Onboard Unity 2...things were not going well in the research and development center, yet another argument between a engineering drove and naval ship builder.
" Im telling you, thats completely wrong, it wont work. And even if it does, its never going to make sense, why don't we go down the plate route? "
" Your not even using logic here, your shield grids just aren't strong enough to withstand any of that a ship like that would encounter. You would be better off going down the de centrilzed route"
" Well SORRY we like to build ships like normal species do, I can see the logic in your ships, really. But it doesn't work for what we do! "
A queen was seen walking through the door, the look on her face was one of annoyance.

The queen sits back watching the argument for another few seconds before interjecting. "Increase power to your structural integrity field by 12%. Add a structural truss here..." she pointed to a space near the middle of the ship. "and it should be fine." she walked on towards the borg embassy, these silly humans... they'll be much more efficient when they move past their emotions.

The ship engineer simply snickered a bit " Sorry, but that truss cant go there, the reactor goes there. And to be honest, we dont need it at all. You might be ahead of us as far as sheilding goes, but remember we're about 200 years ahead of you as far as alloys and reactor systems go. Anyway. I have an idea! Snice your ahead of us as far as weapons go, and we're ahead of you well, everything else. We could put our resources together, and think up some very interesting things. "
Suddenly a transmission came over the speakers " Hey, just to let you guys know, the admiral is doing one of those stupid exploration missions again, he'll be back eventually.
Out the window a large crusier jumped into FLT.

The queen stopped for a moment. "You may be more advanced in alloys. But if you do not place a support truss there you will develop microfractures as soon as it leaves the atmosphere." the queen tapped her eye "I'm scanning it right now, it's got a crystalline flaw. Check it yourself."
"As for a joint project. if you are serious, come with me to the embassy so we can discuss it." and with that the queen was off.

" tust me, the reactor goes they're we'll have all the support we'll need anyways. Im interested in a joint project, I'll have the head of engineering meet you down there in half an hour hey cool, look what the computer says ' No Flaws Detected ' "
Half an hour later the head of engineering for the entire ECF Navy arrvied at the embassy. He was stunned for a split second by what the embassy looked like, very borg like.
" That is cool very cool. So Im just gonna cut to the chase because apprantly you guys dont like small talk very much, I know you dont know much about our technlogy but your interested in a joint project as well, what did you have in mind exactly? "

The queen sitting before the engeneering head was a much smaller queen. She was assimilated from a species that normally doesn't even reach her height. Borg genetic engeneering changed that of course.
"Well this would be similar to the Omega super-dreadnaught project we engaged in about 500 years ago. We develop a new ship class, using technologies from both our powers. We'll need to make the interior modular so that it can be adapted to borg or human needs... but other then that it would be fairly simple."
The queen taped a few keys on her terminal and a computer moniter lowered from the ceiling. "We're experimenting with a new concept in hyper miniaturization. By carrying object data in a moleclear level we can make our equipment MUCH smaller." The screen showed a demonstar class planet-killer. "We want to retire the Demonstar class, by making a smaller cheaper ship that can carry a Demonstar class superlaser. But doing so will require massive computation power and energy requirements..."

" Hmm, superlasers are just simple weapons that convert the target into heat, correct me if Im wrong, we've never really considered those because of the size requirments of them. However, the yeild of such a weapon would be incredible. Computer, display Win32.profile PC200 prototype "
The small projecter he brought with him displayed a imagage of a ECF warship, a type the borg had never seen before. It looked interesting, about a kilometer in length and about 70meters thick, compltely flat on both side, with several aerias on the corners and massive engines on the back, it was also a triangle.
The borg queen looked silently for a moment.
" Im sure your wondering that that is, could a superlaser be adapater to this type of configuration, I cant tell you much about that ship at the moment, but I can tell you its top speed is nearly 240million ly/hour "

The queen thought for one moment, before interfacing with the table. The computer moniter over the table displayed the same ship, slowly it began to grow a borg-y block on the side of it, with a nasty looking claw. "This would do it. Our superlasers work by on-site replicating massive amounts of anti-protons followed by a proton stream. Essentially creating enough of a matter/antimatter explosion to engulf a planet. It's equal to a "deathstar" superlaser in yield. it just works differently. I say we take this ship class to push both of our technologies to their absolute leading edge. We are looking to expand our torpeado-redirecting and beam-weapon inversion shielding capabilities."

" Hmm, that practicer ship class will not work for what your planning, its not built to handle that kind of strain, and most of the manuverbilty would be lost. However, We do have some older ships that are much more durable than the ship seen here, they've been out of service for a long time, but they're much much strong, we can have one brought here and we'll be able to refit and get a prototype working. The orginal systems are still intact, so we'd have enough power to get small scale protoypes working. I can have it here in 3 hours. "

" Well, they already can tow a small moon, Im not going to put up a brand new ship for testing like this however, the other ship is already en route to this station, Im having the dry dock prepped for it, send your engineering drones down there, so they can be prepared for the ship arriving, in the meantime, what other ideas did you have in mind? "We'll throw in long-range torpeado artillery... We'll require the highest yeild torpeado weapons you can provide for that. As for our end, we're working on trilithium weapons... Anti-fusion devices that can knock out a star. And we have a Parallel timeline drive system allowing scanning and travel to parallel timelines. That would make an excellent escape system."

" Very nice, I suggest we start on a new type of sheilding system next, but lets get a prototype super laser working "
An old ECF crusier slipped into the dry dock, its weapons outdated, drive systems and all were barely working, but the reactor worked just fine.
The queen and engineer beemed onto the bridge, still dark.
" Computer, bring all systems online! "
A shower of sparks and small explsions came from all the consoles and breaker panels.
" yeah...we can fix that. "
She saw the disasporving look on the queens face.
" Oh c'mon, this thing has been sitting in mothballs snice before you guys got wiped, its not state of the art, but it will make a perfect testbed for this new weapon, I suggest you order your drones to get to work, I already have engineers on the way to the main reactor to bring it up to spec "

The queen nodded and borg transporters activated shortly therafter bringing engeneering and utility drones onto the ship. The cargo hold of the ship was quickly converted into a makeshift borg habitat as the drones concentrated on the nose of the ship and to adding a borg-style addition for more proper borg facilities.

" Ok, bring the reactor up to 100% and hold "
The old ships reactor was holding at 100% and putting out more power than 9 borg tacical cubes, and it was on a crusier!
The engineer turned a queen, " so, think that'll be enough power? We can bring the number 2 reactor online.
" How long will these modifications take? One of your engineer drones told me it should be about 3 days to make everything workable up in the front, meanwhile my engineering team is making this thing safe to fly in. We're gonna be in here for about 3 weeks. And because its a borg-human venture, hope ya like flying with buttons! "
THe ship was slowly transforming into the protoype weapon.
" Also, those nebula geneartors, how effective are they?

"Mobile generators can smokescreen about an AU per every 10 seconds. Planitary generators can smokescreen much faster. Maximum range 10 lightyears." The queen looked at the power outputs. "I'm going to bring onboard a few omega generators. They're very small and would make good backup power."

" Great, lets get this bitch underway in about 2 hours, now, do you have any small non populated systems we might be able to test this thing at? Im sure your drones can finish the work on the way. "
2 hours later.... the ship pulled out of dry dock under its own power, with some borg looking attachments, it jumped into FTL and begin heading for the queens desinated planet.
Travling at 130ly/hour wasnt bad for a 300 year old ship.
The queen looked very annoyed that she had to fly a ship using a touch screen.
" Oh come on, its not that hard. "

"We will need to test the trilithum weapons on a number of systems as well as the superlaser... But I believe that there are enough worthless systems to suit our needs."
The drones continued work adding the borg "Minicube" to the vessel. That took only about 8 hours with borg manufacturing techniques. Then they concentrated on the nose of the ship they placed small emitters along a ring just behind the nose, when the superlaser is preparing to fire they will aim its beam.

The old ECF ship was aiming at a small planet, about as big as venus from the well known sol system. It looked stupid with all the cables and borg wiring all over it, but that didnt matter.
The bridge crew started prepping the ship.
Bridge officers chimed in one after another...
" Reactor at 100% "
" Capcacitors Charged "
" Focusing Lense aimed "
" All Go "
" All Systems Go "
" Fire "
The ship shuddred very hard, suddently emergancy lights went off, main power went offline. The main reactor stopped dead in its tracks. Somthing had gone horribly wrong.
" Sir, ship running off battery power at the moment, we have no power. "
The engineer looked at the ships plan in on the viewscreen, the Main Reactor and borg sections of the ship were flashing red.
The engineered slammed down on the comm, " WHAT THE HELL HAPPANED?! Engineering report! "
Down in engineering all hell had broken loose, drones and engineers were running around putting out fires and attemping to seal coolant leaks. The head engineer and 2nd queen on the shop were reviewing the computer data.
" Well captain it looks like we had a huge back surge of power, which triggered the reactor shutdown. To prevent the ship from blowing up.
The engineer on the bridge looked at the queen " find out what the hell went wrong up front, that almost killed us! "

The engineer was not crossed at all, he even understood why it happened, " Its OK, really. We'll give it another try. As soon as the support ship finishes transferring some coolant to the reactor, we lost ours, Im sure a bunch of drones are dead by now, they were the ones trying to contain it. My engineer warned them to stop. Oh well, all stations, prepare for a 2nd test shot! "
Again, all the bridge operators begun to bring all systems up to 100% power, they begin to chime off again, and hopefully this time it wouldn't be a disaster.
" This is main engineering, reactor up to 100% and holding at 2100 Celcuius "
" Tactical here, focusing lense calibrated and aimed "
" Opps here, no other ships in the area "
" Collective Reporting in, All systems at 100% "
" This is helm, we are in perfect position, engines standing by "
" Fire "
A huge green beam shot out of the small hole in front of the ship, impacting the planet with a huge force. The planets surface begin to vaporize, oceans begin to evaporate. Slowly the planet started to fracture, and break apart in a huge fireball of magma. Which very quickly cooled.
The human crew looked very happy, the engineer was very happy. " So, a successful test! I think it went well "
