When picking up a coin, if it is heads sign down you will have ten weeks of bad luck.

When praying, if you think or say the word "turtle" you will be tortured in the afterlife for all eternity.

If nervous, it is traditional to whistle the tune of the national anthem, as it cleares ones mind and makes one more curageous.

1. Should you slip and die on a slick of ice, it is assumed that you were in some way associated with the Communist Party.

2. If you use more energy than you need, you will be killed by ghosts. [In reality, if you can afford it (it's bloody expensive), the 'ghosts' won't touch you. If you can't afford it, you'll be evicted. If you're evicted, you don't have a home. If you don't have a home, you're likely going to stop working at your job. If you're unemployed, you are abducted and thrown into a forced labor camp.]

3. Should you ever come across a white falcon [very rare/national bird], it is said you will live to 100.

4. Kroandon's at death, are usually burned. Not for creamation... but in power plants for energy. The wealthy have themselves placed in a tub of water, taken outside of the city and frozen. They then have their block of ice placed in the 'Halls of the Dead' in the middle of the Great Ice Desert, a massive sub-surface catacomb hosting all of the Great Kroandon's. Each block of ice is placed inside a steel tomb slot, left for all eternity to remain as they were upon death. It is thought that when Kroando returns, the dead will also rise.

5. Sneezing an odd number of times is considered unlucky.

In South Lizasuaria all rapists are beleived to be demon-possessed and the reason they rape people is to spread the demons into the victims. Thats why the 'church of brotherhood' (South Lizasauria's Christian denomination that combines all knowledge with Biblical knowledge to glorify God) honor kills all rapists and their victims.

In some states stepping on another's foot or making a wrigly gesture with both your pointer fingers is a sign of sexual interest.

In the more educated states many guys beleive that shoving their hands down a sexy woman's pants will get her to like you.

In Reformer South Lizasauria it is beleived that women are meant to brin g in, nurture and protect life (motherhood, women tend to be liked more by nature while men tend to scare it away)

while men are meant to take it away (war, fighting, protecting women and children by killing off attackers, hunting)

Many Reformer's believe the dead watch over them.

In central Alacea, where most crops are grown, an old superstition is that in the mountains, the devil stalks the paths winding around the peaks when the moon is red, stealing people's souls. In the 18th century, when most farmers were uneducated, they would go as far as to gather in groups in a large house and bolt the doors to ensure their safety.

Jack-o-lanterns scaring away evil along with Khamsa amulets scaring away curses has been adopted by South Lizasaurian culture. Now people with large sticks with pumkins, garlic and all kinds of protective charms are seen regularly.

Some places are considered haunted or cursed and there have been multiple disappearances and paranormal happenings recorded in such areas.

If the infamous Lesbanian Queen from the First Grecian war is mentioned by name people in South Lizasauria do the same thing actors do when MacBeth is mentioned only they palm each other in the face instead of pinching the nose. And the words are tweaked to match the story behind the Lesbanian Queen and the South Lizasaurian Captian where their love affair started a conspiracy that initiated a genocide of the South Lizasaurian people. It was then that the humans saved the lizasaurs and decided to live together and start the Reformist movement.

Otagia

It's good luck to win a game of tag with an Avatar. Given that Avatars are virtually omniscient and can fly at supersonic velocities, this is considerably more difficult than it would seem.

Inadvertently damaging or destroying an Avatar is extremely bad luck, akin to breaking a mirror over a black cat while walking under a flaming ladder. This is partially due to the omniscient benefactor role Avatars play in Otagian society, partially from the illogical fear of retribution (impossible, of course, given the programming of Otagian AS programs), and partially from the growing amount of QUETZAL worshipers amongst the Citizenry (still in the minority, given the ridiculousness of such a religion).

Amongst children of the Citizenry, fear of non-Citizens is prevalent. Stems from a variety of sources, including but not limited to stories of abductions, a supposed lack of souls, and "cooties." The lack of souls option is not exactly discouraged by QUETZAL, given that the protection offered by Otagian law does not apply to non-Citizens, and Otagia steadfastly refuses to extradite Citizens (which would be a Second Law violation).

Having a cat as a pet is considered good luck. Great luck if the cat actually likes you.
