The Communist party has signed off the military to be able to research in cryogenic weoponary, this includes an idea of a liquid nitrogen bomb.

OCC: need to think about it first before anything, so its a little post.

Ooc: Whoa, I'm glad my state is so left leaning, otherwise we'd be screwed!

Bic: The USS of Magnus Maximus wishes to offer any assistance you may require, whether financial or logistical or whatever, we would be delighted to help.

To Evan Gorbavich, Ambassador of the People's Communist State of North Calaveras

We have heard of liquid nitrogen bomb testing and we would like to inform North Calaveras of our willingness to provide monetary and physical aid in the development of this powerful weapon. We ask for permission to send 12 physicists, 45 labourers, and 3 researchers to help develop this weapon.

Cryogenic warfare... it had been dabbled in in the past by the Ministry of Secrets. First, a simple backpack-mounted spray was used, pessurised to the point where it was viable without coolant. That had failed on the battlefield, the flamethrower being of preference.

The next idea had been a small bomb, about the same size as a 100 lb bomb, which consisted of a complex deployment system for spraying 70 lb of Liquid NItrogen up to 90 yards in either direction.

There still were working models, removed from military production lists, that could be very useful for bargaining. If their price was right....

OOC: Invest in some VX Nerve Gas instead, it'd be cheaper to create a stockpile, a delivery system, and an entire infrastructure.

But I have an idea on how to make a superweapon out of it. You have dry ice, solid carbon dioxide, and disperse it over the battlefield. It settles and suffocates the soldiers below unless they have an oxygen tank.

(OOC:
I still prefer the idea of dropping tons of molten gold over towns/battlefields. not only do you destroy your enemy, but you produce a work of art in the process. A nice tasteful display of your enemy dying in horrible agony.
Of course, just spraying highly concentrated acid over the battlefield would probably be more effective than a liquid nitrogen bomb, I'd think. Cheaper too.)

OOC: A hydrogen bomb would work too. As would dropping pure liquid nitrogen in itself, although this would probably not work in tropical areas.

Wouldn't work at all, actually. The stuff boils at -190 degrees (Celsius, of course), and flashes at room temperature (20 degrees). Dumping it from any altitude just leaves a pretty cloud of nitrogen, while a bomb would freeze things within a few feet and make a nice puff of smoke. WP makes better smoke clouds (AND kill better), and standard HE bombs kill far more readily for less weight and far less expense.

The hydrogen bomb, of course, WOULD work, but mostly because you just nuked them... ;) If you're talking liquid or gaseous hydrogen though, even more useless. While flammable, the stuff will do little more than singe your eyebrows, and the liquid stuff has the same issues as liquid N.

Well, it'd be more effective than the liquid nitrogen, but not much, what with the issues with transporting it, how long it takes to work compared to, say, napalm, and all sorts of other things. Just dump some nice cheap VX on 'em and call it a day.
