OOC: This is basically a continuation of The Cost of Freedom RP. If you want to read the backstory, click here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=532996). This press conference is open to everyone, even if you not involved at all. OOC Thread here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=539391).
“God, you’re late. The press conference is about to start.”
“Yeah, yeah,” John replied, walking in a swift pace.
John Dwyer, the Director of CTU Eastern Seaboard Operations walked into the flashing lights of the awaiting journalist. He was dress in an Amarni suit. Not his usual wear, but it had been a long time since he was in front of cameras. He wanted it to be good
“Ladies and gentleman,” he started. “I would like to read a short statement before I take questions. At the moment, I can confirm that Lord Bryon Nicolas is currently in our custody and has confessed to aiding and abetting a terrorist act. We also have an arrest warrant for a Major Kurita, who has been identified as a member of The Order of Intelligence, a Tarlagian Special Forces unit.”
He pulled out a picture of the Major out his pocket.
“He is implicated for organising and conducting a terrorist act within the Northern Colonies.”
“Now, are there any questions?”
A lady in the audience shot her hand up.
“Lisa Dobson, Colonial Daily. Does the bombing have anything to do with Tarlag?”
John responded, “At the moment, any statement like that is merely conjecture. The evidence that we have received is that the Central Government has not approved of this, and that this an unauthorised operation, but investigations are still continuing in that area.”
Another hand shot up.
“Peter Smith, The Colonial Times. When will Lord Nicolas be brought up to court?”
“We are not 100% sure as of this moment, but it will take a few days to process everything so I would suspect that he will front court next week. Any other questions?”

A man in the middle of the room raised his hand. "John Locke," He introduced. "NeoAztec Inquirer, has any other nations been connected with this attack?"
"Does your country condone Torture in any way and do we have any guarantees his rights will be respected?" a random Fordock reporter calls out.

"At this point in time, no," replied the Director.

"Does your country condone Torture in any way and do we have any guarantees his rights will be respected?" a random Fordock reporter calls out.
"No, we specifically have a law banning torture. We are quite a leftist state, so we will guarantee that he will be as comfortable as possible."

"At this point in time, no," replied the Director.

"Do you have enough evidence to imprison Lo- I mean, Mr. Bryon Nicolas?"

"We believe so, but we aren't about to second guess the judges."

"We believe so, but we aren't about to second guess the judges."
"What would be the worst case scenario of this trial?"

"We will probably leave that to the judges"
"Directer, Michal Lock Tarlag News Service. Is it true that Lord Nichols was turned over to your custody by a Paladin of the Knights of Ironhold and if true how did this happen?"
Amra sat quietly towards the back of the conference room, just listening. The Regents wanted a first-hand account of just what was happening in Tarlag. Ozgood was an ally, even a friend to Xeraph. But second-hand info was second-hand. The Duke had requested aid not only from Xeraph, but from GAPTS.
The Empire alone was of sufficient strength to quell any two-bit rebellion damn near anywhere in the world. That GAPTS was contacted indicated a more serious development than was being let on. Which was why Amra was here.
He was a member of the little-spoken-about team of SpecOps units known as the SKWD. It had been formed by the late Emperor, Alaric. SKWD was an acronym in the ancient language of the Atlantean Isles: s'ggtha kaath wy'n davo'n, which roughly translated to "They Who Destroy Evil." They were second to none in two fields: accurately assessing info and killing those who were any kind of threat to Xeraph's interests. There were only two dozen "Squids", as they were nick-named by others. They were telempaths, both telepathic and empathic. There was little one could hide from them as both your thoughts and your emotions were as evident to them as speech and hearing were to everyone else.
And Amra didn't like what he was 'reading'...................

"Directer, Michal Lock Tarlag News Service. Is it true that Lord Nichols was turned over to your custody by a Paladin of the Knights of Ironhold and if true how did this happen?"
"Yes, that is true," replied Dwyer. "We are that Mr Nicolas be turned out to our custody for questioning. The Paladin are probably our closest contacts, so we called them in. Let it also be noted that Lord Nicolas has also been charged with statutory rape."
"Directer Dwyer I am sure you are aware that the Lords and the Grand Duke have reached an impasse over this alleged attack and the arrest of the most powerful of the Lords. If Requested by the Lords would you be willing to return Lord Nichols to Tarlag."

"He has been charged with aiding and abetting a terrorist act," replied Dwyer. "And the Northern Colonies does not have an extradition treaties with Tarlag. So that answer to that is no."

That this guy Lock wasn't who he claimed to be was patently evident to Amra. If he was a reporter, Amra was a sheepherder. 'A duality here', he thought. An imposter who was very good at maintaining a passive emotional state. Which in all probability meant that he was a psychopath. Adept at all things deceptive.
But he couldn't hide his thoughts...at least not all of them. Much darkness, destructive words. Knife, rope, pain. These were applied to the alternate part of the dual persona. And to a number of the participants in the room. Amra's knee-jerk response was to calmly walk up behind this "Lock" and garrote him before anyone was killed.
But he had to be sure. And he needed to find out where the real Mr. Lock was. Because HE wasn't who he claimed to be, either..............
"Directer Dwyer, A follow up question. According to my sources the Lords Councial has absolved Lord Nichols of the Statutory Rape Charges making his transport he illegal under Tarlagian Law. I have also heard reports that any statements made by Lord Nichols was made under duress and with out his lawyer present, hence inadmissible in most courts. How will you respond to those charges."

"Mr Nicolas waived his right for a lawyer to be present voluntarily," replied Dwyer. "I can not comment on the rest of the accusations as this is still an ongoing investigation."

Peter West of Tarlagian Independent News. Directer Dwyer, We have heard reports from certain areas of our Government that arms were found among the wreckage of the bombed Freedom Fleet ship. Also were the poor souls on that ship killed by the blast?

"Yes we have found weapons on the bottom of the ship," replied Dwyer. "However, at this point in time, we believe that the weapons have been planted, although we are chasing up on this lead. In regards to number killed, there were 12 killed, including John Itzon."
