CTNN brings you the following news:

Megacorporation takes control

CTNN, government enclave Servaya – The last remaining government enclave in the Incorporated States of Consumer Technologies, formerly known as the Republic of Servenia, has finally been handed over to the megacorporation Consumer Technologies. Today, the final deadline for the former government to pay off its debt to CT passed and, as part of the contract signed 50 years ago, had to relinquish control of Servaya to CT. Government representatives were well aware of the approaching deadline, but were unable to acquire the funds needed to pay off what remains of the once massive debts. A brief ceremony was held for the transfer of the enclave to the corporation.

About 70 years ago, it became clear that the Republic of Servenia was sliding towards an economic disaster that would have crippled the nation and sent it into a downwards spiral of ever increasing poverty through constant economic mismanagement and improper governing in general. Although Republic officials were aware of the problem even then, they were unable to avert the economic crisis and the socialist democracy proved an abysmal failure. For years the former Republic let the economy degrade and allowed the nation to build up enormous debts. Fortunately, the megacorporation Consumer Technologies stepped forward 50 years ago with a proposal to purchase the debts in exchange for an active role in the government. As the years passed by, the Republic, now indebted to CT only, had to give more and more ground to the megacorporation, forced to conclude that only CT had the resources and the qualifications to solve the crisis. Yet 2 years ago, what little remained of the former Republic refused to accept the inevitable and did not give CT what was due, claiming they still had enough time before the final deadline to settle the debt. During those years, the formed Republic tried as hard as it could to hold on to the enclave of Servaya, the last that remained of the Republic of Servenia, but failed to collect the needed funds. Finally, 70 years after the nightmare began, the deadline passed and the remaining government officials had no choice but to relinquish complete control of the Servaya enclave to CT.

“This is a great day for all us. For those in Servaya because they will no longer be the last victims of the Republic’s failing and for everyone else because the Republic can no longer run from its mistakes. This is a great day, a day of symbolism, a day of pride and a day of truth.”
Said a representative of CT to this newspaper. It is clear that CT has been waiting for this day for quite some time and at last the nightmare ends even for those in Servaya. Yet not everyone is willing to face reality, as some officials of the former Republic displayed sadness over the situation. Trey Fardock, the last president of Servaya, had the following to say:
“It is a shame the last bastion of democracy in Servaya dies today, but we have no choice. If we were to violate the contract, we’d certainly be attacked and we are simply no match for the corporation anymore. But I am confident the people will take back what is theirs eventually.”
Regardless of Fardock’s accusation, CT never threatened to use any force whatsoever against the Servaya enclave, people are mostly unaffected by his words. One of the citizens present at the ceremony at Servaya said:
“Aye, I think it’s a good thing. I mean, we’ve known for ages the Republic did a bad job and it’s good to see they’re finally admitting to that.”

Today, the Republic of Servaya is no more and the Incorporated States of Consumer Technologies are finally complete.

Naturally, we hope such a pro-business government as yourselves will recognize the merits of opening your country to investment by our nation by granting us favorable trade concessions relative to other foreign nations. No doubt we have considerable need of the products your nation produces, and no doubt you have need of ours, which include many of the most advanced and highest quality consumer goods in the world as well as some of the best performing securities. Our commercial paper is top notch, and it would not be hard to imagine a very successful public offering of your stock on the VCSE.

In addition, we have billions of rubles in investment from financial institutions across the nation that are eager to begin purchasing equity in your companies and to build up our own brands in your nation. Specifics of our deal can be discussed further once we have some confidence in your interest. The profits that cooperation between our nations, and our businesses, will generate are very significant, especially for a rapidly growing nation such as your own.

Alfegos congratulates the national reform, that will hopefully be for the better. of its citizens. HOwever, the new government is warned that any removal of democracy will face international hostility.

All decisions regarding national policy and law will from this point on be taken by the members of the Board and them alone. Democracy has proven itself a miserable failure and Consumer Technologies will not risk another economic disaster because of such a system. If this disturbs you, then we wish to remind you that the entire process was completely legal and any attempts by the former Republic to retain its lands would have been a breach of contract. Neither should you be worried about too much power ending up in the hands of a single individual, since each Board member has equal voting power and all decisions are made by a vote of the Board.

Peoples´ republic of Burlovia is conserned about the well-being of Servayan people, because capitalism means only taking money from poor to the rich. We believe that the change of power should be discussed before handing the power to a more or less moral corporation.

Rather than accuse Consumer Technologies, which has saved the nation from economic ruin at the hands of an incompetent government, we suggest that the Republic of Burlovia instead blames the former Servenian government. It is they who failed. The decision has been discussed enough. The contract had been signed long ago and the matter is closed.

You have a deal. The Vetalian market is over 7 billion strong and has a per-capita income of over $70,000, and demand for new consumer products is quite strong given our most recent economic upturn. Your company will find abundant opportunities for profit in our state, and is permitted to list itself on our stock exchange and to purchase land for the construction of offices and facilities throughout the country.

We hope our nations can prosper from this arrangement, and we will inform the Chamber of Commerce and other institutions of this decision forthwith.

President Fardock arrested

CTNN, New Yershire – Today since 03:00 former president Fardock has been placed under arrest for undermining the government’s authority, instigating riots and instigating violence against Consumer Technologies. Police have long suspected Fardock of having contact with and supporting underground elements whose purpose is to destabilize the legitimate CT government and bring harm to the nation. Today, the police decided enough evidence had been accumulated and arrested the culprit so that he may stand trial for his crimes.

A government taskforce is said to have observed Fardock’s movements and communications since even before the Servaya enclave was handed over to CT. A spokesman from the police stated that “Fardock had been working with criminals against the people for several years, even before Servaya was handed over. Afterwards he continued his underground activities against the corporation and made contact with several dangerous criminals.” According to the police, they accumulated much evidence by monitoring Fardock’s phone calls and internet activity and linked him to several dangerous and highly violent characters in the underground. When a SWAT team raided the house of the former president, they found numerous weapons and explosives, believed to have been meant for the underground to conduct terrorist activities against the people of the Incorporated States of Consumer Technologies. In addition to the materials found in his house, evidence has also been found on Fardock’s computer, indicating that the former president was spreading documents over the internet encouraging people to undertake violent actions against CT institutions and employees. Fardock is expected to stand trial sometime next week.

OOC: The saga continues. And as you may have guessed, CTNN (Consumer Technologies News Network) is under the control of the corporation and might be a tool to spread propaganda.

OOC: The nation's borders aren't closed at all, so capable men should be able to smuggle in weapons through landroutes or the ports. As for contacting the resistance, that is something one of your agents would be able to do via members of the former government. Although Fardock is in reality innocent, some of the others are not and do have ties with the underground. Of course your agent could also contact local crime syndicates and see if they can put him in touch with the underground.

If you want, you can smuggle in goods and even agents to help the underground, just don't supply them with any WMDs. You should expect for the new government to find out about such arms shipments. CT will not be able to discern the source of the weapons (at least not for a while), but the corporation will found out someone is supplying weapons to the underground.

Secondly, we have heard that you are having problems with rebels in your nation - we understand, the Undershi military is used to fighting rebels and insurgents. We have a policy of ensuring that all Undershi soldiers undergo live-fire counter-insurgency opperations as part of their training - however, due to our successes, we are running out of home-grown terrorists and rebels to hunt, so we are feeling the need to expand overseas in terms of our training operations - we offer you an Expeditionary Force, consisting of the 1st Urban Ranger MOUT division, the 122nd IIS Storm Trooper division and the 19th Heavy Infantry division. This Expeditionary Force would assist your own security forces in hunting down rebels, with no charge.

We hope you accept our offers, and that you show interest in the Corporate Alliance.

Encrypted Communique to Undershi:

From the Board of Consumer Technologies,

We accept your offer of weapons sales, though we will not be making many such purchases since much of our arms are manufactured by CT itself. Still, we are greatly interested in new weapon systems and new weapons technology and would gladly acquire these things from you. In return, we would like to offer to sell you chemical and biological weapons from our special corporate divisions should you be interested in these type of weapons, at a reduced price of course.

We also accept the offer of military aid and will gladly make use of your troops to hunt down undesirable elements within our society.

Joining the Corporate Alliance is also being taken into consideration, though at this time we must decline. As we understand it, membership of the Corporate Alliance would mean that Consumer Technologies would have to participate in its military conflicts with less economically free nations. Although we do not object to this, at this time Consumer Technologies is not ready for war, since CT has no nuclear capabilities at this time to act as a deterrent to invaders who might consider CT a target after joining the Alliance.

A black Chevrolet Suburban rolled across the border of CT with little trouble. Aside from minor passport confusion, it went smoothly. The four men, apparently tourists from Credonia, were expressionless as they pulled up to their first stop: the home of the former Secretary of State (I'm assuming you have one, if not just fill in the equivilant). Stepping out of the vehicle, they casually walked to the door and rang the doorbell. Two of them reached into their suit jackets, checking their DSP .40 caliber pistols. Another was observing the surrounding area while pretending to admire the hedges, ensuring they weren't being watched. The fourth waited at the door, holding a reinforced Halliburton briefcase. All of them were dressed in black and wore polarized sunglasses.

The Board appreciates your offer and would very much like to engage in an embassy exchange to further relations between our nations. However, we must decline your offer to deploy 200.000 of your troops onto CT soil as we feel it it simply too many and are quite able to defend ourselves.

We would like to talk about building new factories. We have recently tripled in size and value and are going on an expanisionist period.

Your nation may be good for building a small arms factory. We need many untrained workers who can learn the skills to assemble everything from our new flagship rifle the AK-165 Grendel, to the advanced ZM-06 Laser Dazzler.

We offer health plans and a base pay of 4.70 USD per hour and 1 week paid vacation and an average of 100 USD Christmas Bonus.

OOC: how easy would it be for a small special forces squad to sneak into nation, break President Fardock out of jail and safely extract him from the country? Like what is the security around his jail/jail cell?

President Fardock found guilty

CTNN, New Yershire – After several weeks of a long and tiresome trial, the truth has finally been revealed and the judge’s verdict is in: guilty of all charges. Much of Fardock’s treachery was brought to light as the massive amounts of evidence, ranging from testimonies of agents entrusted with the task of surveillance to the weapons and explosives found in the former president’s home. At the end of the trial, it had become clear Fardock did not only have contacts with criminal underground elements but even intended to actively support their mission of death and terror both by supplying them with weapons as well as by recruiting new people for their cause. Evidence found on Fardock’s computer indicate that he had many of such contacts over the internet as well and was even involved in the planning of several future operations which targeted not only CT installations and employees, but civilians not affiliated with CT as well.

Fardock himself seemed generally unphased throughout the entire trial and the judge took this as a lack of remorse. The judge added that “since Fardock is unwilling to admit to the crimes he committed against, I take it that that means he would do it all again and do so gladly. Therefor, I find him guilty of all charges and find that he must pay the highest price.”. For his terrorist activities and utter disrespect for human life, Fardock is to be executed by hanging. In the mean time, he will be detained in an isolation cell in a high security prison in the capital. His execution has been scheduled for some time next week.

Nicoli looked over the shady character, nothing he hadn't dealt with before.

"well what do you got? I'm looking for something new? "

"Well, what's new depends on what you've tried so far. Right now, I'm selling cocaine, heroine, XTC, PCP. And I assure you, my good man, that it's all high quality stuff. Guaranteed to blow your mind away."

OOC: how easy would it be for a small special forces squad to sneak into nation, break President Fardock out of jail and safely extract him from the country? Like what is the security around his jail/jail cell?

OOC: Very difficult, especially if your squad has only recently been preparing for the raid. Fardock is considered a high priority target by CT because he is/was a political figurehead and the corporation will be keeping a close eye on him. Fardock is currently in a high security prison and his execution is due next week, so I don't think your special forces will be able to do this, especially not on such a short notice.

"Lets see this XTC and some coke. Coke is my usual but im willing to see what this XTC can do."

Lets skip the formalities. We represent the political and military arm of a world spanning crime organization collectively known as the Red Mafia. We wish to further our aims of profit and control of the world's black market.

We want to know if we can help you in any way to further our goals. Perhaps we fight your rebels to secure arms factories?

SIC Reply:

The Greater Empire of Undershi accepts your proposal, however, some Undershi troops will need to be reassigned to assist Blackhelm in defeating its rebels.

We will send the 122nd IIS Storm Trooper division and the 19th Heavy Infantry division, but the 1st Urban Ranger MOUT division must be reassigned.
