The day before...

Edward Forgul recieved a letter. He opened and read it. It stated that his application for Uiri to join the Confederation of Nations had been accepted. He walked towards his secretary.

"Please inform Uir Talavisin that Uiri has joined the confederate nations and that I will be having a press conference tomorrow to explain these actions," Forgul told his secretary.

He was going to give his first Press Conference in nearly a year. It would be a great opputrunity to speak to his nation and tell them about his plans for Uiri in the near furuture. His imperialistic plans...not that there was anything wrong with Imperialism. The Blue Party had been elected over the Green and Orangte Parties and he had been voted Minister-President. Uiri did need some colonies of its own. He wondered to himself if there was a nice island off the African continent he could take. Exclaves were always a wonderful thing.

Assassination Day

Edwrad Forgul was dressed in his dark blue suit and his favourite tie. The tie had alternating blue, green and orange stripes, just like the flag and just like the colours of the three main political parties. He walked onto the the stage where the podium was and began to speak.

"The Confederation of Nations has many of.."

He never got to finish his sentence. A loud shot was fired from a sniper rifle which landed in his neck, killing him. Someone could be heard cursing himself for fogeting a silencer. Alek Gunipo was right behind him. Alek picked up the scrawny general and said:

"This man has attempted a military coup. I shall kill him as at least 100 people saw him shoot Mr. Forgul. I shall then take control of this country as your leader!" Alek shot the man who shot Edward Forgul, "My first act is to withdraw Uiri from the Confederate nations!"

His words and actions were met with great applause. Little did they know, he had paid the man to shoot Forgul. Unfourtunately, the man hadn't been smart enough to add a silencer. The events were transpired to other nations in the following:

TO: Nations of the World
FROM: Alek Gunipo

Edward Forgul, former leader of Uiri has been killed in an attempted Coup D'Etat.
I have taken control and the perpetrator has been punished.
We invite you to Mr. Forgul's funeral.

"The plan is simple, really. We will support all sides in this conflict, and move our forces in to the region under the pretext of peacekeeping or security, and when they are all too weakened to feasibly fight back, our forces will move in. We will likely not be able to take the entire nation, but at the very least a trade city and a puppet state are assured."

"I assume the Praetor will be sent on this mission?"
"Of course, Proconsul. We will also provide him with some...resources, shall we say, to help him broker deals with all of the sides involved. A network of contacts is being built as we speak
"And if we fail at weakening the country?"
"Naturally, all-out economic warfare. Perhaps a blockade under the pretext of security, blockading all but the areas that are confidently under our control."

At 9:30 in the morning, the Praetor of Vetalia would depart for Uiri for the funeral of the late Edward Fogul. By nightfall, ideally, he would have contacted all of the forces involved separately and made them each an offer, an offer that they would likely not refuse. Little would they know, of course, that they were all being supplied just carefully enough to keep the fight balanced and to make each individual faction too weak to fight back on its own.

"Ah. Another friend of ours. Another land for pillaging."
Narcissus was sparring with General Maleficius.
"Indeed. I'll go to the funeral. We'll support Gunipo, of course?"
"Of course. Get to it."
Maleficius bowed and left the room.

Maleficius had boarded a plane to Uiri around 10am, and was hoping to meet with Gunipo before the funeral.

Day 1 after the Death of Edward Forgul
11:00 am
Gogari

Gunipo had recieved information that both people from Void Templar and Vetalia were going to attend the funeral. He did not know what to make of this information because he had not been in international relations before. Thankfully, he had been made dictator, at least on a temporary basis. How long he would be able to hold power would be dependant on other nations liking/disliking his policies and his citizens liking/disliking his policies.

The forigners were to arrive late that night and he did not want to disappoint them. In the meantime he would have to bring about a couple of radical changes. These included making the Television industry runned and owned by the government and forming his cabinet. The former was strange because it was for the first time in Uir history that television would be operated by the government. The latter was strange because he was only due to stay in power for a short time and so he didn't need a cabinet.

"Don't forget, I will be making a speech at noon," Alek reminded the secretary.

Noon
Gogari

"Hello, my fellow Uir. As you can see, the government has taken over all forms of broadcasting. This is so that no one can say anything bad about the government. The governemnt, and of course me, are doing the best job we can right now, being led by Jesus (OOC: Uiri is mostly Roman Catholic)and my own morals and ideals. Uiri will be come the best place to live on Earth. Won't that be nice?"

Alek ended the short speech before returning the program to "101 reasons why Alek Gunipo is the best leader in the history of Uiri". The personality culture was going nicely and soon everyone in Uiri would worship him. This was going to be the best year ever...for him and his fellow native Uir.

IC: Maleficius watched the Uiriuan TV over the jet's wide screen system and chuckled. This self-righteous programme was almost as funny as a true comedy.

The Praetor watched the broadcast from his hotel suite, slightly bemused by how easily his country's leaders and products fit in to the program. Within a few years, ideally, there wouldn't even be a Uiri even more...perhaps New Western Vetalia would be a more fitting title. Of course, all that mattered as that the country owned this market...

As the saying goes, if there's money to be had, a Vetalian will be nearby.

Somewhere along the Old Wall (SIC)

The men paced back and forth. It was a single squad of 7 men all ready to do their duty. This they would. It was a dingy square room about 30 feet by 30 Feet. In the corner there was a television. Counter ran along the walls and there was a telephone and several guns on it. Mostly FASM's and Scoped FBAR's with the occasional FMPM and FPM. Some people were just cleaning their weapons taking the parts apart applying grease and wiping it down and putting it together. A few chatted nervously. No one knew why they were here but Squad Leader (Tyolst) Uto had said they to be at ease. They followed the command as best they could.

The phone rang against the wall. It was old fashioned and still had a bell and it made a loud clacking noise startling some of the men. The Tyolst picked it up.
"Tyolst Uto there is a.... situation going on in Uiri."
"Sir what sort of situation sir?"
"The Abusive Capitalist Crack-pot Fascist Dictatorship kind"
"Seem to be more of those popping up lately ....... Sir."
"Eh, well this one is important to us as a previous member of the Confederacy and we want to bring them back into the fold."
"What do you want me to do sir?"
"Civil unrest stir the government. Ally with the loyalist if you must but if you can attempt to reform the government as Socialist."
"How are we to get in?"
"We have arranged transportation. You will act as body guards at the funeral of the previous leader. There our good representative will be "attacked" by one of you. You will used mock bullets that will simulate death. The Rest of you will "die" in the attack. The representative will escape and return to Fordock unharmed. He is to never know of this operation. Once you are dead you are to begin your careers as insurgents. Make sure you get the current government out of place soon. This is quite urgent."
"Sir yes sir."
"Proceed out of the room and take the transport for you. It will have the rest of the information needed to carry out this operation. Dismissed."
"Sir yes Sir."

The men were tense as the phone call went on. Eventually the Tyolst hung up the phone. He briefed the men and they moved out into the darkness. The Game was afoot.

In Sumetra

It was hard to be a diplomat some days Ruz thought as he sorted through papers. Today was one of those days and it was boring as rocks. Which is to say a lot. Nevertheless he carried out his duties faithfully and continue onward. Then the phone rung.

"You are to attend the funeral of the previous Uiri leader. You will be escorted by a squad of Special Forces troops to insure security. If you behave well you may eventually get and embassy. Be diplomatic and try not to fuck up too bad."

Before Ruz had a chance to reply the line was cut. He thought to himself with a tad bit of excitement "better get that letter out before it is too late. If I do well I could get a real position."

He got out pen and paper and wrote this letter.

The Principality of Fordock grieves at the loss of a great leader and hopes you can fulfill his previous role faithfully and as well. I will be attending the funeral of the man who has done so much in his lifetime for humanity. Again we express our condolences.

"Presidente Ramone, the leader of Uiri was killed in an attempted Coup. Certainly we must do something about this before the 'temporary' leader does anything that could send the nation into a donward spiral." Chief Enrique Jamez of the DIA (Deurem Intelligence Agency) told el Presidente.

President Ramone who was reading the intel report smirked at what he read. The 5'11 ft man then stood up and dropped the papers on his wooden desk. "Perfect." he said with a smile as he then walked turned to look at the open window behind him, as he did he motioned for the Chief to see what was outside.

Jamez did so and looked out the window of the presidents office and instantly knew what the President wanted to do.

"We shall bring freedom to our comrades in Uiri. No matter what..." Ramone said as he looked at the Platoon of Presidental Guards training below. Send a representive to the funeral and ready the Oil Brigade. They will finally see something else other than sand and bandits," with that the president returned to reading intel report.

"Hmmm.......this is not good," President Massaquine sighed. The recent events in Uiri were quite disturbing. Especially with the withdraw of themselves from the Confederate Nations.

"Shall I get a pen and paper for you sir?" the secretary asked.

"Yes please," the President responded, and he begain writing.

To the new government of Uiri,

I will personally attend the funeral that will take place, Edward Forgul was one of my friends, and I wish to see him one last time. But we find it increasingly suspicious of the withdrawment of Uiri from the Confederate Nations. But I digress, I may not get their for the early part of the funeral due to a meeting in Parliament. Apparently their is alot of fuss down their in the main building.

The president finished writing and went over to parliament, apperantly, the death of one of his friends would be the least of his worries........

First Day after the Assassination
14:00

Alek Gunipo recieved and personally read each and every letter. Of course, they would all be coming so writing a reply was an unnescessary task. He re-read each one, preparing his talk with the President, the Diplomat and the Representative.

"The letter from the Fordockian diplomat contains nothing but crap about Edward Forgul. He clearly has had no previous relation with Uiri or he would know how young Mr. Forgul was. Typical for an Uir leader but still.

Well, I'll continue what I liked about his work and discontinue what I disliked. Who cares about his work, I'm leader now.

Suspicion from joining the Confederate Nations? I didn't think of that but it doesn't matter, because the controversy was great and clearly the Zoingo, heh that's a funny name, president wasn't as good friends as he thinks or he only knew Edward Forgul as President Forgul and not as Prime Minister Forgul.

All these nations are just trying to seem compassionate about something they have no business in. They did not know about Ed's policies or they would not think as much as him, well maybe, but definetly not the Socialist Republic. Socialism...."

At this thought Alek made a disgusted face. Socialism and communism are the things which the general Uir populace hates the most, and because it is carried over from the natives as well as the Europeans, he should dislike it too. He would meet the Void Templarian sent here at Uiri International Airport as the response had been quick and it would be late when he arrived.

OOC: Void Templar, feel free to set the arrival time to anything after 19:30 or 7:30 pm.

Alek drove in his sleek UEM vehicle, the latest model which hadn't even come out to the general public yet, to the Air Port. He left the Blue & Green House at 6:30 or as he preferred, 18:30 in order to arrive at the Air Port at 19:00. He parked his car in the Diplomatic Personnel level and came to where the arriving private flight. There seemed to be a hold up at the entry point and Alek checked it out.

"We are sorry sir but white-skinned individuals are not allowed into Uiri anymore," the cutom told the General.

"Its ok, its ok. He's diplomatic personnel. He is here to attend the funeral to be held tomorrow. Let him through," Mr. Gunipo cleared things up and then muttered to the Templarian, "I suggest you attend the funeral and then leave the country. I do not take too kindly to people of the same race who have oppressed Uir tribes in the past. Your country is free to support me just keep whites out of the country." Alek had a hidden 92F Berretta on him in case anything got ugly.

Maleficius' eyes narrowed at the mans speech, but he nodded. His training told him to always obey national customs. He still had an urge to kill them, however.
"As you wish. It is your country, after all. However, we understand that a few others may be willing to take advantage of your country's recent loss. We could help, if you wished. It would all be kept quiet if you wished so."

Mia Morga woke up. It had been a long night for him. He got up and dressed and had his usual breakfast. This morning there was a letter to him, handed by his personal secretary, unopened. He opened and read it.
He was utterly shocked. He sadly asked the secretary to book a private jet for him to fly to Uiri right away. Edward Forgul had just died and he wasn't happy as they had been good friends. It was time to see him for the last time.

This morning Alek visited the air port. The close nation of Miamoria had sent their leader and the others who had been sent arrived as well. Gunipo was quite irked that Miamoria hadn't even sent a letter to warn him of the arrival. Some of the diplomats were held up like Maleficius had been but Gunipo was there to make sure the customs didn't mention it.

Gunipo had brought out the just-about-to-come-out model from UVM to accomodate all the diplomatic personnel. They were all driven personally by him and they all checked in at the five star Hotel Iter-Nasonal for the day.

Befoe they were sent about the business Alek informed them, "The funeral shall be held down the road at Leader's grave where the former French Governor was buried after Uir natives stomped the Governor's residence and killed him in the revolution of 1804. Be late and you will be deported...just joking," at this he smiled and let them be on their way. Once Mr Forgul was buried he'd be able to carry on his plans with no international interference.
