The Adu system was the last of the sleeper ship colonized systems. However, it was sufficiently developed with a sizable navy. The navy, which had recently undergone FTL reconstruction was on higher alert as a ship arrived from the home system bearing the news that aliens were discovered and that hostile ones may be in the vicinity it was inthis state of increased readiness that a unfortunate event happened.
[edge of the Adu system]
The FNS Writing was patrolling the outer system. The ship, previously in a relaxed state, quickly became active as its weapons were powered up and its engines fired at full military thrust. The reason for this increase in activty was the finding of a small artificial thermal signature traveling just outside of the system. The thermal signature was of an unknown configuration and the Writing quickly activated its spatial compressor-decompresser engines that propelled it at speeds above c.
In a flash of light the small frigate appeared near the unknown ship. However, the ship was a frieghter. The captain, thinking it was an advance scout for an invasion fleet, ordered his ship to open fire on the relatively unprotected ship. Soon whit hot slugs were shot at the other ship. The slugs moved at 3% of the speed of light and quickly crossed the distance between the ships.
The white hot slugs impacted the unalert ships and quickly tore two holes straight through the ship. The freighter than erupted in a brilliant antimatter explosion that lasted the smallest portion of a second as the entire ship was vaporised.

Several hours’ later Federation Central command:
And older man sat back in his chair looking over the reports of missing a freighter in sector gamma seventeen, his eyes panned the paper thin holographic computer in front of him as he sat back on is leather like chair. He sighed and stood up throwing the hand held computer to his metallic desk, he went through two massive doors that whooshed open in front of him wandering down a carpeted ornately decorated hall stopping at a door labeled General Gorge Carvel Jr , he held his rough hand out and pressed the flashing holographic button, the door bell rang throughout his decorated office, the doors opened as Carvel waved his hand over a sensor .
He said with a hard commanding voice “Come in”
The man walked in, he had a Lt. Col rank pin on both sides of his collar he stood at attention and saluted to the general in front of him. He said in a professional and disciplined voice “Sir we have another report of a ship gone MIA at sector Gamma seventeen, no records were sent or readings from the ship before it was lost”
The general sighed and put his hands on his desk folding them together as his blue eyes peered at the young and eager officer he said with a commanding yet friendly voice. “At ease, this is the fourth Freighter we have lost there, enough is enough I want you to send a group of scouts in to the system”
He went back to listing to some classical music pressing a button with his hand , and turning a game of star ball, he could see players floating and jumping around in an anti gravity stadium. He was Almost immersed in to it .
The younger officer nodded resting a bit turning away and walking out, the general sat back sighing his hands now placed on his armrests. The officer continued down the hall passing other personnel who were actually off duty it was late the sun was going down and the sky over New Earth was a reddish orange tone, fading away in to dark blue, countless massive glimmering spires of metal and glass went for miles upon the landscape of new Washington Central command was located in a bunch of mountains overlooking the massive city. The Officer wandered back in to his office sitting down on his chair the white florescent lights began to fizzle on as the light failed around the defense center.

He turned on his work computer gently placing his palm on the recondition panel so it could sample his DNA and turn the machine on, the screen flickered on and he placed another hand on the key board starting to move his fingers about the holographic glassy board he accessed available fleet databases and chose the closest fleet to begin a scouting operation.

He opened a channel to the fleet admirals office. The screen flicked on with a rear admiral a young one with brown eyes pale skin and blonde hai he sat back on his chair and said “Rear admiral Breen here”
The Lt. Col sighed and said “This is Lt Colonel Robins of the Federation central command you can check my codes if you wish they have been sent with this transmission.

General carvel has ordered me to pass on a scouting mission to your fleet while of course you may not use your entire fleet you must provide at least 6 ships and several transports , I have set you to scout sector gamma seventeen for your mission, we have lost 4 transport craft there as of late. We need to find out what’s going on, Robinson out.”

The rear admiral nodded, the screen shut off and Breen leant back on his leather like chair, he looked around his large office onboard of the UTS Middletown, it was utilitarian, but ornately decorated at the same time. He stood up and walked out of two doors on to the bridge of his Lexington class cruiser he looked around at his directly interfaced comrades and sat on his chair a wire running down form the back of his neck almost instantly connecting him to the rest of the crew, the gravity belt went over him like a wash of fuzziness. The entire fleet got the orders in a split second.

Outside around the large cruiser six ships began forming up around it. Several Ordos class destroyers a few Ticonderoga class missile cruisers, swift strike frigates and an additional Lexington class all made up the six ship detachment several transports also moved behind the large and ominous fleet.
That shimmered gently out in to the void of space.

Breen had looked around to his helm officer and nodded, silently a command floated from him at light speed to his helms men, the UTS Middletown Jumped in to coaxial space, followed by the other ships in the fleet jumping one by one in to an energy vortex. Several moments passed the fleet dropped out of jump just outside of the system, the large ominous ships floated over the small asteroids in the ort cloud glimmering and shimmering as the sun light from the star hit their hulls.

Breen smiled he waved his hand and looked over to his tactical officer who began scanning and his helm officer who instantly got a command to move the ships forward, the fleet began flowing in to the system gently and ominously rumbling in to it.

Admiral Albert Rell (yes ill stick to earth names from now on those other names are too confusing and too hard to make up) sat at his desk looking over a stack of paper work. He had a headache as he looked at the stack of paper work resulting from the continuing missions against the local pirates and the unknown ships that always passed at the edge of the system from time to time.
"So much technology and yet all these papers have be be signed" he thought. However, just as he was about to take another sheet off the top a nameless ensign entered the room. He had a frantic look about him and said, "I apoligise for the intrusion but a large number of unknown ships were detected" Immediately the wiery admiral (Yea ill make the nation some lost human colony or something) jumped up. He grabbed his coat and headed to the control center.
He walked down the softly lit hallways. There was not natural lights in the facility and the lighting was designed to ease the stress of living in a deep, underground bunker.
Soon he entered the command room. The command room was filled with numerous transperant displays with tekkies sitting by them. All these screens were arranged in rings around the center of the room, a large holographic display of the system. This hologram currently showed the locations of all planets, minor planets, and astronomical objects withing scanning range of the planets and ships int he system along with the extrapolated places of those not currently in scanning range. The system had one M class planet, the second out from the sun, with the inner three planets being terrestrail. just outside of these planets was a large asteroid belt with three other large gas giants and smaller asteroid belts beyond the inner belt of minor planets. much further than this was the Oort cloud.
The hologram also showed the positions of all ships, orbital facilities, and unidentified objects detected by the system sensors. At the very edge of the system were numerous yellow dots, the color designating unidentified ships. The admiral quickly moved over next to a tekkie at the "Information Analysis" station. Quietly, as to not desturb the others in the room, he said "do we have any information on the unknown ships?"
The tekkie replied, "all we know is that thermal sensors detected them just appearing in the Oort cloud and moving in. They are of an unknown design being of neither miltiary, pirate, or civilian design. The are currently en route to the inner system."
The admiral then just stood silently before talking again saying, "what is the nearest ship?"
"The Repulse battlegroup is currently the closest. They are currently on a anti-pirate mission in the outermost gas giant's atmosphere."
"re-route that battlegroup to intercept the enemy ships but tell them to be careful. WE will be out of good radio range so tell the captain to use his discretion in making decisions," said the admrial.
"Yes, sir" The tekkie passed the message on to a nearby comm station and soon the blue blips on the holographic system map moved. slowly at first as they struggled to break free of the gas giant's gravity but soon they emerged into space. Once in space they quickly blinked out and in just in front of the enemy ships. Now all the admiral could do was wait.
[FNS Repulse, Repulse battlegroup]
The repulse was a large fleet carrier carrying numerous drone fighters. It formed the center of the repulse battlegroup. Its commander was rear admiral Gates. The admiral sat in the chair above the captain of the ship and watched the streaks of light as the ship moved at warp 1. The ships soon emerged from the FTL drive (though it was technically at c). In front of them stood six large ships of a unknown type. The bridge crew could do nothing but stare at the large ships full of weapons with visible engines. soon however the admiral ordered the sending of a communication of all radio frequencies (no subspace)
To unknown ships
From FNS Repulse
This is the Repulse your ships are in violation of firehelper territory.
Withdraw immediately. This is your first and last warning.
If you refuse to leave we will use your right to defend our territorial holdings.
You have one hour to comply and leave the system.
The admiral worried that the aliens wouldn't understand so in preparation for a possible conflict he ordered the arming of all weapons and all crew to go to general quarters. A loud alarm began sounding followed by a message from the captain saying "This is not a drill, This is not a drill, General quarters, General quarters, all hands man your battle stations." Soon a panel of lights changed from green to red as the resounding sounds of bulkheads and stations reporting ready occurred throughout the ship.

[Alpha Station, Marcus Asteroid belt]
Alpha Station was one of the largest stations in the entire system. The reason for this being that it was the hub for all jump gate travel within the system. The station controlled weather jump gates were on or off and managed the quick movement of ships. Now it was the gathering place for two battle groups that were ordered to hold there in the event that a battle broke out with the unknowns at the edge of the system. However, even if they were to leave it would take several minutes to traverse the system meaning that until then the Repulse battle group was on their own.

The middle town loomed In space, its sister ships floating next to it . Breen sat back in his leather like chair his hands on the armrests, he looked over to the tactical and Communications officer and nodded quickly, suddenly a reply was sent .
This is the Terran Federation cruiser UTS middle town, we have come to investigate losses of life and transport craft that has occurred in this area, we will not leave until our investigation is concluded

He leaned forward, the Federation taskforce already had its weapons and shield systems online, they loomed over the smaller Firehelper ships ominously shimmering as they gently moved forward In to the inner system .
Breen had sent a signal to the tactical officer to keep weapons trained on the foreign ships, Neutron laser cannons, neutron blasters, and Ion cannons all active and ready to strike out. Mean while fighter craft began launching from Ship bays, hundreds of Thunderbolt Vipers shrieked out from launch bays.
Captain Adrian longhorn sat back in his cockpit looking outside in to the dark void of space, his eyes panning the view around him as his small fighter lead a torrent of craft in a defensive flyby of a massive ship the stars being obstructed by massive cruisers. His hands were moving around the control surfaces, the fighter craft banking slightly forward and to the left.

Time would only tell what will happen Adrian had been through many wars, Breen was a fresh peace time admiral who will have his skills tested in battle for the first time, he had just graduated To Rear admiral from the Admiral training corps In new Washington . For now everyone would wait, wait and see what would happen.

The brdige awaited a message to the message sent out. Soon it came. It dissapointed the admiral as he wanted to resolve this peacefuly. Now, though, he had to carry out his orders.
"Ensign tell all ships to prepare for combat." He turned to another ensign. "Launch all drones and intercept the enemy fighters." Then he opened a channel to the fleet and said "People of the Firehelper Space Fleet, we must now assert our right to self defence. Remember these people are for sure superior to our technology. Thus we must hold them off long enough for the scattered fleets of the system to engage and defeat this enemy. Remember we may outnumber them, but technology is always a factor. Now for the people of Firehelper and the Glory of the nation fight!"
By then the numerous drones had already emerged from the five linear catapults and streamed toward the enemy fighters at maximum thrust. The other ships of the fleet had also charged all their weapons and prepared to fire. The admiral stood by the flare launch button that was the signal for the fleet to fire. with a quiet whisper of fire he pressed the button. A white hot flare came out and the fleet fired.
The first shots from the fleet were numerous dense projectiles from the MAC cannons on the escort ships. These projectiles were white hot, almost blue. They sped toward the enemy ships at a fairly large percentage of the speed of light. These projectiles were followed by around 1,000 missiles 200 of which are nuclear (at least 1 mt). The ships then fired their plasma weapons. The one that stood out most was a thin line of compressed plasma. This plasma was drawn directly from the fusion reactors and sped toward the enemy ship with stunning speed.. The plasma glowed white hot as it rushed onward. Numeros "bolts" were launched too. These weaker weapons still delt significant damage and also managed to glow white hot.
The fighters moved forward with stunning speed as the rushed to engage the enemy fighters. The drones, like the ships were pitch black and reflected no light. The layer that created this also acted as a heat dissipater increasing resistance against directed energy weapons.
Now the admiral watched the swarms of ships and white dots symbolising weapons speed toward the enemy fleet. Now all he could do was hope as the main fleet gathered

[Alpha Station, Marcus Asteroid belt]
Numerous fleets had gathered at Alpha station, these ships would attempt to hold off any incursion into the system from this stratigic point, the center of all intra system superluminal travel with the help of warp initiator/sustainer rings that enabled quick effective travel through the system at speeds not normally possible with a singular warp drive.
The ships gathered in a lose formation around the station allowing for the estimated explosions of multi-gigaton weaponry. There were numerous battleships and carriers here and should the enemy fleet pass the meating fleet, as should be as evidenced by their size and thermal signature, the gathered fleet would attempt to stop the incursion.

The fleet was still a few light seconds away; fighters split and banked each side. Adrian griped his control surface and moved his fighter at high speeds banking left and right with the rest of his squadron, missiles were already armed. Adrian had come through the comns with a commanding and loud vice.

“All right we have zeros incoming all vipers arm space to space missiles , engage maneuvers alpha omega, at vector one niner eight fiver. All vipers engage I repeat engage!”

Suddenly the stream of fighters gunned it, their engines pushing the craft through the stream of plasma closing in on the enemies. Adrian had pressed the s fire button as he homed in on one drone; suddenly two missiles flew from the wings of his viper streaking through space cutting it with a yellow glow. This was repeated as other fighters did the same firing missile after missiles that vectored and homed in on their targets, Adrian also shot off his 35 mm chain guns. Bolts of red flew from the sides of his thunderbolt filling space with slugs going more than 50,000 km/s. the thunder bolts maneuvered, and did barrel roles as they moved from side to side vectoring. A few of the thunderbolts we’re damaged and a few lost in the initial attack.
Breen growled slamming his hands on the armrest of his chair; he looked over to the tactical officer with a nod, suddenly the batteries of the federation ships opened with a fury. Thousands of neutron blaster bolts and slashing crackling beams of neutron energy filled the sky, shells flew from the massive main guns at capital ships, and they flew out with streams of red and blue following them as they went toward the enemy.
Missiles followed the beam and shell attack they flew out of Vertical launch tubes filling ships with thousands of fiery launches streams of yellow energy flew behind the missiles as they moved towards the ships, flying through thick neutron and shell fire. Thousands upon thousands of missiles flew out of the capital ships.
Breen was rather in experienced but he remembered his training, and his down loads from more experienced commanders now it was time to test this, he looked over to his tactical officer starting to speak and send signals at the same time with his mind.
“All ships form in to a wedge formation target all ion cannons and weapons on those capital ships and advance!”
he massive ominously large ships complied hastily they began moving towards a wedge as they fired, the fighters we’re still skirmishing with the drones. The massive ships had over lapping arcs of fire with a wedge formation. Blue crackling beams of death flew form ion cannons missiles neutron beams and shells followed behind as the ships advanced at speed.

Thousands of interceptor systems fired puffin missiles towards the drones; they created an interlinked web of energy fire to keep projectiles from hitting the ships, thousands of smaller twin auto cannons fired and filled the space with projectiles.
Breen had signed he watched as the shields of his capital ships took the hits of the plasma weapons and nukes it wasn’t enough to phase them however , though some of the frigates did suffer from some minor power fluctuations.
Each of the missiles fired from the federation ships were in the gigaton to teraton range with yield, the Lexington was equipped with many VL tubes sprayed across its upper lower and sides, other energy weapons were also numerous. The main guns of the Lexington fired out 5 ton shells to 85% the speed of light.

The middle town was not the newest Lexington class built it was in block two, It was built with upgraded weapon systems from block one, especially more capabilities to carry various shells and missiles as well as more powerful neutron cannons. The ship itself was powerful its sister ships were mixed from block ones and block twos.

Breen had gotten command of the fleet from an older commander named Santana, it had just been formed under suntans command and organized when he passed away in a mission several months later, next on the docket was the newly promoted to vice admiral breen and from then on here he is,in a war...

Breen sat back looking out in the now energy filled space his hands grasping the armrest, his eyes panned the cornucopia of colors. The dark lifeless void of space had been lit up by a battle that would change a nation forever.

The drones faired fairly well against the enemy fighters though they were lighter armed and slightly slower than the more advanced enemy fighters. Still with their anti-missile systems it took a great many missiles to overwhelm one drone. As such the majority of destructions came from the slugs that moved at .17 (actually .166 but whatever). It took only several slugs in quick succession to destroy the armor of the drones. Still with no life support and other bulky unneeded equipment the majority of the drones were a advanced form of space armor with a special gell that acted as air in old terrestrial spaced armor thus reducing the speed of the projectiles. The drones armed their missiles and shot when possible. When they shot, bright blue exhaust came out as the anti-fighter missiles unleashed their miniaturized fusion engines. These engines would detonate in a 1-3kt explosion cause by the loss of containment triggered by a proximity/ IFF sensor.
The drones also fires blue slugs at .1 c in addition to the fighter's speed.

On board his ship Admiral Albert Rell looked out at the battle. The fighters were fairing well enough but the fleet wasn't. They had already lost 3 of the 20 ships to the enemy weapons fire. An ensign then called out "sections 3-6 are down on decks two and three due to power fluctuations cause by the enemy ship." The admiral was glad for the isolated local fusion reactors and their safety in loss of containment. But dead sections did nothing in battle.
"Send repair teams to try and reinitialize the reactor." the ensign game an affirmative signal before speaking again. "The subatomic particles of the ships hit destabilizes, it is apperantly caused by the enemy weapons." The admiral hit the arm rest of his chair before thinking "how are we supposed to fight an enemy with weapons that are still theoretical or in the earliest stage of development." he shook his head again.
The formation was colapasing as the combined power of power fluctuations and atomic destabilization overwhelmed the possible repairs made by nanobots, which could also do nothing against the radiation released by the neutron interactions. Ships exploded in brilliant naquadah enhanced fusion explosions. Still the rest fought on firing all avalible weapons, except now they all concentrated on the smallest ship since their weapons were having a small effect on it. It was hoped that the attacking force could be reduced at least one ship if the enemy fleet advanced into the system. Once again salvos of plasma beams, missiles, and shells launched and moved rapidly to the enemy ship. While many of these would be clocked by no means was one ship able to withstand the entirely of the assault brought upon it and at least some would have to go through. The holographic screen on the brdige showed the attack as it once again shook from another missile hit. Out side the ship countless invisible projectiles, small missiles and bright blue missiles couples with some invisible lasers shielded the ship from the majority of the missile attack but this screen was quickly slackening as the enemy ion cannons knocked out some of these PD systems. The future wasn't good for the fleet as it continued to delay the enemy fleet.
