¹ Narrvish is the national language; Sanli is officially recognised as a minority language.
Etymology
The name Narrven derives from the Narr or Nar, a Scaderganian ethnic group and the suffix *ven, meaning 'land of', in turn from the word venda; 'land'.
History
Geography
Narrven is the second-largest country on Leonteus at 601,628 square kilometres. The country is bisected down the centre by the Rhan River (split in to the Donå) and the Malnebardskedjen range, from which the Rhan springs. The country is geologically inactive. There is less area in the eastern part of the country that is suitable for farming, but the Rhan Triangle, flanked by the Rhan and the Donå, is very fertile land. The east also lies upon the Scaderganian Plain, forming a natural highway to the sea, dotted with numerous streams and small rivers, marshlands and bogs. The Malnebardskedjen form a natural windbreak against the freezing southerly winds, lending the western part of the country more area that is climatically suitable for farmland.

Language
Narrvish (Narrvish: Närrsk) is a South ??? language spoken predominantly in Narrven, parts of Solekopno and [ ... ]. Along with other South ??? languages, Närrvsk is descendant of Old Sylse.
Standard Närrsk is the national language that evolved from Southern Närrsk in the 15th century and is now well-established. While distinct regional varieties, descendant from older rural dialects, still exist, the spoken and written language is uniform and standardised. These varieties are, however, also mutually intelligible with Standard Närrsk.
The standard word order is Subject Verb Object, but changes to Verb Subject Object when asking a question, and can also be changed to indicate stress certain key words or phrases. In Närrsk, there are two genders (as well as a 'neutral' gender, when referring to a combination of objects that have both male and female genders), there is an extensive use of grammatical case, the language is moderately inflected and there is a distinction between plural and singular. Närrsk has a comparatively large vowel inventory.
Government and politics
Narrven is a constitutional monarchy, with much of the power in the hands of the King. The office of the Chancellor exists to provide a link between the Parlämantan (Parliament) and the Krena (formal title of the office of the King), by means of heading the Parliament, a body responsible to the people that elect the representatives that make it up. The King can veto any action taken by the Parliament, but if the vote was more than two-thirds in favour, the subject is included in a referenda that circulates throughout the nation. If the action then passes, the King has no power to reject it again. The King initiates most legislative activity.
The Parliament is elected on a proportional-vote basis, with each party receiving a number of seats correspondent to the percentage of votes gathered. The representatives are divided into two houses: the Käkomöte and the Riksdag. The members of the Käkomöte are elected on the basis of votes gathered per region, while the Riksdag is elected on the basis of votes gathered per county. The Käkomöte sets the federal budget, deals with laws directly affecting regional activities (but not strictly county activities), votes on constitutional changes and holds a suspensive veto, which may be circumvented by passing the law again. If the Käkomöte vetoes the law again, the King is able to weigh in his final opinion. The Käkomöte forms committees which administrate federal-level organs of the government.
From the Riksdag the Chancellor is elected. Aside from this, the Riksdag also has the power to initiate legislation and both veto and initiate constitutional change.
Military
The Krägsmavten (Narrvish Armed Forces) is a government agency, reporting to the Ministry of Defence and is responsible for the defence of the country, including borders and internal conflicts. The Armed Forces are divided in to three branches: the Royal Navy (Kranåmarina), Narrvish Army (Armán) and the Mansåvapar, the last of which is responsible for patrolling highways and keeping the peace within settlements.
Currently, the Armán's total available manpower is estimated at 800,000, including support elements, while the Narrvish Ship Registry lists the Kranåmarina as having 268 fighting ships. The amount of the gross domestic product spent on the military is around 1.95%, making the Narrvish Armed Forces' budget approximately 125 million kr [ed. note: ~$1.284 bn in 2006 USD].
Economy
Narrven is an post-Industrial Revolution society, with an estimated Gross Domestic Product of $6.43 billion at a per-capita rate of $1,567. The country is rich in natural resources, predominantly gas and oil, but also in iron, titanium, zirconium, gold, tin, tungsten, and bauxite. Molybdenum and antimony may also be included among the list of Narrven's ores, although they are rarer. Forests, mostly concentrated in the north-west, supply the country with abundant timber, while mines in central Narrven provide coal. Only a low population (expected to rise rapidly within the next few years, due to improved working conditions and economic opportunity) prevents an efficient extraction of these resources.
Narrven imposes three types of taxes: tariffs on specific foreign goods, income tax and manufacturing tax. The first varies widely, depending on the good or service in question, but income and manufacturing taxes have stayed relatively stable, at roughly 6% and 11%, respectively.
