The OOC: This is, basically, an expansionist thread. The Pictish Imperium is advancing into Gibraltar and Andulusia, occupying any and all islands in between Pictavia and their target. You may RP a nation effected by this blatant aggression, for example an Iberian or Moroccan state, or your own nation may be directly affected through regional interests. This thread is open until declared otherwise.

Holy Terra: The Cradle of Civilization
*****
2007 A.D: Terranism Rears its fanatical head once more.
Two years have passed since the destruction of the Utopian Wars, but the Picts have not forgotten the aggression rained down upon their homes by foreign powers. The wars saw the burning of Rothesay to the ground, the loss of countless Pictish pilots and seamen. Pictavia witnessed the first foreign foothold of her sovereign territory since 1623; Yet the Imperium's victory was absolute.
Discrimination for centuries against a religion which seeks only to sustain the cradle of all civilization; Holy Terra. Persecution against all those who sought an alternate path to the after-life. An entire people shunned because of their 'pagan', 'wiccan', 'barbaric' way of life...
Throughout the centuries, the Picts have been oppressed, conquered, and en-sieged by aggressors from all corners of the world. The bitter seeds of hatred burn deep in the belly of every soldier, of every man, woman and child in the Imperium. For generations abhorrence of those who seek only to divide us has only grown, and now the world may reap the consequences. The Pictish Fleet tears through the North Atlantic Ocean, descending upon waters in all vectors from the Isles of New Pictavia, (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/Retro_1989/Pictavia.jpg) west of the mouth of the Mediterranean Sea. The Straights of Gibraltar under blockade and Andalusia is on the brink of invasion, as the Terranists seek to solidify their prowess.
The Pictish Imperium is ready for war.

Regards Gaius Kadesh Consul of The Pictish Imperium High Commander of the Pictish Armed Forces Warlord of the Utopian Crusades,
Greetings and salutations,
We are GLaDOS v2.0 of Aperture Science. Having recieved your message regarding threats of immolation of specific geographic regions, we are most pleased to offer you some of our finest military technology, including the very latest in robotic military units.
No doubt a nation such as yours has quite discerning tastes, so we would be pleased to skip over all the standard junk and get right to the high-quality stuff, including fully robotic or remote main battle tanks, superior fighter aircraft and high-end small arms for your biological infantry.
Unfourtunatly our only issue at present is the limited size of our manufacturing facilities, so the goods we offer may only be provided in fairly small numbers.
We also supply more exotic weapons and devices should you require them, for example, the Adhesive Area Denial System (AADS), a super-strong adhesive foam which may be placed over roads, in fields, and so forth. We find that it is quite impssible for a standard biological unit to remove the foam without mechanical or chemical assistance. And it ruins any paintjob it comes in contact with.
As an introductory offer, please accept fifty barrels of AADS, enough to lay out roughly two hundred and fifty miles of foam in a configuration wide enough to entangle an infantryman.
For added effect against tire driven vehicles, we suggest introducing nails into the AADS foam prior to use.
Also, please enjoy the complimetary cake included with your introductory gift. Unless you suffer from allergic reactions to chocolate, in which case please return the cake to Aperture Science for a non-chocolate cake.

Saharistani Colonial Authority
This is a formal request from the Saharistani Colonial Authority, with implicit permission from the Glorious Republic of Leafanistan and its Triumvirate Council, we ask that all Leafanistani shipping passes through the Straits of Gibraltar unharassed. Failure to do so risks war with the Glorious Republic and her allies whom this shipping relies on.
However, we'd like to make another request, that the Corporatist State of Gens Romae's shipping is not allowed through, we'll pay highly for such a deed.

Target España Zero-Zero-One, Gibraltar Et South Andalusia
The First Pictish Fleet Battlegroup moved into positions across the Andalusian coast, preparing for the Invasion. In a show of force, wings of F-35 Lightning II's were already tearing through the Spanish skyline, sending the locals running for cover. Pictish Royal Marine Commandos were boarding their MH-47G Chinooks as MH-60S Knighthawks spread out across the fleet, constantly aware of any obstacles. Moments later, hundreds of F-22 Raptors and Avenger II's joined the F-35 Lightning II's across the coastline of Cádiz and Málaga, as great plumes of smoke began to gather on the horizon. The Fleet reared their tremendous firepower, ready to lay waste to Spanish positions at any moment...

This particular Spanish area had heavy Vantanian populations, as those unable to pay for the migration to Graecia had fled to other areas of the Mediterranean, mainly Spain. Slowly, the Vantanians and their immigrants dominated the southern regions, until they led a daring rebellion, supported by Great Vantania, for independence. Upon victory, the Democratic Empire made them a satellite state, forcing the Buy & Sell Corporation to their land, and making them guardians of the route to Greece.
Outside of Gibraltar
"And so Neptune, in your name we sacrifice these scum, Terranists, criminals, Christians, Muslims, and traitors, to you, along with various animals such as lambs, rams, and ducks, to you. May you grant us continued dominance over the seas and victory in our endeavor."
With that, the prisoners and animals in the large circle started to burn, the fire starting outer boundires and going inward, dying out as the last corpse was charred. The smoke made its way upwards, reaching Mount Olympus, where Neptune breathed deeply the sweet fragrence. The key god in this was on the Spaniard's side.
Spanish Coasts
"Fire the SAMs, get the fighters up there, prepare barrage balloons, and tell the coast guard to open fire!" roared General Generality into the radio, watching the Picts near closer and closer.
And so it was, missles and planes coming up in small amounts, along with coastal ship shells, firing at the Pictish planes. Meanwhile, barrage balloons were inflated over strategically important areas, an attempt to save them from the Pictish wrath. Still, the Spaniards were not rich, and there were no bomb shelters, only basements with idols the Spanish prayed to for protection.

Andalusian Coast, España
"Blue-Seven, bank, enemy AA Five o'clock"
"Rodger that, Blue-One, disengaging current course"
"All units, Fire in the Sky! Brake!"
"Negative, Blue-One, Altitude is insufficient, I Say again, Al-"
"Blue-Six? Blue-Six! Goddammit!"
The Andalusian Coast
The F-35 Lightning II's were the first to make enemy contact, hitting several Spanish SAM sites across the coast; Eleven aircraft were downed on contact. The 81 Remaining F-35's on the Advanced Recon Mission swung fully about, and had the enemy artillery emplacements within range in minutes. Upon hitting the Spanish resistance, the 190 F-22's broke off from the main assault to engage the enemy fighters scrambled against them, while the Avenger II's unleashed their payload on the enemy coastal positions.
The First Fleet Battlegroup
The Carriers, Destroyers and Cruisers fired their 2 GK-41 Tactical Length Vertical Launch Missile Launchers, targeting the inland SAM sites with devastating effects. The Electro-Thermal Naval guns of the fleet soon followed suit, hammering into the anti-ship coastal defences, although relying on sheer volume of munitions to overload the area with ordinance.
While the Mk-44 "Sea Saber" and Gk-22 "Aqua Arrow" Combination Anti-Missile Defense Systems of the Carriers, Swiftsure Destroyers and Carthage Cruisers cleared the skies of enemy anti-shipping missiles, The smaller missile suits of the fleet concentrated their fire on all enemy barrage balloons, hoping to bring the fighters back into combat as soon as possible.
The fleet was shrouded by the white trails of the missiles, fizzling off into the horizon with an uncanny beauty. Minutes later the main guns of the ships finally opened-fire in a frenzy of metal, flame and smoke, pounding the shore in explosions which could be heard for miles around.
The marines stood in their landing-craft, anxiously awaiting what was yet to come. The beachhead was but minutes away, and for many of the young soldiers, that beach is where they will fall behind.

The Imperial House, City of Èideann
Gaius was sitting at the head of a rather ornate desk, light from the large domed roof spilling out into his office. He was gazing out over the waters of the Loch, calmly recollecting the events which lead to the first Utopian Wars at the hands of Galan McKay. In order to prevent such an attack reaching Pictish shores so quickly in the future, a defencive colonial sphere was Gaius' masterpiece. The Canaries, Andalusia and Gibraltar first, then Murcia, Valencia, Northern Morocco, The Balearic Islands; and that was just the first stage. A foothold in the Mediterranean. The second stage was Africa; the Mauritanian Coast, Senegal, Guinea, The Ivory Coast... A True Empire. The Imperium would be able to do battle with invaders from her own territory, without scarring the Holy Lands.
A relatively young man, no more than thirty knocked twice on the great oak doors, then entered after Gaius' word. He was smartly dressed in a pristine suit and tie of Pictish blue, with a firm jawline and commanding stature. Gaius always favored soldiers to politicians, it was only those who had laid down their life for the Imperium who he deemed worthy to aid lead the country.
"Sir, the armada is in position. An MH-47G is ready for you outside.
Gaius sat back in his chair and looked out over the Loch once more,
"Order the Attack, and bring me my armor"
The young man nodded and met Gaius in the eye for a moment,
"Plus Ultra, Sir"

BattleFleet One:
Eight Kilometers off the Andalusian Coast
The sun was beginning to fall, as it did so gracefully in this part of the world. The clouds were already bathed in a warm orange light, embracing the entire skyline, until they were torn open by the hundreds of MV-22B Ospreys. Many more were still leaving the Emden Class Amphibious Assault Ships, who began to advance ahead of the main fleet towards the Iberian coast. Thousands of meters below the Ospreys were wing after wing of F-22 Raptors, engaging and burning any potential threat to the sky fleet. Moments later, the bellies of the Emden Class opened up to release wave after wave of Seasprite Class Air Cushioned Landing Craft into the deep blue waters. In each plane, hovercraft and ship, the soldiers stood silent, gazing out into the hellish glow of Gibraltar and beyond, admiring the bright yellow trails of missiles rise into the sky, and the brilliant flashes of explosions on the mainland. Unknown to the enemy, Gaius could see everything. The ribbons of smoke rising from their position, the stoic faces of his own soldiers, the lash of the waves against his landing craft...
Gaius carefully drew a great silver Claymore from within his armor, and admired it for but a moment in front of himself, until he thrust it aggressively into the cold, salty air above their heads. His bear-like frame swelled with air as his lungs expanded, until he released a battle-cry at the top of his voice;
"NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT!"
His shout echoed throughout the bay, drowning out the sound of artillery from the fleet. Enemy shore guns soon opened fire, sending shells whistling past the Marines' ears, and throwing white water into the air around them, the soldiers repeated Gaius cry, every single one of the hundreds of them. Then, amidst the fire flying all around them, Gaius stood tall at the front of the Seasprite and pointed his sword at the shoreline, and bellowed once more;
"PLUS ULTRA!"
He continued to scream the last syllable as group after group of F-35's and nEUROn's tore through the sky overhead from the Assault ships, frighteningly low. The coast was burning...

The Andalusian Coastline: The target of phase one.
"Operation: Golden Lifeline" Underway
The invasion of the southern Iberian coastline, known as "Operation: Golden Lifeline" is underway, with beachheads currently being established along the Andalusian coast. Phase One of the operation involved the capture of the provinces of Cádiz and Málaga to provide security to the large Naval port of Gibraltar. Approximately Seven-thousand Pathfinders are being dropped to the North of the provinces charged with the destabilization of the Hispanic southern Anti-Aircraft screen, which is currently preventing the bombing of targets north of the provincial border. On the beaches, a further Eleven-thousand Marine Commandos are securing key defencive positions and major ports for the landing of the Terran Force, currently estimated at a strength of 200,000 personnel.
Reconnaissance missions have already begun in the African North-west coast, while the second-fleet is approaching Valencia in accordance with phase two of the operation. The war in the east is estimated to be significantly less brutal and more welcomed, due to the prior presence of pro-Catalonian forces in opposition to the government of Madrid.
Intelligence estimates the Spanish armed forces at a disclosed approximation of half a million personnel, significantly outnumbering the current invasion-force. However as the invasion of Valencia unfolds the balance will be tipped in favor of the Imperium. Domestically 20% of the Pictish Armed Forces are preparing for overseas service, totaling in four-million personnel.
Recent polls indicate that only 30% of the Southern Iberian population would welcome incorporation into the Imperium, while a staggering 55% would aggressively oppose it. In the north of the country, 88% of Basque, Galician and Asturian persons would support the invasion of the dominant south, to the point where there have been numerous reports of insurgencies gaining a foothold in the cities of Vitoria-Gasteiz and Oviedo. The Pictish Imperium has previously released a statement claiming that any military aid of the oppressed peoples of the north would result in their exclusion from the conquest and subsequent incorporation into a greater Pictish protectorate. The Idea of a semi-independent federation on northern states has appealed to many, long tired of domination from Madrid.

From General Charels De Remi, Commander of all USSY Armed Forces:
In order to support our allies, and reunite our people with the lands of our forefathers, we would like to support your invasion by conquering the areas of France, and Northern Algieria.
France may feel threatened by the Imperium being on their doorstep, and because of the sizable population of ethnic French people in Yanitaria, we would like to invade and take the lands for ourselves.
Furthermore, your future invasion of Morroco will be hindered by Algeria, who (OOC: In Real Life) will not stand for a hostile neighbor. There is also a minority of ethnic Turks, Berbers, and Algerians in our country, so implementing a Pro-Yanitarian government would be easier. Southern Algieria can eventually become a semi-autonomous protectorate of the USSY.
If allowable, we would also like to invade the Southern and Western Balkans, including Greece, Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro

TOP SECRET
Indeed. We will conduct special operations in France immediately, where we hope to find support among the Moroccans and Algerians, who are, for the most part, lower class. Once the nation is destabilized, we will come in through the south and north, meeting in the middle.
Once France has been pacified, it should be about time to invade North Africa. Their support for us will be counter balanced by the fact that they have only had their independence since the 60's. Also, their military is the best in North Africa. However, our air and ground superiority will leave their army devastated, and our social welfare, equality, and the state of our education and technology will gain sympathy for us. Once the region is stable, we will allow them a seat in Parliament, and leave Southern Algeria to it's semi-autonomy, so hopefully there will be muted resistance.
Finally, using conscripts from France and Algeria, we will push into Greece to Albania, then to Montenegro, and finally turn around to take Macedonia. Our policy here will be to modernize everything, so that the people enjoy our occupation, until they fully accept being citizens of our nation.
Sincerely,
Gen. Charles De Remi

Calcaria, the Commonwealth
Andrew Stark sighed in relief as he sank into the warm caldarium in the vast, elegantly designed public bathhouse at Calcaria. The thermæ, as they were called, were holdovers from the Roman era in Londinian history; to this day, men and women alike could not only bathe, but eat, exercise, read, drink, shop, mingle and meet at the baths. Though the consul was rather busy individual, he generally found the time for at least one visit to the thermæ - at any rate, they gave him a degree of visibility with his constituents.
The caldarium provided a sublime escape from the below-zero temperatures of Deva Victrix, and many spent a large amount of time at the baths whenever possible; Consul Stark was no exception, and had decided to meet his new War Minister, Fulvia Sinclair, to discuss the situation in Andalusia.
"You see, Miss Sinclair, I am concerned about the Pictish taking control of Spain because it offers them the opportunity to restrict our access to Lebanon and Palestine," said Andrew, faintly smiling at the woman swooning across from him. "Not only that, though, but it also brings those fundamentalists closer to our Benelux colonies."
"Yes, yes, sir, I concur wholeheartedly," Fulvia replied quickly. "We could have, ah, forty legions march from Brussels and reach Andalusia within a few days, if you so desire, sir."
"Excellent, excellent," replied Andrew. "In the meantime, I think it is crucial that we finance the resistance and provide them with whatever arms possible."
"Of course, Mr. Stark -"
"Please, Fulvia, call me Andrew. We've known each other long enough that you may use my first name, if you so desire," the consul said in what was the Londinian equivalent of professing one's attraction to another.
"It would be my pleasure, Cons...Andrew," Fulvia said with an unsteady voice, her heart fluttering. "I'll draft the orders immediately and wire them to Benelux."
"Surely, though, you can spare a few more minutes? The baths are quite lovely, after all..."

Andalusia, Spain
The tranquility and natural beauty that marked Andalusia was rudely interrupted by the roar of coastal missile batteries launching at Pictish naval vessels. Explosions rocked the littoral, dirt, debris, bodies flying into the sky and landing with a bloody splat on the soft, sandy beaches.
"Hasta la victoria siempre!" shouted the Spanish soldiers, who wildly fired their submachine guns at the advancing forces, ducking at every resonating boom of the artillery. They shouted the phrase with an angry passion at every turn, with the death of every enemy, knowing full well that they were merely postponing their deaths. They knew not of the 120,000 combat soldiers marching towards their position at that very moment.

Côte d'Azur:
"Allons-y, mes frères."
Flight 42 from Yanitaria to Portugal was a mess. The private passenger jet once contained a low level Yanitarian diplomat, sent to discuss the recent war in Spain. Now all that was left were 5 dead bodies, all gassed to death with carbon dioxide, which had replaced all the oxygen in the compartment. Unlike carbon monoxide, there would soon be no trace of there ever being a murder.
The three soldiers, of the Yanitarian Marine Corps Les Enfant Perdus, the ultra secret group of Special Operatives, opened the emergency exit, and jumped out high above the French Riviera. There was no moon out, but it was clear, and the sparkling lights of Nice could be seen some 10 miles away.
The three men preformed their HALO jump. Since the cabin was flooded with CO2, they had already been breathing from their oxygen masks for a while.
They all looked up as the shaped charge on the airplane detonated, and the bird's cockpit disappeared. It began doing a lazy spiral all the way down.... towards Nice.
The three LEP soldiers dropped down to the forest, and immediately discarded their equipment down a pre-dug hole. The partisans where nowhere in sight, but the three parachutists knew that they were being watched.
"Three knocks and a twitch." the leader spoke rather loudly. Several LEP soldiers and partisans that ranged in skin tone from one ultra light skinned Algerian, to a dark toned Sicilian.
In silence, the men buried the air tanks and parachute under 2 meters of dirt and rock, and then replaced the leaves over it.
They left the area quietly, and headed towards their base.
Yanitaria City, Yanitaria:
President Norheim was red faced as he spoke into the camera.
"France is the land of many Yanitarian's grandfather! To have a plane shot down as it enters French airspace, while on a mission of peace, no less, is unacceptable! Unless the culprits are determined soon, The United Socialist States of Yanitaria will be forced to act!"
Of course, he knew very well that the LEP soldiers had destroyed the plane. He had ordered them to do so, and fortunately the shaped charges would make it seem as though a rocket had pierced the cockpit and exploded.
The black box would be no problem either, because there was none. Let the French look all they want for one, they will never find it.
Checkpoint, French-Italian Boarder:
The LEP officer smiled at the Gendarme. "Lo scusate, signore, potete affrettare in su? I would like to be able to see Nice before my grandchildren grow old."
The officer scowled, and waved them into the customs area.
Four LEP soldiers, each dressed in expensive suits drove up the a table, and got out. They went into the customs building, and preformed the necessary rigors of any Italian tourists to France. Nothing too horrible, a simple check of the passport, a quick trip through the detectors and a frisk.
Outside the customs officer checked the SUV, searching the luggage, and checking any obvious compartments. Soon the men were allowed to leave.
20 miles away, in the mountainous forest, they got out and made a small camp for lunch. They joked as they cooked their meal of left over roast in a camp pan. After their quick lunch, they slit open the lining of their suitcases and took out the foraged National Identity Cards, which said that they were French citizens of Paris, probably out visiting relatives near Gap, or Digne. They burned their fake passports in the fire, and spread the ashes in a small stream.
They then headed towards the LEP base.
Ile de la Cite:
Directeur Général de la Police Nationale Christophe Rousseau sat at home, drinking a cup of coffee, and watching the news. Terrorist attacks all over France, riots in poor neighbor hoods, and just recently a long string of armoured car robberies by a Corsican gang who were extremely well equipped.
Could things get any worse? And now this upstart 'Citizen Norheim' from the USSY threatening France with economic sanctions unless they could find out who had iced their diplomat over Nice.
Today a peace march was to be led, with hundreds of students led by, of all the nationalities, a Yanitarian honors student.
He shook his head. At this point he was so jumpy, he could not take it. He had ordered policemen in riot gear to watch the little feltchers, so that they wouldn't have another riot.
"Ah well, perhaps today will be peaceful," he said to himself. A silencer was placed to his head, and the Director General only had time to gasp.
12 Hours Later:
Michel hated his job. But he loved the students. A couple nice looking ones had shared a blunt with him earlier in the evening, and currently the tall, rather ugly Gardien de la paix stagiaire leaned on the wall of the alley as the students approached.
His sergeant called him over the radio, telling him to come back to the formation, where he was currently suppose to be blocking off a road from the protesters, but Michel was to out of it to comply. He scratched his nose, and thought about going to look for some junk food as the protesters came into view.
Suddenly someone grabbed his arm and mouth, and another his submachine gun. The alley was dark, so the students couldn't see him very well, and definitely could not see the two LEP soldiers.
The one with the submachine gun raised it, aiming for the leader of the protest, and fired three shots. He then emptied the magazine into the crowd of shocked students, who scrambled away, leaving 10 of their comrades bleeding on the street.
The LEP soldiers dropped the police officer, to the ground, and threw the opium laced marijuana stump on the ground next to him, still burning. When Michel turned around, the alley was empty.
Nouvelle Algiers, Yanitaria:
Citizen Mattias Norheim, President of the USSY personally attended the funeral of the young student who's name he failed to remember. His wife, who was genuinely moved by the loss of the young man, who's great grandfather was French by birth. The mother of the young, intelligent student stood to the right of the President, and the First Lady wrapped her arms around her, and they both cried for the young man.
Cameras watched the sight. Frederick Norheim, the president's son flown in from Tristan Providence, where he attended University, was ceremoniously one of the pall bearers at the funeral.
Later, in an address to his nation, Citizen Norheim, with his son consoling the grieving widow and his own mother, who has calmed a bit, looked into the cameras.
"My citizens, the loss of one of our students is a terrible price to pay. Yanitaria has suffered more than any other foreign nation in France so far, with our casualties at 10, two of whom were women, and one... one was this fine young man, the latest body to be sent back home to Yanitaria.
"How many more bodies must be sent? How many more families should cry for their loss? How many more funerals will we have to have? Well I say no more! If France cannot control what happens in her boarders, then someone will have to. I have never liked war. I have never wanted to enter one.
"However, I cannot speak for my fellow citizens, but I personally do not want to attend any more funerals for innocent boys."
The people attending the funeral, including the mother of the boy, applauded at the speech. All over Yanitaria, boys tried to enlist, rather than wait for their conscription notice.
Côte d'Azur:
The hundred or so LEP troopers applauded as they watched their President declare his intention for war. Someone popped a bottle of champaign.
That night, the large, privately owned chateau in the Alps of the French Riviera was alive with music, as the LEP soldiers and their partisans celebrated.
OOC: How was that? I hope it wasn't too long, or boring. I know I have a tendency to skip over writing details that are obvious to me, so if it's a bt confusing, tell me.

Gibraltar
The silver-trails of the anti-shipping missiles intermittently interrupted the orange glow of the smoke-blackened sky. The Spaniards were fighting ferociously, fending off wave after wave of Pictish marines while the 'Emden Class' Amphibious assault ships advanced forward, crashing into the brittle concrete of Gibraltars main port with the main hull doors thundering down onto the ground. Seconds later, before the dust had cleared, several groups of PACHIS Class IFV's and Arbiter M-3 MBT's began advancing through the harbor, exchanging violent fire with Spanish defenders dotted all across the complex. One of the Emdens took several light hits from Iberian anti-shipping missiles, its great hull groaning under the strain. On the main beachhead, wave after wave of F-35 Lightning II's and Avenger II Joint Tactical Bombers burned the Iberian fortifications to the ground, while F-22 Raptors continued to do battle with the few Spanish aircraft scrambled. Gradually, the eleven-thousand Pictish marines advancing along the beachheads began making progress through sheer weight of men and armor, although the main Spanish army was yet to be seen. Only a fool would try to reinforce the dwindling Gibraltan positions with the hail of artillery and missiles falling on the city.
Andalusia
The MV-22B Osprey's dropped the majority of the seven-thousand Pathfinder Elite near their objectives, and met little resistance during the drop besides the expected anti-aircraft fire of the SAM screen. They immediately began to remove their jump-gear and advance on the SAM positions to the north, hitting them with a bombardment of FGM-148 Javelin fire before the main charge. A sea of craters left by the Fleet's missile bombardments left plenty cover for the assault, with Picts dashing from hole to hole, riddling the soft concrete with bullets whenever the opportunity was available.
Valencia
The first waves of aircraft began bombing Valencia as night drew near, with the second Fleet Battlegroup approaching menacingly. By six PM the Fleet was in position and opened fire on the coastline, opening up a second front in the Iberian Invasion. Victory was absolute, or so they thought...

Off the French Coast:
The Entire USSY Navy was present, blockading France as effectively as they could. Kilo class submarines patrolled the waters, tracking French subs, and relaying surface fleet positions.
In a live video feed from the YMS (Yanitarian Military Vessel) Point Harbour, flagship of the Yanitarian Fleet, Fleet Admiral Lief Nansen, he said
Today begins operation Skjold. Carrier Task Force 1 has positioned itself on the southern shore of France, where our only landings will be. CTF 2 had positioned itself on the coast of Aquitaine and Poitue Charentes. They will be denying any terrorist forces entry to France, and any ship what so ever from leaving. On the north coast, along Normandie, Picardie, and Nord Pas de Calais, CTF 3 waits.
Our marines will land on the southern coast of France, in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, and Languedoc-Roussillon. We have notified the French government, and in response, their crime rate has jumped even higher. Even worse, given our solemn vow to not attack anywhere else, they have foolishly moved their army to meet us there. The area is under heavy guard, so Yanitaria might consider moving CTF 1 north to land in a less defended area. Again, we have told the French army this, as our only intention is peace keeping.
The next morning, CTF 1 moved towards the French coast, preparing to land 20,000 marines at first, followed by another 80,000 who were being held in reserve. The French resistance mounted to 200,000 men, of which 20,000 were policemen. The French police always served as the Military Police whenever their troops are deployed.
All around France, the 10 boat French submarine fleet were fired upon, taking out their submersible capability.
Near the port of Toulon, where the French Navy intended to push back the invading Yanitarian fleet, two Seawolf class submarines had been resting near the bottom of the sea. R91 Charles De Gaulle was put on alert as they learned that their sub fleet was under attack. The two Yanitarian subs relayed the message, and fired all 8 torpedo tubes, for a total of 16 torpedoes.
A loud ping rang out through the hulls of the subs just before they launched, but even so, the firing of the torps were noisy enough to mean an hasty getaway.
15 of the 16 torpedoes tore through the Charles De Gaulle, slowly sinking France's only carrier. As the two Yanitarian boats gunned their screws, a French missile frigate launched a Malafon ASROCK, crippling on submarine. A destroyer launched 20 Hedgehog depth charges, completely destroying it.
The second Seawolf class escaped, but not before a French depth charge dented the hull. Overall, the mission was a success.
Off the Western and Northern coasts of France, CTF's 2&3 moved closer to shore as well. They landed a similar force to those expected in southern France relatively unscathed, with only a brief naval battle and short beach skirmish with police and a few companies of riflemen. The French however, had semi-expected such a tactic, and artillery rained down on the marines. However, soon Panavia Tornadoes and Su-34's, escorted by F-35's, Su-47's, and EA-18G's.
The EA-18G Growlers jammed most of the anti-air missiles, while the F-35's shot down the rest with their cannons. The Su-47's formed a perimeter and took on incoming enemy aircraft.
In the south, CTF-1 engaged the bulk of the French Navy at Toulon. The Yanitarian fleet closed with in 10 miles of the French fleet, where their numerical disadvantage on the surface was evened out by the submarines that took out the heaviest ships first, before disappearing into the din of battle.
French ships soon decided to use active sonar, which forced the Yanitarian Submarines to fire a load of torpedoes and run. Although several smaller French ships managed to get depth charges out towards them, the larger ships were busy engaging the YMS Point Harbour, and the 80 aircraft currently buzzing all around them.
In several places, where the French army watched the naval battle, artillery, SAM and rocket sites exploded, detonated by LEP led saboteurs. Furthermore, the aircraft carrier Richelieu, which was under going the final stage of building, long after it was projected to be launched, was taken by an almost fully partisan force led by 5 LEP troopers. 500 men stormed it from open sewer manholes and took it before any of the planes from the downed Charles De Gaulle could land. The SAM system was brought online, loaded with missiles stolen from the port, and used on the planes as they came in for a landing.
Several groups of partisans fired Stinger missiles to compliment the ship-bourne defences, and several HMG's fired fruitlessly at any planes that ventured near.
The not-quite-done carrier left port sailing a bit to close to a small corvette, which it capsized. With engines going full, and the engine room staff operating at gunpoint, the ship sailed away until it reached the Yanitarian fleet and was handed over.
Rockets roared on both sides, and the guns of the Super Dreadnought and Battlecruiser screamed as they hit, again and again, their marks.
In a short 4 hour battle, the USSY had lost 3,000 men, but the French fleet was entirely destroyed or captured.
Aside from the Richelieu, two french corvettes (of the D'Estienne d'Orves class), one of which was capsized but still salvageable, one La Fayette class frigate, a Tourville class frigate, and a Mistral class that had been used as a hospital vessel.
From Toulon, the Yanitarian marines landed, with naval and air support. Tu-160's and B-52's bombarded the city and surrounding area behind enemy lines, while Marines pushed back the French army street by street, and in some cases, house by house.
The dock area itself was heavily damaged, but still serviceable. Leclerc and Leopard II tanks landed there, and immediately set forward in support of the marines.
The marines themselves were usually equipped with RG-31 troop carriers, although mechanized units rode in CV 90's and BMP-3's. The Odd Ratel IFV also saw service for the first time in USSY history, proving to be effective in urban combat. Their 90mm guns ripped apart light AFV's and denied the enemy cover in buildings.
However, they plinked off of the armour of French Leclerc MBT's, so Ratel ZT-3's, the anti-tank variant, would have to be deployed, or they would have to retreat. However, compared to the RG-31, they faired much better.
Soon, artillery was offloaded, and PzH2000's, G6-52 howitzers, and M 270 rocket launchers rained death on the French forces as they pushed back.
To the east and west, paratroopers landed, equipped lightly with Kubelwagons that had recoilless rifles mounted on them, IMC-01 'Bladerunners' with 2 MG4's mounted on them, and the MS-12 'Vespa' combat scooter.
All three were seeing combat in Yanitaria for the first time, but the latter two were heavily endorsed by the Leafanistani government. To many a commander's surprise, the MS-12, when it used the deployed camo netting, was a great anti-tank weapon, crippling French armour and supply trucks.
All in all, a total of 7 regions in France came under attack, confusing and crippling their forces. But it was assured that the French were not going to just bow down.
OOC: I like writing this, but does anyone want to RP the french? Seems kinda hopeless, especially since France would surrender once Paris came under direct attack in real life. Anything to save their precious tower!
EDIT: Can this RP take place in the winter? or has there already been some mention of the season?

Official Londinian Communiqué
To Gaius Kadesh, Consul of the Pictish Imperium:
The Crown and Parliament of the Londinian Commonwealth are concerned with the Pictish seizure of the Iberian Peninsula. Her Majesty's Government holds this opinion not out of concern for the Spanish population, but because of the unique control Iberia grants you over access to the Atlantic from the Mediterranean. British Londinium would like a permanent, concrete assurance of our continued, unrestricted access to our colonies in the Levant and the Mediterranean, perhaps the transfer of Gibraltar to Londinian control, in order to avert armed conflict.

Port Royal, British Londinium
The white flashing bulbs of the media fired in rapid succession as the aircraft carrier HMS Messalina docked amongst the brand-new Royal Navy shipyards. The consul stood in the centre of the new shipbuilding facilities, smiling as the cameras rolled. "...These new shipyards represent the return of prosperity to our country," Stark declared at the end of his speech. "With the extensive facilities located here in Port Royal, the Commonwealth will once more be able to exercise her rightful power in the world." Andrew withdrew from the podium, allowing some dreary Navy official to drone on about the specifics and ships about to be built.
War Minister Sinclair was on hand for the event, which made the consul quite happy - Andrew could not get enough of the woman. It was her voice that appealed most to him - soft, silky, and surprisingly exotic. Andrew sighed as he ruminated on this, because business came before pleasure, and there was work to be done.
"Fulvia, as you are aware, the Pictish continue to flex their muscles in Andalusia, going so far as to threaten the Commonwealth with invasion. This is unacceptable," Andrew explained, an undercurrent of pent-up rage flavoring his voice. "The War Ministry is to draw up plans for a full-scale counterassault in Spain, followed by plans for the invasion of the Pictish homeland itself. I want no option left out of the planning - I do not intend to have mercy on these fundamentalist scum."
"I shall proceed immediately," the War Minister replied with a sinister smile. "And I know exactly how to hit them hardest."

Gibraltar, Spain
Once the fifty Londinian B-1R bombers flew overhead, the Spanish commanders knew precisely what to do; Nyquist had radioed in their instructions beforehand, and the Spanish were prepared for it.
"Gas masks!" bellowed the sergeants on the battlefield. "Take cover now, now!" The coastal fortresses sealed themselves off, and the soldiers clashing with the Picts scurried away into any refuge they could find.
With dazzling coordination, the bombers unleashed hundreds, thousands of missiles, all streaking towards the ground forces advancing up the beachhead. They were loaded with the pride and joy of the Londinian chemical weapons programme - Iyer. It was the most insidiously lethal chemical weapon ever designed - absorbable through absolutely any vector, the chemical rapidly spread through an organism and permanently shut down its production of ATP, adenosine triphosphate, the compound that allows cells to perform work. Trillions of ATP molecules were produced every second by a human body, and Iyer swiftly put an end to all of it. Within a matter of seconds, the body would die from what amount to starvation-induced lethargy.
Clouds of Iyer wafted over the Picts at Gibraltar.

Andalusia
The Pathfinders had fared extremely better than the marines, with their atmospherically contained battle-suits protecting them from any gas carried in the wind, which was sparse at that. The assault on the Spanish Anti-Air positions continued, with Pathfinders outnumbering the lightly armed SAM crews. Positions which had already been captured were soon directed at the Londinian bombers, unleashing the enemy’s own firepower against them.
Gibraltar
The clouds of Iyer slowly drifted over the fortifications of the Spaniards, eventually making their way to the beachheads, where the majority of the soldiers looked on in sheer terror. Lieutenants were running down the lines, barking commands at their troops, shaking the young marines back into life again. The Royal Marine Commandos may have been some of the most professional soldiers in the IAF, but that did not comfort them any when the troops saw those whose armour was breached writhing helplessly on the sand before lying there lifelessly.
“GAS! GAS! Everyone check your buddy's armour, get anyone who’s hit into a Pachis! MOVE!”
The beachhead was a frenzy of activity, with wounded and breached soldiers being dragged into armoured vehicles and shaken marines padding down their kin for openings in their camouflage. As the cloud drifted terrifyingly swiftly forward, more and more soldiers dropped down into spasm, their uniform breached by the most insignificant piece of shrapnel or barbed wire during the assault. As the gas began to dissipate, the full extent of the damage was made apparent. The majority of the lives of the soldiers had been saved either by their mechanized armour or by their battle-suits, however hundreds had still fallen. They did not take long to notice, however, that the Spanish had abandoned their positions and taken cover also, and within seconds Arbiter M-3 MBT’s began roaring up the beaches, opening great holes in the concrete shelters, and executing all in their path. The surviving marines were quick to follow, utilizing the opportunity as a break from suppressing fire, and flooding into the Iberian defences.
The First Battlefleet returned fire with extreme prejudice against the unescorted (weren't sure if they were or not?) Londinian bombers, with the majority of fire coming from the five Carthage Air-Defence Cruisers in the bay. The F-22 Raptors serving in the arena were bartered by Anti-Air fire and plagued by low-fuel, and unleashed their remaining ammunition against the foreign targets before beginning the retreat from the battlefield, to be replace by Eurofighter Typhoons in a matter of minutes.
Gaius was crouched inside a Pachis IFV, in full chemical weapon counter-gear, with the sounds of screams and explosions filling the stale air. In a matter of moments, a MH-47G dropped from the sky into the scene, where the consul was rushed inside. The bird then took flight once more, heading for the fleet. Gaius tore-open the suit and sheathed his bloodstained sword with an expression of sheer disgust across his face. A young commander worked his way through the helicopter, eventually halting at the rigid figure of the Consul.
"Six-hundred dead, sir"
Gaius paused for a moment and thought about what he was planning on saying very carefully;
“Give the order, Commander, Have the Imperial Armed Forces fully mobilized, and all extra atmospheric assets monitoring everything that moves in Londinian territory. Prepare the weapons for my return. Have them ready for deployment as soon as I’m home”

OOC:Eventually they will be. I'll invade them quickly after I take France, if Kirav or NP don't mind. Isn't Kirav suppose to be taking the Germanic areas by now?
First post coming soon.
Thanks for reminding me.
The Kiravian Eigth Fleet Emerged from the fractal reality link connecting Kirav's area of NSEarth to that of this "Europe".
This link emptied out into the Baltic Sea, north of Gdansk, Poland. Gdansk was key to the Empire's plans in Northern Europe. If the port could be captured, it could be used as a staging ground to invade Finland, Germany, Scandinavia, and the British Isles.
Of course, this was not to be rape, pillage, and burn conquest, as the Vikings, who once crossed the very same waters did. No, The Kirav-like Teutono-Celtic cultures of these countries were to be respected and allowed to coexist with the Kiravians. But if there was resistance, it would be crushed.
The first Kiravian ships neared Gdansk. With weapons reared, they waited for the comparitively primitive local military to make the first move.

OOC: I feel like I should clarify the nature of Iyer very briefly. It will not spread very far south because it is a very dense chemical that saturates the immediate surroundings and basically kills every unprotected organism. So, if it spreads, it would be for about five kilometres around the site of impact. Incidentally, NP, you need X11 for Inkscape to work. Perhaps you didn't have that...?
Royal Navy Task Force Foxtrot-Papa-Charlie
Alboran Sea, offshore Spain
Thirty-five bombers staggered into the internalized flight decks of the fleet's twenty Tempora Heroica-class aircraft carriers. Fifteen burning bomber hulks had been left behind, strewn over the Spanish coastline. From the command deck of the superdreadnought HMS Sir Alistair Davidson, Admiral Charles Dalton cursed himself silently, and then prayed for Mars to look upon the Londinians with a smile.
He turned around to his gaunt weapons officer, whose bony face was illuminated only be the red computer display, and nodded curtly. The weapons officer nodded in reply and tapped a few buttons. For a brief few seconds, the sun vanished behind a curtain of over two thousand Storm Shadow cruise missiles, all of which flew towards Gibraltar. On the tail of the missile barrage was 728 Eurofighter Typhoons and around nine hundred A-10 Lightning II bombers, which flew towards Andalusia. The Typhoons, enveloping the bombers in a diamond formation, were tasked with taking out any threats to the bombers whilst they unleashed their deadly cargo - incendiary explosives and fuel air bombs - on Pictish positions below.

Gibraltar
The Second Battlefleet preparing for the invasion of Valencia was immediately redirected to the position of the first, offshore of Gibraltar. Five hundred and twenty Eurofighter Typhoons had just arrived to relieve the fleeing F-22 Raptors now that stealth was no longer an advantage. The sheer volume of enemy fighters blackened the sky, and once more a barrage of anti-air missiles and countermeasures were hurled into the air by the fleet, the Gk-22, Mk-44 and Gk-26 suites trying desperately to thin out the incoming doom. On the ground, the marines had begun to secure the coastal fortresses surrounding the beachheads, killing all the remaining soldiers left cowering in their stone carcasses. As the surviving cruise missiles descended, the Picts huddled in their enemy’s defences, escaping the main bombardment. Then the screams of the Thunderbolt's bombs came down, incinerating every structure in their wake. Nearly a thousand soldiers who were unlucky enough to not find deep enough cover or none at all were either wiped out in a flash, or left to burn in the hellish atmosphere now enveloping the battlefield.
North of the beachhead, the pathfinders continued to secure the rest of the Spanish Anti-Air batteries and turn them on the incoming enemy air force, sending a fresh hail of missiles at the screen.
Third Fleet holding position, Pictish Sea
Gaius dismounted from the Chinook and strode towards his pre-assembled commanders, with an expression of sheer rage. Londinians! Londinians dared attack the Imperium! Nay, they dared use chemical and incendiary weapons against the Imperium's soldiers! As he approached the assorted men and women Gauis unsheathed his gunblade and defiantly pointed it at the distant Londinian fleet,
"If you could be so gallant to inform me why Children of the Imperium are being incinerated by Londinium Commander Ghenna?"
The commander was about to open his mouth to speak but was cut short by the Consul-
"Cancel all foreign operations immediately, I want the full might of the Imperium brought down on those scum! Leave the Third through fifth fleets in Pictavia and deploy fuel-pods along the straights for the fighters. I want at least two thousand planes in the Andalusian sky as soon as possible! And return their fire!"
As the orders were linked through to the First and Second Fleet's networks, the variants of the GK28E, Neptune C302 and Mk 41 vertical launching systems of the fleet trained their missiles on the Londinian fleet and opened fire, filling the air with all shapes of anti-shipping ballistica. At home, the crews of thousands of A-12 Avenger II's, Eurofighter Typhoons and F-22 Raptors prepared for take-off, while hundreds of Dassault nEUROn's were prepped for assault.

IC:
It wasn't long before the rulers of Gdansk noticed the black-grey, heavily armed ships rushing towards their harbour. THey dispatched their own navy to see to this. A comparatively hapless squadron of gunboats and small battleships moved cautiously towards the Head of the Imperial line. Both convoys paused afore each other, waiting for someone to strike first. A loudspeaker on board the Kiravian commandship delivered an ultimatum:
"Citizens of Gdansk. We are of the Kiravian Empire, a civilization far beyond the world of your reckoning. We have come with the intention of making Europe part of that civilization, and of melding your culture with our own. If you surrender now, you will not be harmed in the least. We have not come to kill you, rape your women, or plunder your city. We will not even enter your homes. You will become part of the Empire, and respected as such.
But beware, if not, you will be conquered. Our weaponry and tactical skills are far superior to yours. You may fight hard, but your city will fall.
You have two hours to surrender."

To Nova Pictavia:
Our newest addition to our fleet, Surface Group 1, will be arriving shortly to your aid. We hope that our Carthage Class Air Defence Cruisers will help out, and the YMS Aurora, a Glacier Class, will be able to lend air defence as well.
To Kirav:
We realize that you would like to conquer Scandinavia, however, many Yanitarians are of Norwegian origin. Could we perhaps convince you to let us take Norway instead? Perhaps we could barter for it? Of course, if you agree, your troops will have full military access.
OOC: Post to come soon.

Southern France:
3 MS-12 'Vespa" military scooters were hidden in the forest. Just as the advertisements said, they were invisible.
The gunners, 6 Yanitarian Marine Paratroopers were huddled under the tarps, watching as a line of tanks came along the road, some 3km away. (OOC: The design Leafistani based it off was a real world french vespa with a recoiless rifle. It could fire 7km)
Silently, they aimed at the middle vehicles. A Leclerc, and 2 AMX-30B2's were at the center, while a VBL was on point, followed by two VAB's. 2 more VAB's, an ERC 90, and three massive AMX 30 AuF1's brought up the rear.
One paratrooper pulled out a detonator, detonating a large amount of remote anti-tank mines, destroying the three lead vehicles.
Quickly, they fired a round at each tank. The Two AMX-30B2's were down for the count, but the Leclerc turned it's turret, and started scanning the forest.
Two more rounds were needed to put it out of commission. One round took out of VAB.
The Last volley of rounds took out the last VAB and the ERC 90. A third round also derailed the treads on a AMX-30 AuF1.
The three artillery pieces aimed in the direction of the paratroopers, firing randomly.
Several trees were cleared, so the paratroopers quickly ditched the camo-netting, mounted their scooters, and quickly took off towards the artillery.
One shell came dangerously close to the lead vespa, with shrapnel wounding the passenger. One of the vespas had a smoke launcher welded to the front, which the passenger of that scooter fired. Three smoke bombs flew through the air, landing on the side of the road. The shelling slowed, and the vespas bought enough time to park in front of them. They quickly dismounted, and charged. The paratrooper who was driving the wounded man simply cooked a frag, and threw it down a hatch, and sprayed his P-90 down another.
The other four, two to each artillery piece, threw their only flash bangs down the hatch, and yelled for the occupants to surrender. The 8 French soldiers raised their hands, and exited the vehicle. All of them were blind at the moment, and were bleeding from the ears.
The paratrooper that had simply killed the enemy crawled into the last vehicle, while two paratroopers herded the captives away, and two more moved the scooters away.
Once everything was clear, he backed the big piece of artillery up to a safe distance. He crawled into the firing area, and loaded a round. He used the manual crank to aim the gun at the other vehicles, one by one, ensuring not only that they would not be used, but that they would be hard to move.
He then pulled out all the shells, and loaded them into the drivers seat. He exited the vehicle, and threw a frag down the driver's hatch, and ran.
The explosion was massive. All that was left of the machine was a crater and half of the chassis.
The paratroopers left the area, walking the scooters, until they came to a farm house. There, the prisoners were taken into the basement, and stripped down to their underwear. They were duct taped thoroughly, and left in a small room with a single guard.
From the paratrooper command post, the captain of the company radioed in.
Meanwhile, a captured truck carried the paratroopers farther out. Near the town of Orange, where two major roads met, the paratroopers assembled.
Here, there was to be a revolt against the government. Already partisans, led by LEP soldiers had infiltrated. The latter had secretly organized the shootings of several students, mostly young women, protesting the current war state of affairs. Already among the population there was much dissent, but the shootings had pushed them to insane levels.
The paratroopers, in their convoy of French civilian vehicles came to a checkpoint. A CRS man came up to the truck, and was shot in the head. The trucks started speeding off, but not before a missile had been fired from the back of one, and several troopers had gotten up and started firing. All the trucks lit up as men fired from them, except the one in the very middle. They all sped towards the agreed meeting point, an open air market, where a group of people were being riled up by a partisan.
"Will we stand for a government that thinks that using biological weapons in Spain is okay? What happens when they gas us? They already don't mind shooting your daughters in the streets! I think not that it is time to talk, I think it is time to start fighting! Look there, my comrades! Trucks from Yanitaria!"
The middle truck pulled up, and two men from the back opened the bed. Out of it, they started handing out weapons to the crowd, and shouting "Fight for your freedoms, comrades!"
The crowd accepted the weapons, Steyr AUG's, AKM's, AY-112's, Bizon 9mm's, and RPG-29's. Soon the very large crowd, armed mostly with hunting rifles, was ready to go.
Just as they collectively moved with the trucks into the town, 100 CRS men in full riot gear came from each side of the street.
And RPG-29 round streaked towards one of the lines, detonating, and killing at least 10. They police charged, backed by a large IFV. The people fired at the shields, wounding some police men. But it was the trucks that did the greatest damage. Fearlessly, civilians and paratroopers charged the riot squads with their vehicles, running down many. The police fired at the trucks, killing a few men, but most scrambled ineffectively out of the way. As one truck neared the IFV, a paratrooper launched a missile at it, detonating it's ERA armour, which wounded a policeman near by.
On the other side, from the roof, a partisan fired an RPG-7 with a dual warhead down at the top of the second IFV, killing it's crew, and crippling it.
From windows, men armed with hunting rifles took pot shots at the police below. One lucky civilian had a submachine gun, and sprayed the police with 9mm rounds.
Soon the police were in full retreat. However, they were rallied, and turned back under penalty of death by the army, who had arrived.
A Leclerc came down from the north road, followed by a full infantry platoon. The trucks lined up, creating an improvised road block, and the paratroopers evacuated the vehicles. The Leclerc shot on before the men in the cab could exit, and raked the civilians with it's coaxial.
Suddenly, something extremely loud exploded. From under the Leclerc, a bomb had exploded, cracking the road, and sending a manhole cover up into the bottom of the tank. Given the pause, an RPG round with a dual warhead hit the hatch from above, killing the commander and gunner.
The infantry took cover in the nearest buildings, shooting the men with rifles who had fired on them. Through the windows the now occupied French infantry were fired on by civilians and partisans.
One paratrooper ducked behind a wall, and radioed for air support. The rioters led by the Yanitarians held the street, keeping the soldier's heads down, and thwarted attempts to flank them. For a whole thirty minutes, they waited, until finally their request was moved up on the list of targets.
4 Su-34's flew in flow and fast, slowing only to get a good aim, before firing 20 80mm rockets, and dropping their bombs on the buildings the paratroopers had marked with orange smoke.
The buildings toppled, with all the French soldiers, and the 100 or so reinforcements that had survived. Finally, the rioters moved through the city. People came out of their homes, picking up weapons and ammo, and soon the rioter's numbers had increased 10 fold.
Soon the rioting had consumed the city, until only the town hall was left. There, the mayor, and 25 French soldiers surrendered.
Throughout Southern France, the Yanitarian Marines moved up, going as far as Limousin, and linking up with the Marines who landed on the western coast.
In Northern France, despite the easier landings, taking towns became much more difficult. Because of the lack of LEP soldiers and partisans, the northerners were hostile to Yanitarian forces.
In all fronts, Yanitarian Marines were being replaced by Army Regulars, while the marines primarily served as shock troops.
In Paris, the government vowed to never surrender until they were at the door step of Paris. They increased military spending, conscripted citizens, and nearly doubled their army strength. To all foreign nations, they begged for help in pushing back the Yanitarian Armed Forces.
The Yanitarian Navy pulled back, installing a blockade on Bertagne and Pays de la Loire. Surface Group 1 arrived in the straight of Gibraltar.
Three Days Later:
From Brussels, a meeting ended in a press conference. Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg each pledged their support of France, and vowed to send troops and supplies. All three Carrier Task Forces prepared for an attack, and Yanitarian submarines started patrolling Belgian and Dutch waters.
In France, several patrols of Yanitarian Army Regulars were ambushed by Belgian Special Forces.

Royal Command Room
The Command Room in the Royal Complex in Veeii was busier than it had ever been. Officers from high-ranking Generals to lieutenants acting as aides and runners scurried over the floor, scooting around computer terminals monitored by assistants searching for more information.
“It’s all chaos, right now,” muttered an aide, hunched over a map of Europe with the head of South Thasland, the Mapmaker. “The Picts have moved against Spain, and it looks like their landing at Gibraltar has been successful. The Picts now control shipping in an out of the Mediterranean. Their ally, Yanitaria, has come into the picture recently, but has moved swiftly. In response to French provocation, they have launched an assault. We’re just now getting feeds on that, but it looks like the French Navy is suffering. The De Gaulle is down, apparently, and the rest of the fleet is being pounded.”
“How recent is this?” the Mapmaker said, not taking his eyes off the map in front of him.
“Fairly recent, my lord. We’re just getting these reports now.”
“Sir!” another aide broke in, looking at a computer screen. “Kirav just entered the conflict, they’re threatening the German states.”
“Delkorians, sir! Their joining the Pictavians!”
“Spanish reports leaking out indicate a gas attack at Gibraltar. Details are sketchy, I can’t tell if it was for or against Nova Pictavia.” The Mapmaker turned to a lower general standing nearby.
“How soon can the Expeditionary Force be readied?”
“Give’em a day, sir. They’re prepping as we speak. Do you intend to deploy?”
“Yes, but not for combat just yet. I’ve got an idea, I’ll brief everyone in the conference room.

Military Briefing Chamber
“Gentlemen (and ladies as well), we face an interesting dilemma. Our old allies harkening back to the days of the Combined Heart Alliance, the Picts, have launched a massive campaign against Spain. The target of such an attack can only be greater Europe. This aggressive move has been aided by Delkor, another CHA member, and Kirav. These attacks have been noted by the international community. British Londinium, who we mobilized to help during the Kraven Crisis, has stepped in to oppose these allied forces. With interests on both sides, I have taken ordered all Thas bases to proceed to Defcon 3, and have ordered the Expeditionary force to be ready to move out by tomorrow morning. The rest of the armed forces have been alerted, and put on standby.
“It is obvious that South Thasland should act, but what side should she act on? Shall we condone blatant acts of aggression? Or shall we let a noble friendship, and a close bond with Nova Pictavia and Delkor fail? I would never hope to see the day when Thas troops fire on the Picts or Delkorians. But I would just as strongly abhor the thought of allowing a power grab at the expense of others go unchallenged.
“My friends, it is obvious that Europe is being divided up. It’s future is a battleground. In the end, it seems, a new Europe will Emerge, dictated (or at least influenced) by the whims of the Terranist movement. Is this bad? Not necessarily. The environment will surely flourish, and a global catastrophe could be averted. Bu what then? The Terranist movement is a religious movement. While they control an allied government, I fear that, in the future, it is possible for that movement to become unstable. Where would we be then?
“We must take steps to insure that South Thasland holds some influence in the Mediterranean region, and in Greater Europe. Therefore, we must take steps to place Thas troops in the region. We must take steps to place them in key areas, namely the Suez Canal and the Strait of Gibraltar. I have sent a request to the governments of Egypt and Morocco in the hopes that we may be granted bases in these nations.
“As of tomorrow, the Thas Expeditionary Force, comprised of the 10,000 members of the Veeii Defense Force, shall ship out for Morocco. They will be backed by the 3rd Army as soon as it is ready. The 1st Army has orders to deploy to Egypt. If all goes wall, we will be granted bases in the nations. In this way, we may provide for a better future for the region without resorting to violence. If not, then (as much as I despise the idea) we must use force to ensure that we have a place in the future of Europe.”
To the Government of Egypt
Undoubtedly you have been watching the events play out in Spain and France. With war brewing in the West, it would not be a stretch for it to spread to the East, and to Egypt. We care about the future as much as you do, and share your worries. If it would be within reason, we would like to ask that Thas troops be allowed to set up bases in your lands. In return for your gracious hosting of our troops, which we hope to use to safeguard the future of the region, we will gladly defend Egypt against any outside invader.

The Imperial Arcologies of Èideann
Gaius had barely made it home when he was interrupted taking off his armor by a tall older-man with silver-gray hair and beard, walking into the chamber. He rested his hands on the windowsill before him and hung his head- not even the beauty of the Imperial Palaces could revive him.
"Sir, intelligence from Morocco, Thas troops are preparing to move into the region under the impression of guarding the area"
Gaius immediately stood straight-back up, grabbed his gunblade and sheathed it, striding straight towards the doors of the hall. His political aide and High councilor, Lhaaran Áedh, watched the Consul leave the room with an expression of concern and surprise upon his face. The Consul was more than his leader, he was a friend, nay, family. These were trying times for everyone, international puppeteering was a dangerous and unpredictable game.
"Sir-"
Lhaaran began before the Consul cut him off, speaking gravely under his breath,
"There's a war to fight, my friend"

Imperial Communiqué
To The Emirate of South Thasland,
It has come to the attention of the Imperium that Thas troops are mobilizing and deploying in Morocco, a designated priority area of expansion. I most honorably suggest this to be an unwise decision, as the region is currently embroiled with war. Londinium has attacked Pictavia, such an action cannot go unpunished and the Imperium seeks to continue it's expansion into Morocco once the Londinian threat has been eliminated.. Europe is corrupt, and fragmented, with the only solution being the integration of local assets into the greater state along ethnic and geographical borders.
Although no-formal alliance exists between our nations anymore, I feel confident enough to trust the Emirate, and deem Thasland no-less than a noble friend.

SCENE: Situation Room, Shazbotdom Imperial Palace, Shaz City, Shazbotdom
Several screens were now pointed to the situation near the Mediterranian. A message had been sent to the Supreme Emperor to report to the 4th Sub-Basement of the Palace Building. Grand Admiral James E. Rockenbach had been sitting there at a consol for several hours, watching the events unfold. when it became time to notify the rest of the Joint Chiefs and the Supreme Emperor, he had taken it upon himself to send the message.
Within a few minutes, the elevator opened and the Joint Cheifs walked in. The Supreme Emperor, Mr. George A. Loak, walked in behind them. He immeditally walked over. "What's the situation?"
"Sir. I've been watching the events near the SoG using Satelite Intel. Aparently the nation of Nova Pictavia has taken control of the Straights and is restricing naval traffic. Especially that of shipping."
George sighed. He then looked over at the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Larry Williams. "Larry. Do we have any trading partners in that region?"
"No, Sir. Our only trading partner in that region is accessable through the Middle East."
"Alright. Just keep an eye on this situation and make sure that nothing happens to any of our allies in the region."
With that, George turned around and walked back to the Elevator, leaving the situation room.

Gdansk, Poland
Poland refused to surrender.[Note: POland is currently under a Communist monopartisan government] Upon hearing this decision, the Kiravian fleet attacked.
It only took a 15 volleys of fire to brake the Polish naval line. Once the formation was disarrayed, an all out, close range battle began. It was ship-to-ship, shells flying this way and that. The Polish fleet was ripped to shreds by the superior Imperial weaponry. With that seen to, the EMpire set upon conquering itself a new city.
Assault Ships pulled into Gdansk's port, unleashing hundreds of soldiers onto the docks. The city had not a chance. The local resistance was routed out in the city's streets, and Kiravian sentries took their stations on street corners.
The Imperial Star was raised over the city. The capture of Gdansk, or now, Saar-Polonia, had been swift and easy. With this new base of power, the Empire could begin its conquest of Northern Europa, and then move on to the true prize: North America.

The Far Echo Islands
19-11-2007, 02:19
[La Beastia City]
“¡Libertar España! ¡Teminar la guerra!” Came the defening cries from the crowd swarming the governor’s office in La Beastia City, on Frio Island. The taking of the island from Spanish rule in the 1990’s had not been the most popular move of the Echoese government. Many Frioians even wanted the Island to be ceded back to Spain. And the recent news of the Pictish imperial invasion of Gibraltar had not sat well with the two million or so people on Frio Island.
Many carried large Spanish flags and waved them through the air, and shouted various phrases in Spanish, some calling for a simple end to Pictish operations, some cursing the Picts for their very existence. Many Frioians still considered themselves Spaniards, on Frio Island, there had been no natives, so little crossbreeding had occurred. Here the Spanish Heritage was celebrated, they despised the Pictish for this.
But what was this island to the Echoese administration, two million in the northeast, what were they really, what kind of voice did they represent? One for war, for military support of an ally’s enemy, did they have much of a voice at all? The government was not interested in any more of a war than it had already gotten itself into in Demonted which was being kept highly secret.
At about 17:00, Governor Jose Santana stepped out onto a stage and delivered a speech about the situation:
[The original speech was in Spanish, the following is a translation by David Jacobs]
“We are decedents of Spain! I swear it, that we shall not sit dormant and watch our brothers in blood be slaughtered by any nation, ally or enemy! We are part or parcel of Spain, ancient Spanish blood flows through all our veins; we are as much Spanish as we are Echoese! To sit here and watch Spain be invaded for the glory of another nation, is an insult to us, our culture, our heritage, to every thing that is Spain! Let it be known, to the Arbiter of this Confederation, the Ruler of the Picts, to the world, that if these atrocities do not stop, if our government will not take action to save our brothers and sisters in Spain, we will secede from this Confederacy, and become our own nation, and I will take all the resources we have and pour them into the defense of Spain! We are Frioians! We are Spanish! That we will defend! If the current government will not take action, we will make a new government, one that will! Long live Frionia! Long live Spain!
After the end of the speech, the crowd cheered thunderously.
[Dolphinea]
“Sectary Mendel!” one of the various Palace staff working for the Arbiter called to the sectary of state as he was proceeding down the hallway/
“Yes.” Mendel turned to face the short, Caucasian woman in her mid 30’s whom was wearing a blue skirt and blouse.
“We have a situation on Frio Island.” she handed him a large folder containing various reports on the Picitsh imperialism, the protests, everything related to the topic. As the sectary of state flipped through it, his expression worsened, into a deep frown. Meanwhile the woman continued: “They’re threatening secession, but, this could lead to war with the Picts, which can’t happen, it’d be an absolute mess of foreign relations!”
“Jesus take the wheel.” The Sectary began, “I’m calling Hyit on this one, he picked a bad time to leave.” With that he strode off.
In a private office, Mendel called the Arbiter.
“Clearance code Birds in the Sky.” said Mendel
“Clearance code Dolphins are Free.” replied the Arbiter.
“Delpin, we are in some deep shit down here.”
“What the hell is going on now, more Akimonadi shit?”
“No worse, the Frioians are demanding some action in the Pictish-European theatre; they want an end to the Pictish conflict with Spain. They are threatening secession if we don’t do something.” Mendel said in a worried tone.
“Calm down, let’s try diplomacy first, that is my foreign policy, remember. Offer to host a peace conference, something of the sort, ok?”
“Understood Arbiter.”
“Good luck.”
Mendel hung up the phone. He was nervous, the Sectary of State always had had more power than the Vice-Arbiter, and with Hyit gone, it was his job to handle things for now. He got ready to write an offer of peace.

OOC to South Thasland:
Not that Yanitaria has a good reason to invade France, and now it can invade the allies of France.
OOC to Stoklomolvi:
Here is a map of France, with the red areas being occupied/fought over by Yanitarian troops.
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/UNDComrade/FRANCE-1.jpg
It started when Yanitarian LEP soldiers infiltrated France secretly, causing unrest with political assassinations, blowing up a plane with a Yanitarian diplomat sent to peace talks, giving french police officers drugs and then forcing them to kill a Yanitarian exchange student who was leading a protest, robbing armoured cars, inciting riots in poor neighborhoods, and commiting terrorist acts. All of this was done in secret, so the French still think it's simply terrorists.
So Yanitaria invaded France, destroyed their navy, and landed on all coasts, and have started moving inland. The Proletariat supports the invasion, while the Bourgeoisie are the main opposition.
The Yanitaria has now blockaded all of Free France's waters, which is just the north western most region.
Recently, though, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands have decided to interdict, to protect themselves. In their nations, only about half of the Proletariat are against the war, with everyone else being Pro-France.
Yanitaria is a bit undermanned in the theater, but their numbers have been increasing. Currently, small towns are being taken for Yanitaria by the civilians led by LEP's, partisans, and paratroopers.
Jump in as soon as you want. Your tech is limited to what the French (and her allies) have currently, or are developing.
To The Echoese Islands:
Yanitaria will send a diplomat to observe the negotiations.

Imperial Communiqué
To Los Reino de España and The Confederate States of the Echo Islands,
The Imperium has but one offer for Los Reino de España, and that is the total, complete surrender of Andalusia, Murcia, Valenica, The Balearic Islands, Melilla, Ceuta and Catalonia. The people of España are Celtiberian, as are the Picts, the first inhabitants of Iberia. España is rightfully ours, and the peoples of Iberia our descendants, thus we offer a compromise: The former territories are to be transitioned to complete Imperial rule, while the remainder of España shall remain a semi-independent protectorate. The alternative is the conquer of Iberia.
The Imperium wishes the people of Iberia no-harm, we are brethren. It was Londinium who subjugated Gibraltar to such a horrific chemical and incendiary bombardment, and the Imperium repelled the Latin barbarians. Join the Imperium and your Pictish brothers will fight and die to defend your heritage, and your children.

Andalusia, España
With the Londinian assault repulsed, and the beachhead subsequently conquered, the Imperial forces advanced north, south and west from the battlefield. M-3 Arbiter MBT's tore through the Iberian countryside, eliminating all resistance before them, while the ACI-73D AQVILA's dominated the sky. The main Spanish army had been absent from the battle of Gibraltar, holding their line on the Andalusian border, but the Picts weren't interested in Madrid as the Spaniards thought, instead advancing along the coastline behind the enemy coastal fortifications. With the landings at Valencia abandoned, most of the Spanish coastal defence had been transferred there, leaving Murcia strategically weak. The Second-Fleet swiftly redeployed, opening up a new beachhead here with the intention of meeting the advancing soldiers moving up from Gibraltar.
Apparantly, only thirty-three per cent of the Southern Iberian population supported the Imperium. Only that small fraction were making their voices heard, loudly. Catalonian freedom-fighters terrorized the Spanish Nationalist forces on a daily basis, while much of the army was sent north to re-take Galicia, Asturias and Basque country from rising insurgencies who supported the Pictish proposal of autonomy for the north. The centralized government was feeling the pressure, not only from the Imperial invasion, but from it's own citizens...

Official Declaration
We do not wish that hostilities break out between the Echo Islands and Pictavia, as we would inevitably be drawn into the fray.
As such, we declare that the Echoese territories in or near Spain are under Akimonadi administration. We declare a state of neutrality in this war. Attacks on said territories shall be met with cold steel fury.

"Hold in international waters, Woppet. Nova Pictavia's a little touchy about us moving in under their noses. We don't want a war with a good ally, so we're playing safe for now."
"The Picts are fucking ingrates if they don't let us into Morocco, after what we did for them during the Utopian Crusades-"
"Do you have to find a problem with anyone who isn't Thas? I don't blame them for being a little cautious. We haven't been dealing with them in a while, they're no doubt a little uneasy about us moving in to their war."
"We're not doing a thing, just getting in edgewise-"
"Into a territory which they already have plans for."
"All we're doing is requesting permission to station some troops there."
"Which is going to be a problem when the Picts roll through. We'd be in a quandrary, because we would have promised our aid to the Moroccans. What's Egypt going to think when Morocco falls? You see, the Picts are being nice enough to let us know there's a conflict of interest here. We'll work it out."
"And if it doesn't?"
"Worst case scenario? You're doing an amphibious landing on fortified beaches held by the Picts."
"How do you always talk me into the suicide missions?"

ooc: sorry for not being clear, I don't have holdings in Spain, Spain has holdings in me, sort of, my history follows a similar course to the real stuff, the Spanish Empire and all, but A small portion of my nation (Frio Island) (While at that time in my history I was part of the Echo Empire, but I don't want to go into a long discussion of my history right now, save for the relevant info) was conquered by the Spanish and remained that way until the 1990's when we pulled a raid on the place and pushed the Spanish out, most just looking to expand our borders.(Note, my nation gained independence in 1971)
It is an alternate history Spanish enclave in my nation created because I like Spain [its my back-up, back-up country in case something happens to both the US [current country] and Australia.] Frio Island is no place in real life, see my map and find 'Frio Island' and that's were this is, I map my nation on a north Atlantic map, and that puts Frio just a little north of Spain. It's awful cold for Spaniards, but that's part of the juxtaposition of stuff that I made my nation on purpose so as to keep it interesting.

Xixón, Asturia, Northern Iberia
Gaius sat in his cabin aboard the Imperial Warship Ifrit, eyes locked on the view-screen in front of him. What were the Thas upto? The Picts were already taking a considerable risk by deploying four fleets outwith Pictish waters, and with a former ally acting rather suspiciously on Pictavia's politikosphere... Gaius was becoming increasingly uncertain of their intentions. His attention was soon diverted to new information pulsating on the screen; news from the front-line. Andalusia had been secured, with a large percentage of the Spanish army moving north to intercept what they expected to be a new northern front. Little did they know that the fleet was merely harboring in a friendly port while the Akimonadi situation became clear. Guerrilla-fighting had broken out in Murcia, but the lack of Spanish forces in the region ended in a swift Pictish victory, with the meeting armies preparing to push north-east into Valencia. The Spanish navy was still docked in the Balearic Islands slowly becoming surrounded by Imperial warships, watching their time slip slowly away...

To The Emirate of South Thasland:
We most graciously thank the Emirate for their offer of assistance, bet fear we must decline. The Iberian invasion is a unification of separated Celtiberian peoples, and thus those kept under the heel of the Españan government must be liberated by their lost brethren.
In terms of Morrocco, we humbly request that Thas troops maintain a degree of distance from the region in the future. With that said, we will not permit any non-Commonwealth members to establish military bases in any region or protectorate of the Imperium as a mere measure of security.
However, should the Thas join the Utopian Commonwealth, therefor becoming an ally of the Imperium once-more, your requests will undoubtedly be taken into longer consideration.

Hey, since it looks like Stoklomolvi vanished, I'll continue to RP the French and their allies. I am gonna throw in a set back for my forces, so I'll post sometime tonight.
OOC: I offer this as a propsal to both South Thasland or Nova Pictavia. I had considered having Galene as a fictional island in the western half of the Mediterranean and a sort of intermingled population from the surrounding coastal nations – Galene was supposed to be a play on the early Greek language.
The proposal is this. If you’d be willing to accept that Galene has ‘always been there’ and accept me into the RP I would like play out the conquering of my nation and the installation of either some form of vassal state, or territory. I could even go so far as moving into your region.
The details of it could be worked out later (like what GDP calculator you prefer and how much of my military budget you want – and yes I am thinking the answer will be something in excess of 90%) but are either of you interested?
If you need more info TG me with whatever instant messenger you use and I will add you. I like having the other players in RPs on my IM either way.

Frio Islands Secede Confederacy
“We the people of the Kingdom of Frioia, we have now seceded the Confederacy, due to the Confederacy’s lack of action over the actions of the Picts invasion of Spain, and so as not to be engulfed in the coming war, we have decided that it is in our best interests not to be a part of the Confederate States of the Echo Islands. We hereby declare ourselves the Kingdom of Frioia, one nation, independent from all the others in the world.” Governor Jose Santana or perhaps he should be called King Jose the First, declared today at 12:00 Echoese Mean Time. Secession is legal under the Confederate States of the Echo Islands’ constitution, however it is rare, as the people tend to view the nation as right, and it also works well for protection purposes. The Kingdom of Frionia is a [fictional] former Spanish Colony in the Far Echo Islands taken over by the country in the 1990’s.
After the speech, the large crowd that had assembled cheered wildly.
At the Governeror's office turned royal palace, King Jose had assembled aids to discuss the situation in España.
"We have serious problems now." Began Advisor Dante Carlos, "We, being an independent nation, have no alliance at all with the Picts, and they know we don't like them and the mess they have created in Spain. But, look, we do have the Naval Graveyards, which gives us 2 Ranger Class Aircraft Carriers and 5 Iowa Class battleships to work with, we can also enact a draft, which can give us about 45, 000 troops or so, enough to put up a decent fight, they won't be a royal guard, we'll likely only be able to equip such a big force quick enough with AK-47's and the likes of them, but we can sure help the Spanish."
"I agree," Began the King, "Ready the Armada, and issue my decree for the draft."
And what the King said was done.

"Imperial Iberia"
The Pictish forces continued to push North, East and West until they reached the sea, despite the combined northern fleet being dispatched to The Far Echo Islands. With Murcia and Valencia now secured, the 2nd Imperial Battlefleet now sighted new lands for conquest: Galene. A nation of immeasurable strategic importance, it was not long before the fleet had recalled its marines and turned it's attention to the next target. The entire fleet, headed by three Glacier-class Aircraft Carriers tore through the deep-blue of the Mediterranean sea, with war on their minds.

Hence, they took their hidden cache of AMX Leclercs and VBLs and started travelling north, into Yanitarian territory. With their FAMAS assault rifles and FN Minimis, they hoped to reclaim what land was rightfully theirs.
The main Yanitarian camp at Evreux was caught off guard.
French forces had come up behind the lines, and were now attacking the small town.
Marines, and Army regulars took up positions along all the bridges across the River Iton, while a force of mostly Army Regulars held their position on the edges of town.
Leopard II tanks, CV 90 IFV's, and RG-31's armed with grenade launchers backed up the bridges, while IFV's and RG-31's patrolled the streets. The city park had been turned into a depot for Tanks, where they could be deployed all along the city.
In a smaller park, rocket artillery fired relentlessly at the Free French Forces, while Su-34's specifically targeted French tanks.
C-130's made resupply drops aiming for the train yard. The Train Station had been converted to the main supply depot.
All over the city, French Loyalists took up arms with hunting rifles and started firing on Yanitarian patrols.

To The Kingdom of Frioia:
España is corrupt, fascist, and mislead. For centuries, the peoples of Asturia, Gallicia, Catalonia and Basque have battled against the totalitarian control of Madrid. Each dash of autonomy handed out by the capitol a mere illusion of freedom: Under the Imperium, España will flourish as the liberated territories already do. If only their leaders would come to their senses and see the fruits the Imperium have to offer, but no, they will cling onto power with every last breath.
The Imperium will end its conquest of Iberia, and retain the lands already taken, who will be offered the status of Imperial protectorate. If such a deal is struck Frioia would be required to honor their succession, and if not, the decadent will be burned and the Celtiberain peoples united once more.

Rockets and shells exploded all around the Free French, launching shrapnel high into the air. Militia after militia were mowed down by Yanitarian infantry and vehicles, and rockets bombed tanks. Aircraft launched missiles at the French tanks, obliterating them and those around the tanks. However, the French unleashed their hidden arsenal of mustard and chlorine gas upon the Yanitarian infantry.

Yanitarian infantry reached for their gas masks, but many started coughing up lungs, or stumbling around, blind.
The gas spread around town, killing unsuspecting civilians, and any Yanitarian forces that failed to put on their gas masks. However, soon an alert came, and all Yanitarian Infantry had a gas mask and supply of filters.
The local resistance fighters either died, or ran inside, unable to shield themselves from the deadly gases.
Internationally, public opinion turned against the French, as Yanitarian embedded journalists reported on the mass civilian deaths. Appalled, the Netherlands and Luxembourg immediately withdrew support for France, while support in Belgium wavered greatly.
Although many Yanitarians were killed, the chemicals poisoned the waters, killing fish for days. Weakened, the Yanitarian Marines allowed the Free French Forces a bit of a toe hold in one part of the city, but immediately started a fierce battle to regain the lost land. The gas attacks pushed the Yanitarian forces to fight harder, to avenge their comrades.
Above, SU-34's dropped anti-personnel bombs, and launched ATGM's at French tanks. Further out, AH-64's covered Yanitarian Army Regulars, as the reserve force came up behind the city, surrounding the Free French Forces that remained in the city.
Over a speaker system they set up, they ordered all enemy forces to surrender immediately, or they would charge into the French half of the city, taking it, and killing them all.
While they waited for a response, the loudspeakers played propaganda non-stop.

They stuck C4 charges onto every vehicle that they once possessed, and awaited the Yanitarian assault. Reinforcements from Paris via taxi were inbound, and the French hoped that any outside force would aid them in repelling the foreign invasion.

OOC: Didn't they use taxis during on of the world wars? Great for Lulz.
IC:
Yanitarian intelligence in Paris warned commanders that the enemy would be coming in by taxi. Soldiers also noticed that the French seemed to be abandoning their vehicles, and fortifying any structures that they controlled.
In response, Tu-160 dropped mines along all roads not already mined. Yanitarian forces lined up all along France, hoping to wait the government out. Meanwhile, Citizen Mattias Norheim declared that there would be unrestricted bombing of all areas where Free French Forces were said to be.
General Charles De Remi, Supreme Commander of the USSY Armed Forces met with his top Air Corps Sky Marshals, and discussed their new doctrine, a denial of airspace, followed by relentless bombing of military targets. From air strips in Southern France, where Yanitarian support was highest, B-52's took off, hitting military targets with heavy bombs. Su-34's launched bunker busters at hardened targets with in Paris, accompanied by EA-18 Growlers, Su-37's, and Su-47's.
OOC: Intentionally left the fate of the Taxis to you. They'll fight or die depending on whether or not you think the mines would have been dropped fast enough, but I think it would definitely be a stretch of the imagination to say that the mines would have been prepared and dropped in time.

The taxis, upon seeing the supersonic bombers, drove as fast as they could to the front lines. Yanitarian troops were swarming everywhere, and the taxis just drove up to the soldiers under heavy fire and attempted to crush them while troops flew out of the taxis.
Meanwhile, in Paris the defence was high. The Arc de Triomphe was fortified with barbed wire and sandbags and Free French forces were stationed there, while the Eiffel Tower was used as a broadcasting tower. Fountains were used as ammunition dumps, and once the Stoklomolvi message was intercepted and decoded, nearly all cultural items were used as cover and/or used as storage points.

Official Messege to Stoklomolvi (Encyrpted):
We will take every effort to not harm such Items. We feel that these are as much an important part of Yanitarian Heritage as it is French. As for the blockade, the sooner the French surrender, the sooner their citizens may receive food and supplies to help rebuild their country as a province of Yanitaria.
Satellite intelligence provided by our allies have shown that the French, being cowards, have hidden their military supplies in national treasures, and buildings of great importance. Because of this, we will shift our air war to the food supplies and train depots. We will patrol their rivers with small craft and helicopters, while mining their trade routes and derailing their trains. With in the week, the French fields of wheat will burn, and their people will be hungry. They can either give in, and let us help them, as a father aids a misguided child, or they can continue to bite the hand that is now outstretched in Peace.
If this is so, then they will be left to starve. However, as a sign of good fait,we will allow women and children to exit the city, and receive food and clothing at our refugee camps

Encrypted Message to Yanitaria
We have seen the footage from our own satellites, and while the French are being rather cowardly for hiding in cultural objects, it will make the battle all the harder. Stoklomolvi, while in the UC, recommends the use of nerve gas to eliminate the enemy. While devastating to the environment and quite frowned upon, it will not damage cultural objects as much as bullets and bombs.
----------------------
The Free French forces, having been cut off from the outside world, actually ripped apart a section of concrete and planted fast growing Asian squash. Their food supplies would last the militia around one month, and since the women and children started leaving the food supplies would last much longer. Over the next few days, all women and children were evacuated, leaving only the militia inside the city and extending the food supply to four months while the squash was being grown. Trenches were dug around the city, and cultural items were used as shields by the French due to the Stoklomolvi message. The message was partially decoded before Stoklomolvi switched to a different code, which was impervious to the French espionage attempts. However, the French stuck paintings and statues in the trenches and next to sandbags.

Paris:
Paris was abandoned, except for soldiers, and a few thousand brave civilians. The sky was dark, and the soliders couldn't see much above 100m.
They never saw as the B-52's dropped their bombs, containing nerve gas, on the capitol of France.
Yanitaria wrote it off as justified, citing that the French started the chemical warfare at Evreux.

Imperial Communiqué
If such a deal is struck Frioia would be required to honor their succession, and if not, the decadent will be burned and the Celtiberain peoples united once more.

comunicado oficial
We, having good ties with the Spanish, may be able to convince them as you have began to convince us, we are not fully sure of the implications of what will happen to a nation in your Imperium, would you repopulate it with your culture, try to wipe it's native culture out, forcefully or passively? Cultural preservation is the main topic we're interested in as in relation to España.
Your claims, of Spanish corruption and fascism are this time forgiven and overlooked, however, when you insult España, you insult us, to put it bluntly, do not do it again.
Finally, your actions to bring about a cease fire are commendable, thank you for you action on this matter.

Imperial Communiqué
To The Kingdom of Frioia:
Peace in Iberia is my desire, and I shall strive for nothing less. See the chronicles (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=543662) for an example of how a protectorate of the Imperium is treated; with honour and respect. Should you wish to join, and let peace and prosperity reign down upon our children, then reply forthwith my friend. The Far Echo Islands are an invaluable ally of the Picts and brothers in arms, while España are our brethren; our unification is our future.

France:
In Paris, the people lay dead. Yanitarian troops entered the city, still equipped with gas masks, even though the gas had likely dissipated.
President Norheim announced the war in France would end this day, or the city would be a crater.
The citizens of Paris, women and children, rallied in the town, declaring a leader, Marie Pierce. She met with the Yanitarian Colonel, and discussed peace in the French Republic.
After three days, on December 3rd, the French Republic surrendered all it's lands to the USSY, and became a client state.
As punishment for aiding the French in their terrorist acts, the countries of Luxembourg and Belgium were soon over run. Units of the Yanitarian Foreign Legion served admirably in the conflict, and only ran into trouble on the Dutch boarder, when, not wanting to be over run like it's allies, the combined forces destroyed several dams, flooding the countryside, and killing many Yanitarian soldiers.
However, once the Army had gotten out of the mud, they realized that the flooding was a terrible thing to do. The Dutch, Belgian, and the three men from Luxembourg had to retreat all the way to the coast, leaving nothing in between Yanitaria and their last major defenses.
With large Yanitarian bombers arriving every hour, there was soon an all out surrender, and the USSY grew by three provinces.

SUBJECT: The Gibraltar Strait
BODY:
Gaius Kadesh, I have heard of your recent aggression and expansion. While we will not involve ourselves in this event militarily unless our hands are forced into it by hostilities, we wish this to be known.
While we are no longer directly effected due to our land in the Mediterranean sea no longer under our control, we are effected by this due to trade, as well as having allies within the Mediterranean sea. So long as the following demands are met, we will not involve ourselves in this situation.
No ViZionarian ships - civilian or otherwise - shall be blockaded from moving freely through the Strait.
No ViZionarian allied ships - civilian or otherwise - shall be blockaded from moving freely through the Strait.
No ViZionarian ships - civilian or otherwise - will be boarded or otherwise searched or harmed passing freely through the Strait.
No ViZionarian allied ships - civilian or otherwise - will be boarded or otherwise searched or harmed passing freely through the Strait.
ViZion has never been at odds with your nation, and as such we expect to have no resistance against our four simple demands. After all, it is a sovereign right, something I am sure your nation understands to the fullest.
We look forward to having no problems with your nation in this region and elsewhere across the globe.
Thank you,
President Kilo

The Frioian delegate was flown in to Madrid for a conference on the Picts.
"We have both taken not of the Pictish aggression in Iberia, and both sides have begun actions to stop it, but I propose that Frioia and España align, and that we give up what the Picts have already taken. The war has destroyed much, and further war will only prolong the great damages already done and postpone the healing process. The Picts outnumber us greatly and fighting a war to push them out, even with our combined forces, would push all three countries to the brink of collapse." said the Frioian delegate.
"The Frioian delegate makes a good argument, however, the Picts are wrong to be here, they have no right to invade." began the Español delegate.
"But they are here, and we have to face that fact, we the military options to push them out are extremely limited. None of us have nukes, nor do we want to use them on OUR land. Pushing the Picts further, even if they are at war with the Akimonadi will just hurt us all. We should do as the Frioian delegate says." said another español delegate.
Eventually, the decision was reached; Frioia and España would form an alliance and give the Picts what they had conquered in exchange for a cease fire and a promise of no more imperial intentions in Iberia.

España
Here, let it be known that the Kingdom of Spain hereby requests an end to the warring in the operations in Iberia, and a cease fire to be held immediately. We will reconfigure the Pictish claims in the south if these terms are met. So long as the Picts do not re initiate aggressions in España, it shall be a mutual coexistence, and we shall hereby cede all territory so far lost to the Picts.
Also, we wonder if Pictivia is interested in a trisect alliance, or at least non-aggression treaty between España, Frioia, and Pictivia.

Imperial Communiqué
To The Kingdoms of España and Frioia:
In the interests of our Celtiberean peoples, I hereby accept the treaty of peace. The Imperium shall always ensure the survival of the Celtiberean homelands, of that you must not fear. There is no-better trisect alliance than that of the Imperium: both Frioia and España will undoubtedly benefit from our industry, technology and the union of our separated peoples. As an Imperial protectorate, there will be no strenuous demands of your Kingdoms as her sovereignty will be ensured and the Imperial Armed Forces will shield your lands from all aggression. All we ask in return is that we may utilize the fine and honorable forces of both realms for the greater good of the Imperium as a whole:
Free-trade, technological equality, security and unity for the Celtiberean peoples await your decision. As a gesture of goodwill, One-hundred billion Universal Standard Dollars will be sent towards reparations within España, and is to be received alongside no conditions except that of its use to the benefit of the Iberean people.

(OOC: Apologies for being away for so long. Would it be possible for anyone to RP Sicily?)
IC:
The fleet was still in international waters, where it had been for several days. It now was in position for the assult on Sicily, where Woppet's troops would be the first ashore. In all, a force of 60,000 men was to storm the beach. A carrier, the S.T.S. Veeii, was to provide air support. The Sicilian coast would wake up to the shrieks of bombs, and the distant booming of the Thas ships firing. Surprise was the key. By the time the Sicilian army woke up to the fact that the Thas fleet was not proceeding to reinforce the Egyptian troops, as advertised, 60,000 men would be marching toward Syracuse. Thas influence in the Mediterranean was moving along nicely.
“Fit for acquisition? Hmm.” The Consul read the brief message and looked over his staff. Giving his head a slight shake he looked over to the Secretary of Defence. “How goes the armaments?” The Secretary gave a nod and began his report.
“Well sir we have gotten most of our historical coastal forts up and working – bringing the naval guns there back to operation. We have also started tracking transponder codes for the larger Pictish ships and the like. We have seen quite a bit of warfare and seen its results. While we still haven’t managed to crack their encryption codes we can basically keep track of any of their ships in the Mediterranean as long as they are hot on the Pictish network.”
“And if they begin silent running?” The secretary gave a forlorn look to the side and a weak shrug. The Consul had his answer. The secretary continued after he saw the Consul’s face register the bad news. “We have started running active air patrols and begun rigging any and all vessels for anti sub war, but there is one critical component we lack.”
“Oh?”
“If they bring their navy close enough we might be able to fight them off. Torpedo nets, sonar bouys, they’d be in range of the coastal guns, the sea mines, well the whole lot of it. We could really make a mess of it for them. But as long as those aircraft carriers are in operation they could slowly pick at us until we are useless.” The Consul scoffed.
“Useless?”
“Yessir. The first missions would be costly but our projections show that they would over the course of a few days punch serious holes in our detection grid. Then whether by bomber or missile they’d rip apart our defences and crater our runways. Then with no real ability to retaliate they’d use their air superiority to hammer away at what naval defence we had. As long as their strike missions gave our cruisers a wide berth we wouldn’t even be able to shoot back at that point.”
“Hmm. Options?”
“Not many sir, we are already spreading our cruisers out amongst the islands as best we can, try to provide a bit extra air defence – but we simply don’t have enough cruisers.”
“Surely you have something more for me than we will be destroyed?”
“Not particularly sir. Unless something takes out the Pictish projection power we are in trouble.”
It was at this point the Secretary of Foreign Affairs stood and made his point known. Already growing impatient with the talk of a military solution his voice cracked with strain.
“Consul surely we can answer them, reason with them. If it comes down to it maybe a tithe could even be setup so that we could maintain our sovereignty.”
“No.”
“But sir,”
“NO! Secretary Dommel your concerns have been aired but Galene will not willingly capitulate. Did you see their offer to us? If it is not taken in seriousness we will be rained upon by fire? Have you not seen what they have done to Spain? What, through complicity they have done to France? Damn it Dommel I don’t want to fight these people but I won’t hop into be with them either. You will continue ignoring the message and looking around for something to better protect the nation.”
“…”
“What?”
“…yes,… sir.” The Consul’s nostrils flared his blood pressure on the rise. The other secretaries were onboard and their reports were favourable. The citizenry was tense but they were pulling together, rationing was going over as well as could be expected. The factories were already on wartime production, quotas were being met and surpassed, but the Consul couldn’t help but feel as though his children would be speaking Pictish.
“Was there anything else?” The consul dismissed the meeting with a wave of his hand once he saw that there was indeed nothing else. He didn’t know how much time radio non-contact would buy him but he hoped it would be enough.

OOC: Sorry, but that's what it looks like.
(OOC Hmm then I am going to have to officially withdraw. I don't like the idea of perpetually having air craft carriers off my coast which may or may not do something based on OOC circumstances.
