Drawing upon experience from the ESUS-GFFA conflict, it was determined that the present Mao Zedong III series was powerful and held its own against foreign foes, but could also become outclassed by much larger foreign vessels and more exotic weaponry. In addition, the rise of drone ships within the People's Navy forced a revision of previous tactics and ways of Dornalian thinking.

In response to these threats, the Commissariat of National Defense drew up requirements for an all new battleship for the new Navy. After a series of bids submitted by the shipyards and private contractors came through, the Karl Liebknecht Shipyard won the bid to produce the new class of Maos.

Command and Control:
-Comes with EVA 2.0 Standard Command Suite, with two "Gracie" AI and Standard Engineering Automation Suites to lessen the need for human crew, especially in terms of repair and ship matenance--thus freeing up the crew to command and control the ship in battle.
-FEDBED Compatible.
-Sensors: Comes with the Jensen Upgraded Sensor package, with Amethyst Stealth Detection System, most major scanning frequencies, proprietary Force-based scanning, and an effective average range of one light-day.
-Comes with Drone Interface to provide Command and Control to the Deng Xiaoping Drone Vessel Series.

Defensive Capabilities:
-Energy Shielding: 1x STS-2 Masada Temporal Shielding Suite. Masada projects six layers of temporal shielding with additional RA/EA Field for energy recycling from kinetic impacts.
-Armor: 75 meter thick layered Leninite Composite Alloy hull. Due to cost overruns, the usual Nanite Regeneration Suite and Abblative armor were not added. The hull itself has spaces in it where crystalline reactive foam can be deployed to absorb further impacts. In addition, the hull is divided into easily detachable bulkheads for emergencies involving infestation or other emergencies.
-Point Defenses: Having deemed gauss miniguns themselves insufficient, the People's Navy sought a solution for this. Recently acquired from the Federal Union, the Jukebox Hero Point Defense System (known in TFU as the Interceptor Grid) is comprised of a Gracie A.I unit as well as a backup in a central command center that is linked to a network of turrets equipped with energy and pulse beams programmed to react to enemy targets. In addition, there is an added series of energy web projectors that are used to deter strikes by torpedoes and missiles as well. The system has also been equipped with the Double Vision Interceptor Missile (TFU: Puffin Hit-to-kill missile), which is mainly targeted towards small vessels, fighters and other torpedoes/missiles as well and uses a solid KE payload and near-C speeds to hit its target. Jukebox Hero has also been augmented with the Steel and Earth Dragon torpedoes, as well as the Gauss Miniguns familiar to most servicemen, as well as replication technology. It does have some downsides, mainly that the system itself in Federal Service has been proven to become overwhelmed proportionally as more units are thrown at it--that is, the more you throw at it, the less effective it gets. Dornalian modifications to it have so far alleviated some of the problems, but we're still working on it.
