Twilight Days Rebellion Scenario

RP Goals

IC Thread:
http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=541983

The IC thread is most certainly open to a few others, which would certainly make it even more interesting and fit the story if multiple countries wanted the region or to aid in its reconstruction / breakdown! We might have a rush for Berlin scenario, where people are trying to be the first into the capital or just territorial claims etc, there are many possibilities in how you help me shape the plot and indeed the end resulting country. It may be one that serves you, it might be a splintered country, never the same again, it might be a democracy or dictatorship. The war will decide who owns what and how the country will be molded in the future.

Thanks to anyone who joins and I hope we all enjoy the ride. What to expect, anything and everything. Hopefully a long ongoing RP with as much or as little as you wish to contribute.

Background information.
Note if you read the IC thread you'll also see more details.

The Twilight region is a largely mountainous region with many lush forests and valleys housing its population centers. Its been a long disputed region with messy borders and one which has had several wars fought over its sovereignty. The main reason for the fighting is the over abundance of natural resources located in its many mountains, as well as the more peaceful powers wishing to take prudent steps and reinforce the like minded citizens within twilight and thus deny foreign influence so close to their borders, however old feuds also drive some countries to consider Twilight their land and thus formal borders have never really been established. Its an extensively multicultural region, due to the many countries bordering it.

Previous treaties:

The Union Representation Treaty, established 3 Years ago.

A largely accepted treaty to ensure peace in the region, not really respected by many of the main powers however due to the collective dislike of three main points.

1, The commitment not to harvest Twilights Natural resources, which in some countries eyes is a complete waste
2, Nations being seen as abandoning people to outside influences the countries ideology doesn't necessarily agree with.
3, The growing radical rebel movement so close to their countries borders.

However this treaty did install a representative government, which although merely a puppet of other countries, did seem to keep the peace. The recent public assassination of several key government figures however has thrown the country over the edge into chaos.

The Establishment of Universal Borders of Twilight. established 25 Years ago.

This divided the region up into established borders, with some nations feeling they got a fair deal, population centers, natural resources etc. However some countries felt hard done by and thus the treaty never really gained international legitimacy.

Main Cities and their previous identities before the rebellion.

You should understand with the limited space in the country, due to the large mountain ranges, most population centers are overcrowded and huge, rather than small and scattered. Also the CBTF decided to give each city a new identity to signify the change in power, this is privately largely unaccepted but being enforced harshly anyway.

Delta, formerly Sangretta. Population 500 thousand. The capital and located in the center of the country. Although a large and developed city, its not the biggest city by far in the Twilight region. Heavily surrounded by a blanket of lush forests, the people are the most loyal to the rebels cause.

Trin, formerly Sato. Population 1 Million. The main industrial base of the country and located in the west. Many of the countries poorer classes call Trin their home and much of the regions production and industry is located here. Support for the rebellion is quite low, heavily surrounded by and indeed partially on a mountain range.

Mkan, formerly Hjor. Population 1.5 Million. The largest city in the twilight region, renamed after the CBTF's self styled leader. Close to a river and partially surrounded by forests, the loyalty of the population to the rebellion is low as the seat of the former Representative Union government was here. Its located in the South of the region.

Jlari, formerly Lano. Population 750 thousand. A city with a large poor population but several powerful ruling families, civil injustice is rife here as are conflicting interests, loyalty to the rebellion is fairly high because its enforced by several key ruling families, however some powerful and largely untouchable figures oppose the rebellion. Its also located in the center of the region, east of the capital.

CBTF Military Command and control - Currently at an Unknown location but considered a critical strategic target.

CBTF Media Installations - One is located in Trin and One is Currently at an Unknown location but also considered a critical strategic target.

CBTF Regional Command Facilities - There are several smaller cell command facilities scattered throughout the country, these are hastily cobbled together and often poorly run centers of command for individual units
or cells, commanded by a loyal CBTF regional cell commander. Its widely considered there is one per 1,000 soldiers on the ground.

There are three operational airfields and no ports into the country.

1 Minor airport in Delta, under rebel control.
1 Minor airport in a small town called Halari, in the north of the country, not currently under rebel control.
1 Major airport in Mkan, under rebel control.

There are around 15 minor towns of note of varying sizes.

North - Halari, Jinn, Falmor Hill, Il el Jinn
South - Dcutta, Onilavan, Jinni, Yvona
East - Jalari, Il el Morai, Il el Lara, Dnona
West - Falari, Halari-Jinnia, Icutta

Characters of Note,
Aside from CBTF personnel, please use any characters you feel relevant in your posts or add to this list.

Mathew Williams - Former Representative Union President, currently in hiding, believed to be in the south of the country. A weak puppet for other world powers but dedicated to peace in the region.

Il el Alara - The former minister of internal security in the region, a stern and unforgiving man, some believe him responsible for many atrocities himself carried out in the name of stamping out the rebellion. He is blamed for much of the common peoples support for the rebellion. Believe to be in hiding in the east of the country. He assumed power over the countries national guard after the assassination of the cabinet.

Jalon Mkan - CBTF General and Commander in chief, outspoken and ideologically driven. Many see him as a megalomaniac, others as a source of inspiration for their radical beliefs, others as a danger to all around him.

Cell Commander Harrack - A ruthless CBTF guerrilla fighter and renown rebel leader, tactically brilliant and a sure asset or threat to take note of. His personal courage inspires loyalty in men who might otherwise doubt their orders.

Jill Sanders - Independent News Network Reporter, covering the crises as it unfolds, a daring and often unpredictable women, able to get the inside scoop wherever it may be.

Harry Price - Independent News Network Editor, responsible for running the station. A quiet man, working behind the scenes and usually not heard of.

Jlari City Local Politics Update:

Jinn-el Onan Local Community Leader, Jlari City

One of the most powerful figures in local politics and a devoutly atheist man of Eastern European descent, he is a communist at heart and wishes to see the state take a much greater role in social change and order.

2,000 Fanatical Supporters, well trained, loyal and well armed.

Sagcrat Jkan - Local Archbishop Jlari City

A devoutly Christian man of Arabic descent. Sagcrat Jkan wants a theocratic type state with the church having the real power within the country. Over 20,000 Supporters, around 4,000 lightly armed and some hired as mercenaries.

Both men are fierce rivals in Jlari City but have been kept at peace by the late government, however with social order breaking down, this is no longer a certainty.

Rebel Forces:

8,000 Regular Partisan fighters, organized into cells and armed with light weapons and equipment. Divided into 3 or more regional groups and yet smaller sells. Regular forces, with minimal training but a good grasp of the land, mountaineering equipment and veteran knowledge in how to use it. These men are fast and fearless but only good in short engagements.

5,000 reserve forces. Less experienced men or often boys, some 100 conscripts to just 10 regular soldiers and often brutally commanded out of fear rather than respect. These have a mixed array of weaponry, mostly small arms with some fixed weapon emplacements present.

The CBTF generals first regiment, 1000 men. The elite guard of the CBTF and their hardcore fighters, loyal to the last man and the cause.

Conscript Regiments - Unknown, growing daily. Due to the ongoing wars, the large amount of small arms in circulation, the ruthlessness of the regime and the fear of the populace make this number swell constantly. Est 5,000 - 20,000 barely trained conscripts.

National Guard Forces: (Anti Rebel loyalists)

Generally speaking they are better armed and trained than the rebels but are on the back foot, it is possible rebels will defect to the national guard if the government can be reestablished.

3rd Union Regiment. 1,000 Men. The most intact of the national guard regiments, its current status regrouping in the north east of the country.

25th Mountaineers - 250 Men A unit with extensive experience of the mountain and fighting within them but sadly one that suffered the most defections to the rebellion.

7th Union Regiment - 1,500 Men. The remaining national guard forces have begun to reorganize into the 7th regiment, they are extremely disorganized however and command and control, is a problem as these regiments integrate into one another.
