Massive Shipbuilding Program

IDF

The IDF fleet had been aging for a while. The newest vessels in the once proud navy were 20 years old and having serious maintenance issues.

FADM Joseph Jacobson had been retired for a while now. He was saddened to see what had happened to the fleet he had once commanded. Something had to be done. After a meeting with the Likud heads, he was able to regain his commission and given the tough assignment of rebuilding the Navy.

The job would take decades, but it would make Israel the most powerful force on the seas.

The first order of business was opening up new shipyards. The giant yard at Haifa was busy building the new flagship, but other yards were needed for smaller vessels and subs while the Haifa yard built the giant capital ships.

It was hoped that in 5 years, the first wave of brand new ships would be entering sea trials to join the new flag ship.

The design bureau was busy creating new designs. The old ship designs were still adequate, but they weren't to the level of excellence expected of the Israeli Navy. In 20 years, all current IDF vessels would hopefully be decommissioned and replaced by thousands of new vessels.
