Okay, I'm sure this has been done before, but this is my attempt at it. This will be a FT University/Academy. It was built, by and for, Xiscapians only, but has recently opened it's doors to the rest of the Universe. It is staffed by either Xiscapian or Alversian teachers, on many subjects. These range from regular classes, such as history and science, to the more unusual, such as stealth, hand-to-hand combat, and weapons firing. The Rose Academy accomidates both normal civilians and military men and women. However, it is mainly a military academy. The Rose Academy is open to all races and peoples. It is located on Xiscapia, in the city of Lune.

Rules:
1. Follow the rules.
2. Absolutly no Godmodding/Wanking. (i.e. "I pass every class without studying because I am smart/because I can read minds, ect. Some work will be involved.)
3. No attacks on the Academy. Non-lethal Combat in classes is alright, as is the occasional schoolyard fight, but no huge armies coming to wipe the Academy off the face of the planet.
4. While I will let you control the other NPC students and the teachers, don't do anything off the wall with them. I don't want to see any teachers trying to kill someone, or dying of random heart attacks.
5. You can have a maximum of 3 people on campus. If you like, you can RP a teacher, student, cafeteria worker, whatever.

History of said person:
Ian Cavourna is the son of Alexander and Jennifer Cavourna. He was born in Illesia when his father had some shore leave to visit his wife and child. Ian attended the prestigious Sanagrin Military Academy in Illesia, where he won a Major in piloting and sniper skills. He was immediately enlisted into the Alversian Naval Air Force following his graduation and was promptly placed in Trezan Academy of the Elite, where he was learning to be an Officer. Instead he was transfered, at the request of his father, to the Academy of the Rose in order to build close relations with those he would most likely be fighting beside.

He is a highly talented and gifted pilot, but he is sometimes arrogant about his ability and often makes mistakes as a result of his inexperience.

Several IC thread will be coming up shortly. The first will be a general assembly on the first day of classes. I was going to start out with a universal class (i.e., a class everyone has) but not everyone has the same class. Therefore there will be a thread for every class. Some classes, such as Stealth and The Way of the Sword, will be taught by the same teacher. Therefore Stealth and The Way of the Sword will be taught in the same thread. There will also be a Study Hall thread for random talk and ect. Here's a list of classes and their teachers*:

Question - are students rrequired to live on campus, if so what are the dorms like. Are they allowed to have their own vehicles? If required to live on campus, are they allowed to leave campus on week days? etc

I know that many military universities/ academies don't allow students to live off campus, or to bring their vehicles, or to leave campus save on weekends/ holidays - also most require uniforms.
While uniforms are not required, all students are not allowed to leave campus barring an emergency. They are allowed to leave on weekends, on any of the twelve Xiscapian Holidays (detailed in my Factbook), or any religous/biological reason that would make them leave campus. Maximum amont of time off campus for a non medical reason is 1 week. The students are allowed to have their own vehicles, but these are not to be driven on campus except when leaving or entering. The dorms range from any 1 of 3 different types, depending on how much money you payed to get in. The first is a minimum income room, which is small with a bunk bed, a desk, a small holo screen and bathroom. The regular rooms are somewhat better. These are larger, with a bunk, two desks, a bathroom, a meduim-sized holo screen and a tiny kitchen. The last is the Luxery dorm room. This has two seperate beds, bathrooms, and desks. It has a large holo screen in a spacious living room, which has a coutch and two soft chairs. All rooms have two roommates in them. THESE ARE NOT SEGREGATED BY SPECIES OR GENDER UNLESS THERE IS A SPECIFIC REASON TO.(I'm looing at you, NC) Students may apply to switch rooms at any time, provided they are switching to the same class of room and there is a fellow student who wishs to switch also.

Isa, accepted, except you'll have to leave the guards outside campus and turn in all weapons on the student's person (unless it is there for a religous or cultural reason, like the Xiscapian's Katanas. While a uniform is not required, bodyarmor cannot be worn on campus. Fix these things (or RP them that way) and I'm cool with it.

I'll gladly have to leave the Duena outside, in an penthouse apartment some where for Indigo to go on weekends, Xiscapian holidays and the few religious holidays mandated by Novan law.( The Divine's, the Shogun's, the Taiko's and her own Natal Day and First Day ).

However we have a small problem concerning the Wraith, in that his presence is required by law - and worse Tradition - but we can solve that, if it is okay with you, Xiscapia, by simply enrolling the Wraith in the exact same classes that Indigo has, so he can attend with her -

( Wraiths are a form of Kami, and some are kitsune but this elder is beyond that.) He speaks little, does not apparently carry any sort of weapon, but one can appear in his hand at the speed of thought should he need one.

Pandaren are extremely intelligent, so I don't think a Pandaren would be there as a student... maybe a foreign teacher... teaching exotic classes like Pandarian hand-to-hand combat (mix between aikido and drunken boxing, involves drinking certain quantities of alcohol... is said to be one of the most effective and dangerous arts in the universe, not only for the opponent but also for the fighter himself...), piloting and driving, weapons handling (swordsmanship, staff, spear and knife-combat, as well as handling small melee weapons like throwing knifes and shurikans etc...), speed and reflex development, stealth courses, as well as harnessing the forces of nature (for magic/force users and students with psionic/telechinetic abilities). Everything a lá Pandarian drunken boxing method of course...

That's what a Pandarian teacher would be able to teach students. I could bring in a team of teachers, but one single Pandaren master would not only be able to teach all those courses, but would also be easier to RP... your call... although I might be a little inactive due to RL issues (studying) I think I might be able to contribute something to your academy... :)

FYI: Pandaren use Nemesis Force weaponry/blades etc. which have enourmous power and are fine-tuned to their owners psychic abilities, thus can't be used by anyone else. So it's up to you if my teacher should only teach combat tactics with average weaponry, or also let students have the possibility to use Pandarian weaponry...

Adding target practise, as Indigo needs to keep up her skills. Weapons will not be used save in emergency to save self or others.

LOL Kai will not just be attending classes - they are too novel an idea for him just to sit and watch. No Wraith has ever gone to school before.

He joined the Vilyan Phoenix Guard Acadeny were he meet Arka a Martial Arts master in Vilyan old and new martial arts and other foreign martial arts were he taught chris. Hovercrafts are the most commonly used ground vehicles, although 80% of all traffic is air. Rarely you'll see a wheeled car, but they are uncommon. You are on the continent of Padga in the summer at the moment. Temperatures now range from 60 to 85 degrees fahrenheit, so light clothing is advised. Is will get much colder, well below freezing, in the winter, so be sure to pack or buy the appropriate clothes. Angaor, accepted, and Telros, although I thank you for bringing that to my attention, if you have nothing to contribute to this RPG, butt out.

The Isle of Pandaria, I don't allow any magic in my RPGs save for the Force and any psychic/telepathy abilities your character may have been born with. "Harnessing the forces of nature" as you put it, is something every Xiscapian can do naturally due to their close connection with the elements. If you want a position at the Academy as a teacher you may co-teach along any of the teachers already in place.

Sure... co-teach sounds ok... although I was rather hoping for a position as teacher of something ressembling 'foreign arts' or something like that... something extra that students can choose free-will...

What I find highly amusing is all these military wonderkunds who are so lethal and are only 16 to 19 years of age. It may look pretty in a manga, but in anything resembling real it just makes me wonder.

They might be considered adults, but biologically? A child at 13 does not have the build- bone, and muscle-, or the intellect - of some one 18 to 22 years of age. They are not as strong, and despite higher energy levels, don't have the stanima an person 5-7 years their elder has. They also have the not so small problem of homonal surges and growth spurts.

Please don't give me comparrisons to such people as the spartans and other 'early age' warriors - they didn't have one tenth as much to learn as even a modern soldier ( much less a FT one ) needs to learn to be effective on the battle field - much less of peace time and civilian matters.

If you are in high school right now, think about it for a moment - you have to take all the classes you already take then add say just three more hours of classes aday - tactics, military ethics, weapons etc ( the list of military subjects is as nearly endless as any universities curriculum ) When would you have time for anything but school and home work - no recreational time left over at all really. Think you'd put up with it for long?

And you have to have a good basic education to truly absorb a miliarty one atop it/ along with it. Age three for the physical training that forms the basis of advanced hand to hand combat, sure, no problem, but a child's brain needs to learn 'how to learn' and learn the knowledge basics before hey go on to advanced subjects. And please don't say they need to learn nothing but combat. Modern combat is far more than just being able to shoot a rifle and throw a grenade, even for your average grunt. And for a nocom or an officer - well I am sure there is a classic quote about all an officer needs to be able to do and know - I am highly tempted to Modern Major General, but I'll refrain.

It would cut thought the training swords easily, and it's mass and weight is significantly different from a normal sword, but it'll do. Your average Xiscapian's katana is made of Cortosis, which can stand up to even a lightsaber.

Just a few questions-since Dominic, Pat, and Gerrak heading to the cafeteria, should we do a Cafeteria thread as not to interfere in History, or should we continue? Also, will a link to Pandaran Martial Arts be provided on the OP, or should I dig for it in the Assembly thread?
I would also ask a link to the Xiclapian Factbook be provided in the History Class thread as you would be giving out textbooks or textdatapads, as the case may be. I don't mind studying, but since a typical Academy would provide books, I'd just ask not to have to be doing a lot of extraneous research for what is, after all, an offtime pursuit

Bryce was raised from infancy to become one of the best warrioirs in the galaxy. At age 12, he recived the same agumentations as the Binarian Guard, transforming his body into a machine chisieled for war. His bones are almost unbreakable, his strength vastly increased, his reaction times cut by a factor of 10, which were already heightened by the force. By age 14, he had completed his training and was moved along to the Binarian Knights where his force powers were trained to the same degree as his body and mind. He exelled in melele, and lightsaber combat. Other areas expertise include demolition, computer hacking and programing, repair, tatics and strategy,touture and interigation, and word proccessing. I started right where the extracurricular conversation in history left off, so if others join an out of class romp, perhaps they should tag who's involved as not to get others kicking in and to avoid confusion-I've had busy threads elude me entirely

Me again-just wanted to mention a few things, cultural notes, for the Open Dorm thread. Gerrak is a troll, and this matter is of great importance to him-he must get his house in order before he can openly socialize, so there are a few rituals he must attend to before going to Indigo's party.
Firstly, he must summon the spirits of Darkness to protect his abode-he's already doing this, so it's just a religeous thing to the Xiscapians-though Kai might be affected in some obscure manner.
Second, his dormmate will be exposed to the troll Ritual of Cohabitation-it begins simply enough-Gerrak will toss a sheet over the person with the ritual phrase "I extend my darkness to protect you." This is a serious matter for trolls, as it technically makes Gerrak responsible for feeding and upkeep of the dormmate-he will then pick the sheeted individual up, carry them into the room, and uncover them. He will point out their sleeping quarters, then do three circuits of the room, pointing out things and saying "Don't touch that!" To the troll mind, this is exquisite etiquette, avoiding conflict.
The first circuit involves things the troll will kill over-for Gerrak, his spirit drums and the fetish statues of his gods.
The second circuit are things the troll will fight over-for Gerrak his weapons and a few momentos from home.
The third circuit are those things he'd rather not have touched, but are negotiable-his calender(the troll year consists of seven months of seven weeks of seven days-his calender is a wallhanging of three strips of wood with seven holes and pegs placed to indicate month, week, and day), his schoolbooks, and his collection of jewelry-armbands, anklets, and necklaces reflecting significant moments in his life. For especially close friends, those with a familial relationship, it is also tradition to leave something out and wait for the individual to reach for it, then smack their hand and say "I meant that, too." However, I doubt that will come into play as he's just met these people.
After the ritual circuits, Gerrak will feed the individual from his private store-in this case, some delectable raw dwarf he's kept for just this purpose. Once the person eats, the Ritual is concluded and the home is safe.
Anyone who wishes to submit themselves to this need but show up, then the party can be attended.

Thank You for your kind words regarding Pamaltela and troll culture. I wanted to show there was more to the Muri than Darksense, speed, and strength, and the fact I've got one person wanting to go to Pamaltela shows I succeeded.
While a diplomat would be welcomed, it's doubtful he'd get to soak up much culture as his time would be divided between the Ordo Drakul(diplomats/Foreign Affairs) and the Ordo Argan Argari(trade). I will continue to put cultural notes in the Diplomacy class as it relates to the class, and will avidly read any such posts from other students. That is the primary reason for Diplomacy, after all-to interest others in befriending your culture.

I can try a picaresque, but I warn you in advance-the kitsune ambassador will be bothered constantly by attempts to get colonization rights to Regalis and Korrallia, as well as offers to provide mercenaries to any military actions ongoing at the moment. Troll society is strictly segregated outside of matrimony, so Indigo and Kai would have to either produce a marriage license or endure a matronly chaperone for their time there. I know Kai could assume a female form, but troll shamans see the Spirit Realm simultaneously with the physical, and they wouldn't be fooled by the ploy. The intrigues of the Orders aren't children's games, and trolls are both ruthless and brutal. By doing this, you would find yourselves caught as pawns by this faction of that, sometimes for very petty stakes.
That said, I'm game if you are.

Wraiths appear on their own to be guardian to an individual person. The more Wraiths that show up means, or so even most of the those of the Divine One's court believe, the more importance the person will have in the affairs and future of the Celestial Imperia. And Matrimony with in Novan culture does not necessarily mean what it does in other cultures / socities, Indigo and Kai would certainly have no trouble producing a marriage liscense... in fact I am having plott kittens nibbling at my toes...

Apart from an execution every few months or so. Due to this strange "disappearance" of Aitmatov from the public eye, a few conspirators say that he was assassinated and replaced by someone else. This theory was then canceled when he was shown at a press conference earlier this year.

Civil war hasn't happened yet. It will happen while you are at the Academy, a series of terrorist attacks will be carried out on multiple Xiscapian worlds, moons, and starbases. Another attack, aimed at non-kitsune, will happen at the Academy. But that's for later. Basically, the terrorists are extremists who've managed to gather a lot of power, and a full-scale war begins. But that hasn't happened yet, and won't happen for a while now.

I thought I would include this guide for those unfamiliar with trollish Darksense. It is a form of passive sonar, very fine-tuned(a troll's hearing is sharper than a bat's, and covers a wider spectrum) which means trolls generally describe things by texture as much as by visual dimensions, and very rarely by color (and, in fact, I highly recommend that all non-trolls forgo using any color description given by a troll, since they may well simply be making it up, or associating a color with a texture type). Refer them to the "texture spectrum" below:

Darso (DAR-so)means a smooth item, like bronze armor or a beetle shell.

Engoso (en-GO-so)means rough; typically an item with minor variations in texture or surface angle. Oddly, when making comparisons trolls may refer to an object as "darso engoso," "roughly smooth," as opposed to a rougher or smoother object.

Gogoso (go-GO-so)could be considered to mean fuzzy like rough wool, but also refers to rough water. Furry animals are usually gogoso, although human hair is often engoso or darso in some cases.

Goneso (go-NEH-so) is an item so rough that a troll can see its prescence, but cannot exactly discern what the surface texture looks like.

Nedaso (NE-DA-so)is a hollow object, "only partly there," while neso (NE-so)means gone -- the troll can see the object with its eyes, but not with its dark sight.

Tagtagso (TAG-tag-so)is the wet feel of a submerged item, while tagdarso (TAG-dar-so)is a slick item. A creek bottom is tagtagso,while a wet rock is tagdarso.Some wet items are somtimes referred to as tag-: a fuzzy but wet item is sometimes called tag-goneso (TAG-go-NEH-so),though not all trolls do this.

Orso (OR-so)translates as "sticky" -- objects that are within a troll's dark sight but fail to give a proper image because it "keeps" the dark sight. Some Force tech items are orso.

Klo'oso (klo-O-so)translates as "masked" -- objects that are visible in dark sight, but which have an appearance different than from what it should be (or, in a fewer set of cases, are different from what is visually seen). Some Force items are klo'oso,and someone possessed by a spirit may also be klo'oso.

Roso (RO-so)means bendy, an object sensed as the dark sight reflects off another object. Any reflected object is roso;some trolls may describe it by suffixing this behind the description of the item: e.g., darso-roso.

Note that trolls often use other terms as well. Common objects are often used as local frames of reference -- during recent feuding between the trolls and the bison riders of Prax it became quite fashionable among trolls to refer to things as being textured like a bison's hide.
While it is indeed true, as suggested to me by a troll, that the tongue is a superb tactile instrument and can be used to "feel" textures more finely than one's hands, remember that the trolls are often forgetful about human sensitivities to poisons and acids (or, indeed, are displaying their crude sense of humor).
