Broken Empire

Ermor, western border of Eastern half of the Empire
"Lord Censor!", came the sudden yell from the outside his tent as he and several others were standing around a wooden table with a map of the world on it.
He and the three others turned to watch at the entrance as a man in a slightly ragged clothes barged in. None of them actually rose from the map, however, still keeping their hands on the table.
It was one of the scouts he had sent in earlier.
"What is it?," he asked with a certain degree of discontent in his voice. Obviously the man had forgotten his place, and that a Censor could try and execute him on the spot.
"I bring grave news, Lord! The others... They're dead!"
"What?", said the Censor as he raised an eyebrow.
"The other scouts are dead! I'm all that's left! But we found out what has been sabotaging our supply lines!"
The Censor stood up properly.
"Well?! Tell me!"
The man was still trying to catch his breath, which infuriated the Censor. He didn't show it, however.
"Some strange creatures of the wild, Lord! They came out of nowhere and ambushed us as we reached some corpses and broken wagons!"
"Wild creatures?"
He hunched his back and started taking support from the table again.
"Could the stories be true? The legends of satyrs and other such filth hiding in the woods?"
"That is exactly what we saw, Lord! Living and breathing, right there, with murderous intent!"
"... This is more grave than we thought," he said, pausing momentarily, "You may go now."
The scout nodded and slowly walked out of the tent.
The Censor turned to the others in the tent whom had been silent all this time.
"You three are to go to the Thaumaturg who sent us out here and tell him to tell the others to bring in more forces out here. The western part of the Empire is at stake."
"Very well, Lord Censor," said one of them and the two others nodded silently. Next they stood up properly and left the tent, leaving the Censor alone.
Wild creatures... And I thought we had enough problems with the C'tissian witches and the Ulmian and Pythian traitors.
