History

All history before the beginning of World War III is as it would be, the Ukraine was under Soviet control. The three main characters of mine are as follows and there stories explain history.

King Petru I of Gagauzia is the current ceremonial King of the Gagauzia region of Moldova, home to some eighty thousand people. Petru was a descendent of a former Romanian royalty and him and his family were exiled from Moldova in 1917 after the Soviets took power. They remained in Rome, Italy until 1962 and continued voicing their views that they were the rightful rulers of Romania and Moldova, and also became supporters of Italian Fascism and Mussolini, which meant they were nearly imprisoned after World War II. However, in 1945 they officially withdraw any support for Fascist movements. In 1962 after Soviet influence and power over much of their land had fallen Petru, then aged sixty-three and with four children and three grandchildren returned and claimed the Moldovan and Romanian throne, and power over the two countries.

However, the country was in disarray and refused to hear his calls, so he set up a ‘home’ in Palanok Castle located in Western Ukraine. Finally, in late 1963 hope for restoring the country and uniting the people was found when war hero Viktor Antonov announced himself as Supreme Premier of the Ukraine and Moldova (which he would later rename Russika). Pretru however was furious, as Communist society generally disliked religion, he was waiting for a great purge – Petru was a strong and life-long Orthodox, as where many in the southern parts of the ‘new’ Russika. And so he fled to the small region were the religion was most strong, Gagauzia, and in early 1964 started a religious uprising in that area, quickly overthrowing the small Russikan forces in the area. In May 1964 he proclaimed himself King of Gagauzia. But World War III had hit it’s most destructive peak and bandits and there sworn leader Viktor had taken nearly all land, and made a stand for Gagauzia.

King Petru and his forces faced an army that outnumbered them five to one, out-equipped them and had a hero of a Commander General. However, in an extradiontary turn of events, after two months of bloody battle an uneasy truce was called. Viktor could see Petru’s power over the Russian Orthdox’s of the South and therefore decided to use him to his advantage, and make him an ally, and to just not encourage religion within society. In December of 1964 Petru and Viktor met in Kiev to sign the Treaty of Kiev by which Petru would remain ceremonial King of his small lands, while Viktor ruled. Despite him getting only little power, Petru knew he could not survive another attack by Russikan forces, and accepted the deal. He now resides lavishly in his Comrat palace, and has homes in Kiev, Rome and Sevastopol (in the Crimea), and is the joint head and chief financial sponsor of the Russikan Eastern Orthodox Church, which nearly every religious person in Russika is a member of. He still lays claim to the Romanian throne.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Viktor Antonov is the current Supreme Premier of Russika and a war hero of both World War II and World War III, plus a respected and followed leader in Ukraine’s eyes. He was a young General in the Soviet counter-offensive of 1944 and believes in many of their former Communist ideals. He also helped defend the Ukraine from bandits, Americans and NATO during the third world war, giving him much respect from his peers. He turned fifty-five in January 1965.

Viktor is known as a cold and ruthless man but a born and determined leader. The people did not have anyone to follow, so when in 1963 he stood up and said he was brave enough to lead the Ukraine and Moldova, they followed his wishes, if only for the desire of a leader. He got permission from then living Nikita Khrushchev to guide Ukraine in his time when the world was in disarray. Since then he has defended the two countries, purging enemies, and rebuilding it from its fragile state of destruction.
In late 1964 he finally united the Ukraine by allowing a sector of Eastern Orthodoxy in the country in order to avoid civil war, though it is believed that he will run a Communist government, and plans to soon purge the leaders of the church. Currently, he is officially a strong Socialist bordering Communist.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Patriarch Yuli Berkovich is the joint head of the Russikan Eastern Orthodox Church. Whilst being the supreme religious man of the Church, Petru is seen as having more influence over its members. He also signed the Treaty of Kiev, returning to the Ukraine after being exiled as a young man to Romania. He is currently seventy years old, and is a co-operator with Antonov in order to keep peace within the country.

He is well known for trying to bridge the political north-south divide, the north being the atheist industrialized richer and more populous area and the south focusing on agricultural and religious activities.

"'Friendly attitude to other nations', wait till they meet you Viktor'. A voice said from across the large spacious but cluttered with boxes, dusty and dimly lit meeting hall in the former Soviet Party Building in the capital, Kiev.

"And the Patriarch. Berkovich is the biggest bigot I have ever known". Another snake like voice hissed across the room. These were two of the closest companions and political advisors of Viktor Antonov, the Supreme Premier. They were two discreet and menacing looking men, though the ones who saw them did not usually remember much. Viktor was the only one to know there real names.

The snaky one spoke again. 'They desire free trade, to be friendly. They are former NATO Scum...the French, however they were never America's true friend. We can only hope they have changed.'

Viktor considered all they had talked about carefully. Three hours had been spent deciding on how to go about answering a simple letter, but a letter that could see Russika draw away from its traditional Eastern allies. It was a new dawn though, no longer plagued by the Iron Curtain divide. He pondered his response, and asked his PA to write the formal reply.

THE WORKER’S REPUBLIC OF RUSSIKA

To Charles Boyer, President of Frankia,

Currently, after a meeting between Viktor Antonov and his close advisors, we are willing to accept an open market between our nations and an embassy exchange. However, in this world are resources, such as metals and fuel, are valuable to us, and we are hesitant to commit to free trade currently, though it is under consideration, and we will deliver our decision in due course.

Also, Patriarch Berkovich, the religious leader of the Russikan Eastern Orthodox Church has expressed concerns about your close ties to the New Papal Union, an organization he regards with suspicion due to its religious influence over nations governance. Whilst the Socialist government is the sworn power of the region, we must also take this powerful man's thoughts into consideration.

We however desire free trade at some point, and to improve relations in these dark times, and so would ask you to answer the following questions in order for us to assess whether our two nations could co-operate and become close in the future, as we see you as a possible ideal Western ally:

1) Are you loyal to any international organization (including a religious one)?
2) Are you a supporter of a new Western Order, like NATO?
3) What is your government type (parliamentary democracy, socialist etc.)?
4) What are your most tradable and desirable resources?

Thank you,

We here in the State of Gilbraltar wish to send to the Worker's Republic of Russika an offer. This would strengthen diplomatic relations. The details are below:

1. Embassy Exchange
2. Possible Consulate Exchange
3. Signing of a Free Trade Agreement

The Free Trade Agreement would entitle all/any Russikan ships to enter through the Strait of Gilbraltar, paying a discount of $100 tax per ton towards the tonnage of the craft. However, a customary inspection would still be necessary.

OOC: I edited it-I made the SOG offer thing to a reduction of $500 per ton. Not free, however.

THE WORKER’S REPUBLIC OF RUSSIKA

President of the Republic of Caucausia. Serzh Kapanadze,

We are currently highly interested in seeing improved relations between our nations, both formerly under Soviet rule. Therefore, we are open to your suggestions of establishing diplomatic relations, we assume this means the opening of an embassy within your country. We accept this, you may have one in Kiev, and we hope in the future, our nations, with our similar practices, can become diplomatically closer.

Kas, if you offer to supply food as well, I'll agree with that. By that, I mean we trade for what we haven't got - for example, let's say I have lot's of potato's, but no carrots, and you have tons of carrots but no potato's, we trade what's needed. It'll help food shortages of certain products, and some produce will grow in your climate that won't in mine and vice versa.

And VDB, I'll accept you too if you agree to what I just said to Kansiov about food, and don't expect any gas or oil. :)
