Trade has doubled more than twice in the last month because of the recent war in haven, which still rages unabated at several fronts, and now at last the Government has allowed itself in a fashion to be drawn into giving an opinion, in a fairly vocal manner, having formed a new series of Trade Agreements with Doomingsland, Economy Minister Beckett Jalenza has stated “This is an important agreement between our two economies, one that will foster even more economic growth for both sides, the Novan economies strengths compliment their Doomani’s counterparts nicely. The only concerns amongst the government are the stepping up of Merchant Vessel construction, however with the passing last night of a new Civil Appropriations Directive, that will soon cease to be a factor, also to cut off any thoughts about the international community, we will not be moved by pressure on Strategic Agreements such as this, the propaganda drummed up by those jealous of the Doomani and have not encountered them without causing a diplomatic incident through their own ineptness deserve all the woe that betide them, Doomani culture is rich and welcoming and our Ambassador to them relays to us a depiction of a sensible yet religious society, indeed the supposed slaves are far better taken care of than the working classes of many of these nay-sayers who may as well be slaves.”
Public Opinion in large is as one with the Government it seems as Opinion Polls show that 82% Agree with the Government with 10% preferring to wait and see, the remaining abstaining, this is considered a promising sign by the Zrumtaven as it makes preparations for new ministerial elections for the Xotavriliate (Council of Ministers) initial polling in preparation has shown that by in large the people are happy with the status quo, though with Local Authority Minister Dneister Kimrels expected resignation due to health issues this winter looks to be an interesting time, (for further details see page 19) Only one other interesting thing to note about the situation is a heightened military presence has been reported surrounding conveys and port facilities.
On a related note, the Government has announced the discharge of 7.9 Million Assorted Prisoners of war from the last 10 years to the Doomani in a high profile scheme meant to rehabilitate them into useful members of a society, rehabilitation efforts over the years have proven that the individuals in question, several British Londinian, Kravenic, Zeonic and assorted Corporate Alliance member state soldiers have been extremely violent and the cost of housing them within Zhovae Systems has been increasing at a steady rate as wear and tear has necessitated major upgrades to the facilities, a situation decried by many in the Justice Ministry owing to the nigh non-existant crime rate of the state.
Government Officials have refused to comment on this however observers have seen heightened activity as several Zhovae devices have been transferred with the Prisonders still engaged to numerous ports and a Heightened Civil Enforcer presence has been noted in the affected cities should any failures occur, of interesting note was the plcid nature of the prisoners during transport, and several groups expressed concern into this, however due to the relative unknown public knowledge of the operation of a Zhovae system this may be a normal effect.
