Hadrianople (AP): Maximillien Thenardier, Skamania and Duloc's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs has declared that as of today, the "Thenardier Doctrine" is to be implemented. This doctrine is supportive of diplomatic relations, trade and embassy exchanges with other nations but supports non-intervention and rejects "foreign entanglements". In his speech, Mr. Thenardier said the following:

"In the wars of other nations, in matters relating to themselves, we do not find it proper to intervene. It is only when our interests are attacked or when our nation is invaded that we shall make preparations for our defense."

When asked about joining alliances, Mr. Thenardier summed up his views with the following: "peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none."

Mr. Thenardier then said to the journalists present at the press conference that Skamania and Duloc's military would focus, according to what he said he had been told, focus on "total defense".

He finished the press conference by saying that the King and the Conseil du Roi (King's Council), along with other members of the government have pledged their support to this new doctrine. Despite this, it is said that intelligence shall watch foreign conflicts regardless of what doctrines are believed in by the government.

(Basically, I am declaring my nation non-interventionist. Feel free to post your thoughts or whatever.)

OOC: Quite a good policy to have. Has kept Otagia intact for quite a long while (only had one war in the past, and it was really just a spat over a colony). Probably should expect an IC post later about trade or embassies or some such.

Oh, and when does Max start waltzing and swiping silverware? ;)

OOC- Washington Farewell address? Well quoted I did some research on that and American Non-interventionism.

Fordock why not agreeing with your policy understands a perverse wisdom behind it and you are not abusing your citizens nor doing anything strong enough to make it worth violating international sovereignty. We wish to establish friendly trade and embassies though.

OOC: I would not mind opening diplomatic relations (trade/embassies) with you, Otagia. Fordock, I was inspired by American non-intervention but made some changes to the quote I have. Also, we would not mind establish friendly trade and embassies with your nation.
