Perimeter Defense's mercenary season begins with a bang!

Captain Marissa Yttrich Fighter pilot "sniper"

Captain Yttrich is the only one among the mercenaries of Perimeter Defense to come with her own specialized equipment. A legend within PD's air force, she purportedly has the ability to ID a plane with her naked eyes at distances at which most would start thinking about arming AMRAAMs. Her modified F-35 comes with an upgrade from the traditional GAU-12 Equalizer rotary cannon, which is the GMA-47 Hammerhead single-barrel repeater. Firing 40mm rounds at only 1,200 rounds per minute, the Hammerhead makes up for its lack of rate of fire with its accuracy, capable of making groupings with a 3cm drift at 900 meters. The GMA-47 has a range of 4.7 kilometers, and Yttrich is known as the Sniper Pilot because of her maximization of the range. She engages targets with the cannon at ranges that most would consider to be BVR.

While she is good with the cannon, and effective with missiles as well, Yttrich sacrifices maneuvering skills for her weapon power. She is best at long-range, obviously, for kills that do not need a single activation of the radar, and without the need for close contact with enemy interceptors.

Aleksei Korovin began his life in the military at the tender age of 14, where he proved himself by killing 72 Bigtopians - at the time mortal enemes of the Federation - over a period of nine hours, as he was pinned down in his house during a minor urban center invasion. Korovin had watched as his parents were shot and killed, his siblings riddled with bullets, but most of all he had watched the bolt action rifles that clanged with heavy metal engagements, and the stocks mounted on shoulders that supported them. When he was given an opportunity, he ran out and took a dead Bigtopian's rifle and stacks of ammunition, whereupon he began shooting the foreign soldiers with impossibly rapid target acquisition and aiming. They hit him with artillery and smoke grenades, but they never caught him. Each one of his shots went home.

Korovin today is a retired general, but recently he has been longing for the thrill of the hunt. His sniper statistics were the basis of re-opening the case of the assassination of former PD state security advisor Madison Avery. He has a naked-eye target ID range of 500 meters, average target acquisition time of 42 milliseconds after first-pass detect, and average headshot/critical aiming time of 0.81 seconds. His maximum known open sight range is 1,400 meters, and his scoped range at 4x power is 2,400 meters. Out of 7,396 total reported targets, he has hit 7,393. Of these, two did not die because of his failure to hit a critical point. A third did not die but that was because of instructions to disable only. His accuracy is often within 0.4 seconds of arc of the scope FOV.

DEEP SWORD is one Perimeter Defense's sentient battlefield commander AI systems. Linked to every soldier on the battlefield, DEEP SWORD gathers information on enemy tactics through firsthand accounts of their actions, and suggests or coordinates friendly maneuvers accordingly. Operating on both HUD/console readouts and voice interaction, DEEP SWORD is effective with armor and infantry use against the enemy. It is primarily efficient against bulky superior forces that lack armor support. For all its advantages, however, DEEP SWORD is unable to efficiently compensate for air presence, due to hard programming for terrestrial combat affairs.

DEEP SWORD is available for outsource usage by buying nations. Requirements are an existing battle network and a dedicated uplink with bandwidth of 128 kbps per involved soldier.

Calexico Speyside was an aeronautic technician and soldier in the Imperial Army, but was drummed out for gambling and constant insubordination to minor orders.

He leaft Kirav for the Khakia Colony, where he became a mercenary, hired out by small farming towns for defence from raiders. The Mejoritian Army hired him into a mercenary corps to help in the New Asia campaign.

He is skilled in desert and tundra combat, is adept with military aircraft, and is a skilled and deadly soldier. He is responsible for the deaths of 900 New Asian rebels, and has destroyed armed vehicles singlehandedly. Speyside uses a variety of weapons, including KE rifles, missile launchers, chemical weapons, swords, and conventional firearms.

He is currently residing in the Svolara Colony, repairing warplanes, and awaiting employment.

Name: Zen Redtooth

Occupation: Mercenary, Chairman of Mandalorian Merc.

One of the many Mandalorians to be trained as a mercenary, Zen Redtooth was nothing new. Partaking in many Mandalorian campaigns including the invasion of The World Soviet Party, Zen quickly rose the ranks. After the great war, he founded Mandalorian Merc., a private mercenary company stationed in the heart of the Mandalorian Empire.

An expert with the sniper, Zen was one of the few Immortals* who was an expert marksman. Zen's missions are only of the upmost importance, something that a regular Mandalorian Mercenary couldn't do. Smooth with words and quick on his feet, Zen is one of the finest Mercenaries in the Empire.

Bio and skills: Colonel (former) Hassan al-Walid was an officer in the Kahanistan Marines when the Doomani invaded for the first time. When the Negev was occupied by the Doomani, he fought as an insurgent and trained insurgents to fight the occupiers. Believed killed when the former capital was razed, he surfaced alive in Chechnya before stowing away on a ship and stealing a lifeboat, which he used to go to Perimeter Defence.

As an instructor for the Kahanistan Marines, he is trained in the Jewish martial art of Krav Maga, and is an expert with the IMI Tavor TAR-21 assault rifle, FN FAL battle rifle, various machine guns and hand-held missile launchers, and the Denel NTW-20 14.5mm sniper rifle. He is certified to train Kahanistanian special forces in the arts of survival, evasion, resistance and escape (SERE training) and clandestine operations, including infiltration, exfiltration, sabotage, and subterfuge. He speaks Arabic, Doomani Latin, English, Hebrew, and Kraven Germanic.

Bio and Skills: Major (former) Arnold is trained in the operation of numerous domestic and foreign vehicles, from the ancient T-34 to the domestic Spartacus MBT and the market-dominating Nakil, to laughingstock designs from more than twenty-seven different Third World nations. She fled Kahanistan after being accused of killing a Kraven civilian during the Kraven Wars by running over a child with a Merkava.

While she is among the best tank commanders in Kahanistan, and at home in almost any armoured vehicle, jeep, APC, IFV, SPG, or even helicopter or some types of attack planes, she is best when placed in command of an armoured company, where her command skills can shine. She is rebellious, undisciplined, and not suitable for a professional military, but is relatively even-tempered.

Like most Kahanistanians, she is multilingual, fluent in English, French, Greek, and Hebrew.

Bio Aged eighteen, Heinrich Müller volunteered for the LNR army, and stayed there for five years (One year basic, four years regular service; the latter combined with studying machine engineering) before leaving - while his service record was perfectly alright (Although his superiors noted his extraordinary carelessness towards lives), he'd failed in his studies, and not desiring a 'Career' as a simple soldier, in addition to wanting to see some 'Real' action (Not very likely in LNR), he eventually quit the military to pursue his own goals.

Three years later, he - like his namesake Siegfried Müller in the sixties of the twentieth century - resurfaced in Africa, having joined a group of mercenaries under the command of Major Franklin Lembargo, at that time in the employment of the Christian-Socialist Republic to quell the all-too-common rebellions in the country, and to act as a (Somewhat) trustworthy arm of the central government, a means to keep local warlords in check.

Here, H. Müller learned everything he had do to fulfill his duties as a mercenary - and, becoming more and more accustomed to local standards and mercenary culture, his already rather relaxed attitude towards life eventually led to him being placed on LNR's list of war criminals, as he participated in a multitude of massacres and crimes against humanity (Although it must be said that he didn't strictly derive joy from doing so, as many of his comrades did. Instead, he simply saw it as a 'Part of his work', and while he himself didn't usually participate in mass-rapes & the likes, he certainly saw the use thereof to 'Keep the men happy and their spirits high').

Over the years, and in various countries, H. Müller eventually served in command positions, occasionally leading forces numbering a few hundred in the field, and holding nominal command over forces of up to several thousand (Although given the peculiarities of guerilla warfare and mercenary organisation, this amounted to considerably less than what it'd mean in a conventional military), further increasing his reputation as an effective, if (Due to his aforementioned views on morale) somewhat brutal soldier.

He is also said to feature a surprisingly gentlemanly attitude when in the appropriate social circles, although this is, of course, not often the case.

At present, he is lingering in the Delgado-Hotel in Nimunde (CSR), his evident alcoholism helping him with socialising the local elites. Two attempts on his life during this time have been unsuccessful, and even failed to worry him to any particularly noteworthy extend.

H. Müller is skilled in driving most vehicles (Short of tanks, artillery & co), and is a fairly good shot, although his present physical strength and fitness is perhaps not as good as it could be. However, these days, his true skills lie in relatively small-scale command positions, leading from the front when it comes to quelling insurgencies or cleaning an area of a given ethnicity.

Vivileigh Toledo might not exist on Perimeter Defense records, but whenever her physical existence turns up, she makes a gigantic footprint. An agent straight out of the RIPOSTE counterintelligence system, Toledo is internally best known for her demonstrative evasion of the entire nation's best tracking. Given a two-hour intel blindness headstart, Toledo proceeded to dodge CCTV eyes, satellite sweeps that scanned tens of thousands of upward-looking faces per second, local policing assets and intelligence agents, and even her teachers from the RIPOSTE academy. The chase persisted for three weeks before Toledo appeared at RIPOSTE HQ, to the great surprise of analysts and agents who were all tracking her down 25/7 - or at least, they thought. She came there for a cheeseburger.

Toledo's best assets aren't her guns and intel equipment, but her wetware and skills. She is fluent in twelve languages that comprise major first languages within 4,000 kilometers of Perimeter Defense's borders. She is skilled in Arnis, karate, and judo, and was a quiet member of the hacking group 29A for several years. Among her more unusual attributes is her eidetic memory; she can memorize pages of a book at a glance, check license plate numbers, and virtually "scan" urban locations for hotspots, intel gathering points, and traditional positioning of agents within a given area. She is a powerful tactician, as a result. Finally, if made to use hostile force, she is trained to deplete strike forces sent at her by exhaustion, separation, or confusion. Her skills with the firearm are such that she is known to commit headshots from the hip. With all these, she is a lone wolf who works best alone.

Toledo's fatal flaw is that she is incapable of defeating snipers given an open area, and she cannot use a long-range rifle either. Her quick mental scans of local structures and likewise do not reveal sniper positions because of her mental conditioning that works best with medium-range personnel.

Cost: $100,000 per assignment. Toledo may be expensive, but she has had a 99% success rate so far - on one assignment, her employer was killed beyond her control. If Toledo is killed in an assignment, the money is refunded.
