Ritona:
A colony of humans with a strong warrior culture, apparently influenced by Akavir. They are famed for their skill with the sword and bow, and, although lacking in a deep-water navy, their short-range boats are quite formidable, including, in recent years, strange iron-plated contraptions refered to as 'turtle ships'.
Pop: 2,400,000

Geography

Ritonia is made up of around a hundred various sized islands in a crescent moon shape. It is said that the islands were created when the ocean water level rose, covering up most of the land mass. This makes the surrounding waters quite dangerous for large ships. The islands are quite forested, often very hilly. The southern islands are more mountainous than the rest.

Climate

Ritonia is generally warm. Winters are warmer than most but still bring quite a bit of snow. The southern islands are generally colder and have more snow. The northern islands are warmer.

Natural Disasters

Ritonia sometimes suffer from flooding and serious storms.

History

The Beginning - It is not known how Ritonia came to be.

The Nomadic Age - When humans first arrived on the island they were a Nomadic people. They traveled around the island they landed on, hunting deer, wolves and a few other creatures that have since become extinct. Eventually, food supply dwindled and the groups of people were forced to settle.

The Warlord Age - These groups of people needed guidance. The people were often ruled over by a warlord. He was often an intelligent man, a village elder that people wanted to listen too. Due to lack of food, the population began to decrease and diseases spread.

The Regalus Age - The Regalus age began when a man, Sung Po spread a message throughout all the towns and villages to allow him to become Emperor. He offered many things, money, power, protection and an answer to the dwindling food supply. Most warlords accepted his offer. Those that didn't were either revolted against or beaten by other warlords. With Regalus in control he introduced different types of farming and better fishing techniques. The food crisis ended. He introduced laws, a constitution, taxes and an army.

The Advancing Age - During the advancing age, people became more intelligent and orderly. A strong military was developed and the descendants of Sung Po ruled with iron fists. They could be compared to dictators rather than leaders

Present - Things have just started to cool down. Many advancements have been made and the Ritonia economy is still booming, however, things are more calm. There is less emphasis on making money.

Culture

Ritonians have lived in tightly knit villages and towns for thousands of years. Ritonians enjoy living close to each other. Very rarely will you find a Ritonian that lives by themselves. Often times, Ritonians will live with many family members and/or friends.

Ritonians enjoy singing, dancing, storytelling and fishing. There are many famous Ritonia tales told around the world such as that of the Great Sea Dragon that supposedly roams the Ritonian coast.

Ritonians practice a fanatical devotion to certain species.

Dragons - Dragons are considered gods. There is a shrine to dragons in every village. Each night, a sacrifice is left on the room. Often times, in the morning, it is gone. If it remains, it is considered bad luck for the village. Certain parts of dragons are used in armor or many magical devices.

Tigers - Tigers are looked at almost as highly as dragons. They are highly respected and it is believed that only Ritonians can communicate with them. Their pelts, claws, eyes and teeth are also used in many different uses.

Monkeys - Although monkeys are not considered a god, they are known as the friend of Ritonia. They earned this reputation for helping many Ritonians out in times of need. A monkey skull and tail are prized possesions.

*Note: Any object used from the creatures above is taken from a creature dying of natural causes. To kil one of these creatures is punishable by torture and then death.

Government

Ritonia has been headed by a member of the Sung Po family for hundreds of years. The Emperor that is in power appoints warlords to look over areas. These warlords are often direct descendents of the warlords that first allowed Sung Po to become Emperor.

The Ritonian military is broken into two elements. The Royal Ritonian Guard, for land warfare and the Royal Ritonian Navy for sea warfare. All soldiers are highly trained and looked highly upon in society.

Nice. Perhaps a small alliance can be made between Morrowind and your nation...though I doubt it. Heh.

Looks good. Akaviri culture is a sort of modified version of Japanese culture, in case you havent played the Elder Scrolls games.
You should give more specific numbers for your military, though, and a bit of general polishing/fleshing out wouldnt hurt either.

Well, actually, I checked out your fact book an saw that your elves enjoy raiding and plundering. Seeing as I'm right beside your nation, I would make an excellent target. So how about an RP about your elves raiding a few islands. If you don't mind, It would give me a chance to show one of my nonhuman characters, sort of the opposite of your Dark Elves.

I'm sorry, I haven't played those games. I can change the fact book to be more ''japanese'' if you want?

An alliance, Thrashia? I am sure Taros can accommodate you. After all, aside from Yokuda who built a wall to keep us out, we have been raiding our neighbors for ages now. And after some changes made recently, we do have boats...of a kind >->, which can allow me to contact you or vice versa.

Up to you Thrashia, although I don't know how you deal with daemons or undead. =P

Nice factbook, by the way, Orbath. A little sparse, but hey, get the bones done now and then work up on it.

Thanks, that was actually what I wanted to do. I haven't had much time to work on it but I will continue to add to it as I get time. Any recommendations?
