Failed Coup in Southeastern Greenland

Southeastern Greenland
03-11-2007, 04:07
From the People's News:
Today in Angmagssalik there was an attempted coup to overthrow the Prime-Minister Anders Jacobsen of the People's Party. Tanks (whose orgins were unknown) commanded by rebels paraded through the streets of the capital as solemn crowds looked on. There was limited fighting throughout the streets of the nation's major cities as these forces attempted to take over. The forces are now confirmed to be commanded by the Greenlander National Party in an attempt to destroy the democratic socialist state of Southeastern Greenland. The rebels bore the uniform of the Southeastern Greenlander military although a majority of the military stayed on the side of the government. Bombs went off all over the country as it descended into chaos. By 5:41 PM the fighting had stopped, and Southeastern Greenlander military forces loyal to the government had regained control of most of the country, and they were met by cheering crowds. Until further notice, the National Assembly has banned the GNP and GNP members of the NA have been put into temporary holding.

We request that our small nation is helped in this time since our recovery will be slow, and we are seeking suggestion on the action to take on the GNP after this crisis.

We thank you all for your aid, and we will be most willing and thankful to have a peace meeting on one of the Kelnoriem ships off our coast, we think that will be best suited tomorrow around noon. Sorry Republic of the Red Islands, but we do not have the money right now to pay for the soldiers, and the rebellion for all intensive purposes is over, but we think peacekeeping forces will be necessary for a few weeks, so we gladly take the aid from Belkaros. The soldiers from Belkaros will be housed in barracks across the country depending on where they are stationed. We hope they will not have to actually use force, for their role will be only peacekeeping. For their help we would be glad to give something in return, although money is not really an option right now.

Thank You,

You need not worry about compensation at this time. We would indeed be hypocrites were we to deny aid to a fellow socialist nation in their time of need. If you would simply feed and house our men in your territory, we can discuss compensation later. We are alsp preparing to dispatch 5 tons of relief supplies and 15,000 gallons of water to ease the burden on your civilian populace. We will loan you these supplies again, with the expectation that you will pay us back in time.

To Belkaros:

We accept your terms and we will find a way to pay you after this is all over.

To New Brittonia:

The Southeastern Greenland envoy exited the car, it was a black Saab. He was a young tall man of Inuit descent, wearing a black suit. He walked over one of the large runways of Angmagssalik International Airport and took the hand of the Nabila Kitchab. The car ride was long and quiet, through the windy streets of the large city of Angmagssalik, a city with a population of over 20 million. He parked outside a large old building, and he led the representative up the large stairs of the National Assembly into the small private room, there Albers Jacobsen and other important government officials were. Jacobsen began, "It is not often that we have violence in our country, for this is the first time anyone in our small military has ever had to fire a gun at someone. We graciously await what you came here to say..."

To the Indonesian States:

Even though we have ideological differences we accept your peacekeeping force with graciousness.

From the People's News:

After the recent coup led by the Greenlander National Party the GNP is still banned in the nation and now GNP members of the National Assembly are released from temporary holding and are allowed to stay with their families, but will not return to the NA until the matter is resolved.

Peacekeeping does not necessarily imply military force, it is only there if anybody poses a mortal threat to anybody. Also, the GNP are a minority, so most people support the peacekeeping forces. In one week the peacekeeping mission will be over.

Meeting between GNP leaders and Prime-Minister off the coast of Southeastern Greenland:

After both leaders had stepped up onto the ship, they shook hands with eachother and Lord Kele Nickolai, who would be monitoring the talks. They both took their seats, and Prime-Minister Jacobsen started the conversation: "After the recent attempted coup, even though the wound is still fresh in the hearts of the people of Southeastern Greenland, we would like to make peace talks and discuss the matters of lifting the GNP ban with conditions." After three hours of talking, peace was officially declared. It was decided that peacekeeping forces from a coalition of nations would remain in Southeastern Greenland for another week, and that the ban on the GNP would be lifted with the following conditions:
-All GNP meetings have to be monitored by the police force.
-All GNP National Assembly members (51 out of 358) will lose their seats, but they can run again in the next election.
-The military of Southeastern Greenland will be downsized from 400,000 active soldiers to 198,000 active soldiers.
Both leaders emerged from the meeting smiling and they shook hands once again. The conditions will officially be known as the Heltown Peace Agreement (because of the meeting was off the coast of Heltown.) The Prime-Minister released the following statement: "This is a victory for peace, democarcy, and diplomacy. We have succeeded today in avoiding armed conflict with diplomacy. I extend all my thanks to all nations that assisted us by sending peacekeeping forces and aid."

I don't think that you can overthrow our government just like, that, you have to plan everything out and explain it and how it is possible.

Secret Transmission to TSRT from GNP:

Yes, the whole peacekeeping move was just a publicity stunt, to convince them we have given up. We have been concerned recently about police secretly picking up our members and interrogating them, it seems that they know we are talking, so we must move fast. We request that the TSRT invades Southeastern Greenland and hands over control to the GNP. If payment is necessary, we would be more than willing. We still have contacts in the army that would be more than willing to help with the invasion.

Several Weeks After Departure, Nearing Southeastern Greenland

The MiG fighter was fired upon by Red Tidean MDSM-6 Surface-Air Missiles as it made its visual confirmation. Four SAMs streaked out of their VLS tubes and raced towards the MiG. Given the MiGs close proximity too the ships and the number of missiles fired at it, the plane would have little chance of escaping.

"They will still take a few days too mobilize." The General in charge of the ground forces said too his counterpart. "By the time they are fully mobilized, it will be too late."

A few hours later

The Carrier and two Dreadnought Battlegroups hung back, 20 kilometers off the shore of [insert SEG's Capitol here]. The transport convoy moved closer in, so as too let the landing craft get ashore. The first landing hovercraft roared onto the SEG shore and let its ramp down, disgorging its soldiers and equipment. Red Tide had landed, it would be difficult too dislodge.

Simultaneously, CM-2 Cruise Missiles roared out of their VLS tubes and on towards their targets: the important government and military buildings in [insert SEG's capitol here].

The missle wizzed over the Prime-Minister's head. He heard an explosion about a mile away. He hit the speaker button on his phone, "Janice, I want everybody in is this city out of here. I have now officially declared DEFCON 1." He picked up his personal items, put them in a box, and ran out of the office. "Janice, come with me! We need to get out of here!" His secretary followed him down the stairs, the people in the capitol building were breaking down and running, the country had officially descended into chaos. "Sir, Lord Kele Nickolai wants to meet with you today." "OK, I want all the embassies evacuated, and have Nickolai meet me at the Sallik Retreat." After emerging onto the chaotic street, Prime-Minister Jacobsen ran to his armored Saab with his assistant Janice, and they sped away.

The Sergeant looked out of the bunker, the Red Tide troops were making their way up the beach. He yelled into his phone, "WE NEED AN AIRSTRIKE HERE NOW! YES, THEY ARE ON THE BEACH! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE ARE NO AVAILABLE PLANES! THEY ARE FIGHTING THE RED TIDE NAVY!? OK, I WANT MISSILE STRIKES HERE NOW! OVER AND OUT." After two minutes, the small missiles wizzed over their heads, "GET DOWN NOW!" The seargant shouted. The explosions lasted for twenty seconds, and the Sergeant looked over the bunker wall again, about half of them were dead, but more made their way up the beach. "ARGGHHH! KILL THEM ALL ALREADY!" By now the machine-guns had arrived, and they were mounted on the bunker walls, and they began to mow down the troops on the beach. Their numbers were too high though, and eventually the bunkers above the beach had to be abandoned, but they had taken nearly three times as more as they had lost. The 2nd Armored was on the way behind though, and they were fresh troops. Two soldiers brought him five prisoners, "Shoot them." He had no trouble saying it now, after they had done this to their country. The Sergeant looked one more time at the beach, he saw even more advancing, but the fight was not over yet.

More evacuees were coming, and the Civic Servant couldn't handle them all. She was up to her chest in such evacuees, as the evil and barbaric invaders bombarded their city, even though her country had done nothing to them. She could not cry, she had to inspire these poor people. She saw a little girl with her mother, she knelt down beside her and said, "Everything will be alright." And she smiled at her mother. Everybody was getting on the trains, heading west to safe zones. She hoped that the United Nations would intervene and that this horrible war wound end.

A survivor from the small town of Verbel ran gaping into a military base today ten miles from the coast, with horrible news. The invading forces from Red Tide had marched through the town of Verbel, and it seemed like everything was normal. But later that day the troops rounded up the townspeople that had not fled in advance, and had them march to a nearby field. The women were raped and the children and men shot in cold blood, and few survived. This is an example of the evil that is spreading from the growing menace of the invading forces. The Prime-Minister made the following statement, "If these pigs can come into a neutral nation and kill its people in cold blood, then we will fight them to the last man! We are a strong people, and I trust every one of you to fight hard, and not give in to them."

"Well, there was the recent incedent in Verbel, why the hell did the Red Tide soldiers do that? We are dealing with a neverending army of barbarians. No matter how we conscript, the Red Tide nation will always have more to conscript. We need the aid of a bigger power, maybe even an alliance. We are currently planning an offensive, but we cannot use fair tactics anymore. We are going to use half the remainder of our airforce for this mission. Well, a few years back a scientist with mental issues came up with a horrible technology, a large gas bomb. This bomb when dropped from an airplane explodes and immeadiately kills all in a 10 meter radius, and then it spreads its toxin gases for miles. We hoped to never to have to use it, but we are going to have to. We currently have 10 stocked, and we are using a lot of our industrial capability to make 5,000 more. We are going to drop them overnight on every camp and area of enemy troops, and hopefully it will reverse the tide."

The Imperium of Belkaros has been a poor ally to Southeastern Greenland during this time of war. If we are allowed, we will engage the Red Tide using the Belkan Dictatum Bellum (Rules of War). Our system will allow us to attack without mercy and give no quarter to the mongrel dogs who have injured your nation so terribly. We can mobilize our forces and arrive within the month, with a smaller lightning strike force (not included in the previous list) of 5,000 men and 100 armored vehicles within the week.

The Beachhead

As soon as the missiles were launched, counter-battery RADAR tracked the weapons back too their launchers. Immediatly, the big 25" guns on the two Super Dreadnoughts slung around and fired, even though out of sight of the coast, the flash from the guns lit up the sky even from shore. The monstrous shells screamed towards their targets.

Although the Red Tidean troops had seen the incoming missiles and hit the ground, the explosion produced... moderate casualties for a platoon(50 men). About 12 soldiers lay dead and another 17 wounded, although these calmly got up and walked away. Among the regiment that consisted of the first wave, the missiles were merely an annoyance.

When the machine guns opened up, the Red Tidean troops expertly hit the deck and called in offshore artillery on the bunkers which had just foolishly exposed their positions. 122mm and 152mm artillery rounds from off shore ships began to detonate lethally close to the Greenlanders bunkers.

I can't promise air support either, I do have a country to defend." He called one of his men in. The man was carrying a radio. He set it up and Kele picked up the headset. "Bravo, Gulf, Charlie, One, Five, Niner," Kele said into the headset. "I repeat, Bravo, Gulf, Charlie, One, Five, Niner." He took off the headset and said, "Well Albers, my troops will be here soon, some kind of air support for my transports would be helpful.

OOC: To clarify, Belkaros has sent 24 warships. I'm sorry for not making this clear earlier. To specify, the battle group consists of 1 Belkan Leviathan, 5 battleships, 5 cruisers, 4 submarines, 3 frigates and 7 destroyers.

IC: The Belkan Clanculus Team crept up to the Red Tide base. They planted explosives on the AA turrets, SAM sites and most of the artillery they could reach. When their mission was complete, they vanished into the shadows, knowing that their specific talents were needed elsewhere. Inside the Red Tide command center, the first Belkan bomber wing came onscreen. The order to fire the anti-aircraft weaponry was given, and massive explosions rocked the base. There would be no anti- aircraft fire tonight. The bombers dropped their laser guided payloads and destroyed the armored instillations.
Less than an hour later, Belkan troops and armor secured the beach. The area was theirs, and they were yet to take a single casualty. A command center was established, and Emperor Gnaeus Mundus was flown in. Using satellite and radio linkups, he issued the following proclimation to the peoples of Southeastern Greenland: "Comerades of Southeastern Greenland, I, Emperor Gnaeus Mundus, and the People of Belkaros support you. We have landed the first of our liberation forces. We ask that you stand up to the Red Tide in any way you can. Burn, steal and kill. Fear not the hero's death you may recive for this, fear the coward's death you are promised if you do nothing. Fear not our troops as we liberate the cities and towns of Greenland. Though we may request supplies, we are not invaders, and will return control of the country to those from whom it was so unjustly taken. Be stand tall, comerades, and know that the might of the Empire of Belkaros stands with you."

OOC: Actually, I think you are RPing rather unrealistically... I mean, them dodging the missles, come on... It's not 2561....

OOC: Where did I say they dodged missiles? All I said was they hit the deck, which will reduce death from any shrapnel significantly. I assumed your missiles had high explosive warheads(which would be used against infantry), but given that they are, as too use your words, 'small missiles', I assumed they didnt have that big of a warhead. So my damages are realistic now post yours.

Belkaros: Your attack is ignored. First off, what base are you talking about? My troops are still landing. Second off, any decent, permanent military base would have all sorts of sensors and gaurds posted all over the place. Third, I would have detected your bombers a LONG way off and might have, might have not scrambled fighters too intercept. Fourth, apparently your(attempting too) land in my rear, how did you get past the freaking huge fleet just off the shore? Finally, you posted my losses, as already stated above, that is godmodding.

OOC: OK, maybe the base thing may have been a bit off, but I think them taking the beach is fairly realistic.

IC:

Talk with Kele Nickolai:

Albers nodded his head. He picked up the radio and began speaking, "Bravo foxtrot henhouse, the tree requires sunshine. I repeat, the tree requires sunshine, over." He put down the radio, "Air support is on its way."

In small village on the coast:

The woman looked up into the sky with her small baby. The village had a garrison of surviving troops that had been hit rough at the beach, and a total of three tanks. In the sky bombers and fighters dotted the sky, and one plane spelled out in the clouds: "Liberation." "Help is coming." She whispered to her baby. The Belkan army was coming, and the liberation of the nation was at hand.

Meanwhile, in the far west at a military base:

Colonel Jonson strapped the last of the bombs on the airplanes with his crew. The bombs bore a toxic symbol, and every time he saw it Jonson felt something in his gut. Night had almost fallen, and the crew and the Colonel walked off the runway. The signallers came out, and the planes started up and took off one by one. The Colonel saluted every pilot that passed in his plane, and he knew that the Red Tide troops would be in for one hell of a fight...

"Sir..." The Red Tidean Officer in charge of the RADAR net said too the Back-Admiral sitting near by, "We are detecting a large scale air raid in progress at this time, number of planes [insert number here], range, 120 kilometers, well within all missiles. Suggest intercept according to standard anti-air doctrine."

The Back-Admiral smiled an amused smirk, "Do it... five missiles per plane."

The VLS tubes shot open and a horde of MDSM-4 and MDSM-6 SAMs shot out and screamed towards the Greenlander and Belkaros aircraft. Red Tide was applying its full force towards the enemy, five missiles were targetted on each individual aircraft. Their destruction would be swift, lethal, and instant.

The Beach, following the retreat of surviving Greenlander forces

A entire Armored Division and several Motorised-Infantry Divisions had landed, along with their supporting logistics units. A Mechanized-Infantry Unit was in the process of landing and several 'Mulberry-esque' artificial harbors had been set up. MDM-4 Surface-Air Missile Launchers were also being set up, with MDM-6 Mobile Surface-Air Missile Launchers already on shore and ready too provide anti-air protection.

Finally, the MDM-8s Multiple Rocket Launchers locked into firing position. These rockets were aimed not at any enemy units, but at the Greenlander Capitol City itself. They were loaded not with their usual high explosive rounds, but their warheads were filled with deadly VX Nerve Gas.

Three hundred of these launchers volleyed off their all of their rockets straight into the heart of the city. With three hundred launches, sixty rockets per launchers, that meant that 18,000 rockets were about too land on the hapless city.

The Grand World Order will deploy a force of 3,000 North American Continental Police to Southeastern Greenland to help keep the violence down, and to help enforce the law. To combat the hostile Red Tide invasion, the GWO will send a Astrid Orbital Spacebattleship for bombardment and surveillence, as well as 4 Armored Infantry Regiments, who should be expected to arrive from Federation-controlled provinces in the former United States in about 45 minutes. The North American State Militia of the GWO is also deploying troops. They will be landing on the Western Side of Greenland, but will arrive to the combat zone within minutes. A fleet of 15 battleships, 3 aircraft carriers, 20 destroyers, and 5 submarines will be defending the landing force, as well as combatting the Red Tide.

Total troop count:
NACP: 3,000 Officers.
Federation Navy: 1,500 crew members, 500 marines, 30 Space-enabled F-35 fighters.
Federation Army: 4,000 Infantry, 300 Divine Tiger Heavy Battle Tanks, 10 HPACVs.
North American State Militia: 3,000 Infantry, 50 Divine Tiger Heavy Battle Tanks.

Impossible, there is no logical reason too fit two guns on a tank. Furthermore, a tank slightly bigger then the M1A2 Abrams would be incapable of fitting a single 200mm cannon, much less two of them. Secondly, a half a foot of Chobham armor is actually pretty damn thin. According too a calculator I found on the web, 6 inches is 152 millimeters. My APC-45 has 48 more mm then that at the thickest point, my heaviest armored fighting vehicle(XHSPTD-01 'Medusa') has a full meter of armor at its thickest point.

OOC: I was tired, and I have been diagnosed with slight mental disability, pardon any inaccuracies. The HPACV is actually supposed to be practically invincible to an average attack, however, a medium-large group of tanks have been known to be problems. It's firepower and armor are the reason for it's low speed. And the logical reason for fitting two guns on a tank is for firing alternatively. You have an extra loader in the crew, so that while one barrel is being loaded, the other is ready to fire. And I mistated the armor of the Divine Tiger, it's supposed to actually be several feet of chobham. As I said before, I have a slight mental disability, so pardon my inaccuracies.

IC:
As the fleet of Federation forces grew closer to the Western coast of Southeastern Greenland, the troops aboard stood, ready to disembark the ships quickly, as time was not to be wasted. The HPACVs were to be carried by trucks while they were intact, in case the convoy was attacked. The soldiers each put on their headgear, and the green and red cameras of the soldiers' gas masks started to glow, faintly, but still light-producing. The Gas Mask has always been the most sentimental part of the Federation Military uniforms, including Civilian Control units and other law enforcement. For the military, the lens were actually cameras, feeding enhanced images and outlines of living things that registered on the mask's sensory system. Law enforcement had Heads Up Projecters installed in their masks, which had normal glass lens.

The landing boats landed on the shore, and the soldiers quickly made their way to the vehicles that would take them to the West coast. They weren't going to bother with Greenland's Eastern cities, as their main concern was the Red Tide invasion. It would be another hour until they reached their destination. Meanwhile, the Seafleet that escorted them went around the Southern tip, to combat the Red Tide navy. In the Space above Greenland, the Federation Astrid-Class Spacebattleship had already reached the West Coast. The ship began broadcasting information to each of the soldiers' gas masks, providing them with breifing and sattelite images. The cannons aboard the Astrid were aimed towards the Red Tide Fleet, and awaited orders to fire upon the fleet. However, the ports in the ship spat out Federation enhanced space-enabled F-35s, which plunged towards the Earth. As part of their enhancement, they had an automatic flare gun attached to them, as well as the previously stated ability to cross into the atmosphere.

OOC: Sorry about the godmoding, but I don't think that it is unreasonable to assume that a fresh force of 60k+ could take a small beach outpost ( I was picturing tents and sandbags around mobile AA and SAM equipment driven out to secure a nonvital beach). I will avoid this in the future, but come on, it would be even more of a godmod to deny that you could have stopped such a defeat.

IC: The landings had gone according to plan. The Belkan army had landed and established a base. The Emperor had gone to Godthab to meet with Prime-Minister Albers Jacobsen and Lord Kele Nickolai. All of this brought a thin and fleeting smile to the otherwise grim visage of Genralus Grandis Randolph Spangler. His men had been treated as liberators by the greatfull people of Greenland, and so far, no serious combat had taken place. An airstrip for their SU-90s had been found and their bombers were only ten minutes from any given target, not to mention the 350mm Belkan Grandcannon aboard their Leviathan. He made a few calls to various units, learned that the AA and oceanic defenses had been successfully established, and sat at his desk with a set of terrain maps, waiting for his phone to ring and deliver his orders.

OOC: Point 1: You never said it was a large force... as a matter of fact, you said it was a small special ops squad combined with an air assualt, followed up by your main force landing(which couldnt have happened anywhere near my forces due to my navy).

Point 2: If its nonvital, my forces would not have put any armored installations or SAM equipment there, anti-aircraft guns... maybe, all of my armored personnel carriers are armed with 30mm autocannons originally intended for the anti-aircraft role, but can double as a highly effective anti-infantry weapon. Too get too these would require sneaking right by the sqauds they are meant too carry, a task that would be rather difficult.

OOC:
1: Using an alternate thruster than the normal, jet engine. This reduces speed, but still makes them able to fly in space. They're space enabled for quick transport from Earth-to-moon, or for avoiding anti air defenses.
2: Pressurized cockpit with pressurization gauge to maintain a certain pressure within the cockpit.
3: Using the same material used on space shuttles. However, this is designed to shed off, so that the special radar-avoiding material can do it's work.

IC:
The force had arrived in the combat region. The Army began setting up a base, and the NACP officers marched into the city, expecting cheering crowds, etc.. But they didn't come across anyone. Their gas masks started displaying the "dangerous gases present" symbol on their lenses. "This is officer F-CPEU-33, we have discovered that there are toxins in the air in the capital. We've already set up patrol routines, but I don't think anyone is still alive here, except for those wearing proper gas masks." said one of the NACP personnel into his gas mask's communications device. He, and most of the other officers knew what was coming next: An explosive artillery bombardment or an offensive. He checked both his PSARS semi automatic riot shotgun and his PI-7 Submachine Pistol to make sure they were ready to combat any Red Tide forces.

Meanwhile, offshore of the Eastern Coast, the Federation Navy units were prepared to attack the Red Tide navy. The Astrid above started sending live images of the Red Tide fleet. The Federation Fleet went forward at full speed, stopping to fire every other minute. The sky was full of missiles and cannon shells, while the water was bubbling with torpedoes. The Astrid starting launching remote-guided explosives, which didn't nessecarily fit into either the shell or missile families, but more into the bomb family. The explosives were cased in re-entry cases which shed like the casings of sabot rounds. The Aircraft Carriers let their F-35s take off to join the F-35s coming from space. They quickly entered view of the Red Tide fleet, and began firing their dumbfire-rockets and torpedoes at the fleet. The pilots all knew that the fleet would quickly return fire, but they were prepared.

As for your attack... the 'spacebattleship' is ignored. Its far too advanced too be classified as either MT or early PMT(and given your size, far, far, far, far, far, far too expensive).

"Sir, the Over-The-Horizon RADAR is detecting some sort of exo-atmospheric craft re-entering the atmosphere... IFF indicates they are the same as F-35s." The RADAR officer said, "IFF indicates TGWO craft."

The Admiral frowned... then smiled. "Prepare too use the MDSM-5As against them."

"Yes sir..." The Weapons officer said, transmitting the proper orders.

As the F-35s entered the 300,000 feet above the Earth mark, twenty MDSM-5A Anti-Ballistic Missiles shot up too meet them. The MDSM-5A-which were designed too destroy a none-manuevering ICBM warhead-would have an easy time destroying these F-35s. The F-35 couldnt manuever while re-entering the atmosphere or it would burn up, they didnt have the same dimensions as a warhead did too manuever with. Plus they were creating a RADAR signature that one could track from Venus(metaphorically speaking).

Even if they had all of their 'stealth' capabilities, the Red Tidean powerful RADARs would still have detected them. The F-35s were not anywhere near as stealthy as the F-22... much less the F-117 and B2, all three could easily be tracked by Red Tidean RADARs.

Which is why the inbound carrier fighters were detected at a range of 700 kilometers. When he recieved the news of the inbound carrier F-35s, the Admiral told the weapons officer: "Shoot them down once they get sufficiently within range."

"And their ships?" The Weapons officer said.

"Wait until they are around the southern tip of Greenland. Then use the CM-4s."

OOC: Belkaros uses SU-90s as their main fighter aircraft. The plane is a fictional improved version of the SU-47, main improvements being an advanced radar jammer, missile decoy system and improved maneuverability with a large weapon payload. The fighter can also be launched from an aircraft carrier.

The Belkan naval forces had followed the lead of the SEG ships and sailed towards the Red Tide Fleet. This battle would be the first real engagement the Belkans had seen. SU-90s screamed towards the enemy fleet, flying just a few yards above the ocean’s surface, ensuring that they would not be detected on radar and making conventional AA weaponry difficult to use. The Leviathan had already commenced firing of its main cannon, hurling gigantic, high explosive packet bombs at the enemy. Submarines had been firing torpedoes filled with pure sodium at the Red Tide fleet along with their usual weapons. Battleship cannons fired, cruiser’s missiles were launched and all ships prepared for the return fire.

IC: As the TGWO Fleet rounded the southern tip of Greenland, the Red Tidean fleet struck. The TGWO fleet was still a fair distance away when VLS tubes onboard the M-Battleships opened up and 300 CM-4 Anti-Ship Missiles shot vertically into the sky. At 100,000 feet, the rocket booster would fall away and the SCRAMjet would activate.

The Missile would then cruise at mach 3.6 up at 100,000 feet, well beyond the range of most Surface-Air Missiles*. Using state-of-the-art intertial and NAVSTAR guidance, it would get close enough too its target before entering its terminal phase.

On its terminal phase, the missile would plunge, near vertically, out of the sky. Its 560 kilogram warhead, combined with its mach 4 speed at impact, was capable of decimating Superdreadnoughts in a single blow.

There were 300 of these missiles heading towards the TGWO fleet. The missiles, of course, were coordinated too overwhelm any attempts at defense.

OOC:*There are plenty of missiles on NS that might be able too intercept it, but very few RL missiles.

On the suits: fine, cool, I just got the impression you were only using gas masks. Tis but a misunderstanding.

On the Astrides: No, any company threatened by you would have simply left the nation without notifying you. And your nation is still too small too have a space station, especially one with such expensive outfittings, without bankrupting itself.

On my NS nation: My page is here: http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=Red%20Tide2

On the damages: Thats because you guys have thus far failed too engage me properly. You see, my military would not sit on their butts and wait for you too come into YOUR weapons range. No, my military would wait for you to come a little ways into MY weapons range(just too be sure) and then shove every missile/shell/bullet/whatever up your butt and then some.

Therefore, I have so far RP'd my response too you entering my weapons range. So far as I see, I see no damages too those forces I fired upon RP'd ICly(except you, TGWO, good job on RPing losing some F-35s too those ABMs).

So, here is a list of targets I have thus far engaged(that have not been answered):

1. A unspecified number of gas bomb armed MiGs owned by SEG with SAMs.
2. A unspecified number of inbound Belkaros aircraft armed with unknown weapons with SAMs.
3. The capital city of SEG, with chemical weapons*.
4. A unspecified number of TGWO carrier-based F-35s armed with dumb rockets and torepedos** with SAMs.
5. 38 TGWO ships with 300 Anti-Ship Missiles.

*This one is a bit up-in-the-air, as I get the impression that anyone who isnt evacuated is dead.
**This is just me, but I would have armed them with anti-ship missiles.

OOC: Before ground combat begins, let me explain some things about the Belkan forces I have sent to Southeastern Greenland. First, 25,000 of the infantrymen are not men, they are Belkan Centurions, humans with extensive genetic and cybernetic enhancements (this is NOT FT because both cybernetics and genetic enhancements are issues brought up in regular NS play). These soldiers wear respirator type devices at all times, both to inspire fear and to stimulate their metabolism, allowing them to heal at 15x the normal rate (they can re-grow lost limbs, but over a period of months, and will die if their brain or heart is destroyed, but regular bullets and knives are ineffective) . They are equipped with a scaled down, 3 barrel minigun, an RPG launcher (with 3 armor piercing grenades) a Belkan Type-4 Magnum handgun and full body armor, made of ceramic/carbon weave in a scale pattern, enhanced with EMP shielding. They have incredible eyesight and hearing, which can in some cases be problematic (be creative and they are not at all impossible to kill). If anyone feels that this is unreasonable in any way, reply to the post.
I don’t want to be accused of godmoding for this post, so I have made the enemies non Red Tide soldiers. They are simply militia created in Greenland hoping to help Red Tide’s invasion.

IC: The streets were quiet as Centurion 04-311 made his usual patrol rounds. He removed his helmet and gazed up at the full moon, relishing the cool night breeze and taste of non-steroidal air. The peace was shattered as a civilian housing building burst into flames.
12 or so young men in ran from the building, each carrying a machine gun. These were the Red Tide sympathizers 04-311 had been watching for. He reached for his magnum, and shot 3 of the men, killing each of them with a decisive chest shot. The other 9 ran for cover and began to fire. Leaving his respirator on the ground, 04-311 ran full force into a car behind which 2 men were hiding. In one swift motion, 04-311 tipped the car onto the men, crushing them. The others had established firing positions behind the nearby wall of a garden. 04-311 fired his minigun for cover fire as he ran up to the wall. He leaped over the 4 foot obstacle as if it were nothing and fired his weapon into the militiamen. One fired his weapon into 04-311’s stomach as he fell, the point blank shot shattering an armor scale and penetrating the soft flesh beneath. 04-311 screamed in agony, his already scarred and horrible face twisting into an even more hideous visage. He limped back to his respirator, bleeding profusely, and sighed in relief as the steroids once again filled his system. He could already feel the wound healing.

[b](they can re-grow lost limbs, but over a period of months, and will die if their brain or heart is destroyed, but regular bullets and knives are ineffective)

OOC: About the only problem I have with this post(otherwise, very good). It is physically impossible, even in late-PMT setting, to regrow lost limbs. And what exactly do you mean by 'regular bullets'?

OOC: I thought since the Leafanistani Civil War you used VX tipped bullets in an little capsule that explodes on impact, and if it doesn't kill by insertion into the body the oil like liquid that contacts skin is enough.

And regrowing entire limbs without the use of cloning technology that takes months is impossible even in Late-PMT.

OOC:... erm, no. My standard ammunition is 6.8mm armor piercing.

OOC:About the limbs, scientists are within a year or two of being able to graft reptile DNA which allows them to regrow limbs into mice. And I mean non armor piercing or inflamatory rounds when I say regular bullets. There were 20 SU-90s armed with SW torpedoes, high explosive armor piercing missiles, and air to air/surface missiles.

IC: The SU-90s split to avoid the incoming barrage of fire, but it was too late for five of them. The survivors took aim at the 3 nearest Red Tide ships and fired, then retreated quickly. The Leviathan fired a solid zinc slug at one of the Red Tide battleships and the battlecruisers focused their attacks on a nearby Red Tide ship. The torpedo barrage continued unabaited from the submarines, the sodium ones bursting in the water and churning the ocean water above, as well as exploding dangerously and releasing toxic clouds of concentrated hydrogen.

OOC: You're attacking from the North, I'm attacking from the South?

IC:
One of the F-35 pilots still firing missiles and torpedoes at the Red Tide ships noticed the Belkan forces. "Unknown aircraft sighted, requesting identification" he said into his facemask's radio. He then sent out an identification-request signal out, which is played into each of the radio channels. The ships still were firing at the Red Tide fleet, and the submarines moved even closer. They began firing their torpedoes at the center of what they believed was the flagship of the Red Tide fleet.

Then the lead ship picked up the signatures of the missiles, which were plain to see, simply because the chances of the Red Tide forces launching SR-71 Blackbirds at the Federation Fleet was none. As the ships quickly engaged their anti-missile systems, 4 of the ships at the front were hit and instantly destroyed. The anti missile system employed by the Federation was a multi-layered protection system. Firstly, as most anti missile systems do, it launched more explosives to destroy incoming missiles. Then, it fired flares far into the air, as to misguide any heatseeking missiles. Furthermore, it fires a volley of heavy metal pieces into the air in a dome, which detonates some munitions. And finally, it gives a believed launcher using the sound produced by the missile, so that if the ship survives, the ship can fire back easily.

OOC: You know what? I am going too retcon my involvement in this thread. Perhaps we have both made mistakes, I dont know. But I believe the biggest difference is the 'age difference'. I have been playing this game for awhile, so I know the ropes. You guys are pretty new... so you make big blunders that sort-of ruin it though no fault of your own.

So, I am unsubscribing too this thread... and might even temporarily be leaving NS for a break. Good night.

OOC: Yes, a north and south joint attack would be the most obvious choice.
