphinx, were deployed once within firing range, over 480 cruises were fired their targets were railway lines, highways and bridges anything that was vital for logistic.

Command Post
Force ECRF
Aktobe, Kazakhstan

Colonel Tidwell stood in stoic silence as he studied his topographical map of Aktobe. He had positioned his lightly armed force in a position best to repel an armored advance. Connective fields of fire interlaced down most major streets throughout the south of town. Javelin crews readied themselves in hides ready to cripple advancing armor at key intersections. The lack of armor at his disposal concerned him, but he did what he could with what he had. Various positions had been stabilized to withstand aerial assault should it come. In addition GlobalHawk UAV’s scoured the approaches the Nerotikans were expected to take. Each unit was further connected to the BATNET system and tied to AWACS and other early warning aircraft aloft to ensure the Force would be warned when the enemy was within missile range. The silence was broken by a rumbling in the distance. Some of the junior officers began to scurry about the command post as one muttered the Nerotikan’s are coming with Armor!

Tidwell growled at the NONCOM’s. “Quiet! Don’t get so unnerved it shows weakness to the enlisted men, besides that rumble is coming from the wrong direction our eyes in the sky have been tracking this movement for a few hours. Rest easy men, while I ride out to meet our associates.”

Tidwell climbed into his LV-10 Wapiti command vehicle and sped West. As he topped the knoll outside of Aktobe a large column of Tanks came into view. A group of CV2’s halted and the column followed suite. As Tidwell climbed from his vehicle and began to approach the CV2’s a tall but muscular individual stepped from the rear of the CV2 and approached him. Dressed in a dusty Desert BDU the man looked worn.

Before Tidwell could speak the man spoke first, clearly English was not his first language of choice.

“Is it true what the radio says? Will the Hawdawgian Government pay the North Germanian Army to help against the invading hordes?”

Tidwell replied, “You bet, in fact I have been authorized to recruit as much of the NG Army as possible to stem this invasion. The October Alliance intends to see that Kazakhstan is free of tyranny.”

The tall German spoke again, “Very well. I am Field Marshall Von Trap, we are the reminants of the I Corps. We were in route to the front when our SATCOM went dead and the propaganda from Nerotika said NG was no more. We didn’t believe it, some troops walked away, some we shot for refusing to join us and some I am afraid will end up with the Nerotikan Army. Is it true they are executing troops that fail to join there cause?”

“That’s what the reports say, our scouts have yet to verify it, but INTEL from HQ says its happening. Personally I would not put it past them. But that really doesn’t concern me at this juncture, I have two small elements defending the entire eastern flank of Kazakhstan and my reinforcements have yet to arrive from there assembly point 10 clicks North of Aktobe. To put it mildly Von Trap, we are in a shit storm without much armor. So what are you bringing to the table?”

“I can help with that Colonel we have 220 Panzer IX MBT’s along with 160 Panzer IV IFV’s. I have at last count about 7500 combat soldiers in this group but our logistics are shot. We were originally a force of 30,000 strong with 500 MBT's and 250 IFV's. I would have had more tanks but we simply didn’t have the diesel. But don’t worry we destroyed 180 MBT’s and some 90 IFV’s with thermite grenades when they ran out of fuel. I haven’t had water or food for my troops since day before yesterday. This is partly why we headed west hoping to cross another unit or supply line on the way. The fact that your government will pay our salaries will keep anymore from deserting.”

“Field Marshall lets get your forces moved into town, we have a lot to do before the 7th Mechanized Airborne arrives from the North. As far as your logistical concerns do not worry, we have FOB’s in Turkey that can have your units resupplied before the end of the day. In fact, I will make the call right now for an emergency air drop. My logistical boys attached to this ECRF outfit will setup a staging ground in a secure portion of town so we can roll your men through, supply them and get them in the fight. Remember when our nations decided to standardize our ammunitions? That was the best damn thing they did. And rest assured Field Marshall with your added armor and that of the 7th this place just got a whole lot more prickly for the Nerotikan’s.”

The move was made as the FOB’s scrambled to load supplies via transports setting on “hot start” close to the hangars. The ground crews rushed to fill them with supplies and get them airborne as quickly as possible for the three hour flight from Turkey. Tidwell’s scouting party had made contact with the 7th Mechanized Airborne North of town and they had finally assembled and were moving towards there destination. The BATNET system was alive with squalk and chatter from the other various Mechanized Airborne Units. They all had made the jump and were in various stages of moving towards there objectives. Most would try to be in position before nightfall but time would tell if that would become a reality. All Tidwell knew was he had a force multipler show up in the North Germanian Armor a small positive that had come out of the dreadful chain of events that unfolded during the day. He hoped the 7th would make it into town before nightfall, he wanted to work out defensive positioning with all the commanders. But for now he settled for working out strategies with Field Marshall Von Trap.

The initial Vesta strike had done well, shattering many of the Nerotikan positions. Still, it wasn't enough to fully stop the Nerotikan advance. There were still twenty-four missiles ready in the immediate inventory with another ninety-six just twelve hours away and another one hundred and ninety-two a day away. The quasiballistic missile had been used against Pantheaan and now Nerotikan forces with great success. Another twelve would be used in the next strike by the Layartebians.

As the TELs prepared to launch, Layartebian fighter aircraft joined the aircraft of the Kazak's, Hirgizstanis, and Eurasians over Kazakhstan and began to conduct a myriad of operations. Layartebian fighters concentrated mostly on the air patrol role, looking for and shooting down Nerotikan MiGs, and one other role, suppression of enemy air defenses. Eurasian forces would concentrate on ground attacks and the Layartebian aircraft would provide cover for them. Fighters armed with long-range and short-range air-to-air missiles took to the skies offensively and those armed with anti-radiation missiles joined the flights. Many hung back to protect Layartebian positions far south of the frontline while others moved up to strike.

With the entire area of battle under the footprint of the Layartebian air defense units in Kazakhstan, the Nerotikans would have a lot to worry about when they pushed south. Thus far, they had seemingly secured Petropavl with a large number of Germanian defections but that wouldn't necessarily be the case further south. Eurasian forces were moving up from the south, pancaking any groups loyal to the Nerotikan cause and they would be joined by Hawdawgian and Hirgizstanian forces just the same. With the initial propaganda campaigns in full swing, the Layartebians found many of the Kazakhs willing to fight against the Nerotikans. The sheer turmoil of Nerotikan history did not dissuade them, especially given their stable and seemingly flawless past as a member of the Reich. The Reich had viewed Kazakhstan as the Germany of the east and Kazakhstan was the single most important state in the Reich next to Germany. While Germans professed a sense of racial pride, they viewed the Kazakhs as brothers. When they fought in Portugal, they were highly decorated and revered by their German brothers.

The Layartebians were, seemingly, the last to join in the push against the Nerotikans following the fall of the Reich. The combined forces of Hawdawg, Eurasia, and Hirgizstan were enough on their own. Layartebian ground forces would, for now, hold back, defending the Layartebian bases until the full corps of 56,000 men could enter the fighting zone early on the third day of the war.

For now, the Layartebians worked to help. While coded messages went out through the TOA-secure networks of the upcoming Vesta strike, Layartebian jamming aircraft arrived on scene. They would join the Hirgizstanian Commando Solo aircraft and not only jam enemy communications but broadcast their own propaganda. The message was simple: "Throw down your arms. Return to Nerotika. Do not die for the corrupt pigs of your government!" The message would repeat over and over, with many other messages.

The Vesta strike was underway shortly thereafter, twelve missiles moving at Mach 6. These were the last of the Mach 6 missiles. New motors had been fitted to allow the Vesta to travel now at Mach 8 as the production models began to roll off the assembly lines.

OOC:This is so I can get this takeover out of the way, Pushka can deal with the rest of this either in a new thread or just in here.

The skies across the border between Omsk and Novosibirsk slowly became darker and darker as three hundred or so para-drop plane's flew over toward the capital city of the germanian state. The russian population in the area rejoiced as the Nerotikan troopers dropped into the city, directly on it as the germanian military in the area had not covered the air at all leaving it open to the twenty MiG's left in the nerotikan southern air force to drop down missile attacks and bombing raids across the state desimating anti-air facilities. 14,000 men dropped into Novosibirsk as the remaining 15,000 flew en route into Altay-Kray where they expected any federation resistance to start at. Along with the paratroopers were an armored force of 720 Merkava MBT's that moved in to support the infantry planning to cover the states within two day's. The defensive positions of these tanks and of the paratroopers would be temporary but they would be aimed toward the federation border, the russian threats would not phase the Nerotikan state and they planned on fighting for these lands without question.

As the nerotikan military had done in the past, even in soviet years, propaganda spilled out into the state's. Recruitment ads, and now an effective slogan "Protect yourself from the real threat." with a picture of the federation flag on top with hands reaching for the two state's. Promises of good training and good pay poured out into the population. (OOC: just basics, so im there...more details in my actual post)

Outskirts of the Capital city, Kirov, The State of Kirov.

Several artillery units had been moving about lately getting into defensive positions covered by several kirovian state guards who had been building up the sandbags and setting barbed wire across the roads. It seemed the world was against the Nerotikan's now, even the Federation who was a trustworthy russian ally had now turned on them and allied with the October alliance faction. Whether an actual alliance was made would never be disclosed but it was apparent they were in this to eliminate the CSN from the face of the earth and take over more russian land. The forty-three artillery pieces that were left unscathed from the cottish bombardments were now in place and ready to fire at any federation advance toward the city. The remaining northern armored division of 130 MBT's along with two regiments of a combined force of 31,000 would move to the rear of the federation unit and attempt to sandwich them.

Once ready the artillery would open a barrage of fire at the federation forces aided by the armored division and infantry regiments attack on the rear which would occur only when federation troops crossed the line of being a threat and openly attacked nerotikan people, civilians or military. The northern army now was almost depleted of air unit's, a last force of 13 fighters/bombers remained in the MiG-71's but the decommissioned MiG-29's, which numbered 520 in the Kirov state alone, were now being recommissioned and prepped ready to go back into the skies for a final attempt at claiming the Nerotikan air space. SAM sites around the city had taken a large hit from the cottish attacks, only 3 sites out of the 21 remained ready to engage any enemy bombing of the city. 85 Mobile SAM launchers were being brought up with the armored division, once an opening in the federation line was cleared they would barrel through and locate themselves around the city.

OOC: Ok finally, here ya go...The full Kazakhstan invasion.

Orenburg, Air Base Lukutia (twelve miles out from the Kazakh Border)

Lukutia was full of activity recently, thousands of Paramarines had arrived recently to the air base and preperation for what was first a strike against the german forces and now was an attempt to take the Kazakh capital before TOA forces placed a foothold. The german army no doubt would fight for the capital, there was no question resistance would be faced but with the fall of the german reich and most of its major generals had created less resistance but the germans wern't stupid. They had plenty of weapons to repel the nerotikan advance just no command but they knew how to use the weapons on their own. The capital would most likely be one german post that was under command, however, and with the lethal strength the germans had without command it would be an almost suicide mission to attempt this sort of drop. This was the Nerotikan's favorite though, a suicide mission for his country.

As the first runway became active, eight plane's starting up and taxiing out after loading up with forty marine's, the other three runways started to take life as well. The planes gathered in a line, the first group preparing to take off, and the marines on the group dissapeared into the 42 large drop plane's gathered all around. The air force had learned its lesson frmo before, twelve planes loaded up themselves with armored unit's and their crews ready to drop and drive immediatly. 22 Puma IFV's loaded into the twelve plane's, two for each one, along with two large supply crates with everything from ammunition to basic foods. The IFV two vehicle unit would protect the crate's until paramarines arrived to take control of the ammunition, it would be a slow process but in the long run they expected to bliztkrieg the germans in the capital. The drop would take place 4 miles out, close enough to march within a day but far enough that inner city defences wouldn't open fire on the planes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Advance toward Aqtobe

The eigth regiment advanced slowly, thanks to a few german encounters most of which went peacefully the rest resulted in small casualties on both sides. The group's losses, however, were replaced with a new greater weapon. This weapon was ther germans themselves, they had found while encountering the resistance that if they deployed an allied german unit out the enemies would be less likely to fire. This resulted in talks between the unit's, allied and enemy, which gave the nerotikans a chance to recruit or disband the enemy. The german allies would say things such as "Brothers at arms, we are not your enemy. The nerotikans are not your enemy. Our reich has fallen and the TOA has done nothing to preserve our state, instead they capture our land and take over our people. Your Kazakh land will fall to the Eurasian empire, given to them by the very TOA you choose to fight along side. Do not let them fool you, brothers, take back this land and allow the Nerotikan government treat us like the people we are instead of resources in the land we live in."

The advance would need to speed up soon, within the day the paradrop near the capital would take place and the assault on Aqtobe was ment to divide the attention of the OA coalition. This distraction, along with an assault on Pavlodar and the full takeover of Petropavl. would allow the paradrop to land behind TOA lines and take Astana quickly.

(OOC: Ok...fuck it, im lazy and at school so here's a summation of my advance and whats going in.)

”Mother Hen, this is Royal Cottish Air Force Cobra flight with four A-16 Torden CAS aircraft, Cobra 2-1 speaking. I’ve got some enemy arty up here, request permission to engage. Over.”

“Cobra 2-1, this is Mother Hen. Confirm arty nationality please. Over.”

“Checking it on FLIR now. Looks like N-LOS artillery units. Only the Nerotikans operate those. Over.”

“Understood Cobra 2-1. You are weapons free, cleared to engage. Good hunting. Mother Hen out.”

“Wilco Mother Hen. Cobra fight, you heard the man. Weapons green. Spread out, pick a target and kill it. Good hunting. Over.”

Immediately after the contact with the allied command aircraft – probably the Layartebian E-10A – was concluded, the captain commanding Cobra 2-1 banked his A-16A Torden ground attack fighter hard left, decending to a more appropriate flight level while preparing the missiles, bombs and the 30mm Gatling cannon mounted in the nose of the rugged, agile fighterbomber. The A-16A was a further development of the venerable A-10C Thunderbolt, and retained the GAU-8/A Avenger 30x173mm seven-barreled Gatling cannon in the nose, complete with 1 350 Depleted-Uranium rounds ready to be fired. Additionally, the Torden had eight hardpoints rated at 525 kilograms underneath the wings and three fuselage hardpoints rated at 1 000 kilograms each, allowing it to carry plenty of bombs and other munitions to war.

For today’s sortie, the Torden was loaded with twelve Corona (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13301167&postcount=279) anti-tank guided missiles mounted on the inner four wing fuselage hardpoints, with three per hardpoint . The Corona was a light anti-tank weapon designed by Doomingsland and quickly becoming the mainstay light anti-tank missile in the Cottish arsenal, being armed with a powerful tandem HEAT warhead that would penetrate up to 850 millimeters of armored steel (or its equivalent). Now, this wasn’t necessarily enough to penetrate the front or side armor of a tank, which was why the missile was designed with top-attack in mind, negating that advantage due to the lighter armored roof on these vehicles. Additionally, the Torden was fitted with two ATC-50 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13163989&postcount=14) 500-kilogram anti-tank cluster munition canisters, each with 480 submunitions, to the next two wing hardpoints, leaving the outer two hardpoints for two LLM.41B Arbiter medium-range air to air missiles for self-defense from enemy aircraft. The three fuselage hardpoints had been reserved for two 1 000-kilogram unguided bombs and a single AIC-50 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13163766&postcount=10) 700-kilogram anti-personnel cluster munition canister with 250 submunitions. All in all, the Torden had a pretty good potential for taking out the enemy artillery.

The pilot leveled his aircraft off at 300 meters, not wanting to get too close to the ground in the dusk of morning as he screamed towards the enemy at a speed of 650 kilometers per hour. His first target was the Nerotikan artillery pieces, which would receive one Corona missile each. At eight kilometers out, the maximum range of the Corona, the pilot had made sure that each missile tracked its target and opened fire, pressing the fire button on his joystick as quickly as he could twelve times.

The missiles released and streaked towards their targets, their course taking them straight and true towards the enemy. Confident the missiles flew towards their targets, the pilot released the fiber-optic cable that connected the missiles with the aircraft immediately after the missiles were fired, allowing him free movement of the aircraft once again. As the aircraft flew quickly towards the artillery position, the pilot selected the 30mm cannon and selected his first target, a Nerotikan N-LOS cannon. About that time the Coronas hit their targets, illuminating the battlefield as they detonated the artillery shells stowed with the cannons. The pilot smiled as the dull yellowish flash illuminated his target.

A quick squeeze on the trigger and some fifty 30mm rounds later, another flash illuminated the battlefield as the Nerotikan Army would scratch one more of its precious N-LOS cannons. The pilot pulled up and looked for another target, selecting a grouping of cannons a tad further away to be the next people to knock on the gates of Hades. Selecting the ATC-50 cluster dispenser, he flew his aircraft straight to the enemy artillery position, waiting until he was just over the units before he released the dispenser.

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj146/Eeobroht/A10.jpg

480 shaped charge bomblets, each capable of penetrating around 190 centimeters of armored steel, were spread out over a significant area, making it impossible for the enemy artillery to move out of the way in time to avoid the destruction and devestation that the cluster munition created.

The four Torden fighters carried on for another half hour before they returned for home, confident that they had done their mission and done it well, devastating the Nerotikan artillery positions. The most amusing thing of all wasn’t the large explosions and destruction they had caused, but rather the fact that the Nerotikans responsible for planning this failed invasion couldn’t have been quite sober when they planned it, with no air defense assets deployed. No SAMs, no AAA, and no MANPAD teams defending the forces. The Torden fighters had deployed chaff and flares routinely as a precaution, but they hadn’t been targeted. That little mistake on the behalf of the Nerotikans had just cost them a significant portion of their already diminished artillery stock.

OOC: If I read your post right Nero you are still 1 day away from Aktobe? Within 300 kilometers for sure.

Somewhere south of Aktobe

Sergeant James Allen peered through his 12x observation camera attached to the M3 RECV. This vehicle had served him and his crew well before and they were about to test the capabilities in real time. Carefully he rotated the lense and drew in the approaching columns of hardware. As he dialed the magnification up the markings and shapes confirmed Nerotikan hardware. A good commander always deploys his scouts early to get a feel for the terrain the approaches and most importantly an early warning of approach. The Recon Battalion had been dispatched on long range patrols for two days now and most had reported nothing of significance, today that would change for RED-6.

Sgt. Allen’s crew had complained when he took them almost a mile off the beaten path to a location that would allow monitoring of the southern approach while offering the best possible cover. They had griped when he had them cut native brush and carefully disguise the exposed section of the M3 that wasn’t hidden in the ravine. They even went as far as questioning why they were running on battery power instead of the engine. Funny how no complaints of the days work before came when contact was made with the enemy.

Sgt. Allen lit up the BATNET system for all OA forces to hear.

“GOBLIN this is RED-6. We have confirmed visuals on multiple inbound targets, Armor, IFV’s, some Arty, estimate at division strength, over.”

“RED-6, confirm distance, direction, and travel over.”

“Roger, tracking now. Distance 5000 meters, direction vector 35 degrees NNE, speed 5. Computer generating GPS fix now.”

The ranging computer began to calculate through various logarithms the GPS coordinates via the ranging information.

“Sending data now GOBLIN.”

The BATNET sent the necessary data to paint the visual picture for Colonel Tidwell and the OA Forces. Instantly the AO map had the hostile force plotted and this data was uplinked into the system to share with the Forces in the area.

“RED-6 maintain contact, do not compromise position. We are engaging in less than two minutes, stand by.”

Colonel Tidwell tapped his touch screen and rang up the (18) HIMARS units attached to the Mechanized Airborne Division that had arrived during the night. Nine of the trucks were armed with the MGM-140 ATACMS Missile system. Four sported the Block 1A a GPS guided variant armed with a payload of 300 M74 submunitions that served in both the antipersonnel and antimaterial role, five were armed with the Block II a GPS guided variant armed with 13 Brilliant Anti-Tank submissiles a top-diving tank busting missile patterned after the popular Hellfire variants.

“GOBLIN Battery ATACMS fire mission, over.”

The Lt. in charge of the Fire Support Battery sprang into action as the HIMARS units tilted upward ready for action.

“Roger, Battery ready.”

“Transferring coordinates. Multiple contacts, be advised this is an AT APAM launch, over.”

In less than a millisecond the BATNET connection revealed the coordinates, GPS devices inside each rocket were programmed via the connection between the launch vehicle and the network. A fire order came and simultaneously nine rockets screamed from there cases downrange.

Over the rear of the column of Nerotikan Forces four MGM-140 ATCAMS armed with submunitions opened up and rained down some 1200 M74 APAM’s (it basically a cluster bomb) onto the formation. While these rounds wouldn’t do much to armor or IFV’s, troops outside, various unarmored support equipment, ammunition haulers, fuel tankers and other unarmored vehicles would suffer from the tungsten balls released into the group. Next came the MIM-140 Block II’s armed with the BAT submissiles, designed to eliminate armored or hardened threats. As each of the five missiles opened and released 13 Brilliant BAT submissiles all 65 BAT submissiles emerged.

Each of these wonderful submunitions carried the unique ability to identify individual targets they were going to attack so no two missiles would hit the same target twice. The infared seekers went hot as they dispensed from the ATACMS and locked onto the heat signatures of 65 separate armored vehicles. The lead vehicles in the column were selected as that is where most of the Command and Control vehicles were located. The sky lit up with balls of fire as these 65 BAT’s slammed into the lead armor in the column.

Sergeant Allen clicked his headset to the on position and wired this simple message to Colonel Tidwell. “Multiple targets engaged, positive hits. Several units destroyed column has halted, over.”

He then put out a flash message for any AIRCAP forces in the area.

“GOBLIN, Be advised Nerotikan column bearing 35 degrees NNE, speed 5 has halted GPS position attached. We have engaged, multiple targets still active requesting any available air assets to engage over.”

Summary:

Column acquired by RECON unit hidden in an M3 RECV well out of site of the main road. ATACMS strike called for from the ECRF camp.

4-HIMARS units armed with Block 1A ATACMS (w/ 300 M74 submunitions per rocket) fire four rockets into the rear of Nerotikan column dispensing 1200 APAM bomblets.

5-HIMARS units armed with Block II ATACMS (w/13 Brillian BAT submissiles) open up over the lead of your column and 65 individual BAT submissiles select individual armored targets to engage in a top diving attack.

M3 RECV reports direct hits, additional airstrikes are called for from OA AIRCAP patrol’s in the area and coordinates are relayed via BATNET to all available resources.

The Eurasian Air Attack Wings that were in the area, heard the Hawdawg call for a air strike against Nerotikan forces near by their location. Soon 40 A-10s made their attack runs on their foes, using their anti-tank guided missiles to destroy the armor columns and then they drop their payloads of cluster bombs. Soon the Nerotikan armor columns will be no more..

OOC: Im estimating a complete slaughter of my forces in Kazakhstan, its a useless fight that cannot be won and in my arrogance I should of realized that. I will be surrendering forces soon along with the inagueration speech from Miss Chairman Victoria here, she will be addressing the military leaders of the Nerotikan army in her speech and will cry out to TOA nations for mercy. I obviously do not have the ability to wage an accurate RP war at this current time and would prefer to leave now before I loose hundreds of thousands of lives without even a dent in the Kazakh front.

Kirov, CSN

The new chairman stood high above the crowd, her podium large uptop a stage infront of thousands of supporters and her new congressional council. Along with these men sat the military leaders of the CSN forces, a major issue which resulted in her gaining the position being the conflict in Kazakhstan which was both started for no reason and continued without cause. Kazakhstan had once been an ideal move for the CSN who wanted control of resources and trade in the area. Of cource with the fourth reich controlling the massive territory it would prove hazardous and yet cries of war shouted out pushing the CSN into a conflict for no reason. The congressional council had been imprisoned for abusing their powers and the chairman who had approved of such action had stepped down allowing this women to take his place. Tanya Victoria of the Nerotikan Reform Party, a women who's pressence demanded attention, who's speaking ability had gained thousands of supporters among the people and who's own world was that of a war torn land.

Tanya was young, 42. Too young, some might say, to hold the position of chairman and yet there was a quality about her that gave her the right to hold that position. When she stepped up to the podium infront of that crowd she had a certain stone faced glare and once she spoke people knew she was the right choice.

She cleared her throat and began to speak."Men, Women citizens of Nerotika. Welcome to the future. The world we live in is full of enemies, at home and abroad and this is an aspect to living we must adjust to. We've been brought up from the ashes of a torn empire, from the ruble of a crumbled regime and we are almost whole. There are peices missing, one peice being a resolution of the Kazakhi conflict which was started and continued for reasons beyond reason. People of this nation want to see an end to this conflict before thousands more lives are lost to a cause which has been lost already. We will resolve this conflict by surrendering to the TOA coalition fighting the german war against us. All germans who have choosen to join our side will be allowed citizenship for them and family members of those soldiers will be given free transportation to Nerotikan states. If they choose the alternate they will be left to the TOA nations to decide their fate. Nerotikan military troops will from this point retreat back to the border and secure in case of a counter attack. TOA nations will be asked to give mercy to these men who's lives have been scarred by the death and pointless bloodshed of their brothers in arms.

"Our neighbors, the Russian Federation, have felt the need to threaten us in order to bully themselves into the eastern territories. We have landed forces there already but are willing to surrender them in exchange for peace between our nations, as well as their withdrawal of troops from this Kirovian state.

"Military might is not the only way to determine the strength of a nation, our strength will be political and diplomatic. Where we no longer wage war to gain our interest, where we talk to nations rather then reject their reason. Our strength will be measured by our people and that resource alone is what makes a nation stronge. The people of a nation must be cared for, their opinions must be heard. They are not useless resources to be thrown to war, they are not numbers.

"Our economy is in a shocked state, much thanks to the soviet regime, and reforming that should have been Mr. Darinsky's main objective. Instead he sought imperial expansion through force, immitating that which was done to us by neighboring Cotland. The fall of the fourth reich brings many new nations of which to talk and trade with, these talks will be peaceful and obviously trade with European nations will be profitable for all of us. Profit is the only idea I want to stress in this first term, I want this nation to rise to economical power and not military.

"Before I end this speech it must be said that there is much more I will do for this nation. I ask of the people, I alone cannot run this nation, you must be with me. You have proven by me standing here that you trust me. I ask that you carry on this trust, I ask that you support this withdrawal of troops from Kazakhstan, the incorporation of a more capitalist economy and ask that you support my extention of peace toward the October Alliance. United we will stand against our enemies and against all odds. We will stand stronge."

Kazakhstan, Nerotikan Military Radio

"All forces this is a maditory retreat. Halt all advances, surrender all positions and pull back to the homefront. Raise the white flag and surrender youselves to the mercy of the Octorber Alliance. Let them prove they have moral values beyond ours, their propaganda says we are the violant ones and let them prove it. All german forces within the Nerotikan ranks are too be given munitions and supplies as well as a safe route to the nearest Aazadi camps to support the insurgency, if they choose to come back they will be given full military citizenship as well as a 2 year contact in the Nerotikan military.

"That call once again, retreat to the homefront. All Nerotikan forces. Fall Back!."

[I wil get more in detail about the retreat...hopfully when I get back from work, but its back to the ol' grind.]

With the Nerotikan announcement of surrender, the Layartebian military was pleased. The Minister of Defense, who sat proudly at his desk and watched the speech, immediately issued an order with full backing of the Emperor for all Layartebian offensive operations to cease. Layartebian units would not proceed across the Kazakh border and into Nerotikan territories. They would remain in defensive formatons, continuing combat air patrols and other patrols on the ground. Layartebian units throughout Kazakhstan would receive their stand down orders immediately and would remain that way until the last Nerotikan units left Kazakhstan.

The success of Layartebian military units in Kazakhstan was overwhelming. However, it wasn't a flawless victory. Nerotikan forces managed to down several Layartebian aircraft, most of the air crews being killed in action. The Vesta strikes had been the largest succes by the Layartebian militay and the quasiballistic missile proved itself to be more than a formidible weapon in the right hands. Now having been used against the Pantheaans, Nerotikans, and Amazonians, the Vesta short-ranged quasiballistic missile was finally put into active Layartebian service. However, it entered service with some changes. Prototype and IOC missiles were equipped with a propulsion system that only granted them a top speed of Mach 6. Newer propulsion would increase that speed to over Mach 8, giving the Vesta an undeniable edge over any other missile in its class. Warhead options and range was retained and the missile could now strike with less warning time than before.

Memorials were planned back at home for the lost Layartebian airmen and plans were being made to replenish lost aircraft. In total, the Layartebian Air Force lost a single MH-60G Pave Hawk during a rescue mission, all of its crew lost; a pair of F-16G Super Falcons, one pilot surviving; two F-35A Ravens, both pilots lost; a single EA-5F Vigilante, its crew surviving; and three F-22B Raptors, two pilots lost. Of the nine aircraft lost, three were due to mechanical problems and the rest were due to hostile enemy action, including one being downed by a man portable surface-to-air missile, fired from a Nerotikan soldier on the ground, possibly a special forces or reconnaissance team that was acting behind the front lines of the battle. One of the F-22s downed were reportedly due to friendly fire but no conclusion could be drawn to support the claim. Layartebian military installations were largely spared thanks to their positions way behind the front lines and the veracity of Layartebian airmen to defend them at all costs. During one significant battle near Atbasar Army Airfield, a battalion sized element of Kazakhs, loyal to the Nerotikan cause, fought on for eight hours as Layartebian paratroops pounded them with artillery and air strikes. In the end, Layartebian causalties numbered under thirty while most of the Kazakh battalion was eliminated. It was during this battle that the Imperial Layartebian Army lost a pair of helicopters, one RAH-70A Arapaho conducting fire direction and a UH-72A Lakota evacing injured paratroopers. On board both helicopters, nobody survived. In total, Layartebian forces suffered thirty-three fatalities and over eighty injuries, over half of them career ending. The low casualty figures were mostly inflicted by Kazakh loyalists, largely attributed to the Nerotikan failure to attack Layartebian positions.

Hailed as a military success, the Kazakhstan War would go into the Layartebian history books as yet another glorious victory. Hoping still to eclipse the horrific defeat in Kaliningrad, Layartebian officials saw the Kazakh victory as a necessary boost to morale as troubles at home began to really take their toll on the morale of the Layartebian populace. As it was though, Kaliningrad was yet again at the forefront of Layartebian attention. Independent now from the Fourth Reich, whether or not Kaliningradians sought to exact revenge against Layartebians was a major issue. Would the Empire be dragged into yet another war with Kaliningrad?

158 Corps, Petropavl

The Nerotikans hadn't put up much of a fight at all. The initial armored assault toward Petropavl had been mostly destroyed by the Hirgizstanian advance, with a loss of only one aircraft and two helicopters, along with twenty-eight soldiers and two Cougar 4x4's.
The short, intense battle had been a complete wipeout with the M1A5's dominating as always.

It had come as a major surprise when the remaining Nerotikan forces began surrendering across the entire advance. Word eventually filtered down that their entire military operation in Kazakhstan had fully collapsed and they were running back home as the cowards they were.

Unluckily for the 15,000 or so Nerotikans that had survived their advance on Petropavl they had no chance of retreat. Their lines had been broken, their flanks destroyed and their escape routes cut off. Their only option was to surrender to the Hirgizstanain and Germanian GSF in Petropavl.

GeneralMajor Rickenback and LG Wallen were there to personally receive the surrender of the ranking Nerotikan, a General. Rickenback said nothing the entire time but his feelings were obvious.

The Nerotikans believed, mistakenly, that by surrendering they would somehow be let go to return home or sent to POW camps to await release at some point. They were very wrong.

The Hirgizstanian and Germanian military forces organized the demobilisation, taking Nerotikan weapons, vehicles and anything except clothes. The Hirgizstanian command knew that they had to show the Germanians not only that they meant business, but that they were very much on their side. Thus, it was decided that all of the Nerotikans would be executed. This would act not only as a lesson to the Nerotikans themselves, but to splitter groups, rebel groups and North Germanians thinking of resisting. The COH did not deal with enemies lightly. As well as being a brutal example, it would save time, money and logistics by not having to deal with 15,000+ POW's.

Assembled in various places around the city the Nerotikans were mown down were they stood by machine guns on vehicles and the troops guarding them. Piles of bodies soon lay where they once stood.

Mass graves were dug by military ATL vehicles and the bodies shoved in, to be covered in quicklime and earth. The actions of the Commonwealth, while perhaps seen as extreme by others, were perfectly justified. A loss of 36 Hirgizstanian soldiers would be avenged many times over, as it would be in all wars against any adversary. The execution of around 15,000 Nerotikans was the price they had paid for starting a war they had no chance of finishing- a war that had cost the lives of Hirgizstanian soldiers. It was a war the Nerotikans could never be allowed to forget.

OOC: Nero- I'm not entirely sure of what your troop numbers were advancing to Petropavl. In Post 46 in this thread you mentioned 40,000 troops and another 13,000 advancing to what I assumed was Petropavl. Allowing for a battle to have taken place, I took the number that would have survived to surrender at around 15,000. Thats where I took the stats from if you were wondering.

Official Message from The Russian Federation

We are outraged by the actions of the Hirgizstanian military. We have never approved of the war that Union of Soviet Republics started but this, this is an evil beyond all words. The lack of humanity displayed by Hirgizstanies in executing fifteen thousand Nerotikan soldiers is a disgusting, inhumane act that puts the recent advances made in our own relations with the nation of Hirgizstan in jeopardy. It is a war crime, nothing less. We officially denounce Hirgizstanie actions and are forced to freeze our relations with the nation of Hirgizstan until further notice. We thought that we could find areas of cooperation with Hirgizstanies, that at the end of everything all of us are still human beings that want nothing but peace, obviously we have been gravely mistaken.

Priority: High
Recipient: Commonwealth of Hirgizstan, World Nations
Origin: Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Classification Level: Encrypted
Subject: Kazakh War

The actions of the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan are most disheartening. The victory over the Council State of Nerotika was a decisive and honorable victory that the October Alliance can regard with high regard in our history books. However, the subsequent actions of the Hirgizstanian military in the execution of Nerotikan POWs is and was completely unnecessary. Not only has it stained our victory but it has cast our alliance into a darkened corner of the world as new nations are born. Nations that could have once looked to us as examples and as a source of guidance will shun us and keep our relations chilled.

The Empire of Layarteb condemns the actions of the Hirgizstanian military and refuses to acknowledge any lectures from the Commonwealth on human rights issues, particularly those concerning Mato Grosso and the Amazonian Control Territory.

Sincerely,
The Minister of Foreign Affairs

Classification Levels

Standard: Standard classification is the normal level of encryption. It is equivalent to the standard levels of encryption seen on most secure e-mail clients.

Confidential: Confidential classification is a higher level of encryption than "Standard" but it is not heavily encrypted. It is used mostly for flash traffic to foreign countries and requires some additional decoding time. It uses 512-bit RSA encryption methods and has several key ciphers that change unpredictably.

Secure: Secure communiques use 1024-bit RSA encryption and several key ciphers within them that change unpredictably to ensure that message traffic is not hacked or decoded. Access to said messages would require heavy cracking software and significant resources but it is not "uncrackable." It can be a viable level through 2010.

Encrypted: Encrypted classification is the second highest level of classification. It is uses 2048-bit RSA encryption and multiple key ciphers within it to ensure that cracking it would take such a significant amount of time to accomplish that, should it be done, the message's usefulness would have already expired. Though anything is crackable, because of the methods employed, this level is often considered "uncrackable" by current capabilities. To ensure revolving protecting, ciphers and encryption algorithms will change unpredictably. This level is sufficient until 2030.

Maximum: Maximum classification is the highest level of classification available. It uses 3072-bit RSA encryption and multiple key ciphers that change unpredictably. It can provide protection past 2030.

Experimental: Currently not a fully recognized level, experimental denotes a category using 15360-bit RSA encryption and multiple key ciphers that change unpredictably. It is not in full operational use as of yet.

WORLDWIDE CIRCULATION
SUBJECT: Execution of Nerotikan War Criminals
FROM: Hirgizstanian Department of Defense

The world has been quick to condemn Hirgizstanian actions in Kazakhstan and we stress our sovereignity in this respect. We have no obligation to explain our actions to anyone outside of the Commonwealth.

But, we have seen fit to explain.

The 15,232 persons executed in Kazakhstan were regarded as 'War Criminals'. Under the COH Military Penal Code, 'War Criminals' are to receive the death penalty. In this case, as in many others, said persons received it.

We also must stress the strategic logic in dealing with these so called 'Nerotikan Soldiers' If indeed they were soldiers of the Council State of Nerotika, we have severely dented their military numbers and provided a service for the people of Kazakhstan. The 15,232 'soldiers' no longer pose an invasion risk.

Our actions also stand as a lesson for the Nerotikans and any other foe's that decide to rouse the Commonwealth to action.

Official responce by the CSN Federal leader, Chairman Tanya Victoria.

Condeming such actions taken by the state of Higizstan would be too light of an action for such an event that has taken place. The slaughter of our people cannot go without punishment, no matter the situation to which they were placed in such a position. Modern warfare has made the battlefield dealier than ever and yet even off the field our soldiers are gathered up and killed, after a full surrender. No matter the reasons the killing of so many people cannot be tolerated by any nation and the CSN will make sure that Hirgizstan feels the ramifications of its actions one way or another.

The only real war criminals now are you and those forces responsible for taking such action. The congressional council that had taken these men to war had been delt with by the Nerotikan legal system and most have been sentenced on war crimes against our own constitution for abuse of power. Wherein you punish the man following the order we punish those responsible for giving the orders and as said before will make sure he see's justice in this era.
