The Minister of Police was walking home from the senate hall. It was already nearly night, the glow of the sun still felt from the red mud walls of the old city and the concrete/glass aedifices of the city outside.

He was very nervous: what had just been decided in senate was exactly what his sponser did not want, what he should have tried more to prevent...

"Hello. Going somewhere are we?"

The minister fell, hit from behind by a cosh. It was quickly concealed, before the unconciouss body was dumped in the rear of an ambulance, that started and drove off quickly.

The minister woke up. It was daylight again. It was hot and dusty as well. He hoped that the place he was was not what he thought it was.

He struggled at his bonds, and banged his head as the ambulance suddenly stopped. A bag was thrown on his head and he was dragged into a lorry, which started again. It would only be 30 minutes till his fate was revealed. He heard an occasioanl click, and as the lorry accelerated his bag fell off, showing him a geiger counter that had just been started.

30 minutes later, the truck stopped, and the blinding light shone in his eyes. The geiger counter now was crackling nearly continuously. The minister was forced to his knees on what appeared to be glass. He looked around. In front of him was a trench, and for miles around him stretched a dusty wasteland, broken by shining craters of glass that stretched for miles.

A bullet hit his skull, and he fel into the trench. Earth was quickly poured over the trench, and the truck started up again as the men made a quick getawy from the infanous glass flats: a former nuclear testing area that no-one in thier right minds would enter. Except those who wanted to hide something.

ANN News 1 - The 6 O'clock News

In the news this morning, the minister of Police, Ill'iron Op'ali has disappeared from walking home yesterday evening, after a decision for the government to increase sea patrols for drugs and arms convoys.

The government is requesting that all sightings of the minister are reported at once. It is suspected that foreign investigators may be asked to help search for the important minister.

International Airspace

1 jet carrying 20 investigators was flying toward Alfegos, it was due to land in 2 hours. During that time, the investigators looked at what the Alfegons sent them as evidence.

There was little evidence to go on in this case. Only two pieces stood out: one was that an ambulance had disappeared, and had been seen driven shortly after the minister diappeared.

The second was that the minister's wallet had been found in a bin nearby, confirming that he had been abducted, but not for money. What for?

The Greal jet carrying investigators was preapring to land at the Alfegos airport, Captain Parket was in charge of the team.

At Liberty airport were waiting 4 men. 3 were police investigators, one was the Alfegos Metropolitan Police Commander.

As the men left the plane, the 4 men walked over to them.

"Hello. I see you have ceom to investigate this case with us. We do not have mcuh time or evidence, but we hope we can go on that to help us find our minister."

"Half of us are new, but I think we can handle it.'said Captain Parket

"Good. We'll start at his last known place: the street outside the old city."

2 squad cars pulled up, with purple lights on the roof.

"Ours. Lets go."

To Alfregos:

The Republic Of Colstream would like to send 30 Colstream Federal Bureau investigators to help in the search for your minister. We will work with your investigators and the Greal investigators.

We accept your offer, Colstream. We are anxious to find the minister, or to find the cause for his disappearance.

The news of the Minister of Polices disappearance was a piece of news that Aegies wanted to hear. With a break in the chian it would surely put a atrain on all investigations due to all resources being put towards the Ministers case.

As the news unfolded, he sent a message to the AUM representive that he knew from the Drug trade company- Rogue Inc.

" We are aware that you have disposed of the Minister of Police. While this is most fortunate for us, I fear with more and more forgien investigators becoming involved this may put starin on your organization. I will be sending over a " Professional" to " Assist" in the investigation. He will be arriving in the morning. I will give you updates as to his progress."

We have much cover to move out: the civil war is nearing an end, and the distraction caused has moved eyes away from the drugs plantation.

However, we accept the "specialist" for aid in what we should do to cover our tracks.

James Hawk was doing sit ups when the phone rang on his desk.

To Alfregos:

The Investigators are at the Colstream Embassy waiting for orders. There is concern back in the Republic Of Colstream over this matter and are shocked that this type of incident would happen to an ally. They will wait untill you need them.

A phone rang.

James wondered what was happening with Pinguinum's closest neighbour.

He wondered as well with the war if the flights between Pinguinum and Alfegos were in danger.

To: Colstream

Your investigators are ready to proceed, with Alfegos police escorts for aid.

TO: Pinguinium

We assure that there are no threats to any flights in Zevkhay province in teh south. The capital (New Zevkhay) where the minister disappeared is completely safe.

The phone call was from Alfegos. No mention of needing the ESS. The investigators would much rather be lying on Pinguinum's pristine beach anyway.

He was happy to know that all flights were safe and could inform the minister.

OOC: Nice RP so far. Yet, as I was reading it, I happened upon Alfegos's signature. You might not know this but there is a rule about sigs. It can't be larger than 8 lines. My advice; cut down those lines between each line of writing. I had to do that too. Just a heads up.

The contact walked to the alloted spot, in Libri'vai square. Many thousands of people streamed past, on their way to the numerous shops on the square or in the area.

He was an agent of the Alfegos Internal Security Squad. He had been given his instructions and soon saw the figure he had been asked to meet up with. He spoke the code word.

"I saw a lovely bird the other day."

He was facing the other way, and was looking almost idly at the Blackberry in his hand.

"I demand an explanation for this!"

The president slammed his fist down on the table, facing the Fego'fai of the Alfegos Underground Mafia.

"You should have come to me first if you wanted the border patrols lessened. As it is, you've put the arrangment we have in jepardy."

The Fego'fai replied.

"We will then lead them away from this. We will instead point them towards the hitmen. I have the two men who shall be questioned. They will have no knowledge of who ordered them to do this, and at worst they will find an imposter of me if they are too pursuant.
They will find the body. I will make sure of it."

On the outskirts of Old Zevkhay, on the outerlying industrial estates, a couple of kids clustered around an ambulance that had been dumped there.

They had not set it on fire. The holographic security cameras put them off. They could see a few, but knew that in the police headquarters of New Zevkhay, the footage was being stored in the digital vaults for playback on the holographic imagers, with conventional images being shown for realtime monitering.

They knew that the cameras could give a 3D image of them, and reveal them in almost no time. They left the entire thing alone.

"So did I and it was grey," was the immediate reply from Triple E.

The Alfegosian agent moved off towards a private secluded spot with the ESS agent following behind by about two metres. They would discuss matters formally in a private backroom converted for covert surveilance. Alfegos of course had set up places like this in a numner of spots to allow for 'special' sessions.

They entered the room, and then began to talk.

"We have a disturbing development at hand. This is that of the involvment of the AUM. This lends itself to the conclusion that the minister was corrupt, if they had any interest in him.

Now, we need to find him, or the body, and then that should lead us to the culprits. Any ideas? For all we know, he could be buried anywhere."

A towtruck came for the ambulance.

"This is what we ahve been looking for. Thanks."

The officer lobbed a Æ5 coin to the head of the group of kids, then drove off. This hopefully would hold some clues.

The Greal investigators watched the whole area, see if anything was left behind. They also watched the Alefgon agents drive in a towtruck.

The ambulance was being inspected in a harshly lit garage, the blue-white lights casting shadows on the ceiling.

Inside, they had found two clues, that would help them track them down, in labelled bags.

One was a 9 mm cartridge case, found hidden deep under one of the seats. The other was a sample of the dirt found on the floor in there.

"This points us towards a place at least: the Polinas wastelands. The dust is faintly radioactive, so that doubles the evidence.
I think we might be dealing with murder, looking at this cartridge. Anyhow, we shall need a team to go up there to check the land."

At the same time, the holographic footage had been pulled up on the large projector in the police headquarter. Walking around, the police watched the ambulance coast in, and the black-balaclavad figures leave the vehicle.

"We shall need the faces enhanced, but hopefully that will lead us to the culprits."

Captain Baller took out his laptop and began trying to enhance the image.

As this was being done at home, the police transport helicopter lifted off its large pad on the roof of the police building, before roaring off into the distance. Onboard were 10 investigators, all bound for Polinas deadlands.

They had an ETA of 5 hours.

"The initial outlook is bleak," commented Triple E, "If the minister was corrupt, that might have been the reason why he was taken".

Triple E looked to his side and back again.

"If this was done by the mob or mafia, depending on your stance it is best to play along with them, have they contacted any of your offices?

Ransom money for instance would lend itself to believing he was still alive, however if it wasn't for financial gain, he may well be dead I fear.

The minister was on his way home right, in a well-lit area but the only CCTV camera was out of action. Do you think this was preplanned or do you know if was an unfortunate technical fault that was genuine?"

The agent looked thoughtful...

The contacts phone vibrated. He looked at the message sent, with the attached photos, and turned back.
"Your theory is sound. We have evidence he has been taken, look."
He opened the attached report and image of the soil and the 9mm cartridge taken.

"We have a team headed over there to look for any evidence. The rpoblem is, this is gonna be quite difficult."

Brief History Lesson - The Alfegos Deadlands

During the winter of 1953, a civil war raged in Alfegos, with brother figthing brother as communism tried to take hold in the nation. 4 weeks earlier, the capital had been taken and ramsacked, and the only barrier left between the untouched province of Polinas and the rest of Alfegos was the mighty Moon Mountain range.
The rebels could not climb over the mountains at this time of year, and as the food was all produced in the Poinas province, they had to attack or they would starve.
Therefore, they took the only passage around: the passage between the coast and the end of the mountain range, to the east.

The army of the democrats that met them were small and weak, and soon were retreating. This was when the final weapon was used against the rebel forces of over 80 000 men amassed on the border: a 360 kT nuclear warhead. The result was catastrophic, with over 70 000 killed instantly, the rest succumbing to radiation sickness.

While normally, the radiation would have cleared up within decades, a combination of factors stopped this. The first was that the nuclear weapon was detonated on impact with the ground, when the airburst system failed onboard.
The second was that the area is sited upon a massive underground deposit of uranium ore. The resultant blast caused such a high level of lingering radiation that soon the entire area was deserted of all life.

During the 60's, the land was used for testing nuclear weapons, until the Nuclear Weapons Testing Act of 1968 was enforced.

Nowadays, the land is abandoned excpet around the edges, where there are still a few uranium mines and processing plants. There is also a massive rubbish tip to the north, which is declining in use as the recylcing policies of ALfegos have begun to have an effect.

Over this land now flew the helicopter, stirring up the lethal dust. Onboard, the camera footage was being observed to see any signs of movement of earth in this inhospitable landscape.
Soon, a ground disturbance was seen on the camera, and the crew donned gas masks and dosemeters as the helicopter landed.
2 men jumped out with shovels and began to excavate the disturbance, while another 2 set about moulding the two tracks they had followed from the air.
The spades hit softer ground, and the body was quickly rolled out. A single bullet was embedded in the back of its skull, and its wrists were bruised. There were odd-looking burns on the body as well.

The body was rolled into a bag and onto the chopper, before they flew back towards the police HQ.

"We've got him".

"This case has become a murder then." stated Triple E confirming the news.

"I trust that you shall cordon off the area and treat is a crime scene. Everything must be categorised, logged, photographed. Soil samples, blood samples, insect specimens must be collected. Create casts of any prints found.
All these are crucial in determining evidence and more to the point what happened.
Any one of these could lead us to the killer," he explained.

"My team can provide support with that but we shall leave your authorities to deal with it in the main," he said reassuringly.

"I will have to make observations and infiltrate the gang so I can get a picture.
Only you and my team will know about this. A leak would be extremely harmful to this investigation. I will make contact under a new name when in their presence. I will discusss this later," he said finally.

"That is good. I shall leave you."

The evidence in the area had slowly been collected, after many trips into the radioactive zone.
The evidence was there: cast tyre tracks that matched the ambulance; three different sets of footprints; a smaple of dirt and blood; and the bullet embedded in the man's skull.

In a secluded bar in the burbs, Triple E leant against a bare brick wall. It smelt musty. The air was filled with smoke and the smell of alcohol was prominent.

Triple E walked halfway along the bar and turned towards it.

"You there, glass of vodka and lime." he ordered.

Triple E at this point was wearing a short-trimmed black hat, shades and a thick leather jacket which had numerous creases. His corduroy trousers were smooth and black. His shoes were wax shiny. He was not smiling and eventually banged his fist on the bar and called for the blond barmaid.

"Hey broad, get over 'ere, I ordered a vodka and lime" he shouted.

"What's the matter with you, ay?" shouted a man sitting at a table of leathered up men.

Triple E turned, sighted and replied "Vaffanculo!".

The man smiled, and got up. "Hey guys he's one of us".

Triple E had now successfully completed the first steps towards infiltrating one of the suspected gangs.

The body was soon identified, by its very corrupted DNA, and the investigation swung round: now to inding the cuplrits. They would have to wait until their contacts in the AUM would have any information.

The men invited Triple E back to some place. They al hopped into a black saloon car. The brown leather interior smelt fresh.

As they were driving, the friendly guy spoke to Triple E.

"Wassa matta wit you ay, na shut up."

Triple E looked right past him.

"Come stai stronzo?" asked the man.

"Mettitelo nel culo fica," answered the Triple E.

The man just smiled and whacked Triple E on the shoulder.

Triple E winked and smiled back. "Bene," he said, "Come vi chimate ragazzi?"

"Io," said the man, "mi chiamo Gianni Bocchino... questo e' Don Moraldo... questo e' Filli Villi e... questo e' Carlos Dragos."

At the small house that was part of the AUM subsidary network, this one dealing with guns, they led the newcomer into the basement, and through a false wall. Here, there were many massive crates, filled with boxes of ammunition, assault rifles, pistols and even a couple AAT-07 anti-tank launchers.

Once past this massive show of strength, and past 2 men idly fiddlig with thier guns, they entered the office of the divisional Fego'soi: a godson of the big man himself.

"Hello, I am the Fego'soi. I wish to know as to your business here." he said with a graceful fegosian accent.

"Ay well, you know the deal. It's all about what you can offer me and what I can offer you." He crooked his neck and scatched his head. "You know, you see what you want to see and you hear what you want to hear." and with that he took out a picture, "See this, it's that dead minister."

"Have a seat."

He motioned for the 4 men at the back of the room to leave. He opened his desk drawer, and pulled out a box of cigars, offering one to the foreigner.

"Grown in the Great Fegos. Their price recently has shot up, due to the military stampeding across the area. Luckily, we managed to keep all the secret gorwing fields, well, secret. And this isn't the only thing we grow."

"What do you wish to tell me about the minister? From the look of you, you know quite a bit. I heard from one of my men you are a Pinguinium. I hope you aren't here to dob on our little operations? You would find it so... shall we say, harsh?"

"Fish, it's all about fish" said Triple E waving a hand in front of his eyes.
"You want fish, we got fish. Understand me you?"

Triple E shuffled in his seat. He took the cigar and placed it in his pocket.
"Thank you sir, was very kind but I don't smoke." said Triple E, "however I will take it as a momento."

The Fego'soi did not know what to make of this man.

"You say that the minister's death is related to fish? I honestly don't know what you are talking about"

He fingered an alarm button and loaded MP5 concealed under his desk.

"Please don't waste my time. If you do not tell me anything useful, your life will end here. Do I make myself clear?"

"I see you smoking, do you smoke salmon?" Triple E glanced downwards at his lap.

He shook one leg and out popped a small round object which rolled out of sight under Fegosoi's chair. Triple E smiled and then frowned.

"You say you don't know why the minister is dead?" Triple E pondered, "And now you ask me? What I will say is they know about you and what you do. You should reallly do more." Triple E smiled.

"Right then"

He hit the silent alarm, and brought up his loaded weapon, squeezing the trigger as he did so and letting 9mm Parabellum rounds fly from the muzzle as the recoil threw it up.

Triple E tapped twice on his pocket. 'Right then' he thought, I know that.

He rolled to one side as the bullets caught him on the side.

Meanwhile the small round object under the chair exploded upward through the seat.

Both lay seemingly lifeless on the floor.

Moments later, the door which was still locked was smashed off its hinges by one of the men. They walked in to find two dead men: one with bloodless tears across his right-hand side, the other in a less "complete" state.

They quickly cleaned up, while one of the men telephoned the Fego'fai. He would be unhappy at best....

The body and body parts were taken away into a seperate room, and put into black body-bags. They would wait until they had some transport sent, to bury them somewhere, like the interior of the Great Fegos.

They did not notice the completeman still breathing.

Of course, once the 'team' had received the signal from Triple E, which was sent everytime he used to 'device', they were on their way.

Within 15 minutes, a darkened car had pulled up outside, and the people in the safehouse had removed all the remains of the two men into the back of the car, underneath mundane shopping bags filled with groceries.

The office had quickly been cleaned up, the desk and chair removed and burnt in the furnace, the bloodstains scrubbed up and the bullet holes in the walls patched over with fresh plaster and covered up with pictures. Then the sensitive information had been burnt in the furnace, and the weapons crates moved into hidden places. All-inall, it looked quite normal. But the mafia had finished here: once someone was killed inside, it was no longer safe.

The car started up as the men bundled in, and then picked up speed away from the safehouse as it drove towards the Zevkhay Outer Ringroad, and from there to the West Coast Autoroute.
