Red Tide2

IC: State Square, Ariga, TSRT

There were throngs of people, waving banners and shouting, screaming, crying, yelling for one thing... more food, better food, better wages, more freedoms, and so-on. It was unprecedented in Red Tidean History. And it wasnt just in this city, in other major cities such as Crig and Narmonovgrad massive protests were taking place. Hundreds of millions of people were gathering all over the country.

And it wasnt just protests, weapons factories had too shut down as their workers went on strikes. Tech-Com Corporation Security Personnel, rather then keeping people under control of their employers joined the strikers.

From the observation deck and behind a bullet proof window stood the leader of the Totalitarian State, General-Secretary Narmonov. He stared with great contempt at he crowds... and envy at how this had occured right under his nose without the Intellegince-Commissarat noticing. He turned too the man next too him, Defense General Federov Murmansk.

"How long until your troops arrive?" He asked, "I doubt if the Intellegince-Commissarat moved now, that any of the agents would do anything more then anger the crowd."

"The first mechanized divisions are moving into the city and should be setting up around the crowds perimeters within the hour." Murmansk said.

Narmonov lit his 1940's style tabacco pipe and looked over the throng of humanity once again with distaste.

"Good, we shall show these traitors who they are dealing with." Narmonov said.

There was a moments pause as Narmonov scanned the crowd, trying too find the leaders. It was then he saw something that didnt seem too belong.

"Where did that van come from?" He asked, taking out his tabacco pipe and stabbing it towards the van parked on the otherside of State Square.

Murmansk peered at the van, before nodding, "I see your point, should I have it inspected?"

Narmonov turned his head towards Murmansk and nodded.

"As quickly as possible." He said, "Who knows what the van carries." And with that, he began too turn his head back.

He would not make it before he was turned into little more then radioactive dust.

Two kilometers away, a few moments later

Agent-P-423121 noticed that his black jumpsuit was burned into his skin. A few moments ago, he had been monitoring the situation without a care, now it felt like every nerve in his body was screaming. Which, for all he knew, it was. He was also no longer Agent-P-423121, as his control collar had been destroyed in the giant blast that had rocked the area.

He sat up painfully and looked around through the dust and blackness. Something was wrong, and deep in his gut, he knew what was wrong.

Ten kilometers away, Intellegince-Commissarat HQ, half a minute later

Commissarat-General Herevoch Netrovich was still watching the rising mushroom cloud in horror when it struck him.

'My god! The General-Secretary! The Council of Ministers!'

He whirled around and screamed at his aide.

"We need too tell people! What are you standing there for! We need to form up! We need too... too..." But his aide had already scurried out of the room.

The radio chatter in Ariga had ceased for up too forty-five seconds after the nuclear blast, then it began again, all of it was military and Intellegince-Commissarat radio. The odd thing was, instead of all of it being secure, about 40% of it wasnt... and they were all saying the same thing:

There had been a nuclear detonation at the State Square... the majority of the Council of Ministers and the General-Secretary were confirmed being there at the time of the blast. They were, a good number of the unsecured radio messages reported, suspected dead.

Red Tide had just been dealt a harsh blow... and it was going too get worse.

OOC: This is the beginning of a Civil War. I dont want any interventions just yet, just acknowledgements of the above and 'WTF!' reactions from various governments.

The Glorious Republic of Leafanistan

This turn of events is truly unexpected. Be told, the Red Tidean Government shall have the support of the Glorious Republic. We cannot forget their sacrifice for us in multiple conflicts. Our people look on in the hopes of peace.

[END]

But the reality was much different. The government might claim official support due to blood ties, something strongly ingrained in Leafanistani culture. The people themselves had long know of the Totalitarian State's injustices and popular support had dropped to an all time low to 4% via telephone polls.

Internet polls registered -9% due to voter error, margin of error, and hacking. Protests erupted in the streets in support of the revolution, the internet had taken to calling it the 'Red Tide'.

Gilimonster
25-10-2007, 00:36
It has recently come to the attention of The Allied States of Gilimonster that a nuclear explosion has decimated State Square during anti government protests killing many members of the current regime. While we would like to see and end to the oppressive government of the Red Tide, this use of nuclear weapons is deplorable and our government can not support a revolution that intends to use such methods. The Allied States are however willing to sit down with the leaders of this movement and discuss their goals. If the revolutionaries are willing not to use nuclear weapons and they have intentions of forming a free society then we are willing to support the revolution. As the Allied States is a new nation, having just emerged from a revolution itself, fighting a government not dissimilar to the Red Tide. As such, while we cannot offer many troops we can offer a great expertise in urban guerrilla warfare and funding for the movement. If however the revolutionaries are disorganized and end up becoming like the Bolsheviks in the soviet union, then the Allied States will remain neutral providing whatever aid they can to the people of red tide.

Ministry of State

The Vetalian government condemns this atrocious attack and wishes to reaffirm its support for the Red Tidean government in hunting down and destroying these rebels. The full economic might of our nation is at your disposal to bring these rebels to justice.

Regards,
Proconsul Eveginy Alabayev
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unlike the Leafanistanis, the Vetalian people supported the Red Tide government, although hardly out of any love or admiration for the system. Of course they opposed the totalitarian controls such a state imposed on its people, valuing their own freedom as an inalienable right, but there were far stronger ties that went above such concerns:

There was money to be had in the Red Tide market, and these rebels threatened it with their actions. Democracy could be dealt with later...right now, there was more profit in the status quo.

OOC: LS: Due to Fordock's lack of response, I have to retcon that entire war.

IC: It only took a couple of days before realisation set in that pretty much the entirety of Red Tides central government had been annihilated. After the news of the nuclear explosion reached the rest of Red Tide(with surprising rapidity given the country it was in), the massive protests dispersed peacefully in a state of confusion.

Then came the sorting. The problem was, there was no clear line of succession. Red Tide is the perfect place for a single person too rule, as long as that person has the support of the Intellegince-Commissarat and the military. In normal circurmstances, the will of the deceased General-Secretary would have been read and a replacement(probably a family member or a favored Minister) would have taken the reigns.

Unfortuanantly, Narmonov's will was gone, vaporised with the atomic weapon that tore out the metaphorical center of Red Tide. There was only three members of the Council of Ministers, Vyolitov Nechariv, a iron-fisted buisness man who was the Minister of Economy, Bolivic Chevorov, the Chief of the Intelligence-Commissarat, and Vyacheslav Gromkyo, the Foreign Minister, were left alive. These three men all began laying claim to the post of General-Secretary within hours of the nuclear detonation.

But this wasnt just limited too the Ministers of the Government. Four Army Field Marshals, two Navy Grand Admirals, and a Air Force General all laid claim too the title of General-Secretary. A Intelligence-Commissarat General who also laid claim was quickly assassinated by the Chief of the IC.

The people who really mattered in this dispute, interestingly enough, were the various Majors and Colonels of Red Tidean regiments and battalions(and, in the case of the Navy, Captains and Commodores). As the lowest ranking men in the Militarynot under the influence of Hallucagenic Control Collars, these mens decisions too take their units would determine who had the most power.

But a person outside of the military and government was making his own moves. The CEO of the Tech-Com Corporation, Nylov Baskovik endorsed by the Board of Directors, declared himself the head of 'The Corporation of Red Tide'. However, the survival of the CEO was dubious, as he only had access too his Tech-Com Security Units, which numbered only about two million.

Absent in this power struggle were the people of Red Tide, who merely acted with indifference, their protests had not been too overthrow the State, but slowly reform it. Not knowing that had the nuclear attack not been carried out they would have been slaughtered, the people were prepared too accept whoever won the obviously coming Civil War... and brace to attempt too survive it.

Finally, suspiciously silent in all the commotion was the Red Tide Mafia and its mysterious leader, a man known only as Xenocide. There was not even a mention of the nuclear detonation in the various pirate broadcasts from the mostly-Red Tide Mafia controlled Mountain Provinces. However, numerous resource mines and Gulags in the Mountain Provinces began too experience 'communication difficulties' every so-often with the rest of Red Tide. The RTM was up too something...

Pretty soon, though, the sides narrowed down too the three ministers and the Tech-Com Corporation. The large Red Tidean nuclear and biological arsenal was soon rendered irrellevant as no one site had all the nessecary personnel loyal too any side. The operating orders for WMD sites were too go into lockdown and not come out until one side had won. Chemical weapons, however, were dispersed throughout units.

OOC2: And here are the sides:
Chief of Intellegince-Commissara Bolivic Chevorov: With the second smallest amount of military power but having the loyalty of the majority of the Intellegince-Commissarat and its vital intel resources. He is an experienced oppressor and very efficient at devising means to kill people.

Economic Minister Vyolitov Nechariv: With the second largest amount of military power, yet the smallest amount of Intellegince-Commissarat support, Nechariv is a industrialist, he would love nothing more then too fine tune the Red Tide industry into a self-sustaining machine. His economic experience is matched by only one other person.

Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Gromkyo: The one with the most support of the military and the second smallest support of the Intellegince-Commissarat. Vyacheslav was once suspected as the loyal heir too Narmonov and was simply waiting for him too die of old age. However, everything has become upset. He follows Narmonov closely in views and little would probably change if he came too power.

Chief Executive Officer Nylov Baskovik: With the weakest military force, Baskovik is in a bad position right now. His forces are more susceptible to propaganda then the other three men, due too their lack of Hallucagenic Control Technology. What Baskovik would actually do if he gained power is rather obscure. Although having economic experience rivaling Nechariv, he probably would not open Red Tide up too foreign investors as much... given that he has all the experienced personnel. Why he took up this challenge is beyond many.
Kroando
25-10-2007, 03:27
Greater Malthus City, Antartika

Grand Marshall Hektor Klague stepped out of the black hummer, tightening his black leather trench coat as the crisp white snow fell upon his shoulders. Kroandon snow was very unusual, for though it was white at the moment, it was often times black, due to the amount of polution in the skies above. "Fucking industrialists.", grumbled Klague as he began trudging up the seemingly endless steps of the Honvorg Iron&Arms. Korporation Headquarters, the massive sky scraper stretching through the cieling of fog several hundred meters above.

Followed by an enterague of armed soldiers in urban camo and gas mask, and similarly dressed advisors, Klague reached the entrance and stormed into the building, walking through the various security mechanisms around, sending them off into a blaring roar of sirens and red lights. Of course no one moved to stop him, for doing so would result in a horrific death, but there was quite the episode of confusion as the Grand Marshall stepped into the elevator and pressed some obscenely high number on the control panel.

Honvorg's Office

Klague stepped off the elevator and walked towards the massive glassed off office of Gordok Honvorg, the disgustingly overweight, obscenely wealthy horrifically perverted owner of the Honvorg Korporation. As one of the major five Korporations in Kroando, and the controlled of roughly 32% of the nations GDP, none could afford to ignore him, not even a Grand Marshall. Pushing open the glass doors with both hands, Klague stormed in with a look of determination, anger and frustration upon his face... a look rather common in Kroando.

As he walked through the room towards the Kapitalist's desk, he could only help but notice the various caged and chained up naked women... girls around the room. A look of disgust came over Klague's already disgusted face as he spoke. "What in the hell did I just drive half way across Greater Malthus for you fat, perveted sonofabitch?"

Honvorg's exhaled deeply, sighing in pleasure for several seconds before answering the Grand Marshall's question. "I don't suppose you've heard of the situation in Red Tide?", as he nearly moaned out his question, a young girl, probably no older than 17 or 18 crawled out from underneath the desk and attempted to scurry away. She made it no more than a few feet before Honvorg pulled a leash, jerking the girl back to his side.

"You disgust me...", grumbled Klague as he watched the altercation, not so much in pitty, but simply in contempt due to his off base yet seemingly Catholic sense of morality. "I have heard only that there is a civil war... yet there is no hint of socialism or communism... so we have no interest in the matter...", Klague paused, his look as angered as ever. "Is that what you dragged me down here for? To talk foriegn affairs?"

"You military men are so damned thick...", replied the stereotypical capitalist as he lit up a cigar. "Can you not see how much money there is to be made? Your intelligence friend here certainly can…”

From the adjacent room, Director of Kroandon Reconnisaince and Intelligence Assosiation [KRIA] Medus Korodok walked in, sipping on a glass of scotch. "Hello Hektor, hows the wife?", asked the older man with a evil smile upon his face.

"Fat and happy... as she was last week at your party Korodok. Now, if someone here does not explain to me what in the hell is going on, I'll have this building leveled with you both inside.", Klague, only 47 years old, barked his demands to the older men, promptly anwered by the KRIA Director.

"Marshall, please, there is no need to get upset... what Mr. Honvorg has to propose is actually rather beneficial... to us all.", Director Korodok sat down on the large couch, taking a drag of his cigar. "You see, this is a rare opportunity. A civil war in which it does not matter to us in the least who wins. A civil war in which the desire for weapons will be so great, none will be able to deny what we have to offer. A civil war in which we will back all sides, and profit at every corner."

Klague, calming down from his previous state of rage, turned to Korodok, still not in complete comprehension of the plan. "And what exactly, do I have to do with this?"

"We will need someone to move the weapons. This is a war zone... Honvorg does not control a fleet... and we dare not think moving ships full of weapons through Red Tidean Waters without considerable escort... you move the weapons, make sure they get to where they are supposed to go... and for that, you get 25% of the profit."

"40.", Klague responded, not negotiating, but rather correcting the Director on his misquoting of the Grand Marshall's share. Korodok looked to Honvorg whom nodded, knowing that if Klague would not deal, none of the other Grand Marshalls would, and that the Lord Protector would never send forces abroad over a matter of this size. After looking to the two men and silently confirming the deal, Klague nodded and walked out.

[Encrypted Message to the Heads of Each Faction]

This message is written with the intent to establish a business relationship regarding the civil war that is to come. Although we do wish to see you come to power, we primarily are concerned with the sale of military hardware and supplies to your side. Although Red Tide is known for it's vast Arms Manufacturing Industry, there is no doubt that these will come under heavy attack in the coming weeks, and that it will not be long before you are incapable of arming yourselves. I assure you that my associates are fully capable of providing whatever type of weaponry you may need in any quantity, provided they be paid for said products. We have enclosed a catalogue of weapons available, simply state quantities and types and we will begin sending them as soon as possible.

[Signed]
Medus Korodok
Director of Kroandon Reconnisaince and Intelligence Assosiation [KRIA]

Each message was sent in the tightest secrecy possible. No leader could know that Kroando would be selling to all sides... although it wouldn't really matter if they did.

[They are selling any RL weapon, weapon listed in Kro-Tech (in signature), and ammunition for any weapon around.]

General Resources Conglomerate

The shady corporate headquarters of the General Resources Conglomerate had a far different agenda from the government's; though they often crossed paths. They had tremendous sway in politics, foreign affairs, and the military just from how much of the military tech they controlled, a private security force larger than of the colony of Algeristan, and the fact they were the single largest grossing company in Leafanistan.

That is why, from the equally shady military retreat of Fort Peace, a series of conference calls were made to General Resources Conglomerate. Members of he Triumvirate Council, the head Executive of Leafanistan, the Senate, and the military were in attendance. Only the highest levels of Leafanistan's government were aware of these calls and what they meant. But the intent was obvious, to secure General Resources support and keep them on the path the government wanted.

Who knows what kind of political, military, social or economic agenda the GRC had, but it was good for the shareholders, and that was that.
