Project Sunrise
In an effort to diplomatically expand the realm and bring peace and order to neighbouring areas, Project Sunrise sends delegations to targeted population centers to negotiate incorporation in the Kingdom of Cascadia with the local leadership.
The delegations are composed of a political team from the Royal Cascadian Diplomatic Corps to represent Queen Rhiannon; construction crews of tradespeople and technicians for preparing and building venues that the area may lack, such as hospitals, schools, etc.; infrastructure experts and consultants for organizing effective municipal government with the locals; transport trucks filled with agricultural tools, non-perishable foods, and emergency supplies.
In addition, each delegation will include a platoon of infantry from C Corps, numbering 50 soldiers plus commanders. The platoons will work closely and in cooperation with the local law enforcement (if any) to establish and maintain peace and order. This will also demonstrate Cascadia’s ability and willingness to protect the area.
Quite aside from the practical benefits being provided, there are intrinsic incentives for the local leadership as well. Investiture of the families into the Cascadian peerage, with potential for nobility with distinguished service to the Crown to start, and hereditary land and title grants to establish a proper base of influence in their area. Every additional barony, march, and shire incorporated into the Kingdom only makes Cascadia stronger and more stable, with those attributes being shared by its constituents.
Phase One focuses on the remaining unincorporated eastern areas of Oregon and Washington. The major delegations in this phase are for such population centers as Pendleton, La Grande, Baker City, Ontario, Burns, John Day, Vale and Jordan Valley in Oregon, and Colville, Grand Coulee, Spokane, Pullman and Walla Walla in Washington.
A successful Phase One would redraw Cascadia’s eastern border to conform with the boundaries of the former states. The resources required will come almost entirely from the Duke of Washington and the Duchess of Oregon, since they are the ones with the greatest stake in the expansion of their duchies. The Crown has granted a Phase One budget of $100M, and the military detachments will amount to the strength of nearly a regiment, though detachments will be split between the Royal Portland Highlanders and the Royal Seattle Regiment.
