New Brittonia

An elderly Middle Eastern man walked up to a black podium. He walked up to it in stride, straightening his trademark pure white suit while numerous domestic and foreign photographers took shots at him. Mohammed Javaid, the Prime Minister of the United Socialist States of New Brittonia stopped at the podium, fixed his grey hair, and said,
“Good afternoon everyone, I’ll try to make this short. In September, the tragic death of our Prime Minister and my friend, David Flower occurred. Because of this, I was forced into the spotlight of power, chosen by my friendship and unforeseeable circumstances as the Prime Minister of New Brittonia. However, I have never wished to be Prime Minister, and by the beginning of 2008, as I was bound by honour to serve out the year of 2007, I will resign from the office of Prime Minister of the United Socialist States of New Brittonia and Chief Communard of the Communist Party of New Brittonia. I wish to tell you this early in time, as I believe that your elected Members of Parliament, your fellow Communards, need time to choose a successor. Thank you all for listening.”
