Killerman Island

A massive Greal force had landed on the beach at Killerman island. The "Island" was prepared for the Greal War Games. Defending this massive area will be a job for the Toori, Antigr, and Greal. The attackers also will have a tough time taking the island also, since half the island was covered with mountains and hills everywhere. Greal troops were on the Sally beach, which was on the southern half of the island.

KILLERMAN ISLAND
.................................................................................................... ....

Toori forces had already taken up residence amongst the grooves, small valleys, and cliffs of the massive mountain range of the island. Howitzer and heavy long range artilery looked out over the sea atop various undisclosed cliffs. Gunships mingled about, taking troops into the strength of the mountains, then dropping armor units amongst the Greal forces on the beach.

The Greal army greeted the Toori army, but they had work to do, building up the island's defenses.

General Heart came into the room.
"Do we know whats on the other side of the island?"asked General Heart

"We sent 2 divisions to check out the western side of the island."said captain Komes

The Antigrans had decided to concentrate mainly on where defences were weakest, setting up long-range howitzers, rockets, missiles, a missile-defence system, as well as a temporary airfield.
Armoured divisions were set up all over the place, reinforced by Air Cavalry and Infantry, which were also to bulk out their numbers.

The Orbathian government decided to become involved. A possible outbreak of war had subsided, leaving more troops available. The Orbathian military command wanted to become involved in war games. It gave them a chance to see their military flaws and tweak them, before they were faced with a real situation. Military brass liked it too, because although it was not a real war, it still held real promotions.

Deep In International Water

The Orbathian Task Force sailed proudly. It was a beautiful day and the sun glistened of the freshly shined decks and rails of the naval ships. Helicopters and CAP patrols flew around the fleet, like buzzing bees, protecting it from any threat. It was unlikely they would run into one, they were deep in international waters, still far away from the island. The theater commander, General K. Rook, a stern, older man, paced about the flag ship, the ONS Harpoon. This would likely be one of his last missions. Although he didn't want to admit it, age was catching up to him. He didn't want a desk job, he would retire with quite a large pension anyway. He was hoping to come back from this mission a victor. He wanted his last mission to be a success, something he could tell his grand children about. The first part of the operation wasn't up to him though, it was up to the pilots of the bombers, which would likely be soaring, high above his fleet.

Approaching Island

6 B-77 Ravagers flew at 60,000 feet. The bombers were new, purchased only a few years ago. This would be the first time that they would be used in combat. The bombers split up, ensuring they were far enough apart from each other that they could all not be picked up by the same radar. THey were quite stealthy aircraft with reduced acoustic, electromagnetic, and infrared signatures. They likely wouldn't even be picked up by mobile radars on the island. It was enemy naval fleets that were more of a concern.

The bombers approached enemy territorial waters.

''Command this is Bravo One, about to enter enemy airspace over.''

''Understood Bravo One, Operation Hammer Strike is a go.''

The aircraft entered enemy airspace. They had been ordered to destroy mobile radar stations and SAM sites. They had also been ordered to destroy any type of defenses, paying close attention to the beaches.

Radar stations and satletiles were tracking the bombers way before it entered Greal airspace.

"6 bombers? Ha!"said General Heart

soon 200 Greal Eurotyphhon fighters and 100 shark fighters were in the air heading for the bombers, SAM missiles were fired before the Greal fighters had got there.

Toori LRI-102's (Flamberges) had already launched from the floating platform and were screaming toward the enemy bombers at mach 4.7, at an altitude of 25,900 meters. Armed with a payload of two AMRAAM's, or an optional payload of one Pheonix long range air to air missile, they were sure to take the bombers out.

OOC: Any stats on that aircraft, I don't know of many that can travel at Mach 4 and not be ripped to shreds. I'm not really picky though so I'm gonna go with it.

Near The Island

The enemy aircraft were picked up on radar by Bravo 3. Although Orbathian bombers were not normally outfitted with air to air missiles, first, second and some times even third strike missions were. Normally it was only a few, just in case. This was the case with this flight of bombers. The pilot radioed the other pilots.

''All pilots this is Bravo Three, two bandits in site, will engage, please continue with mission.''

The pilot began flicking buttons. A rotary launcher inside the bomber turned and the bomb bay door. Out of the door flew two AIM-54A RID, one half of his air to air missile load-out. He then waited.

The remaining aircraft continued forward, quickly approaching range of their weapons.

Deep In International Waters

Task Force Charlie continued towards the island, though slowly. They waited for their allies to make a move or contact them before doing anything to risky.

OOC: Im still working on a 2D render and basic specifications. Here is the top view: (no paint: http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/swampthinggreenprotoss/Tooriflamberge2.jpg ) ( Toori colors: http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee281/swampthinggreenprotoss/Tooriflamberge4.jpg ). It can basicaly go that fast for 3 reasons:

1- Kick ass power plant: http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pratt_%26_Whitney_J58 , note, its an amped up version of the J58

2- chemistry: The Flamberge is extremely light, and strong.

3- Payload: when it comes to armament, it doesn't have much. Usualy 2 AMRAAMs, and one 40mm semi-automatic combustion-assisted gause rifle.

IC: Two of the Toori LRI-102 Flamberges had been taken out of the fight by missiles. The rest of the flight of 8, now 6 continued onward. The flight commander screamed directly toward the approaching bomber, no hint of an intention of breaking his coarse. He was closing fast, head on. Everywhere the bomber tried to flinch, the Flamberge tracked it like a missile as it got closer and closer.

What's a Gauss rifle?
Toori
04-10-2007, 20:24
OOC: bassicaly, in simpleton terms: a gauss rifle uses magnets to pull the bullet down the barrel. A 'Combustion-Assisted' gauss rifle, like the one in the Flamberge, uses explosive charges behind the round to give it an extra boost. It also saves energy, cause the magnets take alot, especialy with a 40mm.

OOC: Sorry, I didn't realize SAMs had been fired.

IC:
The bombers knew they were in trouble. By some freak chance, they had managed not to get hit. One had even taken out two enemy bombers. With many more screaming towards them, they took action. The bomb bay doors opened and dozens of JASSAM bombs poured out, already GPS guided to various targets along the coast. Mostly SAM sites and coastal guns. They then launched chaff and flares and waited for the enemy to make its move.

The Second Wave

The second wave of bombers had received word of the first waves defeat. They also received word that an enemy nation had pulled out of the war game. This meant that this attack might have a better chance. The bombers decided to try a different tactic. 3 bombers dropped in altitude. They flew extremely low over the ocean. So low that if the cockpits were not closed in, the pilots would hear the ocean waves. The other three flew extremely high. Either way, both groups of bombers would be nearly undetectable on radar. The bombers had been given new orders. Their attack had been reversed. They would be able to drop their payloads within minutes of breaching enemy waters. That would be soon. The bombers continued forward, quite quickly.

By now the radar had finally detected the bombers, SAM missiles were fired quickly, but not before the bombs hit the radar station destorying half the building. Greal fighters came out of nowhere to help the defense by firing more anti-aircraft missiles at the bombers, but the bombers had already destoryed lots of buildings below.

Inside Enemy Airspace

The bombers had managed to penetrate enemy airspace and they were now in range. The lead bomber gave the order.

''All bombers this is Bravo One, release payloads, Operation Dart is a go.''

With the order given, the bomb bay doors on the B-77s opened and dozens of TACTIT RAINBOWS and JASSAM munitions poured out. The TACTIT RAINBOWS were actually radar seeking drones that would hunt down anything with radar on the coast of the island. The JASSAMs were all GPS guided. Targets had been chosen based on satellite images. They would hit many coastal guns, communications towers, bunkers, artillery emplacements, airfields and tank defenses that lined the coast.
