Paramus, Northern Peninsulas State, Northern Zanski
Paramus was the poorest city by far in Zanski. Spanish Merchants had purchased the city as a colony in the 19th century and a hundred years of lost wealth followed. The espano-paramusians, as they were called, were known as factory workers, miners, builders, drug dealers, prostitutes, and were depressed generally.
"up with the workers" had been graffitied over most of the slums, the slogan of the anti-government gang known as the Labourer's Army. The L.A had been supressed, but when the old leader was assassinated, a new leader, Pablo Azani, had been voted in by the gang members. He was an excellent speaker, and had touched the heart of the city by setting up youth rehabillitation programmes, paying off the education fee for the poorest slum-children, setting up free soup stalls and most importantly, using his words.
Azani had been so supported in Paramus that he could publicly lecture in the streets without fear of assassination.
"Do not fear the soldiers," He would say, "For I have proof that in this city that many support me, and you, and the fight for communism."
His other main points were re-establishing ties with UFAN and creating a state in Chitzeland for the self-exiled 97 million Chitzes living in Zanski.
