Mystery on Milokeenia

Milokeenia, an uninhabited world that has been the subject of several energy spikes emanating from it. The Kotor Class Destroyer Chrono came out of hyperspace above the planet. Dr. James Helsing, leader of the expedition and top scientific mind of the Ganoxian Research Institute, looked out of his window to see the world he would soon investigate. Sirens and red lights turned on.

"Lieutenant?" Captain Kilroy Brooks asked.

"Energy spikes are emitting from the planet!"

"What? Where?"

"Coming in at point 3-5."

"Evasive maneuvers."

"Aye sir, evasive maneuvers."

The ship rotated and turned to the left. The energy spike was a near miss as it dissipated into the void.

"Goddam that was close. Where did it emit from? We'll start this little field trip there."

"Sir, it seemed to emit around this area."

"Alright send two shuttles to the surface. Alert Dr. Helsing and his entourage to begin preparations to land."

A page was sent to Dr. Helsing who was already with his team in the equipment room. "Already prepared captain. Boarding on the transport as we speak."

The two shuttles flew out of the hangar and headed for the area in question. They descended into the atmosphere and passed through the cloud line. Helsing and his team saw the immense ruins of the area. Buildings of different variations were all in ruin, but one stood out. Helsing spotted the large dome that jutted out from the rest of the ruins. "Land near that structure," he said to the pilot.

The two shuttles landed at the spot where Helsing suggested. Large equipment was carried out and set up in the surrounding area. Gauges, scales, scopes, you name it was littered about. "Lets get started shall we?"

The team went into the structure. Everything was a complete mess much like the outside. Stones and other objects were everywhere. They ventured deeper into the structure finally coming up to what was like an elevator. Helsing decided to use a probe to test it for traps. Nothing happened.

They went down the elevator. "Dr Helsing we are getting some seismic activity withing the complex!"

"What!?"

Rumbling could be felt. Stones began to drop from the ceiling and crash down on the ground above. As soon as the elevator came to the last level a bluish white color shined through. Helsing caught a glimpse of the energy emitting from the ground or what seemed to be the ground. "Sir the energy is giving me a magnitude 2 reading."

"Amazing!"

A few seconds later the energy spike stopped. "Dr. Helsing are you okay? Come in Dr. Helsing."

"We're okay down here. How does the surface look?" .

"The elevator shaft seems to be blocked. It will take us some time to clear it out."

"Well in the meantime we will continue the investigation, but I do not think our equipment will be sufficient. We will need the Coredian equipment to take better data of this occurrence."

"Alright sending out a message to nearest Coredian outpost," Brooks said

It was a minor outpost in a red dwarf system devoid of any planet, just a few large chunks of rock and a relay station that took over the innards of one of those rocks.

The three techies who worked there were newbies fresh out of the Academy, as it often turns out to be the case what with the war getting rid of many of the veterans. It was of course, a D-level mission, not expected to get any more exciting than watching paint dry.

Then it did get a bit exciting, when an esteemed ally contacted the station.

"Hey, Jan." One of the techies said as he heard a message. "Someone from Ganoxa wants someone sent to assist in their science project."

"Hmm. Well, better send it up the line. Someone from Vector should go in and do it."

"All right. Here we go!"

=====

Some time later, a Science-class Nebulon-B Frigate exited hyperspace and headed into orbit over the planet. A chirpy voice was sent towards the scientific team.

"This is Dr. Rina Masaki! Whatever is happening on the planet really intruged me, so I'm bringing everything I could bring. Just show me where to land!" Rina Masaki beamed.

"Copy that Coredian vessel. Relaying coordinates of the LZ. Be careful of random energy spikes." the comms officer said.

Dr Helsing investigated where the strange light came out of. A hole. A hole that led to the source he thought.

"Did we bring the airprobe."

"Uh let me see. Oh dear."

"What?"

"Sir it seems to be damaged."

"I see. I guess we have to do it the old fashion way."

Helsing tied the climbing rope to his belt, and hammered down a small spike into the stone floor. He threaded the spike and tied it. "You two hold this rope and slowly, slowly mind your, lower me down this hole."

"Yes sir."

In no time flat, a shuttle flew out from the science vessel, dodged an energy spike and landed at the coordinates. Wasting no time, Dr. Masaki and her exasperated boyfriend Jimmy lept out of the shuttle, along with an astromech. They had on their persons every conceivable sensor Vector had and some that weren't public. There was also an astromech that rolled down the ramp, to provide backup and a second opinion. Soon, the threesome reached the camp.

"Oy! You!" She yelled at a random person. "Where's your leader?"

"Dr Helsing is inside the dome with his team. Currently we are digging out the elevator shaft so we can reach him. We should have it done in the next 30 minutes." Sargent Lewinski said.

Dr. Helsing was lowered inch by inch down the hole. A flashlight was rigged on his helmet as he looked down the hole. Still no ground? he thought.

"How much rope we have left?"

"About 100 feet."

"Okay keep lowering."

"30 minutes? We'll do it in five!" Rina Masaki grinned. "After all, the Force is my ally!"

"Plus I'm carrying a disruptor." Jimmy said. "Show us the way."

Lewinski led the the three to the spot where the elevator was. Debris was everywhere. An Arm Slave was picking up the rubble and placing it to the side. Being careful not to let some of the stones fall to the lower level where the team was. "Alright Yuri, you can stop now. These people will do it faster."

"Alright."

"Just park it over there and stand guard."

The Arm Slave moved to the side and stood where Lewinski told the pilot to.

"Alright Miss, its all clear."

Rina and Jimmy focused on all the debris and began moving them out of the way to clear a path. It's definitely a lot quicker when you have a couple of Jedi around!

"Dr. Helsing! The elevator shaft is clearing up!"

"Good, now concentrate on me!"

"Oh right," the assistant continued to lower the rope.

Still nothing dammit! How deep is it!? Helsing thought.

Helsing decided to drop a rock he picked up from the ground earlier. It was 10 seconds before he heard a loud pang. "How much rope we have left?"

"About 90 feet."

"Barely enough."

Ninety feet later Helsing finally touch down on some ground, He looked everywhere with his flash light strange objects were everywhere. Some with lights. Control panels?

"90 feet." Rina mused. "You up for a little wall-jumping?"

"Yeah." Jimmy nodded. "What about Arten?"

The little R10 droid blatted out "Who the hell do you think I am?" in droid-speak and with an electronic huff, produced two small but powerful rockets and flew down into the shaft.

"Oh, that helps." Jimmy scratched his head sheepishly.

"Come on, you dense nerfherder." Rina chuckled and lept down into the shaft at an angle, catching the walls and jumping further.

"She's tough, but I love her anyway." Jimmy said and jumped after.

"Doctor. The Coredians have come down with their equipment," Assistan Noka said on her radio.

"Good. Tell them to bring their equipment down here. I think I found something very interest. Like some sort of engine or mechanical device."

Noka told another assistant to help the Coredian scientists.

"I am getting some unusual energy readings down here."

"Scanners are off the charts too, Rina!" Jimmy (http://pdk.broken-sunshine.net/intro_yuuri.jpg) exclaimed, scanning the area with the sensors. Arten was whistling wildly in the same tone of 'voice'.

"Wow, this definitely was worth the trip." Rina (http://rpgcafe.net/Chrono_Trigger_-_Lucca.jpg) grinned, looking at her multispectrum scanner. She looked up at the leader of the science group. "So, you're Dr. Helsing. Rina Masaki, PhD in Advanced Quantum Mechanics. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too Rina. Call me James," Helsing walked over to the stones with glowing orbs. "This must be the control system."

Suddenly a voice could be heard throughout the room. "Welcome to the Creation Engine room. A device used to pull creation energy into this space."
CoreWorlds
02-11-2007, 01:15
"Creation energy?" Rina asked, giddy at the prospect of a new energy source. "What is that?"
Communistic Govts
02-11-2007, 01:29
The voice started again. "The scientists here have worked on this project for a century. It is said that the engine somehow pulls energy from imaginary number space, or dimension, and reverts it into realspace. Special shielding was required to hold the energy in realspace as no known material or electromagnetic shielding was able to withstand it. Space-time displacement shields."
CoreWorlds
02-11-2007, 01:52
"Hmm. Interesting. Most interesting..." Rina said. "Just how powerful are we talking about?"
Communistic Govts
02-11-2007, 15:15
"Well from the power readings I got from the energy spikes, which I believe is the creation energy in itself, it was registered at Magnitude 2. The way we measure energy is taking the amount of energy a Sol size star emits in on microsecond, then for each level we multiply that by one thousand. Maybe a more concentrated energy 'beam' will be more powerful." Helsing said.
CoreWorlds
02-11-2007, 17:30
"Putting all that energy into a beam...a cannon of some kind. A Creation Cannon." Rina grinned widely. "Sounds like we have an incredible new energy source."

05-11-2007, 17:01
"It may be speculation, but it may be that the Milokeenians were indeed trying to create such device," Helsing grabbed his radio, "Keitaro!"

Yes sir?

"Is the transport ready?"

We are loading the instruments now sir.

"Good."

The helipad with the instruments came down the charred shaft. Helsing watched it land and immediately grabbed the equipment. He set them up all over the room. "These will make a detailed scan of the device from all angles."
CoreWorlds
05-11-2007, 23:06
"Uh huh. While you do that, I'll be making scans on every scale, from the tiny to the tachyonic." Rina said, flipping a switch on her scanner. It warbled a bit, then hummed the 'Jurassic Park' theme as it began scanning the device.
Communistic Govts
20-11-2007, 19:12
The scan was completed and Helsing looked over the schematics (http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a287/GeneralZhukov3333/?action=view&current=CreationEngineDormant.jpg) of the device.

"Interesting it would seem that the orbs are used to power the device to kickstart it. Sort of like a automobile's engine but on a more complex scale."

Helsing analyzed the control system. "Now I wonder where this thing gets that type of energy we just saw."
CoreWorlds
21-11-2007, 04:28
"Well, all I can say is that it's not like any type of energy I've seen before." Rina said, after several scans with her equipment. "It's even more exotic than the Kythons, and that's saying something."
Communistic Govts
28-11-2007, 00:37
"Did your droid scan the mechanisms of the device?" asked Helsing, "if so then we should be able to duplicate it and test it on a deserted planet."
CoreWorlds
29-11-2007, 02:10
"Did you, Arten?" Rina asked.

":What do you take me for, an idiot?:" The droid asked irritably. ":Yes, I scanned the mechanisms.:"

"He says he scanned it." Rina nodded. "Let's begin the next phase."

A month after the investigation the team had made a smaller version of the creation engine. This version would be powered by 100 Palladium Cold Fusion reactors to kickstart the machine to pull the energy from the 'i' dimension. Imaginary number space. The energy jolts from the other engine that Helsing study was powerful enough to destroy a battleship if unsheilded. After studying the device for months, trying to reverse engineer it, their creation engine was ready. "Preparing for test of the creation engine."

"In 3. 2. 1. Mark."

The engine began to rumble the generators were at full output. The kickstart process had been engaged. Instantly a massive beam of energy was launched out, but it became unstable. Soon the machine began to be blocked out by a bluish light the massive energy emitting out. "Cut off the power. Cut it off!" Helsing yelled.

The energy began to dissipate revealing a crater underneath the engine. "I guess we need that special kind of shielding that AI told us about."

Helsing looked at the assistant. "You think?"

"I believe it said something of a space time displacement sheilding, maybe some sort of dimensional shielding of some sort to keep the properties of this extra dimensional energy at bay. Of course this is just a rambling of a scholar. Hehe" Helsing said.
