The Armed Republic surprised the world today with an announcement of an official alliance with Doomingsland. This comes after several days of secret talks between Aurum Doman and Doomani officials. The terms of the alliance include a mutual defense pact, a 30% discount for Aurum Domus on any military products, and opening up of trade between the countries. This new trade deal includes cheap Doomani oil and Doomani cars. The Doomani electronic market has also been opened up to Aurum Domus and is expected to flourish due to Aurum Domus' strong IT sector. Doomingsland has also been given access to the lucrative gold and precious gem trade that has flourished in Aurum Domus since the first conquests of other countries.
This alliance was expected to be condemned by other UFAN nations due to the slave trade in Doomingsland.

Official Kampferian Statement
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w107/imdmill/kampferianseal.jpg
Kampfers does not take any alliance lightly, and this is no exception. To be frrank, we regard this as a direct slap in the face to Kampfers, but more importantly, to the United Federation of Allied Nations. The trust we once held in the nation of Aurum Domus has been shattered, and it is only through many trials that such trust can be rebuilt. I would like to remind the leaders of Aurum Domus of the charter (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13100315&postcount=1) which they agreed to when they were admitted into the United Federation of Allied Nations. The third key aim of the Federation is
To further the advancement of human rights throughout the world by the combined efforts of the UFAN member states.
By combining in such an alliance with the Doomani, widely noted slave traders, you undermine the very essence of this document. You indirectly strike against the Theeb Accords (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=536111), a internationally reknowned anti slavery document, which so blatantly states that
No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.
The Doomani not only own slaves, but they also are one of the foremost slave traders in the world today.
Last, but not least, the nation of Doomingsland recently slaughtered millions of innocent Kahnistani's (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13114822&postcount=177), whom were allied to many United Federation of Allied Nations members through a distinct organisation known as COMECON-SD. My memory does not always serve me well, but I do firmly remember you being a member of this organisation, and thus allied to a nation whose people now lay massacred in a gross violation of United Federation of Allied Nation standards by the nation whom you now call yourself allied too.
Let this rest on your minds. From this point foward, until the alliance with Doomingsland is terminated, the nation of Aurum Domus will be placed on probation from the United Federation of Allied Nations. Take this how you will, but rememeber the stipulations that the Charter places on you under these circumstances.
With a concerned heart and mind,
Fuhrer Richtoff

Demonstration Outside of Aurum Domus Embassy & Military Base
Page 2 New Theeb Discoverer
In response to the Aurum Domus Governments decsion to offically announce an Alliance with the state of Doomingsland it is estimated a collective 10,000 Protestors took to the streets in New Theeb and Piper Lake in what was a peaceful demonstration. The Protests within New Theeb were organised and led by Student Leaders from New Theeb University. The Protest consisted of a march from the University to the Vetakan Diplomatic Embassy Complex on the outskirts of New Theeb although not permitted to enter the Complex protestors blocked all access roads and renewed their calls to the Aurum Domus Govenment to void the Alliance with the worlds biggest slaver with immediate affect.
The Protest ended peacefully with no arrests however Vetakan Riot Police Units and a Vetakan Defence Force Armoured Infantry Regiment of 3,000 Personnel was deployed. Further protests occured outside of the Aurum Domus military base which is 4 miles south of Piper Lake the protest their was organised by Piper Lake College of Art Students and was peaceful again Vetakan Riot Police Units and a Vetakan Defence Force Armoured Infantry Regiment of 3,000 Personnel was deployed to ensure the Base remainded fully operational.
The Government has yet to announce a fomal condemnation of the Aurum Domus for its Alliance. However political commentators believe that behind closed doors the Government is working to pressure the Aurum Domus Leadership. The United Federation of Allied Nations responded by placing Aurum Domus upon probation. It is expected the issue will be raised to President Pearce during Presidents Questions today. Micheal Parker of the Opposition demanded that Vetaka uphold its obligations to UFAN and the Theeb Accords and punish Aurum. Parker went on to demand that Vetaka protect its reputation and if required cut all ties with Aurum Domus.

Dear Sir,
Regarding the editorial from the February 3rd issue about the Doomani-Aurum Doman Alliance and its impact on Vetalian businesses (Editor's note: See "From Doomingsland, With Love", p.26), we would like to address some of the claims stated in the article as we feel they do not accurately represent the position of the Vetalian business community on the issue.
1. The Vetalian business community does have an interest in increasing trade with the Doomani and with building up our economic commitments despite the ongoing risk of armed conflict. However, we have stated repeatedly that our companies have both voluntarily and legally upheld the commitments of the Theeb Accords and our obligations under the UFAN. Portraying it as a "no-holds-barred lobbying war" completely hides the extensive, multipartisan efforts our organization has made to educate the public on the issue and to generate real dialog on this pressing issue.
2. The Chamber of Commerce has spent 50 million rubles over the past five years lobbying for increased trade opportunities with Doomingsland and more freedom to operate in the country. However, this lobbying has never involved efforts to withdraw from the UFAN or Theeb Accords at any time, for any reason. If you recall, the Chamber of Commerce was a strong supporter of the Accords as well as membership in the UFAN, both in 2019 under Praetor Chernomyrdin and again in 2034 under Emperor Valerian. The suggestion that our lobbying efforts are "legal bribes" meant to "influence the Senate in to approving hastily drafted, premature free-trade policies with one of the worst human-rights violators" ignores the fact that these funds have been used not to buy votes but to host multiple conferences and think-tank projects to examine the issue from a neutral standpoint.
3. The October 22nd, 2025 agreement, known as the Petrovsk Ethical Investment Accord, is binding for all members of the Vetalian Chamber of Commerce and governs actions undertaken by members in states that are classified as violators of political, economic, and human rights. So far, we have initiated no fewer than 1,399 inquiries in to violations of the accords with significant settlements or outright dismissal from the organization in cases where the company has been found guilty. Our investigations have been certified as legitimate by multiple human-rights advocacy groups and are transparent throughout the process. Again, the claim that the "PEIA, while a noble step in the right direction for private-sector accountability, is ultimately toothless and will be unable to realistically contain the abuses, intentional or unintentional, that will inevitably occur at the hands of Vetalian companies in Doomingsland" is demonstrably false.
Given that 97% of the investment and trade volume involved with the Doomani is conducted by signatories to the PEIA, and that losing Chamber of Commerce membership is tantamount to self-destruction for large firms, we feel your suggestion that our companies' interest in their country is tantamount to our condoning of slavery or other human rights abuses is underhanded at best and libelous at worst. If you are looking for blood money, we suggest criticizing those firms that are not signatories to the PEIA and who operate without consequence in many of the world's most dangerous and repressive nations.
Regards,
Executive Chairman Pyotr Chaikov, Vetalian Chamber of Commerce

General Secretary Charles D. Lind honestly didn't know whether to laugh or cry at this situation now. On the one hand, the fact that several members of the Federation had purchased arms from Doomingsland or allies thereof was no surprise; and so long as it wasn't mentioned or boasted of, hadn't been deemed worth provoking the sort of diplomatic storm asking too much would've occasioned. But on the other, not asking had apparently brought such as well; quite the dilemma. "So honey," he asked of his wife, and the UFAN Secretary General as it just so happened, on the other end of the secure phone line. "Your ideas on how to back up Richtoff here?"
That she would was not a question. The alliance had to put a foot down somewhere, even if it couldn't deign to bar business with Doomingsland entirely without provoking yet worse controversy; or at least more enduring even if not worse in intensity perhaps. "I think so. I'll keep it to the point, and more saddened than anything really." Which was actually how she felt, in fact.
The Ennuisian-Vetakan crisis seemed to be tying the Federation's hands left and right, as events in Zanski had already proven. Now, with protection from the founding members looking iffy due to that Ennuisian threat overshadowing their own homelands; and with all sorts of rumors flying around about possible threats to the Federation and its members from as many quarters as there were mouths to utter the speculation, one might almost forgive High General Oron for trying to remove one from his immediate table. Almost. "I should get to it now. Bye dear." Christine knew it wasn't going to get any easier putting it off, so best not to.
"Agreed. See you later." They'd have to land briefly to refuel the aircraft and tankers soon, during which he hoped to have some time together with her at last for the first time in months. Charles didn't know if another chance would ever come again, given how bad things could conceivably get if what was expected to happen between Vetaka and Mer des Ennuis did. For now, however, all he could do now was watch as she handled yet another out-of-the-blue crisis that threatened to make matters worse yet; surely someone up there must be laughing themselves to cramps from the joke being played on him and his nation, because otherwise it just wasn't funny at all as far as he was concerned...

Official USSW & UFAN Statement
I must regretfully agree with Fuehrer Richtoff's assessment of the matter. Although a nation has a sovereign right to certain actions, they also have responsibilities to take the opinions of others into a decent consideration before taking said actions first. As far as we ourselves know, we were not approached about this proposed alliance, nor given time to air what would've surely been our extreme disfavor of the very concept. Others may have been, and their opinion would remain their own, but nonetheless there is such a thing as a step too far. And alas, Aurum Domus has taken such in this alliance with Doomingsland; and thus consequences appropriate thereto have been meted out after contemplation among those United Federation of Allied Nations members responsible for determining them, to remain in place until the reason for them is voided.
I won't dignify Caesar Maximus III's comments with a reply. Suffice it to say, I would've expected more mature remarks from one who deems himself so powerful; but in charity I will admit a certain entertainment value to them at least. Our Akimonadi comrades more than speak for us in reply, even if perhaps on a level that also leaves to be desired for stooping to that of the Doomani in tone. As for the reports from Vetaka, all I am at liberty to say is that we support the Vetakan Government in whatever efforts it may make or may have already made to address this issue. Our United Federation of Allied Nations speaks as one in defense of what we uphold in common, even despite our other ideals and methods being many.
To one whom I yet wish to regard as a friend, High General Samuel Oron of Aurum Domus, I can only ask that you reconsider. Is the Imperium Doomanum powerful? Yes. Are the Doomani wealthy? Of course. But one must ask what is the source of such might and riches, and what is the price paid for them. I don't believe I have to explain that in further detail; suffice it to say, for one ally to gain, you risk losing many more. Many more whom would not expect half from you what Caesar Maximus might come to in time, or lead you along paths so potentially dark and destructive either. The choice remains yours, for I cannot jump into your palace and erase your signature from any treaties with any more right than anyone else; but my choice is to ask that you reconsider all the same.

Worries Arise in Government as Ally Draws Nearer to Human Rights Violating Power
A few days ago officials from the Aurum Domus ruling government showed their intentions to the world by announcing that they had opened an alliance with the notorious nation of Doomingsland. The speakers for the government based the alliance on the fact that they could receive large riches and trade from their new ally, and also confirmed that they had signed 'a mutual defence pact' with the leaders of Doomingsland.
The situation has created worries and controversy not just in the government, who have consistently highlighted Doomingsland as one of 'Nationstates greatest threats to humanity' in the annual Government International Affairs Assessment despite having no first hand witnesses of there labelled 'terrible human rights violations', but also for the public, who are worried over the direction of the former close allies new foreign policy. Aurum Domus was one of the few nations that assisted Honako during its invasion a number of years ago, and therefore had created a close friendship between its peoples, with communities of Domus citizens sprouted up around the country and likewise in Aurum Domus, causing a merging between cultures and creating well respected members of the community out of former Domus citizens. However, a former Public Relations Officer during Bourla Parkins government said today that 'this was a bad move for Aurum Domus-Honakon relations, especially within the people'. It is also said to have to be having an effect on the relations between the two governments, though Honako has had a relaxed relationship with the country recently, serving only as a ceremonial ally through the UFAN.
However, a source from inside the Foreign Office said last week 'General Claes and his government are very much on the same wavelength as Wagdog and Kampfers on this issue - they are strongly against slavery, and cannot believe a member of an organization that puts the worldwide abolition of it as one of its number one goals would consider becoming allies with one of slave labours most famous users. They desire to remain close with Aurum however, unless he continues to support slave-trading nations'. A short statement was made today by a spokesperson of High Commissioner Claes in essence saying that they disapproved with the actions of their ally, but that currently they were still an ally and that Honako would support whatever decision the United Federation of Allied Nations made.

High General's Palace
Samuel Oron paced back and forth in his office thinking. How had something so small gone so horribly wrong? This was just a plan to reduce military equipment costs and open up new markets in other parts of the world. The mutual defense pact had been more of a symbolic gesture, the Doomani would most likely never need Aurum Doman help and if Aurum Domus needed protection then they had the UFAN. His citizens hadn't complained, they respected the Doomani for their great weapons and military power, not for being slave traders.
The High General hadn't slept much in the past week, everytime he tried he woke up screaming and sweating from nightmares of Freekish soldiers invading the palace. He knew there was only one way to end this and though he really didn't want to, this was the only way. He would never put Doomingsland before UFAN. The Federation were where his loyalties lay and he wasn't going to give them up just for some cheaper goods and Doomani military protection.

Aurum Domus Bows Out of Doomani Alliance After Harsh International Backlash
Today, The Armed Republic ended their alliance with Doomingsland after harsh pressure from the UFAN and the international community. Aurum Doman citizens aren't too pleased. They believed that an alliance with a nation as powerful as Doomingsland would help Aurum Domus reach the top. Unfortunately the government wasn't willing to lose their UFAN membership to do so. This statement was released by the High General earlier today:
"It is unfortunate that this alliance had to be ended but let it be known, Aurum Domus never violated any written rules of the UFAN Charter of the Theeb Accords, we withdrew from this alliance to prevent any more problems with other nations"

Does this sentence seem familiar to any of the UFAN nations now condemning Aurum Domus? If not, allow me to refresh your memories. It is the first sentence in the UFAN Prime Directive. Sovereignty. A funny word. The definition, "Having supreme authority in a given realm or spectrum." If Aurum Domus' sovereignty had truly been respected in this case, it's decision would have been accepted and left at that. Clearly UFAN does not respect sovereignty, and it is high time they be exposed for the masked imperialists that they are.

If Aurum Domus truly claims to be a soviergn state, they most certainly have a peculiar way of showing it. Clearly UFAN does not seek to uphold, nor support it's own charter, clearly it merely seeks to use it's position to exploit and manipulate it's member countries.
All UFAN member states accept the sovereignty of all member nations within the Alliance.

Sir, your statement is completely ridiculous. It is unnecessary to rely on a feeling of innate superiority in order to criticize the recent alliance between Aurum Domus and Doomingsland; aside from the most obvious factor of the moral high ground (Doomingsland being the single greatest threat to the civilized world). Realpolitik will suffice. Doomingsland does not need Aurum Domus; besides the Imperium Doomanum, Aurum Domus is a drop in the ocean and completely irrelevant. Therefore, Doomingsland does not have to give Aurum Domus anything, while Aurum Domus (by inviting the criticism of UFAN) has abandoned its allies and now has only Doomingsland to guard it. In short, Aurum Domus has replaced willing allies with an ally who does not need it, and then tried to rectify its mistake, thus removing the small chance that Caesar would have actually done some good for Aurum Domus. They have made a political blunder of the highest degree. I think that is all one needs for criticism.

Moral high ground? Morality has no place in a government. A government's job is to serve the people over which it rules, not appease the international mob by going by its moral standards, which are different from nation to nation to begin with. As for Doomingsland's need for the alliance with Aurum Domus; it is not the fault of Doomingsland that the Aurum Domus government did not have the foresight to see that its alliance would be unpopular. Backing down immediately, rather than defending its decision, shows nothing but spinelessness which, like 'morality', has no place in a government.

Official Free Dominion of Vetaka Diplomatic Message:
To: <Open Communication>
From: Daniel Pearce, President of the Free Dominion of Vetaka
Subject: Aurum-Doomani Crisis
After monitoring this situation closely I feel that I as Leader of the Vetakan Dominion and one of the founding fathers of the UFAN I must make a statement regarding this issue on behalf of the United Federation of Allied Nations.
The United Federation was founded on the principles of Human Rights and Human Equality. It was founded to provide collective security to its members. It was founded as a force of good in a world which is stricken by evil at every corner. The Vetakan Dominion under the Federation banner has worked as hard as it can to promote human rights and basic human equality. The nation of Doomingsland has no respect for Human Rights or Equality. Evidence of such disrespect is the Doomani destruction of Kahanistan and the Doomani continued desire to participate in the vile and age old civilization of Slavery a practice Vetaka and UFAN opposes and continue to fight in the form of the internationally respected and recognised Theeb Accords Document.
The Vetakan Dominion as well as other UFAN nations has taken a passive resistance stance towards the Doomani with Travel and Trade Restrictions the Vetakan Dominion will continue to do what it can to oppose the Doomani Ways via peaceful and passive means. The nation of Aurum Domus is a well respected one across the world. The nation of Aurum Domus is held in high regard across the Federation they are strong, wise and above all free. The Sovereignty of Aurum Domus has not been undermined or broken as the hypocritical and bureaucratic Kroando Department of Ignoring the International Community seems to claim. The Government of Aurum Domus is free to do what it likes in line with its own constitution. The Government of Aurum Domus is free to forge an Alliance with whom ever it likes however under that Freedom nations across the United Federation and across the World are free to criticize, condemn and pressure the nation of Aurum Domus to end such an Alliance perhaps the Pencil Pushers within Kroando Department of Ignoring the International Community should take a "International Politics for Beginners Course" their is an excellent one currently running at New Theeb University.
The nation of Aurum Domus forged an Alliance and got slated for it. Aurum Domus realised that upon reflection that Alliance wasn't currently in its best interests as a result it terminated the agreement it does not take a genius to realise that this whole state of affairs is just business. To conclude Aurum Domus just like any nation within the United Federation of Allied Nations is a Free and Sovereign one it is free to do what it desires. However as I have previously stated any nation whether in UFAN or not must be prepared to accept consequences for its actions, that's just politics my friends.

UFAN’s Moral Bankruptcy
Article by: Juha Poro
Recently United Federation of Allied Nations, usually known as UFAN, member state Aurum Domus announced official alliance with Doomingsland. Aurum Domus motives were clear, alliance promised for them significant discout then buying Doomani military products and free trade could significantly boost Aurumian economy.
UFAN has declared its opposition to slavery very clearly. All members must have signed Theeb Accords which strictly prohibit slavery. So as expected, several UFAN members, led by Kampfers, condemned alliance with Doomingsland and placed Aurum Domus under probation. Aurum Domus fastly capitulated under diplomatic pressure and pulled out from alliance with Doomingsland. Conclusions of this event are simple, if they are ready to pull out from treaties they have signed so ridiculously fastly, then Aurum Domus obviously can not be trusted as allie.
Aurum Domus – Doomingsland alliance is actualy very good event for understanding moral bankruptcy inside UFAN. Many UFAN member states have purchased armaments from large Doomani companies, mainly Imperial Aerospace Corporation(IAC) and Doomingsland Defence Industries(DDI), which actively use slave labor. Kampfers which was first to condemn alliance with Doomies, is among most active buyers of Doomingsland military equipment. Other UFAN states which have purchased equipment from Doomani corporations in recent past are: The PeoplesFreedom, Aurum Domus, Green Hawk, Labhekistan, Central Prestonia and Calizorinstan. For those nations, making business with most infamous slave traders is completely acceptable. It is like condemning Holocaust and making business with Hitler at same time.
I would like to call all UFAN member states to stop acting like bunch of hypocrites and stop using any Doomani equipment in their armed forces. Also it should be obvious to avoid any future arms purchases from corporations like DDI and IAC. Currently it is hard to take seriously UFAN’s pro-human rights standing then many of its members, especially High Council Member Kampfers, are actively making business with slave-trading Doomanis.

We debunk the so called "UFAN's Moral Bankruptcy" Article by the Drasgard Times
Article by Tim Harvard
I was shocked in the UFAN's Moral Bankruptcy article a piece that likened our dealings with Doomingsland Defence Industries to opposing a dictator, yet dealing with him, here is the piece that bothered me: "The Aurum Domus-Doomingsland alliance is actually a very good event for understand moral bankruptcy in the UFAN. Many UFAN member states have purchased armaments from large Doomani companies mainly Imperial Aerospace Corporation and Doomingsland Defence industries, which actively use slave labor. Kampfers, which was the first to condemn the alliance with the Doomies is among the most active buyers of Doomingsland miltary equipment. Other UFAN member states which have purchased from equipment from Doomani corporations in the past include; The PeoplesFreedom, Aurum Domus, Green Hawk, Labhekistan, Central Prestonia and Calizorinstan."
The cheek of Juha Poro to accuse us of hypocrisy like we are the Pharisees of the Bible! Our leaders had no clue at the time that DDI and IAC used slaves in their companies, else we'd never have bought from them in the first place. No one told us, so we should be described as "unwittingly bought from DDI which used slaves." However, the DD-83 and the DAC-97 are very good weapons, but they are being replaced by the Hali-53 and the M-8 assault rifles, so Juha can be the first to praise us for not going Doomani.
I hope that he will be in the future more subtle in his accusations, for like I said before, he is in effect accusing the UFAN of hypocrisy. I bet 25 dollars that the UFAN might go to war against the Doomani's soon, to assist our friends the Kahanstanians.
This is not the official position of the government, but my opinion of Juha's article.

Saad al-Baradei tossed down the paper with a snort.
"Didn't know they were slave traders... hah! I suppose they haven't figured out the sky is blue, either..." he chuckled.
The actions of Aurum Domus had come as no surprise, of course. al-Baradei was one of the foremost of those in the government who thought that the leadership of Aurum Domus were collectively craven cowards and could not be trusted as far as they could be kicked, and he had held that opinion for years. His opinion was unlikely to ever change for the better, and it could hardly get worse. He'd viewed the whole fiasco mainly with indifference, tempered with a vague satisfaction at being proven correct.

I on the other side, have no problem with my allies doing whatever they like with theirs or other's populations (as long as those people are not allied me as well), that can be verified if you'll just see my alliance with BL, whom I gave a protectorate in Cazelia with the knowledge that he'd blend half the citizenship for fun.
Anyways, Doom, if you are interested in some type of deal with me, just let me know.

OOOC: I'm pretty sure that was me Leaf, anyway, this whole thing was a big mistake but I'd rather lose credibility then my nation. I really think everyone overreacted though.

Homo Calizorinstanius Strikes Back?
Article by: Juha Poro
Recently I wrote article “UFAN’s Moral Bankruptcy”, which dealt with hyporcisy of many members of that alliance, who have purchased military equipment form Doomingsland coprorations which use slave labor. Among other such nations was Calizorinstan, I suggest everyone to read Tim Harvard’s article “We debunk the so called "UFAN's Moral Bankruptcy" Article by the Drasgard Times” in Calizorinstanian New San Diego Times which tries to justify said nation.
Do not get me wrong, I suggest reading that article mainly for comical value, because I failed to find there anything that could be taken seriously. One of the best pieces of humor there: “Our leaders had no clue at the time that DDI and IAC used slaves in their companies, else we'd never have bought from them in the first place.“ I have pretty serious dilemma with this one. Logical assumption is that Tim Harvard is idiot not realizing that his government consists of bunch of hypocrites. Another possibility is that he is actually correct. In that case I would suggest Calizorinstanians to ask some foreign government to take over control of their nation, because they obviously are too uncompetent for managing their nation themselfly. Considering how notorius slavetraders Doomanis are, even Neanderthalian would understand that their main corporations have lots of slaves. Of course lets avoid misunderstandings here, slaves are not assembling Aquilas of IAC, but there are lots of primitive works like cleaning factories that they are forced to do.
There is another good piece of humour: “I hope that he will be in the future more subtle in his accusations, for like I said before, he is in effect accusing the UFAN of hypocrisy.” No shit, Sherlock! I wrote very clearly that UFAN states are “acting like bunch of hypocrites”. I guess I can only congratulate Tim Harvard for understanding the point of article, although it seems to have caused some problems for him. Final sentence of his article was also interesting: “I bet 25 dollars that the UFAN might go to war against the Doomani's soon, to assist our friends the Kahanstanians.” Lets hope that average Homo Calizorinstanius is a bit smarter then Tim Harvard from Calizorinstanian New San Diego Times, because otherwise I would be ready to bet hundred times bigger sum, that they would be crushed like ants in such conflict.
I appologise in front of my readers who expected some more serious analysis of foreign politics, but I found Calizorinstanian rebuttal for my article so ridiculous, that I could not resist replying to it. I suggest everyone to read mentioned Tim Harvard’s article “We debunk the so called "UFAN's Moral Bankruptcy" Article by the Drasgard Times” for good laugh, but do not search anything intelligent from there.
