The Last of the Minbari [FT]

OOC:This is a bit of a comeback RP for me, seeing as I haven't for awhile. This is obviously based a bit off of Doctor Who, with a single Minbari and his time-travelling spaceship being the last Minbari in the universe. Don't be a fag and scream out about the temporal accord; I don't give a shit.

The Great War was over. The war between the Minbari and the Shadows finally ended, and it ended with not a whimper, but a bang. The War had spread across all of time and space; it ended in a horrific way, the extinction of the Minbari and the Shadows in the past, destroying their future. How I survived is still a mystery to me - no creature should be forced to go through the trials I have gone through.

The War was never meant to end there, in the void above Midiri. The Mothership, the Shadow method of moving through time and space materialized over Midiri as the first Minbari civilizations gathered in tribes. We knew what they wanted; They wanted to attack Midiri before the Minbari could develop, destroy it in the past so they will not have to fight in the future. They knew we would be here to defend it - we had patrols all across space and time in critical junctures in Minbari history, always lurking in the shadows (no pun intended). We could not risk being noticed and changing our own history, but the Shadows could. Their God-Emperor controlled something we only knew as a Paradox Machine, and it quite literally held the universe together against the collapsing pressures of an ontological paradox. As far as we knew, the only thing that kept the Shadows alive, that kept our universe from collapsing was that machine.

The Mothership was all that was the Shadows - everything that they had, everything Shadow across the whole of time and space existed in that ship, and my poor little destroyer Spectre was all that was in the path of them and the destruction of Midiri. They knew I was there. They could sense me, their worst enemy, a Minbari, but not just any Minbari. I am only known as The Hated One among the Shadows, but among the Minbari, my kin, I am known as The Master. I am responsible for the destruction of an entire Shadow fleet in Arcadia; I fought in the Battle of the Twin Moons. I have survived solely by fighting on the front lines, while many of my comrades have fled and been shot in the back for their reward. I am, well, was, simultaneously revered and hated among my people for my actions. I fought for my people, the survival of the Minbari species was my priority, and I stepped on anything that was in my way.

I materialized my ship into real space, and I hailed the Mothership. The God-Emperor himself responded to me, a bulk of twisting black sinews, deformed by the raw power of the Machine he (it?) was attached to. A massive silvery eye opened and stared at me, the hatred of a billion Shadows stared into my head and tried to drive me insane. "Stand aside, Minbari. Resisting is useless now." it said to me. The God-Emperor was a brilliant telepath among other things; I could see dozens of Minbari tending to the Machine or serving Shadow soldiers in that God's chamber.

"You know who I am."

"You are the Hated One, Minbari. You will be destroyed here, above your little rock of a planet. This is your punishment, you will watch your world burn and you will survive, this is my divine judgement. You will survive and Midiri will burn."

I did all I could to stop him. I opened up with every gun I had, but of course, it did nothing to the Mothership, and my destroyer, my beloved Spectre was swatted away in a single shot. I could see my homeworld clearly, the Shadows approaching it with all the grace of a snake preparing to devour it's foe. Help was not coming, I was alone and the Shadows were going to destroy my people, and then from there, the rest of Creation was going to be destroyed.

I did the only thing I could do - I knew I was covered by that great Machine now that the God-Emperor had chosen my punishment. I reactivated the last gun I had functioning, a planet-killing railgun, and did the only thing I could do, the thing that could overload the Machine and end the War.

I fired upon my home. My shot was clean and precise, and Midiri splintered and began to break apart as the Shadow Emperor screamed in my head. I knew what was going on… the machine was imploding. The God-Emperor had cut such a swath through time that the Machine was beginning to feel weary and overloaded, and the one thing that I could do to destroy the Shadows was to create a paradox that the Machine could no longer handle; I destroyed my home world, preventing my people from existing, but also preventing the Shadows from maturing to the level they did.

A bright light erupted from the world below and engulfed me, the Mothership, and the void surrounding. I heard the screams of a billion Shadows simultaneously in my head, and I was quite ready to die there in the paradox, condemned to nonexistance, worse than that, never-existance.

But I am alive, and my ship is repaired, but I am changed. I am a fixed point in time; I will exist for Eternity, until the stars finally burn out and the galaxies collapse.

I am here, wherever here is, but I am alone. I am the last Minbari in the universe. Wandering for eternity, time is no obstacle, neither is the vast nothingness of the Void.

I am now the Traveler, and my first stop, not even I know.
