TENSION GROWS IN COLSTREAM REGION AFTER INNER COLSTREAM BORDER IS CLOSED COMPLETELY

Tension has grown dramatically today after the Inner Colstream Border was closed after a speech by the East Colstream Leader Nigel Brecken said "to stop the escape attempts that has caused severe loss of revenue to the country, the border between the 2 Colstreams must be Closed". Traffic was halted last night at around 23:30 Colstream Time causing traffic trying to leave East Colstream to go back home. The Republic Of Colstream has gone on full military alert due to the fact of Nigel Breckens dream of a "united socialist Colstream". All military forces are on red alert and the Colstream Army has 50 divisions which is more than the 34 divisions the East Colstream Army has, on alert ready to storm the border. Diplomats in Ashland and Hetuarie are now trying to diffuse the sitaution which could lead into a full scale war which will be the third war in the country in 8 months.

To Antigr:

The 2 Antigran Armoured Divisions will be needed as there is suffient intelligence saying that East Colstream Forces will attack in 4 days. We have other than the 50 divisions ready, we have another 75 in reserve but we won't need them because that is nearly triple the forces they have. Plus they have no Air Force or Navy so this will be a few days campaign if it happens. The East Colstream People are suffering under the communist regime in East Colstream so we might have to invade to stop the executions. What do you think??

As this is thought to be a covert operation, he will not take any weapons with him. Therefore, we ask you to provide him with weapons. He will need a good sniper rifle, including ammunition, a easy concealed knife, a selection of poisons and 1 meter of fishing line. He will also need operational intelligence about Nigel Brecken, i.e where he live, where he work, which way he takes to work and so on. Our agent´s cover will be as bussinessman Friedrich Draken. Excellent. The information have been sent to our man. Where can he retrieve his equipment and false passport?

The telephone awakened Markus Wolf, a spy and assassin working for the Zaheranian government. He reached for the phone. "Wolf".
"Agent Wolf, this is Spider. We have a Code Red situation. Report in to Station 2 in thirty minutes. They have orders waiting for you".
"Confirmed, Spider. Just let me put my clothes on first, will you?"
He hanged up and stumbled out to the shower. Fifteen minutes later he strode out of his expensive apartment, now shaved and dressed in a grey bussiness suit. His driver were waiting in the car, reading comics as usual. He looked up as Wolf got into the car. "Good morning, sir. Where are we going this morning?"
Markus yawned. "Station 2, please".
The man grinned. "As you wish, sir. A beautiful day, isn´t it?"
He started the car. The vehicle steered out into the trafic. Markus settled back in the comfortable seat and tried to read his paper. But for some reason he just found himself reading the first line over and over again. His mind was already focused on the coming mission. What would they require him to do this time? Would he be taking another life? See another head through the telescopic sight, once again pull the trigger, once again see the hole the bullet made, once again see the lifeless body fall headlong to the ground?
The car stopped. He got out and walked into the large, gray building which belonged to AISB, the Zaheranian intelligence service. He showed his security pass to the guard at the door. The man looked at it. "Welcome, mr Wolf. Spider is waiting for you".
Markus nodded and entered the building. He took the elevator to the fourth floor and walked down the corridor to the right door. He knocked. "Come in, Markus", a voice answered. "I´ve been waiting for you".
The door opened silently and Wolf stepped in. The man sitting behind the desk in the middle of the room was old, but his green eyes were as cold as a frozen lake. He took up a sheet of paper and a airplane ticket. "Here you have your mission and operational intelligence. Memorize it, then destroy it. Your plane will leave in two hours".
Markus nodded and took the sheet. He read through it and then looked at his chief. "You want me to kill the leader of East Colstream?", he asked in a cold voice, empty of feelings.
Spider nodded. "Correct. Any problems?"
Markus shook his head. "Shouldn´t be any. He will be well-guarded, of course, but I´ve had worse targets".
"Good. Now leave. Your plane is leaving soon".
Markus nodded and walked out of the room. He memorized the sheet of paper and then threw it into the special trapdoor, leading to a large oven where the paper would be burned.

General Sandrez was awoken by his assistant. He was at Mt. Kiriov Military base in western Antigr, and had only just been told of his deployment before he went to sleep.

"Whuh...oh, Johnson...it's six in the blessed AM! You'd better have good reason for this"

"Yes, sir. The Commander-General wants to see you. He's waiting in the MVCo command vehicle outside"

"What does the five-star general want to see me about at six in the bloody morning?

"Your deployment, sir"

With that, Sandrez got out of bed. He thanked his assistant and ushered him out, grabbed his clothes, got into them, and rushed outside and into the command vehicle.

---------

It was one and a half hours and three cups of coffee later that Sandrez emerged from the vehicle, at the same time that Commander-General (That's five stars) Kierian also left and jumped into a Jeep.

Before he left, Sandrez asked a few final questions.

"...So, we'll be going in by air?"

"Yup"

"Three divisions?"

"Yep"

"Which ones?"

"I already told you. The 57th Armoured, 3rd Infantry, and 18th Mechanized. They're on rapid deployment shift, it's their turn. See ya"

Sandrez walked back to his tent. His assistant, Lieutenant Johnson, was a kind man and had got breakfast for him.

Sandrez sat down and talked it over with him, even though it wasn't strictly any of the Lieutenant's business, he always talked to him anyway.
He eventually decided that they would leave in 48 hours. They would have to leave in a huge swarm of transports, and he'd have to contact Colstream to have them prepare four of their largest airports for their landing - more, if possible, and the closer together the better.

After he'd finished, Johnson offered to take the plates back to the mess. As he did, Sandrez walked over to one of three communication huts and put the calls through.

Nigel Brecken never heard the shot that killed him. The bullet entered his left temple and exited through the right side of his head. The 2 bodyguards started to scream that their boss was dead. Markus didn't mind. He was more concerned about getting back to the Inner Colstream Border before his pass expired.......

He quickly left the scene and hurried back to his hotel room. He gathered his belongings and checked out from the hotel. Once again he took a cab to the train station...

He arrived at the Train Station. He boarded a train which thankfully had no conductors on it due to a strike over pay. He arrived 40 minutes later at the Inner Colstream Border. He handed over his pass 20 minutes before it expired. He then boarded a Train heading back to Ashland. He sat in First Class drinking a glass of 1895 Colstream Grown Vintage Champagne named "Vitrois". As he left the Train at Ashland he saw the evening edition newspapers. He picked up the COLSTREAM TIMES Evening Edition and paid for it at the Kiosk. He scanned the front pages. The Headline at the top read "EASTERN COLSTREAM PRESIDENT ASSASSINATED!!!! Markus smiled to himself. He knew that he had done his job perfectly. Now he had to wait for more instructions.......

WAR IS DECLARED BY REPUBLIC OF COLSTREAM:

00:32

At 00:05 this morning the Republic Of Colstream launched a full scale invasion of the Peoples Republic Of Colstream. This comes after reports of mass executions by the communist government. Levels of tension came to a head yesterday when the East Colstream President, Nigel Brecken was assassinated by an unkown person leaving the country's leadership in chaos. 80 Colstream Army Divisions breached the Inner Colstream Border and has started to move in 3 Directions. One spearhead is heading Northeast to move north of Hetuarie, another one is heading Southeast of Hetuarie and the final one is heading for Hetuarie itself. The East Colstream defences has been overwhelmed along the whole Inner Colstream Border but progress is deliberately slow to prevent supply problems. Meanwhile, the Colstream Air Force is bombing supply depots behind the lines to prevent the East Colstream Army from being reinforced or resupplied. The Republic Of Colstream has called this action "Necessary to prevent instability of the region".

There has been little damage caused by the Invasion as the resistance has been very little or none at all. The Current strength of the East Colstream Army is now around 14 divisions but even they are severely weakened by desertions and soldiers being captured. There has been no loss the Colstream Army and they are about 4 hours from Hetuarie. There also has ben no bombing of Hetaurie as the Republic Of Colstream Government wants to enter an undamaged Hetuarie.

I would like you to make a dash for Hetuarie. You have 20 Colstream Army Divisions ahead of you. Once you get there can you help secure the city and please try not to destroy any buildings as the Colstream Government wants Hetuarie to be untouched.
NOTE: Be prepared for many prisioners as the East Colstream Army's morale is collapsing.
Also your line is to be only as far as the rail junction as the Capture of the East Colstream Parliament building is to be done by us. Hope this doesn't offend you.

The Serene Democratic People's Fiefdom of Otiacicoh

The Serene Democratic People's Fiefdom of Otiacicoh is disgusted and appalled by the actions of the Republic of Colstream in the illegal and immoral invasion of its neighbour, the Peoples Republic Of Colstream. Such an act is repugnant to all nations that value the rule of international law and especially to those that have dedicated the energies of the workers, peasants and soldiers to the establishment of a socialist society.

It is with this in mind, therefore, that the Cihuacoatl, together with the deputies of the National People's Soviet, have refused to recognise the legitimacy of the current occupation of the Peoples Republic Of Colstream by their vile capitalist neighbours.

Further, severe repercussions will occur should western Colstream forces not return to their positions behind the Inner Colstream Wall and pay reparations to their neighbours for this cruel war and the assassination of Comrade Nigel Brecken.

The Fiefdom, thusly, urges the Republic of Colstream to consider its position very carefully. That is all.

Oh, and it's all Colstream's fault for retaliating to a rebellion that must have killed thousands of their own. It's all Colstream's fault for not just sitting back and watching them kill people.

The war's already over. Colstream did what anyone else would do - crush a purely evil rebbelion to save the lives of innocent civilians. No-one liked the People's Republic of east colstream, and it only existed because it tried to kill everybody.

Do us a favour, and leave it by the side of the road.

ooc: Right, a number of points on this one:

1. The whole name of this thread is "Colstream Treaty ratifies Divide" which means that it's not an "evil rebbelion" but a straight war between two countries.
2. It's called "role-play" because that's what you do, you pretend. As a communist nation, I couldn't give a damn over the morality or otherwise of the People's Republic, I'm going to stand up for it. My own personal view is wholly irrelevant. It's called 'pretending'.
3. You bumped this thread, what the hell did you want to happen? A picnic?

To:The Serene Democratic People's Fiefdom of Otiacicoh
From:Republic Of Colstream

The Republic Of Colstream rejects these accusations outright. There had been many escape attempts made through the Inner Colstream Border which was made worse by these events:

1. Execution of Anti-Communist Sympathisers
2. The adoption of funding terrorist organisations
3. A purchase of a nuclear device destined to be sold to a terrorist organisation.
4 The event that set the war in motion- The acceptance of a SS65 Thermonuclear Missile that was to be used on any country.
Also i would think of YOUR postion. I have several allies that would help me if i was attacked. Plus i have recently manufactured several new Thermonuclear Missiles that could spell disaster for your people if used. We don't want a war. Especially a Nuclear War. The Colstream Government doesn't like war and only goes to war when International Security is threatened. Like Antigr said we were saving our own people. Even the people under the regime didn't support it so it was going to collapse anyway. It was a lost cause. We would like not to hear from you again on this matter. The matter is final. Do not attempt anything that will unstablise the region as there will be ruthless consequences.

OOC: Suppose you were right on the pretend-type government positional roleplay, but as for the rest of your comments, they are neither constructive cristicism nor helpful in any way.

If you'd bothered to find some history before posting, you'd find three threads or more containing the 'evil rebbelion' - which there is more than one of, I think - and also your picnic comments are no use either. I'd take them as far as 'stupid'. Bumping can not only be used as an item to keep a thread top of the forum, it can be used as a prompt for others involved already to post, or if a post has not occured for a while it can remind those people that this thread is still alive, and again, as a prompt.

I'd reccomend you don't use military action. I kinda regard Colstream as...well, big confession here - kind of an ally and definately someone high in my good books. So, I'll defend Colstream, then you'll attack me, then I'll call in the ADAN, then you'll attack them, so one of the ADAN will call in the CA and then the CA is huge with lots of multi-alliance members so they'll probably call in every other alliance in history.

The Serene Democratic People's Fiefdom of Otiacicoh

The Serene Democratic People's Fiefdom of Otiacicoh admires, at least, the candour of the Republic of Coldstream in defending its actions. And, while it possesses a nuclear arsenal of sufficient size to reduce the Republic to glass, we do not wish to exacerbate the suffering of our fellow socialists in the People's Republic by causing another major war.

That said, Otiacicoh still refuses to recognise the legitimacy of the current administration and while continue to view as sovereign the People's Republic of Coldstream. Any Communists wishing to establish a government-in-exile within the Fiefdom are invited so to do.

Further, the Fiefdom will watch the "so-called" Republic's actions very carefully in future and will warn, in advance, not to test our patience further.

For the moment, however, that is all.

The Communists in question were allowed to move overseas and not kept imprisioned under the new laws that were just recently passed. They were given a place in the reunited Colstream Government. You are on your own as several other nations have recognised our government and it will be the current government. We will only change governments when we hold an election. We give notice that in 2 weeks time. the Republic Of Colstream holds an election. We ask that his election is not disturbed. This election was announced just after the reunification. Also in a referendum just after the reunification, 95% of the population approved the war to reunite the country so that should be the end of the argument.
