Yanitarian Veterans Memorial and Museum

Yanitaria

In accordance with our promise, The USSY is creating a memorial to commemorate the brave soldiers, foreign or domestic, that died defending Yanitaria. There will also be a museum dedicated to artifacts and art donated by foreign countries.

The Yanitarian Veteran's Memorial and Museum

The Veterans memorial is a resplendent post-modern glass building. It is mostly round, and on top of it is a walled garden

In the center of the garden, a 10 meter tall statue on a 5 meter pedestal. The statue is marble, and of a soldier of indeterminate origin, holding an FN2000 rifle high above his head in victory, and in the right hand an olive branch. The right shoulder of the solder is wounded, and a subtle water fountain lets a stream of water flow down his arm, and onto the olive branch. The water then drips off, and into his discarded helmet.

From four different angles, the soldier seems to look slightly different. From directly in front, he looks like a Yanitarian. From the other angles, he seems to be more Stoklomolvian, Angaoran, or Orbathian.

At night, he is illuminated by 4 spot lights. Behind the statue, there were four flags, each with a spotlight of it's own. They were arranged in the order that the nations had entered the war, with the exception of Yanitaria, which was at the far left.

The Museum below is now open to tourists.

Additions:

Reflection Garden:
An indoor garden on the top floor. The ceiling is the highest in the building, at 30 feet, and birds fly around unrestricted.

There is a reflecting pond, 20ftX40ft, made of marble. At the front is a small bench area, surrounded by pines. In the middle of this area is a marble pedestal with a golden plaque that says "Supreme Elect Miles Standish", who donated five million to the museum.

Trivia: The dirt on the floor is about 10 feet deep, and the area is only accessible by the stairs. Originally a storage area, lined with shelves, it is now the only entrance to the memorial gardens on the roof. The memorial garden can only be accessed via the spiral staircase at the center of the indoor garden.

The Lord Kele Nickolai Fund HQ
The Lord Kele Nickolai Fund is a yearly contest that gives away 100,000,000 in Kelnoriem Dollars every year to the children of veterans and those killed in the war. The contest awards twenty children per catagory, with the catagories being Science, Prose, Poetry, Music, and Art

The staff are all volunteer workers, and the main event is held in the Presidential Palace every October 29th, and is mainly meant to remind people of the horrors of war.

Lord Kele Nickolai's portrait is in the museum on the same floor as the HQ. People are allowed to enter the lobby of the HQ to donate money to the fund.

Oh, gosh, no, not that many. In fact, for the 200,000 people lost in Stoklomolvi I was just gonna put up something describing that there were 200,000 names there.

Free to foreign dignitaries, veterans, and their families. Citizens of the countries that aided Yanitaria only pay 1 Denarii (.65 USD, currently).

All others pay a mere 2 Denarii. The government subsidizes museums in Yanitaria, as they fall under the Education Bureau.

Yanitaria
27-10-2007, 05:31
"About 2.16 Denarii per Nokka, sir, so about $9720 Denarii. Quite a sum, if I might add, the average Yanitarian makes about half that in a year. That's saying something, as we have a small rich-poor divide."

Standish decided he had a few hours before the Yanitarian Summit and would thus go to the new Yanitarian Veterans Memorial and Museum and walked up to the desk, declared who he was and was let through into the Museum. It saddened him to think that one day, hopefully soon he would be opening a museum just like this. He circled the giant statue many times taking in its beauty. He then proceeded to the memorial where all the names of the soldiers were inscribed. He reached out and touched it, "Aaa." He pulled back quickly. He felt the pain and anguish of 200,000 souls rip through his body. He slumped to his knees and prayed for the deceased. On his way out he stopped at the information desk and got the contact number for the museum. When he got back to the Conference Hall, having entered the back way to avoid the media, he pulled out his check book.

To Yanitaria,

I find you cause of a Veterans Memorial and Museum, an honorable one. To that effect I wish to donate 1,000,000,000 Kelnoriem Dollars, out of my own pocket, not that of my nations, mind you, to this fine establishment. I do this because I feel that awareness is the first step in prevention of wars. If people know how catastrophic they are, than they will, hopefully, take more consideration when deciding whether to fight or not.

The curator of the museum finally had a heart attack. To Lord Kele Nickolai, his wife wrote "You gave him a heart attack. Happy?"

Upon the appointment of a new curator, he immediately deposited the funds in a New Brittonian bank at 10% interest. Once the year's interest came in, he would start the Lord Kele Nickolai Fund, a contest where the children of the veterans and those killed in the war would compete in the fields of Science, Prose, Poetry, Music, and Art. The top twenty in each catagory will win 1,000,000 Kelnoriem Dollars, tax free.

In addition, the Lord Kele Nickolai Fund will be headquatered in the YVMM. A room will be dedicated to this task.

And as a sign of good thanks, Lord Kele Nickolai's portrait will be painted, and hung in the museum for all to see.

To Yanitaria,

It has come to my attention that you are holding one of my bishops in prison. I must request that he be released immediately. He is innocent, though I have no knowledge of your legal system, I assume this is a reason for someone to be released. Why was he even arrested? I can not see one of my Bishops doing anything that would be considered anywhere near illegal. I DEMAND answers now! If something is not done to rectify the situation, I will have to consider other "options." Thank you, and have a nice day.
